First time there, service was good. Atmosphere was alright. Nothing memorable. Food was ok. I enjoyed the salad it tasted good however confused about the hen part, thought there would be more meat in the salad not sure where the hen was. My partner enjoyed the game burger and fries. I did not enjoy the pasta. I ate it but it wasn’t my favourite or something I would ever order again. I didn’t like the taste. There was a weird strong aftertaste and not very saucy. I wasn’t satisfied. We decided we would not return.

Follow @bredgyeats for more food pics! Bison >>> Cow, it's official. Antler is famous for its masterful skills, elevating wild game to a level that makes me want to forever ditch traditional meats. Their bison ribeye has a beautiful smoky sear, cooked to a juicy perfection inside that bursts out a strong beefy flavour, without the overwhelming fattiness some cows can get sometimes. It therefore creates a tasting experience that doesn't decline with each bite, in fact, it's a crescendo when paired with the buttery polenta, sweet pearl onions, crisp rapini and juicy wild mushrooms all swimming in a pool of delicious meat jus that's suitable to drink. Their venison loin is also unbelievably tender, so the exterior sear imparts a subtle contrast of textures in each bite that delivers a more mellow, meaty bite that is complimented with a tart and sweet caramelized apple mustard. The slight bitterness of the charred Brussels sprouts also tones down the sweetness so it doesn't subtract from each bite, while simultaneously being masked by the sweet potato mash that's as smooth as silk. The mousse is, as promised, the smokiest and smoothest bite of chocolate I've experienced to this day. One touch on your tongue quickly exudes a pleasant but strong smoky flavour, followed by a rich dark chocolate taste that harmonizes with a fruity berry compote and the walnut crumb underneath for a nutty contrast in textures. The torched meringue is a great addition to introduce a bit of extra sweetness and make each bite heterogeneous, as the mousse itself isn't overly sweet which is just to my liking. Service was also nice.

Great first experience at Antler: Excellent food, great service, nice ambiance & fair prices given the food quality. A small place but well organized. Although there are a couple of meatless options on the menu, it is best to come with an appetite for meat (especially game meat). Beautiful presentation & well paired flavours.

Went for dinner and had the family style menu. Everything was amazing! They have their own cedar gin which was so delicious we bought a bottle. Only con was that it was a bit overpriced (over $600 for 3 people and the bottle of gin with drinks) and the restaurant is very small and intimate.

Blown away by the flavours of each dish. Favourites were the Bison Ribeye, Venison Rack, Maiitake Mushroom Salad, Seafood Pasta and Salted Maple Budino. Skip the duck. Service could be improved.

I have mixed feelings writing this review. We placed a reservation and when we came inside, we believed we would be seated almost immediately. However, we stood in the entrance for around 10 minutes unnoticed. Once we finally got seated, we were all ready to place our orders(we looked at the menu online) and we told our server we were ready and he just walked away. He came back around 10 minutes later and took our orders. Food came around 40 minutes later. The quality of the food was good, and the taste was excellent for most dishes(compliments to the chef). We ordered a trout dish and when it came looking like salmon we asked the server if we had gotten the wrong dish and he told us that it was trout and walked away again. After some extensive googling we learned that it was in fact steelhead trout(flavor & appearance very similar to salmon). We wished that he took the time to explain it to us. Overall a decent spot, but our evening was ruined by the poor service.

Antler is my favourite restaurant in Toronto. My husband and I come here whenever we have an occasion to celebrate. Even though we love trying out new restaurants, when we want consistently amazing food and a pleasant atmosphere, Antler is our go-to place. The food quality is always exceptional. We love the seasonal menu and the fact that ingredients are sourced locally. We often get pleasantly surprised by the unique ingredient combinations or an unexpected way to cook something. Protein portions are generous, so the main dishes are quite filling. We usually end up sharing an appetizer and a dessert. The wait staff are professional, attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. They make great recommendations and certainly enhance our experience at Antler.

Overall, the food and atmosphere were very good. The portion sizes were large, and most of the dishes were delicious. The boar pasta, smoked bison steak, cedar ice, and the duck dish were amazing. Surprisingly the cedar ice was my favourite dish. The taste was extremely unique and pleasant, and tasted something like a sugary Christmas tree. Each dish mentioned here, really hit the mark and made me have a great experience at Antler. However, I have two criticisms. The final dessert was an underwhelming ice cream that sounded great on paper but was bland in practice. The added liquor was too overwhelming and ruined the end of the dish. My biggest disappointment is that I felt that the restaurant and chef didn’t care much about our opinions and experience with the food. The vibe was very “here is our delicious food, hope you enjoy.” In contrast, other tasting menus have given me the feeling that the chef really cared, often bringing the food directly, asking for our opinions, and chatting about our experience. So overall, this tasting menu was very good, but a little underwhelming compared to what I expected from the reputation.

We came to this restaurant to celebrate my boyfriends birthday. We both had high expectations due to how highly this restaurant is rated. The experience overall was good but few things about the restaurant were not ideal. 1) Food: we ordered Venison tartar (due to how popular it is), bison steak and duck breast. The venison tartar tasted extremely mustardy... we couldnt taste any of the tartar as it seemed to have been highly marinated with mustard and no other flavor was coming through. My boyfriend loved the bison steak and I liked the duck breast. Again duck breast was great but nothing extraordinary. The food is probably the best review of this place. 2) Drinks: we asked for wine recommendations and the waitress provided us with recommendations and when we tried the wine, it tasted like cheap boxed wine. The disappointing part was that the waitress did not ask us ONCE how the wine tasted. When you provide a recommendation, usually its common courtesy to ask how a guest likes it. 3) Service: this ties in to my previous point... our waitress simply seemed like she did not want to be there. When it came to the food she never asked how any of it was either. When people come to such a well known and highly rated restaurant, they would expect a little better service. We felt like we were inconveniencing her. 4) Atmosphere: the place is TINY and loud. You hear everyones conversations as everyone is so close together. I understand rent in Toronto is expensive but if you are charging higher end prices, maybe limit the number of guests. When a place is so crowded and loud, it personally kills the vibe no matter how good the food is. Overall the place is not bad. Its just when reviews are so high, expectations were obviously a little higher.

My favourite restaurant in Toronto. Weve come here for special occasions and picked up a meat box during the lockdowns. Our most recent dinner to celebrate my birthday was superb and delightfully delicious. We did the tasting menu and sat at the chefs table with cocktails flowing. Chef Adam was engaging and the staff took the utmost care of us. They made our night so special. I always recommend this restaurant to people and take anybody from out of town here with us as they also have vegetarian/pescaterian options. I love everything about it - the vibe is all the things you would come to experience at fine dining, but without the pretentiousness. Well be back again and again. Thank you Antler!

Renowned restaurant (it has Michelin stars) located in an unpopular area of downtown Toronto. It specializes in Canadian game meats and organic vegetable accompaniment. Original and tasty dishes. It has a very complete wine and beer list. It is an UNMISSABLE gastronomic experience at a price slightly higher than any other common restaurant. Dietary restrictions: Has gluten-free options

Overall, an amazing experience! We started with the venison tartare, which was perfectly marinated, and the meat was incredibly tender. For our mains, we enjoyed the Pan-Seared Duck Breast and the Alberta Bison Ribeye (10 oz). The duck dish was perfectly balanced, cooked to a flawless medium rare, and I d recommend it to anyone. The bison ribeye was equally outstanding, packed with flavor and expertly prepared. The cocktails were a highlight as well. The Duck à l Orange was absolutely incredible, and Can t Beet the Heat was very enjoyable too. However, the Return to Sumac fell a bit short compared to the other two.

great restaurant. service was pretty solid, drinks were full, we were left alone to enjoy things when needed and checkup up with when needed. food and drink were excellent. we showed up early and were allowed to sit at the kitchen window and try some cocktails which were very unique. got to see some dishes being made and the aroma of something being smoked was pleasant to me... good start. The food itself, we tried some pretty random stuff but it was all done extremely well. A lot of meat oriented dishes so i wouldnt necessarily recommend to vegan or vegetarian but the meals were balanced overall. dessert was particularly good and wished i could try more. atmosphere was cozy and dress was casual + maybe? Id say upscale feeling but I didnt feel out of place or anything. Price was quite reasonable and probably more in line with montreal for similar experience which is a bit more approachable for the average person. Overall would recommend. Will probably come here again as there is a wide enough selection and things were done very well. I think i had read issues with service in researching but they did a really exceptionally good job when we went is what i can say. Very professional, you could sense it was a tight ship and everyone was very helpful and pleasant to us and very much on the ball.

Really enjoyable experience! The pasta dishes (Mushroom and Wild Boar) were phenomenal. The Venison rack was so tasty, although I felt there could have been more meat on the bone, maybe it was just the serving we got. The mousse, which was explained to us as a deconstructed Smore was delicious.

A very cozy spot where you can find unconventional offerings. I m talking about the impressive list of meats which are injected into classic dishes. I m a huge fan of local seasonal and wild foods and this is one of the only spots in the city that executes flawlessly on them, doing the ingredients a real justice. Aside from the elk, venison, bison, and foraged mushrooms, I think these guys nail their duck dishes perfectly. Pairing it with the foie gras is just bliss. I highly recommend Antler for a memorable night and to wow your guests.

Phenomenal food! Compliments to the chef! But Manbun the Waiter was atrocious, uncaring and downright incompetent. Not only he forgot a dish that lessened our meal, he went out of his way to show how much more he loves himself than his job. With better service and less sticky tables this can be an amazing place. I loved the ingenious combination of indigenous Canadian ingredients with a touch of imported spice. The wine list is very thoughtful and caringly assembled. The presentation is superb. This was the best Bambi I have ever eaten. But when I go out I want a positive experience, and not just for my taste buds, and in this case, the service eroded that.

This spot did not disappoint. My partner and I showed up early for our reservation but were warmly greeted and welcomed in. The menu is selective and precise, which is showcased by the taste and choices by the chef to each dish for how well everything speaks on the dish. We started with the foie gras, then had the duck breast & bison ribeye (just have the ribeye, spend the 75$ & thank yourself later) for our mains. All fantastic dishes that you can tell a lot of thought and understanding went into. Great banter with our server (didnt catch their name, but they worked Sunday at 6pm so shoutout to them!) and the maitre de (?) possibly manager) was very on top of checking in with tables. Its casual in a comfortable way but the food is very elevated without feeling pretentious or you arent getting your moneys worth. Will definitely be back, it was a pleasure.

I believe that Canada s possession of some of the world s most vast and spectacular settings, should translate into its indigenous cuisine. And having dinner at Antler was the best testament to that belief. It was evident right from the succulent seared foie gras, which was served with a lip-smacking pan-fried maple cake, reminiscent of so many classic Canadian mornings. Is there any natural sweetener superior to maple syrup? I think we all know the answer to THAT! The accompanying compressed apples added just the right balance of acidity. I can conclude that it was one of the best appetizers I ve ever had! The charcuterie & cheese board, focused mainly on fabulous preparations of duck and boar, along with a zingy blueberry compote, made this classic dish quite distinct from its customary French or Italian counterparts. Of course, I felt genuine excitement when the picture-perfect pan roasted venison rack arrived! It s consistency of quality matched its appearance, since no bite of it was any better or worse than the previous one! The trimmings seemed so appropriate, as much of them were what is found in the deer s natural habitat. These included wild mushrooms and haskap berries. The latter, which was made into a mostarda, with a mouth-watering sweet tartness, was dribbled so artfully amidst a gentle spring pea purée, giving somewhat of a Jackson Pollack vibe! I washed everything down with a cedar-forward and exquisitely floral White Negroni, which was a cocktail that still haunts me to this day! Since I don t want to spoil the surprise and whimsy of this Toronto eatery s iconic dessert, the smoked chocolate mousse, I should just say, that those of us who ve enjoyed roasting s mores over a campfire (which means pretty much everyone), will get the smoky campfire sensation, along with all the top-notch quality ingredients that a standard s more could only dream of, if they order THIS masterpiece!! Along with the fare, the staff s attitude at Antler was also famously archetypal of Canada friendly and polite, or as I like to call it, smart!! So, Canada is often regarded as one of the best, if not THE best, countries in the world, and Antler is one of the components that helps make it that way!!!

This is a really nice up class business casual spot. We heard so much about the place and as hunters really wanted to get a sense of how dishes can be. We heard the owner of this location is a big hunter and tries many different takes when it comes to cooking his hunts (dont worry the food your served isnt hunted its farmed.) The decor of this place is beautiful -classy, tasteful and dim light setting in the evening. You can really see the hunter in the decor as well if your observant. Only thing that throws of the decor is the little curtain area at the front - I gets its to keep the cold out when opening the door but itd super small and a bit awkward... If your going here on a date be prepared as it is more so on the expensive side (you better really like the person to be balling out like that). If your celebrating something big as long as your comfortable with a bill ranging between $275 and up this is the spot. We started our visit with a venison Tartare and hands down it stole the show (disappointment towards the end - keep reading to find out why). It was nothing below perfection. The Tartare was beautifully seasoned and served with a side of 3 crackers (I think their made in house but not sure). The odd number of crackers made it a bit disappointing as my hubby and I both enjoyed the Tartare so much it was kinda a you have the last no you okay lets split it moment. I would understand the odd number of crackers for a odd number of guest table but when you see a couple its would be nice to serve even for even. I Ofcourse got Alberta Bison Rib-Eye (rare) and my hubby the pan seared duck breast. Both dishes were served with a beautiful neat presentation but here is where the disappointment began...Both dishes seemed to have a sweetness to them more then savory flavor. Its like the chef prefers to play with sweet taste buds more. We both felt a bit more savory would have made each dish so much better and I personally felt I should have just ordered another Venison Tartare as my main course. Its one thing to spend $75 on a main that perfectly hits the flavor plate with a uniqueness of its own but sucks when you feel the starter stole the show. For drinks know their on the pricer side. We got 2 drinks each (bourbon, pear pressure, smoke barrel, & something I forgot) drinks as well were more on the sweeter side but the one thing I really didnt like was the smoke barrel drink flavor- the presentation of the drink was wonderful of removing the lid and having the smoke fill your surrounding before revealing the drink but there was a bitter taste left in the drink as if the wood used to create the smokey flavor was reused over and over to the point you didnt get the flavor of it but just the burnt taste. That was a huge disappointment to me. I think theres only so many times you can use the same piece to smoke a drink without ruining the flavor and for sure the piece used on my drink outlived its use span. The desserts were nice but nothing special or memorable. Overall its a cute spot, super pricey, nice to try once at least but I truly feel our meals did not hold to their value. Its sad when the starter is the most memorable thing. It should be the opening statement that just creates anticipation and excitement for the main and the main should easily be the follow up stopper that you think of long after youve left the establishment - not something that leaves you wishing you got the starter instead of a main meal.

Disappointing Experience, Poor Execution Ive been to Antler before, but yesterdays visit was extremely disappointing. While the menu design showed promise, the execution fell short in every aspect. The rib eye steak lacked proper temperature and resting time, the cavatelli pasta tasted floury with pre-shredded cheese, and the venison tartar was overwhelmed by mustard with zero venison taste, paired with an unsuitable cracker. Even the cedar ice with meringue felt like mismatched components. Cocktails had great ideas but were poorly executed, with sour drinks tasting overly sweet. The service was also subpar, with a server (male with dark hair and a bun) displaying impatience and rudeness, disrupting our dining experience. Overall, while the menu design showed potential, the execution and attention to detail were lacking, resulting in one of my worst dining experiences. Improvement in both kitchen execution and service training is much needed.

What can I see other than you can not miss with any of the main dishes. I got the ribeye and my girlfriend got the boar and we were in amazement with how delicious everything was. The service was exceptional and overall experience was perfect. We can t wait to come back and try the other dishes. The dark horse dish: that beautiful maple boar chop

Always amazing. Best restaurant in Toronto. Ive come over multiple years, many times. Edit: these photos and reels are a visual description of my visits over the years. The best dish theyve ever made was the blessed Duck Cassoulet. Oh my god. Its not on the menu anymore.

We very much enjoyed our visit to Antler. Reserving a table was straightforward, and the courtesy call to confirm our booking was appreciated. We were seated promptly, and staff were friendly, courteous and knowledgeable. The charcuterie board was a great appetizer and we enjoyed the variety it offered. Our mains of the venison rack & boar chop were cooked perfectly! The parsnip & carrot sides to the venison were wonderful. The rye spaetzle side with the boar chop was the only down note for me, which I found to be bland and an unusual texture pairing. We enjoyed three of the desserts on offer, of which the maple budino was the stand out. Such a complex and yet perfectly balanced treat - we will be back just in hopes of finding this on the menu again. Overall - exceptional!

Been twice and both times were great. The boar blood pasta is the best pasta I ve ever had. The bison ribeye was perfect. Their charcuterie board is house-made in the sense that they cure the meat themselves and the duck heart was surprisingly delicious a must go place if you appreciate good food

Upon entering Antler Kitchen and Bar, the rich aromas wafting through the air were a siren call to the senses, promising an epicurean journey through the wilds of Canada. Set against a backdrop that cleverly melds rustic allure with an air of sophistication, Antler offers a dining experience that tantalizes the taste buds and ignites the imagination. The staff greeted us with the warmth of old friends and possessed an encyclopedic knowledge of the menus wild fare. Their enthusiasm for the restaurants commitment to local and sustainable cuisine was infectious, and their recommendations became our guideposts for an unforgettable meal. We embarked on our culinary adventure with a venison tartare that was exquisitely seasoned and texturally perfect, a bold and robust beginning. The duck heart yakitori followed, its charred edges and smoky flavor demonstrating the kitchens deft hand with game meats. The roasted hen of the woods salad was a revelation in umami, with earthy, meaty mushrooms playing the lead role, supported by a cast of fresh greens and a delicate vinaigrette. The scallop crudo was a dance of delicate flavors, each succulent piece adorned with thoughtful accents that elevated the dish. The seared foie gras was pure indulgence, meltingly soft and rich, a luxurious contrast to the rustic charm of the other dishes. As we delved further into the menu, the boar chop presented itself as a hearty testament to the chefs expertise with game, its robust flavors complemented by a thoughtful array of sides. The pan-seared duck breast was a masterpiece of balance, with crispy skin and tender meat that was both earthy and elegant. The Alberta bison ribeye was a standout, majestic in its simplicity and cooked to succulent perfection, while the game burger an ingenious blend of wild boar, bison, and deer was a juicy, flavor-packed homage to the great Canadian outdoors. Each dish at Antler Kitchen and Bar was more than a meal; it was a narrative of the land, a celebration of the wild that sustains and inspires. My visit to this Toronto treasure was an experience of discovery, one that left a lasting impression not only on my palate but on my heart. Antler is not just a restaurant; its a destination for those who yearn to dine on the wild side.

Small little place but great atmosphere, we were seated at a great big table all other tables are more comfortable for 2s or 3s we were a table of 4. The food is an experience, I was not disappointed. Everything we asked for our server she provided for us, not overly attentive but did not bother our group. I recommend this place to anyone who is a foodie and wants to try something you dont have everyday! Parking: Street Parking, come early so you are not late to your reservation looking for parking.

We did the tasting menu at the chefs table and it was 100/10. The menu and food were so thoughtfully prepared. Everything was so intentional and used such fun and unique ingredients. The cocktails were also 10/10. Go here, its a splurge but worth jt. It has a star for a reason! My fave of the tasting menu was the cedar ice btw, it is not to be missed! Everything was excellent but the ice was the most unique bite Ive ever had - simple, refreshing, nostalgic, and made from foraged Ontario cedar! It was served as a palette cleanser in the tasting menu but I believe you can get it as a regular dessert as well.

Redefining Canadian food by serving wild game found in Canada. If youre nervous of trying something new like Bison, Boar, Rabbit or Venison, this is the place to do it because its prepared to perfection. They also have Fois Gras which is like warm butter and a good selection of craft cocktails. I highly recommend it. Just make sure to call ahead for a reservation because its not a big place and popular.

My Girlfriend and I went for Valentines day prefix menu. The food certainly deserves a 5 star. The selection was on point and the quality was terrific with the exception of the Octopus Carpaccio, it was lack luster. The smoked duck hearts were exceptional along with the Bison tenderloin. The issue was the service, the people had no interest in explaining what we were pairing with or what the ingredients where, very disappointing for this price point. Also the venue lacks any warmth, I realize its small and they would like to maximize the number of guests but it is not inviting.
