Coming to you from the Co-Owners of Ardo + Dova. @jacnicosia & @chefrobertomarotta present Bar Ardo. Bar Ardo is a new east-end hotspot offering a combination of small plates for lunch and cocktail hour, larger shareable dishes for nights that were meant to be remembered, and a special late-night menu.
Tuna tartar was mid at best. My steak was completely unseasoned, when I told the server he walked away as if he didn't hear me, then after I ordered desert he asked how the desert was, I said good, then he said 'but the steak was not?" Nothing I tried would make me want to go back.
I visited for a late-night dinner and drinks on Thursday, and I had a fantastic experience. The food was not only delicious but also offered a unique twist compared to other places I’ve tried in the city. The vibe was elevated by a DJ, creating a lively and energetic atmosphere. It was the perfect way to start the evening.
Bar Ardo in Toronto is a delightful gem that perfectly captures the essence of casual dining with a trendy twist. The Sicilian-inspired menu is a standout, showcasing a range of vibrant flavors that reflect the rich culinary traditions of the region. Each dish is thoughtfully crafted, with ingredients that burst with freshness—think creamy risottos, hearty pasta, and exquisite seafood options. The bar is equally impressive, featuring an eclectic selection of wines and innovative cocktails that complement the food beautifully. The bartenders are knowledgeable and passionate, eager to recommend the perfect pairing for your meal. The atmosphere strikes a perfect balance between laid-back and chic, making it an ideal spot for everything from a casual dinner with friends to a more intimate night out. The warm lighting and stylish decor create an inviting vibe that encourages lingering over food and drinks. Overall, Bar Ardo is a must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy a trendy, delicious dining experience in Toronto. The combination of a creative Sicilian menu, a well-curated bar, and a relaxed ambiance makes it a standout destination.
Another hit by chef Roberto Marotto and his partner Jacqueline..beautiful decor with a great vibe. The menu was perfect, both in options and tastes. The chicken al carbon was absolutely fabulous - perfectly seasoned and nicely paired a light salad of greens. Top marks for the linguine, hazelnut gelato and delicious bread. This place is as good as Ardo and I highly recommend it 😊
Went here on a Friday night and sat at the bar with 2 friends. Vibe was great, and it was busy. I think it would be a nice date night spot! We met one of the owners; she was very knowledgeable about the food and lovely to chat with! Drinks were unique and we all had seconds. Anguria Margarita 10/10 Penicillia 10/10 Cafe e olio 10/10 Food was phenomenal! Starters: Acciughe - 9/10 - Sourdough Bread, butter anchovies. It was good, but the portion was small for what it was. Panelle - 10/10 Definitely recommend these chickpea fritters. They went quickly! Coze - 10/10 Very tasty mussels! The sauce was so good, and we mopped up all of it with the bread. Filetto- 10/10 The sauce was absolutely delicious with the steak. Polo al cabone- 10/10 Generous portion of chicken that had a crispy outside and refreshing salad. Wish we had tried the dessert, but we were already full by then. Will try them next time!
Nice addition to the neighbourhood. I'm a big fan of the original ARDO down the street but this one seems like a fresher take. We've been twice for lunch since it opened and they took us without a reservation. The place seems pretty quiet during the day on weekends. I highly recommend the Cavolfiore (cauliflower and chickpea dish). The two pasta dishes are great too. The tenderloin stake is a small piece and may not be filling on its own.
A new cocktail bar on King Street East in Old Town Toronto that you have to visit! 🍸🍹🥃🍷 Bar Ardo is a beautiful new cocktail bar and the menu is curated by Chef Roberto Marotta from Sicily, who is a Michelin recognized chef for Ardo Restaurant located a block away on King Street We were there for DJ Thursday and just love the soft jazz and the chic vibe at Bar Ardo. It’s a great lounge for a special date night or to chill with some friends 🎶 The Italian Sicilian inspired menu is simply fantastic. We are here to try chefs new late night features. The small plates are actually quite generous and perfect for sharing. Everything was simply delicious but some of my faves has to be the Battuto Di Manzo a very well seasoned seared beef tartare, the Scallop Capesante and The Mussels. We also had fresh East Coast Oysters and Blue Fin Tuna Tartare both were so tasty. Each dish was beautifully presented. The carefully crafted cocktails are exquisite and sexy. I had to try Carla Carla, a smooth vodka served wth a spoon of caviar… so luxurious!! They have an amazing Cafe E OLIO … their version of Espresso Martini. The Pina (the pretty pink drink) a smooth Bulleit Burbon with egg white was another favourite cocktail of the night. For the next round, we ended the evening with a few mocktails and they are tantalizing. The Lemon Spritz was refreshing, along with Mockarita and Cosmo. I highly recommend you try this place. The service here is top notch! I definitely want to go back to try the pastas next time 🍷❤️ Don’t miss out on DJ Thursday’s and try the new LATE NIGHT MENU from 8 pm to late!! Came here to check out this new restaurant. It was okay, I do have to agree with some of the reviews here, the portion sizes are a little bit on the small end, however the taste is decent. My only comment (this is a personal preference) is that some of the dishes are a little bit heavy seasoned. I prob will not be back just for dinner, but maybe for drinks. The bartender knows what he was doing n the drinks were pretty good. I do recommend this place for drinks for sure. One last comment, I like the atmosphere and the vibe in this restaurant.
What a lovely hidden gem on East of King Street! Love seeing great restaurants setting up on the east end. I told my friend we need to try Bar Ardo out, and glad we did. Although we didnt have dinner here this time, we went for their nice desserts. We tried: TIRAMISU AL LIMONI - Savoiardi, lemon mascarpone, limoncello liqueur, candied lemon, chocolate This tiramisu was outstanding with its lemon flavour. It Wasnt tard and Wasnt crazy sweet. I could have 2 of those. And, CROSTATA AL CIOCCOLATO - Dark chocolate mousse tart, raspberry mascarpone Velvety and rich, truly a tart of substance. The ambiance of this place is trendy chic, and the staff are friendly. We patiently waited for are desserts, and it was worth the long wait.
Dinner here did not disappoint! The service, ambiance and food were excellent! They accommodated our larger than expected group and served up a fabulous meal! I will be back.
Sat at the amazing bar great, knowledgeable, genuinely friendly staff. The food (Sicilian, of course) was fresh, innovative, better than the usual Italian fare and high quality. Chatting with the owner/chef Roberto rounded off the evening well. Food : 5/5
Bar ARDO is an absolute gem for anyone who appreciates authentic Sicilian flavors and impeccable hospitality. The red wild shrimp and raw scallops were nothing short of exceptional fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The rigatoni was equally delightful, perfectly cooked and rich with taste. The service was impeccable, attentive without being overbearing, and the evening was made even more special when Chef Roberto Marotta himself took the time to visit our table and chat with us. This personal touch elevated the experience, showcasing the passion and dedication behind the cuisine. Bar ARDO offers a dining experience that s both memorable and heartfelt. I can t wait to return!
Another winner from Chef Roberto Marotta. Sicilian themed dishes are the star.
Great Resto-Bar right in the centre of downtown Toronto. Food and drinks were excellent and the service- perfect! Would go back for sure!
We had an excellent experience at Bar Ardo. The food was truly exceptional, and the staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. Love the ambiance. Drinks were FANTASTIC! I can t wait to go back!
We had bread & whipped butter, tuna carpaccio, prosciutto in browned butter (recommend getting bread as there s no receptacle otherwise), cauliflower & chickpea puree, ravioli (agnolotti) on special. Cauliflower was a bit blah lacking flavour & pasta was just ok (also lacking flavour) but service was excellent & wine rec from the manager (?) was very good!
Everything was great except the food which was ok for the price. I expected more. The server was exceptional. :)
We had a beautiful dinner there this week, the food was delicious, a good variety of food, excellent service and a beautiful aesthetic. It was my first time and I am looking forward to going back!
Quality food, quality service and beautiful atmosphere. I cant wait to go back.
Im glad I tried this place. Having walked past it so many times before and also getting confused how this was different than ARDO. In a nutshell -- a great ambiance, excellent service and affordable food.
The mussel is not fresh at all. And the three little pieces of organic chicken do not justfiy $30+ price tag.
Had such a lovely experience at this place. The food was delicious and service was excellent! Will definitely be back.
Cozy setting, attentive staff, delicious food!
Very disappointed with food. The menu is short and pretty standard, so expected good quality. However, salad was very ordinary and linguine way over salted and mussels very unexciting. For nearly $150 for a couple (no desert, split the salad) this is disappointing- will not be back.
Great food, good vibes and gracious hosts.
Bar Ardo. Though I only passed through on my way to a TIFF thing at One King West, I thought the design was beautiful, the staff were very courteous and I love a great bathroom. Next time, I will stay for lunch. In fact, I recommended it to my hairdresser for her upcoming bridal shower. You should be receiving a very intense series of emails about your availability from her and her planners any day now. Haha. Well done, guys. Xx
I have had many memorable experiences and delicious meals at both Ardo and Dova. Bar Ardo did not deliver. We expected more from Roberto and team. The space is simple and beautiful. But the noise levels were high and uncomfortable making conversation difficult (space has too many hard surfaces, and tables close together). The service was pleasant but slow, seemed understaffed. The bread was stale. The charbroiled chicken tasted like pan fried at home in a rush, and extremely salty. Fries were fast food quality. We would return for drinks only, but the menu and delivery is in need of revamp.
Great cocktails and the chicken was unbelievably delicious. Tons of gluten free options with a gluten free fryer.
Beautiful interior and great music. Loved the Imperiale salad, panelle and the Ardo Burger!
I already loved Ardo so I went in with high expectations. This place is good- nice vibe, good look, nice menu and good service. Brunch combined with lunch menu which was good on Saturday (I prefer lunch as eggs don t go with wine). I started with cetriolo which was really good. Light and flavourful. Then had the mussels with their side of fries- could be best fries ever!! No really!! Long hours make it very convenient too!
Food was good (rib eye great but all other dishes were average) and drinks were very good but the service was horrible .. Felt like I was at an all you can eat sushi restaurant. Our female server was clueless, I think Natasha was her name. Asking us to hold plates because there was no room at the table, table was full of empty glasses, served us the wrong bill at checkout, for the money was spent service was ridiculous service more fitting for sunset grill
Grazie (thank you) to Roberto and the team at Bar ARDO for the great food, ambiance and excellent service! After a drive in from Montreal for a busy two day work conference, this was exactly what we needed. Well definitely be back :)
Great tasting food but very small portions, the filet mignon tasted great but the indicated 5 onz was a joke, it was the size of a golf ball..
The place is gorgeous. The champagne & wines were perfect for our meals. The food....the food is exquisitely delicious. The elegant grace of the staff was something I truly wish others would do. Did I mention the food!!! We were treated so respectfully and its truly shows why this is a extremely great restaurant. Beyond highly recommend.
Great new restaurant! We loved the Cetriolo, Cavalfiore (best dish), Muffaletta, burger and rigatoni! They also had a pretty extensive list of mocktails which is awesome. The space is beautiful and the service is also top notch.
My husband booked this to kick off my birthday weekend and what a start it was! Such a beautiful, vibey, and delicious restaurant - a much needed destination in the area. Owner is so lovely, welcoming, and knowledgeable. Food and cocktail menu is fun and modern. Wishing this small business all the success!
Ordered the linguine and the burger. The burger was tasty but the bun was cold, and the fries were bizarre - they were hollow. The linguine was not great, it was an oily mess and the pasta was subpar (check my pictures). I also ordered the Dirty drink which was very good. The waiter that sat us and took care of us for the evening was good and attentive. Overall, considering the price and the quality of the ingredients (you can literally order the pasta they serve online and its dry pasta - not fresh). Go to the other Italian places around the neighbourhood for a better experience, or, just come here for the Bar and not the Ardo.
Oyster and pasta are good. Nice atmosphere
Atmosphere is alright the phone is super annoying it s loud and throws off the calming aspect.
The food was just ok. I was a bit disappointed. The chicken thighs were very salty and oily. The beef was better. I hope the food improves because the place is nice and it could be a great neighborhood resto.
Service was phenomenal, so friendly. The Carla Carla is so unique and incredible. Definitely need to come check it out!
Food was incredible. Esp loved the Caesar salad, tuna tartare, pollo, and linguini. Fran (I think?) was lovely. One point docked bc it was just so loud in there.
Been here twice in the last week the food is that good. Last week I went with a few friends. We tried some cocktails the muscles, fries and artichokes. The service was absent that night which is why they are only getting 4/5 Last night I went back with my mom to try more of the menu. Fey was our waitress and she was an absolute gem! We each had a cocktail, shared one and shared a bottle of red wine. We also ordered olives, capesante (raw scallops), tuna tartare, carciofo (confit artichoke), battuto di manzo (seared beef tartare), patate (frittes) and tiramisu al limoni over nearly five hours. Only having one thing on the table at a time. No one rushed us and really let us enjoy our time. The bill (before tip) was spilt 50/50 and each came to $149 after taxes. The plates are small but exquisite and the prices are decent (16-24$/plate - olives/frittes even less) This place makes for a lovely relaxing environment to catch up with family, friends and surely to be good for dates. If you re into cocktail and food parings I would recommend asking for a Bees Knees using their honey ginger syrup and the tuna tartare. Please pardon any spelling
I m a big fan of Ardo, so I really wanted to like this new addition to the neighbourhood, but the service and food were not up to scratch.
Great new addition to the neighbourhood! Food is fantastic, and atmosphere and service are excellent. Love having the choice to eat at their bar. Highly recommended!
We stopped in on Sunday afternoon for a cocktail and some small sharing plates. Everything was delicious
Honestly I would say it was a 4.5. drinks were good and I like that they are leaning into cocktails for those of us who cant drink like we did in our 20s. The food was mostly excellent, my only critique was that the Caesar salad I ordered (note, its called something else) was good but was very overdressed. Which in such a garlic heavy dressing made it a bit overwhelming to eat. As well we wanted to sit and enjoy our drinks for a bit after dinner but when we wanted to leave we had a hard time getting the servers attention. However, its a new place and still finding their feet. I have no doubt they will work out the kinks soon and Im glad they are in the neighbourhood.
I was so excited to take my family to Bar Ardo, because my love for the original Ardo, but unfortunately our experience was an absolute disaster. From the moment we walked in, the service was horrendous. Our waiter was extremely rude and made several offensive comments, did not want to be accommodating to the allergies at the table and it was completely uncomfortable. The only positive feedback would be the incredibly competent bartender, who attempted to save the evening. The portions were laughably small given the exorbitant prices. It was as if you were doing a tasting menu but paying full price for the entrees. We left hungry and deeply disappointed. Bar Ardo needs a serious overhaul in both customer service and portion sizes. Save your money and go somewhere that values its customers.
I ve been a big fan of Ardo, Dova and the family behind Bar Ardo. Ardo was named for a nickname of a young boy. Well that boy is all grown up and at Bar Ardo this is a great addition to the portfolio. It s small plates which I adore and the execution is perfect. Every bite is delicious, well done and fair in terms of price. The cocktail selection - both alcoholic and none - is thoughtful, creative and delicious. Service is excellent. Well considered. Well paced. The ambiance is great. We were looking for a quiet place to talk, eat some great food and reconnect. If I could give ten stars I would. It s that good.
Amazing food choices!
This might be the best later-night menu in Toronto! My husband and I like to eat late so when we found out the creatives behind ARDO and DOVA opened Bar ARDO we were so excited! Chill vibe with a great bar perfect for date night. We arrived just before 10:30 so we ordered from the full menu omg the linguine was delicious! Obviously high quality ingredients in all of the beautifully curated dishes. Nice surprise to find exceptional food and drinks for reasonable prices. Pasta like this for under $30 and a great glass of wine for well under $20?! almost unheard of in Toronto these days. And let s not forget the impeccable service authentically kind and truly top-notch. Highly recommend.
It was a wonderful evening. The chiefs were great also the service was excellent. I would absolutely recommend this place
We stopped by around 8:30 on a Tuesday and it was fairly busy (a good sign!). Loved the food (Mussels and Tuna Tartare), the wine list is interesting, and the service and atmosphere excellent. A great addition to the neighbourhood!
The drinks and food were delicious! The restaurant has a warm, fun vibe and is beautifully decorated. The chef and his staff went above and beyond to take care of us. Wonderful customer service! This is a great addition to the neighborhood!
Such a great new spot so close to the St Lawrence Market with amazing dishes (tried and LOVED the oysters, beef tartare, shrimp linguine and tiramisu dessert- so good!) not to mention the cocktails! A must try and repeat place in Toronto!
I really appreciate the team behind Bar Ardo - Jacqueline and Chef Roberto Marotta open restaurants that constantly deliver an elevated experience with welcoming vibes. Staff is friendly, the space is beautiful, cocktails are delicious and the menu is unparalleled. Recommendations (just read this list to the waiter): ACCIUGHE, CAPESANTE, TARTARE. COTTO, LINGUINE, COZZE, POLLO AL CARBONE and PANELLE. If youre 2 people, you will be incredibly full and very happy. Looking forward to returning in the coming weeks with some colleagues.
I had a really fantastic experience, eating at Bar ARDO. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff are so friendly. Some of my favourite dishes included the steak which was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The olives were some of the best I ve had. The imperiale was delicious and such a great take on a cesar salad. The tuna tartare was a must try as well. I really appreciated that they have lots of gluten-free options and were very accommodating and careful. They also have a gluten-free fryer. I would highly recommend it. Dietary restrictions: They were really careful with gluten allergies.
Both the seared beef tartare and chickpea fritters were excellent. Tiramisu is quite decadent. Cocktail was tasty as well. Loved that the restaurant opens all day so one can nibble on small plates in the afternoon for a light lunch. Vegetarian options: Roasted cauliflower, confit artichoke, chickpea fritters and salads.
Highly recommend. Great vibe, delicious cocktails and food.
It s just the perfect place. They ve taken their amazing food and added such a sexy vibe and the best cocktails.
Cool vibe here. Food was good, though portions are on the small side. Service was good. Very loud place for dinner on a weekday, I guess because it was packed. Good to see it being a popular neighbourhood spot!
Our first time here. Loved it. The food, staff, atmosphere...amazing. Great menu and and a fun place to spend a couple of hours. The mussels were fantastic, chicken delicious, appetizers...should have ordered more, thats how good they were. We will definitely be back here and are already recommending this place to friends.
We went there for drinks and some appetizers yesterday. Space was well decord and new and love that we have a newer classy addition right on King east. However we were a bit disappointed about our experience. The manager was drinking with customers and seemed to be drunk and she forgot to charge half the cheque. We were also moved half way to the other side of the bar, and told to leave as she told us we don t have a reservation made but we have done that on the google reservations. Lastly, the tuna tartare was tasteless and it was extremely fishy, the chickpea fritter was in beautiful shape and looks creative but I could taste the seed oil. Expect the portion to be 1/3 smaller than a similar price tier restaurant. We did love the cocktails and mocktails as it s on the fresh and lighter side and not too sweet. white wine selection was ok.
We went on the day of opening. Nice vibe, rude server, they had ran out of certain cocktail ingredients on day 1 itself which is sad. Cocktails were decent. Overall, meh! The rude server needs to be thrown out
Wonderful addition to the neighbourhood! We loved every dish we ordered. Cocktails here are perfect. Great staff, great vibe. We will be back soon. Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian options.
Great spot, can t wait to go back. Scallops were delicious and beautifully presented. Steak tartare was fresh and light. Rigatoni was perfectly al dente. Tiramisu was heavenly.
Went there Friday night with 2 friends and the experience wasn t it with the prices. Bar wasnt stocked?? On opening day.. the food was alright but portion size was small and lots of oil. I thought this place was run by a celebrity chef? Don t see this place being around in a year if they don t improve on their service!!!!
Pathetically slow service. It took them an agonizing 10 minutes just to grace us with water. As for the bar, the only redeeming quality was the drinks, courtesy of a competent bartender. However, dont expect any ounce of hospitality from the serving staff. Despite the exorbitant $19 price tag for a PENICILLIN, their service was anything but stellar. Instead of a warm welcome, we were met with death stares, leaving us feeling unwelcome despite shelling out our hard-earned cash. If this is their idea of service, they might as well close shop before they tarnish their reputation any further.
Amazing....and just opened!
My partner and I have been twice in the first week because we love it so much! The cocktails are phenomenal, our server was incredibly friendly, the food was delicious (steak frites is a must try)! The east end is lucky to have this new gem, looking forward to going back.
Incredible spot. Great food, and beautiful interior. Really fun and inventive cocktail menu. The food is terrific...highly recommend the rigatoni, the streak frites, the artichoke. Cant wait to come back.
Beautiful restaurant design, attentive staff and above all, fantastic food. Will be back soon for sure!
Restauranteurs Roberto and Jacqueline Marotta have done it again with Bar Ardo, their new spot on King St. E. (its refreshing to see such great spots continue to open in the east end). The menu is very well curated, with Sicilian inspirations and more. The combination of ingredients and flavours is exceptional. One of Chef Robertos expert skills is sourcing the best quality ingredients, and this is evident here. Bar Ardo is casually stylish and boasts a standout, chic bar. And the playlist, which was clearly carefully and thorudgfully curated, adds to the already great vibe!
My experience at Bar Ardo was spectacular. The menu is fantastic, either for cocktails or a full meal. The space is stunning and just what King East needs. Will definitely be back!!
Food was good but portions small if you expect average to large plates then you will be disappointed. I am not into big portions so that was fine. Service was passable, but they were busy and newly opened thats to be expected. Steak,/frites was very disappointing. For the price i expected fresh cut fries, instead they tasted like they came from McDonalds... not cool!
Awesome spot
What a wonderful addition to the neighborhood. The Ardo team has outdone itself with this location. A superb experience from start to finish. Great cocktails including an extensive selection of nonalcoholic drinks. Delicious wines by the glass and every dish we had was a standout. Highly recommended.
Nice new cocktail bar in the neighbourhood. Good small plates, with some staple mains. Nice cocktails, decent service. Could do with expanding their wine list, but will be back.
Sampled a couple of dishes on opening night. Our server, Veronica, was wonderful. Look forward to trying more of the menu on our next visit
An exquisite new spot that already has the neighbourhood buzzing. The food is as tasty as it is picturesque Scarole and Carciofo were personal highlights. The cocktail menu is playful and expertly crafted, and the atmosphere is refined and welcoming. Looking forward to spending a lot more time here in the months ahead.
Amazing to see such a thoughtful addition to the neighbourhood. Incredible food as you d expect coming from Ardo, really can t wait to go back. The staff were so hospitable and really made you feel like family. We had the mussels, rigatoni and tartare and can t wait to come back to try the steak. The gelato is a must.
Great vibes, great cocktails; highly recommend for a chill night out.
We had a several appetizers, sides and mains. I liked everything, my favourite was the delicious chicken. I like dark meat with skin on. It s not a huge portion, however. Vegetarian options: The artichokes were not the best.
Mussels au gratin were 10/10! Service was friendly and professional. Would recommend, great addition to the neighbourhood! Food : 5/5
Amazing addition to the neighborhood.
This is exactly what the neighbourhood was missing! I am a fan of Ardo so I was very excited when I saw Bar Ardo was opening. And it didnt disappoint! Beautiful space, great vibe, delicious food, wine and cocktails.
I ve been a long time lover of Ardo but this place was a little disappointing for me :( not 3 stars just because they were so fresh when I went there but the main reason why I probably won t be back (even tho I live 3 min walk from here) is service. The host carried himself in an entitled manner, and in 1,5 min of conversation reminded us 3 times that they just opened 2 weeks ago when I had a question like your phone doesn t work properly or do you have a hanger (they don t, you sit with your coats). The servers seemed overwhelmed and tired. The food was alright, so were the drinks. Maybe my expectations were too high but I ll wait for a while if I am to come back - they need to reorganize a bit.
