Byblos represents a marriage of Eastern Mediterranean cuisine with strong influences from both traditional and local ingredients. The menu is a true coastal and cultural mosaic, served family style in a convivial atmosphere.
Absolutely wonderful restaurant. Great ambience and amazing Lebanese food. Our host Matt made our experience truly unique. Looking forward to visit again! Customers can park at the municipal parking at the next street.
Had a chance to try the tasting menu for a friends birthday and it was quite a great experience! We were a table of 10 and I have to say that the service was top notch. Lots of staff to help clear the table and answer any questions, always keeping an on the table service and super professional. The food was great as well! The first two servings was decent, with the serving size as expected for a tasting menu. Some had great flavour, while other items could be a pass. The final course was massive! Definitely save your appetite for the final plates. Lamb was incredibly tender and flavourful. Overall, I would recommend the tasting menu if you were looking to try different items at this spot.
Food was delicious, the 12oz steak was so tender and succulent. The middle eastern fried chicken was good, but a little on the heavier side. The short rib kebab was good, but I think the flavor was a little overpowering. We took some of the short rib to go and it tasted amazing the next day, so I think it was just all the sauces surrounding the plate that gave it too much flavor. The thrice cooked fries were a good side and comes with a tasty sauce. The aesthetics of the restaurant was great, felt very cozy while giving the upscale dining experience.
We booked Byblos Uptown to host our wedding reception and had an amazing experience. They were a huge help in planning the evening, paying attention to the smallest details, and making the process feel fun and light while being serious and passionate about their work. We were struck by the professionalism of the Byblos staff and it made the evening a huge success. All our guests raved about the place, and we're still getting questions about how we found it. They also appreciated the attentiveness of the staff, who were really friendly, sharp and took good care of us. The venue itself is gorgeous and intimate, creating an atmosphere of conversation and warmth. The food is stellar, which was very important to us since we have a family of big eaters. Everyone came away full and happy. Some of the hits included the branzino, the beef tartare, and the chocolate cake! This was a one of the most important nights of our lives, and they made it magical for us. Really happy with our choice to go with Byblos Uptown.
The ambiance and service was great. There’s a variety of options on the menu, love how the food is unique and not basic. Every item we ordered was tasteful, with unique flavours. Would definitely come back again!
We dined at Byblos and enjoyed a variety of shared plates, each dish presenting a visually stunning array of Mediterranean-inspired flavors. The atmosphere was inviting, and the service was exceptional, adding a warm touch to our dining experience. However, while each dish was beautifully presented and crafted with unique flavors—from the perfectly grilled fish to the richly spiced chickpea and rice bowls—the portion sizes were a bit underwhelming. For a place that promises a hearty Mediterranean feast, we left feeling that the servings could have been more substantial to match the incredible taste. If you're looking for an experience that combines exquisite flavors and ambiance, Byblos does deliver, but be prepared for a lighter meal despite the variety of dishes.
Beautiful ambiance, delicious food/drinks, and super attentive service! I came here for my friend’s birthday with 9 people and we had a preset menu. The portions were extremely generous for the amount we paid. We all left very full and happy! Plus, no additional fees to keep our own birthday cake/desserts in the fridge. Highly recommend!
Had a great experience. They have two location, it was my first time in this restaurant, they did an incredible job. The food was presented beautifully, the flavours were fresh. Great place for special occasions, dates and birthdays. They had really good cocktails, each cocktail was very different from one another, by taste and presentation. Great atmosphere and chill. Definitely would recommend the beef kebab.
We visited last night with another friend and we enjoyed our time there. The food was good but we found the portions to be a bit small. We ordered a bunch of apps and mains, along with a side of pita. My only feedback for the food would be the flavours were a bit bland compared to Lebanese or middle eastern cuisine. Honestly, their desert was the star of the show - we got the lemon olive oil cake to finish and it was plain delicious! Service was great and the staff actually care about your experience. Parking was easy to find nearby and we had a good first visit
Excellent food and service! We tried the octopus, grilled branzino, black rice truffle and short ribs. All very good.
Disappointed to choose this place for our anniversary. Food was cold and the salad was not fresh also was smelly. I ate just fries Food : 2/5 |
Five stars! Highly recommended. Every dish is exceptional. I ll definitely visit again. Food : 5/5 |
The restaurant had a wonderful ambiance and served delicious food. They offered halal options, and our waiter, Steward, was incredibly friendly, attentive, and welcoming.
Enjoyed every bite! We shared a bunch if plates between 4 of us and our server perfectly coursed them out so there was always fresh bites on the table. Dont sleep on the friend chicken and the shrimp wrapped in kattaif. 10/10! We found the atmosphere and service at this location to be superior to the downtown location. What a great suprise
My friends and I had a wonderful dinner at Byblos. The hospitality and ambience I felt were top notch, and I would definitely dine here again. Must order dishes are the branzino and wagyu beef kofta!
Well if you thought the food, service or vibe would be anything like the downtown location you will be sadly disappointed, the service was beyond pathetic, 45 minutes to get a round of drinks you literally had to flag down the wait staff..that also in a absolutely empty restaurant. On the positive side the food is presented beautifully but lacks flavour.
I had a very disappointing experience with Byblos Uptown, which is supposed to be a high-end, reputable restaurant. I spent hundreds of dollars on a birthday surprise, and the delivery was over an hour late, completely ruining the celebration. For a restaurant that prides itself on quality, the lack of professionalism was unacceptable. I tried calling several times and couldn t get through to anyone. At this price point, I expected much better service. If you re planning something important, don t rely on Byblos they clearly don t prioritize their customers or their experience.
Everything about the dining experience was fantastic. Ambience, service and food was immaculate - the lamb pide, wagyu beef kofta and grilled branzino being personal standouts. Will definitely be going back
Excellent experience, atmosphere, drinks and food!
The food and drinks were phenomenal, the ambience was perfect and the staff were fantastic. Will definitely be visiting again.
If you are looking for a curated dining experience serving up authentic Mediterranean cuisine Byblos is your place. Chic, quaint and cosy, the staff exceeded expectations and left us wanting to return soon. Keep it up team Byblos!!
Great food and wonderful staff, the decor is really wonderful and makes you feel really comfy
Been here twice so far and both times for a special occasion and the food and service has been fantastic and consistent. The fried chicken is a must try. Will definitely be coming back.
Average, very overpriced
Great atmosphere with amazing food.
Good was excellent everything was perfect but the servers was the best honest person he .made everything do perfect took his time to explain the dishes I highly recommend
Tonight dined at Byblos and while the taste was delicious, I was really disappointed with the portion size. I ordered the short rib, and it was surprisingly thin, more like an appetizer than a main course. There were nooo side dishes included, which made the meal feel incomplete. For the price, it didn t seem worth it, maybe if you spend just a bit more (around $10)in other restaurants, youd get a proper sized main course with sides included, which would be a much better value.
I prefer going with the pros first, the food is really perfect, it is the best thing about this place. The atmosphere is nice and enjoyable. The waiter was so nice, explained everything respectfully, and so friendly. They were a bit late to response but it was super busy so its understandable and not very problematic. But the bad parts, we had to wait for like 5 to 10 minutes although we had a reservation, even after that they gave us a table that there were lights from underneath, beside it. It was irritating so we had to wait for them to change the table. Another problem is honestly, the portion was so small. The cocktail wasnt exactly as I expected I ordered an old fashioned, but it wasnt sweet enough for an old fashioned. At the end, the food was that good that I am not leaving this place dissatisfied, but, its not going to be my favourite.
Fantastic service and food even better!
Went for special occasion dinner. Great vibes, great food and Matt provided exceptional service! It was a truly a great time and we enjoyed ourselves.
Very expensive!
3.5 stars Warm ambiance and good service. The food is under whelming and over priced for what it is. Small portions. Drinks arent memorable either. I dont understand this concept of serving a main without sides and having to order them separately which are also over priced.
Atmosphere and Service is Great at Byblos. However this is all it is. The Pide is absolutely amazing but that s about it, The food isn t anything crazy and there are much better options for mediterranean cuisine within the city, you re paying for the high end Toronto Dining Experience.
Great flavours, amazing atmosphere and the staff are wonderful
Spectacular! Hard to find this kind of quality and authenticity, would def come back.
Good food, nice ambiance, slow service
It was good, not great. This place has that elevated experience that people like, but overall we found it very loud and overrated. The Halloumi with honey ($18) was a tasty and nicely balanced starter. We ordered a few other things to try, and they were all underwhelming: the Wagyu beef kofta ($30!!), roasted cauliflower ($14) and arugula salad ($18) all tasted tangy and bland. They were a miss for me. Would not go back.
Everything was amazing! Its just like the original downtown location but in a brighter environment. I just wish they gave more than one pita bread with the hummus.
I recently tried the Truffle Pide at Byblos and it was amazing! As a vegetarian, its not always easy to find tasty options, but this dish was perfect. The Truffle Pide had a delicious flavor that made me want more with each bite. The cheese and truffle worked together so well, and the bread was baked just right. The restaurant itself is cozy and welcoming, with nice lights and decorations. Overall, I loved my experience at Byblos Uptown. Whether youre vegetarian or just love good food, I definitely recommend giving it a try!
Amazing food they offered, as well as nice customer service! I very much recommend them!
I brought my family here for dinner and everything was just out of our expectations! The atmosphere was super cozy and I would say this place is perfect for any occasion. The manager, Peter, was very friendly and attentive. He helped a lot in explaining the dishes to our family. Sophie and Raj were also attentive and mindful as our plates got changed before every course and water glasses were never empty the whole night. It was also our first time trying Eastern Mediterranean cuisine and surprisingly the food was amazing. There were 7 of us so we got to try quite a few dishes from the menu. Most of the dishes are ideally shareable and the taste is outstanding! They got the best lamb shoulder I ve ever had! Super tender, super flavorful, chef kiss! Everything else was very well-seasoned and aesthetically presented! Highly recommend lemon olive oil cake for dessert! Overall, our family had such an incredible experience at Byblos and we will definitely come back! Thank you for a memorable night!
The main course score was 6 out of 10 and the starter was 7 out of 10.atmosphere was good but people were so loud.the waiter was polite but service was so late for everything.
A while ago I had a few issues with Byblos Uptown but worked everything out with the manager who went out of his way to make things right. My group and I returned there for dinner last night and I am so glad we did. Not only were we treated like royalty, but the food was excellent. We each had a different dish but when it came to the table we decided to share everything. For us, this was definitely the best way to enjoy the meal. From the appetizers (pear and arugula salad, hummus, halloumi and roasted beets) to the main dishes (short rib kabobs, Middle Eastern fried chicken, harissa roasted half-chicken and whole grilled branzino) to the one cheesecake dessert we all shared, everything was top notch. The food, the service, the atmosphere, all were excellent. We would definitely go back and bring a few friends. Thank you Peter for arranging such a wonderful meal.
Great restaurant! Food is wonderful - tapas style! Dumplings were my favourite.
Absolutely great. The restaurant is beautiful and the food is amazinggg. The price is on the higher side but it s definitely worth it Food : 5/5
Thank you Peter for leading these amazing team that you have at this place. I had a wonderful time as always with my family and for sure we will be back to continue enjoying the amazing service and delicious good food!
Tucked away in the heart of downtown lies a hidden culinary treasure, offering an exquisite journey through Eastern Mediterranean cuisine. This vibrant restaurant, with its thoughtfully curated decor, strikes the perfect balance between modern elegance and cultural authenticity, setting the stage for an unforgettable dining experience. We began our evening with a selection of both cocktails and mocktails, each crafted with precision and flair. The Nightingale Sour stood out as a delicate blend of tart and sweet, followed closely by the Mediterranean Mule, a refreshing twist on the classic, infused with subtle hints of Eastern spices. The Byblos Old Fashioned was a masterful rendition of the traditional drink, enriched with a smoky undertone that lingered pleasantly. Roses Shadow brought an aromatic complexity to the table, while the Rose Gulab, though last in our ranking, offered a floral finish that was both unique and intriguing. The appetizers set the tone for the evening, showcasing the chefs dedication to both flavor and presentation. The manti dumplings were a revelation delicate parcels filled with seasoned meat, draped in a rich yogurt sauce that added a creamy contrast to the tender dough. The crispy shrimp were perfectly cooked, boasting a light, airy batter that gave way to succulent, sweet shrimp, each bite enhanced by a zesty dipping sauce. The black truffle & cheese pide was a delightful fusion of tradition and luxury, its earthy truffle notes marrying beautifully with the creamy cheese and crispy crust. For the main course, we indulged in the Middle Eastern fried chicken, a dish that elevated comfort food to new heights with its fragrant spices and crispy exterior, yielding to juicy, flavorful meat. The short rib kebab was the star of the evening a perfectly cooked cut that melted in the mouth, its deep, savory flavors complemented by a smoky char and a hint of sweetness. The black truffle rice was a luxurious side, each grain infused with the rich aroma of truffle, creating a harmonious blend of textures and tastes. Every dish was meticulously crafted, reflecting a deep understanding of ingredients and an artful approach to plating. The interplay of flavors in each course was a testament to the chefs skill, creating a dining experience that was both unique and comfortingly familiar. We concluded our meal with a complimentary seasonal gelato, a fitting end to a night of culinary delights. Celebrating a friend s birthday, this final touch was not just a dessert but a gesture of warmth and hospitality, encapsulating the restaurants ethos. In sum, this downtown gem offers a symphony of flavors in a setting that is both inviting and refined, making it a must-visit for those seeking an authentic taste of the Eastern Mediterranean with a modern twist. Parking: Theres no parking at restaurant, need to pay for parking on nearby streets, paid parking lots, or garages.
I ve lived in the area for a while but had never come here. They have a short menu but the food we ordered was great. Excellent drinks too.
Divine food, inovative, good service, friendly, attentive. Definitely will come back. I would love more dessert selections, Katayef is not really what it should be , this is my opinion. Food
Had a really good experience and especially since majority of the items here is HALAL. Came down here for a birthday celebration, and do not regret it. Everything was delicious except for the fish fillet, that was okay. 10/10 overall
Excellent cocktails; good food. Slightly overpriced for the quality of food. Great service.
Lovely place and great food
The halibut we ordered is not fresh. The meat was soft and it smelt fishy. This dish should not be served in that condition.
Came to the restaurant for Summerlicious and the experience was better than I expected. The foods were delicious and the service is top notch. Highly recommend!
Food was a little disappointing in the flavor department. Definitely better options out there for the price point but she service is great
Summerlicious dinner menu 3 courses. Beef tartare+ chicken & cheese cake. Taste good! Besides the lighting inside is a bit too dark. The rest are all good
Rude behavior by the management
Good food, slow service and staff werent very friendly
Ive been wanting to try Byblos for the longest time - was totally excited to finally check it out. I arrived with my dinner companion and told the hostess that I had reservations for two - based on her reaction, it didnt seem like they had a table reserved for us, but I digress. When I first laid eyes on the menu, I couldnt have been more excited. There were countless dishes that I wanted to try. We ended up ordering six items to share - the dishes were very hit or miss. The crispy stuffed olives were pretty bad. Cant say that Ive ever had worse olives at a restaurant. They were battered and fried. Because the olives were so small, the batter completely overwhelmed the olives - could not taste the olives at all, let alone whatever it was stuffed with. The labneh was a very good dish. If I could bring myself to recommend this restaurant, which I cant, I would recommend this dish. The combination of all the ingredients and the pita worked so well together. That said, they gave only three small measly pieces of beets. My dinner companion told me that years ago, the dish had much larger pieces of beets - thats shrinkflation for you. The tuna tartare was a miss. The flavor was flat and one dimensional - it could have used some acid or something. The pairing of watermelon with the tuna was ok taste wise, but visually deceptive - it looked like there was a lot more tuna than there actually was. The lamb ribs were pretty good, which says a lot, as I dont typically enjoy lamb. The lamb was tender, not gamey and had a good crust for flavor. The short rib kebab was definitely a hit for me. Tender, flavorful, good portion size...it gets the chefs kiss! Lastly, the roasted cauliflower was a big miss. It was kind of inedible. It was bitter and under seasoned. The restaurant was nicely designed and provided an enjoyable atmosphere. Unfortunately, I prioritize food over atmosphere. I will not be returning. One final note, we were sharing the dishes over two courses. When the staff cleared the plates from the first course, they started to walk away, then one of the staff came to his senses asked if we wanted fresh plates and cutlery for the next course. It really shouldnt even have been a question, but kudos to the staff who realized what good service entails.
Food was okay, waitress was miserable she brought down the vibe. The place is very beautiful on the inside though.
Delicious middle eastern food. Very intimate atmosphere, favorite dish for all was the pide and beef short rib. Great wine list. Very attentive staff.
The ambience, food and service were excellent! Highly recommended!
Sadly, I had a higher expectations for this place as I really enjoy their downtown location but it was one of the worst experiences of my life, I got food poisoning because of their garlic sauce, I stayed in bed for 2 days unable to move (not gonna mention the symptoms). I don t know what to say, just not recommended at all, stick to the downtown location as it s much better.
6 adults and two kids - all very happy. Food was truly elevated and delicious, as was the service. Would recommend every dish we ordered really looking forward to going back. Kid-friendliness: It s a big lively spot - kids fit right in.
Warm and cozy spot for a family dinner or a celebration. It s not very loud and service is pretty good. We got the lamb shoulder for the main course, it was highly recommended and the most popular dish apparently. We loved it! However, we felt it was over priced for a dinner for three.
If you re looking for authentic but unique Middle Eastern food, this is the spot. Almost every dish we tried was a 10/10. Flavors and presentation of each dish were on point and only left you wanting more. The drinks were also fantastic. Louis was our server, and he really made this experience a memorable one. Top dishes of the night were the Labneh, Lamb Pide, Octopus, Fried Shirmp, Fried Chicken, and the Branzino. Desserts were also great. Cheesecake and the Lemon Olive Oil cake were delicious. Highly recommend and definitely will be returning!
When I come to a high-end restaurant, I expect the best in terms of food, creativity, and taste. The service is good, actually very good, but the decore and ambiance fell short, very short. Very noisy setup, and the decore is extremely minimal. Going back to what matters, the most, the food. The Labneh, which is their pride since they prepared it in-house, was average. The chef missed adding salt or any additional stuff to make it taste better. The fried eggplant is tasteless. It was something fried but no eggplant. Moving on to the stuffed eggplants, that were they tried to be creative, and honestly, that is an upside down tomato eggplan, you can call it, constructed. It tasted good, but again, missing spices and slat. The kafta, which was my worst nightmare but preferred by my friend, was so hot that I would have returned back... The fish was good. The humus was also ok. Fast forward to the labneh cream cheesecake, which is totally a hit, but seriously, this is not different than what anyone can prepare at home with a Philadelphia and a 30% wip cream Overall, the experience of food plus experience vs price, this is below average experience. Parking: Side street parking.
Great ambiance but our main course was delayed and brought something else by mistake then took 20-25 minutes for the correct one to arrive when we were almost full. However they provided free desert to apologize for that. Most of the foods was a bit spicy, hot but beautifuly presented. Drinks were amazing too.
Byblos in uptown offers a fusion of Eastern Mediterranean cuisine, blending traditional and local ingredients. Their dishes highlight the regions distinctive spices and flavors through a mix of classic techniques and modern methods. I recently attended a birthday party at Byblos and was thoroughly impressed. The four-course meal was outstanding, and the staffs hospitality made the experience truly memorable.
I came to this place for the first time to celebrate my birthday. I liked the food, thanks for the excellent service, very tasty drinks. I definitely recommend this place if it s a special day for you , 5/5
This place just never fails to deliver pure deliciousness, ambiance and service. Service by Luis was exceptional. Can t come here enough!
Short rib kebab + jeweled rice + halloumi You can thank me later Food
Roger was our host, what a great guy! Excellent service. Helped answer questions about the menu. We went there as a family with 2 young kids and we knew what we wanted to eat on mothers Day. We ate, labneh, beet pita, Manti dumplings, truffle pide, Wagyu beef kofta, fried chicken and triple cooked fries. We enjoyed everything and would love to come back again. Thanks to Byblos for such a lovely experience.
Fantastic place. One of the best culinary experiences Ive had. It is pricey but for a special occasion its acceptable. Its nice to see familiar Turkish elements fused with other Middle Eastern elements. The decor is nice as well.
Atmosphere was good. The waiter was friendly. Salad was stale! The food (fish) was very badly served and tatsless! The bill was very high for the food we were served! NOT recommended at all!
I prefer this location over downtown! Peter welcomed us warmly, which was a really pleasant start. The food was exceptional, though the dessert was just okay. Nonetheless, the ambiance and service were truly outstanding!
Always enjoyable dining here. Upscale Mediterranean with delicious cocktails also.
Rude service! My girlfriends and I went in for dinner and the server didnt even come to our table for the first 30 minutes. Food is expensive and very bland. Not authentic Middle Eastern cuisine. The server even talked down to one of my friends who was just explaining her allergies. She acted like we couldnt afford to eat here! Will not be coming back to be talked down to. Much better Middle Eastern restaurants in Toronto.
This was our first time at the uptown location. While the ambiance of the restaurant and the presentation of the food was great, the flavors werent quite as good as we recalled from a few years ago. The food tasted a little over-seasoned (the wagyu kofta) and the manti dumplings were a little overcooked. The octopus was phenomenal though! As always, the service was excellent.
Everyone beware. The staff/server tendency is to deceive guests. I wa dat the restaurant today on Monday as part of the uncover journalist survey. Wines were supposed to be half price. As advertised at eh sign outside . If I didnt mention it, I would ah been charged 100%z at the end of the nail I was presented with a bill for a bottle of wine for $140... until I asked it was supposed to be half price. Octopus I ordered was too spicy and my stomach is still hurting /price $30, size tiny, too spicy. Pitta bread - lowest quality ; eggplant appetizer - awful - sweet and cunning - abs breaded- HOW? Turkish place , dulls of decorous staff. .. The server didnt mention any of those details! there is a hidden strategy to deceive a client . Please check all your bills and perhaps just have a coffee there.. a place full of thieves and Lyers. And bargain and fortunate . Terrible NON CANADIAN experience Shocked!! Please be DIcum. Overall nice ambiance. Just be prepared to be fooled. And the food is so so. Terrible!!
The atmosphere is amazing and it has incredible interior design. I could not stop watching my surroundings. The details were awesome! The food was good as well. Definitely recommended. Food
Very tasty food and amazing atmosphere!
Highly overated and overpriced (Vegetarians should stay away) !! Atmosphere 5Star Service 5Star Food Taste 1Star - We ordered Hummus, Arugula-Pear Salad, Lentil Pida and Stuffed Eggplant. 3 Cocktails Except for Lentil Pida everything else was less than ordinary and measly served. Arugula Salad was plain bitter, Eggplant was not fresh (chewy means not fresh eggplant).
Highly recommend! They don t call this place best Middle Eastern restaurant for nothing. It was a Saturday night, I understand how busy it is, the restaurant was packed. However, the service was great, they took care of our table very well and food came out just on time. That s pretty impressive. Hands down for the Chefs! We ordered Roasted Chicken, Short Rib Kebab, Lamb Rib, Octopus, Jewelled Rice, Gem Salad and Fries. Love every dishes. Roasted Chicken is highly recommend. Finished the whole dish, flavoured , juice and tender. Short Rib was suggested best seller. It was very good. I recommend to have it with rice or pita bread. Best Lamb Rib in Toronto, no doubt. I wished the chef put less sesame on it, next time I will tell them. Octopus and Salad were tasty as well. Loved the tahini dressing on the salad. Definitely will come back and try different menu items.
Delicious food in a nice atmosphere. Definitely try a few appetizers and share. Dont forget to add a side to your protein dish. The Truffle Rice was delicious.
Food came quickly and the beef tartar was a standout. Just wish the portion was bigger for the price. The lamb was good too and a solid portion. The restaurant is beautiful inside with great ambiance
A disappointing dining experience unfortunately. While Byblos has a very pretty and nice interior and atmosphere, the service and the food sadly did not match. Firstly it was hour from the time we were seated to when the entrees were delivered - and were there for early seating! Second, when the food did arrive, the short rib kebab was lukewarm - it would have been much better had it been hot. The crispy chicken, while warm, was over cooked on the exterior and quite hard to bite into. Clearly deep fried a little too long. Now for the service .the main server was inattentive and not very warm, friendly or engaging. The bright part were the support staff and busboys - they were kind and courteous. Overall, this was a letdown. Update: received an email from Management to call and discuss experience. Will update after
Nice place, friendly staff,great food
Tried the set vegetarian menu here - enjoyed it but would still prefer a la carte and stick to Byblos vegetarian bangers. The fried eggplant was delicious, as was the labneh and manti dumplings (as expected- I am the #1 fan of the dt location). All around great and attentive service. Beautiful ambience. The roasted eggplant main dish, cauliflower and hummus unfortunately lacked flavour and stood nowhere close to their other dishes. I had also really hoped their set menu would include barbari bread - alas it does not! Cocktails were average - my marrakesh garden drink was a bit too diluted. One of the salads was also a bit too acidic for my taste (do not know the name). Overall, l, I would return for their a la carte and continue to have a *slight* preference for the downtown location.
Absolutely delicious winterlicious menu! The ambiance is gorgeous in this restaurant and the food and service was equally as amazing! The standout for me was the branzino, it was so flavourful and light! Honestly, maybe the best branzino I ve ever had! Would totally recommend this spot!
It was a Friday night, and we wanted a good piece of lamb to eat at home. So, we ordered the lamb shoulder and the short rib kebab. Both items were heavy on soy sauce, not properly balanced, and overly salty. So, both dishes needed a bit of white or brown sugar for balance. Though the lamb shoulder was tender, it was dark, unappealing, and the chef should have made sure that some of the excess fat was trimmed off. I didnt enjoy the food and I will NOT eat at or order takeout from this location again. Ive dined it at Byblos Downtown, and their food was significantly better than Byblos Uptown (this location).
Beautiful decor, good ambiance. Unfortunately, it was all downhill from there. We went for Winterlicious dinner and ordered the fried halibut kibbeh (overdone), wagyu beef kofta (overly dense, dry) and lemon olive oil cake (tasteless). Service was pathetically slow. Poor value for money. Would not go back.
Went for winterlicious. Food was very good especially the waygu kofta. Our server was very friendly and attentive. Loved the interior minus a very loud table beside us. First time there and I would return.
Fantastic service, food was good. Hummus was great and so were the dumplings. Short ribs, chicken and branzino for mains were also good. Point deducted because somenof the food was not hot and the actual dish with the chicken was really chipped in all over.
Best winterlicious menu and wonderful service , I had try the hummus and it was amazing .
Had a great experience there. The food tastes and the vibe were perfect We had octopus for starters and it was delicious. Then we had wagyu pide and stuffed eggplant. The sauces were perfectly matched and drinks had new flavours which were very tasty. It was my birthday and we were also treated with a chocolate cake.
The vibe is great, servers are friendly and the food is good no complaints, the crispy shrimp was amazing and stood out. Everything else was interesting or just good. Would go back.
It s a vibe. Crispy shrimp and truffle rice
Its an great experience. I recently visited with my friends, we really enjoyed. Food was awesome. Will visit again
This place is a joke. Cancels orders when they are supposed to be delivered fir important occasions Been going for years personal and corporate. Last time...
Made reservations here for Valentine s Day since we wanted to try it for a while and heard good things. The food was great, the service was some of the worst I ve ever experienced. Very slow, clearly they were short staffed. We were sitting for over an hour before we received our first course. The wine parings were not served with our courses. The manager was walking around assisting every other table and apologizing for the wait, however we were completely ignored. Not recommended if you value service.
Fantastic Middle Eastern Food with lots of choices, Good portions and packed with flavor. We got great recommendations for vegetarian dishes from our server and everything we tried was delicious. The lebneh was smooth and the perfect texture for the pita. It also went well with the fried eggplant which was not too heavy and larger portion than expected. The haloumi was also very good. Love truffle and was not disjointed with both the truffle pida and truffle rice, both had an incredible combination of flavors. Chocolate lava cake had an ethnic twist with Chai ice cream. All with attentive service and a great atmosphere. Planning to go back and try the rest! Vegetarian options: Lots of veggie options. The lebneh and truffle pida, and truffle rice were some favorites.
A very beautiful ambiance, the food portion is decent. The service was excellent. The only downfall is that the proteins are not served with any side. You basically have to pay extra for rice, fries, veggies, etc... otherwise, you just get bare chicken or meat for $30-$40 a plate. Make sure you order your side if you are starving and enjoy! Will definitely visit again :)
Loved the space it was really cute and the food was yummy, service was good and the manager gave us mocktails on the house for our anniversary! Dietary restrictions: Halal options available
Great food, great ambience
The best food ever. Love this place. Definitely coming back and bringing my friends.
Amazing food. Delicious, fresh, and tasty. I would definitely recommend anyone who wants to try something unique and different to give this place a shot. I love the atmosphere as well. A very cute and warm design.
Perfect place for a dinner date.
We just had our New Years family eve dinner. The food was exceptional, the service was pleasant, considerate and attentive. A wonderful experience for the whole group. Highly recommended.
It was new years night, so Im sure the restaurant was chaotic, despite this the food was exceptional, we really enjoyed the rice, tuna dish as well as the steak. Portions were great for a tasting menu, (possibly the largest portions I ve seen for a tasting menu) The vybs - honestly the vybs were off for us. I was expecting more middle eastern music with the live DJ however I understand this is a personal problem. Service, our server was okay. We were pretty happy that the wine list had Pol Roger so we decided to order this for the table. The champagne was hot. This is honestly unacceptable, Give us notice if it is warm so we can take another bottle. The server was informed but didn t really know what to do, ( we assumed she was new and needed more training which is fine) we asked her to get us some chilled flutes so we can enjoy the bottle, she brought some kinda chilled glasses but it didn t really help, when we checked the bucket, later in the night the ice had melted and no one checked it. Because of the service we didn t really enjoy our night. All in all we may not come back because of the hiccups on service. We do wish the management & staff at Babylos all the best for the new year and hopefully they can improve. We do recommend them solely on food
Great food and service. Will definitely go back next time Im in Toronto. We visited Byblos as a group and everyone really enjoyed it.
Visited Byblos a few months ago for an anniversary. The food was phenomenal! The octopus and halloumi were to die for! Our server was also really sweet and friendly!
I recently ordered a dinner for four for delivery via Doordash and Tock from Byblos uptown for a couples dinner party we were having. Unfortunately we were delivered a meal for two. We were extremely embarrased and called but received no callback and had to scramble to order something else for dinner. Our guests were understanding but disappointed. The next day the manager called to apologize. Not expecting much given how difficult it is for the restaurant industry at present, I was shocked by the sincerity of the manager Peter and what he offered us. The food and atmosphere at Byblos has always been outstanding. However the empathy shown to us by Peter is what makes a customer return over and over. I would have recommened Byblos uptown at the best of times, but given the response we received, I now I have a reason to post a review. I highly recommend Byblos for the food, the atmosphere but also for the people and the service.
Great dining experience. Bit on the pricey end but good quality makes up for the price. Dietary restrictions: Halal
The food and the atmosphere were just OK for $100 per person. I shared fried chicken, short rib kebabs, fried shrimp, and cauliflowers with friend and got an old fashion. Nothing was particularly bad, but they weren t great either. I d say the chicken and the shrimps were better than the other items I tried. I also didn t understand the point of using upside down rugs on top of the seats.
Great food great vibe
This is the first time that I ve tried this Location, food was garbage. I think the chef doesn t have any idea of how to cook. They are just ruining Dt branch reputation.
I love Byblos consistency. Haven t been here for years but always the same quality of food and service. Their lamb ribs appetizers are my favourite. My go-to dish. Their truffle rice is phenomenal. Branzino was perfectly cooked, tender and juicy. Short ribs kebab was pleasant. I ve been getting disappointed by other high-end restaurant s lack of professional service but I was happy dining at Byblos from the start to the end. Also they re very reasonably priced.
A refined and creative take on middle Eastern cuisine. Great food that far exceeded my high expectations! Friendly and attentive servers were happy to make recommendations which were all fantastic.
Food is great, but service could use some work. I prefer the downtown Byblos much better.
Exceptional, quick service Superb interiors with such sweet, cozy Mediterranean Middle Eastern vibe Vegetarian options: Plenty of vegetarian options to choose from
The foods great, but the carpets and chairs and tables are looking worse for wear
Awesome food with great service. Love how they put pistachio in everything.
If you are looking for a beautiful space, friendly service and a fusion twist on traditional dishes this could be your place.
Fabulous food and good atmosphere.
Enjoyed the summerlicious menu! Food and service were both outstanding. We enjoyed the hummus, lamb ribs, and truffle and cheese pide to start. Everything was flavourful and the portions were a very good size. For our mains we enjoyed the branzino fillet and the kofta. And for dessert we all had the chocolate olive oil cake. Drinks were made expertly and service was fantastic. Will definitely return!
The ambience is modern and chic, however, the food was not as great for my taste buds. I ordered the Jewel rice and Short ribs but the ribs had a bitter after taste. The chef however, made up with the dessert. The Chocolate, Olive Oil Cake and pommegrante Gelato was heavan on a plate.
Weve been there a couple of times now and the food is amazing but the service is fairly slow. The servers have been super friendly but weve waited roughly 30mins between courses. We were seated at the table with couches on the ground floor. They were are a little uncomfortable. The cushions for back support take up most of the real estate on the couches so youre really close up against the table. The table is way too high for the couches. Byblos should conduct some user testing and swap around furniture. Additionally, one of the glasses we received was chipped. We noticed it when we used the glass and were concerned about getting a cut. For high end restaurant like Byblos, this is absolutely unacceptable.
We went to the Byblos downtown location in the past and wanted to check out the uptown location. The interior is beautiful and the service and atmosphere were top notch. We ordered the ribs to start and had beef kofka and fried chicken as mains. We also had the fries and rice as sides. My favourite was the beef and the fried chicken but the fries were also amazing! Will definitely recommend to anyone thats looking for a nice date spot in the area
Came here for summerlicious, and it was delicious!
Went in with a group of 16. The group menu option cost $75 each person and the portions are incredibly small. Everyone was limiting the amount of food they eat, small portions, small plates. Bad experience.
Came here for Summerlicious on Tuesday, but they ended it last weekend, so we ordered single items from the menu. We ordered beef tartare, lamb shoulder, roasted cauliflower, roasted beets and labneh cheesecake. Every item we ordered was worth coming back for except roasted beets. It was good but just my taste is on the savoury side. Services were perfect as the waiter kept his eyes on our table without interrupting the dining if not necessary, so we didnt even get the chance to refill the water in the glasses by ourselves. Definitely coming back for the items we like also trying other items!
Amazing experience for a friend s birthday! Delicious food! The best part was the awesome server who is also the Bar Manager! His name is Matt! If you re the owner or another big boss of this restaurant, please give this man a huge raise! Never met such a lovely, wonderful, funny and thoughtful server! Thank you Matt for making our evening so memorable!
Hugely overpriced. Food below average. Dated furniture. Warn carpets with holes. Wet seat. Turkish coffee was cold. Cheesecake was frozen and melted all over the plate. Main dish for $45 did not include a side, had to order it separately.
This has to be one of the best middle Eastern restaurants in the city. I highly recommend you try the Truffle Pide. I think this place also makes one of the best steaks in Toronto as well. They have two locations, both are good, but uptown one has better ambiance. Furthermore, the cheesecake is a must if you try the Desserts.
Byblos offers amazing Mediterranean cuisine and the food is full of flavor and unique spices. I went here on multiple occasions and the food has been consistently great. Every time I come, I would order the Pide (flatbread), lamb ribs, and short rib kebab along with the side dishes. I highly recommend trying these dishes out if it is your first time coming. The décor and atmosphere were beautiful; it feels cozy and warm. The service was alright and the staffs were attentive enough to ensure a smooth dining experience; nothing extraordinary. Really looking forward for my next visit!
We came here for our anniversary and it was incredible. The food, the staff, the ambiance was amazing. The drinks were amazing too, I had to get multiple! They were incredible, every aspect and I would come here again. Definitely recommend everyone to come here. such a wonderful experience, thank you Byblos staff. In short= vibes af Update: came back for anniversary and I still love Byblos
Came here for my cousins birthday. We loved everything about this place. The food was amazing! Literally everything we got.
Went to celebrate my friends birthday. Our server Matt was delightful and made amazing drinks, Nightingale sours and Verbena bliss. We ordered our starters, lamb ribs (so tender and juicy) Crispy shrimp (the crunch of the batter just melts in your mouth!!), halloumi (couldnt taste the wild flower honey but was still delicious) and the Wagyu Lahmeh (a flatbread that was so light and delectable) all beautifully seasoned, not a crumb was left behind!! Then we ordered our mains, sauteed greens(needed more S&P) Whole grilled branzino (this is not whole it was filleted, but still very tasty and cooked to perfection) Trice fries (just like MCains, very disappointing) and the wagyu kebob (so salty and spiced so much that your couldnt taste the wagyu) But even though our mains were very disappointing (we never got charged for these and we very much appreciated that they did that for us) it will not stop me from returning to try the other things on the menu. OH! The chocolate Olive oil cake was so extravagantly decadent, i dare you not to try it. A great finalè to a lovely evening....and yes i would reccommend.
Starters was so good . Lamb dish liked it
I was a bit concerned by the reviews of this location, but we decided to visit regardless for our anniversary. We had a wonderful time and really enjoyed the combination of flavours. I do think they elevate Middle Eastern foods and flavours. The Lamb ribs were really good. They were a bit fatty but that was welcomed. The wagyu beef kofta was amazing, but even better with the black truffle rice. The fried chicken by itself was okay. But with the honey based sauce, it was something special. The chocolate olive cake was also really good, and unique in its flavours.
The food is not the same. Short ribs kebab was bland and smelly and the rest was average m. Service was choppy
Amazing cocktail. Lovely service. Great time. Delicious food. Halibut beef tartar humus all amazing.
Wonderful and amazing experience. Food and service both were class
First Timer As the title states, this was my first experience with this type of food and culture aside from your local shawarma spots. I came in with an open mind and palette, not really knowing what to expect. My girlfriend is Indian so the spices and food was familiar to her, I couldn t say the same for me because I wasn t use to it but I thoroughly enjoyed it. We got the fried chicken which had a different spin on it but it was delicious, same for the koftas which reminded a lot like a meatball essentially. We ended with a Baklava for my birthday and that was probably my highlight as the flavour profile for it was delightful. Overall, this was more on the expensive date night side which I don t see myself having often but if you re in the mood to try something different and have an experience, this place definitely delivers!
Amazing food. Great ambience.
Those dumplings!!
Excellent experience! The food was flavourful and delicious. We started with the manti dumplings (11 in the dish), main was the lamb shoulder for 2 and waygu beef kofta meatballs. Sides were truffle rice and trice cooked fries. Dessert labneh cheesecake and baklava. Cocktail nightingale sour and Ankara elixir (coffee based), and Lebanese Musar Jeune red wine. Everything was superb except the truffle rice and baklava were average. The lamb while delicious was very fatty. With flat white coffee, bill for three came to $320 + tip. I d definitely return. I d like to try their fall menu. Service was top notch. It wasn t noisy, crowded or rushed.
First time here, meeting a friend for dinner and a drink. We ordered multiple apps to share and a drink each. The food and drinks were delicious, the staff was very friendly. The decor and ambiance spectacular, the only downside is I found it quite expensive...Oh, and there is lots of street parking, if you are driving
One of the best in midtown
My wife and I celebrated my 50th bday here tonight. The food, ambience, and service were awesome. We had the octopus and wagyu lahmeh for starters, and our mains were the stuffed eggplant and whole grilled branzino fish. Although everything tasted really good, the wagyu lahmeh is a must. I also highly recommend the grilled fish. The olive oil chocolate cake we had for dessert was really delicious! Matt was our waiter and he was attentive and very thoughtful. Thank you for making tonight special!
Pretty mediocre. Location looks nice and ambience is good but the food and service didn t live up to the standards. For one, the menu is a bit uninspiring and not clear the fried chicken didn t come with anything except for sauces. For $36, it was literally just fried chicken pieces. I don t mind the price tag but I m confused by the proposition. Then there was the starters. The tuna tartare was just about ok. The wood fired pide was decent. The two drinks we got were also not great. The old fashioned was too bitter so not a great way to shell out $170+ for a 2-person dinner. Service was also not great. We found our server was quite impatient sometimes and instead of explaining things, we were a bit hurried. The table was also sitting at an angle and the seats were too slidey. Honestly, I expect better for something that approaches $200.
This past weekend we celebrated a 40th birthday at this location. We booked the small party room that seats 10. It is an intimate room, that allows for privacy. The food was delicious, and the service was phenomenal. There were a number staff floating throughout the restaurant, eagerly waiting to serve customers. We had an overall wonderful experience. Thank you to all the staff for helping us create wonderful memories.
Beautiful and delicious:)
Beautiful interior, flavourful food and nice dinner ambiance. Best place to go if you want to try different food and you don t mind sharing.
Food is really good but service was poor and not able to split our bills properly. Even the manager came and said cannot split, system will take long.
Byblos Lebanese restaurant is a culinary delight. The moment you step in, the inviting ambiance sets the tone for an exceptional dining experience. The menu offers a tantalizing array of authentic Eastern Mediterranean dishes that burst with flavor and freshness. From succulent lamb, fried chicken to flavorful Wagyu Lahmeh. Every dish is a testament to the chefs skill and dedication. The service is impeccable, with attentive staff who are eager to make your visit memorable. Bar Tender Matt was able to make my old fashioned with Jalapeños *Chefs Kiss*. Our server Kayleigh? Made my Moms Birthday, even more special. Restaurant is cozy, yet stylish decor adds a touch of elegance to the dining experience. Whether youre a fan of Mediterranean cuisine or new to it, Byblos is sure to leave a lasting impression. Its a must-visit for anyone seeking an exquisite taste. I will be back
Worst experience ever. The food was okay but the server was giving us so much attitude, the food came very late too and cold. Do not recommend this location. The downtown location was much better!
Love everything about this place! A must try . Food
Delicious food, wonderful service, cosy atmosphere and intimate ambience - music is not too loud - great choice for dates, anniversaries and special occasions!
Came here with a few friends to celebrate a birthday . I ordered the g&t from their menu . It was good. We ordered the Turkish dumplings and the truffle pide to start - both were good. We got the lamb shoulder - it was definitely overpriced and theyve changed it a lot - used to be much more tasty and better to make into sandwiches. We had desert too - it was ok . Not that memorable .
The short rib was delicious, so was the jeweled rice. The baklava rolls were not too sweet and were a perfect way to end the meal.
Came here for a team dinner. $75/pp set menu was small portion for each dish, basically just one bite. Eventually ordered a takeout to pay separately with the team bill but got charged for 18.5% service fee by default. Makes no sense.
Amazing food!!! Great service
Food is very tasty and dependable. Uptown location is bright and cute. Service left a little to be desired but will still return.
Very disappointed from the food and dessert. The food tastes salty and the meat quality was bas too. Chicken was like KFC chicken so don t bother trying it.
I deducted 1 star because appetizers took about 50 mins.
Food was great, service was very good except for the fact that they downplay their portions so that you order more items, then you have a table full of food that you have to bring home. The place is, however, SO RUN DOWN its embarrassing, the carpets (yeah, carpets) are dirty and damaged, the upholstery is destroyed, the seat cushions are completely worn down; it made our dinner uncomfortable and makes the place look old and dirty. If that is the condition of the dining area I dont want to see what the kitchen looks like.
Loved the atmosphere and tasty food options. Service was a little slow but still a great place for date night
10/10. Amazing service from beginning to end. Wonderful food, great ambience and vibe! We had a great time and will love to return and have recommended Byblos to friends and family as well!
While the dishes are meant to be enjoyed family style, we opted for a more traditional three course meal. The food was well prepared and showcased the Mediterranean flavours. Service was a bit on the slower side, but w weren t in a rush, so things worked out. As we were about to order dessert, a friend stopped by our table to highly recommend the baklava. Unfortunately, it has since been taken off the menu. We had the labneh cheesecake instead and it was equally delicious. Parking: There is paid street parking right outside, a Green P around the corner, or free street parking depending on time of day.
This place is fire
Significantly overpriced. At lower end of the value/price balance. Terrible entrance, worn out carpets. Not satisfied.
Great food, vibes, atmosphere!
Dined there on Dec 9th, 2023. As you step in there, the atmosphere is vibrant inside as the interior is beautifully decorated which makes you think you are dining in at a different country The seating is great as they probably have the best booths that I have ever sat in a restaurant as they would like to make you feel at the comfort of your own home. There service could have been better especially for their menu price point. I would have appreciated if the server was engaging by bringing that excitement or enthusiasm in giving recommendations try their authentic Mediterranean/ Turkish food. On the other hand it was pretty cool that the bus boy came to exchange our plateware for the main course. Besides the service, the food was excellent as the appetizer was unique and the main course was spectacular! Their lamb was tender and fall off the bone their fried chicken was also tasty with a unique glaze in the breading. Nothing is complete with their great tasting wood fired pita! Which I believe has a honey glaze This is a fantastic spot if you want to bring a special someone, celebrate an occasion or come in with friends
The food is amazing, but every time you go to pay your bill, they trick you. At both locations, it has happened multiple times for me where the server tries to charge you more, especially when settling the table. They assume you may not notice charges for two extra appetizers, and it feels disheartening to anticipate this every single time, despite loving the food.
The food was absolutely amazing. Everything was laid out well and made us feel like we were at a super high end restaurant. The atmosphere was very cozy and had a homey feeling to it that complimented the food and made us feel very comfortable. Our server Aynsley was such an amazing person, she gave us great recommendations throughout the night and was very friendly and accommodating. She also arranged to bring out a birthday dessert for my dad which made his night even more special. Thank you for an amazing night! Definitely recommend this restaurant for any occasion :)
Absolutely love coming back here with friends for a tasty meal, especially the lamb shoulder Parking: Green p lot around the corner
