I usually love the spicy veggie eggplant, but this time, I was very disappointed! They added plenty of veggie oil to the dish to make it look like theres a lot of sauce, which changed the whole taste! Disgusting Vegetarian options: Veggie eggplant

We ordered 4 dishes and were ridiculed by the host for the amount we ordered. Constant jokes about our appetite and comments made like you like to eat, dont you? Wow, you really ordered a lot of food! Restaurant was not clean. Chefs coming in out of the washroom. Tofu was uncooked and rubbery. Spring-rolls and dumplings were all oil. Terrible experience.

Very disappointing! Ordered take out for the first time in quite a while and the food is no where as good as it was in the past.Greasy cool and tasteless.

First time ordering from Cest Bon and was influenced by positive reviews and friends recommendation. Sad to say - very disappointed!! So, homemade egg rolls - not great; sweet and sour chicken balls - worst I have ever had - they were dry and some had NO chicken at all; the sauce was okay. The chicken wings were nothing special. The vegetable-fried rice was okay but over-priced relative to portion size. The beef with onions and ginger was good as was the chicken with cashews and vegetables - good but not outstanding. I gave service a 4/5 because our order was ready on time but the attendant was far from pleasant. Overall - wide range of quality from awful to good; relatively small portion sizes that are overpriced.

This place used to be pretty okay but it now has smaller portion sizes for a higher cost. And honestly the quality of our last ordered was pretty mediocre. Not sure we ll be going back.

Ive been going here for 20 years the food still good and yes the prices have changed but thats not their fault you can thank Justin Trudeau for that.

The food was tasteless. The shrimp was soft and rubbery. Very disappointed. Have been ordering for 15 years and I was very disappointed. The portions were smaller albeit more expensive. This was Boxing Day a time to impress more of their clients but instead it was awful.

We were expecting great service considering the reviews but this is one of the worst Chinese food i have ever tasted. Just tasted wrong! The sesame chicken tasted rubbery and the rice wasn t cooked traditionally. I wouldn t suggest them to a friend.

Food was awesome

Classic North American style Chinese food.

Not only is the food overpriced, the portions are extremely small. If you want to pay 50% more than what you would pay at the food court, this would be it. I paid $70 for 3 small plates of food. In terms of taste, it tasted subpar especially the way the made their sweet and sour chicken. In one piece, it was 80% batter and 20% meat. My parents wanted to try this place, but I would recommend Congee Queen instead.

Food is good but it is nothing special. Not worth the price anymore. One fried rice, one noodle dish and one soup is over $50.00.

This Chinese food spot in Toronto has become my absolute favorite. It brings back memories of the long-lost China House on Eglinton that closed years ago.

I don t understand the bad reviews of place! I was hesitant to come in because of all the trash talking. My food was delicious! I had the general Tao chicken, and it was lovely! Service was friendly and quick. Don t believe the bad reviews!

I find their quality of food is always good. The pricing I would like cheaper but their food is pretty good and worth it :)

My husband and I had lunch here today and it was absolutely delicious. I had the lunch combo number five, and he had Kung Pao chicken. First of all, Lee is such a wonderful and attentive server. She is incredibly friendly, and really went out of her way to make sure that we were enjoying the meal, and would often check to see if we needed anything. I accidentally spilled the spring roll sauce, and she was so incredibly kind and cleaned it up immediately. Food is so delicious and the portions are huge! You definitely will not leave hungry. We were both so stuffed after eating, but the food was so delicious, we definitely had no regrets eating so much! Given the rising food costs, we felt that the prices were incredibly fair for the quality and portion sizes. It is definitely great value. We will definitely be returning. It was such a great dining experience, as we had not been here in at least 10 years. We were happy to see that it is still as great as ever. Thank you!

Have ordered from C est Bon for years. Tonight I received an order by delivery. The food was ok. The new portion sizes are seemingly about 66% of the ones I have received in the past. Another sad case of shrinkflation higher prices for smaller portions. I won t be ordering from them again.

Horrible customer service, it was our first time in there and we werent sure what to order and the lady got moody. I ordered spicy basil rice noodles w/ chicken. I barely got chicken on my dish (frozen chicken) I was aware of the basil on my plate. However, it was way too much. I couldnt get a single bite without it. Never going back again.

Their dumplings are so soft and nice! Lovely staffs!

This is, IMO, the best chinese restaurant in the Yonge/Eg area (though, in all honesty, there are a few that we havent visited). Its a shame that the location that was close to us happened to close, but they deliver (we only do take-out now).

Great food

Terrible experience. Ordered delivery via their website, recieved a confirmation email that it would be delivered within the hour. Two hours later, nothing. Phoned the restaurant, and they said they never got it (uh... Confirmation email?). Then they had the audacity to ask me to come to the restaurant to pick it up. Then they offered me free chicken balls next time I order. As if. Never ever ordering from this place ever.

We ordered three dishes and they were AWFUL, particularly given the price we paid. And the restaurant came highly recommended! I have never been so let down - the Shanghai noodles were soft and covered in some dreadful sweet glow. I hope this was an off day.

The food had no flavour

Today, my mom decided to bring lunch to my work and ordered a dish from this restaurant. The food was very salty and the meat was significantly smaller in size compared to the noodles and vegetables. I am extremely dissatisfied with my experience and I am now only going to order from Dominos next door.

The lady did not even want us in the restaurant. We entered and the first thing she said without even saying welcome was they did not have lunch specials due to the day being a holiday. We did not even care but anyway we said ok and the second thing she said was we have to order 2 meals (we were 2 people) and we were not allowed to share a dish.. I mean.. We just left. We could not even say hello or check the menu.. There were zero people dining in btw. Empty house. Is this a restaurant or some sort of a camp?

OK, this restaurant has it all - very friendly family service, AMAZING food (the crispy breaded ginger chicken literally melts in your mouth), and a very convenient location. Without a doubt, this is the BEST Chinese restaurant food I have had in Toronto...and Im from Toronto.

Cute warm friendly ambiance , the Crispy Ginger Chiken is off the charts an absolute must have! And the Deep fried Chocolate Mars bar will keep you coming back for more !

Bamboo earthy interior is very tranquil. Great customer service when dining in. They serve beer so you can come with friends or family and have a great time accompanied by all the classic Chinese-American dishes. I was so pleased with my dining service I told them I was going to give a five star Google review and they were very appreciative.

Sorry I was disapointed not one of my favorites the lunch specials were mediocre and very expensive for what you get service was not wonderful and for such a small place to not check up on the customer to see if they need or want something unacceptable to me. I was there twice. Sorry but they struck out.

It used to be one of my all time places to go for general Tao chicken, what has changed? The prices, the meal doesnt even come with rice, and the portions thats another thing.....For $75, spicy chicken, orange chicken, general tao, and chicken fried rice......Ive gotten a lot more and taste just as good somewhere else for less....I was craving it and was in the area........but Im not sure Ill be coughing up that kinda Parking: Very little parking spots

Really sorry to break this to you but I wasnt happy with the food today. 5 stars for the server though, she really tried to please. Moo Shu was watery beyond belief and I didnt recognize the taste of the meat in the Szechuan Beef. Also, the noodle dish couldnt decide if it was Chinese or Italian. Maybe it was just a bad day, other reviews here were more positive.

First time ever to order. Food was utter garbage. Inferior product being used, no flavour at all. It s a crime to over charge the Canadian public for such garbage. I d seriously like my money back because I hate getting ripped off. When will these horrible restaurant operators stop ripping off the public.

Thai style pineapple fried rice yum

Today my friends and I ordered from this restaurant. With a restaurant name like Cest Bon you would think the food would be good. We would recommend the name Quest-ce que tu viens de mettre dans mon assiette?. When we picked up the food we walked in and were greeted with a nice visual aesthetic, but were immediately startled when we saw a tail wag in the kitchen. We were taken aback, startled that we were in the presence of a feral South American Jungle Rat. It turned out it was the owners dog and that it liked being in the kitchen. The food tasted bland and the portions were small. Again, change the name of your restaurant to the one suggested above.

Everything tastes amazing. Everytime I go there, the service is great and the food I order such as chicken rice, dumplings and rolls. The food has fresh taste and the exact chinese taste I was looking for in Toronto.

So glad I found this place! Fast service. Solid Chinese food. Would recommend this little gem!

I dont recommend it at all. I have been eating chinese here in Toronto for the last 35 years, it is the worst and most expensive chinese I have ever tried. Their chow mein is just pasta (spagetti) with only 3-4 shrimps and no vegetables, other orders like salt and pepper shrimp are below avarage and overpriced. If I cook any of those at home, i will do it much tastier and better. Save your money and try any other chinese restaurant. complete rip off.

This place does the best curry beef, mushroom fried rice, and broccoli I ve ever had. Enormous portions, and beyond delicious. I order from here at least once per month. Always great quality. Also love the tofu options.

We called the restaurant on Saturday for a lunch delivery but was informed that they did not have a driver until noon. We mentioned Uber Eats and was discouraged from that and told the app wasn t working for their orders. We tried it anyway and the order went through just fine. The food was delivered within hour and where do I go from here .? My order was $143, not including delivery. That was just lunch for two of us. I don t mind spending money on good food, but this was far from it. The Cantonese Chow Mein was the only thing that was fresh, hot, and tasted like it was made fresh. Our crispy ginger beef was barely warm and definitely just heated from leftovers. So was the orange chicken - old and dry. The so called home made egg roll , honestly, just buy a frozen one at your grocery store, trust me, it will be way better! The worst was the $26 dish called House Chilli Prawns . Those were literally 6 rubbery pieces of small shrimp, completely cold and so rubbery from being reheated over and over. It was the worst I ve ever had! It s not the delivery people when one of your dishes is hot but not others. I no longer recommend this place to anyone! Please save your money and dine elsewhere.

Terrible customer service, placed an order using one of the apps and they simply ignored the order. If you end up ordering from here through an app, give them a call to confirm the order. They aren t competent enough to do so themselves.

We ordered takeout last sunday of this review, hoping to get something delicious. Everything else was fine except for the sweet and sour pork. We also found a metal scrubber in my sweet and sour pork. Pork is insanely overcook to the point that you couldnt bite into it. We use to eat here a lot but we for sure are not coming back to this restaurant.

Its taken a minute but so happy we found Cest Bon Restaurant. Fresh, tasty and authentic Asian Cuisine. They took time to verify my contact info and double check my order. When I got home, the food was still hot. We will definitely be re-ordering! Any menu recommendations??

I m disappointed with myself for not trying this place sooner. I can t believe I ve lived in this area for three years and passed by this place hundreds of times to only find out now how amazing the food is. I was blown away by how tasty and authentic some of the dishes were, like the green beans and eggplant with shrimp. I did get some more westernized dishes like the lemon chicken, which was perfectly crispy with a tangy sauce. Definitely will be ordering Chinese from here going forward. A must try in the Yonge-Lawrence neighborhood.

One of our favorite local Chinese food places.

Never again! Ive been giving Cest Bon one last chance for a while, but tonight was the last straw. I/we have been ordering from Cest Bon since they opened many years ago and it used to be fantastic (still clearly remember some of the dishes), but something changed, and not for the better... Add-on: for example, years ago, the General Tso Chicken used to be fantastic... crispy, beautiful, chunky pieces of real (vs the remarkably close to real but processed chicken many places now use), juicy white chicken breast meat with a delicious, sweet, tangy sauce... I can still taste it... Yum, yum! Every time however we ordered it since things started going downhill, gone was the beautiful chicken, replaced with gnarly, gristly chicken bits and skin - we did not get one single good chunk of chicken meat - it was all scrap bits heavily coated with batter to mask the mysterious contents. Anyway, I think its fair to guess that ownership changed because of the radical difference in the food quality and taste - Id now compare Cest Bon quality/taste to that of a low-end strip mall food court. In 2020 we are officially searching for our new go-to Chinese. Good-bye, Cest Bon.

If you like quality Chinese food, dont order from Cest Bon. It used to be half decent but the current people in the kitchen arent very talented. Flavors are bland. Hot and sour soup is some murky salted invention. Beef broccoli was tasteless and boring. Prices dont warrant the quality by any stretch. Better to get your Chinese from an authentic restaurant downtown.

A decent take-out / delivery option in the neighborhood. Weve found the food to be consistent and tasty and ok value when ordered directly.

Friendly staff, large portions.

This is the worst American Chinese food Ive ever ordered. We ordered the black bean beef ho fun, and vegetable low mean which were both over cooked to the point the noodles had no structural integrity to it anymore. It was basically a mush with overcooked vegetables. We also ordered chicken balls which were stale and cold. When cutting into it, the chicken balls were 98% bread and 2% chicken. We also had Chinese brocolli which came sitting in a pool of oil and water. The Chinese brocolli was so over cooked it was mushy and loosing its colour. Im all for supporting local businesses, but there didnt seem to be much care in cooking any of these items. I would not recommend this place to anyone who is looking for American Chinese food

Probably the worst Chinese food in the area. I am not sure but the General Tsos seemed like repurposed McDonalds Mcnuggets covered in some mystery sauce.

The service at this restaurant was great. The table and the place was neat and clean. Food served was hot and seemed freshly made. We ordered Veg Spring Rolls which came piping hot and super crispy. They tasted delicious with the plum sauce which was provided. The Vegetable Sichuan Noodles were nice but the sichuan flavour was very strong. Although it didn t make the noodles taste bad. Overall it was decent. The braised tofu in black bean sauce was nice and the only issue was that the tofu was very chewy, other than that it was delicious with a nice mix of vegetables. The crispy ginger chicken was not great, considering it is their most popular and recommend dish. The chicken pieces were deep fried and so hard that it actually hurt my mouth. The ginger sauce was too sweet for my liking. Probably good to skip this one. Overall a very nice experience and will try again.

not sure why this was a bit hard to find on maps. its a great take out joint. perfect north americanized chinese. all the old classics youd expect. no surprises. fast courteous. lemon chicken, special fried rice, singapore vermicelli. classic cantonese chow mein. not trying to reinvent the wheel here. but thats not why you come to place like this is it? you come to get satisfied. that satisfaction that comes from the meal you had as a kid or in college. this is the place. plus beer to go!

I was not sure what to expect when I tried this place. The name amused me so I checked it out and I was pleasantly surprised. The food was really good, the price was absolutely acceptable and I had the proverbial left overs. No way I could eat everything I was given in one sitting.

My boss ordered here for my birthday and their food were really good! So good that I actually kept their menu and plan to dine in the restaurant one of these days. So many on the menu that I would like to try! I would highly recommend!

Everything was fresh, excellent quality, plentiful and delicious. Head and shoulders above the places we usually order from.

We had takeout from Cest Bon on Dec 12 2021. The premises were clean and inside was a comfortable ambience. Service was prompt. There is parking but it is limited especially weekends. We ordered the Crispy Ginger Beef @ $15.95 and the King Pao Chicken with peanuts @ $16.95 and a large order of steamed rice $5.25. Sorry to say we found all very disappointing - yes including the steamed rice. Both main dishes were visually lackluster but also bland in flavour. The crispy Ginger Beef also looked burnt. This was our first visit but we will definitely would not recommend.

I absolutely love this place. Been ordering from there for years and it s sooo good. I miss it now that I m not close enough to order but still pop in every now and then.

Modern decor in restaurant. Nice location. Small but fair amount of seating. The service was nice. The food was ok. I expected more for the price ($15 per plate). I got lemon chicken. Was basically battered tried chicken and lemon sauce on the side. The portion was small. The the cest bon Chow mein was very oily. The broccoli beef was ok.

Incredible food and comfortable dining space. Unfortunately the prices have gone up so much to the point I dont see myself returning unless they find a way to slightly bring them down.

Thats $75.15 with tax for 4 dishes and spring rolls with $5 for delivery driver. $80.15 for whats listed above is mental!!! Ive ordered from them for 13 years. No longer will I pay these inflated prices. Signed, A customer who will never order again from Cest Bon again.

Was told 45 minutes for pickup. When I arrived I was told 20 more minutes which turned into 75 more minutes. No respect for Social distancing. Pickup area had 15 people packed into a small space, none wore masks.

Don t waste your time or money. Order a pizza next door. Very sad food

Its solid Chinese food - if you like unhealthy Chinese food...

I enjoyed the food. Lots of different dishes to choose from and it came hot and fresh.

I order from them a lot over the years, food is always hot and great sized portions. Best Chinese food personally speaking in the area. There is a minimum order amount for delivery but everything Ive tried is amazing. Sometimes delivery can be longer but never exceeding 60 minutes. They also are always very careful about my food restrictions/allergies!

We ordered take in last night, the food was exceptional. The fried rice was perfectly cooked and flavourful, and everything else we ordered was fantastic. Big proportions as well.

Beef with Mushroom and Snow Pea: 5/5. Was delicious also really hot, almost burned my mouth. good portion. Chicken Chop Suey: 4/5 - super hot and tasty - not oily or overly salty. Just could have used more chicken. I ll just ask for lore chicken next time. Pork Lo Mein: 3/5 - wasn t the best, not much pork, and the noodle were just a tad over cooked, but it was still decent and tasty. Next time I ll just ask for more pork. Service: 5/5 - friendly and quick. All my previous orders: 4/5. Prices: 50$ including a 10% tip: Fair price, will feed my wife and I twice. Basically $12.50 a meal, not to bad (food court Chinese food is the same price)I read a lot of reviews that were complaining about the pricing, but It s really not that bad. Everything is pricey these days. Rent, food ingredients, food and freight delivery, fuel etc. Every place in Toronto has raised their prices to subsidize the increase in cost over everything else. Side note: The people that are saying it s the worst food ever are usually the type of people that tend to be more dramatic and confrontational in life. I guarantee some of these people have said that was the worstk meal ever 100 s of times in their life.

Road very Bon!

I ordered food an hour before close, when I got back home, the jumbo stroll that I ordered was stale, hard, not edible. I called the restaurant the morning after and was told to call later to speak with a manager. When I did she had no sympathy. She told me they didn t give refunds. I let her know that I could bring the entire order to her for her to analyze and she basically told me, oh well. This use to be my go-to Chinese restaurant. I ll never visit again and I will be reporting them. You could have offered to replace the food or offer me the $20 back.

Cest Bon or Its Good really is good. This landmark restaurant on younge just one building north of Sporting Life has been part of our familys on going tradition of buying Chinese food as a way to park for free and access sporting life. A couple weeks ago I was actually hungry and decided to try this place for the first time instead of just buying tea so I can park in their lot for free it is amazing

Bit pricey for what you get

I ordered Egg Rolls and the Crispy Duck. Honestly both were terrible. The Eggrolls were like empty socks and the Duck was dry, flavorless and not near crispy anywhere.

Decided to give this place a try because its right across of where I live and the food was extremely disappointing! The quality of the food was low and the price paid was relatively high! Although the portions were decent size but you can get far better good elsewhere. If you havent been here you havent missed a lot.

Nice place

Cest Bon Restaurant may look small on the outside, but this place has so many tasty options and is big in flavor! I have gone here several times, whether for take-out or dine in and have truly enjoyed every dish I have ordered. The staff is always friendly and they are very quick in preparing the food. This place is great in my opinion. The inside is always neat and tidy as well. Would definitely recommend! The ginger chicken is delicious!

Disgusting tasting, over priced food. I figured for the price, it must be good, but I was obviously mistaken. Order from somewhere else instead. Itll taste better elsewhere and itll be cheaper, too. It cant possibly be more expensive than this place for simple Chinese food. I can see why they had to close down their restaurant on Yonge Street. I assume this location will suffer a similar fate soon.

A place I will never come back for. The overall taste was bad and most of the food i got wasnt cooked properly. Veges were under cooked, the meat was all precooked and unheated so I had to eat cold.chicken and shrimp. The server was kind and nice but the food was a disappointment. I thought I was eating microwaved food.

They have to work on their online ordering system. I placed an order at 7pm with a 8pm delivery time and when I called at 7:30, they told me something happened to the driver on the way . They didn t get my order and made it when I told them about it. They lied about the order because the food was HOT when it arrived and it wasn t even good. Not worth the 2 hour wait. Don t order from here if you want dinner at a reasonable time.

The food was very good. Fresher and tastier than the last time I was there and that was before the renovations. The place is brighter and more comfortable and more open and airy. I really like the experience and would go back even more often now.

I would give minus 5 stars if i could. I have placed an order via uber eats. The food that was delivered was awful! It was surreal, as if i was watching a sitcom about bad chinese food. We called the restaurant and theirs answer was laughter followerd by: chinese food is different everywhere. We ordered roasted duck and it was so old that you could see dry strings of meat hanging on a bone. Crispy noodles were soggy..... Chow fun noodles didnt even look like noodles but more like rice since they were filling apart. The pictures i took do not do justice to the level of bad that it realy was. I guess i should commend Samsung for high resolution camera.

Our go-to Chinese takeout place. Small dining space as well if you want to eat in. Good food - authentic stuff that you would get at a Chinese restaurant but also had the western stuff like chicken balls (yes, chicken balls aren t really Chinese, but fried dough balls with chicken are still good!)

Good lunch menu. General tao was good. Small portion but you get a soup and spring roll with it so it makes up!

So disappointed I wasted my money going here. I ordered crispy ginger beef and chop suey, below average taste. Crispy ginger beef is mostly bater and poor quality meat, plus it is not that crispy. Chop suey is too sogey. My favorite place, lotus inn was closed and dedlcided to try here. Instant regret. Plus got black sauce all over the place.

Good lunch meal

Its a decent place but doesnt have the most authentic Chinese food. If you are looking for real Chinese food, this is not the place to go. But for westernized Chinese food, its not too bad.

Food was DROWNED in sesame oil. Surprised it was allowed to leave the kitchen. We had to recook it at home in an effort to salvage. Would not recommend.

Typical American Chinese food restaurant style food done very well. Interior is all new it seems. Washrooms new and very clean. Very quick orders on the table. Staff was fantastic, my wife dropped her fork and before she could pick it up there was a new one on the table . Our family couldnt stop eating what was in front of us. They have a veggie menu as well Prices seemed fair.

I have only ordered takeout from them but there service was always incredibly fast, arriving in half the time they would estimate. Food is standard Chinese eats with fairly reasonable pricing and serving size.

Tasty and portion generous

Descent food, I had General Tao Chicken with peppers, onions and rice. I walked in off the street, never been before, wasnt expecting to either. I asked to use the restroom and said Ill try the chicken. I was dining alone and wanted to quick bite. About 3 minutes later my order was served and I was pleasantly surprised, with both service and the meal. Cost was $19. Not bad considering I had enough left for another meal to take home.
