Peruvian & Spanish dishes prepared with modern French techniques, served in an elegant 1920s room.
I had the french onion soup, which turned out was chunky and tasted like a mound of sugar. The restaurant is incredibly overpriced with a very disorganized service function. The manager is especially rude to her staff and there were many instances i seen her yelling at them for minor issues. I will never go to eat here again nor recommend it.
Food was ok. Nice and clean inside. But super bad service. Very rude. While we were counting money to pay the bill, a "friendly worker" just grabbed the cash before we were done paying. Not only did the worker stop there, he counted it and started telling us how much was missing. Explained meals badly. Exposed surprise presents. We saw our chef eating pieces of food from our dishes while preparing them, WITH HIS HANDS! Each plate took around 30min, even salad! There were 12-15 customers only. Small portion. Lunch set was two and a half amount of Honey cruller at Tim. I recommend you order 2 or 3 sets per person. I will say the food was good, but not the best which to me means not worth the price. 2015 Feb 1st. Sunday lunch.
No atmosphere and didn't feel welcomed at this restaurant, mainly due to the staff, very grumpy, didn't talk much just put things down...and never spoke much at all.......may be this is the" French Way"......... If no conversation...then " A smile" would have gone a long way! Food was small in size, over priced for what you got, but the little was tasty....Don't go hungry!! But my best advice....Don't go at all!
If you are thinking of buying a deal voucher for this restaurant, THINK TWICE!!! I do not normally write reviews, but this restaurant is terrible. They have a separate menu for those who had deal vouchers and they had to substitute EVERYTHING. Service was terrible and slow that we left at 10 pm with no dessert. The waiter brought us our bill and did not even offer us dessert. Definitely will not be going back to this place.
Elegantly decorated and very nice staff. I had the duck which had to be one of the best I've ever had. My server was very pleasant, he always asked how I was and constantly checked in on my meal. I was offered to try a new drink I've never had before and he knew exactly what I liked. For dessert I had the creme brûlée, which was by far the best I've ever had. Their charcuterie is exceptional and their menu is simple and classy. Perfect place for lunch and brunch as well. Their quiche is superb and their salads are very refreshing. For someone looking to escape the regular "burgers and wings" kind of thing, this place is perfect. Also, if your wanting a perfect steak or in house made pasta and breads, these guys know what they are doing. Absolutely exceptional restaurant and I would suggest it to everyone. Must try!!
Made reservations for 2 at 8:15pm on a Saturday through their online system, with confirmation. Arrived on the dot, was told that they were extremely busy and we may not get to order food right away, but offered a complimentary glass of cava for the inconvenience. We accepted, as we don't mind a bit of a wait, excited about trying this well-reviewed restaurant. We were given a basket of bread and a small dish of olives to nibble on during our wait - both fantastic. Here's where it starts to get weird... After about 40 minutes into our wait, a waiter drops off another small dish of olives. Two minutes later, a woman who we assumed was the manager (owner?) came by and took the olives away stating / asking "You already received a dish of olives?". My wife and I had to laugh as it seemed at that point that us waiting an hour before we placed an order was "only worth 1 dish of olives...not two". Suffice to say, we were starting to get a little peckish. After 1 1/4 hours we were allowed to place an order - my first choice, the lamb, was out. No mention of that ahead of time, and it started to feel like we were expected to take any "leavings" that were offered. We both ordered steak frites - mine rare, my wife med-rare. Waiter suggested we both get rare as it's a thin cut. We accept - also get steak tartare and beet salad to start. As waiter was walking away I asked if we could order a bottle of wine as well, we weren't asked if we wanted drinks with dinner. By now the restaurant is half full, but we wait an additional 30 minutes for two cold starters - despite the wait, steak tatare and beet salad were both quite tasty. Waiter came by every so often to refill our wine glasses and give us updates on the steaks, which took a long while. Steaks arrive, both medium-rare. I mention this fact to the server, who asked if I'd like another one cooked - normally at a restaurant of this supposed caliber and price point I would return it, but by this point we weren't excited about waiting another 30-40 minutes for a re-do. I ate my steak, which despite being overcooked was quite tasty. Dessert and coffee were quite nice. Overall food was quite tasty, but the other issues turned our evening into something quite strange. We may try Celestin again, but it wasn't as exceptional as other people had described.
I decided one evening to take my girlfriend to a more refined restaurant than where we usually go and I am so glad I made the decision to come here. The staff was amazing and the food was delicious, the waiter was always there just as soon as we needed him and he helped pair an amazing bottle of red wine with our dinner. I will definitely be coming again!
I have to say that the staff is very friendly, but one of the waiters definitely had problems remembering what customers ordered. It wasn't even a busy night. While the food was decent, I've been to many other restaurants that were in the same price range but where the food was much better.
Waited forever for food.
Went for winterlicious. The place was nice, service was nice but the food is just mediocre compare to other winterlicious that I have been to
Great high end French food and atmosphere.
I found the service friendly and the food exquisite, the duck confit the best I had so far, I had a lemon soufflé for dessert that it was incredible delicious; from the oven to my table. I am really looking to the summer to bring my friends for a nice glass of rose perhaps. Marlena
What a joke! Booked a table for 6 adults, 2 kids this past sunday for 1pm brunch. Arrived on time and to an empty restaurant. Informed they had to set up the table....even though we had reservations. So that was done and we sat down. Waited for water....then had to ask for it. Water came a few minutes later. We sat and chatted, ordered 3 coffees and waited about 15 minutes for it to arrive. Wife asked for tea but they didnt have most of the common, regular types. At that point we were informed that about 1/3 of the menue was now unavailable. Interesting concept! I ordered the crock madame sandwich. 45 minutes later it arrived burned to a crisp. It was my first time ordering this so I opened it to see what was in it. NOTHING....There was cheese and zilch! I asked the server who had to go ask the cook. It turned out there was supposed to be meat. The server took the sandwich away that now had the two Sunnyside up eggs cracked open all over it. About 5 minutes later returned with the same sanwich that the cook had literally scraped all the stuff off the top, opened it, and flung in some ham. DIRT! Thats a No-No!!! so my sandwich with a bite out of it took a tour of the establishment and had all the workers examine it, and has now been returned to me. Mind you this is a $17 sandwich.....No one remade it fresh. I sent it back and was told that I could order an omelet if I wanted something quick for the cook to make. I went next door to the bakery and ordered a sandwich for $7.....Figure that out. EAT HERE BUT YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!! Go to Batifole if you want french food. The chef comes out to say hello and make sure all is well. This place has a cook, not a chef. He looked out from the glass window but never set foot out of his kitchen. The more I eat in the city the more I wonder if people simply go where its trendy and eat slop because they feel cool ?!?!?
Great dinning experience. Romantic atmosphere and good food
Loved it, the staff were super polite and classy, and the food was Ah-mazing! The whole experience at Celestin was extremely positive, lovely restaurant. I will definitely go back again!
I went there for my birthday brunch and had an absolutely great meal. We ordered the charcouterie plater to start. It was amazing. We ordered absinthe for the table and the waiter with the mustache was very knowlagable and enthusiastic throughtout the meal. I will recommended to friends and family.
Amazing food prepared to perfection. And you HAVE to get a drink from their master mixologist- seriously awesome! Even the ambiance was perfection.
Everything was absolutely amazing. Sheer perfection. Best food Ive had in my life and the drinks were mixed perfectly. Perfect! Must come back.
Simply superb.
On behalf of my family I would like to thank you, Chef Ivan, James and the rest of the staff for making my parents 65th Wedding Annivesary dinner such a memorable occasion. Everything was perfect the service was excellent and your staff went out of their way to meet the needs of our guests. We look forward to coming back to your fine restaurant very soon.
