Chadon Beni Restaurant and Bar serves up Caribbean infused small plates and cocktails on Queen Street West!
I would recommend this tapas style Trinidadian restaurant and bar, and I’d go back to try more off their shareable menu. The house hot sauces were excellent. The shrimp and bake was my favourite and the portions were filling. We loved the crab dumplings because they taste so homemade. Haven’t found anything quite like it in a restaurant before. Also the service and atmosphere in the bar were great. They were playing soca Christmas tracks when we went. :)
A few Sundays ago we attended Chadon beni for their Sunday Brunch! The place provided a nice warm feeling and the servers were very pleasant, even allowing us to order off of the regular menu should the item be available. We ordered salt fish buljol with fried bakes, Benny beni with lobster and without, bake and shark, sholourie, crispy jerk chicken & coconut rum donuts, macaroni pie bites and callaloo, pineapple chow and bread fruit bites. The portion sizes weren't too bad but majority of the food lacked flavour!! The salt fish buljol was ok but not spicy at all unfortunately and very cold, I know I know it's supposed to be cold but damn that cold, my girl definitely asked for hers to be warmed up and two bakes were not enough in my opinion. The benny beni was mid in the words of my teen, the lobster had no flavour it was just there. The bake and shark was BLAND it was as if they didn't even season the fish before frying it. I was looking forward to trying the sholourie only to be disappointed as well, it was deep fried shrimp in flavourless phlourie batter. The Mac pie bites lacked flavour as well and the callaloo was callajuice, the look was not appealing much less the taste. The pineapple chow could have used more pepper and the breadfruit bites were DRY. The jerk chicken and donuts taste better than they looked. The best part of the meal were the drinks, hold the seeds next time though, we had passion fruit juice and pineapple juice. Overall the food was lacking in flavour, seasoning and spices. Now we understand that this is a trini and Caribbean fusion inspired restaurant and not authentic trini food but does that mean you skip out in the seasoning and spice?! It's so disheartening that Caribbean restaurants always water down the flavour to meet the needs of others outside of the community.
Food was fantastic, if I had to describe it overall, it's like a bunch of sharable appetizers that are really filling! Amazing spot for groups and the service is very accommodating. The jerk chicken tacos, the bake and shark, the lobster tacos, everything was tasty and unique! I enjoyed nearly every dish here. My favourites were probably the curry crab dumplings & Wagyu sliders! The drinks were delicious too! I can't wait to go back. Apparently there's an upstairs but we went so late that we had to stay downstairs
Very authentic in flavours with tasteful presentation. The sorrel Mimosas were delightful! In consideration of the non Caribbean population that patronize this establishment is perhaps why the choice to not season as strongly & with the intensity that our island palettes most definitely prefer. Otherwise, impeccable service, relaxing & festive vibes. Cheers to Ross & his fabulous server, Genom!💯
Exceptional little restaurant/bar located in popular downtown Toronto neighbourhood. Very authentic Caribbean vibes. Friendly and helpful servers. We didn't order any food, but we had a number of different cocktails that were all excellent. We were also served a complimentary dish of fruit with an amazing Caribbean style seasoning. It was amazing! The staff was extremely accommodating when it started pouring rain on the patio. They quickly found space for us inside the restaurant. Overall, great experience, I would love to go back to try a few items off the menu. They had some very unique dishes that looked delicious. Reasonable prices.
Curry corn ribs were delicious, as was the soup. Shrimplouri was great. Curry crab dumplings were a bit grainy. It was a really hot day, and there was no AC and no fan in sight. We would have stayed longer and tried more, but it was too uncomfortable. We understand after speaking with staff that they are working to rectify that. It was a little crowded in the dining area. I would have probably removed a table for two and made more space. Would also be nice to have music playing. I've recommended the restaurant to friends and family and will be back to try more in the near future.
This restaurant is located in downtown Toronto and has outdoor & indoor seating. They serve an array of unique appetizers which are quite filling. Their menu has many items worth exploring. They serve options that are perfect for date nights and they provide a deal if your purchase is over a hundred dollars for you and your significant other. The owner is very personable and treats you like a guest, not just a customer. I highly recommend this spot if your palate is in the mood for something extraordinary. Go check them out! You wont be disappointed.
I visited the first time for dinner on Saturday June 15th. I went with a friend to share some menu items. It was my first time trying Trini food. The drink and the crab dumplings could be improved on. I didn’t find the drink that flavourful and the price was expensive; the dumplings had a lot of shell bits in the filling. The waitress was nice and the service was great. It was quaint with good music and a small patio. I enjoyed the breadfruit fries, fried macaroni bites, callaloo soup and the fried donuts with rum, coconut cream and coconut ice cream.
Highly recommend, great tasting food, drinks, and atmosphere.
Had some yummy Queen Conch Tacos
Ordered the callaloo soup for takeout. I was excited to try it for the first time. The soup itself was tasty but Im giving this a 1 star because never have I experienced a place that only fills the container halfway. Its not like the container was large to begin with....
Very disappointed with this establishment. I purchased the callaloo soup. Severely overpriced and served in a mini cardboard container. Even worse is that they only served half of a tiny container. Felt ripped off. Terrible, Terrible experience. The soup was also bland and had no spice or seasoning.
Fantastic atmosphere and good service. However, after two occasions of really wanting to love the food, I consistently find the flavour lacking and feeling disappointed. As a Trinidadian who travels back often, perhaps my bar is too high. But I consistently find that the flavour isn t fully there.
Delicious Taco 10/10.
I cannot recommend this place enough Happy hour is Tues to Thurs from 4-7 signature cocktails are only $10 are truly unique and tasty The food is authentically Trini, they make (and sell) their own pepper sauce with peppers from Trinidad. Every bite is bursting with flavour, notably the pineapple chow & coconut curry crab dumplings although I ordered more food and I m sure it s going to be fantastic too Please ask for Steph when you come because she is lightning fast, adorable and knowledgeable. Truly one of the best nights out with my friends This spot reminds me of what Toronto is all about
The food was phenomenal, the drinks were delicious. Steph was possibly the most helpful server I have ever had!! Definitely coming back here again!!! Also....heated patio in November....like what?!?! So good!
The food is outstanding! Great vibe and amazing staff, thank you for everything!
Steph, was the BOMB!!! She sorted me out and I sampled many items on the menu... come for the Callalou and the Shark..and the wings... and the... drinks... and the... well you get it.. overall a great place for a tourist popping in!!!
Honestly, I was so excited to go here and taste authentic food, but Ive never been so disappointed. I ordered simple things (or so I thought): Breadfruit chips/fries and Bakes & Shark. Not only did I not enjoy the taste of anything (and I LOVE breadfruit & seafood), I also couldnt finish anything I ordered, except my drink. My friends choices were also not good at all. I left the restaurant hungry, because I just couldnt finish anything. It was really unfortunate, because I traveled from the Niagara Region, after work, to try this place!
Really chill place to eat. The food was tasty. The price for the amount of food on the other hand was not impressive. I came in hungry and i left hungry. The cocktails tho awwyeah.....those were refreshing and very caribbean.
Not a vegan, but the vegan options were excellent. Will definitely be back.
Fantastic experience Great food and service.
Dietary restrictions: Pescatarian options Food
Insaneeee food and crazy good vegetarian & vegan options!!! Everything was delicious and the hospitality was like none other!!
We stumbled upon the restaurant and was super pleased with the speed of the service, delicious food and super friendly staff.
Amazing food & service 10/10 experience
Felt good to have authentic flavours from home. I loved the Calaloo, macaroni pie bites & crab dumplings but on 2 separate occasions, my calaloo servings were less than half of the container it came in. The first time, I let it slide but the second time I ordered take out, the exact same amount was in the container. Felt cheated and disappointed given the high price I paid for it on two separate occasions. Be careful of this so you don t get surprised!
The food is tasty, though the portions feel overpriced for what you get. The service, however, was terrible. I was made to wait 30 minutes outside for an indoor table, only for the server to completely forget about me. I eventually had to go in and ask, and another server seated me right away. After that, I waited another 30 minutes for my food, and they also forgot my drink. The ambiance is pleasant, and the food is good, but the service really needs improvement.
My cousins, friends and I were gearing up to visit this spot. Just so happen we went on Trini Independence Day! Nothing short of AH-MAZING! The owner was great, took time to chat about the menu, cracked a couple jokes with us - very cool dude. Even provided a CHOW sample. Our server, Serena(?!) - wow. She was great - fantastic service, took time to understand any allergies, and was just so friendly and accommodating! THANK YOU! As for the drinks. We tried to taste as many as possible LOL - the Trini Rum Punch was FANTASTIC, we hit up the pitcher - so good! My cousin was a Nylon Pool fan, the Manzanilla Stretch was pure FLAVOR! Incredible. The FOOD - lets just say - nothing left over. Tasty, flavorful, great quantities, shareable with everyone - overall, mah belly was HAPPY HAPPY! LOL! However, I need to GO BACK and try the rest of the menu, we couldnt even get the Tacos and the other shareables we wanted to try lol! Also, that CHOW! This was a MAJOR hit with EVERYONE at the table. I even drank the juice right from the cup after!!! I should have added a shot of Johnnnny to it ;) LOL! On that note, THANK YOU to the Chadon Beni family, you made our Saturday and we are looking forward to coming back, VERY SOON! Cheers!
A big group of us (10 people) decided to do dinner on Friday night at Chadon Beni, and we had the greatest time. We were seated in their upstairs patio section, and it was a total vibe. The music was great, and service was phenomenal. Serena, our waitress was the absolute sweetest, and took amazing care of us. We had drinks flowing, and many different food orders - but she made sure everything got to us. The owner came to check on us quite a few times as well, and was also very kind, and accommodating. Food was delicious as well. Would definitely recommend their wings/rum punch special, the curry crab dumplings, and the sholourie. Thank you for a great night, Chadon Beni!
If you are in the mood for good Caribbean foood then you need to check out this spot!!! I loved the tacos and and the drinks are too die for. Make sure to get the shrimp phlourie and the mac and cheese bites!!
Was so excited about this place but was a bit disappointed. Ordered the pineapple chow which was tasty. Different than traditional chow. The jerk chicken tacos were good. The shrimp bake was flavorless. The service was nice and the interior could do with an upgrade.
Food is good, decent pricing, very fresh! Best tasting items were the fries and shoulorie. I also very much like my drink. Macaroni bits and the dumplings were just okay.
Pitifully slow and unbothered service. Our drinks took more than 30 minutes while the staff were all hanging out chatting and behind the bar. We had three different servers come out to us all confused about what people had ordered. Took another 30 minutes to get our bills after requesting them. Also auto gratuity of 18% added to parties of 6 or larger - not mentioned anywhere on the menu! - which allows staff to behave with the indifference they do because they will collect a massive tip anyway.
A nice Caribbean inspired restaurant with Trinidadian inspired cuisine with a twist. Very tasty sides, like the macaroni bites and lobster tacos. Vegetarian options: Callaloo soup
Its a nice looking spot and had a lot of people on the patio so we thought to give it a try. The food is mediocre and extremely overpriced. We got the elk sliders and a jerk chicken taco. The sliders had very little flavor and were poorly constructed. It was one ball of meat that had been cooked at a medium temperature so it had no outer char and no inside flavor. The jerk chicken tacos didnt taste like jerk chicken and had very little flavor. I guess theyre adjusting down the flavors to cater to the local patrons. For ~$16 (pre tax/tip), we got two small tacos. The taco holder they served the food in had a slot for 3 tacos so you could tell that shrinkflation had caused them to drop 1 taco out of the serving while holding the price. The sliders were similarly priced and portioned. If youve eaten Caribbean food before, youre going to be sorely disappointed. The service was good.
Everything was good, friendly staff and vibes. The restaurant was a bit small and can be warm on hot days. Ill definitely return!
Beautiful evening on the patio. The food was outstanding and service was spot on. The owner even stopped by our table to chat and see how our dining experience was going.
Came on the recommendations of my daughter. What a find! Great food. Taste. Atmosphere. Drinks. It was like being home. The staff was friendly. Courteous. Knowledgeable. Loved it! Recommended! Will be back again
Waited for 15/20 minutes before the waitress came to the table and let us know what we have ordered was finished. We ordered the shrimp pholourie for another 20 minutes. The music was too loud and I couldn t communicate with the waitress and my husband. Other people came after us and was served before us with the same items from the menu we were told that was finish. I was looking forward to trying this place but it was very disappointing. I will not recommend anyone to this place.
I would not even recommend my worst enemy to this restaurant, the service was the worst the food took long to come out the waitress was more interesting in her phone, we were seated for 15 minutes before our order was taken to find out 15 minutes after the item we ordered was no longer available at that time, my wife is from Trinidad and taught it was going to a very good experience for me as Im from a different country but to my surprise what a disappointment Kid-friendliness: Absolutely none
Food wasn t the best but great vibes. Love the sauce they had on the table. Enjoyed their fried shrimp, macaroni bites, and fresh coconut juice. The shark sandwich & crab dumplings weren t great.
Long day spent out & about in downtown Toronto but said we couldn t leave without showing some love to a fellow Trini establishment Chadon Beni . We got there as they opened - so the 6 of us were the first and only people there. Upon entering - We later learned that the gentleman inside, who completely ignored us - neither greeting nor acknowledging any of us was the actual owner.., Ross Milne. But thank goodness for our hostess Stephanie who went above & beyond to make us feel welcomed with her warm Trini vibes and engaging personality. Everything we ordered tasted great the complimentary pineapple chow looked different to what we know back home but omg .,, so delish!!!! We tried the Scorpion pepper wings , BBq pigtail, crab stuffed dumplings and the kids had fries. All in all if you re feeling for some Caribbean vibes - soca playing in house, a cozy atmosphere and good food & drinks definitely give this place a try and be sure to ask for Stephanie .., just in case the owner have a pull face (Trini for moody) that day. Thank you Stephanie & Chefs well done.
A Taste of Trinidad in Toronto Chandon Beni is a hidden gem that offers a truly unforgettable patio experience. The ambiance was electric, filled with friendly faces and contagious good vibes. The star of the show, however, was undoubtedly the cocktails. Get yourself a Maracas mule please The warm Trinidadian hospitality was evident from the moment I stepped onto the patio. It felt like I was transported to a Caribbean oasis right in the heart of the city. I cant wait to return to explore the food menu, as Im confident it will live up to the high standards set by the cocktails. Chandon Beni is a must-visit for anyone looking for a lively atmosphere, delicious drinks, and a taste of Trinidad.
Amazing! The team here know what they re doing, fresh flavours with that home made love
Visited this place three times for the famous Trinidad sour. First and second time it tasted great, and the service was lovely. I went back on Wednesday July 3rd, around 5/6pm and a white lady with a bit of an accent served me. It was an unpleasant experience as when I received the drink, it looked a bit different then I remembered. I kindly confirmed it was the right one, in which she did, and I thanked her explaining the other two times I ordered it was night time and quite dark so I couldn t tell. She then sassily replied well its daytime now so ya . And sadly, the drink also tasted much different than I remembered; it was watered down and did not have the usual sour punch to it. This experience was unpleasant enough that I won t be coming back.
As a citizen of Trinidad and Tobago this place has my seal of approval by far one of the most authentic Caribbean flavors and vibes Ive experienced in Toronto
Visited and really enjoy their menu and selection. Would love to have had a bread pudding or a Cut-Cake from NutmegSpiced Bakery as a dessert .
Incredible food, seriously some of the best in the city. Everything on their menu is worth trying, service was great, music is a little loud but if you enjoy it then it s not too distracting.
The food was on point, good seasoning and very tasty, especially the wings and callaloo soup. The service was beyond expectations, and we will definitely be back after being treated so well by staff and management.
Absolutely tasty!
Shark and bake is outrageously delicious!
Great place and amazing food at very reasonable prices. The host is very friendly and supportive - we dropped one of the dishes on the floor and they kindly prepared a new dish for us.
My partner and I recently dined at Chadon Beni, hoping to enjoy their Trini and Caribbean-inspired cuisine, but we left feeling quite disappointed. To start, the BBQ wings were hard and tasteless, lacking the smoky, juicy flavour one would expect. The rum punch, which should have been a highlight, had no flavour whatsoever, tasting more like a watered-down juice than a refreshing tropical drink. The coconut curry crab dumplings were another disappointment. They were overpriced for the small portion size, and the presentation was unimpressive. For the price we paid, we expected a dish that was both flavourful and visually appealing. I understand that Chadon Beni focuses on Trini and Caribbean-inspired foods, but respectfully, some revamping is needed. Spending $100 on tasteless food feels like money down the drain. On a positive note, the server was fantastic welcoming, friendly, and attentive. Its a shame that the quality of the food didnt match the excellent service.
Ive wanted to come here for quite some time and yesterday I finally made it yesterday. We got here early so we tried the brunch menu but then later came back at 2pm for their full menu and it was worth the wait! We tried to sample as much as possible. Saltfish and bake, lobster tacos, jerk chicken tacos, bake and shark, fries, and bake and shrimp. Everything tasted incredible. Seasoned just right and because portions were shareable, it gave us the opportunity to sample a variety of items. Its a bit of a smaller place with an outside patio but packed with good vibes, food, and energy! Owner Ross and our server Leah were so awesome and friendly. Cant wait to come back again. Ross, my cousin says thank you for the new addition to his garden...lol!
The food is soooo good! Highly recommend if you want some good Trini bites. And a feel of home.
My first time coming here. Food and drinks were overprice, took over an hour to get two bite size appetizers. Waitress was rude and full of attitude, kiss her teeth when you try to place an order. Very unwelcoming, wouldn t recommend or come back here just due to the reason the service was extremely horrible. Washroom had diarrhea on the floor, waitress was annoyed for telling her
Great food! Great patio! Good music! Fun spot to be! Will definitely be back again! Recommend the Wagyu sliders, lobster tacos and the coconut cocktail.
I feel as if Im back home in Trinidad and Tobago. The food is ON POINT!!!
The food was underwhelming.. some dishes could ve had a bit more seasoning and veggies, and less chadon beni. But I understand that s the name of the restaurant.
Too much of the menu is fried food. I like the place though, and the staff was awesome. The bake and shark gets an excuse for being fried but I think there should be more options that arent.
Went on a Friday evening. We received a comp taster size pineapple chow which was delicious. The servers and bartenders were pleasant and attentive. The food was conceptually a reminder of Trinidadian food however was a bit bland. I had the shark and bake.. the shark itself could have been seasoned a little more/better. The crab dumplings were not what I expected.. had some curry flavour but again bland for me. The drinks were good however. Would return for drinks and possibly try their apps
Ordered the callaloo soup and was incredibly disappointed by the portion size given. The amount of callaloo was half the height of the soup container it came in. Did a worker get hungry and drank my soup or something?
Love this place! Delicious and flavourful food and I love the atmosphere. The corn ribs were so great and the bake and shark and tacos were so great! Been here a couple of times and I will keep coming back.
This is a wonderful restaurant located along Queen St W that serves Trinidadian inspired small plates including several vegetarian options. I had traditional Trini doubles that are served from a small kiosk that is part of the larger restaurant which opens at 4pm. I also had iced sorrel, pineapple chow and bbq jackfruit sliders. All the items were fresh and delicious. The service staff was courteous and professional. The ambiance here was laid back and comfortable. The restaurant also has a Caribbean inspired cocktail menu. I had the Caesar with scorpion pepper (product of Trinidad) which was spicy and tasty. I would definitely dine here again.
Callaloo that tastes like home! The Mac-pie bites have all the flavours of Trinidad with a fusion twist. Don t sleep on the pineapple chow the only place that accurately recreates the infamous salt prune chow. The service was amazing and dine-in downstairs feels like your auntie s kitchen. Love in the house!
Amazing Happy Hour spot not for when you are really hungry
Great food and cocktails
Food was authentic and delicious (coming from a Trinidadian). Love that they have all the little Trini comforts like pineapple Chow, pepper sauce, LLB, dinner mints and of course the alcohol selection. Soca music! Met some great Trini s which was the cherry on top of the experience. Wish I lived in Toronto so I could come more often. You have to go here :)
10/10. Delicious food and hospitable service! Chandon Benni seasoning was authentic and true to Trini form!! Garlic sauce also divine. Please sell your sauces in bottle form, I will be a buyer!!!! So happy to find a place to satisfy my trini cravings. Bake and shark is a must! Can t wait to go back!!
The vibe was overall amazing, beautiful day, great music and good food. Our service was frustrating. We arrived and were offered a seat at the bar while we waited for a patio seat to open up. Shortly after, someone else took our spot (which is fine, bc apparently they were there first). However the way our server was spoken to by the supervisor(?) was rude, especially bc she her tone wasnt welcoming or comforting to us. Instead of offering a solution, we decided to suggest alternatives to which she was cold in her response. Seems like poor communication amongst the staff team. The server who took over was very kind. ANYWAYS. The food was great. We got the Mac and Cheese balls, the Duck Sliders, and the Jackfruit Sliders. All were fantastic however the duck was a little light portioned. The rum punch wasnt for me but the maracas mojito was delicious!! Would recommend the visit.
I really enjoy nights at chadon beni, staff and owner were so kind. I love how the music is 100% soca. Try the bbq pig tail, chef kiss! Food
It was a cute spot, the servers were nice and the drinks were ok but, It is veryyy small.
I have been wanting to try this place for a long time, finally went tonight, and it did not disappoint! Food - The food was delicious and full of flavor! My daughter, who eats home cooked trini food from my family, and her mother in law gave the food a 10/10! We had the beef sliders, lobster tacos, mac and cheese with callaloo, and the bake and shark. It was hard for me to pick a favorite, but if I had to, it would be the mac and cheese with callaloo but I recommend any of those dishes. Our cocktails we ordered, the soca sunrise and the Trinidad sour were really good! Service - Our server was friendly and she was definitely working hard, my only not so positive comment about the service is that they should have had an extra person. When I got there, they had 2 people working, but after a while, it was only our server, and she was good, but you could feel the lack of the presence of another person to help out. Although a week night it was still busy. Atmosphere - soca music pumping...LOVE it! I do have to comment on the bathroom situation, it is located so close to the bar and only the 1 bathroom, it didnt bother me so much but still...so close to the bar...not ideal. All in all, the vibe was vibing! I will definitely be back to try other items on the menu! Parking: Lots of street parking on Shaw
We got the bake and shark, crab dumplings, conch tacos, grilled corn ribs, and breadfruit chips. We came on a Sunday evening and got to enjoy our meal on the patio! There was good music and good vibes. The tables around us were smoking cigarettes which kind of sucked but they left by the time our food arrived. My favourite were the tacos. I really liked the texture of the conch, the sweetness from the chutney and the kick from the curry. I thought they all meshed well together. The dumplings are a close second. It was flavourful and a fun take on dumplings. The rest of the food was good, but I wasn t particularly wow d by any. The corn and the breadfruit chips specifically are things that I would skip. I m glad I tried this spot!
Caribbean vibes in Toronto! We recently went to a Tropical Cocktail Party to try the new empress Gin cocktails and they were stunning + delicious. The cocktails were crafted to perfection from the new Indigo and Elder Flower Empress Gin bottles Bird of Paradise Trip Around The Sun Chadon Beni is popular for the unique fusion Trini-Caribbean menu and we loved the beautifully presented and delicious bites especially Jerk chicken tacos, Sliders and their bake shrimp!
The food was amazing! Every order was presented 100% I ll definitely go back again. Vegetarian options: Good selections Kid-friendliness: We occupied the private room so the children were fine.
Awesome! I cant single out any particular dish as they were sll top shelf.
Always a great time when I visit Chadon Beni! The food is affordable and shareable, and the vibes are just great. Everyone, including the owner, are all extremely kind and welcoming! A must visit!
Had great friendly service for my take out order here! The server in all black was fantastic in helping me decide what to order. The flavours are super tasty and the portions are pretty good. The only thing I would say is that its a little pricey for what you get.
Note to the POC community, this is a Trinidadian restaurant, BUT, it is not owned by a POC! As an Afro-Trini I was very disappointed. The food is a 3/10 at best. Its food made for non-Carribean people that have no knowledge of what good Trini food should taste like! The atmosphere is 2/10, unless you want the old time rum shop vibe?! There is (1) bathroom that is NOT accessible, way too close to the dining room, extremely small, and narrow! As a plus-size person, I had to shuffle sideways to enter/exit the bathroom! Aside from all that their customer service is 10/10! Theyre very friendly and welcoming!
Friendly waitstaff and amazing food
We saw this place on TikTok and thought to give something new a try. We ordered a bunch of small plates to share and everything was delicious. Total for 3 people was around 120$ which is amazing for how much food we ordered. Really amazing food for a really good price. Chill vibes. Server was super nice as well.
As a West Indian, I don t find the food authentic or flavourful enough. The conch tacos were so over done. The bake for the bake and shark is so hard, and the callaloo is questionable
Loved everything about this place. Service was exceptional, Stephs (i hope that s your name, thats how good the punch is!!) recommendations were on point & the rum punch!!! I would come back here just for that!!
Authentic flavours with a twist. The breadfruit chips reminded me of how my parents prepared breadfruit when I was a kid. The shrimp polourie was phenomenal. The server and owner were pleasant to talk to and very helpful. Chadon Beni was great and I cant wait to come back. 10/10
Choice spot to meet with friends, enjoy a taste of Trinidadian cuisine over drinks and an evening full of laughter. Heart felt thanks to the staff, kitchen crew and the rest of the team! Food
Great food, good vibes. my only problem with this place is they dont have doubles, but thats just the Trini in me speaking.. Ill definitely stop by whenever Im in Toronto again
Service was lovely - server was very nice and extremely friendly. Food was good albeit it a little off market for what we were hoping to get - not as big of a West Indian selection as expected, surprisingly. Food was delicious nonetheless. The atmosphere left a little to be desired. Would go again
Love this place! Ive been here a few times with friends and family, and Ive always had a great time. From the incredible food and drinks, to the soca music and vibes, it feels like being in Trinidad. The owner and employees are so nice and welcoming, always love chatting with them!
Ross and Steph made our anniversary dinner perfect. We made a 45 minute drive just to sample some authentic west Indian cuisine and it was well worth it. I cant wait to go back. Everything was delicious and the tacos were exceptional.
It was my first time at this place and i loved it. The vibes was nice, the service was a 10 and the food didnt disappoint. I will definitely be going back forsure.
Delicious food, extremely tasty. The food comes out hot! Not warm or lukewarm. Great atmosphere. Will definitely come back during the summer.
My group was very disappointed in the food here. Nearly everything on the menu other than the sliders is deep fried and heavily so - everyone in my group was west Indian and there are certainly other options that could be put on the menu to give customers a break, we left feeling like we needed a salad. Some of the items were tasty, but most were bland. Service was friendly enough, but when we got there we were told the second floor was closed until 6... And well before 6 another group was taken up to be seated there. I dont know if they were friends of the owners but it kind of rubbed us the wrong way especially because we were seated right beside the doors and all had to keep our coats on to stay warm every time the door opened. Unfortunately, a few good menu items arent enough to bring us back.
Went for my birthday dinner and it was 10/10 definitely recommend!!! Shoutout to my Trini server she was the sweetest
I came here yesterday to celebrate my friends 30th birthday and it was such a great experience. All of the food was *chefs kiss* excellent, what a great take on Trini food. And the service was exceptional, thank you Steph (our server) and Ross (the owner) who gave us some history on the restaurant and his other businesses! I will definitely be coming back.
First, let me say that the service is great. They are hard working and deserve all the credit for what they do. Im giving this place a 2 star due to the food. Everything is deep fried and unfortunately is not a representation of the food of Trinidad and Tobago. The flavours are bland, pepper sauce is weak and just felt like this place should be called a something else. There is nothing that wasnt deep fried. I left feeling so unhealthy and unsatisfied. That said, I hope you change up the menu! Good selection on the private Ryan mix you were playing!
It s a vibe ! Music, food and service is on point - you can t miss this cute Trini spot on Queen St. The food was absolutely delicious and wasn t a single dish we didn t devour. The shark and bake and coconut curry dumplings were our favourite. The watermelon mojito was also very refreshing. The owner was incredibly hospitable and ensured we were having a great time. Make sure to visit !
Had my doubts at first, food was delicious, service was excellent...great job
Love visiting - one of the best food places in the 6ix. We always order the bake and shrimp, and a rum punch pitcher. (Other food items are great too like the breadfruit chips, lobster tacos and wings_ Staff is always friendly. The owner is down to earth. Its a great time when you visit, with some good Caribbean music
a good trini spot in toronto! flavourful food. pure vibes for a great price
Crack in form of food. Only place in the city I found who can compete with McDonalds for my money.
Honestly very mediocre experience. Tiny place, food was alright but overpriced wouldn t return another issue and reason I m writing this review is owner came around and asks for reviews
The food was AMAZING.. Customer service was great. The owner was very friendly and polite. I definitely would visit again and highly recommend everyone to visit. Reminds me of Trinidad.
Great experience. Bake & shark was fantastic.
Food was great! Wouldn t say it s authentic Trinidadian food but definitely had lots of flavor. Very filling!
Best rum punch , watermelon mojitos, and wings in Toronto! All menu items are delicious. Always a good time
The food was flavourful and service was excellent! The callaloo soup was perfect on a rainy night, crab dumplings were a burst of goodness in your mouth and could have kept eating the duck sliders! Cant wait to come back!
This is a must visit on Queen West.
Chadon Beni is a great spot for authentic Trinidadian cuisine. Their food is flavorful and well-seasoned, and their portions are generous. Chadon Benis cocktails are the perfect complement to their flavorful cuisine. I loved their buffalo wings and elk sliders - extremely juicy and fresh. Definitely worth a visit if youre in the mood for some Caribbean food!
I recently visited Chadon Beni for dinner and was blown away by the incredible flavours and authentic Caribbean cuisine. The staff was welcoming and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. The restaurant had a warm and inviting atmosphere that added to the dining experience.
Chadon Beni is hands down one of the best Caribbean restaurants in Toronto. Their food is always fresh and full of flavor, and their service is friendly and welcoming. I particularly loved their jerk chicken tacos and coconut curry crab dumplings. loved their rum punch, which was sweet and tangy, and their watermelon mojito, which had just the right amount of kick.
The service and food is amazing. I have been there twice so far. Looking forward to my 3rd visit
The table wasnt ready when we got there. We had to wait for a bit for them to get everything ready.
Amazing good and customer service. The BEST Rum Punch in the city!
Listen...this place was awesome!! The food the staff! Felt like I was at home in sweet Trini. Good food! Good people! I recommend this place! 5 stars.
Parking: Parking was easy and available
Great vibes and the food is fantastic
I recently dined at Chadon Beni in Toronto and I have to say that my experience was extremely disappointing. Despite the restaurants claims of offering Caribbean-inspired dishes, the food lacked any discernible flavor. In fact, some dishes like the macaroni balls were completely tasteless. Moreover, the portion sizes were extremely small and yet the prices were exorbitant. I spent over $120 and still left feeling extremely hungry. Even worse, the pitchers were filled 3/4th with ice, resulting in just 2 1/2 cups of actual liquid. It was not only frustrating but also a complete waste of money. Furthermore, I felt that the restaurant was guilty of cultural appropriation at its finest. It seemed as if all the Caribbean flavors were washed away, leaving behind a bland and overpriced menu that left a sour taste in my mouth. In conclusion, I cannot recommend Chadon Beni to anyone. It was a complete and utter disappointment and a waste of money. The lack of flavor, small portions, and high prices are simply not worth it. Save your money and go somewhere else.
I was excited to visit this restaurant with my friend as she celebrated her birthday and we were both longing for a taste of home. Let me tell you, Chadon Beni DID NOT disappoint. The service, from the time we stepped in was fantastic! I felt as if they knew me. The team took the time to share with me how meals are prepared (I have allergies and was concerned). They checked on us to make sure we were doing fine and made sure we were comfortable. Now the food! FANTASTIC! I could taste the seasoning, the portions were great and the prices, wow - so affordable! I enjoyed the macaroni pie and callaloo, the bake and shark and the wings... yummy. And dont get me started on the drinks! Light and refreshing with the right amount of punch . The atmosphere at Chadon Beni was lively and not overbearing - great music and we could still have a conversation. The gave a homely feeling with the right amount of class. The added touch for me was the fact that the owner, Ross, was on hand for providing context, insights and the right amount of piccong to let you know he was Trini to d bone. I felt so welcomed and felt that my business was appreciated. Trust me, I will be back and everyone should try Chandon Beni for a lovely taste of sweet TnT right here in Toronto.
I can t begin to explain how satisfied I am with my experience. I got the opportunity to continue my birthday celebrations by dining in today with my friend. From the warm welcome and customer service by staff and Ross, the owner to the great atmosphere and location. I really love how Ross makes the time to interact with his customers. This says a lot for me. We had the bake and shark which transported me back home to Maracas beach, the macaronie pie bites and callaloo (which is a staple for Sunday lunch in Trinidad) and the Chadon Beni Buffalo wings which were all delicious. You get a really good portion size for the value. The drinks had - maracas mule and watermelon mojito were also quite refreshing. I would definitely be back soon for my doubles and to try the other items on the menu. Thank you Ross and your staff for a wonderful experience home away from home. Continued success to you!!
Had such a great time enjoying drinks, food and friends at the restaurant. The staff and owner are so polite it was great tasting and feeling a bit of home .
Food is good. Very different. My server was very slow but had a good time
I had an opportunity to visit Chadon Beni today. True to its name, the venue has a green theme throughout. I tried the curry crab dumplings, fried macaroni pie and callaloo, lobster tacos, & the bake and shark. I also sampled the nylon pool for drinks. The food and drinks were delish with a modern take on traditional trinidadian dishes. The music was on point and my little feet was wanting to get up and throw down a lil wine. A cute spot for yummy tapas style food, drinks & vibes.
Food was so damn good! That Chadon Beni sauce is everything!
Came here last week for some post dinner drinks with two of my cousins. We ended up still ordering food (Shark and Bake, Conch fritters and some fries) along with cocktails. Everything was delicious, especially the sauces that came with the food. You could barely taste the alcohol in the cocktails and they were really tasty. The vibe was very chill. It kind of reminded me of Chubby s, but more raw and less expensive while maintaining the Trini feel. The music was lively and upbeat. The staff was super nice, especially cause we had to sit outside on the patio as we did not have a reservation, but it was actually fine and really nice out at the time. This spot would be great for a first date. Would highly recommend and will definitely be coming back.
Unexpectedly found this gem looking for a casual Friday night drink. It s got a cute patio with friendly service and great soka music! Two of us shared bake and shrimp for an appy, which was light and tasty, and got a beer each.
Amazing food. Everything was delicious. Drinks were perfect. Service was impeccable. Everything was great.
Went there for an early dinner/late lunch. They have so many great menu options. We enjoyed the patio and tried many of the appetizers. They were filling and everything is shareable so that was perfect. We ll definitely have to go back to try their sliders.
Let me tell you the food was fresh. And the flavour of the food was really authentic. The staff very friendly. They were bumping soca so obviously a vibe. The owner was really nice he came to us to see how we were doing and was super nice to me and my 8 month old. I will for sure be going here again.
This establishment has some of the best food I have ever eaten in my life! Each dish felt like it was ripped out of Trinidad and Tobago, just like coming home. Cooked to perfection and super flavourful The Macaroni Pie Balls were the highlight and the Rum Punch utter perfection loved the touch of Nutmeg on top, also be sure to try the Empress G+T Cocktail, an excellent refresher. Bake and Shark authentic and the Crab Dumplings. Service was impeccable and all staff very helpful and knowledgeable about the offerings of the restaurant. Dont even think, just come here and enjoy yourself!

Took my wife on a date here. She was talking about this place she saw on Instagram for weeks now. The food did not disappoint. She kept saying, this is back home food! Which she doesnt say often when we go out for Caribbean food. Music was nice, not too loud. Rum punch was nice. The bake and shark was my favorite. The staff and owner were so pleasant. We will be back for sure. Big up Ross and the team.
What a great authentic experience!! My wife heard about this spot on Instagram and shes been dying to try it out. Its a small but very authentic restaurant with really good food! Their wings and fried mac and cheese balls served with callaloo soup was a PERFECT PAIR (the soup comes with it). We also had the jerk tacos had FRIED jerk pieces which was really unique. We had the crab dumplings which were OK and the duck sliders were a whole different experience! Yumm!! Steph was an AMAZING server..we knew as soon as we heard her Trini accent that we would have a real authentic experience. She explained all the food items and was soo pleasant. The music in this place was BUMPING! Highlighly recommend this spot if youre looking for some quick bites.
Enjoyed the food (and hot sauce). Definitely sit on the patio if it s a nice day! We ordered the conch fritter, crab dumplings and jerk chicken tacos. Really enjoyed the conch fritters and would definitely get it again! Would recommend trying the crab dumplings if you haven t had it before. And 10000% ask for the hot sauce - adds a delicious kick to the meal. The indoor seating felt a bit small, but loved the music. The outdoor patio looked amazing and would definitely sit there next time.
What can I say ? Definitely one of the more unique Caribbean restaurants in the Toronto area. The food is amazing !!! Must tries: lobster tacos, macaroni bites, curry crab dumplings and the sliders. The alcoholic cocktails there are really great too. The Rum Punch has a great kick to it. As always, server for our table of 4 was very attentive and the food was coming out at a good pace. So solid 5 s across the board. Will definitely be back again !
Food is tasty, nice spot to lime with good friends.
First off this place is a vibe, being a trini I approve of this place. This place makes me feel like home and makes me happy to know and love our culture. I also seen kes the band was here so I was excited. My friend and I were here for. Concert and came here looking for a nice chill place for dinner. We ended up sitting at the bar and we got rum punch, the conch fritters and bake and shark sliders. The rum punch was good it was sweet and not over powering and was good to sip and vibe with the food. The conch fritters were delicious as well, filled with trini seasonings and served with tamarind sauce and mango chutney was perfect, they came piping hot out the kitchen. The bake and sharks were also really good with the yummy seasoning and sauce and yummy fried shark. I put some of the Josie pepper sauce and that hit the spot as well. I was told the sauce was made in house and it definitely did deliver and give a wonderful flavorful kick. And you know food is good when you don t need to eat a ton to be satisfied. I love what the owner and staff do for the place and also how they play soca music. I will be back and recommend people to come here for a modern trini flare.
Reservations are absolutely necessary for any chance of dining in the restaurant before 8:30pm. A rooftop reservation is easier. The restaurant is tiny; picnic tables outside and on the rooftop; a bar; three or four four-top tables and a table for two inside. In addition to a small venue, the menu is also small, as in the fare should be described as tapas or an appetizer menu. The hostess was very busy so a bartender jumped into service. The fairly short wait for the freshly prepared food was surprising. The wings came out quickly and were generously sauced. The duck and pork sliders were a decent size. The conch fritters took a little longer to be served but they were fresh and a good size. Mac and cheese bites are off a cheesecake factory menu in presentation but a cheddar cheese base. The callaloo may not have been all taro leaf based which was possibly the most disappointing taste-wise. There were no stand outs on the menu which Im sure conflicts with previous reviews. Each menu item simply fell flat. The drinks menu, which was three times the size of the food menu had cute names with Trini references and inexplicably Red Stripe beer. Id sooner go for drinks than the food.
I m so disappointed as I write this review, but I really had to share my experience because there s a lot of unworthy hype surrounding this restaurant. As a Trini born and raised, I was extremely shocked and let down by a place that would call themselves Chadon Beni, and not take the time to season their food. Every dish that I ordered was bland. The curry crab and dumpling was the only one that had flavour, but no salt. The Macaroni Pie Bites and Callaloo was another disappointment. The Callaloo had no salt, no flavour, just bland. I had to ask for extra salt, and could not stop adding along with hot sauce. The Bake and Shark was another huge let down. Tasteless, unseasoned shark which was just disgusting, because it s fish. There was absolutely no seasoning, and no Chadon Beni. Every dish was just garnished with Chadon Beni, but there was no actual seasoning. What the eff!! To top it off the glasses were dirty. My fiancé s glass had a lip print on it, and no one had drank from it which was a complete turn off. We asked for straws and were told that they didn t have any. What restaurant doesn t have straws!?!? So, we didn t even bother to drink from the glasses. Honestly, we should ve just left after that, but I really wanted to give them a chance to redeem themselves with the food. Sadly everything was a complete let down and a waste of time, and money after being so excited to try a Trini restaurant in the city. If you re thinking of going to this restaurant for real Trinbago food, please save yourself the trip and money because it s definitely not worth it. Find somewhere else where you can actually get well seasoned food with good portions and price.
Service and drinks were great, but FOOD was very OVERPRICED and SHRINKFLATED. Two tiny little sliders were $14 to $21. We spent $150 for 3 average people and weren t even full. Come here for drinks and vibes. Get dinner elsewhere!!
We were waiting 30 min just for give order, no recommendation dat place
A nice tribute to Trinidadian food. Chadon Beni wings were great. Bake and shark was spot on but could use some pepper sauce. Drinks were good. Overall a must try for Trini food in Toronto.
amazing place!!! me and my friends just ran into it while walking down the street. great vibes, great drinks, great food. we will come back!!!!
Delicious food. Tapas style, all shareable. Jerk chicken tacos were so yummy. Nice patio, great tunes. A must try on Queen W.
The crab dumplings are just addicting. Kept ordering them. It was a patio day, well shaded seats
First time trying out Trini food and it was a splendid meal! Try out their house hot sauce!
Trini this is the place for callaloo and macaroni bites
Amazing spot! Owner (Ross) and all the staff (Serena and Steph) were so warm and welcoming! We enjoyed the company as much as the incredibly delicious and unique food. Takes me back to my times in Trinidad! Great atmosphere and music too!
Awesome spot. Sat on the patio on a Friday in the summer. Drinks were not run of the mill and really good. Trini food is tapas style and awesome to share. Fun vibes.
I have to be very honest, I was extremely disappointed in this restaurant. The only thing I enjoyed was the macaroni pie bites with callalloo and the service, our waitress was really nice. I ordered the watermelon mojito which was tasteless I had to send it back and get something else. 4 of us were dining, and only 1 person somewhat enjoyed their dinner. I had the shark and bake which also was tasteless it lacked seasoning. We also ordered the jerk chicken tacos which didnt taste anything like jerk chicken again it lacked the seasoning. The only person who kind of enjoyed their dinner had the Chadon Beni Buffalo wings . We also had an order of fries which were good, how can you mess up fries! I presumed with a name like Chadon Beni it Had to be Amazing plus I saw the reviews. Well Im not sure what type of people were rating the food but in my humble opinion being of Trinidadian decent they Completely Missed the Mark! They can also do a better job with the decor it looks like they just did a rushed job. I was embarrassed because I had friends visiting for the Caribana weekend and I took them here. Wont be a 2nd time. I still wish the restaurant well wishes.
First experience was amazing, great place for dine in and take out. The drinks was great as well, soca sunset is a must try also trini rum punch. For food, Bake and shark and curry crab. Will return for sure....
Amazing!!!!
What a find! Delicious food (we worked through almost the whole menu - the shark bake rules!) and unique cocktails (happy hour!). A very friendly, casual atmosphere. Highest possible recommendation.
Great food , great spot. Tried most of their menu items, everything was great!
Great place to get a twist on Trini food. Delicious food and drinks, amazing atmosphere and service. I would go there everyday just for the callaloo alone. Would love a non deep-fried option for the lobster tacos even though they were terrific.
Excellent tasty food! I loved the way the curry crab and dumplings are made and they were delicious. The shark and bake and elk sliders were delish! We ordered several dishes on the menu and all were flavourful and so delicious with the definite Trinidadian seasoned flavours. The rum punch was just right! We even got extra special treatment at the end of our visit. Thank you! We will definitely be going back.
Amazing food, the duck slider might be one of the top 5 best things I ve ever eaten, I can t wait to go back!
highly recommend! Seafood dishes are all off the hookkkkkk
A decent place for drinks and shared appetizers but dont expect a complete meal with your order. The wings were tiny but I enjoyed the bake and shark and my cocktail.
Bess food, bess drinks and bess music -Wah more yuh want? Trini small bites menu will make you feel like youre at a posh carnival fete in Trinidad. Try Everything! Rum Punch is delicious -made in-house and not too sweet. (Buy a pitcher and get the free wings!) Parang playing for Christmas and Soca for the rest of the year. In-house pepper sauce is super flavorful (buy a bottle to take home with you)
Man....stupessss..this is a restaurant on the bethamonly ting trini is d music place smell of roach nobody looking speaking representing trini..food ..what food 3 choices dont waste ur time..if u is ah real trini
Great atmosphere and great service. However, the food was a different experience. I ordered the wings as I was curious about the flavour described. When the wings arrived, there were 8 small wings for $18 dollars. The flavour did not fall in line with the description. Im actually ok with not eating the hormone and steroid infused wings that are huge. But you cant serve 8 super small wings for $18. Lower the price per serving or increase the portion for the price. Either way, somethings gotta give
I really enjoyed the bake & shark, coconut curry crab dumpling & the drinks were really good10/10!!!! Customer service was amazing, thank you for wonderful service! Food
This place is absolutely worth the visit. We were greeted by great staff and a very friendly owner. As someone born and raised in trinidad, I appreciated all the food and flavours. I even had to order seconds because it was so delicious. We had the pitcher of rum punch, bake and shark. Macaroni pie balls and callalo (mouth watering) and lobster tacos. The vibes was on point, little things reminded me of back home, some of the photos on the wall and the hanging plant holders. I would visit this restaurant everyday if I could. Thanks Ross and staff for a great experience
YOU ARE MISSING OUT ON LIFE IF YOU HAVE NOT BEEN HERE, TRUST ME Here is what we got to indulge in: - Crispy curry conch tacos - Coconut curry crab dumplings - Bake & Shark - Duck sliders - To drink: Maracas mule & nylon pool My ABSOLUTE gun to my head FAVOURITE had to be the duck sliders like omg I could eat these sliders all day the duck was SO juicy, the chutney & brie just added the perfect sweet & salty combo to it The tacos with the crispy conch was so yummy too I loved the flavour of the conch! It was my first time trying it & it almost tasted like crispy calamari, so cool I had no idea you could even eat conch whaaaat mind = blown The bake & shark was SO tasty too, it was my first time eating shark it was so juicy & flakey on the inside but fried perfectly on the outside the sauces, the chutneys and chadon beni as usual completed it so well Last but not the least were the coconut crab curry dumplings, y all know ya girl loves dumplings & add coconut, curry and crab ?! I was VIBING lol Can t forget the drinks either, both the mule and nylon pool were so boozy yet sweet, my fave type of drink Overall every dish was BANG ON I literally loved everything we tried and even though the portions look small trust me they fill you up !!! Also love the different proteins on their menu, tried 2 new seafoods in one afternoon haha I was happy Thank you so much to the owner Ross, Serena & the rest of the team for having us & treating us to this incredible feast! We cannot wait to come back & try the rest of the menu real soon So what are you waiting for ?! Go check them out y all This one is HIGHLY recommended, trust me you will NOT regret it
Nice selection of delicious food and nice drink selection. Could have better table service.
I had a delightful experience at Chadon Beni restaurant recently. The food was delicious, and I loved the coconut crab curry dumplings. The cocktails were fantastic, and the service was outstanding. The prices were reasonable, and overall, its an excellent choice for a satisfying dining experience.
Food is so good. Staff is very good and ready to help. I tried their all the new dishes this places offer and my favourite was the pork tail bbq. Its a must try
A fantastic restaurant with incredible flavors and a vibrant atmosphere. You wont be disappointed!
I was with a 64 man and they squeezed us into the front window table. Very uncomfortable. Table was too small to fit our meals. Its more tapas style dishes than actual meal size portions. Ordered the Wagyu beef sliders, chadon beni wings, shareable fries with the aioli sauce, and lobster tacos. This is more a summer patio menu. I made my own peppersauce/ketchup dip. As a Trini native, I was underwhelmed. I was waiting all year to come here. I drove past here all summer every Saturday (Im a bus driver), and it was packed. Please consider mini roti dishes, or doubles, regular pholorie, maybe pelau.. Park on the south side of Shaw. Green P parking.
If I could give this establishment 10 stars I would. The food, vibes and service was phenomenal. A friend of mine brought me here last night and I was shook that I never heard of them until now. The owner was courteous and went above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience. Food was DELISH! Even when I went to Trinidad the food wasnt this good. Oh and the drinks....man oh man. Dont miss out on this hidden gem nestled in the busy streets of Queen West. Cant wait to come back with family and friends.
Dont hesitate! This is a delicious spot, the food is full of flavour, the atmosphere is fun and perfect to check out with friends! Food 10/10 flavours!
My wife and I wish we can give a five plus STAR rating .It took us an hour to get there and parking was not easy to get but it was worth it even we got a parking ticket we wouldnt care because it was absolutely worth it. It was our first visit but certainly not our last.We cant wait to return and try something different. As Trinidadians we are used to the curried this and that so it was really nice to experience a delicious twist to the norm.We just had to meet your chef and thank him .Service was excellent. Thanks again.
Thurs, February 17th, 2022 - Toronto, ON - Snowstorm. Perfect night for a lime and some rum punch. Chadon Beni is unlike any other establishment of T&T origin in Toronto due to the professionalism and expertise of the ownership/management team. The bar is deep, the menu is snackable and playful. Yes, you can get your fill, but, Chadon Beni isnt about big plates. This Ossington/Queen spot is authentically Trinidadian while being very Toronto friendly. Did I mention that the bathroom is clean and accessible? Well done Ross and team. See you soon.
Great date night. Dont bither reserving upstairs. its not worth it. The food was great, the shark and bake were nice! Service was fantastic.
Great food and service, we cant wait to go back.
I tried some sliders which were very tasty. I also tried the jerk chicken tacos. The tacos were very full but didnt make a mess when I ate them. They also were very tasty. I will definitely be going back.
Good spot for a first date, especially if you are on a budget but still want a nice relaxed night out. This could also be a regular thing kinda spot. Ur pocket and your date will thank you. Excellent drinks! Great customer service! Food aight, likkle Caribbean North American fusion shareable type thing.
Love this place. Husband and I came to have a quiet dinner for our 5th anniversary and it was absolutely amazing. Food and service was impeccable, very tasty tapas menu. Also love the authenticity of the restaurant. We will definitely be back!
High expectations of this restaurant, quickly lowered. As a fellow Trini I was expecting the food to have more flavour. I understand catering to all, however a splash more seasoning would improve all items we tried. The jerk chicken tacos resembled shawarma flavour, conch had no flavour, sholurie, Mac and cheese balls with callaloo. Lack luster. The staff were friendly and helpful, the atmosphere normal. Probably wont be back. Which is disappointing.
Chadon beni is a vibe! The staff are so nice & friendly, the food is deeelicious, I visited during a pop up with a prix fixed menu, so will have to go back to try more items!
Chadon Beni is a nice vibe, the excellent service was the highlight for me. The young lady who served us was very nice and helpful. She was balancing a lot of tables herself and was hospitable and checking in on everyone. The menu is impressive, they have creative culinary ideas that are inspired by the ingredients and flavours of T&T. I had high expectations for the food seeing that its evident they invested a lot of intention, time and thought into such creative recipes. Overall, the food was alright, some dishes were better than others. Ill list my favourites to least favourites, including drinks. I tried the jerk chicken tacos, curry crab dumplings, mac and cheese balls with callaloo, donuts and coconut ice cream and empress gin. From favourite to least favourite: 1) Mac and cheese bites. Very creative & tasty. I dont like cheese at all, but these were really good, werent too cheesy, crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. Callaloo sauce was chefs kiss. Brilliant combination! The balls were actually much bigger than anticipated, it was very filling and priced well. 2) Coconut ice cream & donuts. The star was absolutely the coconut ice cream. I rarely eat ice cream but this was fantastic. Coconut flavour was a nice twist. Not too strong and overpowering, just perfect. The donuts were okay, but were kind of oily and tasted more like deep fried bake with syrup on top. Well priced. 3) Jerk chicken tacos. They tasted alright and the sauce was good, but the jerk chicken was fried a little too burnt for my liking. Perhaps its because it was deep fried and that masked the spices, but it didnt really taste like jerk seasonings to me. 4) Duck sliders. Creative idea, but the duck meat itself lacked seasoning and the chutney tasted just like ordinary Dianna BBQ sauce. Just two small sliders for the price which to me wasnt worth it. 5) Empress Gin & Tonic. It was quite bitter, just a very strong grapefruit taste. 6) My least favourite was the coconut curry crab dumplings. I didnt like the taste or texture. It was quite cold, and to me didnt taste anything like curry or coconut. I didnt enjoy these, and its a bit expensive for the amount you get. Overall great vibes, great service and a great menu, but execution on some dishes fell a bit short.
