The restaurant cancelled my order after 2 hours of waiting.
I spent a great deal of time trying to find a decent restaurant in midtown Toronto serving up fish and chips and stumbled on Coast Midtown on UberEats. Figuring that portions might be a bit on the small side, I ordered 3 fish and chips for 2 people. What a colossal mistake that was! You'll see from the photos that the battered fish was thoroughly burnt. Have they ever made fish and chips at this place before?!? The batter should've been a pleasant golden colour but instead it was the colour of burnt caramel. It was completely unenjoyable considering the overcooked batter was cutting my palate as I ate it. The fries might have been okay if they hadn't dropped the entire salt shaker in there. I would've been more forgiving if only 1 of the orders was burnt/overcooked in this way but all 3? So not happy to have thrown away almost $80 on this order. By the way, the 1 star is for the only thing that tasted decent which was the small side of coleslaw.
Ordered the lobster roll with side salad at a reasonable price. The lobster roll was great, though I could have easily eaten a second. The side salad was light and fresh with a very nice balsamic dressing. They even threw in a big chocolate chip cookie for free. Will definitely order again, but next time may order two!
I ordered from this location because I ordered from the downtown location before and the food was very tasty but the quality of food here is not as good as their downtown location. The cheese on the fries was the cheaper powdered parmesan instead shredded proper kind that they had in the downtown location. The flavor was not the same. I avoid ordering from this location now and go straight to their downtown location.
Just how good is the Lobster Roll from Coast by MDP Eglinton? If this Lobster Roll (that comes with the best French fries I’ve EVER tasted in my entire life) were to fall on and roll a little on the sidewalk at the corner of Yonge and Dundas (not sure yet which corner is the grodiest) I think I would still eat it. That’s how good it is!!!!
