Great date night. Perfect before a show at The Coal Mine theatre

The food was okay, the butter chicken was very acidic so not the best, the service was very questionable tho, I understand we came late but the coming late was 8:50, they close at 10 so I don t see a reason for us being pushed to leave early. The bill is very high when the food is average at best when it comes to indian food, and obviously there are places with much better service. Overall would not recommend.

Excellent service with excellent food. The paneer tikka masala was so fresh and layered with flavour. Also a great beer selection which raises the experience to a whole other level. Can t say enough about how great this place is.

Favourite Indian spot in Toronto as great as when they first opened

Great place to have Indian food. Ask for Arjun, he knows the menu in and out, very knowledgeable and very polite, real treasure to this restaurant. Customer service is on point, Ambiance is top notch, even their washrooms. Their Rogan Josh (lamb) and Tandoori are a blast.

Cumin Kitchen is our go to local Indian eatery on The Danforth. Love the warm welcoming and friendly yet unobtrusive service. The extensive menu is filled with delicious appetizers and mains. Everything we ve tried over the years has been tasty. Faves are the Pakora Platter, Lamb Roghanjosh, Chana Masala, ButterChicken, the daals, Chicken Madras, Tandoori Chicken, the butter naan, paratha and of course the mango lassi! Yummy Vegetarian options: Many tasty vegetarian options; mains and appetizers. Kid-friendliness: There s a welcoming atmosphere for kids both indoors or the patio and Cafe T. O. space

This place delivers flavourful food thats freshly made; Im not sure what else you could ask for from a restaurant. Wait a second! You could ask them to do a rush delivery at last-minute notice, and they accommodate the request just because they understand good customer service. This is officially my favourite Indian cuisine on this side of the city.

First time there and we truly enjoyed the dining experience. Food was very good. Service was exceptional, the waiter explained us everything we needed to make a decision. Atmosphere was truly welcoming. We took some food home for our kids and they loved it. No doubt I recommend this place. We will go back as it felt like family.

I was given the best recommendation of this restaurant, and tried it three times this year, i was highly disappointed with my food and experience. I came here in 2019, and had a wonderful experience and definitely had a better experience, but the menu and restaurant has gone down hill. See for yourself. Food

Delectable food, alluring ambience and the service 10/10

Went here for Mother s Day 2024 and was really impressed by the food and the genuinely lovely + kind service. From the complimentary papadums to the appetizers (get the Nepali Momos or Onion Bhaji), to the entrees (try any of their Tandoori options, the Butter Chicken, or Lamb Rogan Josh - anything really!) and sides (excellent Garlic Naan), every single dish we tried was delicious. Dietary options and restrictions are also extremely well-accommodated. Staff were knowledgeable and helpful as well on this front - we never felt like an inconvenience. Not to mention prices are incredibly fair for what you receive as well, in terms of both quality and portions, which was really refreshing to find these days. Will definitely return based on this and highly recommend! Vegetarian options: Wonderful selection for vegetarians! Much broader than the amount of available options at most restaurants.

Dilkhush ! This is the word, I would say, for The Cumin. It means that my heart is happy after coming here. Everything was on point, may it be the ambiance, the food, the interiors, and everything . Must, must try this place, and you would never regret ordering dal tadka with extra butter to be specific. The quantity was perfect for 4 people. Moneywise, it was not too costly. Lastly, I would say budget and taste friendly place . Ambience: 5/5 Food: 4.8/ 5 Customer Service: 5/5 Vegetarian options: Dal tadka was insane with that smokey flavor that you might miss here as a true Indian.

We didn t eat in the restaurant but ordered food for delivery and everything was perfect! Even the delivery man was lovely. We were impressed. The chicken madras and the spicy vindaloo were incredible and the naan was soft and delicious delicately flavoured. The Katchumbar salad was fresh and crisp, the dhal was fresh and delicious. We will definitely be ordering from Cumin Kitchen again soon. We all highly recommend

I ve been to this restaurant multiple times now and each time the food is always delicious. Family favourite is the chicken tikka masala and garlic naan. So yummy! I d love to try more of the items on the menu next time I stop by.

Went with a friend who had never had Indian Food. The reviews are absolutely correct. Cumin Kitchen is a gem. The restaurant is lovely. A Wednesday afternoon lunch and there are cloth napkins! My friends palate is mild and Arjun, our waiter, was so attentive to this. I could take heat but as I wanted to share my dishes I went with raita, garlic Naan and Palak Paneer (creamed spinach and paneer cheese). My friend the pakora platter. Everything was so yummy including the Cumin Beer! The service was excellent, friendly and attentive. The leftovers are being enjoyed at home. Thanks you Arjun for a wonderful experience.

Treated my brother to a birthday dinner trying something different. We left satisfied and very pleased. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Their craft beer was smooth and light. We had garlic Naan, rice butter chicken and curried goat on bone plus their house appetizer. All were excellent ... very flavorful and perfectly spiced. Finished with a Chai tea. A little pricey in my mind but at 70yrs now, I think a Big Mac is costly considering I could feed my family of 5 for same price Highly reccomend and well be back

Two of a party of four were totally happy with everything. The other two had some criticisms with the food but I believe stating I would return to Cumin Kitchen truly reflects my experience. My lamb chop meal was artfully plated and delicious. I also ordered creamed curry spinach (shared and enjoyed by all). Our waiter was friendly and attentive. The whole restaurants interior was lovely but I am glad we sat at the second table from the window and enjoyed the sunlight of the day.

Very very good. Delicious and very good service and very patient with the young crowd early birders. Busy and bustly but well staffed. Know how to mix a proper g&t. 4 stars (rather than 5) for food is more to do with what we ordered for a kid-friendly meal. Kid-friendliness: Super accommodating with our 5 and 8 year olds. Talked to the kids (not over them or down to them); happy to split single items into multiple cups/plates. We tried not to make a mess but...well they were very kind and patient.

Food was not authentic Indian because everything is too sweet even after you get medium spicy and all the curry s are almost same in taste.

Ive eaten in numerous times and love the food, service, and atmosphere. Ive lowered my review from 5 to 3 because I tried ordering online, but my favourite dish isnt available on their Skip the Dishes menu, Butter Paneer. I would happily raise it back to 5 stars if I can order for delivery the dish I enjoy in-person.

Great place which I came across by chance. Had a delicious Thali (lunch platter) which was fantastic! The food was served hot and was so flavourful! The service was second to none! I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Such a lovely experience taking my family to this adorable little restaurant. Really cute aesthetic, yummy food, and probably the best service I have ever received with a toddler. This place is so child friendly! They provided my child with their own kids plate, cup, and utensils and went out of their way to make sure my 2 year old was taken care of. As a parent to a busy toddler this was huge for me! Also the quantity of the food was great for the price. I enjoyed the paneer butter masala and the pakora platter the most! Looking forward to having more family outings here!

We had previously enjoyed take-out from Cumin Kitchen. When dining there the appetizers (Nepali mo-mos and a selection platter) arrived very promptly and were hot and tasty. The mango lassi was also delicious. Decor very pleasant.

My team at work had dinner at Cumin Kitchen and the meal blew us all away! We were a group of nearly 30 people. Laxmi reached out ahead of time to coordinate dishes, which were hot and ready by the time we arrived. The Cumin Kitchen team were all lovely, attentive, and patient with our group. The food was fantastic - tasty, hot, and beautifully presented. Our group occupied the back lounge area of the restaurant, which had a warm and pleasant atmosphere. Overall, I definitely recommend trying Cumin Kitchen, whether your group is small or large. Thank you very much to Laxmi and the rest of the team! I will certainly be back.

Mains came with a lot of sauce and curry, which I like. Had the Salmon/Fish curry, butter chicken, and eggplant with garlic Naan. Tastey and well seasoned (so that you dont have to give it all back after 2 hours). Was take-out, so cannot comment on the atmosphere. Friendly service over the phone with great recommendations. However, I am all about the Naan. I prefer mines light, chewy, not burnt, and made with a tandoori oven. This was not it. I was more like bread or store brought Naan. Cumin needs to work on their Naan especially if you are going to charge that much for it!

Everything was top notch: food (butter bread basket, dal makhni, paneer tikka masala, chicken madras, lamb vindaloo, tandoori platter, tandoori mushrooms and biryani) were amazing! Our server Laxmi was phenomenal. Drinks were beautifully presented (mango martinis and beer flight) and tasted delicious. Highly recommend this hidden gem!

Had an amazing dinner at CUMIN restaurant. I love this place. The food is phenomenal. I order takeout at least once per week and the food is consistently excellent. The staff is amazing. We always used to order takeout from here as the food tasted good and quantity is also good for the price. We went for dine in and were amazed. The service was great, good and drinks were good. Ambience was nice too and most important, bathrooms were clean which is not always the case in indian restaurants.

Ordered from here using UberEATS for the first time. Chicken Tikka Masala(0/5): Gravy was tasty but the chicken seemed to be extremely dry. Felt like frozen chicken Tikka pieces from the freezer cooked up in new gravy. I was able to get refund for this from UberEATS. Dal Makhani(3/5): Decent, creamy, satisfying Pakora Platter(2/5): Good variety, however they were extremely oily. They were soggy / mush as well but thats probably because of long delivery time and a bit soggy and mush. Butter Naan(4/5): liked that they make naans in large triangle shapes like we get in India. Big size, value for money.

I am personally not into Indian cuisine and I would honestly have to give it a 9/10. I was highly impressed myself. The Chicken Korma was the tables favourite which consisted of chicken chunks in cream of cashew infused in black pepper. The garlic naan was really good & came with great portions. The pakor platter was another favourite & we purchased an add-on of chicken pakora which was really good. Strongly recommend getting the platter if it s your first time at the Cumin Kitchen. The service was outstanding and made us feel very welcomed.

Finding good and authentic indian places is often tough. Fortunately, I did come across Cumin Fine Indian Kitchen, truly one of the best indian restaurants in toronto. Not too spicy, such authentic flavours, so good. Loved the hariyali kebab, samosas and palak paneer.

Great Indian food on Danforth!

Service and food were really good. Butter chicken was just perfect. Tandoor is wings being the highlight.

Loved this restaurant. The atmosphere, food and service is amazing. Staff was helpful and knowledgeable about the menu offering great recommendations. Tip: Make sure you book in advance as the restaurant is busy as well finding a parking spot is difficult.

The two stars are only for the servers being very friendly. The food tastes amazing no doubt but the portion size is less for the price we paid. Also, the Gulab jamun we ordered had an ant crawling on the bowl despite that it was included in my bill which I felt shouldnt have been included. I didnt mind paying for the rest of the food. But the ant made me question if I should go back considering its one of the expensive restaurants. We also ordered food for takeout and the packaging was very shabby and we ordered tandoori butter rotis the ones we got didnt have the butter. Despite asking for the chicken tikka masala to be spicy, it was very mild for an Indian palette. The martini was great, didnt know why a lychee martini had a cherry but it was great. I dont think Ill go back considering the fact that with restaurants in the similar price range, I expect a certain level of hygiene which wasnt met because of the ant and also that the washrooms were very filthy.

The food here is good, I find it a little expensive, but the quality is good. The reason I did not give a 5-star is due to the fact that when I ordered their butter chicken it did not come with either rice or any type of bread, which is just unusual.

Ordered takeout today! It s my second time and the food continues to be amazingly delicious and consistent. I had the goat curry with butter naan! And rice with a lassi! The naan was the best I have ever had and the goat curry was perfectly seasoned and not with too much salt which I appreciated! The pakoras were about of this world! Im coming to dine in next time! Everything was worth the money! My new favourite spot!

Gem in East York. Simple style with fine dining style of cooking

Cumin was a pleasant surprise of a place, Nestled on the Danforth among the traditional food offerings is this cute Indian restaurant. Decorated very tastefully yet not with the traditional over bearing art and decorations. We being a large part of 12 were quickly greated an seated at our reserved table. The menu is well organized and there are plenty of options to suit most pallets as well as wallets. I found the price point for Cumin to be very reasonable considering what you pay at other Indian restaurants. All the dishes we ordered were cooked perfectly, the goat was tender as were the chicken dishes..the only thing I did note and this isnt a knock per say was that the flavours off the dishes while present felt muted compared to what I have tasted in other establishments. That isnt to say the food is bland or tasteless, but more perhaps a conscious effort to make the food approachable to all who would want to try it. Overall Cumin is a fresh take on the establishment, the staff is friendly, attentive and always available to address any concerns.

Absolutely loved the food and the service and atmosphere at this restaurant!! The naan is phenomenal. I was skeptical that the Tandoor Salmon might be dry but it was moist and flavorful with subtle flavors that allowed the Salmon to shine. The Aloo Ghobi was not mushi like you would typically find at other restaurants. Our server Pramisha was so cordial and attentive. They really impressed.

The food, service and atmosphere makes the experience exceptional, it means allot when you know that theycare about the customers, it s worth the drive from Brampton, which has Indian restaurants everywhere, the food is not over spiced and most importantly not oily, cooked to perfection with every detail. The owner and servers care which means everything. I highly recommend this place

Extremely disappointing. The kebabs had not taste, and the meat wasn t fresh at all. I am not sure if the has been a change in chef/staff. Whatever we ordered, we have ordered several times before and these dishes have always tasted very good. Cumin used to be one of my favourite Indian restaurants in the hood. The ingredients were always super fresh, and the food was always so delicious. Not anymore and we won t be back.

1st time, we had the butter chicken, Naan, spinach and paneer. 2nd time, I dont remember. The third time we visited with friends. The garlic and butter naans are awesome, tandoori fish fantastic, the lamb chops are phenomenal (most tender lamb chops I have ever had and so flavorful).

Great authentic Indian food

Unfortunately I need to change my review. We ordered $50 worth of food and got hardly anything. 2 butter chicken one with 3 cubes of meat the other with 1, and salad with not even a quarter of a tea spoon of dressing thrown on the salad! Very very very disappointed

Delicious Indian restaurant with a varied menu and friendly staff. The chicken korma was the highlight of my eating experience.

Order : Half tandoori chicken: its so good. Spices are subtle but perfect. The chicken wasnt over cooked. Comes with this beet salad, lemon wedges and chutney. 5/5 Butter Chicken: not spicy at all. Good dish for those challenged with that. The chicken was so tender. The gravy (curry) was tomato goodness. You will love it. Portion size is better then most Indian restaurants. 5/5 Veggie Biryani: it was ok. The rice was a bit clumpy. The carrots were a turn off. Biryanis are usually fluffy with all grains accounted for. Tasty enough. Small Raita with it. 3/5 Lamb Kabobs: You get 4 in dish. Spices were spot on. A bit over done, just a bit. You will still love it. Not as juicy as it could be. Served with chutneys that are amazing. 4/5 2xNaan. 5/5. Very tasty. Complimentary papadums. Crispy! 5/5 Prices online are wrong on their website. They are $3-$4 more. Be warned. Will definitely go again. The interior is so pretty. $95 including tax and tip for above. Served 4 people no problem.

It was average Indian food. For the price, the portions could definitely be better considering the other restaurants in the area which offer the same if not better food with larger portions for lesser price. I would not mind paying the higher price had it been better than other North Indian restaurants but surprisingly it isn t ( I thought it would be factoring in the higher price point). I m sure they have a clientele they cater to. Anywho, good luck!

Cumin has great Indian food. They have a good variety to try from. Some spicy, some not. All delicious. Would definitely recommend. Vegetarian options: You cam definitely get excellent vegetarian dishes here. Parking: You can find street parking on the Danforth but there arent a lot of spots.

Only had apps, but the Momos are to die for!! We will be back.

Nice food

Devastated this place is temporarily closed its become a staple to the neighborhood. Wonderful staff and delicious food. Very hopeful it will reopen shortly because it is certainly missed by many.

Why did you close ?

I love the restaurant but I wish I didn t drive all the way there to find out it was closed until further notice. Neither here nor the website informed this. It was frustrating. Time, gas and parking resources wasted in vain.

Rude staff. I went to pick up my order and the front staff thought i was from doordash and rudely pointed me to stand in a corner. When i mentioned im not from any delivery service, it was then they acted normal. By the way, food was absolutely mediocre. There are better places to spend your money.

This local gem has re-opened, and it s as great as ever! We went in for lunch (which was super quiet if you want a socially distanced dining option), and had a lovely experience. Recommend the Mulligatawny soup and the potato fritters from appetizer menu. Service was perfect - just enough attentiveness with lots of space given, and they accommodated my dairy restrictions! Glad to see them back in action

I went here today on my lunch break for the first time. The wait staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I ended up ordering butter chicken and basmati rice. The portion size was extremely generous and it tasted delicious.

Everything aside, some of the staff are racist despite being Indian themselves. If you dont consider all the people coming in equal, you should not be in the food serving business. I was waiting for a takeout and while my food was there right in front, they were busy serving others (one even came after me) and just ignored me!!

Parking: Plenty of street parking near the place

Apparently being open till 9:45 means your chefs went home at 9 because it was busy during the day. Edit: It is easy to play the victim in such a circumstance and we appreciate that the food service industry isnt easy to work in. That being said we also drove over 30 minutes to the restaurant and given the time missed the opportunity to eat elsewhere. A customer service gesture like providing the managers card for the next time or providing something to make up for our time would have been more meaningful than sorry but hope to see you again

Amazing Indian food! The vibes were nice, love how the restaurant is decorated and it has a section to sit down or a bar if you just want to get drinks. This would also be a great spot for larger groups. The food was SO delicious and portion sizes were large enough that we got to take some home. My friend and I got the tandoori chicken, lamp roganjosh (lamp in a yummy sauce), basmati rice and garlic naan. Oh and we also got a appetizer which was the onion bhaji. Everything was 10/10 and what I love is you can share everything. One of the staff was even saying thats how its meant to be with Indian food. Speaking of the staff were great; we asked questions about things on the menu which they were happy to answer and helped me choose between some things I was debating about. The only downside is parking, it is paid street parking or there is a paid parking area nearby as well. But dont let that stop you, I highly recommend!

A wonderful and refreshingly calming experience. Spice and seasoning are balanced in a way that has a sweet undertone so you dont feel assaulted by powerful overwhelming heat. Vegetarian dishes incorporated fresh ingredients satisfying the most sensitive palate at our table. Presentation is fresh, clean and simple to match the decor and spa like ambiance of the restaurant. It was my first experience with Indian food, and it was a very pleasant one. The owner was so welcoming and friendly, taught us how to eat in an Indian style. The naan bread was a marvel, both garlic and vegetable one. Goat curry was a beautiful treat, and spiced reasonably, just the perfect amount for me. The desserts deserve a separate praise, they are out of this world! Genuinely recommend and will myself come back to explore the depths of Indian cuisine more!

We had a wonderful experience at Cumin Kitchen Indian restaurant (1820 Danforth Ave) tonight. My older son is anaphylactic to dairy, egg, coconut, peanut, and sesame. We don t eat out often because we re nervous about him having an allergic reaction. The gentleman I spoke to when ordering food for takeout was incredibly kind and helpful. He shared that his son has nut allergies so he can understand the fears we have. We were able to order a good variety of food for my son and my son was thrilled. The food was absolutely delicious and it was a treat not to have to worry about an allergic reaction! We highly recommend it and will definitely be going back!

Food is amazing and fairly priced. Atmosphere and service was also outstanding.

The manager definitely cares about his customers. There was an issue with our bill, and he was happy to resolve it for us. Delicious food at a great price. It does get very busy on the weekend so expect to wait. Otherwise, go on a weekday.

Best indian restaurant on the East End of Toronto! We have dined in, done pick-up and ordered off of the official website for delivery and the food is amazing every single time.This is the ONLY Indian restaurant that we will eat at and order from. Our favourite dishes are the goat vindaloo, dahl tarka and the lamb marsala.

My favourite restaurant and definitely worth the drive from Woodbridge!! Food and service never disappoint. Everything I have tried is excellent but Butter Chicken is my absolute favourite. Naan bread is delicous. We always get take out before we leave for next day and food tastes just as good. We have yet to bring family or friends that dont love it as much as us.

After long search for a fine Indian restaurant, we found Cumin Kitchen. This was our first time and we are amazed with the customer service, taste, quantity and ofcourse the ambience. They maintained the place very clean and attractive. Waitress who took care of us was up-to the mark and we are happy about it. It was our first time trying Tandoori Mushroom and we were little hesitant to order it but after tried we realized that we were wrong. I definitely would recommend this place if anyone wants to try good food and get good vibes.

One of the best Indian restaurants in Toronto. Every dish we have tried is delicious but they have the best Dal Makhani. The spice level is perfect as well. The restaurant has seating arrangements for both small and large groups and the the staff provides great service.

I have to say that this has to be the best Indian restaurant I ve ever experienced before. The customer service was excellent, and the food was really amazing as well. This isn t your average Indian cuisine. If you are ever in the area you should stop by Cumin Kitchen for some delicious food.

Very bad experience. Ordered Dal Tadka and chicken curry for delivery. Received plain yellow Dal. Chicken curry quantity was very less for the price. When I called, they argued with me saying that thats how dal tadka is. Never ordering from here again.

I was part part of a large group. We. Ordered a variety of dishes we all shared. Everything was delicious. Seriously delicious. Service was fantastic. Ill go back soon. I usually only have Indian food a few times a year, so no expert but it will be more often at Cumin.
