Toronto’s highly awaited DaNico has opened its doors in the historic landmark bank building in the heart of the Palmerston-Little Italy neighbourhood. Created by hospitality giants Liberty Entertainment Group and Don Alfonso 1890, DaNico offers Michelin style cuisine, exceptional service and uniquely bespoke design.
We recently celebrated our 8th anniversary at DaNico, opting for the tasting menu, and the experience was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, everything felt thoughtfully curated and elevated. A special mention goes to Graham, our server, who truly made the evening unforgettable. Not only was he incredibly engaging and knowledgeable, but he also went above and beyond by giving us a behind-the-scenes tour of the kitchen and the restaurant and gave us a personal note card for our milestone! His recommendations were spot-on, and his warm demeanor added a personal touch to the evening. The highlight, of course, was meeting the star himself, Chef Daniele Corona. It was an honor to meet the creative mind behind such a wonderful culinary masterpiece. Every dish in the tasting menu felt like a work of art, crafted with passion and precision. DaNico is more than just a restaurant; it’s an experience. We couldn’t have asked for a better way to celebrate our special day. Highly recommend for anyone seeking extraordinary cuisine paired with exceptional service.
We had an unforgettable birthday dinner for my best friend at Da Nico, and it was truly an amazing experience! The presentation of each dish was stunning, and the service was absolutely top-notch, definitely Michelin star-worthy. We went with the tasting menu, and it was the perfect way to enjoy the best dishes from Chef Daniele. Each course was a masterpiece, showcasing incredible flavors and creativity. A special shoutout to Marco, who went above and beyond to take care of us throughout the evening. His attention to detail and friendly demeanor made the night even more special. However, I do want to share one point of feedback. I had booked a bar table and arrived at 5:10 PM, asking if there was any dining table available. They said no, which was understandable at the time. But by the time we finished our dinner, there were still two dining tables empty. Since I had an early reservation, I feel they could have accommodated us for a more comfortable experience at a dining table. (last picture I told) Despite this, the food and service were fantastic, and we left very satisfied. I’d still highly recommend Da Nico for anyone looking for a top-tier dining experience!
Have you ever tasted something so incredible that you couldn't respond to anyone, just needing to savor every bite in silence? That happened to us in DaNico. DaNico is an absolute gem. This was, hands down, one of the finest dining experiences I’ve had. Everything, from the food to the service, was thoughtfully curated to make the night memorable. The atmosphere was perfect—elegant yet cozy—and the hours flew by; we ended up spending almost three hours there without even realizing it. The servers, especially Naz, truly made the experience special. They were attentive, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about the menu. Naz guided us through the night’s options and made some incredible recommendations. On his suggestion, we went for the seasonal rare Alba white truffle substitute (with a little added cost), and it turned out to be one of the best choices we made. The truffle’s flavor was out of this world and brought the pasta to a whole new level. We also had the one without the white truffle and it just wasn’t the same. If you're looking for a remarkable fine dining experience, I can’t recommend DaNico enough. Every detail is so well thought out, and the service is on point. We’ll definitely be back!
This was an incredible dining experience. From the cocktails to the petit fours, everything was amazing. Our server Graham offered the best service. The attention to detail in each course as well as the glassware, dishes, utensils was clearly very well thought out. A wonderful way to celebrate our anniversary.
DaNico truly lives up to its Michelin rating. The signature tasting menu was exceptional—each dish crafted with quality and care. Even the dessert was unique and memorable. Service was impeccable, making the entire experience well worth it. Highly recommended!
Beautiful restaurant! We did the tasting menu and it was such a fun experience. We enjoyed almost all the dishes and I particularly liked that every dish came with its own "snack". Started off strong with the canapes and the crab salad was SO delicious. Not to mention beautiful.
This newly Michelin-starred Italian restaurant truly lives up to its reputation! The food presentation was stunning, and the choice of serving wear added an extra touch of elegance to the experience. The signature menu offers a wide selection, with something for every taste. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making the whole experience feel like a trip to Rome itself. Highly recommended for anyone looking for an authentic Italian dining experience!
Toronto’s finest dining! Chef Daniele Corona is an inspired genius, worthy of his Michelin Star. Subtle rich flavors in every dish, masterpiece plating, flawless warm hospitality. Celebration of Bruce’s 74th birthday. We live blocks away, spotted it on opening night. Sheer brilliant . Highest recommendation!
This place is absolutely amazing! The atmosphere is perfect, the music is great, and the food is incredibly delicious. Jessica, our server, truly made the experience unforgettable. She s the best super friendly, funny, and spot-on with her suggestions. Highly recommend visiting!
Impeccable service and excellent food!
Impeccable restaurant. Delicious beautifully served food. Professional friendly service and a vet engaged and friendly sommelier. Best dining in Toronto .at a price. Well worth it.
I have no words to explain what I just experienced here. If not the best italiano cuisines. Do visit Food
I was really looking forward to dining at DaNico, especially with its Michelin star recognition, but unfortunately, my experience didn t live up to expectations. The decor leaned more on the quirky side, which some may find charming, but I found it slightly tacky for a fine dining establishment. However, my main concerns were with the quality of the food and service. One moment that stood out was when a waiter placed my dish on the table. His hand slipped, causing some of the food to slide off the plate. Instead of apologizing or offering to replace it, he casually flipped it back onto the plate and served it as if nothing had happened. It was an awkward and surprising moment that detracted from the overall experience. The food itself was decent but fell short of what I d expect from a restaurant of this caliber. For the price, I hoped for more refinement and attention to detail. While the meal wasn t terrible, it certainly didn t feel like a Michelin star experience. I left feeling underwhelmed and certain that I would not return.
Gorgeous restaurant... Loved everything end to end. Excellent tasting menu and phenomenal service.
Food and service was impeccable. Beautiful plating. Accommodating for people with allergies. On a busy Saturday night, chef Daniele took time to say hello and interact with his diners. His care and professionalism translates into his food, his service providers and his wine choices. 100% recommend.
It is one of the most memorable michelin one-star restaurants in Toronto for daily dining. Quezsal across the street would be another one. Other one-stars are less likely for daily but more special occasions.
Wonderful experience and great food.
Incredible experience at one of the top restaurants in Toronto. The atmosphere is amazing, Mirko and the rest of the staff were exceptional!! Every single dish was so tasty and delicious.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at the Michelin-starred Danico, and it was an unforgettable experience. We thoroughly enjoyed the venison with chestnut puree absolutely delicious, and the truffle pasta was cooked to perfection. For dessert, the strawberry panna cotta was smooth, airy, and just the right amount of sweetness. Our waiter, Mirko, a native Italian, really elevated our experience with his warm and friendly service. I celebrated my birthday there, and they made it extra special by gifting me a birthday card and a wine cork! The entire experience was top-notch. Highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for incredible food and a memorable dining experience!
Went here for my partners birthday and it was amazing. Top restaurant in Toronto. Incredible food, and EXCELLENT service - they take such good care of you. And the bowls were so artistic!!
$500 plus for two, for fix price stuck waiting 45 minutes for second course - total face plant and the chef doesn t have the nuts to come to the table while he walks the floor swooning - complete loser. Save your money and your time - total fail
Amazing service and amazing food. Ask to be seated in Jessica s section, she was lovely and made the experience all the more enjoyable. Bravo to the chef, this is an incredible place. The food was fresh, creative, and plentiful.
Wednesday night and all tables were occupied over time. They sat our group at a high traffic area which was distracting and destroyed the ambience. When we asked, they moved us to our requested table and the experience was far better. Food was like any fine dining resto; appetizers were the highlight with pleasant surprises and the mains were as expected. Dessert was also as expected. Service was decent for a michelin star. But they can be more attentive.
Food was amazing ! Highly recommend eating here. Dishes are presented beautifully as well.
Outstanding food and atmosphere! The service staff were warm, attentive and professional. House made bread was amazing. The tasting menu showcased chefs Italian roots and flavours elevated to a global stage that anyone could enjoy!
Everything was delicious
This is bar far the most beautiful restaurant I have ever been to. Everything is excellent! A fantastic experience. Trust me, I have been to a few high end restaurants and this is awesome. Food
What a treat this establishment is. We received polished service from Naz accompanied by knowledgeable wine recommendations from the sommelier. The pace of meals was excellent and not rushed. Took about 2.5hrs to complete. On the pricey side but in line with the Toronto narrative.
Honestly this was a waste of money and time. It was a bit of a joke.
Visited over the weekend, great atmosphere, beautiful design of plates food itself not Michelin level
What stands out first about DaNico is the atmosphere. Beautiful wooden doors open up to a vast space with 30ft ceilings, beautiful decorations (though my seat could have been more comfortable), and an ambience that is sophisticated and unpretentious. My partner and I came for our anniversary and opted for the signature tasting menu, which we highly recommend. Each course was beautifully plated with flavors to match. Our favorite dishes included the duck, wagyu, and fish. The only slight miss for us was the cod fritters included in the first dish. What really surprised us about the meal however was 1) the dessert and 2) the wine pairing which we also recommend. The strawberry panna cotta was one of those bites that leaves you a bit speechless wondering how on earth they created that... This is all to say Id give DaNico 5 stars across the board, and am excited to see what Chef Corona creates the next time we go. We live in NYC but it may be worth the trip.
I found DaNico in Toronto via a google search of amazing restaurants and was blown away by the ambiance, food, service and overall experience. From the moment you step inside, you re greeted by a warm Buonasera and the ambiance is simply perfection: soft lighting, tastefully understated decor, and a cozy yet sophisticated vibe that makes every table feel intimate and special The service at Danico is impeccable, the team has a genuine passion for Italian cuisine which becomes clear when they meticulously describe each course. My server was from Roma, Italy and he made me feel both like family and a special guest. He also introduced me to the Chef, Daniele, who found the time to chat a bit about his culinary passion. And the food...Every dish is a celebration of bold, fresh flavors and traditional Italian techniques. The Spaghettoni ai Funghi is handmade and perfectly al dente, with sauces that are beautifully balanced and bursting with flavor. I had the signature tasting menu with some slight changes because of dietary restrictions and every single plate hit hard!! My favorites were the Granchio Al Gusto (Crab), Spaghettoni ai Funghi and the Lobster but everything is delicious. This was my first time in Toronto and I m glad I chose DaNico for my first meal in the city. I highly recommend.
What an unreal experience at a Michelin star restaurant truly culinary art at its finest. This was everything fine dining should be about: impeccable service, an elegant atmosphere, and unforgettable food. Our waiter, Naz, was outstanding and made my wife s birthday feel extra special. The best part? They catered perfectly to our halal dietary preferences, which was a huge plus. The menu was beautifully curated, and my personal favorites were the wagyu beef and the egg dish. And I can t forget to mention the bread so fresh, paired with their incredible butter and olive oil. Just an amazing night all around. Thanks for making the bday experience unforgettable!
Had the most incredible time at DaNico! Truly the most memorable dining experience I ve ever had, and getting to meet (& thank!) Chef Daniele was next level. Toronto is so lucky to have him. Best dining experience, with special thanks to Marco for being so generous with his time and knowledge.
Had an great experience celebrating my birthday with my girlfriend at DaNico. The tasting menu and drinks were all amazing. The waiters were very pleasant to talk to and the overall service was top notch. Definitely lived up to my expectations.
The best restaurant experience I have ever had. Their attention to detail is unmatched! We will definitely be back!!
Amazing. Highly recommend to anyone for a high quality experience.
I came to DaNico with my partner to celebrate my birthday and we couldn t have asked for a better experience. From the beginning, the staff was so attentive to our every need and we felt very well taken care of. Our waiter Graham was exceptional in his knowledge, friendliness and so attentive to our needs. We did the signature tasting menu which was incredible and well worth the price. The quality of the ingredients of each dish and their intricacy really spoke to the genius of chef Daniele, who came personally to serve us for a special dish which was such a special touch! There s nothing we could complain about. 10/10 food, service and ambiance. Thanks DaNico for making my birthday extra special
Incredible food and service. Probably top in Toronto. Had the prefix menu with wine pairing and did not regret one bit my decision. Everything was perfect, food, wine selection, service, and ambiance.
Absolutely phenomenal dining experience. Our server, Graham, was incredibly attentive and friendly, making sure we had everything we needed and made great conversation. Ashleigh also contributed to our wonderful dining experience. Both made our visit memorable. Highly recommend this restaurant! The tasting menu was an absolute delight! Each dish was a beautiful blend of flavors and artistry. Every bite was a new experience that left us craving more. Cant wait to be back
One of the top culinary experiences in Toronto!
This is not a cheap restaurant, but I must say that the quality matches the price. Both the food and wine pairings are exceptional. The wine pairing, in particular, stands out it complements the dishes so well that it could be a textbook example of great pairing. The menu is very interesting, and the ambiance is quite dim. However, the menu is backlit, almost like a small screen, which makes it easy to read. It s a thoughtful touch. What left a lasting impression on me was the pre-meal bread it was especially delicious. The bread had a rich, slightly oily texture, but when dipped in olive oil and butter, it didn t feel greasy at all. Instead, it highlighted the natural fragrance of the flour. The black cod was marinated in miso, prepared with a Japanese twist. The sweet miso sauce beautifully complemented the freshness of the cod. Overall, the flavors were good, and there were no significant missteps with the dishes. However, the service could use some improvement. First, we were seated for about 30 minutes before we had to ask for the menu ourselves. Even then, they forgot to give us the wine list. Additionally, the restroom wasn t clean the toilet seemed to have issues as it was left unflushed each time I went in. Dietary restrictions: Do accommodate dietary restrictions Parking: Green p nearby
We were a party of six and on my OpenTable booking I made sure the restaurant was aware of our allergies and intolerances, two of which were severe. The day before I was called by the restaurant to confirm the allergies as well as advising us that the kitchen will do their very best to avoid cross contamination. Upon arrival at the restaurant we were asked again if anyone had any allergies etc. which was surprising. When the 3rd course arrived we were shocked that one of the dishes contained mushrooms, which luckily was seen before our friend took her first bite. It was replaced but we were very shocked of this screw up and quite frankly for a Michelin Star restaurant this should not happen. The food was beautifully presented and was good but I wouldn t rate it as outstanding compared to the many Michelin restaurants that I have been to. Our main server was very attentive but some of the other servers need to be better trained. All in all we had a nice evening but we won t be back!
We had a spectacular dinner! It was our anniversary--and it was made extra special by the staff at DaNico! Graham and his assistant, Ashley, were outstanding!! The service was impeccable! We cant wait to return!!
Da Nico absolutely nailed it for my girlfriend s birthday celebration! She s been in Canada for just 7 months , so I wanted to give her a night to remember and this spot totally delivered. From the moment we walked in, the intimate vibe hit just right. The music created a perfect atmosphere, loud enough to feel alive, but quiet enough that you could actually talk without overhearing your neighbors conversations. The food? Oh my, let s talk about the food. Each dish felt like it had been designed to wow, from the careful plating to the incredible flavors. You could feel the chef s passion and attention to detail in every bite. From what we ve had, I think cod was my absolute favorite. And the staff seriously the best. So attentive, always there when you needed them but never hovering. Hand written Birthday Note added a special touch. And shoutout to Vlad, the bartender! He s Ukrainian , which made the night even more special for us Ukrainians:) It s those little connections that turn a great evening into something unforgettable. Oh, and let me tell you when people rave about the bathroom, they re not kidding! It s like a secret hidden gem, almost as impressive as the food. If you ve got a special occasion coming up, or just want to treat yourself, Da Nico is the place. Can t recommend it enough!
I recently celebrated my birthday with a party of four over Thanksgiving weekend and chose the $150 per person set menu. The restaurant had a pleasant ambiance, with well-balanced lighting and appropriately leveled music. However, the service didn t meet the level of quality we expected from a Michelin-caliber establishment. Cons: The booth seating was uncomfortable, with the seats a little low which made the table too high, making it feel we were short of being comfortable. While the servers were prompt, their presence in dropping off dishes often felt abrupt, causing us to pause our conversations when they approached. The synchronized delivery of dishes felt awkward at times. One server would stand and wait by one side of the table for another server to arrive to the other side, making the interaction uncomfortable as we would be unsure of what was happening. Our conversations were frequently interrupted by the abrupt explanations of each dish, which could have been delivered more smoothly and approachable. Communication varied among the servers. Some had strong accents, making it hard to understand the details of certain dishes. There was no guidance on how to approach some of the courses, leaving us unsure whether to combine certain sides or eat them separately. Our main server didn t check in with us often, so we had to rely on other servers for ordering and questions. Menu Suggestions: For the secondi, we were recommended the miso cod, lobster, or wagyu. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THE WAGYU. It had a slight gamey flavor and tasted exactly like a hot dog outside of Rebel nightclub at 3am - this dish lacked the tender, buttery texture we are used to. The miso cod and lobster were FAR superior - highly recommend the lobster! The sake cocktail was well-made and enjoyable - light in alcohol flavour & refreshing My friends didn t enjoy the Forget Me Not and Danico Spritz cocktails, which had a licorice-like taste, reminiscent of cough syrup (as per her feedback) We weren t offered a tour of the restaurant, which other reviewers seem to have received (perhaps maybe it s our party? who knows) so there seems to be a disconnect with consistency of service The flow of service felt hasty, as if the evening staff was either short-handed or included some inexperienced members Pros: The servers were friendly and professional despite the uncoordinated teamwork of service we encountered. The plating was beautiful and artistic, with dishes presented elegantly. The food was tasty, beautiful and fun overall Our server handled the return of the wagyu graciously, and we appreciated how smoothly the situation was resolved The restaurant presented a beautiful birthday card and gift, which added a thoughtful touch to the evening. In conclusion, while the experience was enjoyable, it s not one I would enthusiastically recommend or suggest others seek out. That said, my standards for dining and service are more critical than the average diner s for fine dining.
Amazing meal. Great food and service
Not that impressed considering it has a Michelin Star. Our server was great but the Sommelier had no experience whatsoever. Food was good but something was lacking. Ambience not that great so no desire to return here
Amazing food amazing service
I m a huge lover of authenticity in pasta preparation. This place is world class. The service is impeccable. Highly recommend for a rare Michelin Star class restaurant in Toronto.
I can only say great things about this lovely restaurant. The service is professional without a hint of pretension. The restaurant itself is gorgeous, and the noise level and lighting are just right. And the food! We were a group of six and all ordered from the a la carte menu. Every dish was a unique experience enjoyed to the fullest. What a memorable evening!
Everything we had was amazing and the service was wonderful!
I was really happy with the spectacular service from server Ashleigh and delightful food at Danico.
What a beautiful setting, the service was spot on and personable, the food was very creative in taste and presentation top level. A place for a special occasion or night out. On the pricier side so be prepared but worth the experience. Oh and the dessert was perfect at the end, complimentary.
Had a fantastic time at DaNico and loved the lobster. We opted for the a la carte menu so we could try all new dishes and it did not disappoint! The a la carte menu still comes with appetizers (bread service, Italy in a bite) and desserts ! My favourite item of the night was definitely the lobster - it was cooked to perfection and the accompanying sauce was so refreshing. The claw was also deep fried (tempura style) and had a sweet sauce on the side. We left with our stomachs full and extra macarons to take home! The -1 star was for the pace - it felt very rushed in the beginning where appetizers were coming and dishes were taken away while we were still eating. After the appetizers it was a good pace! Overall had a fantastic time - we were there for a birthday and we left with an extra little gift from the restaurant - so thoughtful!
Beautiful dining experience! Everything was delicious from start to finish. A tasting menu that doesn t leave you hungry, that s for sure. The staff were all so sweet and attentive. Highly recommend to celebrate a special occasion.
I had an amazing experience thanks to Nazar my waiter! And the staff & chefs at Danico the food was amazing! 10/10 , Nazar made it an obvious choice with all of his great recommendations! made my experience very memorable from start to finish! Every dish was delicious & The decor in this place is top notch as well very beautiful! Great atmosphere food & staff!
Good arrangement for tasting menu . atmosphere is nice. The only suggestion is the spaghetti dish, it is too salty.
Went to dinner here two nights ago to celebrate my husbands birthday and I still cant stop thinking about the experience. From the minute we walked in the door the level of service we experienced was second to none. The menu was thoughtfully explained (we chose the à la carte menu), suggestions made and our order placed. The food was phenomenal! The presentation, quality and taste were just fantastic and the great service continued. Our server, Graham, and his team took exceptional care of us. Would definitely recommend for a special date night or special occasion. Its definitely not your every day kind of place.
Absolutely one of the best dining experiences I have had! The dishes were all very interesting and the servers did a great job of explaining everything as well helping us chose our meal options. If your looking for a unique dining experience in an amazing venue this is the place!
When this place inevitably wins its Michelin star(s) someday, it will be an entirely deserving designation. DaNico offers an inventive, versatile and thoroughly delicious menu, and an elegant and pleasant dining experience. An impeccable restaurant that only a handful of spots in Toronto can be compared to.
Amazing and delicious fine cuisine.
Amazing birthday experience! The service was impeccable, and each dish was thoughtfully crafted. While the pacing was a bit fast initially, the staff adjusted perfectly once we mentioned it. The atmosphere was lovely throughout.
Ill start by saying that the two servers that were tending to me at the bar were wonderful. Very attentive and passionate. And the front of house where very accommodating for letting me show up early from my reservation. I did make a reservation at the bar, and I didnt know that the bar seats basically had no back support at all, and Id have to deal with that for 90 minutes. The restaurant was empty, except for 3 tables when I arrived, I asked if I could sit at a table instead, And I was told there was reservations for all the table and it would not be possible for me to finish my meal before the other guests arrived. Low and behold, there was still 6 empty tables that remained empty during my entire meal by the time I left. I find it quite unfortunate that they could not have let me sit at a table given the completely empty restaurant. Now the crux of the two star review. The food was not good. Every single dish the flavours were off. The only good dish was a pasta with tomato sauce, with parmesan foam. Everything else lacked cohesiveness in the flavors, was too heavy or lacked flavor completely. For $250 per person spent, I would expect something phenomenal. Im sorry to say, I would have enjoyed my food and drinks much more at Terronni. Save yourself the regretful expense. Go to Terronni, Ardo, Dova, Tuilia, Nodo... Or any other decent Italian restaurant in Toronto. The food will actually be good and the price will be reasonable. Theres nothing worse than going out on the weekend to enjoy a nice meal, and leave feeling like you got swindled.
I dont like the show here. The staff are pretending their accent. Their information about the food is actually very little when I asked to explain the dishes. My glass was always empty and i had to ask for refills. The service I would say is below average and the food is above average. Would I come back? I dont know. Its not terribly overpriced. I demand better service instead of investing in the show.
One of my favourite tasting menu restaurants in the city!
First class food and service. They are not particular about attire but if you are ok with sitting next to a table where they are dressed in a tee shirt and shorts then this is the spot for you. The staff was on top of us the whole night and all tables were full at the restaurant. We had the 7 course tasting menu which was delicious.
Beautiful venue and excellent service. We had the tasting menu. However, I wish food was not that salty and the rich sauce used in moderation. The presentation of plates was excellent. Its a place perfect for date night. We had an enjoyable experience.
Amazing place, great service, exquisite food and presentation. The team was friendly and professional at the same time, were very authentic and true to the cuisine. We had an absolute blast at this very romantic, intimate, beautiful restaurant. Highly recommended !!
What an absolutely delightful experience we had here! Definitely one of the most memorable tasting menus, with Italian flavors at the forefront. The presentation of every food was remarkable, and they were served in unique dishes matching the theme of each food. Service was amazing, especially Mirko who was so kind, and in the end toured us around the restaurant! We were celebrating something so he gave us a memorable gift as well :) Can t recommend this place enough, you re in for a treat.
Wow. That was a culinary experience like no other. The staff are incredible.
I went there to celebrate a birthday and we had the tasting menu and it was very well executed, plated and creative! The tasting menu lights up, need I say more?!? Servers and staff are gracious and attentive but I would expect no less for a place like this!
I wanted to treat my sister and her husband to a special night out. A good friend recommended DaNico and specifically Chef Daniele, promising me it will be a night to remember. He was 100% correct and I cant say enough good things about our experience. My sister was unfortunately delayed for over an hour but the staff were so understanding and accommodating, always ensuring I felt completely comfortable while waiting. Our server, Mirko, was top shelf, a true professional with a vault of knowledge and meticulously took care of all our needs, including a tour of the restaurant and a quick meeting with Chef Daniele, whose attention to detail is extraordinary. The food was exceptional with amazing flavours and very satisfying. Thank you for a wonderful experience and making my sister feel special. Well definitely be back!
Definitely a memorable experience. Beautiful inside & out, including the bathroom. Very attentive service. Very nicely presented food, & very tasty and interesting. Every dish is worth photographing. Well be back!
Easily top 5 in Toronto the food is amazing, couldn t get enough of the house bread :)
A great experience! The tasting menu is varied and delicious. The best was the dessert surprise. It is good for a date night or a group get together for a special occasion.
Everything was stellar: the food, service (shout out to Graham!), sommelier, decor, EVERYTHING! Great place for a date or special occasion. Dietary restrictions: Very flexible on accommodating dietary restrictions.
Outstanding!
Great location and vibe in the space. Some of the most hospitable front of the house staff in Toronto. Charming, sweet and memorable service. Sadly I can t say the same about most of the dishes. It felt like something was always missing or not particularly impressive. Found myself feeling more impressed by their dish ware than the actual dish it housed. The cod was fine and tuna tartare was okay and pretty minced down compared to what I ve seen other diners share. The most disappointing was probably the ziti that was so undercooked that calling it al dente was a bit of a shame. Such a simple dish needs near perfect execution for it to stand out and let s just say I could have done this one at home. Otherwise delicious drinks and lovely service.
Beautiful corporate dinner with large group
Simply sensational. Gorgeous atmosphere. Superlative service. Every dish was beautiful to behold and delicious. Terrific wine list as well at very reasonable prices.
We came for my birthday and did the tasting menu with one premium wine pairing. The atmosphere and service was impeccable. This place puts so much attention to detail especially with each of the plates that they use which was absolutely beautiful presentation. On the tasting menu my favourite was the Anatra All Arancia which is the duck . This dish to me was cooked and plated absolutely perfectly the flavours were perfect and matched so well together along with the wine and orange juice in a ceramic duck foot container. Absolutely delicious and would for sure order this again My second favourite was the Granchio Al Gusto Mediterraneo which was absolutely beautiful, delicate and delicious. The presentation, colour and flavours of this crab dish is very fresh with green flavours. Just a beautifully curated dish Dont forget to get the strawberry Panna cotta dessert which gets served on a deflated pink balloon plate! Super cute and picture worthy Lastly dont forget to check out the bathroom as it is part of cashmere UltraLuxe bathroom guide and ranked 3 toilet rolls! Overall loved the resturant and experience
Excellent all around. Beautiful venue. A la carte menu delicious but smaller portions and wonderful presentation. Dietary restrictions: Accommodating.
Dining at DaNico was a memorable experience. The Michelin-starred chef from Naples, Italy, expertly fused Italian and Japanese cuisine, creating dishes with unique flavors and textures Ive never encountered before. The service was impeccable, with attentive staff making our birthday celebration feel extra special. The prix fixe menu offers a variety of courses, encouraging you to indulge in more than just one dish. Each course was thoughtfully presented and delicious, making the entire dining experience truly exceptional.
Amazing service and food.
What an experience! We celebrated my sisters bday with a intimate party of 12 (max amount of ppl for groups), we had 2 options to choose from which are a la carte $150/person or the tasting menu $225/person, we went with the a la carte (drinks and deserts not included). We were greeted with a customized menu option for each of our guests. Each dish was perfectly executed, I will say this place was the best fine dining meal Ive tasted in Canada. It is rare to have a whole group of friends dining together who all agreed every dish exceeded our expectations. I have added a pic of our menu options with my pics. Did I mention chef Daniele Corona is Michelin Star Chef (not guide or recommend but received a star). Thanks chef and the DaNico team for a wonderful experience, coming back soon!
A new gem was born in the heart of Toronto. DaNico has a unique, creative, stylish atmosphere and a priceless food experience. I went there a month ago, and I continue to get water in my mouth from all the food I eat. If you are a food lover and appreciate a great chef as I do, you cannot miss the opportunity to stop by and salute a great Italian chef like Daniele; the food is his Canva. I also dare you to try fresh coffee as a tradition in Italy after a meal from a beautiful masterpiece coffee machine.
One of the worst dining experiences I have had in the city, The food manages to be bland and oversalted at the same time. There are so many better restaurants in the city, AVOID.
Honestly the best restaurant in Toronto right now.
Just an amazing experience, highly recommended..
We visited DaNico for my birthday celebration and we were so pleasantly surprised. We began with a tour of the restaurant and wine vault (Ps: the art pieces alone are worth visiting for) we met the chef and kitchen team who prepared some artistically stunning dishes for us to enjoy! Jessica was so welcoming and attentive. Her level of hospitality and service was impeccable. The entire team worked together and made our dinner service flawless. The dishes were so colourful and the flavours were tantalizing. We began with some non-alcoholic cocktails and ended with some deeply rich Italian coffee. Every detail of this experience was well thought out and I am so grateful to have come across this place. I highly recommend it for a date night or celebration of any kind. Thank you DaNico for making my birthday celebration so very special!
Had a large piece of plastic in my very expensive diner.
Great room with awesome aesthetic. Excellent service. The food was pretty good. Nothing outstanding. Very much trying for the Michelin experience, but falls short. And at that price tag, there is a ton better in the city.
Wonderful ambience and outstanding food both in taste and presentation.
My experience at Danico was fascinating! The service, knowledge of staff, lighting, quality of food and cocktails were all perfect. Definitely an excellent spot for Italian fine dining experience!
I am lucky enough to dine at this establishment, because its gonna burn a hole in your wallet. Gladly the experience did not disappoint. If you like beautiful instagram worthy food, but also delicious, then this is for you. And I wasnt hungry afterwards and that is a relief . Maybe its the super yummy moist bread they serve you at the beginning, but we were stuffed at the end of the experience. That being said, we did order the $250 dollars tasting menu because its my partners birthday. I cant say enough about the presentation , I feel they should get at least a Michelin star because I been to few Michelin rated restaurants in France and this is better than those experiences I had. You can see the photos and be your own judge. Only thing I didnt think was at the Michelin level is that I couldnt understand some of the description of the food because of accents. I think the servers may need a bit of training on that or change the music. The decoration is also a bit all inclusive resort feel, so that may just be me. We had a wonderful dinner and its lovely place to dine.
We will remember our meal at Danico for a very long time. I ve been fortunate to eat at some incredible places in my life and my meal here ranks up there with the best. And at $225, the tasting menu is actually very reasonably priced. Mirko our server was outstanding, friendly but not too friendly, and very warm and professional. His passion for the food he was serving was palpable. And everyone else were incredible as well. Such a nice feel to the place. Can t say enough about it. Lastly, the bar program is exceptional, which is not always the case at an Italian restaurant. You will not be disappointed.
Nestled within the historic walls of what was once a bank, this hidden gem exudes an air of refined elegance and magic. From the moment you enter, youre transported to a world where every detail, from the decor to the dishes, is carefully curated to perfection. Speaking of dishes, each one is a masterpiece in its own right. Spectacular, tasty, refined, and endlessly creative, they dance on your palate, leaving you utterly enchanted. Its a culinary journey like no other, where every bite is a celebration of flavor and innovation. And lets not forget the impeccable service. Our waiter, Graham, was the epitome of hospitality, embodying warmth and professionalism with every interaction. His knowledge and passion for the menu only added to the overall experience, making our visit truly unforgettable. Danico is more than just a restaurant; its an experience. A place where memories are made, and every visit leaves you longing for more. If youre searching for a dining destination that transcends the ordinary, look no further. Danico awaits, ready to whisk you away on a journey of taste and delight.
We were so excited to go to this place. Our expectations were super high and we could not wait to try the food. The food did not disappoint. It was amazing! Each course was just the right size and delicious. Normally this would have been a 5 star experience and it started out as such but unfortunately fell off. The first thing we did not like was that I chose a bottle of wine I love, my choice was described by the staff as barnyard. This was a little off-putting. But the wine was amazing. I understand this was an attempt at upselling. But we know what we like. As I said above the food was amazing and it was. But as the night went on the service started to decline as the restaurant filled up. We waited a long time for the waiter to return to order dessert and ordered from another staff member. Our digestives arrived but no dessert. We continued to wait. The rating fell from a 5 star to a 3 star when we asked about the timing of the desserts we were told one had to be baked to order but arrived cold. The rating moved up to 4 stars when the coffee arrived exactly with the dessert as it should and had a biscotti included and the lovely Ashley who was amazing and so nice and professional. It really is the little things that make a meal. Unfortunately it could not erase the amount of time we waited and waited for dessert service and to pay our bill and the dissing of our wine selection. Also your bathroom is really pretty.
Came here for my birthday celebration and I was blown away. I sadly cannot remember the name of my server but he had a beard and a soft soothing voice ( he would know if he was to read this) , he knew exactly what we needed and even gave us a tour of the vault /wine room and was so knowledgeable about the establishment. The a la carte recommendations were spot on and mouth watering, the cocktails were delicious. Our server made my birthday very memorable. The bathroom is also beautiful. I would highly recommend this restaurant and if you re lucky you ll get the same server for a 5 star experience.
Our Valentines dinner at DaNico was just an absolutely amazing experience with the help of Jaclyn who had gone above and beyond to provide us with reservations last minute and that on Valentines Day which is next to impossible! Jaclyn had made the experience for us a memorable one with a chauffeur driven Rolls Royce to pick us up for dinner at DaNico and also on our return home which was just the perfect touch! It was a Valentines we can never forget thanks to the team at DaNico especially Nazar who provided us with a beautiful 8 course dinner made by Michelin star chef Danielle, each dish was tastefully paired with a fine wine to end the night off with the most elegant desserts. I could not recommend it more, truly after the Rolls Royce experience I don t think I d ever have a date night without it! Jaclyn is the one and only person you need to make every experience a memorable one no matter the venue!!!
Absolutely amazing experience, highly recommended
Magnificent attention, they did everything possible to speak to us in Spanish very friendly, I return to this rest and I met the chef charming!!!!
Had an amazing experience dining here and selecting dishes off the a la cart menu. Jessica was very knowledgeable and professional and definitely made our dining more enjoyable.
Sweetest staff, so thoughtful and knowledgeable. Perfect experience. Food was bursting with flavour, The duck breast was perfectly cooked. Lamb ravioli. Magic. 9/10 (always gotta save your 10) thank you for having me.
Embarrassing for the staff. The spilt a drink all over my friend. It got in her hair, all over her fur coat, on her dress, the chair, and her satin shoes and her Hermes bag! They completely spoiled the night for her! This happened right at the beginning of the dinner so she kept her cool and wiped down her outfit. A little splash even for on me (sitting next to her) But definitely appalling to see the staff make no efforts in reprimanding the situation. They offered her to dry clean her jacket. That is all. We understand accidents happen, which is why she was polite and calm. But how disappointing that the restaurant didn t work harder to take care of us. The food was actually good but service needs help. On top of that, it literally took 3hrs. She was actually really upset.
Amazing food would go again, a pure delicacy, if you havent eaten there please go, worth every penny.
I enjoyed it a lot! The tomato and monk fish cirgar looking one were soo good! The femal sommelier was such a spectacular, and server Mirko was professional :)
The attention to detail is superb. The food is equal parts delicious and artistic. The ambience is elevated warmth. A beautiful experience.
While their signature tasting menu ($225) looks Italian on paper, what arrives turns more Asian as the courses progress. Their bread service is completely European featuring crispy flatbread, fluffy focaccia, and brioche studded with blue cheese and salami. Paired with a dish of intensely flavoured olive oil and soft churned butter there s no mistaken the origins of these carbs. While the granchio al gusto Mediterrandeo has a Thai or Indian aesthetic in its presentation, the wild red king crab salad is Mediterranean in flavour with the tiny chunks of olives. Pretty to look at but not the tastiest: the crab was tough, and the edible lace decal had a bitter undertone. At least the dish paired well with the wine ($120 for the classic pairing). The anatra all arancia highlighted French influences. Even though the skin could be crispier, the slices of duck breast were so tender and cooked perfectly. Using star anise and cinnamon may seem strange for duck, but the spices complimented the citrus taste of the pickled endive and held up against the stronger meat. My recommendation is to save a piece of focaccia to polish off the foie gras foam (served in the duck foot vessel) and the fennel purée, these great sauces should not be wasted. Our table universally loved the spaghettoni ai funghi locali e tartufo nero and we were sad as three forkfuls was not enough. DaNico takes the high-end Pastificio dei Campi spaghetti, cooks it in mushroom broth, and finishes it with aged parmigiano Reggiano and black truffle shavings. For something cooked in broth I expected the pasta to be more flavourful. Perhaps, this would be even better made with a fresh pasta? This is a long review head to Gastro World for the rest.
Such a great place to enjoy your anniversary or date night! I visited with my friend but oh my god their service and food was exceptionally fantastic! We sat down in front of kitchen, it was really enjoyable to watch all kitchen staff were hard-working. Each plates were really unique and rare which I was so obsessed, and lots of fun parts to explore in the restaurant such as their coffee machine, wine cell and even washroom! End of the course the chef came out and asked how was the food, and even gave us few desserts and coffee on the house. I will def visit again before they became more famous!!
Wow what an experience, nothing like it in little Italy - if your seeking an amazing night out with your special someone or client and craving excellence, freshness & well balanced ambience DaNico is the place - fantastic!
I had a pleasure to dine in the new restaurant by Daniele Corona. Created with great love for food and fine dining, local ingredients and impeccable taste combinations. This Michelin style cuisine speaks for itself, introducing unique flavors. The service was welcoming and professional, thanks to our server Julian. It was a great pleasure having dinner at Danico, I hope it gets its very own Michelin star soon! Thanks again (@alistva)
Our party of 7 had the pleasure of dining at the Chef s table on the opening night! What an incredibly unforgettable experience with aesthetic plating, vibrant flavours, and the best culinary and hospitality team. Chef Daniele Corona s personality shines through his signature menu and DaNico is a must visit!
It is an excellent dining experience on its Chef Table Opening. Food are excellent, service is excellent. Love this place.
Magnificent! Absolutely delectable dishes, outstanding wine selection, fabulous dinner wear, welcoming atmosphere and perfect service! Brilliant, DaNico ! Food : 5/5
Food is Amazing, service is exceptional. So far I have had the best service of my life. Il Manzo is a must try option
Chef and team did a wonderful job executing this establishment. The dedication and commitment he has will no doubt earn this one a Michelin accolade as well
Theres a certain expectation already set when you walk in to the luscious interiors of a restaurant like DaNico and boy, are they surpassed. We were started off with a bread service which was impeccable to say the least followed by the amuse bouche to cleanse our palette, DIVINE again! We had the duck and the mackerel for appetizers which tasted fantastic. Followed up with the entrees for which we had the lamb tortellini and the truffle sphagettoni, my my, what a delight both the dishes were! For the mains we had the wagyu and the goat both of which were cooked to perfection and just when we thought this couldnt possibly get any better, the desserts arrived and man were they perfect. From the perfectly set strawberry panna cotta to the beautiful fig ice cream with the financier and the STAR vegan dessert with the chocolate and pina colada flavors along with the petit fours ooooof, we couldnt get enough!!!!! The wine pairings deserve a special shoutout as well! Chef Daniele and the pastry chef Nikhil Londhe came to see us after the meal and we were truly grateful for the magic they had curated for our tastebuds. We will be back WITHOUT A DOUBT!
DaNico is a pretty amazing dinning experience. The dishes were creative and very, very tasty. The service was impeccable, and our servers were knowledgeable about the origins, ingredients and preparation of each dish. The duck appetizer was scrumptious, and the lamb tortellini was perhaps the best I have tasted. The wagyu was done to perfection. Please save room for the deserts and pastries heavenly! The thought, detail and creative flare to the design of this restaurant really helped make DaNico a very special evening. From the artwork, to the fabric of the seats to the lighting - its clear the owners truly care as much about the dinning experience as they do about the kitchen - impressive on all fronts. I would place DaNico at the top of the must dine list.
Incredible dining experience at DaNico. It s only been open for a short time but already gone twice to try all the great dishes on their menu. The visual experience and attention to detail in the design of the restaurant is in itself a sensory overload. From the Versace tiles adorning the frame of the spectacular wooden entry doors, to the seemingly floating lighting treatments on the windows and the next level artistic touches in the washrooms all make this new restaurant a jewel in the Toronto culinary world. Each dish was unique and delicious from the duck starter, the Ontario lamb stuffed micro-tortellini and the Wagyu tenderloin just to name a few plus the array of sweets and desserts to finish. Service was on par for a Michelin style restaurant. This is a definite for your must dine list and a contender for a star or two in 2024!
I had a fantastic time at my new favourite modern Italian restaurant! The Ontario goat dish was a standout, super flavourful and cooked just right. The San Marzano tomato sauce paired with it was a perfect match, adding a nice tang. But what really got everyone at our table excited was the matcha tea tiramisu. It was a delightful twist on the classic dessert, and we all loved it. Overall, this restaurant serves up some seriously delicious Italian food immersed in cool design vibes! Don t forget to have a drink at the bar :)
If you live in, or are visiting Toronto, you have the rare opportunity to visit DaNico. This brand new Restaurant on the edge of Little Italy has brought a subtle yet powerful Italian flare for food, design and fashion to Toronto. Compliments to Nadia s Design. We were blown away by the boutique ambiance and delightful dishes. The space is very intimate and feels pleasantly exclusive. Chef Daniele Corona is a veritable Genius. I love Architecture and I love Culture. If you do .? Enjoy!
Came here to celebrate my birthday and had a wonderful time. We enjoyed the 7 course tasting with wine pairing. The pairings were very well done and we got to try some unique wines, some of them aged. The food was delicious, our favourites were the duck and lamb tortellini. The service was fantastic, well timed, and there was great attention to detail. The same level of experience as Don Alfonso. Overall, a great upscale restaurant to celebrate at.
Beyond the exquisite food, I had a marvelous experience at DaNico. The service is impeccable and warming. They take every single detail seriously with a smile on their faces. The atmosphere has a bit of drama with huge pictures on the wall and an art piece of Salvador Dalí. The food of Chef Danielle and his multicultural team is spectacular. Every dish was amazing, and it was impossible to choose the best one. I loved the Kama Toro Tuna, the Grancho, the Merluzzo, and the Spaghettoni. All deserts were to die and live for and blend perfectly with the rich and creamy espresso made on the antique coffee machine from Italy, closing the night perfectly.
Who knew the Scotiabank that I once knew would turn into such a beautiful restaurant We got the $225 set menu which is 6 courses Every course presentation was very stunning with a unique combination of ingredients and flavors My favorite was the bread with black garlic butter, king crab ceviche, the foie gras duck foot shot, lamb tortellini with fried eel bit, miso black cod and all the desserts. Service was absolutely amazing here. 10/10 This place is definitely not cheap but worth trying once for a special occasion Overall, I give this place an 8.5/10
An amazing dining experience! We got the signature tasting menu and we were very impressed with every dish. My favourites were the duck, wagyu beef, and the fish (i believe black cod). From the moment you step in, they ensure that you have the perfect dining experience. Service was top notch. The only thing was that the taste of the desserts didn t wow me like the rest of the dinner did, but it was still pretty amazing, especially the presentation. Highly recommend!
I recently had the pleasure of dining at DaNico and it was one of the best dining experiences Ive had in Toronto. From the moment we walked in to the moment we left, everything was perfect. The service was impeccable, the staff were friendly and knowledgeable about all the ingredients on the plate, and the sommelier was very helpful in selecting a wine that would complement both the red meat and seafood we were having. The timing of our meals was perfect, as soon as one round was cleared, the next would be ready to set down. The artistry in the plating and colors of the food was also so visually appealing, along with creative selection of plates. For our mains, we opted for the black cod and beef wagyu and were not disappointed. Both were cooked to perfection, not a second too long on the pan. The accompanying ingredients that complemented the main protein were also well-thought-out and executed. Overall, I was very impressed with the entire experience at DaNico, which is directly reflective of the Executive Chef Corona s Michelin level standard. For all the foodies and restaurant lovers out there, I highly recommend giving DaNico a try. Its a solid experience and one of the best dining experiences in Toronto.
One word. Phenomenal.
Amazing experience!!! Food and service are top notch. Finally, something different thats going to elevate Torontos food scene even more Food : 5/5
Just had an amazing dining experience at Danico with my girlfriends. From the beginning to the end, the hospitality team was exceptional, and the food was not only beautifully presented but also incredibly tasty. Highly recommend!
amazing food
Compliments to the chef and staff. A true fine dining experience.
Danico was true grace! Starting from the venue, wow! The team was incredible active and guided us through. Not to mention the food - Daniele Corona is such a talent chef and I could taste his skills from the dishes. We began the dinner with their caviar selection, for antipasti I had the Scampi and burrata to continue the Mediterranean entrance from caviar. (the apple and langoustine was surprising pairing flavors), for primi I enjoyed the ravioli stuffed with lamb and the smoked ell added a huge contrast to it. And finally main course was black cod on vermouth sauce! wow that was screaming good! For dessert I decided to go with their cheese selection which paired perfectly with nuts/ dates, beets bread and wild honey. Thank you Chef! Great job on the front house team, Valentina, Marco were spectacular and warm. It is not easy to establish and keep up the high maintenance of detailing and guide everyone to do so, but it shows the hard work! well done! Can not wait to be back in the near future. Grazie mille.
Our first visit to the restaurant to celebrate our 40th Wedding Anniversary. Very elegant surroundings with great service provided throughout our meal. We tried the signature tasting menu with 8 courses deliciously prepared. Chef Daniel visited our table to greet us. Service by Graham was 5 Star!! It was a great evening and we enjoyed our meal!! Vegetarian options: There is a menu with vegetarian options. Dietary restrictions: My husband does not eat red meats. There were substitutes available. They also ask if one has any allergies and other dietary restrictions so that it can be accommodated. Parking: Valet service is available. Friendly staff will greet you by the door which is on college street. There is a paid parking across the street it is the same price of valet service.
Easily my best overall best dining experience in Toronto! The food is beautifully presented, creative and delicious and the wine selection is great, but what really struck me about this restaurant were the ambience, the service, the attention to detail. From the moment you step in, you are transported to another place - I was in awe of the huge old wooden doors, the tiled wall, the height of the ceiling. Though the space is vast, it doesnt feel cold at all. Its beautifully designed and is like nothing Ive seen in the city; my SO said it reminded him of fine dining restaurants in Vegas or NY. The service was impeccable. Everyone was so personable, knowledgeable, and professional without being stuffy or pretentious and I was so impressed by the level of coordination amongst the teams; they were just so in tune with each other. We had gone for my SOs birthday and SEVEN different staff members wished him happy birthday. From table setting to the pouring of the wine to the presentation of the courses, to the refilling of the water glasses and the clearing of the table, the transitions were seamless and the timings were spot on. It felt like our table was the only one in the room, even though the restaurant was nearly full. I have never felt so well attended-to at a restaurant. We truly enjoyed our evening and cant wait to return!
Had an amazing night here yesterday. Special thanks to Terence, Ashleigh, Valentina and Mirko. The FOH absolutely killed it.
Perfect in every way! The design and layout of the restaurant are both very appealing and elegant. An ambient setting for a drink or the dinner of a special occasion. I cant emphasize enough how amazing the service was with every staff member operating as an organized unit during the entire meal. The staff were very knowledgeable and skilled with their recommendations regarding the menu including the drink pairings. We chose the signature menu which was comprised of wonderful concepts with exquisite flavour profiles and presentations that were simply awe-inspiring. We came for a birthday and were offered a pleasant surprise at the end which made things that much more special. I would definitely come back here again.
Daniele delivers a culinary masterpiece at his namesake restaurant combining italian and Japanese cuisine, providing an enchanted escape unlike anything in the Toronto culinary scene.
Amazing experience! The food, service and atmosphere was outstanding. The Chef is a very humble guy and creates such beautiful dishes. Everything was top Notch! Only complaint is it left me wanting more Vegetarian options: My wife is vegan and the chef did a wonderful job making sure she was well looked after.
So amazing and delicious!!
