Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner!
Love Donna’s for excellent food and great service. Highly recommend the cod liver, steamed pudding, cod, duck was also sublime. The menu changes seasonally but you can always find at least one dish that stays. In summer the pea salad is really incredible. It’s also really nice and so rare to find a good restaurant that is open for lunch. Their lunch menu is great and has a few good veg options not just one. Service hits the perfect tone and the decor is really clean but also interesting and fun. In short, have never had anything less than a great experience at Donna’s.
My partner and I had a beautiful time at Donna’s. We ordered the tasting menu and it did not disappoint. The variety was excellent and the service was very sweet. Super thankful we came here!
Donna’s, Donna’s, Donna’s. This is probably my favourite place in the Junction Triangle. It’s got cute vibes with amazing food. For lunch - I recommend the leafy salad with mushroom sandwich. As a salad hater, I think this is what peak salad looks like. Soft leafy greens with buttery croutons and butter salad dressing. Everything is seasoned so well. The mushroom sandwich is also to die for, and really redefines what a good sandwich could be. So crunchy and flavourful! (Not what you’d expect a mushroom sandwich to be described as) For dinner - can’t go wrong with anything. Personally, I found the pork neck steak to be eye opening. It felt like a unique take on steak au poivre, which I enjoyed. I also liked the tartare. The liver toast was good but was a little heavy for my taste. They have a rotating menu, it may have already changed. Overall, would recommend. Whether it be for a light lunch or a celebratory dinner, this place can do it all.
Incredible incredible incredible! Definitely check out Donna’s if you’re considering it! Had their tomato soup special today with my friend and it was delicious! The veggie melt was also so yummy :) The service was great and the atmosphere was also great too, even on a Friday! Will definitely be coming back again and telling people about Donna’s !
This place is absolutely amazing! I’ve been twice now and have loved it both times. Great food with lots of flavour, not a huge menu but they do the items really well. Will be back many more times. Very nice and knowledgeable staff.
Food was disappointing. I heard great things from my sister who dined here but after ordering a bunch of dishes, I was not very impressed. Found the majority of the dishes to be over salted and lacked flavour. Similar to what another individual wrote, the lamb was overpriced and undersized. And the mint didn’t taste that great with it either.
Donna’s is tucked away on Lansdowne just off of Bloor. The menu allows for a full vegetarian or pescatarian dinner with no compromise. We decided to try a in assortment of dishes to see all of Donna’s offering, let me tell ya, they delivered. Service was great and paired us perfectly for our Pickerel with an extremely crispy dry white wine. I have yet to cross paths with a restaurant that is open 12 hours of the day and has the capabilities of delivering such well thought out high quality dishes. Definitely interested in the lunch options and will be coming back soon. Thanks! -Honest F.
Update: Came here for dinner service and they did not disappoint! Tried a variety of dishes, all of which were delicious. The salads were refreshing and flavorful without being too salty or overpowering, so it complimented the other dishes well. The pasta was lovely, the flavor and texture were spot on - gobbled that up real quick. The oysters and mussels were very fresh. Lastly, the steak was nicely cooked and the sauce was heavenly. The service was amazing as usual and the portions were good. I left the restaurant feeling full, happy and satisfied. Def recommend the dinner service as well as the lunch service. The atmosphere was even better at night with the lights, giving a cozy vibe. Would be great place for a date or a night out with friends! ___ Went to Donna's for the first time and had an amazing experience. The food and service were great! Tried the roast beef sandwich and the shrimp salad sandwich. I heard really good things about the roast beef sandwich but it exceeded my expectations. The meat was packed with flavor and the dressing balanced the whole thing. The shrimp salad sandwich was a pleasant suprise because I usually don't like shrimp (had a couple bites out of my friend's). The shrimp itself was very fresh and the sauce was rich in flavour. Highly recommend to anyone looking to eat great food with a warm atmosphere and service! Would rate more than five stars if I could :)
I love every single thing about this place!!! It definitely feels like you re being seated in the home of a Donna. The menu is the perfect size; not too much stuff but enough options for any craving. The shrimp salad sandwich is an even better version of a lobster roll. The mushroom sandwich is such a good vegetarian option. The crispy mushroom paired with the light bread and creamy aioli. The leafy lettuce salad was a great side with lots of crunch, a little zingy, and topped with buttery croutons. We ended with the caramelized sunflower seed cookie and it was the perfect way to end our meal! It was crispy and nutty and texturally really pleasing. They also have incredibly cute merch. I highly recommend coming here for a chill vibe and good food. I can t wait to come back and try their dinner. Vegetarian options: Mushroom sandwich, veggie melt
Excellent service that started from the door. Atmosphere was great. Food was delicious and the server even came back to offer us a non-alcoholic dessert since it was served with alcohol. Would not hesiste to come back if Im in the area.
Delightful, in every way!
Impressed!
Great morning sandwichs
Everything was great!
Donna s was great! They were able to accommodate gluten free, safe for celiac disease and their menu had a variety of options.
Its aight. Like, its fine but I dont really get all the hype. Its a sandwich shop selling ok, overpriced sandwiches. The service and atmosphere was nice and friendly but waiting for a table to get some very average sandwiches is not really worth it IMO. As a lover of a good sandwich, I was left somewhat unsatisfied.
So fun, interesting and fresh.
The best roast beef sandwich in the town
The service was impeccable. The ingredients for each item were excellent. The portion sizes, the flavours, and the innovation of each dish left a lot to be desired. Nothing really blew my mind. I had it hyped to me by people who have fabulous taste. We tried 4 dishes. Oysters were slightly less than average in taste and quality. The swordfish, lamb liver toast, and beef tartare had great quality ingredients. However, each dish was really boring for flavours. The service is exceptional. The food was completely forgettable.
This place is awesome!
Incredible service, great at adapting for a diner with celiac disease. Breakfast and dinner, can t miss!
Curious little place where food is meant to be shared. Portions might deceive you into thinking you won t get satisfied but trust me, you will. Food is amazingly good and the service is great too.
Divine
Kitschy, fresh and delicious.
One of the best meals Ive had in Toronto. Outstanding food. A hidden gem. We had the try everything menu and it was so so good, highly recommended. Fantastic flavor combinations, fresh ingredients, unpretentious, sophisticated without being annoying, delicious, My only suggestion is to expand the wine list. Thank you for a great meal.
Love this place, great food and service!
Beautiful spot for a meal. The menu is simple and elegant, designed to be shared. We enjoyed 5 dishes and left happily stuffed. Warm relaxed staff. Lil local treasure.
Mushroom sando is fire
Amazing food and Anna crushed it
Yes ! Lovely food, great staff, mood is always vibing here. Thanks
Homey, with refined ingredients, but not pretentious. Love this place!
Lovely and charming restaurant. Rotating menu with different offerings. Ive been there a few times now and I have really liked most things.
I like it here. Everything I ate was amazing and I love the vibe. Staff are like ok. Not bad just nothing special lol. I would say don t come if ur not an advantageous eater tho.
This is a perfect restaurant, full stop. If this place has an untimely close due to being inadequately patroned, it would be an unforgivable tragedy. I know this sounds dramatic, but truly there are so many restaurants in this city that are expensive and meh. Or good but not inspiring and certainly not great. Donna s is not only great, but excellent. Get your keister there and show these talented people some love.
The food is incredible! And the staff are amazing too!
Dining at Donnas feels like youre having a meal at your coolest friends house. The lean menu is straightforward but clearly very well thought out with beautiful colours, flavours, and textures. Again and again I find myself treking across the entire city just for a potato tortilla, pea salad, or a roast beef sandwich. The service is always super friendly and casual but incredibly competent at the same time (s/o Anna!!). Its also so lovely to see the chefs stepping out into the dining room to run food and chat with guests. Its easy to see why theyve garnered such a loyal group of regulars. This is undeniably the best lunch spot in Toronto and I will fight anyone who says otherwise!!!!!!!!
The food is good, but the portions are too small for the price. Also, they asked if I d prefer normal water or sparkling, so I chose the second one because i thought it was a curtesy of the restaurant and they ended up charging me 7 DOLLARS for a bottle of water. Never going back.
Cute vibe with nice sandwiches and a good selection of drinks. Fast service too.
I reviewed this place around when it opened, and Ive been going ever since, and let me tell you: this is simply one of the very best restaurants in Toronto! Eat here or youre missing out. (Dont miss the pea salad or the shrimp sandwich, but everything is amazing!) Original Review: Dont let the simple appearance of the food and the laid-back atmosphere fool you! Expert craft has gone into every element to make the food just special. In particular, dont miss the shrimp sandwich! Oh man...
Amazing spot. Great service and awesome sandwiches. What more could you want?
It was very tasty food but was a bit expensive . I suggest reservations. Parking: Lots available Wheelchair accessibility: Street level.
delicious simple dishes that exceed expectations
Its amazing. I took a picture of an appetizer, but one bite made my phone stop existing. The lamb chop was so good it didnt make sense. My brain was having trouble understanding how the meat could be so perfect. The hamachi crudo had me sneakily looking around the table to see if anybody had missed a piece. They had not. Donnas has really got it going on.
Delicious food but serving sizes on the smaller side. Be prepared to spend a decent amount if you re really hungry. Overall very cool atmosphere with simple but tasty dishes. We (2) ordered the Hamachi crudo, Goats Curd, leafy salad and the morel lasagna. The lasagna itself was super tasty, but for $27 you d expect a more generous portion. I d definitely go back for a drink and an app.
Discovered this place by accident with my date and it was such a happy accident! The tuna sandwich and pork bagel were honestly amazing. Loved the vibe. Such a hidden gem!
The food was excellent. Another sharing meal. Had most of the menu. Will be back!!
Totally not worth it the hype! I went there after seeing so many chefs recommending the place in a very popular Instagram page, but it turns out this is probably and most unfortunately one of the worst places for food I ve ever been in Toronto. Cheers to the servers and customer service, for they re incredibly kind and helpful- and surely the place has its own vibe with thrifted items all over, a nostalgic aesthetic and background music that transports you to a different place in time (although the first couple songs were upbeat electro and I got myself confused before settling for a 80s-90s playlist). However, I found during my culinary experience that they are heavy-handed when it comes to adding acidity to their meals. Totally and completely not balanced. My goat cheese toast would be great, for the sourdough was freshly baked and tasty- can t say the same about the artichokes! Way too sour and covered in vinegar, or whatever acids they use to season it. It looked like a soup and it didn t taste good. Also, the lasagna is allegedly shareable but I found two sheets of lasagna topped with CHUNKS (!) of cheese completely nonsense, and definitely not enough portion to make one person satisfied- but very tasty nonetheless! Wasn t it for the cheese chunks, it would ve been a 10/10 for me. So yeah, I went ahead and ordered a side of salad, only to get myself disappointed with guess what? Yeah, more vinegar/acid. The green beans in the salad tasted like over salted olives or something pickled like pickles, yet not green beans. Yeah let s just put it like that. And finally, the lemon pie. It was SO BAD I couldn t finish it and brought it home with me, only to hear from my partner wow that s way too lemony eh? Very sour . So yeah, it was meant to be a lovely and sweet experience, but it turned out to be extremely sour, as ironic as it may sound- would love to have my money back if that was a thing (over $100 with two drinks just for one person), but hey! Don t believe me if you don t want to. Just go there aware that your expectations should be set right, so you don t get to be as disappointed and upset as I was by the end of my experience. Just be ready to not make faces while eating vinegar-tasting-like food
IDK what all you people are complaining about here with cost and portion sizes. Donna s remains one of the most creative, delicious and good value menues in the city. I ve loved them since they opened but they still continue not to miss. Lamb liver on toast forever.
I had pretty high expectations for this place due to the good reviews. I was disappointed by a plate of 48 dollar lamb that was stiff, chewy, and poorly presented. Looked more like a plate of leftover than a $48 dollar entree. The leek and mint also tasted weird together. The portion was pathetic, with only 2 slices of lamb. When the waitress asked us how was the dish, we told her that the lamb was stiff. She said she will let the kitchen know. Moments later, another waiter came over to ask the exact same question. We definitely will not return to this restaurant again.
Really liked the food. It was very fresh and delicious. Vibe was cool.
Snobby waiter, snobby kitchen with snobby prices for snobby food.
No doubt the flavours are amazing. They do veggies very well. We didnt appreciate a $48 lamb chop that was precut and tiny portioned. We felt ripped off. It felt like they gave us leftover lamb slices cooked at different temps. Wine list was not super good either for the price.
Visiting Donnas was a pleasure. We were a group of five: it was smooth to get a reservation on a Thursday night and the restaurant was not full. A cute quiet spot! There are some cute vintage details, hand sewn and mismatched napkins and plates. The seats could be more comfortable. The food was outstanding. Simple, but delicious. I loved the carpaccio-style steak salad and the kohlrabi gratin best. They have Orange wine and Revel cider on the menu. The server was lovely! Knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. I will go to Donnas again!
sammie yum
You have to try the duck breast! Also I like the leafy salad and dessert!
Favorite place to grab a sandwich in Toronto! Once youve tried one youll wanna try them all so definitely recommend going half and half ok two sandwiches, and if you dont want to do that get the mushroom! Best mushroom sandwich ever! Also their homemade lemonade are amazing
Don t be dissuaded by the limited menu, because sometimes simplicity truly is better and you d be cheating yourself out of one of Toronto s best breakfast sandwiches. Donna s truly has something special in its classic steak and egg sandy. I spilled egg yolk all down my shirt but honestly it was worth it! The lattes are simple but delicious and the cafe itself has comfortable seating and great choice in music. My party was slightly high maintenance with our seating preferences, and the waitress was truly wonderful despite this. Vegetarian options: The Ken breakfast sandwich is a great vegetarian option
The lamb liver on toast was fire picklerel also great, salad also bomb
A charming little spot with elevated food in a non fussy laid back vibe. Definitely recommended. This place has a small menu of a few entrees and more tapas style food. You can t really pinpoint the cuisine but it s all very delicious. We tried the shrimp and rice, the monkfish, the gratin and the lamb liver. Every single dish was rich in flavor, tasty and just bold. We love when its not the just the average traditional dishes. The vibe of this place is all character. Its cozy, dim lit and just cool.
These guys love to go around saying they have the best roast beef sandwich in the world. Well . They do indeed have the worlds BEST roast beef sandwich. 10/10 recommend for amazing service and shockingly good sandwiches!
Delicious food and great atmosphere. There were limited vegetarian options, but all super tasty. The sticky toffee pudding was probably the best I ever had.
Just stumbled open this place and was pleasantly surprised! The food is incredible, the atmosphere is inviting, the staff is friendly!
Kind of like going for dinner at your old Aunts place. Small menu of reasonably well prepared but not-great-value options, solid service and friendly staff. Loud, odd playlist (dancey 80s during the Holidays? Ummm...okay, I guess?) and overpriced wines. Overall, fine if youre local but for goodness sake dont make a special trip to dine here.
The mushroom sandwich is excellent.
Good customer service
The roast beef was nothing short of epic! Complex flavours with a mega pop from the horseradish and parsnip combo. Wine list is great and they have a bottle store to go. Also, if you want a picnic prepared, you couldnt ask for a better place to go.
Order: Steak & Egg Sando Spicy ketchup helped make the steak and eggs a winning combo. Runny yolk is the only kind of egg in this sandwich. Would travel to eat it. Food : 3/5
The food is quality, but the portions are small and the menu has few options. It has a somewhat interesting hipster vibe, though not necessarily worth the visit. I had the grilled cheese, an almond brioche and a hot chocolate. Normally I d give it a 4 star, but that s just too high given that it currently has an average of 4.7 and I find that rather deceptive.
I really wanted to love this place...
tip top sandwichry
A truly memorable meal. Excellent food, friendly staff, thoughtful decor and unique plates. Not my neighborhood but Ill be back.
Very nice local neighborhood restaurant! Not a lot of selection on the menu but they do everything right!!! Love the ham and roast beef sandwich! The price is good!!!
if you want big sandwiches go to subway
Food was really good. Music was good too. Ambience was strange - felt like I was having dinner in a portable with some dead looking plants nearby the crash site for a trailer carrying a bunch of Elvis era knick knacks.
Food was solid and so was the service.
Can confirm, Donnas is a fabulous neighbourhood restaurant, with excellent yet unpretentious service and a solid wine list. Immaculate vibes. Unfussy but well thought-out menu. Standout was the leafy green salad. I dont even care if its boring to love a salad, because it is imo, the best way to start a meal. Like, I loved this salad. I want it again right now. My mouth is watering thinking about it. Made the mistake of ordering two rich dishes to follow: the lamb liver toast and the roast duck breast. Back to back, those dishes were too much for moi, and thats just bad ordering on my part. However - the lamb liver was well balanced with a pickled shallot to cut through the rich liver. The roast duck breast is def for 2, as the menu suggests, and unfortunately was just the slightest bit overdone, at least imo, so the texture didnt feel quite right. The flavours were on point though (that pop of clementine sweetness!) and I didnt ~not~ enjoy it, but after the rich lamb liver, it didnt stand out. If you order the roast duck for 2, strongly suggest getting two veggie starters instead of another protein. The table next to us had the carrots, and they looked delish. The service was also excellent - attentive, but not intrusive. Friendly but not extra. Just really good staff which usually reflects good management and a cohesive vision. Exactly what you want in a neighbourhood resto. 2 apps + 1 large main + 1 glass of wine + 1 non-alc drink = about $110 with tax.
Let Donna s take you on a RIDE. I d say the menu looks a little underwhelming but trust in the chef that everything is made with utter perfection. After one bite, we already started scheming up a second visit to try more items. The Shrimp Salad Sandwich is like a lobster roll but with shrimp - magnificent. Every bite was rich and fresh at the same time. The Roast Beef Sandwich was very well composed. Horseradish with a savoury meat and other ingredients in a toasty bun really charmed my tastebuds. The meat had a certain tenderness and the bun had the right amount of crunch that kept me wanting more. Potato Tortilla - like an upgraded perogie. Grilled on the outside with layers of goodness, paired with sour cream and red chilli oil.. yum. Those three dishes split between two people was very satisfying. I m looking forward to 1) trying the rest of their lunch menu and 2) exploring their dinner menu
What a beautiful find close to Lansdowne and Wallace. Really nice ambiance, the roast beef sandwich was delicious, my hot choc and my friends coffee was tasty and all in all the service was excellent! Their menu is seasonal and keeps changing, so check the website for the most up to date menu. Will definitely be coming back to try the rest of the menu. Vegetarian options: They do have vegetarian dishes. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free and plant based milk available.
A true neighbourhood gem. I am still dreaming about the lamb toast and shrimp with rice on the dinner menu. The wine list is on point - well curated, unique, perfectly balanced. The service is warm, hospitable and unpretentious. I am so glad to have stumbled upon this place and look forward to our next visit.
Highly recommend! The restaurant is quaint and full of personality. The food was SO good! You have to get the asparagus tart.
Roast beef sandwich was really tasty. Toppings were fresh and had a nice flavour. Although the beef was tender but was a little chewy. Tuna sandwich was nice as well. A nice cozy place and warm service. Do check it out if in the area.
A very cute cafe in the neighbourhood, its small and cozy... Went in for breakfast and liked the food. Its a little overpriced, but I wouldnt mind it as the atmosphere is great.
Salads are great. Food is great. Service is always great. This place is a neighbourhood gem.
The store is pretty. Everything from the overall interior to the dishes and small items is pretty. Did you only eat the lunch menu? I liked that the food was clean and the taste was not spicy.
We had been meaning to try this place for a while and it exceeded expectations. We ordered the family style menu, and every single dish was creative and delicious. Cozy, fun spot. Good service. We ll be back.
Nice spot with a tight menu and really nice wines. Try the Magic Chili Peanuts for a unique, tasty snack.
Do not come for dinner. Food is overpriced and very mediocre. I had a cold roast pork, and my spouse had a pee salad. Both were nothing special. The atmosphere is alright, but the place lacks a feeling of coziness that one would get in a good restaurant.
Great lunch spot. Highly recommend.
Cute decor, food was good. Sticky toffee pudding was the best part of the meal
Delicious! Loved the asparagus tart and mezcal Paloma ! Food
Very busy for lunch, great sandwich
Excellent breakfast sandwiches and friendly staff. Highly recommended!
Great meal, great service, reasonable price. The only thing preventing a 5 star rating is that there was nothing really that stood out as Wow, but no complaints and will be back
Foods were enough and very delicious. Rhubarb mouse was amazing. Strongly recommend!!
Awesome spot, reasonably priced and great options on the menu. Potato or rye was amazing!
I am glad I dont live near there, as I would be fat and broke.
Always charming and tasty.
Service was quick, mimosas were delicious and so was our roast beef sandwich we both got! DELICIOUS Definitely coming back for it. Small menu not that very much options but still a great small spot
The service is excellent and delicious food, plus the place has Toronto s vibe
Overall not a bad experience . Will need to come back again and try once more.
Really good food, awesome atmosphere
What a beautiful spot! Unassuming spot with a cozy atmosphere, delicious food and great service. So happy to have a perfect brunch spot in the neighbourhood. Food
Wow! Small menu but every item was so solid! The heirloom tomatoes were mind blowing- my favourite dish of the night.(Who would have though I d be dreaming about tomatoes?) We also had the pasta with ham and edamame and the haddock. Both were great! Service was attentive and decor is hipster and chic. Just go!!
Taste of summer in one plate I guess it would be the best definition of my experience at Donna s Restaurant. Crispy, juicy and full of flavors. Pea salad and chanterelle bread absolutely amazed me. Sorry, oysters were so good that I forgot to make a picture prior I finished them). The space is very cosy and decorated with love, just try to find two similar lampshades, two identical napkins , they all are so lovely and cute.
We loved the Big Donna, can t recommend it enough.
Our table of five was able to crush the Big Donna (one of every menu item plus 3 oysters per person) but boy were we full! Highly recommended!
This is simple food done right. Everything is always so tasty. I recently went for lunch with a friend and we loved everything we ordered. I ve since been back twice for take-out breakfast sandwiches and I ve really enjoyed those too. The iced americanos I ve ordered have also been perfect!
very good place
Yummy sandwiches
Such a gem or a restaurant. Great vibes and delicious food. Anna was such a pleasant and knowledgeable server. Vegetarian options: Many vegetarian options. I tried one and am not a vegetarian. It was so filling and tasty. Dietary restrictions: I don t have any but the Server asked while I was ordering. So nice.
Interesting hipster style of place. Portions are small especially the fish mains. Had the monkfish and mackerel. I dont get the shared family-style plates. None of them where big enough to share, they were tapa sized at most. Hence why our server suggested we order 5 dishes for 2 people. $7 for sodastream sparkling water? Whats up with that?
We ate dinner at Donna s last night for my wife s birthday. We strung along both our kids so needed a bit more attention. The staff are super friendly and attentive which made our meal exceptionally enjoyable. The food was a tad expensive but in 2023 everything is expensive so I don t blame them. Everything was well portioned and expertly cooked. The flavours were daring and bold, which we appreciated. I don t think I ve had such interesting flavours in this city (mind you we eat at a lot of places). The plates we got were: oysters, mackerel crudo, red Leicester cheese, cold roast pork, pasta and the cauliflower/potato gratin. All the dishes were good but I d definitely go back for the mackerel and pork. Parking: Street parking only
My favorite restaurant in Toronto. The food is incredible and the atmosphere and service are also amazing. I have eaten here many times and am always impressed by the food and service. Highly recommend!!!
This place is great for some unfussy and delicious food. Really good sandwiches for lunch in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Food : 5/5
My friend brought me here and we were served by this awesome server named Anna, who recommended the best roast beef sandwich ever, gave us exceptional service. Honestly, the place felt like I was in my friends house eating food. The hot chocolate was delicious. Anna, thanks again. Youre dope!
Amazing lunch at Donna s! Servers were extremely kind and quick. The roast beef and shrimp sandwiches were delicious. Sadly they were out of the fried mushroom sandwich, but that just means we ll have to come back!
Incredible food and top notch service. I had the utmost pleasure dining at Donnas for dinner. Each dish we ordered brought its own unique touch! We ordered the Lamb Liver on Toast. It came with 3 pieces for $18. It was well balanced and simply exquisite. We also got Monkfish for $35 and their special Solefish dish that was available that evening. Each fish dish was filleted, had a lovely sweet and mild taste. I was thoroughly impressed with how wonderfully delicious everything turned out. We got our servers suggestion for a bottle of red wine. He recommended Chateau Cambon which was an excellent choice.
LAMB. LIVER. ON. TOAST.
Absolutely awesome. Sat at back of resto at chefs table and had the most amazing family style meal. Sardine chips, halibut crudo, lamb pate, beef rib roast with yorkshires, gravy, peas, cheesed cauliflower. And lovely sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Spectacular. These guys have the backstory and it shows. Cant recommend enough.
Excellent spot, dinner and lunch are different vibes. I like lunch more but check out both! The menu is small but you need to trust the staff... what they make is amazing even if it seems odd.
best service i ve had in ages. super super yummy.
Donna s seems to have struck the perfect balance of really great food without the fuss of a higher end restaurant. The experience was relaxed, comfortable and welcoming and the food was seriously delicious The interior of the restaurant isn t going to win any design awards, but I think that works in their favour. The price point also felt on par with the food and experience. Will 100% be coming back and I m so happy to have discovered this place for myself:)
Awesome place! I went with a group of five and the waiter suggested The Big Donna (one of every plate) and even with five people we barely got through the meal! And it was all delicious.
Simply amazing!!
What a lovely experience. The food is so tasty. The staff are very sweet. And the place is adorable. Such a great experience!!! Thank you
Really welcoming server. Delicious food and laidback vibe. Thanks for a charming experience.
Best
I am such a fan. Excellent quality, great attention to detail. Superb hospitality.
Obsessed with this spot!
Cute space with lots of antiques. I had smoked trout that was on special
It was my first time visiting this place. Their lunch menue had only a few items BUT everything we ordered was delicious!! Thank you! I will definitely make another trip for lunch or may even try dinner:)
When at a loss for what to do or where to eat, Donnas is always the solution. Brunch, lunch, dinner, a quick coffee or a cocktail? Covered. Unassuming and exquisite all at once. The food is so special - even the simplest dishes (a plate of chips accompanied peppers and sprats, a leafy salad that I dream about daily with its umami dressing and perfectly boiled eggs and toasted croutons, a lamb liver toast that is so intense with its gaminess but so balanced by herbs and crunchy bread, I could go on). Set aside the food and youve got the friendliest and least pretentious service and kitchen in the city and a wine list thats surprising and exciting every time. I could wax poetic about this place forever - plz never close!
Recommended by a friend. Lovely wait staff and delicious meal in a comfortable, bright atmosphere. We had the potato tortilla (divine) and shrimp sandwich (delightful) hydrated by their elderflower lemonade.
Small but QUALITY and special menu. PEA SALAD? unexpectedly fabulous. Loved the clean vintage aesthetic with and felt fantastically LGBTQ2S+ friendly. Super nice patio and very spacious inside. Accessibility: Bathrooms downstairs, beware your knees!
Never had anything like this in Toronto. All the food is very fresh, creative, and delicious! The ceviche and eton mess are especially good.
Great experience at Donna s. We had recommendations from the owner and had dinner there which consisted of: - the pea salad - sea bream and shrimp - sour dough and butter - pork shoulder chop (our table s favourite dish) - rare roast beef - dessert: custard with strawberry and Eton mess Entire meal was amazing. Outdoor patio sealed the deal and great experience all around. Will definitely be back for breakfast and/or lunch as well. Thank you Christine and everyone at Donna s.
Mistake going for a late lunch. How do you justify $16 for a BLT on regular toast with no sides lunch menu very basic and expensive. We got the pea salad, fried mushroom sandwich - again it s just mushroom, lettuce and mayo for $13.50 no sides doesn t make sense. However- Ingredients are very fresh and the vibe is cool, great drink menu. Will have to come back for dinner to change my mind. Service very mediocre..
Well crafted food, great vibes, always friendly staff. Been a longtime fan of the pea salad, and roast beef sandwich. While the food is always great, the people who work here always keep me coming back.
Charming date spot. Vegetarian options: Decent veg options for a small menu. Parking: Plenty of bike parking!
We really enjoyed our experience on a perfect summer day in Toronto. Clever, simple, well thought out dishes served with care.
Very good, if a touch overhyped. The spread on the breakfast sandwich is delectable, but also overwhelms everything else on the bun, including the egg. A second egg wouldn t hurt, especially for the price point; you may finish it feeling less than satiated. Same goes for the shrimp sandwich (like a lobster roll, but with shrimp). Very tasty, especially with the fresh dill, but for the price you might want to not feel still a little hungry at the end. Maybe I just worked up too much of an appetite for this place. The service was fine if a tad indifferent seeming. The dinners look great, so I will be back to try it again in the evening. Perhaps dinner is where it s at with Donna s.
Super fresh

I want to be a bigger fan of this local spot, but just can t. I ve dined here twice, and while the first time (just after opening) was pretty tasty, the second time was an expensive disappointment for all four in our group. Portions were stingy, presentation was uninspired and flavours were sadly bland. If nobody at the table is raving about the food, something is wrong. Donna s has a whatever vibe with mismatched/uncomfortable school furniture, polite-but-disengaged service and minimal attempts at creating atmosphere. I understand that they re going for an informal feeling, but it just feels like nobody cares. This photo of their attempt at outdoor dining says it all.
Hand s down my favourite Toronto restaurant! I ve been a few times for lunch or dinner, and just tried the family style sharing menu with some friends for my birthday. Each dish is so unique and perfectly executed. Having surprise dishes brought out one after another made for such a fun experience. The ambiance and decor are quirky and warm. And the service was top notch. You won t regret visiting!
Dishes vary from quirky to simple but its all tasty.
Everything was delicious my first time at Donna s. Great drinks, solidly made martini. We shared a bunch of dishes, the beef tongue was great and the roast beef was fantastic. The radish leaves were a great touch. The deep and delicious dessert was a real standout, we fought over the last bite. Great service, great dinner.
Such a breakfast diner vibe. The menu is small and everything I had was delicious.
I was disapointed in the flavours. Maybe we did not choose well our dishes. The best one was the lamb liver toast. Food : 3/5
Donnas was utter delight. This was our first time here and we can t wait to plan our next visit. First off, loved the vibe of the place. The interior is so cute and strikes that perfect balance of contemporary and vintage. Can t go wrong with all those houseplants too. Of course, the food is amazing well. Had to try the Miss Vickie s, Sprats and Peppercinos. Paired perfectly with my Vermouth Seltzer. We also enjoyed the Squash and Goat Cheese salad and Cod Croquettes. All wonderful dishes with beautiful complex flavours. For our main course we ordered the Pork Shoulder Chop - wow it was good! The pork was cooked perfectly and it was so juicy and tender. We highly recommend ordering a side of the Sourdough Toast to sop up all that wonderful sauce. We finished our meal with the pear tart. I wish there was a smidge more pear, but the flavour itself was outstanding - loved the cheese ice cream! Have to conclude this review by commending Lucy for her excellent service. She expertly guided us through the menu and made us feel right at home. What a pro! Can t wait to come back!
Delicious roast beef sandwich!
I just love this place. Foods are so delicious.
Never a bad time or bad meal at Donnas. Everything is so simple, but so good. Steak n Egg breakfast sandwich is unreal.
I love the fun atmosphere and the great food at this unique restaurant. The family style dinner is well with the price, you get quite a large selection and everything is delicious. I particularly liked the rice and shrimp dish and the tongue. The drinks are fun and arent too expensive though we did notice that there were sight inconsistency between orders. My grapefruit cocktail was a little less grapefruity then my friends. The pear tart is quite good though I didnt find the cheese ice cream to be particularly cheesy. Overall a fantastic experience. I highly recommend going with a few friends to try out more of the menu.
Great food
