local neighborhood seafood oyster bar, open for lunch and dinner
We had our wedding at Eastside Social. Our entire family was blown away by the food, service, and overall experience at ESS. The staff were exceptional, being attentive to everyone and were very accommodating to every guest. The food was sensational, where we ever had out of town guests wanting to come back. We could not have asked for a more perfect evening. Thank you to Joey and team for everything.
First time patrons - soon to return for more. The owners were very kind and the service was great! Yummy food too - we ordered the Salmon Benny’s and the smash burger. 👍
We were a party of 3 and shared a dozen oysters and the Burrata. Both were delicious and I highly recommend them. The only issue is they give you 3 pieces of bread which isn't enough. The waitress did offer if we wanted more bread at the start for $4, but that extra bread should always be included. Had the streak frites for dinner which was perfect. Their Dill on Dill drink was wonderful and was better than their recommended drink of the evening. We ordered 4 of those drinks and each were made perfectly.
First time visiting the restaurant. Was accepted as a single table on an early Friday evening with ease and was given nothing but 5 star treatment from arrival to departure. It was a celebratory night, and needless to say, I was not disappointed! The Atlantic salmon is the epitome of phenomenal taste. The green curry as a foundation was for lack of a better word, addictive. To the point that my server offered me a spoon once the remainder of the dish was finished - to which I was obliged and cleared the bowl of everything but the garnish. Each element of the dish itself has clearly been planned to a calculated perfection and it all forms into a complimentary blend of flavours. I had the Rosie to drink (mocktail equivalent of the Dill on Dill - which I need to go back and try when I am able) and it paired perfectly with the main dish. The hint of dill and citrus brought out even more of the salmon’s perfectly cooked notes. The cheesecake was my finisher and the tartness of the coulis that comes with it was an excellent end to my visit. Joey is an exceptional presence and was very attentive to all guests present. Leslie was a perfect server and made my experience that much more better. Will be back!
The food here is pretty good, the vibes were chill and servers were nice. The place is a but dark and kinda small with not much seating. We got the fish and chips, oxtail risotto and burrata. Everything was super delicious, fish and chips were light crispy not soggy at all, risotto was super creamy and flavourful with the oxtail, burrata was also very tasty. Will definitely come here again to check out their other items on the menu.
Cozy romantic atmosphere, interesting menu full of unique flavours and great friendly service. The Kung Pao Broccoli, Pork Belly and Ceviche were all delicious highlights. Will definitely come back!
Made a reservation here for my dad's bday. It took a while to get seated, however, we did arrive a tad early for our reservation. Once seated, you have to scan a QR code for the menu (would have preferred paper menus). The vibes of the dining room were the study of an interesting and worldly person, with a cozy decor, bookcases and fishing decor (but a modern touch). The food we ordered was on the smaller size for portion size however the food was delicious. The server was nice and was able to provide a dessert free of charge for my dad. We will be coming back here for sure! (P.S. 2 for 1 oysters on Wednesdays!)
Great restaurant. The food is amazing and beautifully presented. Really enjoyed the sea bass ceviche, the broccoli and the calamari! Lovely covered and heated back patio. The staff were very welcoming and friendly, they treat you like family as soon as you walk on the door. A leslieville institution!
Best shiitake mushroom bowl I ve ever had!
Always fresh and delicious. Friendly staff and good wine. Great experience Food : 5/5
Loved this place!
Not a tone of gluten free options but the corned beef hash with egg was really good. Worth it for brunch. Took a while to get our drinks, we actually got them after our food. But everything was good
Eaat coast vibe in Toronto with great food and drink - loved it
Great food, the staff was nice.
I asked whatt the salmon in specialty mushrooms and sauce entree was accompanied by and I was told asparagus, which was good, but then was later told they didn t have enough asparagus. I saw they had green beans on the menu elsewhere so I just asked for hot green beans. I was then told there were not enough in the kitchen to offer me. They said they had a sort of bitter broccoli, but because I just had dental surgery I said my dentist told me not to have broccoli. They had absolutely no hot greens to offer other than that one green I could not eat. Very strange for a restaurant of this size. In the end I asked for a little if the cold green salad as presented with other entrees to have any nutrition with my dinner that the server told me was supposed to come with asparagus. My dinner arrived as a small side salad plated separately from a piece of salmon with nothing but sauce despite the description of the entrée on the menu including exotic mushrooms, a much more expensive version of a salad with added salmon. To his credit the owner came by to try and make things better. Sally the best he would do was offer the salmon in mushrooms with a side cold green bean salad with bitter greens in a vinaigrette dressing I had already told the server I didn t want-too bitter. . He said he would not charge me for that bean salad that I didn t even wan,t or the inexpensive glass of wine he offered. Nice, but after such a lousy experience that made me want to just leave, and ending in a meal not described to me in the first place, my entire meal should ve been comped. The salmon, however, was perfectly cooked in a tasty sauce.
Sharing drinks with my partner
Im slowly becoming a regular. Love. The food and service has always been great
Ate here earlier this summer. Delicious tuna tartar and fish & chips. Cool atmosphere. Would go again if in Leslieville.
Not bad, but a bit overpriced for what you are getting. You can get a better brunch for less money.
I happened to be in the area and thought Id check it out. What a pleasant surprise! The food was amazing. Ordered 3 appetizers; the kung pao broccoli, calamari and seabass ceviche were stars. Drinks came fast and food almost as fast. Servers were friendly and the atmosphere was perfect in the back patio. Id definitely come back..and see what new things chef has created
great place to have a nice comfort lunch
All the dishes were so salty and overcooked. The salmon was very well done and all I could taste was salt. Both steak frites were also well done (asked for med rare). Ceviche was overpowered with lime and salt. We did enjoy the fries.
Lovely dinner on the back patio. We had the ceviche, oysters and shared a steak frites. All were delicious! Great affordable bottle of Rose to top it off! We will definitely be back!!
GF options are not gluten free. Absolute scam.
Food was great!
I have dined here multiple times for brunch, lunch and dinner and the service and food have always been amazing. My husband and I recently hosted a private event at this restaurant which went perfectly, we got endless compliments from our guests as to the food, drinks and quality of the wait staff. The owner Joey was exceptional and made sure our event went off without a hitch. Overall all of my experiences here have been positive and I would recommend Eastside Social to anyone!
Great patio around back with a very quiet, chill atmosphere.
I just love this place so much!! Went there with my friend who highly recommended this place and now I know why she love this place so much. Good food, good drinks, good vibes, and good people! My new fav place ;)
My husband and I tried here and was pleasantly surprised to meet someone from Scotland.
Love this place! Weve been a number of times for dinner and drinks and it doesnt disappoint. The ambiance, food (reasonably priced) and service are all top-notch. Great for a date night or fun gathering of friends. Weve had the the Tuna Poke Bowl, the Steak Frites and both are terrific. Special mention goes to the Kung Pao Broccoli and unique yummy Molasses Bread. Well be back!
This is one of our favourite restaurants! Fantastic vibe. AMAZING molasses bread and seafood chowder. Great menu to please everyone. Owners Cherie and Joey are so nice! Highly recommend.
Enjoyed Mother s Day brunch here with the family!
One of my favourite spots to eat at in the neighbourhood. Amazing ceviche, Id say this place is the reason I am a seeker of good ceviche. Great service, and great food!
Great food, service was awesome. Owner was super friendly. Thanks Food : 5/5
Great service and lighting, highly recommend!
Very tasty dishes with reasonable prices. The service was amazing too.
We were there when it opened so service was excellent. Food was very good, nice selection in drinks etc Parking: Right on Queen Street so parking is limited, easy access using the streetcars.
Amazing experience. Incredible food, super friendly staff. Great all around
Great service from welcome at the door, to service at the table. Food good was as well. Great night.
I have been here twice now and was served well both times. I tried the maitake mushroom tacos this time around and they were delicious! I definitely recommend them whether you are vegan are not.
Food was extremely salty. Server was strangely rude/aggressive for no reason? Food
Food limited choice average quality Service is bad. Food
Loved the place, live nearby but never visited. Had the halibut and it was super well done. Room and ambiance was lively, design pretty cool, and server Leslie was a gem. Good value, definitely a repeat soon.
Really great food, I had the fish & chips and would definitely order again... hubby had burger + clam chowder, which were also delicious. Atmosphere is delightful and the staff super attentive! We sill definitely come back. (*** unrelated to the food, but always important to me: the womens bathroom was clean and lovely!)
Awesome place. Seabass ceviche and tuna bowl were delicious. Super friendly owner and staff. Cant wait to come back!
Eastside Social is our favourite restaurant in Leslieville! We have visited a few times for brunch/dinner and were always blown away by the quality food and friendly staff. We connected with the owner, Joey, about hosting a private event (wedding shower) and he was a pleasure to work with from the start! In a word, the event was perfect and Joey + his wonderful staff catered to all of our needs. I would highly recommend Eastside social to anyone for a night out or a private event!
Absolutely fantastic experience. Carrie was especially great!!
Always a great meal, great drinks and friendly service. Wonderful salads, seafood, killer burger and fries. Love this place.
Everything was lovely for my best mates birthday, service of course was super!!! Thank you Adele and other wonderful people Happy New Year to all!
Our service and food was fantastic. Its got a really great vibe. The drinks were interesting too, in particular the Dill on Dill was my favorite new experience.
Excellent place, very pleasant and good service.
One of our favourite Neighbourhood spots. Always friendly service and great food in a warm welcoming atmosphere.
East coast oysters were fresh and delicious. My only add on would be some sort of a creative horseradish spread. The KUNG PAO BROCOLLI !! I could have eaten this all night bravo ! We were cared for by Leslie who was attentive, personable with a smile and charm and very efficient. Food
Easy to assign 5-stars to this Leslieville gem. Upon walking in the front door, we were enveloped in the warmth of the ambience and the tongue-wagging aromas wafting from inside the kitchen. Greeted - and served - by the lovely Adela, the experience was flawless. Menu faves: eggplant crisps, broccoli kung pao, beef tartare, perfectly seared scallops and grilled octopus all prepped to perfection! Bartender Andrew, Chef Dave and his crew, and of course Adela are a winning team. That kinda thing: great food, great service, great ambience makes for a perfect night, especially because it was my birthday!
Delicious food and good setting
A great place to hang out with your friends. We sat at the bar, theres also a sitting area. Did a walk in. Busy but inviting. the food was phenomenal and the bartender was entertaining!
With everybody busy had a quiet day out for my birthday. enjoyed the ambience, which was more family oriented with a very casual but elegant tone. The service was good and attentive, even when it got a little bit more busy. As an appetizer, I had some oysters , as well as the beef tartare. Both were very tasty although the beef tartare had a lot of Parmesan on top, which I m not used to. I definitely enjoyed the duck confit. It was with brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes I believe. Definitely a place I would recommend and I will be back.
We ordered a smash burger and doner from their brunch menu. House-made aioli was amazing. The doner was definitely not your regular shawarma, it had a beef patty and and overwhelming sweet sauce. I still think the place is great, but i should have ordered something else.
Amazing meals and service. They were able to put in a last minute order for me, went to pick up and was greeted by the cute bartender. Ambiance was nice as well. Clam chowder and duck confit on point.
Great place with great food
The vibe here was very good and I was overall a fan of the food. The kung pao broccoli was my favourite dish. I wasn t expecting much from it but it was so tasty and the sauce was amazing. The tuna was also good although a small serving. All the appetizers were good to share. My main was the fish and chips and that is the reason we are at 4 stars. It was genuinely nothing special but I had some of my wife s poke bowl and that was tasty. I would come back to try again and try something else next time.
nice relaxed atmosphere!
Had the Fish Tacos and that was my first time having it... I think it was excellent... The atmosphere in the place was also quite inviting.
Really enjoyed the fish tacos and the octopus!
We would probably need to come back and try dinner menu. Brunch was ok. Burger buns were cold. The kiddo didnt like the kids menu at all. We didnt like that it was super noisy (all tables were occupied), cant hear each other.
Found this little gem when we had very disappointing experiences at other place, the food is decent and served fast! The atmosphere is nice and cozy! We had great time here! Only wish the home fries was less oily! But overall great experience
Great place to watch the game and eat delicious food. Loved that you could also see into the kitchen. Tempura duck confit was tasty and crispy. Dessert would have me returning. It is big enough for 2, but I crushed it on my own. No complaints.
One of the better east end dinners we have had in a while
I got the fish and chips and they were great!
Great atmosphere. First class service . I have the steak and was delicious. Also the appetizers were very good. Not my first time there and looking forward to go back
Came around 6:30PM on a Wednesday with a reservation. We were sat in the back patio. The oysters were quite good however took quite a while to come out. The wine selection was limited and disappointing 4-5 whites, one unnamed rose and a few reds. We had the fish tacos and the mussels. The tacos were nothing amazing, a bit too much mint (whole mint leaves in a taco) and the mussels were also just okay, the sauce was essentially butter. The service was also just okay, our waitress didnt really interact with us much-- maybe this was a function of sitting out back in the patio. Even when we were paying our bill she just stood there silently. All in all, because of the reasonable price for items we were fine with the meal. If I were to go back I would request a seat near the more lively bar and go on a non-oyster hour to get better service.
Great food
Fantastic place with great food and great people. Love their menu!
Great food, great atmosphere. Recommend the kung pow broccoli....amazing appetizer. Fresh oysters were good, although the shucker was a little too aggressive as there were shell pieces in the oyster. Definitely recommend the Eastside Mess dessert if you like lemon curd. Its crazy delicious! Friendly staff and reasonably priced for the great quality of food. Not a big fan of qr code menus as: 1. this implies you have data on your mobile device 2. May be confusing for the elderly or non-tech save 3. If the network is down.... Old fashioned paper menus are always best. I recommend, especially on the patio hidden at the back. Dietary restrictions: Some gluten friendly options published in the menu
Loved the atmosphere and the burrata was fantastic!
Delicious food and drinks, super friendly and attentive staff and a great atmosphere - especially their patio in the back!
Delicious food and drinks! We got the grilled octopus, pasta, and beef tartare and all three meals were delicious. The ambiance was very nice and the music wasn t too loud so all in all I d recommend this place.
Total food Experience. Can t wait to go back. Get the poke bowl. The cocktails are incredible. The desert was soooooo amazing. I can t wait to bring my man in for date night Food
Half-off oysters on Wednesday were drool-worthy and tasted fantastic. The Tuna Poke was also yummy, washed down with a pint of local beer. Service was a tad slow but overall enjoyable.
Great atmosphere, service and food in a relaxed setting. Will definitely be going back.
We had an amazing meal tonight! Big menu so lots to try but I imagine some dishes might be better than others. We got: Burrata (cant go wrong) Duck confit (incredible, and really generous portion) Steak frites (delicious!) Overall great service, nice atmosphere, and excellent food! Will be coming back!
Wonderful experience. Leslie was a fantastic server. Great food. Fresh and wow tasty. Absolutely give this restaurant a try.
Always amazing food. Theres something for everyone here and the owners are awesome!
Great meal. Friendly staff
Tl;dr - wonderful food, great service, fantastic patio and ambiance. Ended up with a full blown 3-course meal during a Saturday evening dinner. The burrata was absolutely to die for -- with the perfect mixture of grapes, pesto, nuts and EVOO! The seabass ceviche was slightly heavier than most ceviche but flavourful, tangy, perfectly acidic and a hint of sweetness to break up the monotony. For mains, we tried the shiitakii bowl and the PEI Mussles . Both were hearty and plentiful with lots of flavour! Mussles were fresh and the garlic wine sauce had nice heat which went well with the bread. Finally, we tried both desserts, neither of them wowed us but they were both well executed. The flour less chocolate cake was dense, chocolatety but after a few bites, it was hard to finish as it lacked a bit of acid to cut the sweetness. The eastside mess was lighter, the chantilly cream was delightful with the berries, but missed out a bit on a fuller umami flavour. Overall, loved the restaurant and the entire experience!
Octopus is a must try.
Ordered a Donair sandwich that was horrible. Way too sweet. It felt like they had put custard all over the pita. The menu said the beef was spicy, it was not. It was mostly flavorless.
food was delish!!
Delicious food and great vibe.
Very friendly environment with delicious food. We recently went for a brunch there and we recommend. Rose was a kind server that day, even though we had a large stroller in the middle of her way. :-) If you go at night, the broccoli is a must.
I was really disappointed as I had high expectations and had been meaning to try this place out for while. Unfortunately we didn t feel particularly welcome. After a curt drinks only, kitchen is closed , we were treated to unwelcome commentary about a political pin that a member was wearing. The comment was promptly followed by but I don t wanna talk politics . The server s comment was not rude but if I m spending hard earned money, I d prefer to do it at a place that was didn t belittle my values. Lucky for us, Avling a few doors down (also with a closed kitchen) delivered exactly what we needed. 2 stars for patio, decor and good access to transit.
We attended the wedding reception of a cousin here (private event). It was hors d uvres style throughout the evening with a wide selection of vegetarian and kosher items too. The staff were all very kind and friendly.
Food was really good, the server was so nice and professional, the lighting was low and dim and there was a candle on the table. Overall really nice experience. Would recommend!
Such a fun inviting atmosphere, staff was super friendly and food was AMAZING! Fish and chips personal fav. Owner was so personable and made the night seamless. Thanks for a great night out.
Good sharing plates, nice cocktails
Food was absolutely amazing! Food service isnt great if you sit at the bar, but did itself is incredible.
They have delicious brunch menu and things to try. The French toast is to die for. The hash options are also very hearty and delicious. They provide great service. On Sundays they give good seizures on sale.
Amazing staff delicious food 10/10
Great spot, highly recommend for a drink and/or dinner. The owner found space to accommodate us past our reservation timeline. The food is awesome (try the burger and octopus). Great beer and wine options. We ll keep coming back.
One of my favourite restaurants in the east end. Great food at a great price, good portion sizes. Love the atmosphere too, feels like a cozy study in someones office.
The food was delicious. We ordered the ceviche for starter (lots of flavour), steak and fries as the main and finished with the Eastside Mess for desert. I didn t expect the food here to make an impression but it did. The atmosphere is loud, and having a conversation was a bit of a challenge. We were also there at peak dinner hours. If you go later at 7:30/8pm it gets better. Dietary restrictions: Gluten Friendly options on the menu
Fantastic in every way.
Had a great dinner here last weekend. Food and drinks were stellar, excellent service, and a good vibe inside. Would recommend for a date night or with a group.
Service was subpar. Server didn t pour water for the table. We asked if they could make anything for a child and server (owner?) suggested the ravioli in butter. They charged the same price as the regular ravioli but didn t serve the lamb. I will not return. $70 for about 10 pieces of underwhelming ravioli.
I can t recommend this place enough. Incredible food and service.
One of the best places on Leslieville. The manager is so welcoming!!!! and the bartender Rose has the biggest heart! Amazing place for an amazing celebration! The octopus and the kumpao broccoli were amazing. I will go again soon!
The staff are so nice and friendly here that you actually get the east coast feel. The food has also never disappointed. If you get the breakfast tacos, be sure to get a third taco!
Great vibe, great food
Food quality not up to mark. Smashed burger costing 25$ plus tax is not even a burger its a mini burger.
Excellent service! Food fantastic. Small place so make reservations!
Left anniversary plans to the last minute and couldn t get a reservation, but ESS graciously came through with their amazing Fisherman s Box! The food was incredible and the instructions were clear and easy to follow. We were stuffed and very happy!
Amazing staff with vibrant personalities, and food is 11/10. The eastside mess is a must try!!
East Side Social is a neighbourhood favourite of ours. The food is delicious, the energy is lively, and the environment is very cozy and warm. I ve gone there for drinks with friends, family meals, and dates with my husband, and each and every time we are always grateful to have this restaurant.
Good food, great ambience. Quite happening place. Would love to visit it again. Good place for a date.
The server was very nice to inform us how many plates will be too much... And that felt really well knowing that they provide service and experience rather than just money collectors.
Love the food and service, the waiter and waitress are hilarious, we had a great time and enjoyed the dinner there.
Cozy place located as its name says in the east end of Toronto, unfortunately couldnt get any clams, food or extra drinks at the time I passed by cause the last call is at 11 pm.
Perfect service and food, I greatly reccomend this restaurant on Queens street West on Toronto
Best fish & chips on the east side! #leslieville
Our server was lovely, so what I m about to say next is unrelated to her service. One of our party members ordered a vegetarian pasta dish, and they gave her vegan cashew cheese instead of regular. She s allergic to cashews, and informed the server who then replaced it, though this time without any cheese all. We were then visited by two different people (either the owners or managers?) both of whom essentially shamed our friend for not telling them in advance about her allergy, despite her never requesting the vegan option or ordering something with cashews. She had explicitly requested vegetarian, not vegan, and the server, nor the menu, noted that cashew cheese would be added. Ultimately, less about the cheese, more about the fact that these two people not once, but multiple times made her feel the need to apologize and feel guilty for THEIR error - she ended up feeling terrible for something that was not at all her fault. There was also no apology from either of them. Definitely won t be returning to or recommending Eastside Social, overall they kind of ruined the experience.
Dinner was okay (food was decent) needed additional salt. The server was so sweet (dark haired woman) however, the manager(?) (Blonde woman) was super condescending to my friend. She ordered a vegetarian dish and received something vegan, with nuts and she had a nut allergy. We were very polite and they first tried to convince her she wasnt specific enough and then kept bringing it up that thank God she didnt die and it was very disrespectful. It made everything very uncomfortable and the blonde woman and chef kept asking her if she was the no cashews girl. Why? And to add, the vegetarian meal that was supposed to have dairy cheese then had no cheese. She was left cheeseless and demeaned and thats not okay.
Love this please. It has a sports bar in the front when you enter. Then there is a quite little dinning room in the back and a laid back patio as well. Food was great service was amazing. Its a small place with a big personality. Loved it!
Great staff amazing food Reasonable price 5+ stars
Good food friendly services
Service was great. Food was excellent. Back patio was very cute. Would go back.
Marty is an absolute gem to your establishment, in all of my years of eating out, hands down the best server I have ever had. He was able to recommend the most amazing drink, The Salty Dog (apparently named after him), very attentive to small details like how the dish was placed, recommending food but most importantly the show we got with him! Came out with wigs and a little show, most amazing personality but was hustling and making everyone in the dining rooms experience just amazing. Everyone in the restaurant was smiling, made my night. The food was also beyond amazing, best experience dining out, highly recommend this place!
Arrived promptly at our reservation time. We had reserved a back patio table. Was told by manager that the people at our table arrived late so it wouldn t be ready. So we were forced to sit inside. Any one with any common sense would have said to the late party either sit inside or you need tobe out by a certain time. Instead we were the ones who lost out. Food was generally good altho one Niçoise salad was mostly potatoes. Stupid rules about side salads and soft drinks. Too many other restaurants out there who know how to treat customers better. Won t be back.
Oysters out of a box on the bar.i know where they come from, but you don t have to show me! Duck was marginal.
Good food with great oysters
The venue and food were enjoyable, but an older bald-headed server spoiled my evening with his obnoxious and rude comments. I wont be returning.
We had the greatest night here! They were about to close the kitchen as we arrived and kept it open for us which is very much appreciated as I know working in the service industry how annoying that is! As well as the servers went above and beyond and shucked us oysters herself because she shucker went home already. The food was amazing! You definitely get what you pay for here and I will be recommending it to everyone I know!!
This is the best restaurant Ive been to in Toronto. The food was excellent, the service was great and the atmosphere was unpretentious! We had the oysters, octopus, fish and chips and mussels, which were all delicious. I will definitely be back again!
Wishing it would have been better. Uninspired cuisine and lacking of charm. Friendly service though.
Antony was our server tonight and he was incredibly hospitable, witty and handled a special request with ease. He was so delightful, I would ve invited him to join us if he could. Our table ordered the mussels, fries, duck confit, fish tacos and a tuna poke bowl. For dessert, there was a lemon curd with whipped cream and fruits - reportedly delicious. Everything was fantastic! Thanks for a great night out!
Great food and very nice service
Every dish was delicious, really nice atmosphere on the back patio, and we had the greatest and most charming server (I think his name was Marty). Best gnocchi I ve ever had. The duck leg was perfectly prepared, with crispy skin and a great sauce. We only wish we could have stayed for dessert! Highly recommended.
Amazing food, amazing staff, amazing vibe. The steak was beautifully cooked and seasoned and we loved our oysters and nicoise salad. Highly recommended.
Excellent food and service
Food was amazing the staff was very friendly, we had a wonderful time
I just wanted to give a little bit of a feedback of my experience. I was quite excited to come to East Side social because I love seafood and was looking forward to trying their dishes. However I must say I was quite disappointed with what I received. I ordered the octopus which normally its supposed to be quite tender and juicy however the octopus that I received was very dry chewy and flavorless. also, when I called ahead of time and asked about their dishes, I was told that the calamari could be made grilled. However when I got there the server said it could only be made fried and that grilled was not a possibility. Why would you give wrong information? I cannot eat fried food and was quite limited by their options since a lot of their seafood is deep fried. Also finally the website and the board at the entrance that that oysters were available. However once again when we went to order the server said that it is only on weekends. If something is not available all the time you should clearly state so on the board. Its very disappointing to try to order something and then say that is not available at that time. Most places would say weekends only etc. The tuna tartare was great. I dont want to saay the whole experience was poor. The server was also very friendly and kind. However I think that for a place that advertises itself as seafood, this experience was very lacking.
We had the pleasure of attending a wedding rehearsal dinner! Every single detail was executed perfectly. The service was amazing, the whole team was on point! The food, some of the best I ve had! The calamari, steak, broccoli dish, hummus, risotto, literally everything was made to perfection! I cannot wait to return!
AMAZING! The food, the atmosphere and the staff! Oysters, Clam Chowder, Fries with Garlic Aoili, Lobster Rice Balls, all to die for. Martin, has the voice of an angel. You are encouraged to sing along! My new favorite spot!
Great place if you re looking for amazing service, cozy vibes (+ outside heated patio), and great food. I ve probably been here 8-10 times and every time the service is great! Everyone from the owner (Joe?) to the servers is so welcoming and warm. I grabbed dinner here solo last night and they all checked in on me multiple times. I also love that they re open for lunch, as not many spots in Leslieville are! Food s amazing- I get the fries with garlic aioli every time. :)
The scallops were delicious. Wish the vegetables in the New England chowder weren t so crunchy. It s a soup they need to be more cooked. Loud and not great for conversation. Service was somewhat slow after we ordered. She barely came back to check on us and was more interested in turning over our table for the next seating, which she reminded us of like 3/4 times. After the 1st time I think we got it . In any case, the food is quite good and I will definitely be back just maybe not on a weekend evening.
Pleasant and different experience with the most welcoming wait staff, cozy environment and delicious and high quality food. Am happy to have discovered this gem and will definitely go back again. Had grilled octopus, tuna tartare for starters and scallops for main. All delicious, fresh and done to perfection.
Very fast service consider the restaurant was full, I really liked the freshly squeezed orange juice and thought it was reasonably priced for $5 considering a lot of places charge $8-$11 for that these days. Three different types of eggs Benny and respectable smash burger. Thanks!
Great food, reasonably priced drinks, perfect atmosphere. My only complaint was its a tad pricey for the portion sizes. Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian and vegan options Dietary restrictions: Gluten free, vegetarian, and vegan options available
Great lunch! Two people had the clam chowder and the third had fish and chips. All the food was excellent.
First time there. Service was friendly, efficient and helpful. The food was delicious. We had the clam chowder, fish and chips and salmon Tartare. Terrific lunch!
Loved our first experience visiting. Our food was excellent and everyone enjoyed their meal. We all loved to broccoli and calamari to start. The service was exceptional. We loved our server and topped off our goodbye with a hug. Looking forward to visiting again!
I had the scallops. Absolutely delicious.
Just had a great wedding dinner their for my daughter. They were so great in serving us .. plus Andrew was so friendly and understanding on the fact that my 15 month old grandson was their too lol food was great as well I will be going back just to enjoy the good food and nice people thank u for making our day special Andrew .. krystal-ann and Marg Parking: No troubles Kid-friendliness: Very great with kids
Love this place. Top-class food with excellent, knowledgeable, friendly staff. The wine list is eclectic and amazing!
Best brunch in the city
Great place for brunch on a Sunday.
When I come in from London, this is the only place I eat every time. Understated and out of town, it has the best food and friendliest staff you ll find anywhere in Toronto. Discovered it by accident, wish I could eat there every day!
We had a fantastic experience at the Eastside Social. Our party of 4 didn t have a reservation on a Friday night and the busy Eastside social was so accommodating and lovely. We had drinks by the bar while we waited for a table to become available and boy, let me tell you- they were so good! Dinner was fantastic, definitely order the eggplant crisps! The olives were nostalgic, tasted just like my uncles olives from Italy. Our mains (pictured) were very satisfying, big portions, and had so much flavour. Service was exceptional and so friendly - going above and beyond! Not to mention when we left, they still remembered our name. We would definitely recommend the Eastside Social and can t wait to come back! Thanks for having us!
Came here for a work holiday dinner and it was great! Service was attentive and food was on point!
Best donair I have had in 40 years. I like them with sweeter suace and thats how they serve them. Our waitress was great, very efficient and pleasant. I did not get her name but she had longish hair tied back. My wife had french toast and she thought it was great too!
Big patios (front and back) and good food.
Lovely patio, great food and service!
Amazing food and great service try the fish tacos!
Tasty food, good quality, pricey but worth it. My wife and I had lunch here and got: - Molasses Bread: OMG this alone would make me come back! The bread is homemade goodness, while the miso flavour of the butter really differentiates it. - Grilled Octopus: Octopus is a great test of how good a restaurant does seafood. Eastside Social kills it - great grill and char, with the meat ever-so-tender. Only downside is the portion size is really small for the price. - Fish and Chips: Haddock is meaty and the batter coating is tasty and not overly thick. Fries are thick and on the right side of saltiness, and the slaw is sweet and refreshing. Only quibble is I would have liked two pieces of fish for the price. - Mussell Frites: Undisputed star of the meal. Mussels were fresh and plentiful and perfectly cooked (not rubbery at all). The sauce was amazing (white wine that was spiced up with garlic and chili flakes). And of course, those yummy fries again. - Eastside Mess: Perfect capper to the meal, this dessert is summer on a plate. The lemon curd is properly sour, the berries are properly fresh, the meringue chunks add a pop of texture and sweetness, and the chantilly cream finishes it off. Service is quick and friendly, with great suggestions. Overall, Eastside Social was an absolute delight.
Delicious seafood. I would recommend the tuna poke bowl. It was an excellent medley of flavours and wonderful texture. The fish tacos we also a great choice. Can t wait to return for more great food.
Great food, atmosphere, service, and Marty!
Been a pandemic takeout favourite! Best fries in the east end

I cannot stress how much you need to go here!! Absolutely delicious food! Ive been a long time frequenter of this particular Eastend Toronto Restaurant, and in all my visits, Ive never been disappointed. My husband and I even had the pleasure of getting to know the owner Joey personally recently, when we elected to hold our intimate wedding dinner reception on Eastside Socials back patio. Joey was an absolute joy to work with, and created the perfect wedding menu for us and our guests. I received so many compliments after the fact on our choice of venue - everyone having thoroughly enjoyed the food! I cant thank you enough!
Fantastic Sunday brunch. Tacos are a must.
We showed up party of 4, no reservations on a Wed evening. Everyone from the proprietor to all the staff were amazing and accommodating and took care of us!! We had quite a run down the menu but special mention for the grilled octopus, steaks frites, lamb chops. It was an amazing evening with friends.
Great atmosphere! Great vibe! Great service (Jennifer)! Amazing octopus! Perfectly done steak. Tuna Poke bowl nailed the simple classic!
Nice little spot. Good homey food and excellent service.
Great food but really loud.
Great food and atmosphere. But it s the service that sets this place apart. You immediately feel welcome and leave wanting to come back.
