2057B Danforth Ave, Toronto, ON M4C 1J8, Canada
Bustling, British tin-ceiling pub with standard fare including wings & nachos & a full beer menu.
I love this place I’m there everyday after work! The food is on point, the front of house staff are phenomenal, Jacob Taylor Megan Daniel Aaron and Kevin are amazing! just like Olive Garden when your here you’re family
Coming from out of town, we randomly came across this pub and decided to get a late lunch/early dinner. Service was great, the waitress was very attentive and friendly. We asked for non alcohol drinks. Ran out of Ice Tea. OK, this happens. The food was not very good, tasteless meatballs (frozen perhaps microwaved). Chicken tenders were ok, but again frozen and no wow. Sauce tasted off. So, I asked for extra ketchup. 2 small packets were brought, and we were told there wasn't any more as the restaurant ran out. (How does a restaurant run out of Ketchup? Especially with a grocery store at the corner or a dollar store across the street) I think we expected more from the kitchen.
Absolutely, let’s turn up the heat and call out that behavior directly: Our group of 15 made a reservation hours in advance, and instead of being greeted with even a shred of decency, the BOH manager decided to berate us like we’d committed some unspeakable crime by showing up. They yelled at us, loudly, in front of everyone, claiming it “wasn’t cool” that we came in late at night. Sorry, what? We booked ahead. We came ready to spend money. And we’re the problem? Let’s be clear: this wasn’t someone having an off day. This was bullying, plain and simple. This manager went out of their way to make us feel unwelcome, embarrassed, and uncomfortable. It’s the kind of unprofessional, abusive behavior that ruins not just a night out, but the reputation of an entire business. This bar is a joke. Easily the worst Firkin in the city. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone unless you’re in the mood to be humiliated by someone who clearly has no business working in hospitality.
Kevin the manager was very pleasant and accommodating. He provided us with a separate party room for our group of 12 with a large tv to watch the football game. Megan our server was friendly and outgoing, she made sure we had all of our food and drinks and consistently checked in on us. Overall fantastic experience and we will all be back!
This is the best place to have a pre or after party if you are going to the Coal Mine theater. The staff is amazing. You might have a very good conversation if you really want. Their manager Kevin is super nice. Highly recommended!
Place was empty but the service was slow. Server took the kids order and forgot about the adults. As a result, the kids were done when our food arrived. I had to ask if we could eat something from the regular menu as opposed to brunch. Food was average, they seemed to be out of a lot of ingredients. Guy on a table beside us had to return the beer as it was warm. Bathroom hasn’t been cleaned in ages. Definitely do not recommend.
Thank you to the staff: A man with face tattoo's, who looked like he was on his way out, put down his bag, and escorted us to a seat with a big smile. We walked in with a group of 7 in the middle of what seemed like a very busy dinner service, expecting to have a long wait and yet we were served our drinks quickly and our food came about 20-25 minutes after we ordered it. I just wanted to remark to the management that your staff are wonderful people and well trained. I couldn't help but notice the negative reviews and I would like to put it out there: That for a PUB, this is a very well established restaurant, and there was nothing I could possibly think to complain about. Thank you for the good food, prompt and warm service, and the cold drinks.
I hate posting poor reviews. People have bad days, so do I. However, my ethics are to tell the truth and let the audience decide. I can only guess at what the problems were and as an ex-Process Improvement Consultant and stating thoughts or conclusions without proper info is not me. Okay, we both ordered Sheppard's pie. Both had a massive pile of potatoes (~80%) with the gravy, peas, corn and burger mixture on the bottom was less than 20%. 😞 The Waldorf coleslaw was poor, too much vinegar. We requested the coleslaw in addition to the veggies that came with the dish. This caused our server a fair amount of problems, attempt at saying no however we persisted. The slaw was included on another dish and we where happy to pay extra. In the end the vegetables that were suppose to be on the plate did not arrive. Just the slaw. The mango cucumber Tom Collins was good, however I don't go to bars, so $15 for a drink is hard to swallow. Finally when I shared our disappointment with both Sheppard's pie and the slaw, all I recieved was apologises from our server. No discount or waiving anything. And that was my final straw, and felt it important to leave the review.
The shepherd pie had almost no meat
Great place in the neighbourhood. Close to the subway. Patio in the summer. Chill vibes. Nice peer customers. Familiar Firkin menu. Has all your pub favourites. Also prompt and delicious service. Thank you kitchen! Tater tots. My life is tater tots and I love subbing them in on everything! They do them well here! Daniel, our bartender tonight, is an absolute stellar human. I watched this man efficiently hustle to manage a half full bar, solo, without missing a beat, all while being friendly and professional. Thank you!!
Good food and drink and clean bathroom and friendly staff.
Restaurant had 1 server running around, but after the HOUR wait for bacon and eggs, food came out cold and nothing was said about the extremely long wait. As a whole restaurant was not super clean, as well. This was the second time I have given this place a shot as I recently moved close to here, and last time the place was ALSO a disappointment with again SLOW service and cold food. Extremely Dissatisfied
Probably still there because the lease isnt up. Terminally empty. Cavanous space makes it depressing, fake UK decor with no atmosphere. Since there is nothing around that area a few people have no choice but to try it. When coal mine theatre empties 150 people on the street right by you and they would rather walk past coxwell to go out, you know something isnt working.
Jacob, Kevin, Aaron, and Kevin were such a delight! This location has the best burger on the East End - up there with Rudy! I suggest the Firkin Burger!! Kid-friendliness: Free kids meals with purchase of meal on the weekend! Nice! Wheelchair accessibility: Only one floor with a handicap accessible bathroom!
I worked in hospitality for years, so I hate leaving bad reviews for restaurants, but this place is awful and my advice to locals is to avoid it. We ve been before and it s never been great but today it took a nose dive. We went in with the kids at lunch as it said kids eat free on weekends . Turns out it was from 4-7pm only. The kids had already ordered drinks so I just ate the bait and switch and stayed. The food was so so, but insanely expensive. Pop was billed at $4 per pop. They forgot part of my daughter s meal and she never got her included dessert. The corn I got with my meal was burnt and stale. The whole thing cost $95 with tip (we didn t have any alcohol) FOR LUNCH. The icing on the cake was when I went to the washroom and there was dried puke stains on the toilet and the floors were filthy at midday. Not sure if the rent is getting them or what it is, but the whole experience was a disappointment.
Great service!
Me and a few of my friends went here last night. Jacob was our server and he was so amazing and sweet. I ordered the Shepard pie and it was just bitter and tasted like it was old. Jacob kindly let me switch to a burger and fries. They need to hire more staff it was so unfair how much work load was on Jacob from my point Me view. Later in the night we had a bartender named Taylor help us. So lovely and attentive, such amazing. These two staff members are wonderful. When the bill came I noticed I was charged for the Shepard pie and burger so I asked Jacob why and he said the manager told him I have to pay for both since I ordered both. I asked if I could speak to the manager because I barely had a bite and it was uneatable. Lovely Jacob went back to the manager and I guess he changed his mind and let Jacob take it off the bill. After paying I was on my way out when I over head the manager give a lady a glass of for free and he said its on the house because your order took a while . Our order was also extremely late but they were short staff so we understood but the part that s not ok if the argument of not taking the Shepard pie to begin with. Why give your staff a hard time when a customer didn t like it and when I asked to speak with him he didn t even come to our table. Very unwelcoming manager.
Food was hot and fresh and the drinks were both ingenuitive and very cold. Thank you for the prompt service and overall good experience. We will be back. Food : 5/5
Had an absolute great time here. Was looking for a perfect Guinness and I think this place is the spot. Kevin is one of the friendliest guys you will meet. Great ambience also with live music most Saturday nights.
Stopped here for lunch and had an amazing waitress who was very helpful with a few questions we had about their summer specials. The summer corn and peach salad was amazing! (Especially with blue cheese instead of goat) Vegetarian options: Many appetizers and pub food options are vegetarian. Theyre very clear too. (E.g. Poutine gravy is stated vegetarian. And French Onion soup says its beef broth.)
Weve lived right here for 5 years and never tried it, so we went today. I worked as a line cook for over a decade. I cut restaurants a lot of slack. Ive never complained about service ever, but this place was the worst restaurant Ive ever been to. Went today with kids. We were sat down, no waters, just empty glasses left on our tables. We had two young kids, we know they had a kids menu, it was even advertised outside. They handed my 3 year old an adult menu. We had to show them the online kids menu, they proceeded to tell us most of it wasnt available. He left after taking our orders, still never even gave us water. They took about 20 minutes to get us our drinks. Again, no water even. Ive never had service that didnt at least give you water in my life. The food was brought out by someone else, better than our server for sure. He at least got us water when we asked. Meal was terrible, tasted old and frozen. The kids were supposed to get ice cream with their meal, we even confirmed with the server after the mains, so we ordered a dessert to split between my spouse and I. They brought ours and not our kids. So we caught the other guy and asked about it and he at least brought it out a bit later, after our desert had melted. Like I said, Ive never complained, written a bad review or really ever had anything bad to say about people working in the service industry - but this was embarrasing. Over $100 for a meal way worse than Ive had at even McDonalds.
Great place! We came in with a group of twelve (they were busy), and they sat us right away. The food was great and the service was fast and efficient. Thank you Firkin! Food
There was only 1 other table in the restaurant and the waiter forgot our appetizers and brought out our mains of which 1 was wrong. He got it fixed, but really.... Also place needs a good clean, dead bugs on window sills and not exceptionally clean on floor and tables...meh!
I popped in last night for dinner with my daughter after work. Sometimes you dont feel like cooking.... I wish I did. My daughter had the chicken fingers and fries. And I had the fish and chips and a pint. . The food was disappointing, esp after how long it took to come to the table. You know how kids can get when they are hungry. Ill say thos though the only reason I am giving a good review is cause if the staff. We had a bartender I think hos name was Jake who was great.. I have worked in the service industry for years and never saw a kid work so hard and still keep a smile. He seemed to he the only one working the front of house, bar and patio. I dont know if they short staffed in the kitchen too but that would explain why the food took so long. Ill give the place another try cause of the staff and the fact its local. And maybe they were just short staffed that night. We will see....
Nice service, amazing food and a really great place
Stopped in for a quick dinner. With spouse and a child. Did not have high expectations as I know its bar food. Drinks are on average $15, for a small portion. Food is average. We had fish tacos, burger, chicken fingers and shrimp and calamari appetizer. All very basic. Bill for 2 alcoholic drinks, 2 adult meals, 1 kid meal and 1 appetizer with tip was just under $200. Will not be returning even though we local to the area. Kinda disappointed because I would have to have a place in walking distance that served decent bar food.
Aidan, Daniel and the red head (I m truly sorry I forgot her name) have been absolutely amazing. As a black woman, I can wholeheartedly say that the staff here have treated me with the utmost respect. This is why I come back.
On patio ,
Enjoyed my Shepherds Pie.
I recently booked a reservation for a group function. There was a bit of a glitch when making the reservation for a large group, but overall, I found Firkin on Danforth accommodating and accessible. They have main, intimate, and patio dining areas fashioned with high and low tables and beautiful large windows. They also offer various food items for vegetarians and meat lovers and are wheelchair accessible. One of the major advantages of Firkin on Danforth is its convenient location, just a 2-minute walk from Woodbine subway station. Additionally, the venue offers several parking options, making it easily accessible for guests. I enjoyed my meal, and many of our guests did the same. The staff were professional, friendly and patient. Its a perfect place to go if youre craving a British-style lunch or dinner and a clean atmosphere!
Great food! Great service! I would have given 5 stars, but I was in there around 1pm with my daughter, and although the music they were playing was fine, it was the uncensored versions, lots of f- bombs and shes very sensitive about it. I get that its a pub, though, so no censorship is needed, but I wouldnt recommend the restaurant for families with kids.
Came here for a lovely evening drink, couldn t even get that as no staff even acknowledged me as I sat at the bar. I left after 15-20 minutes of waiting. I did overhear a lady complain to a bartender about how they have been here for 40 minutes and nobody acknowledged them and that their table was dirty. Seemed to be a common theme as I saw plenty of tables with dirty glasses still on them. Really wanted to try this place out but won t return even with friends. Feels this place needs better staff or have them trained in customer service.
The first time I came I ordered dirty martinis and at the end I saw I was charged for grey goose instead of bar rail vodka (more expensive) I asked the bartender if they use grey goose for martinis and she said whoops my mistake and fixed my bill .. ok. I came back a month later and ordered the steak special and I asked for a medium rare they gave it to me more than well done I ll attach a photo. Anyways they took it back and gave me another steak. It was the worst steak I ve ever had. Like I just don t get this place. Not coming back.
Was a huge disappointment. Thought it was part of the Firkin bars.....its not..over priced , double fried , lunch room food, served by a bearded man wearing a oversized tank top with hairy armpits exposed. Brought a date there so embarrassing.
I brought my brother here because I had a good experience here before, so I wanted him to try it. We waited an HOUR long. It was embarrassing and humiliating. I don t know why, but waiters and waitresses were avoiding eye contact when we tried calling them. They attended the huge table beside us. It is Understandable, but keeping us wait for an hour, maybe even more? Preposterous. Ever since then, we never came back. We should have left as soon as possible. I told my friends and family about this and recommended not going into this branch. Moreover, food was mid. My brother ordered his steak medium rare, he got it well-done. I ordered fish and chips, fish was dry and fries were unseasoned. Seriously? It is overpriced too. Again, embarrassing and humiliating.
I came to this place few days ago, the food and the hospitality given by their staff was absolutely amazing. Our server was very attentive and quick at the service as well. Definitely coming back. highly recommendable place.
I liked it here the good, drink, and service were terrific a great discovery!
We walked in and the waitress gave us the worst look and walked away. We have to sit our serves. We had to wait 10min to get served and there were maybe 4 other costumers. She did not want to speak to us. Kept giving us horrible looks. When we ordered our drinks the lime was hold and rotten. And she said well our limes are out of session!!!! We got appetizers shrimp with 5 pieces in it! The worst waitress I have ever met. Completely ruined our evening. We just left with our unfinished meals and drinks. Would never go back
Nice atmosphere and the server Shoni was very friendly, awesome service food is great had a good experience. I will come back here again, this is place to come by and have a few drinks.
It s clean. It s good. But expensive. But it s clean and good which is better than anything else nearby.
Great service. Love the bartenders
Very friendly staff. Plenty tvs for sports lovers too. Great music.
Really, really French onion soup!
Shonee was super awesome!!
Shonen is the best. Service with a smile
went on a tuesday so there wasnt much vibe going on.
The foods awesome!! The people are great!! Highly recommend!! Kid-friendliness: We are a family of 5.
Vegetarian and meat lovers pizza on special - amazing!
Not sure why the reviews put this place down so much. The establishment is fine for a pub hangout. Staff were friendly and cracked a few jokes with our group. We enjoyed our visit. Food is consistent with other firkin locations and good for groups looking for pub food. I appreciated the range on the tap selection. Everything from domestics to Belgian imports. Especially the addition of Duvel and La Chouffe on the menu.
Great neighbourhood pub, for either a meal or just some drinks at the bar. Friendly service!
A friend held their retirement party here last night. What a great night, the server was amazing. She was attentive and efficient with the orders and managed to serve the whole party by herself. We had the separate events room off to the side and it was the perfect size. The whiskey sour was delicious.
Excellent Chicken Wings
Had a great time there with some friends from out of town. Wings were good, had salt and pepper and teriyaki. Nice clean place, they put the volume on the hockey game on over music, which I appreciated.
Yummy food will be back for more. Steak Pie is so good. Recommended dishes Plant-Powered Burger with Tater Tots
way too much ice in the drinks! especially for the price of them! decent food, decent service :)
No sitting room upon arrival. Seated where trivia games were going to be held and literally forgotten about
Shonee continues to be absolutely amazing...working solo in a very full bar on a Monday...and is chipper and friendly...who is like that on Monday
The Cobb salad was excellent. My companions all enjoyed their meal. The waiter was excellent. He was the only waiter in the whole pub that day and he took it in stride and did a wonderful job. I would definitely go back.
Great place located on Danforth and Woodbine. The place has a good vibe and the service is excellent!!!
Great food. My favorites are the fish tacos and dry ribs.
If you re looking for a place to watch sports and enjoy some good food and drink, Firkin on Danforth is a great place. It hasn t been overly busy when I ve been there. The staff have always been great and the food is solid, and reliable. I like their Shepherds Pie.
Service was great, food was very good, prices were good.
I had the pork schnitzel from the menu, which was super delicious. Wanna go back for this definitely!
chilled out place to wind down on weekends specially... vibrant atmosphere and bang on the main road...
Wings were outstanding.
Had a fantastic experience with Shawny, gave us our favourite table for leafs game
Serve was Awesome!! Super nice and food arrived super fast. 10/10 would recommend
Great time amazing, our waitress shauny was excellent
Shonnie was the most hospitality, she was amazing waitress and I would highly recommend going there when she is on duty.
Shonnie was awesome. Holding the fort down on her own. Cheers. GLG!
Though the food was very good, our experience was decidedly not great because of the service. We had to flag down the waitress for more drinks and water (it wasn t busy - she was more interested in conversation on the other side of the bar). She threw down the coasters and placed the drinks sort of in the direction of the person who d ordered, but no effort to place in front of. She made no effort to take away finished plates or glasses until we asked her to. Then we had to ask another waiter to tell her we were ready for the bill. It was hockey play off night and all the screens showed the game, but one fellow at the bar asked if one screen could show the baseball game. I don t know why it was denied as it certainly wasn t busy and he was the only one sitting facing that screen except me, and I had the baseball on my iPad because when I d called in earlier I was told it would be too busy with hockey fans. We hadn t been to the Firkin since pre Covid, but live in the area and used to go fairly often. We ll be looking for another nearby venue for future sports events.
Awesome place, friendly and peaceful atmosphere, ordered the Juicey Firkin burger and a salad with sweet potato fries I was impressed, REALY REALY GOOD, we will definitely be back again
I had a very strange experience it was a Monday night (they were supposed to be closed as I later discovered) but the open sign was still illuminated and the door was unlocked. They stayed open late because of the Toronto Maple leafs playoff game. When I went in I got a weird look from the bartender woman and even from a couple of the customers like almost like what are you doing here? And then she said yeah were closing soon I which I didnt understand like do you close at 11 PM or what? Eventually clarified that there already supposed to be closed and theyre closing after the game. So I managed to get a couple of beers as the game just ended and other customers still finishing up. The bartender really turned around her attitude and it ended very well after a rough and confusing start. I did Not eat as the kitchen was closed so no comments about the food. The atmosphere was pretty lame but it was a Monday night.
The nachos are a definite downer in terms of portion size, and the poutine was unappetizing. Worst of all was the unsanitary washroom conditions. Wont be back.
Absolutely disgusting. The place smells and there are mice running around. Sauces taste sour ( probably way past date) Food
I stopped by on a whim and I was glad I did, the food was great and the service was also very great. Would recommend to everyone I know. Thanky.ou for the great time.
What a great place to go. We went for trivia night! It was such a great experience.
The food is really good and atmosphere is amazing.
This place was awesome!! Great service! Drinks were mixed just right and made fast! Absolutely loved the atmosphere!
My FAV spot whenever I want great food and good vibes. The owner is so accommodating and just a lovely person.
Friendly service, nice chill vibe and atmosphere. Came with some co workers Friday night and had a lovely time with a great table a space for my daughter s stroller.
Had a great experience here! The owner is a great guy, the bar is a great place to go get a bite to eat, watch a game, socialize. 100% will be going back!
Recently we went to the Firkin on Danforth for dinner. I was greet by friendly staff and our drink order was immediately taken. The atmosphere was clean and had a modern industrial vibe - staff were clearing tables and cleaning when not serving. The bathrooms were top notch! Food was great and what I d expect from a Firkin. The manager came by to check on us and even made suggestions for the next time we came in. I would definitely come back
Amazing food and great service
Saw a roach on the floor
Great atmosphere, i had a beer at the bar and was welcomed by all the costomers and employees! Fantastic experience!
Wonderful place to eat enjoyed the atmosphere and the food !
Great restaurant phenomenal service excellent food fast and very polite professional service very clean atmosphere!! I d give this place more stars if I could great for family, great for parties, great for events!! I recommend this place to everyone I know!! Check it out!
Perfect spot to sit down and enjoy a meal. The space is very clean. The food is delicious and the service is great. The owner is also fantastic!
A spot I love to come to with friends to unwind, have a drink, and a bite! Service is always welcoming and just an overall great vibe.
Overpriced mediocre pub food. Understaffed bar for Tml game.
Went in for lunch and had the pub salad with chicken. The roasted beets, pumpkin seeds and goat cheese pair so well together. Taylor was also very attentive and helpful. Would recommend.
Wings were raw & im sure I saw a mouse. This place needs a deep clean!! Edit: I appreciate your response back. I can ensure you that the alleged mouse dropped from the ceiling on to the bar when I was sitting down at a table. I informed the waitress on duty who told me that she brought it to the owners attention and no actions were taken beyond that. Not only were my chicken wings raw, I can not believe a mouse fell down. Consider using a better pest control company or tell them to come in more frequently.
Not a good experience. Dirty!
I went with a group of friends had great, fast service, they have kind employees. We spoke with the line cook Michael for food allergy reasons, he was very nice and the food was amazing. Definitely would recommend for a fun night out with friends. Dietary restrictions: One of my friends has a allergy to gluten and the kitchen took her allergy very seriously.
Had a great time with my girlfriends here :)
Firkin on the Danforth has to be my favorite branch! The place is clean, staff are friendly and the food is good! 10/10. Def repeat:)
I dined here Friday evening with my two twin sons who are toddlers. The server was extremely accommodating and ordered the kids dishes according to their liking. I really appreciate how he addressed and interacted with my kids. Despite it being very busy, he was efficient and very professional throughout. We had to wait some time for our meals, but to his credit, the server gave a heads up that there was a backlog due to the televised Leafs game. Food was amazing. Thank you Nyon and Firkin staff! Kid-friendliness: Love that the kids menus are colourable and that stuff have crayons ready.
This place is awful. I was here recently and it took over a half hour to get a drink and I was at the bar! Their excuse was that they were training new staff but this is not the first time I ve had the same experience with the same excuse. The cleanliness of this place seems to be going downhill as well. The floors are greasy and the bathrooms are filthy
I love the firkin on danforth it is my go to place. However last time I was there my server maddy, made my experience a whole new level of amazing. She was kind caring, and actually listened to me and accommodated me perfectly for my dietary restrictions. She also recommended what to eat, which were all amazing suggestions. She gave me the best service I ve ever had, and I will be returning again and asking for her.
Ive been to this establishment on several occasions, and both the food and service has been amazing! I recommend the FIRKIN BURGER, FISH TACOS, or even the FISH & CHIPS! The atmosphere is great, and the employees give great customer service! I definitely would recommend!
Great place to dine-in. Aside from the amazing food, people are great and friendly. Will definitely come back.
Friendly staff. Good food
I love coming to the Firkin they are always so friendly. They allow dogs on their patio which is great. I love being able to take our dog for a walk and not have to worry about where we can go and get lunch or dinner. Definitely will be back during the summer to enjoy the patio.
This is my first time here and the customer service I got was absolutely awesome plus the food was absolutely out of this world. I ordered nachos and was better than I expected. Will be back plus Ill recommend this restaurant to eat at.
Had my fathers celebration of life here. Kevin and his team made the day amazing going out of their way to make sure everything was taken care of and special. Thanks
I love stopping in here when I can, either for a bite or a drink, or both. The food is so tasty and satisfying and they always have such a great selection of beers on tap, good cocktails too. I especially love having a Sangria on the front patio in the summer. They have this lovely wooden patio with beautiful, bright flowers right out front so you can people watch, catch some sun (or shade under the umbrellas), and feel like youre in some tropical place . Inside has a cool vibe, with Firkin art on the walls, spacious and always has great music playing. I love the wooden wrap around bar, right in the middle of the joint. The staff is great, especially the owner, he always has a big smile and gives such a friendly welcome. Cant wait to go back! Vegetarian options: Very good tasting vegetarian options and quite a few of them. Kid-friendliness: Family place, welcomes kids
I Had My Birthday Party Here and it was an Amazing Experience!!! Thank you to Manager and All Staff!!! Highly Recommend!!!
The Firkin on Danforth has been a staple in the Woodbine and Danforth community for over ten years. One of the few businesses I the Food and Beverage industry who managed to survive Covid. Thank you Carmelo and team for your hospitality.
The service was slow, mistakes in our order. Even the waiters were friendly and give us apologies I feel like they can improve. Updated: the owner give us apologizes for the inconvenience and take our feedback, as a customers we appreciate that. Besides that, my review about our experience will be the same, I do not like the food too salty for me and my husband, the waitress didn t offer in the first place the wrong plate, we asked her to leave it to avoid the waiting time of preparation of a new different plate ( it wasn t a long time waiting, but we where there with kids) , the cocktails were awesome I do recommend them and at the end of the night, even that the manager went to speak with me and apologies to us, to me and my point of view as a customer was that our friends visiting from other country, first time here in Toronto and as dinner we where hosting I feel bad that these was their experience, I have to apologies to them because if the situation. I do think that there s space to grow and taking this as a opportunity to do it better with all the respect and all the hard work the restaurant put it everyday. We wish nothing but the best, hope it helps to the staff. Thank you for your service and understanding.
Having been going here for years but was left waiting for 30 minutes to get my bill and was only served when I was the only one left in the bar also didnt even get a napkin when I ordered wings never mind a wipe Wont be back Food
Fantastic staff and food was absolutely delicious! Highly recommend for neighborhood night out! The chef brought a cheesecake that was new and it was the best cheesecake I ever ate (and I dont even like cheesecake lol). Friendly staff and owner. Great atmosphere.
Best Firkin in Toronto
Went for a glass of wine and salad before a play last night . They had NO white wine in stock. Nada. I ordered the Kale Caesar salad. No kale in stock!. I had the salad with romaine lettuce instead. Very blah. The buffalo cauliflower was tasty but would have been much crispier with the buffalo sauce on the side as it made the batter soggy. The servers were very good.
Nice menu and good food with pet friendly tables on the front.
Good food and cocktails! I recommend it.
Great meatless burger. Staff is super friendly. They went out of their way to host a retirement party for my co-worker.
Best thing was the live a Band Food
We were traveling from Nova Scotia and wanted a place to eat and have a drink with family. It was a very positive experience from beginning to end. Our server Aiden was very attentive and professional. He made sure we always had what we needed. Food
Pretty decent place with good atmosphere and nice service.
This place sucks
Cheap food and drinks.
Not bad
Happened to stumble across this cozy little spot while walking along the danforth the other day... and oh boy I m glad I did! What was even better then the crisp beer and comforting atmosphere was the warm service of my waitress Madeline. I was welcomed in with a big smile and open arms, making me feel as if I was right at home. I now plan to return to the firkin for not only the delicious food, convenient location, and pleasant ambiance; but for the gracious and attentive service provided by Madeline and her team.
Its fine. Ive been left waiting for over 20 minutes on an empty day and left. Ive been served well otherwise Food : 4/5
The go to place for our guys get together!! Parking: Well hidden Green P lot just east of Woodbine, once you are parked cut through the alley back to Woodbine. Food : 5/5 |
Good place for a good night with a friend. Had a good time. Food is decent. Great service. Cheers
Waiter got our drinks wrong. Food wasnt that good. Staff seemed a bit out if it.
Despite some negative comments from one or two community members, my partner and I decided to try the Firkin on Danforth a few days ago. We were both pleasantly surprised by both the food and the service. Both were excellent!
Very friendly staff.
Good reasonably priced pub grub, friendly service
Great place to eat, and hangout for some lunch or dinner. The food is amazing, and the cocktails are great too. The Beyond Chicken Tender were amazing, and the Sammie Chicken Sandwich was great from what my girlfriend told me. Big shout-out to Mike, he was very welcoming, helpful with menu choices, and made the experience great.
Stay away. Stay far far away. We had been to this Firkin before and had a lovely time at the bar. So we thought we would try it again. What a disaster. Waitress came up with no notepad and then found some scrap of something to write on, firstly reviewing her previous tables order and jotting that down. The waiter that brought our appetizers literally shoved them on the table so that some calamari fell off the plate and onto the table. About 2 minutes before our mains are ready, they come out and tell us that they dont have any tacos for the fish tacos. Like you JUST realized this? We re-order fish and chips and they tell us that will be ready in 1-2 minutes. Sounds like the microwave is working I guess. The rest of our mains come out. We watch the staff have a laugh at the bar while 3 of us have our meals and the other still waits. Then our waitress reminds the waiter to check on our other meal. The place was practically empty so it was not like anyone was busy with other tables. Beers were empty and no one was checking on refilling them. The food was mediocre at best. And not cheap. 4 of us for $176. There are WAY too many restaurants in this city and nearby on the Danforth to ever go here again.
Great place, awesome food, lovely people
Lovely afternoon drinks on the patio. Shoutout to Ian our server! You made our stay a great one, thank you
The advertising was FALSE. On their patio/sidewalk, they have Steam Whistle advertising on top of their sandwich boards, so I automatically assumed I would be able to order a couple of tall boy cans of Steam Whistle to go, along with food. I ordered the food, and later found out that the only Steam Whistle they had was off of the Tap. I then gave staff, a server my intention to cancel the order. I never paid for this order, and walked away. Terrible customer choices.
Friendly staff, outside seating, food was ok - general pub grub, good drinks selection
Friendly staff, good pub food, reasonably priced. Worth a visit.
Its a reliable Firkin like many others
Its a decent place but the service leaves something to be desired. Staff seemed eager to close for the night, rushing customers and turning away others even though it was 10:30 on a Saturday night.
Food was great but the atmosphere was pretty sterile.
I go here often for the awesome wings (hot but full of flavour/crispy not soggy) and incredible service my favourite server by far is Shonee, she has the gift of gab and is a pleasure to speak with. She s someone who clearly loves what she does and loves people. I often stop in by myself but never feel alone. Highly recommend Firkin on Danforth!
Great experience shawny is a awesome waitress very good staff
Beer selection not so good. Bartender not very friendly. Place had a funky smell to it.
Love it here, I come here for Taylor and I ve just met Ian and he seems amazing as well! Lovely service!
Fish and chips was A1
Great food. Server was very attentive and meal was reasonably priced.
Great service and an awesome menu but its missing the pool table
Very friendly people, food is amazing and nice beer.
Food was great, only one server when I went. Shes a trooper! Leave tips for exceptional servers people.
This was the worse firkin we have ever been too and will never be back .our first time at this location and it was awful we waited 15 min for our drinks because the girl helping us clearly was new and couldnt make them .there were 4 people in the entire bar and the 3 people working were doing absolutely nothing .We order the chips they took over 30 minutes and were not even warm then when are food arrived my wifes macs an cheese had no kettle chips crushed on them and had a terrible smell it tasted awful we returned it .luckily the Sheppard pie was great and I shared it with my wife .Terrible location such a shame because it was our closest location to us
What a breath of Fresh air! I met up with a few friends for dinner 2 weeks ago and I was the first one to arrive. Upon entering the bartender immediately greeted me and within seconds a young gentleman approached me and seated me immediately. Within a matter of seconds, water was brought to my table for me an my guest and where prompted if we had any questions with regards to the menu. Our waiter took the time to clarify some of our questions and explain the various beers they cater and let me tell you , we weren t disappointed with the suggestions. We placed our order for drinks and food ( main courses and a few apps) . The drinks came within a blink of an eye, and so did the apps. When the food was delivered, the waiter explained to us what dish was what and when our main courses came we were pleasantly surprised at the generous portions and presentation. The food was fresh, tasty and hot. Throughout our dining experience, our waiter ( I believe his name was Carmello) would periodically check in on us, refilled our waters and catered attentively to each and all our individual needs. Overall, the atmosphere was extremely pleasant, we felt quite at ease and thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and our Experience at the Firkin. The staff was very welcoming, attentive, and even sparked up some conversation with us which made the environment much more inclusive. Upon leaving we noticed that they occasionally host Trivia night that happen to be a few days later. We all decided to return and partake in this fun event. To our surprise, our server greeted us at the door, and though many days went by since our last visit, our waiter remembered us ! This may not seem like a big deal but I grew up in a small town in Europe where everyone knows each other and never experienced this in my many years in Toronto. You could tell that this restaurant is run on pride and they sincerely go out of their way for a wholesome experience. Trivia night was a blast , and learned quite a lot. We will certainly be back as we have now found our new favorite neighborhood spot with great food, drinks, outstanding atmosphere and above all the quaint friendly and welcoming atmosphere one would expect. Kuddos to the staff at the Firkin, we appreciate you!
A really lovely place with a great vibe! The dinner scene is really lovely as the servers bring out little candles in glass cups. Food was very good and reasonably priced.
We enjoyed our meals. I had the Big Blue burger which was excellent. My wife had the pub salad and liked it quite a bit. The kids had chicken strips and fish and chips. My son thought the fish and chips were very good and hes pretty much an old British man. Kid-friendliness: They have a good kids menu with a word search puzzle that kept the kids engaged while waiting for their food.
Server ignored us the entire time to wait on other tables was friendly and nice to all other patrons except for our table which included people of colour while she waited endlessly on all the white people. It was definitely due to the fact we were a group of 6 people because she knew she could charge us an automatic gratuity. Will never come back Editing after response I read other reviews and seen that people had the same experience, maybe it indeed wasn t our race but that s how it felt seeing as how easy it was for you to remember us as everyone else was white right ? Was that you at the bar drinking and throwing your middle finger up?? Anyways as I said we won t be back, we also thought it was strange that after recognizing the cup was dirty she just got another cup and poured it in but sure go off. We struggled to get her attention to order a second round. And we were laughing because we enjoyed the company of each other and the fact we all were thinking the same thing why isn t our server paying attention to us ?! You counted how many times she checked on us. I disagree with that number but maybe count how many times she checked on everyone else. The guy who brought out food and refilled our water left more of a positive lasting impression than she did in the 2 mins he was around us.
Celebrated my birthday in the side room and had such a great time. The staff were friendly, the platters were great and overall had a fun night. Would definitely recommend if youre looking for a space to host a party.
Great spot on the danforth other than the quite rude bartender. Who yelled at me today! I called ahead and ordered a chicken pesto club and I always get it on a wrap. I get there its on sandwich bread which, i sent it back. Theb she comes over and says well on the phone you said club. Ive been going there eating this for the past year. They know me well. So the fact that she talked to me like that Im out right disappointed. You do not treat costumers that way!
Disappointing experience. Arrived at 8pm starving after a funeral service. As soon as you walk in the smell hits you like walking into a deep fryer..so bad it makes your eyes water... Waitress was not pleasant or friendly at all. We ordered our food (4 of us) nothing too complicated either.. well 1 order of wings came out at 830pm. Very small however the person did enjoy them. No other food was brought out. No cutlery brought out.. Waitress said will be a while longer as they are serving by room? Ya they were serving the private party instead of main area. Note the main area was quiet maybe 2 other tables. Anyway 45mins goes by finally get our food no apology for the wait no explanation...food was awful but at this point was too hungry and tired.. was not able to eat it as was incredibly salty. Maybe was an off day not sure but I will never return.
Sheppards pie is on point.
Love this Firkin location! Whenever Shoni is working the service is incredible! She s also so friendly and easy to talk to. I loved the pretzels and veggie tacos, would recommend to everyone!
Nothing interesting going on here. Boring, bland, flat beer
I had a perfect evening at the firkin Shonee is the freaking bomb! She made my evening! Burger was yummy.
I came with some coworkers on Friday December 16th 2022 we were maybe 20 people. I appreciate them accommodating us. However service was super slow as our server was serving a party of 55 as well by herself? Not sure if this is the norm here or they are understaffed. Took awhile for us to take our order and recieve our items. My friend ordered fish and chips and you guys dont serve tartar or ketchup without us asking? Not once did the server check on us to see if we enjoyed our food. My other friend had to ask 2 different staff members about where his meal was. He recieved at least 45 mins to an hour after we had ordered and server admitted to forgetting to punch it in. Not once did a member of the management team come over to apologize to our table and worse to comes to worse you have the audacity to charge him for the burger for a mistake you made? I have been to other firkin locations with much better service . You can do better.
