Breakfast sandwiches and burgers
One of the best breakfast sandwich I had so far! We tried both Gold Standard Breakfast Sandwich in Kale and Bacon and wow both are so sooo good! Putting this place now on my go to list and favorites!!!
Tasty but overpriced for what is essentially a slider sized breakfast sandwich. I saw the line and thought it was worth a try; (expect a at least 20 min wait, or come at an off time). But was disappointed with a small soggy sandwich.
Unassuming little takeout counter for some of the BEST breakfast sandwiches ever!!!! So happy to have discovered this spot!
Gold Standard Burger has quickly become my go-to spot for great burgers in the area. The juicy, perfectly cooked patties are a flavour explosion in every bite. The buns are soft and fresh, holding up perfectly to the flavourful toppings. The service is friendly and efficient, adding to the overall positive experience. Whether you're grabbing a quick bite or enjoying a leisurely meal, Gold Standard Burger is something to hold close for days you crave burgers.
A simple take out place with small but amazing selections. We ordered their burger and their gold standard breakfast sandwich and both were delicious. Efficient service but at times, you must be prepared to wait as it gets busy. Friendly staff and would definitely recommend this place.
I had the golden standard breakfast sandwich. It was really good! It's definitely a litter smaller than i expected, to be honest. They wait was like about 10 mins on a busy Saturday morning.
Cute little hole in the wall and great use of space for a take-out spot. The bacon breakfast sandwich was delicious with nice light egg, pickles and sauce. Street parking can be hard to find during busy hours and $10 for just the sandwich is a bit steep.
Delectable breakfast sandwich. Runny egg scrambled with cheese and the perfect blend of salt/fat/acid/heat along with crispy bacon. The Gold standard is literally the gold standard. Fresh squeezed juice maybe a tad pricy but it was good too. We tried the tangerine. Take out only counter service, could be a bit quicker but it's made with love and worth the wait.
The Alternative is my favourite breakfast sandwich around. It s also great with an egg added. It can be a bit of a wait if you order in store so I suggest ordering ahead.
Best breakfast sandwhich and one of the best burgers in the city. Vegetarian options: They have a couple. Impossible meat options Dietary restrictions: Vegetarian options available Kid-friendliness: Lots of kids. Great after game spot. Short walk from Saurauren park Wheelchair accessibility: It s ground level. Walk/wheel up window service only
Love this place and the breakfast sandwiches are the best Ive had. Forever trying to replicate this at home..no success yet
Definitely lives up to being the best breakfast sandwich in the city!
the review is in the name of the establishment
Amazing breakfast sandwiches. Never go to A&W or McD or Timmy s again!!
The impossible burger will turn a carnivore into a vegetarian. The service is also impeccable. Kudos to the staff and owners.
Great, straight ahead, great spoon burger.
If you dont tip 20% they will keep bumping your order behind others. Took 45 mins and everyone who ordered after me was long gone.
At its best - the breakfast sandwich is fine. At its worst (which I m starting to think is most of the time) - the sandwich is a scrambled egg on a soggy English muffin, with some hot sauce. This place taught me to put pickles on a brekky sandwich though, so I love them for that.
i really enjoy all the sandwiches here and the staff are very friendly and quick! my only complaint is that compared to the other location on queen, the quality is not as consistent, and you don t always get a sandwich that was as good as the one you had yesterday, but i ve never had a bad or even mediocre experience here! i d definitely recommend this place but if for whatever reason you have the choice between the two locations i d go with the queen one.
had a great breakfast sandwich at this place. Hole in the wall but a short walk to High Park so ate it there and it was fantastic.
Cutsey place but food is meh at best and they ll charge you an arm and a leg for effectively a slider. Also the freshly squeezed juice is bottled and costs $7
Been here before and it was awesome, but this time I waited 40 mins for a burger that lacked taste, seasoning, and was kinda soggy.. there was 5 people in line ahead of me, but 40 mins is a lot for a burger on a bun with some onions and pickles .. Rating 2 stars instead of 1 because they issued a refund after getting my order wrong and remaking it lol
Simply delicious, even if the sandwiches are a bit messy.
A cute little hidden gem serving one of the best breakfast sandwiches in the city!
The vegetarian sandwich is with beyond meat and is so good.
One-of-a-kind breakfast sandwiches. Top-notch quality. Crispiest bacon! Be prepared for a line at any given time because this place is just THAT popular! Vegetarian options: The impossible melt is amazing! Sautéed onions is where its at!
Top tier breakfast sandwich in Roncy, tucked right behind the corner coffee shop. Made fresh to order in a timely manner, lovely service and quality ingredients.
I mean, its a breakfast sandwich. The kind of thing you could easily make at home with a YouTube tutorial. Its okay, but its not special.
Limited menu, but solid sandwich. If the English muffin could be substituted for a biscuit or something else, I think it would be much better!
Spectacular breakfast sandwich with the right amount of spice and flavour. The eggs had the right amount of balance, not too dry and not too moist. Will be coming back again for another one. The service was great as well, polite, personable and quick. Highly recommend for a quick snack!
One of Roncesvalles best kept secrets, this literal hole in the wall is easy to miss. Ive attached a picture of how unassuming this takeout window appears from the main road so that you can treat yourself next time you are in the neighbourhood. Very small, simple menu. Everything is amazing.
this was one of the most amazing breakfast sandwiches i ever had
Had the breakfast sandwich with bacon, very yummy! very greasy!
Very dissappointed, ordered at 12:45, waited 30 mins and when I questioned where it was, received a very rude and dismissive response that my name had not been called yet. When questioned again at nearly 40 mins, it was clear the teller didn t even know my name and they never processed the order. I was of course charged though. Never received my food and when they asked if I just wanted a refund, I said I would prefer my food as it s my lunch hour and was told they have too many orders to now fulfil mine? Unbelievably poor service with no accountability or willingness to rectify when it became evident the mistake was on their behalf. Doesn t matter how good the food apparently is, service is appalling.
I brought my sister when she was visiting Toronto from Ireland but still working at home. She had one precious 1 hour for lunch that we could share together and we decided to go to gold standard. We ordered the two standard sandwiches from their small menu. But at least we assumed we would get these fast and be able to share some time together. When we ordered we said we would wait inside reunion coffee and were told by the male cashier that they had a whole system and not to worry. 30 minutes later we saw nearly everyone else who was standing behind us have food but not us. My sister went to go check what was going on and the femme cashier was really rude to them and basically told them to back off and wait their turn. Even though our turn was clearly before many other people who were already served. 10 minutes later I went out to try understand what was happening and still no food. They told us they were too busy and could not give us our order. We spoke about how it was not appropriate to waste nearly an hour of a patrons time with no apology and leave people without food. They admitted that their printer malfunctioned and didnt print our order but they arent going to do anything about it. They then offered a refund ( the literal least they could do) with a sarcastic apology and we said we just really wanted the food which my sister would then have to eat back at her desk. They said they were too busy and couldnt give it to us. While being incredibly dismissive and rude. I have worked in the service and hospitality industry for over 10 years as a chef in a spectrum of restaurants/ cafes and I have genuinely never experienced the dismissive behavior that they showed today and would be appalled if any establishment I worked in treated our customers like this. I would usually not be someone that leaves a review because I understand how hard the industry can be. But for the standard of their small sandwiches and how they felt they could treat customers, it reeked of privilege of easy good reviews and not feeling like they have any owness to the care given to customers. These are greasy sandwiches at the end of the day. Not high dining. Its not my first time having an unpleasant experience with the service given there but this was certainly just a really truly awful one which stole precious time I had to share a meal with my sister They returned a refund but kept the 20% tip we had given.
Yummy breakfast sandwich, and a cozy spot to eat it. There are also many parks in the area to eat the sandwich, and a cafe beside it to get coffee or tea
A takeout place for breakfast sandwiches. The food was of good quality but I feel there is untapped potential of Innovation. A little seating would be nice to have since there is an empty space around. Would come back hoping the menu changes :)
I love their burgers!!!! Simple and delicious!!!
I just had a teeny tiny $11 breakfast sandwich
fantastic burgers!
Everything on the menu is delicious. Messy and probably fattening. Not cheap but real food and tasty Atmosphere : 5/5
The breakfast sandwich is delicious.
Excellent place
Delicious breakfast sandwiches.
Frankly one of the best breakfast sandwiches in the city. Amazing impossible ground veg option. Usually busy and a bit of a wait but worth it.
Tried the bacon breakfast sandwich and felt like the price was a bit steep for a such a small sandwich. First time having pickles in a breakfast sandwich but It actually went well together. I probably wont be back as the price is too steep but Im glad I tried it.
Awesome little take out window. Limited menu but its kinda nice to see a spot that has equal vegetarian and meat representation. My breakfast sandwich was great! Nice fluffy egg, savoury English muffin, and a thick slice of bacon. Plus Im a pickle lover. Coleslaw wasnt the best (unrelated to the problem, but its a vinegar based) but overall I enjoyed my meal. It gets super busy on the weekends so try it on a weekday when youve got the time.
Possibly the best breakfast sandwich in the city - a must try
Genuinely the best breakfast sandwich Ive ever had
Love the fact that they sell tangerine juice here. The breakfast sandwich was alright and the burger was like a McDouble
The person working today at the window was an actual angel :))) Ive had prickly service here in the past that made me leave with my head hung like the charlie brown/george michael bit in arrested development, but the sweet one with the blue bandana today made me and my friends morning :)) we literally were blocks away still singing their praises. thank you for being so kind! the sandwich rocked as always!
I had the breakfast sandwich and my wife had the Telway burger. Both were good. Service was fast.
I ordered the 4 guys burger, it was delicious! The food was really hot when served, and everything just tasted so good! I did pay $13.56 just for the burger, which I think is a bit steep, however I would recommend eating here to my friends and family :) Wheelchair accessibility: You order from a window on the side of a building, next a city sidewalk, very accessible:)
Delish! But the service is weak. Food
Took my daughter Crandice here after a nice morning of playing Beal or No Beal (We harass people on the subway and ask them if they are 3-Time NBA All Star Bradley Beal). Disappointed that no one was Bradley Beal, we went to Gold Standard to drown our sorrows. The breakfast sandwich was amazing. The potato bun was so soft yet still able to comfortable sandwich the fluffy eggs, crisp bacon, crunchy pickles, and gooey cheese. It is certainly up there for our favourite breakfast sandwich in the city.
Bangin breakfast sandwich, with either kale or bacon (would recommend bacon though). Quick and simple service
Great burgers
Great burgers. Charbroiled and the meat is fresh. Will become a regular spot
This place is an absolute treat. Classic. Gold Standard. Top notch. What more is there to say. And with Vegge options too? Keep doing yo thang.
I took the Telway as a test sandwich. Yeah 3.5 stars, it tasted OK but its clear that the marketing is of Gold Standard and builds tremendous hype. The Burger itself was much smaller and smooshy that I expected (gone in 60 seconds) and Im not impressed about waiting outside at a window like a Husky, so Ill order from inside the cafe instead.
This place has what I can only describe as the best burger Ive ever had in Canada. Perhaps even the world. 10/10, would come again. Vegetarian options: They have impossible meat options that look decent!
I have to come back cuz I did the veggie burger which was pretty yummy only negative is that the lines can be you too 20 minutes or longer. Suppose you can get your oat cap at Reunion cafe next door while you wait
A little pricy but the sandwiches taste very good
Pickles on a breakfast sandwich? Say less. So so so good
The best places are the hole-in-a-wall places you walk by, like this one! They pop out some of the best breakfast sandwiches in the city out of window off a side street. If you want coffee with it, don t sweat it, they are connected to Reunion Coffee Shop, you can even sit down in there and they will bring your sandwich inside to you. The breakfast sandwich is worth the hype. It said hot sauce, and I enjoy extremely spicy food, so it was nice to have an actual decent kick of spice in it, along with pickles which I wasn t expecting. Perfect amount of tang, sauce, salt and gooey cheese. As soon as I finished one, I was already craving the next.
Probably one of the most flavorful breakfast sandwiches I ve had in Toronto. Loved how quick the order/pickup was.
Definitely a skip if you re short on time. Waited over 25min for two burgers with seemingly no priority on whose order gets made when.
Great vegan sandwiches available
I was extremely skeptical i Heard their breakfast sandwich was good but it was $8 and really small. It was still worth it in my opinion, it really surprised me. I m not a fan of pickles but the pickle on that sandwich did something to me I can t explain. 10/10 My partner tried the burger, again it was small (think A&W buddy burger) but delicious, however unlike the breakfast sandwich I don t think it s worth the price
Best classic breakfast sandwich
Best breakfast sandwiches in the city. expect a small line but on a nice day it s a good wait. nice little grab and go spot if you re in roncesvalles or just passing through.
The Golden Standard breakfast sandwich is amazing, just wish it was a bit bigger serving
Telway burger is amazing!
Breakfast sandwich with bacon is outstanding here. Its a small hole in a wall place with a simple menu and a very good breakfast sandwich!
The Detroit burger is debatably the best burger in Toronto, my personal favourite. It was amazing - I usually dip all my burgers in ketchup but this was the first burger that didn t need it. It being Detroit style cooked with the mustard, along with their quality patty and all their fixings really blew me away. The breakfast sandwich is also a must try, it s not just a regular greasy breakfast sandwich. The eggs are light and fluffy which makes the sandwich, they have a hot sauce up at the front - put that on the sandwich such a flavourful and balanced hot sauce. I ll definitely be back. The girl working the counter/kitchen was very nice.
I thought this was Toronto s best breakfast sandwich, it left much to be desired. It s a breakfast sandwich, not entirely horrible but not entirely delicious either. Just kinda meh. I don t get the hype. Also, they forgot to put in my bacon so I had to ask for another one and the cook just seemed so confused. Anyway, I found the sandwich to be quite dry and I think they use powdered egg? No ketchup. And for $22+ for 2 sandwiches (and tip). Totally not worth it! Though I must admit passing by, it smelled really good. But yeah, not a good sandwich. Would not go back.
Breakfast sandwich is fire!
Hands down the best in the city.
Huge disappointment. Got the Detroit style burger, entire thing was bland and flavourless. Literally the worst burger Ive had in a long time It was edible, thats pretty much it
Everyone loves this neighbourhood hole-in-the-wall. I cant count the amount of times Ive been to Gold Standard, theyre deeply reliable for excellent burgers. The other day they were out of meat so they made me and my pal a couple of Four Guys with impossible patties and it was so good. My only complaint is that the potato rolls they use are Martins, which are delicious, but the owners of that company spend a lot of money supporting christofascist politicians in the USA. Yikes! Would love to see them source potato rolls from Lev Bakery or another worthy local bakery. But thats a problem for whoever owns Gold Standard, the workers are out there killing it every day and they deserve your love and generous tips. Bless your hearts, see yall soon for my Telway. Vegetarian options: Im no vegetarian but the impossible melt is really good!!
Speedy service and one of the most delicious breakfast sandwiches Ive ever eaten. Im not from Toronto but if Im ever back here Ill definitely do this again. Incredible. Vegetarian options: They have an impossible sausage patty for the meatless option.
My favourite breakfast sandwich in the city and they had amazing customer service
Best burger Ive had in a long time! Perfect burger! Love the soft potato bun. Patties were great quality. Got delivery. They even have tangerine juice, also delicious!
Delicious and consistent breakfast sandwiches.
This is a fantastic hole-in-the-wall spot, The burger can stack up against some of the best burgers in Toronto, I could eat here multiple times a week, welcome to the 9 club Gold Standard, 9.2/10
First time I ve ever tried this spot, got the gold standard breakfast sandwich and it was amazing!!!! Server at window was friendly and service was quick. Will definitely be coming back here! 10/10
Food is always on point and so delicious
Decent burger but unfortunately the onion and mustard are more prevalent than any actual meat flavour from the patty. Approx $9 including tax for a small burger. No seating but walk down the street and use the public benches.
Wonderful place to pick an early (9am ) breakfast. Got the gold standard breakfast sandwich. Was delicious and fresh.
This place is worth the hype. Burgers with no frills just flavour. Fav new spot in the city Vegetarian options: Only place with impossible Pattie s. 11/10
Here s the thing, the sandwiches are really tasty, but really small, especially considering it averages $10 per sandwich (plus tax and tip). I d recommend going to an actual breakfast restaurant/diner, spending an extra $5 and actually being full.
It s a good sandwich but can t justify the price. Tiny portion for $10
Delicious breakfast sandwich in a great area! One of the best I ve had in the city but not the best. I got the Detroit burger to try as well and it was good.
Great local spot for quick sandwich or burger for the lunch. I loved their juicy beef patty and sauce on a tasty potato bun. Don t be late as it closes at 3:00pm!
Good stuff
Very testy. Try Golden Sandwich, and you will not be disappointed
Great hole in the wall spot. Honestly loved the breakfast sandwich with bacon here. Would recommend anyone that love breakfast sandwich s or just a good burger. I will be back to try their Telway burger! Update: Came back for the Telway burger and it was good, but personally found the breakfast sandwich a personal favourite.
Bacon breakfast sandwich
The gold standard breakfast sandwich is top notch. Enjoyed the unique experience of ordering from a takeout window and getting to sit in the café next door.
The best bang for your buck burger you can ask for, had two four guys burgers for lunch and it made feel so freaking gooood.
Really awesome breakfast sandwiches
I drove from Richmond Hill to check this place out after seeing it on TikTok. It was worth the drive. Who knew a spicy sauce and pickles would go well with a breakfast sandwich, I guess the owners at Gold Standard did. All of my children loved the breakfast sandwich. I also pick up 4 Four Guys Burger and the same result, both 5 star. The burger has a break crust on the beef and the toppings are tasty but without taking away from a perfect patty. Enjoy Peace and Love
Breakfast Sandwiches are the best in the city. Not sure why this place charges an automatic gratuity for take out? Been going on for 2 years now....
Incredible breakfast sandwiches.
literally the best breakfast sandwich in the city. fluffy eggs, crispy bacon, melted cheese, a little hot sauce for a kick, and some pickles which take it over the top. friendly staff. expect to wait 10+ mins, but who cares it s worth it. also the gold packaging looks pretty dope.
Had gold standard bacon and it tasted so good This sandwich made my day hehe
Good breakfast sandwich.
The veg sausage breakfast sandwich is a game changer. You must give it a try. Fantastic little shop.
Great breakfast sandwich and great setup - love the counter and everything being so fast. 10/10 would recommend.
10/10 recommend! Ive eaten here countless times but have no photo evidence because the sandwich never lasts long enough ! Theyre amazing, just go!!
The Alternative Burger is SO GOOD! Can t wait to try the other ones!
You ve never had a breakfast sandwich this good
Used to be my go to. Kick it up a notch please. $37 for 2 cokes and 2 burgers is horrendous, and the girl that worked the window hated the ground I was standing on. I d give the burger 4 stars, service and price 2 stars.
First time in toronto and all the locals told Me to go here. The burger lasted maybe 15 seconds, literally the best burger i ever had.
Will always grab some if Im in the area
Just moved to Roncy and was told by numerous friends to check out Gold Standard. It did not disappoint. Truly amazing breakfast sandwich. Definitely a lineup on Sunday but worth the wait
Breakfast and burgers you can smell blocks away on Roncy
It s a cute little place to get burgers a little pricey for what the actual burger look like. This Telway Burger is not what I expected and it s $7. It s still good but won t be trying again.
Great burgers & breakfast sandwiches! 2x Telway is my go to
A genuine egg sandwich
Best smash burgers around. You don t have to believe me just try it yourself! Great job to the staff at Gold Standard
Delicious! Cute little window on a side street for awesome sandwiches! A little expensive but it was good!
Best breakfast sandwiches! Take out only.
Lucky to have this spot as my local breakfast sandwich option. Only thing to complain about is the line on weekend mornings
Sandwich is great, but they dont have the closest attention to detail. Make sure to double check your order.
The Gold Standard Sandwich is fantastic and the Telway Burger is pretty good too!
Best breakfast sandwich I ve ever eaten
Best breakfast sandwich in the city! While there, I also tried the Zamalek Hibiscus juice and definitely recommend it on a hot summer day.
I absolutely loved the experience. A nice little hole-in-the-wall restaurant with great sandwiches. I had their breakfast sandwich with bacon and kale and it was so much better than anything at Rotten Ronnie s or Terrible Timmy s.
Great breakfast sandwiches
One of the best burger joints in Toronto. I had the taste in my mouth for almost an hour after eating it. Would recommend it.
Some good veggie options
I get why they called this The Gold Standard no notes. Recommended dishes Vegan Breakfast Sandwich, Gold Standard Breakfast Sandwich
Well worth the wait. The breakfast Sammy s are to die for.
It s a basic burger nothing special. I do Better on my bbq at home
A great take-away window on the back side of a great coffee shop. My move is the breakfast sandwich with bacon (a lil spicy- heads up!) and while I m waiting, hit Reunion for a cappucino. There is some seating there but a great grab and walk option for meandering up and down Roncesvalles. Also, pickles on a breakfast sandwich generated the term brunch sandwich .
Best breakfast sandwich in Toronto. Neighbourhood staple.
Really good smash burger. I can eat 3 of these in one sitting.
Arguably the best breakfast sandwich I ve ever eaten
Really good breakfast sandwiches, but theres better options close by. Vegetarian options: Veggie sausage or kale options available if you dont want bacon. Wheelchair accessibility: Flat brick on the ground at the window, and the payment option is on a table at waist height.
The best breakfast sandwich on the go! There is often a small line, maybe a ten minute wait but the staff do a great job of pumping out tasty sammies! Highly recommend! Vegetarian options: The impossible patty on the breakfast sandwich is a top notch choice!
Quick service and a delicious breakfast sandwich. Didnt think Id dig pickles on a bacon and egg sandwich but it works!
So good love it
Best breakfast sandwich Ive had in Toronto.
Best breakfast sandwich hands down. Highly recommend. No! I command you to go! You won t regret it.
Most yummy breakfast sandwiches
Tasty burger for sure, but over-hyped to the extreme... it would be lot tastier if it was as cheap as it is tiny. $8 for a burger this small hurts the wallet, especially considering the mustard fried burger recipe they use is a viral one all over the internet (if you want to make a bunch yourself for the same price). Especially considering the incredible burgers available in this city this is pretty average and can be cooked at home without any trouble. Tasty, but too expensive and definitely small. Dont believe the hype, sorry guys.
Helplessly addictive sandwiches, although overpriced for what they are. Getting a coffee from reunion island and a breakfast sandwich is a go-to move of the locals.
the most amazing breakfast sandwiches. my only complaint is that i am forever wanting more.
not worth the price or wait time at all. burger was very small for $8 and didnt have much in it, the meat was very thin.
Great neighborhood breakfast sandwich!
Really can t go wrong with any of the options, but the bacon Gold Standard might be my favourite breakfast sandwich around here. Quick, efficient service through a walk-up window. I always try to swing by if I m in the area in the mornings.
Great breakfast sandwich. Vegan option available. Wait can be long however it s always worth the wait :)
Love the Roncy location, quick and efficient even when there is a long line up. My most recent visit this past week, the burgers came out piping hot and delicious as usual. Highly recommend the Telway burger (pictured) and the Alternative. Their lemonades are also really tasty. Cant go wrong with the Gold Standard, just bring your appetite!
Great food, fun location, great for when youre doing a dog walk.
I once saw Bruce McCullough there. It was a pleasant moment.
Our go to for breakfast sandwiches on the roncies strip. Also thoroughly enjoyed the Telaway burger.
Great breakfast sandwiches. Expensive but I just cant say no...
SO good. There is a vegan and vegetarian option. I get the vegetarian gold standard with kale and it s amazing. Only drawback: if you have one, you ll constantly crave them. Service is quick and easy! Sometimes a 10-15 minute wait but it s 100% worth it and a cozy spot to be while you re waiting.
I had a couple of friends tell me these breakfast sandwiches were amazing so I had to see for myself. And the hype is real. They are super tasty sandwiches. Love the chewy fresh English Muffins, addition of pickles and hot sauce. We opted for the Bacon and Sausage versions. Both good, bacon is my fave, with a generous serving of it. Sausage is good too, it has a bit of heat to it. This is a more a takeout place as there isnt much space to eat there, but you can enjoy them at High Park like we did
Cities
Really very delicious
$9.10 for a breakfast sandwich? 15% gratuity included when I pick up at the window? Don t get me wrong it s a good small sandwich, but that s excessive.
So yum and great customer service!
We tried the original and the vegan sausage. There was something about the toppings and eggs that just didn t work for us and we didn t enjoy it. The bacon was a little on the hard side. We weren t overly impressed.
Great breakfast sandwiches! Grab one and go for a walk in nearby High Park! One of the best places in Roncesvales Village. Recommended.
A pretty solid breakfast sandwich, if not expensive. Great for a lazy Sunday brunch.
