Hermie's is happy to provide you with all-day breakfast, lunch and dinner options for everyone's preferences. We proudly offer both Canadian and Filipino tastes. A lovely thing? Our generous and delicious portions of food to ensure that you go home feeling totally satisfied. Come in to our spacious location, with all amenities located on the same floor. Group of 8 people at one table is available. Reservations on the week highly recommend. We have been serving since Oct 2019and are located in the 1595 Bayview Ave Come visit us, we are excited to meet you!
We come to Hermie's pretty frequently for brunch as we have found the food to be delicious and of great quality. Each time we have visited, there hasn't been much of a lineup, so we got seated right away and the service was relatively quick. We have tried different types of Eggs Benedict (regular, Cajun Benedict, Monte Christo Benedict), a Ruben sandwich, and the Big Breakfast (my partner's go-to). The flavour of each dish we have tried is always on point, and we love that all their meals come with a small serving of fresh fruit. We have eaten in-person and done takeout, and the food has been consistent in terms of flavour and quantity as well. We appreciate that they open at 7am as we have had to go in and order as early as 7am to get our food before leaving for a day trip. The takeout from here is always packaged well in sustainable containers. We highly recommend Hermie's!
Hermie's is turning out to be my regular neighbourhood "hang out" whenever I need a dose of home-style Filipino food (which happens quite often). It's a comfortable no-nonsense environment with friendly service and generous portions of delicious Filipino goodness. For those who are not ready to venture out on such items on the menu, there are standard fare of burgers, eggs/omelettes, sandwiches and salads that will hit the spot. As for me, although they have a fair offering of other Filipino dishes, the Beef Kare Kare (beef stew in peanut sauce) is my go-to comfort food. Hermie's offering is so good that I've stopped cooking my own at home. Whenever I eat in, I always place an extra order for take out for my next meal.
Hermie’s is my go-to brunch place on Bayview. Spacious, comfy booths, friendly and efficient service. Food is freshly prepared and always yummy. Whether I’m on my own or in a group, I always feel welcome here.
Hidden gem. Absolutely delicious food. Wonderful service. Big portions. Reasonable prices. My new favourite breakfast place on Bayview. Highly recommend!
Hermie’s is great because they offer both Filipino and American breakfasts. I had the tapsilog and my husband got the eggs Benedict. They have an extensive menu with both American and Filipino choices, which is great for indecisive people.
Lovely and delicious breakfast place . We had the spinach feta omelette with sourdough bread and it was light and fluffy and completely non- greasy because , according to the owner it was cooked in butter! I’ve had really greasy omelette that also tasted like burnt agh in other establishments so I am REALLY enthusiastic about finding this place. The owner very kindly added some extra oat milk to my Latte because I’m used to that , and even though I offered to pay more he didn’t charge me. The decor is warm and casual, very clean . I think we’re going to become regulars:)
This restaurant has been in Leaside for a number of months and is truly an overlooked gem. The food I must say is better and with more generous portions than many of the more popular locations in the area with extremely friendly and young family friendly staff. Don't let the entrance be foreboding, I will definitely be back as the garlic shrimp was amazing. I don't eat Filipino food often, but I must say the food was fresh as it is made to order and wonderfully comforting.
Amazing place! I had a garlic butter shrimp and it was a dynamite🫶 The best shrimp dish ever! I don’t know what’s in it but it’s creamy and buttery and has a tiny bit of heat. OMG🤪 I’m new to a Filipino cuisine so I have to try everything. I heard their breakfast is super good so that’s what I’m going to try next. I can’t believe I’ve been missing this place even though they are in my neighborhood. Highly recommend this place.💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
First time I ve ever been to hermie s , and I would definitely come back. The food was amazing( homemade sausage patty and French toast)and the service was so friendly. Anybody looking for some great food, this is the place to go.
Amazing food!! Wish I could order for dinner too!
The guy who serves coffee is very grumpy and argues with customers. He does this in person and online. Reading his responses to customers concerns is a masterclass in how not to run a business.
Their beef tapa is amazing.. Very tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. Definitely worth trying!
Every meal is consistently delicious! Tremendous value, very generous portions!!! We now come at least once a week! Dietary restrictions: Vegan, vegetarian and dairy free options. Accommodated all our off the menu requests.
Amazing Filipino breakfast. Definitely coming back.
Excellent service, delicious food. My husband and I had the Filipino breakfast (Tapa and Tocina), both which were delicious Looking forward to coming back and exploring more of the menu.
Food was great I enjoyed eating filipino eggplant omelette with beef strips and garlic fried rice. The owner was very warm and accommodating explaining the flavours of filipino food. Now Im addicted to it and kept on coming back for more.
Very honest server. They don t upsell the food. The Filipino breakfast with tapas (beef) was the winner because of the incredible flavour. We were accommodated as a group of 10 which was very nice. The pricing is very reasonable. Here s the deal, go eat here because food is just amazing!
The food is amazing, the menu has lots of options. Service is great, waiters are all super friendly. Fair prices. I definitely recommend this place.
Wonderful food and service! Great for kids! We used to go here when Hermie s was located in Leslieville and was happily surprised to find it on Bayview after hockey. Leaside residents should skip the line across the street and walk right into Hermie s before the secret is out!
Excellent food and service!
Great food with really good portions sizes :)
Amazing food, really sweet and attentive staff, excellent prices - we will definitely return! Kid-friendliness: Server gave us crayons and a colouring sheet, really nice
Why would someone come to this place while Eggstatic and Ramona s are at the leaside?! I didn t like the food, and not recommend it to others.
Great food selection including Filipino food. The owners were very friendly and caring. Definitely coming back
Delicious meals! Had the fish and chips and the sizzling sisig
I had the smoked fish breakfast and really enjoyed the meal. Seniors discount makes a difference too.
Everything they make is delicious and served in great portions
Leaside s best kept secret! Excellent food, service, and great value.
Chris and his wife Hermie are fabulous hosts. Service, hospitality and the delicious food were top shelf. Kind and genuine hosts. Highly recommend! Food : 5/5 |
Yummy food & great service!!
Incredible food, amazing service. If this was beside my house, Ide be here every morning. The host is very calm, friendly, and helpful, and the traditional Filipino menu is to die for.
Had a fabulous brunch with my Husband and baby. Very accommodating and friendly. Great portion size and the food was delicious. Food
great food great service!
Great food, had eggs bennies and they were amazing.
Great service and good Filipino breakfast!
The smoked meat and cheddar sandwich is amazing! Such a great value too at lunch time at $12 with fries. Very cute patio and great service! We will be back :)
I ve been curious to try Hermie s on bayview. We actually went for breakfast but I wanted to try the Filipino food. Glad I did. I had the Kare Kare with beef, green beans and bok choy and a delicious thick sauce. It was piping hot. With a side mixture of shrimp paste which was a great addition. Food is subtle with great flavours. Not spicy, it didn t need to be. There are lots of other options for breakfast, including a really good sausage for brekkie. It felt like it was real meat! I m sure it was. Can t say it s authentic as I haven t had much Filipino food, but, all the ingredients were fresh and home made. Give it a try! It was great!
Totally awesome! Super accommodating and allergy friendly
Our overall experience was good. Decent portion size. The food was authentically delicious.
Great food. Excellent value, very attentive service and service was very quick. Highly recommend
Great place for lunch. Friendly service and good food. A really good local.
Absolutely delicious Filipino food and very friendly owners. It was so good I came back twice in one week!
We did not know they had halal options when we came in, but the staff notified us of this and took initiative to make sure there was no cross contamination with non halal items. They were extremely kind and the food was great!
Ordered the Eggs Benedict With peameal bacon, I noticed a lot of breakfast spots don t have the peameal bacon so I was vary pleased when I found the option on the menu food was quick only about 10minutes to prepare the meal quality was fantastic food was cooked perfectly hollandaise sauce was great hash browns came with mushrooms and onions really nice touch also there was some fruits on the side. Will definitely be coming back highly recommend the eggs Benedict. Side note place is in a great area for a little walk with the family after gelato right across the street and great little shops up and down. Wish I could give it more than 5 stars based off quality of food service and location.
Some of the best food I ve ever eaten. Classic diner but modern. Chris and Hermie s are wonderful hosts and she can cook!!!
We tried Hermies and have come back ever since. The food is wonderful, prepared to order and theres plenty. Come hungry and you wont be disappointed. Our familys favourite local eatery.
Great fresh breakfast. Came here with my daughter, and enjoyed the atmosphere. Looking forward to trying the Filipino dishes!
It is exactly what it claims to be!
This place is a hit. Great flavor, big portions. The coffee is great, too. Tried the 3 meat breakfast poutine, couldnt even finish it! Would happily return.
My husband and I went to this restaurant this morning. My husband ordered Beef Tapa Filipino breakfast with garlic rice and eggs and I ordered Arroz Caldo, a Filipino rice/chicken congee. The food was delicious. The portions are good. The service is great. The restaurant is clean. I highly recommend this place. I will go back again and bring our children.
Relaxed dining environment, friendly service staff, tasty food.
Great place, great food, great people. A very welcomed addition to the strip.
Edit: thank you mr for taking feedback. The new tocino is closer to the tocino I know and love. I had the tocino breakfast with garlic rice and it was soo bad! The tocino was too dry and had a weird texture, the garlic rice was again dry and too many crunchy bits. 2 stars because the egg was perfectly made. I ended up only eating parts of the rice and eggs for lunch :( for $20 it was such a bad meal.
Great local restaurant serving Filipino food as well as traditional breakfast and lunch items. Good food excellent service
This was our first time at Hermies and it was Amazing , my Boyfriend never eats the home fries and he loved them , he said best meal he s had in years, June 16th , we just had to come back a second time, bf absolutely loves it , we brought some friends from London .. amazing food and service
An absolute gem of a place, love the decor and the food was extremely delicious (not to mention the exceptionally reasonable prices)! Best restaurant on this stretch of Bayview by far! Will be back again and again! Thanks for the great experience
Love this place- so happy we decided to stop in! You could tell everything was made fresh from scratch, staff were super friendly & provided great service, & the interior of the place is super cute & well kept. Overall, delicious food + value, would definitely recommend & return when Im looking to grab a bite in the area next! :)
First time trying Filipino breakfast. Took a recommendation from Chris. Was excellent.
Such a sweet, cozy place for a quiet breakfast or lunch - or a relaxed dinner! There have been several restaurants to occupy the space over the last few years, but this one is by far my favourite. We were greeted immediately upon entering by who I surmised is the owner. He was friendly and attentive, and was quick to answer any questions we had about the menu. We came to sample the Filipino food, but the Canadian food (Cobb salad, eggs Benedict, homemade home fries topped with optional- and free- sautéed onions and mushrooms) also looked delicious. We ordered the pansit and it tasted exactly as it should. Also ordered chicken adobo, which came with the most amazing garlic fried rice and a small salad. I would go back just for the rice alone! It was sooo tasty. Our meals took a little bit longer than average to come out, but the owner informed us that is only because everything is made to order by his Filipina wife. I suppose good things come to those who wait :-) We plan to explore more of the menu the next time we pop in. The fish stew served on a sizzling plate looks really interesting and is a promising prospective second meal.
Variety of brunch items available, however, we were keen to try the philipino cuisine which was tasty. Sweetened lunch spaghetti was good and not overly sweet. Service was friendly with a warm atmosphere. Would definitely return with my family to try some additional dishes.
Great new breakfast / diner spot in Leaside!
Great menu and really well prepared!
First Time to eat here with my family and we ll surely be coming back again. The food have large portions good for sharing and most especially, it s so tasty Nice and clean place with A warm and cozy ambiance. The Owner ate Hermie, is very humble, kind and friendly. Thank You and see you again
We had lunch here today and the food was delicious. The service was even better. Great value and looking forward to our next visit. Thank you.
My partner and I went to Hermie s tonight and we lovedddd the burgers. Good price and portion, and it tasted fantastic!! 11/10. He and I will definitely be back!
This was my worst dining experience. My partner and I could not even finish our meal cause of the experience. We ordered the spaghetti and did not know it came with cheese. I do not eat cheese for dietary reasons. When we brought it to the attention of who we assume is one of the owners, he decided to argue with us and blame us for not informing them about our dietary limitation and not taking accountability that they did not indicate that the meal had cheese on their menu. The owner was so defensive without us asking for the meal to comped. I have never experienced this before and it was such terrible customer service. Terrible service makes or breaks an experience and this broke it for me. We also ordered rice pudding that had shrimp in it but was not listed on the menu, but thankfully the waiter mentioned this while taking our order. If you ever eat here make sure to clarify what is actually in the food cause there might be special items they do not inform you about and youll get blamed for it.
Who knew? Very tasty food and great pricing. I was wandering Bayview looking to find somewhere to grab a take out breakfast sandwich and probably would have ended up at Bagel House. (The normal breakfast places take forever to prepare food and their prices are high for take out) But on my way south on the west side of Bayview I happened to look across the street and saw Hermies. Crossed over to check out the menu and went in. Well worth it! Ordered the Avocado BELT which also comes with fries and a bit of fruit. All for $12! (10% discount on cash). Awesome tasting with a little spice. While waiting, for only about 4-5 minutes, I scanned the menu and saw a lot to come back for. And I will be back. Next time Ill take the other half and dine in. Glad I found you Hermies!
Went for lunch on a whim. We each got sandwiches and fries. Good portion size, great value and DELICIOUS.
Delicious! Full assortment of everything you d expect from an all day breakfast but we tried the Filipino food and it was amazing! Wonderful owners and the best food we ve had in Leaside. The Lechon Kawali is some of the best pork Ive ever had. The Filipino Spaghetti? Homemade deliciousness. Pictures taken mid meal. It was my first time visiting this restaurant but we will be back!
Wow!!! Absolutely incredible food. Lots of variety-standard breakfast food and some with an Asian flair. Exceptionally quality ingredients, interesting menu and all very tasty. A person, huge, picky pancake lover, at my table said Hermies pancakes were the best he has even eaten in his entire life!!! Huge portions and free tasty coffee with meal. I will definitely return with all my fam and pals. Highly recommend!
Breakfast was fresh, unique, quick and delicious. We have the large breakfast with sausage patty and bacon and Monte Cristo eggs Benedict - would highly recommend! The space is really nice and the staff is very attentive and friendly.
Great staff, amazingly dilcious food with enough for leftovers. At a good price too!
We hadnt planned on dining here today, unaware of its existence until we were informed at the restaurant we initially visited that walk-ins would require a 45-minute wait. We just want Bennys today. Across the street, we stumbled upon Hermies. Intrigued by its Filipino-Canadian cuisine, and impressed by its ratings(4.7!), we decided to give it a try. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Chris, who promptly seated us. My wife opted for the Monte Cristo Benny, while I chose the Grilled Cheese with Ham Benny. Both dishes came with homemade crispy fries, topped with mushrooms and onions a delightful surprise! The service and portions were exceptional, and both of our Benedicts were truly outstanding. Trust me when I say they were amazing! Thank you, ate Hermie and Chris, for the wonderful experience! Salamat po! Well try Pinoy foods next, with the kiddos :)
Full disclosure: This is NOT a fake review. We have lived in Leaside for over 4o years and have experienced many terrific restaurants. This new eatery addition to Bayview Ave has a great range of menus choices, the food is absolutely delicious, and the prices are very reasonable. Try it out Leasiders as it represents terrific value.
Honestly sooo good, flavours were crazy good combinations. Had the eggs benny with the beef, sweet lord it was nice. The hashbrowns with the mushrooms and onions was a nice touch. Portions were great actually, a solid amount of meat on the benny, and everything was cook nicely. Owner was pretty chill and appreciative of the business. Great spot, will be going again soon.
Delicious Filippino and traditional Canadian food that comes in a wide variety and generous portions! Not to mention the great coffee and friendly ambiance. A much needed addition to Bayview-Leaside!
Such a refreshingly friendly and comfortable environment. The gentleman owner was very personable, patient and happy to explain different items on the menu i.e., they make their own hollandaise sauce and use real butter etc. I ordered eggs Benedict. I asked for the fried mushrooms/onions to be on the side because I wasnt sure Id like them. They were fresh cut mushrooms, tasty and hot! The home fries as described above were crispy and nicely salted. Good cup of coffee, fresh and quickly topped up. My serving of eggs Benedict was generous. To top off my enjoyment at this new restaurant, I got an unexpected seniors discount. It was very appreciated. Thank you. The seating is very comfortable. You could possibly sit 6 people in a booth. Overall they have focused on whats important for people looking for a reliable neighborhood restaurant/breakfast nook that offers much more than breakfast. I will definately return.
I think this place is a bit of a gem in an area of mostly mediocre restaurants. I really liked the comfy and roomy booths, the bright space, reasonable prices and the really nice and friendly service. I had the eggs florentine and was pleasantly surprised at how creamy the hollandaise was. They apparently make it in-house as opposed to a lot of places that use a mix or some other substitute. Definitely worth a return visit!
The best food in town. Portions are fantastic, the staff are so friendly and welcoming. I had the best pancakes in my life, I ll be back again!
There were six in our party. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their breakfasts. The portions were ample. Whether the the eggs were poached, scrambled, sunny side up or Florentine-style, they were done perfectly. The bacon guacamole grilled cheese sandwich was stellar. We will be going back!
Great, quality food and excellent service.
Finally Toronto can experience what was a staple in Orillia! Best food in town! Beautiful brick back drop to enjoy the best Benedict youve had in your life. Food
Such a great place to have brunch. Their spring rolls and 3 meat poutine are delicious. We ll be going back for sure.
It s hard to choose what to eat in their mouth watering menu. Breakfast poutines are amazing and served in big portions. All fried items are perfectly crispy and the Filipino dishes were delicious! The restaurant is very cute and accommodated our large group very well. I ll be coming back for sure!
Cute little all-day breakfast place with the friendliest people! Food is also very filling and delicious. Such a surprise to see Filipino food on the menu.
ABSOLUTELY EPIC!!!!!!! I got a chance to sit and talk with the owners Chris and Hermie, they are so lovely and pleasant. The food was better than excellent. This will be an amazing addition to the intense portfolio of incredible brunch spots in Leslieville. Chris told me he wanted to be open early, which isnt really a thing here, and that he wanted to have a very community focused and neighborhood friendly vibe, which is always welcomed. The space is magnificent. DO NOT leave without eating Hermies home fries, they are crispy and so perfect. Definitely make it point to get out there.
Really great food and friendly service. The Filipino breakfast was fantastic. I should have grabbed a picture because it looked great too. I ll be back to try more!
My partner and I were eager to try out a new brunch spot in our neighbourhood and decided on Hermies after seeing their fascinating menu of diner classics and Filipino food. We opted for Pansit and Pinakbet. Not quite what we typically order for brunch but I had a hankering for noodles and my partner loves eggplant and okra. The dishes came out quickly after being warned that it would be longer than usual (since these arent your typical orders for brunch) and tasted great, authentic. Compared to a few downtown places where the dishes taste great but not necessarily authentic, I felt like Hermies didnt skimp on the ingredients (like bagoong, this shrimp paste) that are bolder and not necessarily easy on unfamiliar palates. Pro-tip: use a spoon when eating any Filipino dish to make it that much more authentic. The people working (maybe the owners?) exuded a warmth that was welcoming and memorable. I highly recommend Hermies.
Simultaneously the best brunch and best Filipino food in the area. You get amazing value for your money: the servings are huge, coffee/tea are included and theyll top your home fries with sauteed onions and mushrooms for no extra charge. Theyre the only place in the east end serving Filipino brunch that I know of and they knock it out of the park. Highly recommend the longanisa (pork sausage) breakfast with garlic rice and 2 sunny side up eggs. They also have an extensive Filipino menu for lunch/dinner. Ive tried the sizzling pork sisig, kare kare and pancit. All were incredible. Lastly the servers and owners are all incredibly kind. Cant recommend Hermies enough! Ask for the Filipino menu :) Wheelchair accessibility: No stairs to get in. Wide layout. Wheelchair accessible washrooms on the ground floor.
Had a wonderful brunch, need to go back again for the Filipino meals next. Had a great chat with the owner as well. Looking forward to seeing how the business unfolds, it will be a great space for live music and / or an open mic night even at some point! Thanks for bringing a location downtown!! We will be back.
Such an awesome find! We came in for the Filipino breakfast and the food and service did not disappoint! We instantly felt at home. We will definitely be coming back to try their dinner menu. No food pics because we ate it all way too fast!!
Hermies is a new Filipino restaurant offering all-day breakfast/diner experience, and I was thoroughly impressed. The 3 meat breakfast poutine with eggs bennies was delicious, perfectly cooked, and HUGE. My partner had the Filipino breakfast with pork and garlic fried rice, and it was equally delicious. The service was outstanding, and the staff was friendly and attentive. Overall, Hermies is a must-visit for anyone looking for an exceptional Filipino breakfast and looking to try something new in the Queen east area.
My bf and I got the tapsilog, longsilog, and bicol express with garlic fried rice for each dish. We absolutely loved it. I personally thought it felt like home. I loved connecting with the owner and the chef herself, Tita Hermie, regarding the food that we got. It was very nice to see her cook the foods I grew up eating. Shes one of the Filipino-owned businesses to definitely give your outmost support if you havent yet!
This is an amazing breakfast! The price cant be beat as well. Its going to become my new regular
Great place and lovely staff. Eggs Benedict with grilled cheese is a game changer
Excellent service and amazing food! Big portions! Had the Filipino breakfast beef tapas and it was amazing!
The kindest owners, huge portions and a community feel. We love coming to this restaurant! Their breakfast food is so delicious.
Love this place!! The kindest owners, big portions and the best home fries.
I don t know about their prices for Filipino food. I feel like its over priced. 26$ for sisig is overkill, no one in this country charges that much for sisig. It was also not the authentic kind with pig ears. Their pinakbet was very tasty though but again the prices were too high, 19$ for pinakbet?! I mean that should at least come with a can of pop. This restaurant needs to make some combo meals or affordable pricing otherwise I don t think they could compete with other Filipino restaurants in Toronto that offer better prices and quality. I ordered two dishes with extra rice and it came to 60$ after tip, like seriously?! Is this a hotel?!? I came here because I am an avid Filipino foodie but I might have to skip this one before inflation calms down.
This breakfast was fantastic. Stop searching and go here. The staff were so nice and friendly. The portion was huge and delicious. Coffee was great. I will 100% be back.
We were looking for brunch today and randomly stumbled into this place. I m sure glad we did! The food was fantastic, portion was huge, and it was super delicious. I also have to say, the staff was incredibly friendly and we really enjoyed the experience :) We ll definitely be back.
Fresh and tasty Filipino food. Very spacious and family friendly.
Yummy, filling food from the Philippines, and beer from local breweries.
Great breakfast and great service. Food was delicious and good portion. We had the 2 eggs breakfast and western omelette.
First time having pork sisig and it was delicious and filling! I cant wait to come back and try the other dishes.
We checked them out over the weekend and will go back for sure. The Filipino menu is so satisfying. The fish sizzle was the best!
A great new place with delicious food, reasonable prices, and interesting interiors. Chris the owner is a nice person!
Fantastic place!
Perfect hangover cure!!
I really wanted to love this place, food looks fantastic. But unfortunately my partner and I sat for over 20 minutes and weren t even given water. The waiter literally passed our way about 10 times and didn t even ask if we wanted something to drink. Ended up walking out due to frustration (and also thirst and hunger lol).
We ordered egg Benedict and omelettes, they were okay. However the coffee was really sour, took one sip and no more. I d say any instant coffee in the market could be better than this. Worth mentioning is that during our meal we overheard some other ppl sitting couple tables away from us complaining something about burnt burger but got yelled by the owner and were just asked to leave the restaurant Well I m okay with the service we ve got this time but after seeing what happened to the other table I m just glad we didn t complain about the bad coffee or order any burger.
Amazing food and great service. Also love the space and environment. Have gone twice and will likely go again as I live in the neighborhood.
Awesome place for families with kids in evening hours. Service was fantastic and friendly. Great balance of kids menu and adults. Filipino and North American.
Today my girlfriend, her mother, and I went to this restaurant with really high expectations since it has really high rating. The other food was OK, but the meat of cheeseburger was way overcooked and burnt, it s tastes very bitter. We understood the kitchen might be busy at the moment and may have accidentally served this unpleasant dish. We showed the burnt burger and they exchanged it for another one which was again overcooked- both sides this time lol. When we expressed our concern and simply want to return the inedible burger. The owner was extremely rude and used his fingers to crush the meat in front of us and yielded to us This is a different kind of burger! He insisted the meat has to be burnt to make sure it s well cooked. I was quite shocked since as a restaurant owner he doesnt know common sense: eating burnt meat could cause many diseases, like cancer.I believe Toronto Public Health will agree with me because there are already lots of academy articles you can use Google to find. But the owner just kept yelling at us to leave his restaurant immediately and didnt even allow us to pay the bill. My girlfriend s mother was scared by his loud voice so we had to leave. He mentioned he doesn t care what review we wrote, but I still spent 10 mins to write this review because I want to save more people (including the owner) who try to eat overcooked cheeseburgers - do not eat the burnt!
Please come support this restaurant. The Filipino food specifically is absolutely amazing (be sure to ask for the Filipino menu)! I chose to come here for my birthday lunch and I couldn t be happier to support this restaurant on my special day. Thank me later!
Hermies Diner is a great place to enjoy a hearty and flavorful Filipino breakfast. The staff was very kind and courteous, and they made sure we had everything we needed. They even put on a fresh pot of coffee when we arrived, which was a nice touch. I ordered the large breakfast, which came with bacon, sausage (made fresh in house!), French toast, eggs, toast, and home fries. It was a lot of food, but I managed to finish it because it was so good. My friend had the eggless breakfast, she said it was very tasty and satisfying as well. The diner had a warm and cozy vibe, and we enjoyed being able to get a breakfast in the afternoon while watching the hockey! It was a wonderful way to start our day, and we will definitely come back again. I highly recommend this place to anyone who loves Filipino, Canadian (or fusion!) food or wants to try something different.
Honestly, the inside is nice and beautiful, the outside is so misleading. Honestly, if they just changed their sign to a modern design and got a proper designer to make it that alone would get them more customers. I always feel bad theyre sitting empty, but I think most people dont go in bc they have no idea bc the sign indicates the inside is a dive bar but its not the case at all. Hire a designer, change the sign, and add a bit of modern decor.
Great vibe and really great Fillipino food! We went on a Wednesday for lunch and ordered the Sizzling dishes, they tasted delicious (comes with a free tea as well). Also the owner was really nice to chat to. We are curious to come and check out the breakfast next time...
Hermies is a delightful and friendly place, serving both classic western breakfast staples and fusion Filipino-inspired dishes. The restaurant is run by a husband and wife, whose passion and perfectionism in creating a great restaurant experience are immediately evident. Upon stepping inside, you will be greeted right away, with your choice of booth, counter or table. On nice days, the front windows are opened, letting in the life of the city and a fresh breeze. On the menu, you will find classic breakfasts and brunch dishes, but what I was most excited about was the Filipino-inspired menu. These homestyle dishes are unique creations by the culinary genius, Hermie, the restaurants namesake. Everything is freshly made to order and the menu has something for everyone (so picky eaters, rejoice!) Coffee and tea are also thoughtfully included, in classic diner style. When the food arrives (and it is promptly!) you will be delighted. The food manages to be both fresh and modern as well as comforting and familiar. Overall, its a wonderful experience, and one that I repeat. Although this location has just opened, its obvious why their previous restaurant was so incredibly popular. This one is sure to be a place-to-be in Leslieville. Vegetarian options: There are some great vegetarian options (especially the squash dish). Dietary restrictions: All the food is ready to order, so they can accomodate many dietary restrictions. Wheelchair accessibility: There are no stairs to get in.
High quality bar food. Soft drink and tea included. Great brunch, lunch and food with a beer.
Great place... nice varied menu... perfect price point... going back for sure
Hermie s is quite possibly my favourite new breakfast place. We ordered the Classic Eggs Benedict and Large Breakfast. Both look very simple but tasted fresh, flavourful and made from high quality ingredients. The hollandaise was delicious. The home fries were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The toast was uniformly crisp and perfectly buttered. While it wasn t quite as fancy or elevated as other fancy brunch places, it was still a great classic breakfast. The atmosphere is spacious and had plenty of seating with no waiting a huge plus when you re hungry! I can t wait to go back and try the other menu items for lunch or dinner.
Great vibes, friendly owner, and really delicious food with big portions!
Love this place, great brunch, excellent service
I had Filipino food for the first time and I absolutely loved it! This new establishment is not only spacious but also open for long hours, which is great for anyone with a busy schedule. The food was delicious, and I enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere. I look forward to going back soon and trying more dishes!
Excellent food with excellent service. Easily one of my favorites in the area. Been great everytime Ive gone
Hermies is definitely a fun western and Filipino brunch spot. Youll never run out of things to try given their huge menu and affordable prices. Stopped by for breakfast and got: - Pancakes: Now thats what a stack of pancakes should look like. There were 3 pancakes but they seemed like 5 given how huge and fluffy they were. Taste was nothing fancy but confortingly homemade. - Tapa: Classic Filipino breakfast. The tapa was super tasty, the eggs balanced the sweet-saltiness well, and the garlic rice was generous. - Hermies Platter: Amazing serving size (1 drumstick and 3 wings, spring rolls, onion rings, chips) given the price. That said, the wings were a bit on the too dry for me, the spring rolls tasted a bit too meaty, and the onion rings were standard. Nice addition of the Filipino flavoured chips though. Space is huge and great for groups. Atmosphere is welcoming. Kitchen churns out food fresh and quick. And if you want Filipino lunch good, stop by after 12nn so you get the full menu. Go give them a try!
It was a pretty good brunch! Id say middle of the road brunch classic. Ill definitely go back for the Filipino food, and maybe change my ranking after I try that!
Lovely location - great food, consistency, and friendliness. Chris and his wife Hermie are so kind. Our fam has visited about half a dozen times and kids love it. All-day breakfast means they can order pancakes for supper (lol) and a ton of options on adult menu makes returning an adventure each time. The 4 items from Filipino menu that weve tried were excellent. Looking forward to trying more! Club sandwich is legit; lots of other typical pub-food options, too! :) Kid-friendliness: Our fam of four young kiddos has visited about half a dozen times and are met with smiles and genuine kindness every time. Chris will interact with kids and you can tell he gets it :)
2 for 16 mimosas and amazing breakfast!!
The food was delicious! We ordered Tapa and Pork Sisig. Highly recommend the Tapa! The beef was so tender. The service was really good. The servers are attentive. Highly recommend!
Great spot for weekday breakfast. Wide selection of menu items. Service was excellent and food was great. Not very busy so a great place to do some work during the afternoon. Will be going back.
The food here is amazing and they were super accommodating to our large brunch group! Will definitely come here again!
Delicious Filipino food! Will visit again!
My friends and I went here on a Friday night, and we had the best time! The food was delicious and reminded of home-cooking. Karaoke was so much fun (its always is with my crew). Can t wait to come back! Food
Great food and accommodated our party of 12, overall very good experience.
Amazing super great hit spot! Authentic portions and huge taste!! Drink Red Horse beer and sing well. 20 Stars
Great value and big fan of Filipino breakfast. I wish the sign would be a bit more appealing as I didn t notice it right away Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendly
Great place and even better food. Everyone here is kind.
LOTS of breakfast options and big portions. Comfy booths and cool open layout. Friendly owner!
I liked the place, its clean, spacious, and the food was excellent. I ordered the large breakfast, it was delicious. I will definitely be back.
Tried this place for the first time and it did not disappoint. We got the grilled cheese benny and the cheese steak benny and both were delicious. Portion sizes were generous. Service was great. Will definitely be back to try some of the Filipino dishes on the menu!
This will be our go-to silog breakfast place and definitely recommended. The place is very spacious. Theres a nearby Green P parking and also accessible via TTC. Food is great! They have a variety of option - Canadian and Filipino foods. Portion is big and tastes good! Will go back to try the Friday Karaoke! They also have Trivia nights. Only comment is for the menus to be more readable. The font used and how light it was printed is kinda hard to read. But food and service is great!
Great dinner at Hermies. Lots of variety, all day breakfast is a huge win for families. Cant wait to try more of the Filipino dishes. The Kare Kare was excellent. Super friendly staff, and decent prices.
Just had coffee and toast but service was good. Wasnt pushy, offered to fill my cup again. Music was good and had me reminiscing... Much bigger inside than I would have figured from the outside.
My third time coming to this restaurant and wanted to bring my family for brunch. The service was sub par and could do a little more attention to detail, but that wasn t the problem. The problem was the Filipino food. Spring rolls were store bought and not fresh. Charging $15 is overkill for 5 spring rolls. I had the Sisig and my wife had the Bicol express. They gave me the skin and fat for the Sisig from the pork belly and the lean meat for the Bicol express. I felt cheated in some way because the Sisig was drenched in fat. My wife and I felt gross right after and it didn t sit well in our stomachs. Owner: Please do Filipino food justice and you know what you are serving isn t to the standards, because you are taking shorts cuts to be more cost effective. The food speaks for itself.
I know Filipino Spaghetti is quite polarizing, but I really enjoyed it. The food was pretty good all around, the deep fried mushrooms, I would pass on, and although the home made spring rolls are in the dinner section, they do not come with a side, this contradicts the menu.
Hermie s has a great assortment of breakfast/brunch dishes with generous portions and affordable prices. A lot of the other brunch spots in the area have long wait times, this is a somewhat hidden gem that has a lot of seating. Right away I liked they let you choose your seating and they serve delicious hot coffee quickly. The servers are friendly. The interior design has nice use of wood materials and photos of the Philippines on the wall. There s a little bit of wait for the food but it s well worth it for the amount of fresh food you are getting. I got the big breakfast with a pancake. I had sunny side eggs, which were fried on the edges with creamy yolks in the centre. The home fries are delicious, crispy and well salted. The bacon portion is generous and well cooked. The sausage was slightly charred but still good. The pancake was massive and fluffy. Could have been slightly more cooked and maybe better if it was two thinner pancakes instead of one huge one. Overall generous portions. I would come here again to try their other dishes too.
A neighborhood gem. Owned and operated by a husband and wife couple (mom and pop). They ve got a fairly eclectic menu of Western dishes and some really interesting Filipino dishes snuck in there. We had the Filipino stuff, cos eh I can fry an egg pretty good myself, but I sure as hell don t know how to cook any Filipino dishes. We liked their food. My exposure to Filipino food compared to other cuisine is somewhat limited. I ve had mixed experiences. This one though, was really good. Will go back to try more. Go support this local business and help them survive as the neighborhood scales up.
Ordered the fish and chips and was disappointed to find out that it didnt come with tartar sauce of any sort. I only got ketchup, which I had to eat with everything. BUT the fish was very meaty. It doesnt justify spending $23 bucks though. *To the owner that replied to my review. This was my opinion of my experience when I came in to order. Nor did anyone tell me about the outage of the tartare sauce. When asked, they said no it doesnt. They offered other sauces from Costco bottles. I said no thank you. They also didnt say anything about a drink coming with it. Some places offer a drink with dine in only. I didnt look at the menu since I looked up the menu online and it didnt state that. **please do not justify my experience or defend it. I will delete these portions of my review when you have deleted your reply. Thank you
Amazing service and really great food!
So glad we decided to check out Hermies - if youre hungry this is the place to go! Generous portions and an excellent variety of all day breakfast items with some Filipino dishes mixed in there as well. Will definitely be back!
This is amazing breakfast place, we come here 3 times a month .that should tell you all!!
The avocado toast was so good!
Great breakfast options. Food was tasty and service spot on.
Really good philipino style breakfast and a really unique decor
Not sure why this place is always empty. Insanely good portion sizes, a decently sized menu and friendly staff.
Really nice and spacious spot. High seat leather booths, filipino breakfast was something new to me! Came from ottawa so we definitely dont have anything like this. Truly enjoyed the pan fried milk fish experience. Crispy! And the pancake was divine and fluffy.
Good food. Will come back for sure. I recommend fish sisig!
Their pancake is a must try! Love the Filipino style brunch! Food is yummy and service is great! The space is quite big and comfy too!
Was staying in the area (from out of town) and met a long-time friend there. A comfortable, family-type atmosphere. I had a Filipino breakfast and it was wonderful. Staff is very attentive and friendly. You sense they care--the manager came by multiple times to see how everything was. Fabulous experience all around!
The breakfast items are to die food. A little on the pricey side tho. But taste great!!!
Food was delicious. We ordered an omelette and Filipino smoked fish breakfast. Delighted with our choices both were scrumptious. Our new favorite brekkie spot.
Excellent service, very accommodating. Food was excellent and plentiful. Good hot coffee.
Very reasonable price and service was really great. Hermie and husband was really awesome
Ordered the special breakfast advertised out front with a pineapple juice! Food was very healthy and comfortable even after leaving. Like the food didnt feel heavy at all. Great service and I love the dimmer vibe for my light sensitive eyes and its a bit more rustic and cozy interior. I didnt personally drink - my friend did and he loved it. We were told by the owner that he prefers to support local, so much of his beverages are from Ontario! Talk about supporting the community and tasting great! I highly recommend a visit! I want to go back and try another dish myself! Thank you again for the wonderful experience!
Glad to have a Filipino food option in the Leslieville area!
A hidden gem in the city. Absolutely love the breakfast food here, it s become a favorite after going just a few times. They have the best home fries I ve ever had. Portions are huge, service is great, and love the free coffee with the meal. Kid-friendliness: Space for strollers, lower booths are good with kids. Service is quick.
Food is always delicious with great portions. They are very accommodating, and really make you feel like youre eating at home!
Beautiful interior and friendly service, but most importantly delicious food at a great price! We love coming here for breakfast but need to check out the dinner soon too. A hidden gem! Vegetarian options: Meatless breakfast Wheelchair accessibility: Open floor plan
Good food, I had the clubhouse sandwich and fries, both were quite good. Everyone in my group seemed happy with their food. The server was friendly and helpful. We were a group of 10 plus a toddler and he was quite accommodating. My only complaint is there was no change area for babies. There was a change station, however it was sitting uninstalled on the floor in the hallway, and there were no countertops or anything in any of the bathrooms. Kneeling on the bathroom floor (although it did seem clean, thankfully) to change a toddler is not fun.
Need to hire another server and possibly more kitchen staff. It should not take 30 minutes to make a burger. sat there for 45 minutes. no food. I had to leave as I had to go back to work. (one of my colleagues brought it to me) I wanted to order authentic Filipino food but was told that would take longer.
Amazing place, amazing food and service. I got Benedict eggs on top of grilled sandwich and cant wait to get back!!! Coffe and regular tea included on the meal, mushrooms and onions for free on the fries. We really loved and enjoy our breakfast at Hermies
Open early (8am) has a lot to offer at a great price. Karaoke and trivia some nights!
Great food and huge portions!
Vegetarian options: Accommodating Dietary restrictions: Accommodating Parking: Paid street parking Kid-friendliness: Definitely Wheelchair accessibility: Yes
Always great food, friendly staff. Coffees better! Sad this location is closing! Well priced
Fantastic breakfast spot. The owner was very accommodating for my pregnant girlfriend and I. The food was great too. Come check this place out before it closes down!
Great food and friendly service. Such a bummer they are closing, hopefully they can start up again somewhere else!
Lacks authenticity. The burgers etc are good but fillipino food is not authentic
