Weve been going to Janelles for a couple of years now and every-time is SO GOOD. We love the cozy and homey atmosphere with Janelle cooking it up right in clear view. The delicious scents of her fresh baked bread. Everything is so fresh and made with so much love. We always get the same thing when we come in: French toast, vegan BLT with an egg and the breakfast sandwich. If you havent tried her vegan bacon, its a must! Having their French toast was like waking up from the Matrix and realizing I d never had real French toast before. Absolutely EPIC! This is one of the cutest cafes I have ever been to! It reminded me of my mother s home cooked meals while also blowing me away with flavor. The breakfast sandwich is made with these perfectly fluffy and slightly gooey eggs and the baguette it s put on has a slight crunch on the outside with a soft center. It might be my favorite breakfast sandwich ever! I got the butternut squash soup as well and it really soothed my sore throat. The decor is very cozy and homey. I also got some orange juice which was pulpy (my favorite) and a cappuccino which was very fluffy (it won t beat out a high end well made La Marzocco cafe s, but it was well made nonetheless!). I only wish I was here longer so I could back!

Wonderful place to come get a bite to eat. I tried the roast beef brie sandwich with caramelized onions. It came out very fresh and cooked to perfection with the right amount of meat to cheese ratio. Janelle has a wonderful personality and is a joy to speak to. And Lenny is very courteous and sweet, they both run this gem in harmony. As the place is small it fills up fast but they do their best to get everyone taken care of.

I get the breakfast sandwich once a month or so. If were wanting a lazy weekend morning, Janelles is our go-to take-out default. The food is always amazing, the service is wonderful, the vibe is cozy and welcoming. Vegetarian options: Breakfast sandwich is normally with prosciutto chips, can replace with avocado and/or tomato.

My partner and I had a great experience at Janelle. Our server was very friendly and attentive and food was sooo delicious( the roast beef brie sandwich is a must-have). We ll definitely come back !

This place is amazing. So cozy and every element of the meal is so well done - even down to the salad dressing and the bread accompaniments. We had the spinach and cheese crepes and quiche - best in the city. An added bonus is the team there is so personable and friendly.

I went to Janelles Kitchen just now for brunch. I felt like I was back in Paris, in a lovely little village, having breakfast. This place is absolutely charming and actually makes you feel nostalgic about France, if you have been there. And the food is fresh, healthy, and absolutely delicious! Janelle came up to me to ask me if I enjoyed the meal. That is special. And the server, Lenny is friendly, warm, and kind. Both Janelle and Lenny seem like genuine human beings. I can sit here for hours because the ambience just grabs you. It is small, warm, and inviting - also feels like you are sitting in the kitchen of someone you love while they are preparing a meal for you right in front of you. So grateful I found this place. Cant wait to go back!

this place transported me to some part of europe. felt like i was on vacation / travelling. hard to recommend due to tiny portions and some of the worst coffee ive ever had.

The food was immaculate, the atmosphere very cozy and you leave with your belly full and your mind at ease! A must try, I brought my cousin here from LA and we both fell in love!

Couldn t have enjoyed our meal here more. We stopped in with our baby and Janelle and the other server (didn t catch their name) were so friendly and accommodating. (Note - there is a change table jn the washroom). Breakfast sandwich is to die for. But recommend also not missing out on the scone buttered with the freshest tasting strawberry jam. All very affordable for brunch downtown. The best part however was the feeling you have of warm coziness and and knowing that the food is made with lots of love and joy.

Wow, believe the 5 star rating! 4 years at this location. Breakfast sandwich was outstanding, cappuccino was great too. Very cozy atmosphere, not suited for groups larger than 3. Perfect date spot for breakfast brunch or lunch. Probably underpriced, $20 with tip included. Classical music and walls covered by paintings of local artists for sale. A little noisy from College St traffic but doesnt diminish a unique experience. Ill be back here soon.

This is such a great little hidden gem! There s very limited seating, so make sure to get here early! They have a cute handwritten menu with lots of options. They had oat milk for my coffee and a vegan blt on the menu. Unfortunately I have a wheat allergy. Janelle made me a blt salad with a potato roasti on the side. It was very delicious! The bacon was so crispy and flavourful! The service was so friendly and wonderful, I will definitely be back soon!

A friend brought me here and the staff was so kind despite being so busy. Thank you for accomodating us on such short notice! Got the omellete of the day and it was delicious. Omellete was nice and creamy. Greens w a nice touch of acidity. The bread and butter was also great. Soup of the day was okay! Wished it was abit creamier but definitely rustic and homey. It s a small place so it can feel alil cramped and its hard to get a table. BUT it feels like your grandmas house with sentimental trinkets and quirky artwork. Charming

The best place I ve been to recently! I felt like I was in a French family. French toast was incredible and Omelette was super soft Orange juice was really fresh! Me and my friend had a great time. The server was nice and kind!! I will definately come again

I found this place by chance and popped in for brunch. I ordered the omelette of the day consisting of red pepper and Swiss cheese with a side of fresh baked bread and salad. I also ordered a tea. I have to say that although this restaurant is small, it is mighty in every way. The owner cooks your meal in arms length of your table which, the server was SO NICE and kind and sweet and engaging. I cant recall his name but he was great. The decor reminds me of my grandmothers kitchen as does the delicious meal I ate. It felt like home. I will absolutely go back and I highly recommend this special little place.

This cozy home-kitchen nook is one of my favourite lunch spots with comfort food, jazz on the radio and cottage-style decor. The owner Janelle is so sweet and friendly, it feels like your aunt is cooking for you. I always get the breakfast sandwich with prosciutto chips and warm, buttery and moist scrambled eggs. Janelle is very accommodating with customizations so I always jack the sandwich up with avocado and tomatoes. I also like the smoked salmon with horseradish sauce, scrambled eggs and potato rosti. I like to unwind with the comforting and affordable food, surrounded by the works of local artists on the walls, and in a soothing ambience livened by the conversations of the many regulars. Vegetarian options: Theres a vegan BLT sandwich made of marinated and toasted rice paper, very unique! You can also modify many items to make them vegetarian. Dietary restrictions: Janelle is very accommodating, just ask and shell work something out! Kid-friendliness: Ive seen several parents bring their children and babies to eat here.

Fantastic customer service, friendly atmosphere and amazing home-cooked food

Wow. Perfectly cooked eggs! The chef really knows what shes doing! The breakfast sandwich is absolutely delicious and cant wait to try more from the menu!

I was looking for a spot to meet with an old friend. Saw a few folks sitting at Janelles and the little neon sign beckoned us. We perused the handwritten menus and decided on omelets. Soon after, we received what I consider a perfect omelette with a super-fresh side salad tossed in delicious vinaigrette and a piece of recently out-of-the-oven bread...with a pat of room-temperature butter. I requested some jam and some deliciously chunky homemade peach jam appeared instantly. Janelle runs the place herself and does an amazing job. I have mixed feelings about telling the world...I think her business is going to be a tremendous success!! This is a rare find and Janelle a special person.

The business hours are from 8-4, so If youre looking for a cozy place to have some breakfast or brunch; would definitely recommend checking this out. Her breakfast sandwich, which is only $9.50 (runs all day), is way better than any other fast food chain breakfast menu Ive had. Until recently, Janelle was the chef at Bonjour Brioche for more than a decade and has now ventured out on her own! Shes also an incredible Barista and Im pretty picky with my coffee. The menu is small but mighty: an assortment of quiches baked fresh daily , omelettes and a variety of sandwiches made to order. Superb!
