JohnnyGs redefined ! serving cabbage town, old Toronto since 1975, carrying forward the legacy of serving great food and drinks known for its authenticity and legacy in hospitality.
I was exploring Cabbagetown neighborhood during my visit in Toronto and I discovered Johnny G's Cafe in Cabbagetown. What a pleasant surprise! It's a cozy place with a very friendly and accommodating staff. I'm following a fitness meal plan and it's very important for me to have a wholesome meal that prepared with fresh ingredients. The menu has vegetarian options and proteins ( eggs, sausages ) as well. My brunch was super delicious! Definitely, I will be back when I will be traveling to Toronto again. Thank you for the great service!
If you're looking for a top-notch brunch, this is the place to be. Their Egg Benedict was a standout—perfectly poached eggs over a buttery English muffin. The salmon was equally impressive. The dish was light yet satisfying, and the service was warm and attentive. A must-try for anyone craving a refined yet comforting brunch experience!
This is a hidden gem. It might looked closed but it is open and their Indian food is far better than most in Toronto. We had all chicken dishes however I would order them all over and over again. Such a delicious experience.
Follow @bredgyeats for more food photos! American diner by day, Indian by night, you could stay here the whole day and travel the world, especially with the exquisite Southeastern delights. You're first served a free amuse bouche that bursts with Indian spices like fenugreek, coriander, chilli and cumin and topped with a slightly tangy coriander and sweet tamarind chutney. I loved the saag lamb, notably due to the fragrant spinach aroma and a well-homogenized texture where the oil hasn't split, resulting in a rich but not too heavy bite. The pieces of lamb are tender, each with a distinct lamby aroma that I love. Then the creamy garlic chicken is exactly what it describes to be, a rich sauce with a pungent garlicky flavour nicely coats pieces of silky smooth chicken, drizzled with a sweet plum sauce around the perimeter for a slight bit of tang and sweetness. Both of these aren't complete with either rice or naan, but you can't get complacent with these simple dishes that are fundamental to each bite.
me and my friend were here for brunch. we really loved the blueberry pancake combo along side with clubhouse sandwich and burger. do visit
Today I visited Johnny G’s Cafe By The Chef and had such a wonderful experience! The ambiance is cozy and welcoming, perfect for a relaxed meal. The menu offers a great selection of delicious dishes, and everything I tried was packed with flavor. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. Special thanks to Saya for the excellent service—this place truly exceeded expectations! Highly recommend for anyone looking for a new go-to spot in the area. Can’t wait to return!
If you're looking for a hidden gem in Toronto, this cozy spot in Cabbagetown is a must-visit! As one of the oldest restaurants in the area, it offers a fantastic selection of breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. The decor creates a warm and inviting atmosphere, making the dining experience truly enjoyable. Don't miss out on the chef's new Indian and Hakka fusion dishes—they're exceptional! I can’t wait to return with friends!
Best Hidden Gem in Toronto❤️ This place is legit a must try. With a cozy vibe this place truly depicts one of the oldest restaurants in cabbage town!😊 They have an array of dishes to try from including breakfast, lunch and dinner options. The aesthetic decor makes the dine-in experience more realistic. Even the new launch by the chef for Indian & Hakka Fusion in the menu is a must try!❤️ Definitely will come back here with my friends!🥳
Good food, great atmosphere and the staff are simply superb.
Very professional, Great customer service and amazing food .
Great place!
Our Server Saya was so friendly and the food was awesome!
Thank you so much for amazing food and service! We will definitely go back for brunch again:)
Amazing food great staff. Highly recommended
Meh
Wonderful place and very reasonable prices. Got a $10 coupon and got a full breakfast under $4 ($7 with tip). I went for breakfast both times. Give it a go if you like eating at a local greasy spoon instead of Dennys or the like. Awesome service and food came to my table reasonably fast. Parking: Park on the street if you want and take your chances. I for one will never drive around Toronto due to parking issues. Arrived by foot both times Kid-friendliness: Family friendly for sure but did not see any children when I was there. Wheelchair accessibility: Easy access from the street but might be a bit congested inside. The bathroom is in the basement down a set of narrow set of stairs.
Very good Dining services and very awesome and genuine taste of Naan, butter chicken and paneer. Special thank you towards Saya very good person.
The best go-to brunch to dinner resto in town! Always love their breakfast menu! Food
My husband and I are regulars here and everytime we come, we leave with smiles on our faces. The food delicious and atmosphere is cosy for those wintery cold days. We look forward to the complementary fruit bowls we get everytime. We are never disappointed! They staff are always so friendly and hardworking.
Happened upon this restaurant and was so grateful that we did! The server was so friendly and attentive and the food was delicious!
I wanted to give them more than 5 stars because everything was so good. We had paneer tikka masala, daal makhani and garlic naan along with couple of drinks. Everything was delicious. It was our first experience in this restaurant. My husband and I enjoyed everything here. Will come more often. Thank you for the great service !!
Everything went well especially the waiter Saya is very accommodating and friendly. The food is fantastic! we will definitely coming back
Great breakfast with excellent service and winderful behaviour. Highly recommended.
The best indian restaurant in downtown. Period. They start serving indian cuisines after 4PM, and hands down, the taste takes you back to the sizzling streets of india. Food
Amazing food, the staff were all really nice. I even got a complimentary fruit bowl and $10 coupon!
excellent medium well steak by the chef and thank u saya for your recommendations . gonna come back
Had my first dining experience last evening, and it was absolutely delightful! I fell in love with the cozy ambiance and the exceptional service so polite and welcoming. I highly recommend this outlet to everyone! A special shoutout to Sayaa Rai for making the evening so memorable with his amazing service. And guess what? They surprise you with complimentary snacks! Such a sweet touch definitely coming back!
Great service and food!
Recommend everyone to try the Johnny G s burguer! Great place
Love it here at Johnny G s! Such friendly staff, great food, and better prices. Would totally recommend and plan to come back, A LOT!
We ended up at this cafe by accident for our last meal before leaving Toronto. Both of us agreed it was our favourite breakfast spot on the whole trip.
Been here in the past for breakfast several times. Popped in this week and there are new owners. The coffee was watery and my over easy eggs were not cooked. They werent even warm. Will not return.
An amazing experience thank you so much saya !
I just discovered Johnny Gs for breakfast. Excellent traditional big breakfasts with a lot of options. I had the corner beef hash... So good! Im going to come back and try their dinner menu for authentic Indian, too.
I had an amazing time at Johnny G s! The ambiance was warm and welcoming, and the service was spot-on. Every dish we tried, especially the Johnny G s Burger, was beautifully presented and packed with flavor. Great place for a memorable meal can t wait to go back! This captures the highlights while keeping it brief and positive!
Tried so many food items, food was really good, good atmosphere, amazing customer service especially servers are really nice. Do visit you ll definitely like it.
I had the best creamy garlic chicken at johnny G it was so good. And the service was pretty good. Thankyou saya for the wonderful service. Definitely would come back.
Got the mushroom omelet for breakfast. Awesome food and the prices were very decent
The experience and the employees in the restaurant was A one
I just had an amazing meal at Johnny Gs Cafe! I ordered the fried rice and noodles, and both were fantastic. The flavors were spot on, and the food was cooked to perfection. The service was equally impressive Shristi took great care of us, making sure we had everything we needed. A special shoutout to the chef, Nirajan, for preparing such delicious dishes. Overall, a wonderful experience, and I ll definitely be returning soon! Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for great food and excellent service.
Me and my frns had a delightful time , enjoying the delecious appetizers, and the buriyani was so full of flavours
Best food in the town. Saya is the greatest host on the world!
While staying in Cabbagetown I found Johnnys because of the late breakfast. They served me up some of the best bennies Ive had, with the eggs poached to perfection. I decided to come back for dinner and the evening Hakka fare is equally good. Ive had $300 meals in Toronto and this is still one of my favourite spots. Thanks, Saya, for the great service!
A wonderful breakfast spot. Nothing fancy but very cozy and great service. A real gem in the neighborhood. I will be returning soon!
Vegetarian options: Veg fried rice loved it! Food
I like the surrounding. The staff are also friendly and food is really good.
The flavors were fresh, the food was well-prepared, and the service was friendly. I definitely recommend checking this place. Great job Saya and the team. Enjoyed your service!!!
Hats off to chef Dinesh, the food was amazing. Tried indian and hakka cuisine which they start from 4 pm now. Service was mind blowing . Will come back for sure
Excellent service and wow to the chef for amazing lamb rogan josh . Went well with garlic naan
Food was great
I came here vibing the autumn season entry and it was the best choice I made. I tried tikka burger, Omelette and French fries for breakfast and it was worth it. Great service by Saya & Shristi! Must visit once!
Chef Dinesh never dissappoint us. He has magic in his hands with full of expertise in the field. Super highly recommended to the people in town. MUST VISIT and give them a chance to serve you once. And I BET YOU WILL COME AGAIN IF YOU LOVE FLAVOURS. Wheelchair accessibility: Yes
We are repeat visitors to this excellent breakfast spot. The food is always spot on and the atmosphere is wonderful. Parking: Sundays before 1pm has free parking
Great location for a lunch
A praise for the chef and respect for the server!! Loved the food ! Liked the hospitality and the ambience
Tried chicken wings and chicken finger with french fries. It was filled with mouthful of taste and freshness. The service and ambience everything was perfectly in sync. Recommended to visit knce with friends and you won t regret it.
Best food ever I have try in toronto
Samosa and mozzarella cheese sticks was really good.
The best dining experience with two of my friends. Cant wait to visit for the breakfast menu next time.
I don t knowwww. I don t write negative reviews but this was kind of gross. I was liking this place. I came yesterday and today and I thought the food was decent and the staff were nice but charging $2 to use a drop of maple syrup (not even in a side dish- I used hardly any from a syrup bottle), without mentioning it- that just left a bad taste in my mouth. I had a coffee, a pancake and added blueberries, which wasn t blueberry pancakes which I thought it would be- more of a compote on top, and added sausage. Maple syrup is expensive. (So are restaurants). Table syrup is included, which should be mentioned, but wasn t and is just I think tacky and in bad judgment. I ve never in my life left a breakfast spot and noticed I was charged to use maple syrup with pancakes. That personally turned me off and it s unfortunate because I live in the area. I won t be back, sorry. That wasn t cool
We were surprised by the immaculate Presentation of the food , how delicious and fresh the food was and the generous portion size this place is a hidden gem probably the best Indian food I had in the city! Food
Dont let the look of this place fool you. This is no regular breakfast place. After 4pm you can order Indian dishes. The food tasted very clean and delicious. The presentation was amazing. Portion sizes and prices were great. Im a vegan and loved the options.
Amazing restaurant! It shows how much effort the chef has put into the dishes
Amazing place if you are looking for indian hakka cusine
The staff is very sweet. The food is amazing and authentic I was treated with a special little welcoming gift and the mango lassi with pomegranate garnish is phenomenal.
Ready to level up your food game? Head over to @johnnygcafe because theyve got everything youre looking for! Their food is just the perfect mix of savory and delightful flavors that will keep you coming back for more!
Johnny G s Cafe ( 478 Parliament St ) is a must visit place. I came here for lunch today and it was the best experience with ambient cool atmosphere.
ate off the dinner menu - vindaloo and biryani were excellent! friendly staff and delicious food.
Tried one 5 star breakfast as dine in and noodles at Johnnygscafe. It was freshly made. A mood delighting food you can get here in downtown.
Loved the place. Situated in one of the most peaceful areas of the city, this place is amazing. The food is delicious and the best part is it is freshly served once the order is made. Good for family, couples and friends equally. Their parathas are specially yummy so if you like Indian food, do check out the place and I highly recommend it as well.
Yummy food.
Food is great, 7:30 am to 3:00 pm family type breakfast and lunch dishes. 3:30 pm to 10:00 pm Indian and Hakka. Atmosphere small town burger & breakfast decor. Food : 5/5
Was running late for work and was craving for some quick breakfast and came upon this amazing cafe on the way. The food was amazing and was one of the best french toast i ever had the vibe was also a perfect match and the hospitality was beyond what you would expect. Reasonable price, good hospitality and best food. Will surely visit there again and would recommend the same.
Was waiting for bus and rain came puring so went in there for some roof ordered the chaat to pass the time but was unexpectedly good. Would go there again. The vibe is also hood with friendly staffs. Would recommend yall if you like indian/nepali dishes with a slight western twist.
Awesome place to have dinner at. Good vibes. Great service! Chief is super good and rest of the staff is super sweet.
Spicy 5 star chicken chilli momo and crispy french fries at Johnny gs cafe. Must try once with family.
Best customer service. And great food. Must visit!! Food
I had grilled salmon and salt and pepper tofu yesterday. It was really good. Definitely worth a visit!
This is the best restaurant with an amazing food. Specially the Indian food, its soo apt to our Indian taste. Their amazingly sweet and caring services enhanced the experience. They are always alert. This is the only place I have confidently tried all dishes over my so many visits. Specially their samosa and Savoury chat. Dont miss out on lachha parantha with your dish (paneer makhni for me). To top it up I have always got a complimentary dish which is always mind blowing. 100/10 for sure. Vegetarian options: Veg samosa, savoury chat, cauliflower bites, paneer makhni, dal makhni, noodles etc etc etc
Very interesting place with a beautiful ambience. In the morning they have the most lovely breakfast. All three of us ordered variants of the eggs Benedict. Delicious!! Have not tried the Indian / Hakka food but worth a visit just for the ambience and breakfast
Very bad service ..
Great food great staff. Prices are decent and a nice location
Great food and amazing team. Definitely recommend!
Decent brunch but the tip options are outrageous. Starting at 20% and ending at 35%. Totally turned me off from returning.
I really liked this place. I got an Indian omelette which was delicious. The service was good. It was a little busy and service was maybe slower than it may have usually been, but I wasn t in a rush. I would have given them 5 stars but dropped one for the fact that the tip suggestion STARTS at 20% for okay service. I was pretty happy with the place but I m always hesitant to return when I see this on the machines and have avoided other restaurants in the past which have done the same. If this is their expectation, I m happy to dine elsewhere.
It is safe to say that this place is one of the best brunches in Toronto! The owner is very nice and humble! Great experience. Definitely going back Food
Very terrible food and very bad customer dealing and the owner is the worst. They should close this cafe and throw their food out. They dont even treat their staff respectfully. Worst place to pass time also.
The treatment and service is so bad and they are not that active with their service . I heard that that the staff was also treated badly and they do not respect the atmosphere with the customers.
Lovely little spot, wonderful service
Came here to get a small meal after the parade. Enjoyed the onion bhajis. The papadums were good, interesting cone shape. Got the dumplings when I was hoping to get something like chicken pakora. It wasnt but it was still good. The staff gave us a free app in a shot glass which was very tasty too. No idea what it was. The presentation was gorgeous.
Went to dine in for dinner. Best naan I ever had. I enjoyed everything about this place. Will come back again
Excellent service, the staff was very welcoming. Absolutely loved it
Very reasonably priced for Toronto
Great food. The pancakes are donut-like. Super friendly staff, and they give you a cite little bowl of fruit!
Just had 2 beer. The waiter was great Food
Nice restaurant on Parliament Street in Toronto. Stop in and meet the owner Dinesh.
I d give this place zero stars if I could. I just contacted them asking if they could share their email address so that I can send my comments below about my order from today, and the person who answered my call said something incoherent about the website and hung up on me while I was asking for clarification. First of all, I called because there s no email address on their website. Second, I ordered my food through their app, which wasn t updating, though I received an email update which said my food would be ready in approximately 1 hr (I ordered 10:30-ish and pick up time was 11:20-ish), for an omelette and sausages. An hour wait time for a 3-egg omelette and sausages is pretty ridiculous. Especially when I come in, and it s not busy with customers or take out orders lined up. It was literally just me and one person sitting in. Third, the food was practically inedible. Their home fries were bland and undercooked, the sausages tasted as though they were fried in old oil and they used processed swiss cheese in the omelette and overall had the texture of rubber. And nothing was hot (ie, it must have been sitting there for a while, even though I arrived on time for my pick-up). I m very disappointed in what I received and my overall experience with this place. I would not have left these comments here had I received a proper email address as I don t like to leave negative reviews on small businesses, but being hung up on mid-sentence when all I was asking for was an email address was completely uncalled for and I wouldn t want other customers to experience that. UPDATE: The manager called me back after digging into this issue and provided me with a refund. He was very apologetic for the miscommunication, which I m grateful for and look forward to trying their food next time.
The evening/after 4 pm menu through Cafe by the Chef/Indian & Hakka is incredible. Johnny G s is the name of the restaurant with the brunch menu. The savory samosa is bursting with interesting flavours (and pomegranate seeds). I hope one day they can add samosa chaat to their regular menu :) The chicken biryani was delectable, lamb rogan josh was delicious and the butter chicken was full of creamy goodness. Wish we could order their dinner menu any time of the day! There is no msg that I could detect in the food, all the wonderful spices/flavours are natural and delicious! The chef is very sweet, wait staff were extremely attentive, patient and helpful. We can t wait to go back!!
Upscale Hakka Restaurant.. Very good customer service. Food was delicious.. Loved the ambience.. Food
We ordered a large order of an assortment of items and we were so pleased with everything. We will definitely be back!!
This restaurant offers a relatively affordable dining experience compared to its nearby options. The prices are reasonable, making it an accessible option for those seeking a casual meal without breaking the bank.
Went for dinner with my partner it was fantastic, they went above and beyond to make us feel special.
This is a fantastic spot for breakfast. It s cozy and welcoming. The service is so friendly and professional. They never overwhelm but never leave you wanting. It s a great vibe and fairly priced.
Fantastic food and service for great price. Will definitely be back!
Food took way longer to cook than we thought. Only us two and one other customer. 2 burgers with fries = 30mins+. This is the only place Id request to get my fries salted. Ordered their salmon omelette last visit and it was literally a flat scrambled egg sandwich with salmon in the middle. I wouldnt call omelette. Thought Id give them one more shot and it definitely became the one last shot.
Old world greasey diner in Cabbagetown. Both lunch choices and all-day breakfast. Service was good. Value for food . Good portions. Vegetarian options: My friend had the vegetarian optio n was very pleased. Mentioned wanting to come back.
Jhony G Cafe offers a cozy atmosphere, attentive service, and delicious food. Each dish bursts with flavor, and the staff go above and beyond to ensure a memorable experience. A must-visit for anyone craving a culinary delight.
Horrible service! Stopped by for lunch today at exactly noon.. they told me and my husband to sit in between these other two squished together tables.. we wanted to sit by the window and they refused to let us saying they were closing the window. As a social media influencer with a million followers, I will have millions of new reviews on this business within the month, they will have a 1 star rating by the time I m finished with them. Just goes to show, you never know who is a patron at your restaurant. Might have a famous person and not even know it.
Horrendous food Owner was drunk and babbling about indian cuisine Not an ounce of respect for the customers Not recommended Food : 1/5 |
Owner was an absolute mess! Was screaming at the server for his own mistake Its good to correct your staffs but not infront of the whole restaurant! Feeling bad for the girl owner needs to rethink his life! Food : 1/5
Just love this place, been here for more than 5 times and everytime i was served with the best food Ive ever tasted Highly recommended place for delicious food Food
Best Indian taste, hospitality. Definitely worth the try.
Just moved to the neighbourhood and decided to Johhny Gs a try! Such a sweet, quaint spot with friendly service and good food. They even gave us a sample of their mango lassi which was delicious. Will be back!
Lovely food and great customer service
Thank you, Saya, for the amazing service. We had a great time here. The dessert and chicken tikka were delicious! Lovely spot in the middle of Cabbagetown will recommend it for sure
Waited 35 minutes for a order of fish n chips and a toasted egg and bacon sandwich (comes with fries and coleslaw)! But we did receive a complimentary bowl of fruits (and didnt have to pay for the 3 extra coffee top ups)! Wheelchair accessibility: Tight space but my mothers walker was a great fit.
It s an old restaurant in Cabbage Town and it s ok, you ll get what you pay
Eggs were the size of quails eggs could have served large eggs, bacon was over cooked.
Dont dine here. After waiting over 40 minutes our food finally arrived and tasted flavourless, but very spicy. Once the bill came, the server held the POS firmly in their hand making it hard for us to pay a tip that was deserving of our experience. We felt forced to pay a minimum tip of 20% for sub-par food.
Very good customer care ,nice food prepared and tailored to customer preference
Food was good, atmosphere was homely, service was great. We got complimentary fruit bowls too for being nice customers...I guess? Food : 4/5
Hello Dinesh sir h r u me Sunil from India
Super friendly staff and quick service. Had their banana and chocolate waffle and it was great!
Exceptional flavors and impeccable service make dining at Jhonny Gs a true delight! The Indian Hakka cuisine here is a symphony of spices, offering a perfect balance of heat and savory goodness. From the aromatic Manchurian dishes to the mouthwatering Hakka noodles, each bite is a culinary journey worth savoring. The cozy ambiance adds to the overall dining experience, making it a top choice for both casual outings and special occasions. Highly recommended!
Good food for the price with a lot of varied selection, a nice neighbourhood staple. Art on the walls is also very interesting. Some might find it a bit small, but its cozy. Staff are really nice as well
Thought it was fairly good
Great ideas for the food, friendly staff but awful execution... You order breakfast sausages and they serve you chopped up grilled vienna sausages.... Absolutely dreadful...
Friendly staff... but in reality they dont care... its sad theyve been here for such a long time... they need a more sunny disposition
Went with a group of 10 and had a great experience. Went with a group of 3 and we had an ok experience. So may not be consistent but I choose to remember the bigger group experience as I want to think this may be truer to their services. This is being run by new management (as of a couple years ago). We enjoyed all the dishes we got and the service was excellent. The prices were also great. They had specials that seemed to be around the theme of Indian food. After 4 , I believe the menu changes to Indian or Nepalese or a mix. Bathroom available. Not recommended for wheelchair accessibility.
Lovely food lovely service atmosphere was so good.. just want to add need some air freshener or some lovely aromatic to elevate atmosphere on top this service. Vegetarian options: Have vegetarian options, too.
I went there for lunch. I ordered a Greek salad with chicken. The waitress looked so confused when I placed the order as if she has never heard of a salad with chicken on top. I waited 40 minutes for the salad, and it s because I asked them about my order after 30 minutes ( if I would have never asked, I don t know when it would have arrived). There was a few pieces of chicken. The chicken was soooo thinly sliced that it looked like sandwich meat and not an actual piece of a chicken breast! I asked the staff to put the salad in a take out container since my lunch was over and needed to get back to work and they didn t even provide a plastic fork! It cost $18.00! Biggest waste of money! Avoid going there! It s under new ownership, use to be a lot better!
Randomly found this casual breakfast place on a Tuesday morning. Waitress greeted with a Friendly smile. Had the continental breakfast and a coffee. Delicious, good portion and very reasonable pricing. Very cozy atmosphere. Highly recommended in the cabbage town neighborhood!
Cozy vibe.. tasty chicken.. punchy drinks.. such nice staff .. totally recommend
Definitely coming back to this place for dinner menu such a rustic cafe in cabbage town
Good appetizer and great service. Cute little cafe!
Johny G Cafe is an amazing restaurant in Toronto! The cozy ambiance is just perfect. Lets talk about the food I absolutely love the potato gnocchi, and the Manchurian and kebab shots are simply amazing. They offer both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. A must-check-out place!
Wow! What a place! One of the oldest in town with great Indian Hakka fusion food. Dinner menu was amazing!
One of the finest cafe in Toronto, had dinner with some indian curries and hakka dishes, too notch flavour and service. Would repeat for sure
Food was amazing, staff was very friendly. Overall gave an old school vibe which I loved a lot.
Must visit. Such a courteous staff. Tried indian dinner. Will definitely come back to explore Breakfast menu. Amazing vibe!
Had a wonderful time with my friends! Loved their presentation and cozy ambiance!
Sirloin steak was really a beef patty made to look like steak. Very deceptive. Chef said he did nothing wrong. Be careful what is advertised and what you actually get. Not as advertised. Anyone who experiences this, please let me know
Johnny G Cafe in Toronto is a hidden gem worth discovering. From the moment you step inside, youre greeted with warmth and hospitality. The cozy atmosphere and new menu released is so yummy The menu boasts a variety of delectable options, from hearty breakfast and now serving lunch menu. Each dish is prepared with care and attention to detail, ensuring a burst of flavor with every bite. Whether youre looking for a quick bite on-the-go or a relaxed spot to enjoy your morning coffee, Johnny G Cafe exceeds expectations. A true gem in the heart of Toronto!
Loved this unique spot in cabbage town! Great food and warm cozy interiors, the presentation was impeccable!
Great place! Their Dal makhani is a must try!
Bad service
Poor service
Bad service
Really loved the atmosphere and food at this place! Their dinner menu is really good. Love the rustic Parisian vibe of this cafe.
Visited this place for a media event by Sakshi and loved it! Cozy little place - not the best for Indian food but the Gobi Manchurian was
The food, the service and the ambiance. Everything is 10/10. The Chef serves amazing food. Their passion for their craft can be seen and tasted in every single dish. Do visit this place. You won t regret it.
I didnt think naan could be this good, and thats just the beginning. Beautiful presentation of spectacular and delicious dishes. Highly recommend their evening menu.
I had the misfortune of dining at Jonny Gs Cafe, and it was an utterly disappointing experience. The service was sluggish, the staff seemed disinterested, and the food tasted like it had been reheated from yesterdays leftovers. The atmosphere was dull, and the overall cleanliness left much to be desired. Save yourself the disappointment and choose a different dining option.
Jonny Gs Cafe was a regrettable choice. The food was bland, service was slow, and the ambiance felt more like a cafeteria than a cafe. Not recommended.
worst cafe ever i went which got nothing like hospitality, manners with customers and employees and worst food ever i ate in my life
It was horrible. I would have never gone there.
This restaurant has no concept of hospitality or quality service. The decor looked like it was salvaged from a thrift store reject pile, with mismatched furniture and outdated fixtures that screamed neglect. The lighting was so dim I had to use my phones flashlight to read the menu, which, by the way, was a mishmash of uninspired dishes that lacked any semblance of creativity or overcooked, under-seasoned, and lacking any discernible flavor. Its as if the chef had given up halfway through preparing the meal. And dont even get me started on the dessert it tasted like it had been defrosted from a supermarket freezer aisle. It was clear that they had zero training in customer service or basic manners. To top it all off, the prices were exorbitant for the subpar quality of food and service we received. Its clear that Jonny G s Cafe is more interested in making a quick buck than providing a memorable dining experience. save your time and money and steer clear of this culinary disaster. There are plenty of other restaurants in the area that actually care about their customers and take pride in their food. Trust me, youll thank me later.
Great food at very affordable price. I love the vibe. Totally Aesthetic.
Amazing staff and food. Will definitely visit again
We found this cafe when we were desperate to find a good place. And hit the jackpot on Christmas day!!! Their service Top notch food quality AMAZING with the BEST price that I could imagine honestly I 100 percent recommend this place
terrible service, staff is not treated properly!
A very cute cafe with a cozy vibe. Food was fabulous as well as the service.
The food was beyond terrible. The staff were very kind and apologetic.
Family owned, prices all bellow $15 for brunch and for Toronto - is that even possible?! Food is good as any other dinner with menu of $19 plus for eggs. Music jazzy, comfort and service spot on. What else for easy Sunday morning !
Johnny Gs has been around along time ,and had several different owners. Its newest owner ,has put in a great effort to fix it up from its former self. New bathrooms, bench seating, lighting ,and paint. Breakfast is OK, but can be pricey for what you get. I know rent isnt cheap in cabbagetown. Breakfast is its main source of income. Its newest owner ,is from Nepal, and has implemented a dinner menu thats from Nepal, and India. The dinner crowd is not really happening and has massive competition, from House on parliament which is a more upscale venue. We have a few other restaurants and pubs that are competion as well. So my thoughts are he is trying to compete with places ,that are giving more atmosphere ,and better pricing for what I receive. Bowl of lentils, rice and lamb is 42 dollars approx, with tip, added to that. The prices for lentils, rice and side dishes I believe should be alot cheaper . Its not worth it in comparison to other places. I believe it would be better served by trying to be honest with themselves ,and getting more clients and serve more customers. Whats the point of having an empty diner, and expensive food that can be found cheaper elsewhere, thats just as good. So not overpricing, to get people in and have a full diner that is busy would be better served ,than expensive ,empty diner. This would also help min wage staff make money ,create a busy happy environment. Fancy signs, and menues ,web sites dont compete with great pricing and good food. These are just my thoughts from eating their for past 2.5 years. I also miss the cheerful girls that worked there that have been let go. Volume creates atmosphere, which makes money for business, and staff. empty makes no money, makes sad atmosphere . .Best Mike
Old fashioned breakfast diner in the heart of Cabbagetown.
Always great and friendly service. Their pancakes keep me coming back!
Had a hearty lamb steak biryani! Taste amazing with large portion as well.
It becomes my go-to place after 3 days
Delicious food, very nice servers and overall great experience. I had butter chicken and chili naan, recommended. Food : 5/5
Food is really tasty. Service is top notch. Ambience is quite good. The service is quite fast and servers are the best.
Hakka dishes are good...lots of cardamom, delicious. Presentation is thoughtful and inviting. Service was attentive, responsive, informative. Great experience.
The food was amazing. And the server, Saya was such a sweetheart. Saya was so sweet while serving us and he had a great customer service.
First time here and the staff was awesome! Everyone was super kind and the atmosphere was great! Has a great old diner vibe and amazing prices for the size of the food would definitely reccomend coming to this place if your in the area!
Have always loved this place for a long time and its still amazing! The service is great, the staff very attentive and they went above and beyond by giving us a little extra surprise side dish with our meals)!

Super friendly and welcoming wait staff. Food was not great. Prices are comparable to house on parliament which is considerably better than Johnny Gs. The ham and sausage that came with my breakfast were actually gross and hash browns were soggy. Very clean bathrooms and a nice little fruit cup came with the meal. Unfortunately they made 3 mistakes with our small order. Wrong type of toast, eggs were runny when I specifically asked for over extra hard with no runniness and wrong type of cheese with the eggs Benny. 2 of these things had to be sent back, which they fixed, no questions asked. Overall well probably not come back for breakfast. Maybe well try their lunch or dinner another time though.
They serve some splendid breakfast and really good service. The server is very attentive and observing at all times. Also they give small bowls of fruits which is really nice and don t charge for it :)
Food was fantastic.. went out for dinner with the family the waiting staff was amazing and the food was fantastic!! I d say the top things for me was the fresh baked Butter smothered Naan (perfection chefs kiss ) with Dal makhni .. and other performers were the chili chicken and chowmein and for starters chicken 65 ..
Dinner food and service were incredible! Ill be returning soon!
So.....i have had a diner of choice for a few years. Today i decided to go out on a limb and try another. Mic Drop! Everything, from the bread, the sauce, the meats, was so much better HERE! Give them a shot! Awesome Eggs Benny and BLT! Sausage was perfect too! Thank you!
This place looks like a great breakfast place but we stumbled here looking for dinner some good Hakka food. The food was soo good (especially the chicken fried rice), presentation is amazing and the server had outstanding service. I can t wait to come back to try the breakfast :)
Nice breakfast place that now does a very decent Indian / Hakka menu in the evening. Well made, reasonably priced Indian classics with a few Hakka variants in the mix. The service is friendly and the ambience is pleasant - real tea lights (not LEDs) is a good touch. Definitely worth an evening trip there regardless of whether you ve had their daytime menu or not.
The staff were very friendly and attentive. food was fresh and very well made. reasonable prices and dish sizes. will be coming back here again
The food and the service is good.
