Love this place! The aesthetic, food, service - probably the best I’ve experienced in a while in Toronto! Tried the famous 100 layer lasagna, it was good but a touch too salty for my liking and a little cold. You can tell the restaurant uses high quality ingredients across all dishes I tried! Another major highlight were the potatoes! Ughhh soooo flavourful and crispy

Great service, however the food I personally found it to be on the saltier side. I was so excited to try the lasagna which looked delicious but under all the parm it felt a bit dry. the cocktails were super good!

Came here on a Friday night with some friends to catch up on a Friday night. We had a reservation for 9:45 but got there much earlier and the staff still sat us right away. Our server got us water right away and was always coming in to check on us to see if we needed anything else. The espresso martini I got was really delicious and the food was immaculate. If you want to have a really nice night out with an amazing dinner experience I couldn’t recommend this place enough!

5. Dined in for dinner twice recently and really enjoyed both of my experiences. The space is fun and vibrant and a good place to take parents because it’s not too dark. Menu changes but they also have some staples. Very accommodating of allergies and were very careful with both dairy and soy. Modified dishes and I wouldn’t have even missed the cheese they were done so well! Service was strong even when busy, mains took a long time both times I was there- server was apologetic. One of the times they comped one of the mains which was kind of them. I preferred the fish from October to the fish in November but other than that things were consistently great.

In town for work, I searched for places open on Monday nights for dinner and La Palma came up in a list on Taste Toronto. I came with three colleagues. Unfortunately, the bartender started us off with some attitude when I asked what was the difference between the two drink menus (one is bottles, other one has glasses, but she mentioned that we could order glasses from the main menu). Thankfully, our server Abraham (name on our bill) saved the evening. We couldn't decide from the many items on the menu, and he suggested the Chef's menu, which, at $75/person for four courses, with at least two different dishes per course, ended up being more than we could have imagined. What a great deal! We were so stuffed at the end of the evening, and enjoyed all of the dishes, especially the 100-layer lasagna and albacore tuna crudo. One star removed due to the attitude we were greeted with, but extra kudos to Abraham for his attentive, friendly, and efficient service.

It was me and my husband first time there for our anniversary and I was referred to la Palma by my clients. Our experience was overwhelmed, the food was excellent!!! Especially I went there for the main course was the 100 layers lasagna and everything else was excellent. We will try to come every week to taste everything that they have there.

Absolutely loved the aesthetics of this place and the prompt service! However, the 100-layered lasagna was a bit lackluster, and the miso cauliflower lacked flavor and didn’t really taste like miso. The pizza was just average. On the bright side, the cocktail was good, and I highly recommend the chicken liver mousse instead!

Such a great brunch spot especially in summer with the windows open. We arrived early and were able to be seated right away. I had one of the best burratas ever with artichoke. Lasagna is delicious. Desert took a while and the staff offered to take it off the bill. Great service despite the wait. Open kitchen and strong menu. I would return. Great for larger group brunch too.

La Palma is a great restaurant for a date night. It s got 2 stories, has a cool dark vibe and I really enjoyed their appetizers and drinks. I was a big fan of the brussel sprouts, and tuna crudo. Unfortunately didn t love my main which was the tagliatelle, as it wasn t very flavourful. But otherwise enjoyed the other dishes, they are not too big and good to share with another person.

We recently dined at la palma, and while the food and ambiance were fantastic, there was a bit of an unexpected vibe toward closing time. About an hour before closing, it felt like the staff was subtly encouraging guests to wrap up. They began closing the patio doors and cleaning up that area, which wouldn t have been an issue on its own. But then one of the servers positioned himself so he could see all the tables and seemed to nod toward the other staff, almost signaling they were waiting for us to leave. This added a slightly rushed feeling to an otherwise enjoyable evening. Overall, the food and setting were wonderful, but the end-of-night experience could have been handled a bit better. I d still recommend la palma for the food and vibe, just maybe not close to closing time.

Great place for a night out with friends, the atmosphere is great and the servers are very friendly! I have it a three star because, In my opinion, food is not that good, and in the end, it is a restaurant. The lasagna is popular but it has little to no ragú so you re just getting stuffed with pasta, taste-wise is ok, I wouldn t order it again. The dessert was great, we got the banana pancake. I would go again though, just to give it another try.

Great cocktails and standard wine selection. The ambience, aesthetic and service was honestly the best part of it all! It s definitely smaller plates so keep it in mind while ordering! Oh, La Palma, where do I even start? We decided to check this place out last night, and wow... what an adventure. They sat us right next to the open kitchen, which was basically a front-row seat to a concert I didn t buy tickets for. If you enjoy shouting at your dinner companions just to be heard, this is your spot! Our waitress was super friendly, so theres that. I ordered the Whipped Ricotta Toast for $18 (because clearly, I love spending money), and for my main, I went with the special scallops for a casual $32. So far, so good, right? Except, they completely forgot my appetizer. Classic. I had to give our waitress the ol Hey, remember me? reminder. By the time my toast finally showed up, everyone else had already finished their starters. Nothing like enjoying an appetizer solo while everyone watches you chew. Then, the entrée arrived. And I need you to picture this: three massive clam shells perched on a bed of decorative rocks. Inside each shell? ONE scallop. Yes, one. Covered in a layer of cheese with a bunch of under cooked onions tossed in for good measure. Thirty-two bucks for this masterpiece. I don t know what I was expecting, but it definitely wasn t a sad seafood art project. Look, if you re into overpriced food that looks like it belongs in a modern art museum and tastes like... well, lets just say...your behind, then La Palma is your dream come true. As for me? I ll just take my $32 and buy a weeks worth of instant noodles, thanks. Never again.

Cool ambience. Staff could be more attentive but they are friendly. Food just isn t great. 100 layer lasagna tasted like lasagna with too much cheese. The fire chicken was nice but was just a plate of chicken for $35 and It literally had two mini drum sticks and half a leg. Needed some sort of accompaniment or even just a garnish. And the fried potato s were good too if we were eating them for breakfast with some eggs of something. Unfortunately this place just missed. We won t be back.

September 22, 2024

Terrible service and strongly don t recommend. From restaurants slow service to them trying to overcharging their own customers and getting mad when you call them out on their scam.

September 22, 2024

Horrible Restaurant, horrible food, and horrible management. First thing, I get overcharged and I have to wait almost 3 weeks and have to continuously reach out and ask when I would get my refund for something I never even ordered and I get ignored? Wow. Begging to get my own money back that I was overcharged scammers. CHECK YOUR RECEIPTS PEOPLE! Your $200-$300+ bill will have items you never even ordered or heard of. I went there, I started ordering what I wanted, named 3 things and the waiter grabs our menu and walks off without me finishing the order. I had to call him back to finish the rest of my order, no apology nothing. Just a straight face and takes the rest of the order . Underpaid? Depressed? On top of that, he brings out 1 pasta when there are 2 of us and we ordered two, and then has us waiting for the second one. Maybe they should have someone who actually listens to the order rather than focusing on grabbing the menus and walking off while people order. I informed them way beforehand that I was coming and celebrating a birthday, after we order our food I d like them to bring out a piece of cake they have on the menu which they said they would put a candle and bring out. It took me 4+ attempts and had to constantly keep asking to bring out the cake after we ate. Wasn t much of a surprise because it came to the point I had to flat out ask while I was sitting at the table. Worst part is this place is a vendor for American Express. I m in contact with American Express management and informing them about this place and how they treat their customers who pay them big money for their horrible food and service. Under any 1 Star review, Josh responds and asks to contact him but what s the point? I emailed him my concern and they literally ignore you. They do not care. They steal your money, make you wait and make no accommodations. Not a single apology in the whole situation. July 30th I emailed him a long message of how the experience was and I was ignored. Why bother even replying to your 1 star reviews if you won t even respond to the customers once they email you? Save your money and avoid this place. 0/5 stars if I could. If you re going because of American Express, take my word there are a lot of better options there.

La Palma is a staple in the Toronto food scene. The dynamic duo of Craig Harding and Julien D Ippolito hit another one out of the park when they opened La Palma. This Dundas West institution is a not to be missed. One of the best vibes and atmospheres in the city which is only matched by the incredible service and mouthwatering dishes. Seasonal specials rotate, but you ll always have the life-long favourites- think 100 layer lasagna and the crispy roasted potatoes (the pickles in this dish really are a treat). YUMMM! I go often but recently went with my friend to sit at the bar and enjoy some snacks. With the windows open and Avril taking care of us- it was a 10/10 experience.

Came for an 8pm reso on a Thursday, and it took about 15 minutes to be greeted once we sat. Our server was very visibly busy, but the manager who eventually came over was very nice so I won t fault the service there. We ordered the burrata, side bread, pamadoro pizza, papparedelle pasta, a beer, and a Paloma. The drinks didn t arrive until well after we had finished our entire first course, but the manager did apologize for the wait. The relish on the burrata was great, but for $28 plus $5 for bread it was underwhelming. Pizza was also good but nothing special, but the papparedelle was the most disappointing dish of all. The chicken in it somehow tasted like it came out of a can? Hard to even explain but it was just not good. We still ate everything, but were unimpressed all around. Our server continued running around all night, yet never checked on us once, although he was checking on the tables around us. During our meal, both the tables beside us also sent back their salads, so not much hope in the rest of the menu. For $125 it was incredibly overpriced for a very average meal. Beautiful restaurant but wouldn t return unfortunately.

Great space, but the team should be embarrassed with the service. Our server (guy with the moustache) such of a bad attitude, dropped off our food and ran away. Next time I saw him was as soon as I finished my food. Ready to give us the bill - and kick us out. I tipped him 15% but I really should have made it 0%. 100 layer pasta is not 100 layers (not sure if this is an accurate marketing claim). Nevertheless it was very delicious but cold, sauce bone cold. But of course since our waiter was nowhere to be seen, I could not ask him to get it warmed up. Would not recommend La Palma. There are better places to eat in the city. Also slightly lower priced. + it s not difficult to beat the level of service I received tonight.

I was really excited to try La Palma since I love lasagna and have heard good things about their 100 layer lasagna signature dish however, my experience was far below expectations. The lasagna itself came out really flat and watery with the cheese on top melted so much it seemed like it sat under a heat lamp for 20 minutes. It also didnt taste good - it was worse than a grocery store frozen lasagna. Ive seen better photos of this lasagna so not sure what happened to mine. The broccolini was also not good. Theres a difference between charred and burnt and this was definitely burnt. The other reviews had photos of much less burnt broccolini so again, not sure what happened to mine. We also got the pappardelle and it was unremarkable. The pasta was really watery so the sauce didnt even stick and kind of just sat at the bottom. The crispy potatoes were better than the other dishes but still below average for a dish overall. They werent that crispy but they were hard! Also the pickles in it were really strange (and Im usually a big fan of pickles) but they just didnt belong. The only thing that was actually good was the chicken liver mousse. Great presentation and a good balance of flavours! This is the only thing I would order again but its not worth having to come back here. The side bread was the same toast that they used for the chicken liver. I personally dont want toast when I order bread at a restaurant but it was fine.

I chose this restaurant randomly for a brunch. It s a beautiful restaurant. The server was friendly. I had an eggs Benedict with the carrot juice. I personally love croissant based instead of English muffin so it was perfect for me! The eggs Benedict was tasty. I chose mushrooms, and tomato jam inside. Good amount of sauce. I ordered french fries for a side menu. The french fries has seasoning on it nicely but also there is lots of mustard sauce on the bottom. It was too much for me. Just any side dishes aren t including which makes me a little bit disappointed. I also feel that its a little pricy for a brunch for me but I would love to recommend someone who wants to spend fancy time for a brunch! Nice wine lists too! I want to try a wine with other brunch dish next time.

Frozen flatbread you could get at the grocery store So called 100 layer lasagna? about 3 layers of nothingness. You can count them. Oh and it was all cold by the time it got to us upstairs. If you want Italian, go literally anywhere else.

Very good intimate ambiance. Your paying for the atmosphere of the place than really the food. They had some candle light and mood lighting on each table. But the food itself is mediocre. Ordered the Casio pizza which is super cheese and hence a bit on the salty side. The flavours don t really complement each other too much. Not sure if it was supposed to be Italian but seems to try to emulate it. But they didn t offer regular Italian pizza. Maybe I didn t order the best item on the list but it was not that greatest. The portion sizes are small for the price.

The dining room is pretty spacious and its nice to see the bar and the kitchen from most of the seating area. The hostess greeted us when we came in and we were able to get our table right away for our reservation. The music, along with the plants and decor made the place feel homey to me. The only downside Id say is that the windows have no shades and if youre facing the windows, the sun is right in your eyes for as long as its sunny out. Had the chicken liver mousse as an appetizer. This was an excellent dish. The bread had a bit of toastiness to it but was still fairly soft to bite into and was a nice carrier for the liver mousse itself which was a nice creamy texture. The glaze brought a lot of depth to the flavour overall. Had their lasagna for my main, which was also a really good dish. Im not typically a fan of lasagna, but I liked this regardless. The portion of lasagna seemed to be pan fried to order which gave it a nice crust and i liked the burnt bits which gave it a nice bitterness too. The sauce had a good depth of flavour to it. Its also quite filling. It was a bit disappointing for dessert but they didnt have their sticky toffee pudding that was one of three of their desserts available on the menu. The reason the server gave was that the kitchen couldnt make the caramel that night. I tried the polenta cake, which was fine. It came with pomegranate seeds, a bit of mascarpone cheese (which was great), and some apples and what I think were blood oranges. The orange slices were super tart, and not sure they really complimented the dish well. I found them quite overpowering. Tried a few of their drinks as well. The Rome is Burning was a refreshing drink - coming from someone whos a big fan of cassis. The Night Vision cocktail was a bit misleading if you read the ingredients, because it just tasted like too much of the carrot. I was hoping for more of the cinnamon bourbon/ spiced rum/ raisin syrup combo to come out and the carrot to be more of an accent. Also had the Italian 75 which was okay. The pepper gave it a bit of a kick, but otherwise it was a pretty standard drink for me and wasnt too memorable. Service was attentive throughout the evening, and at least 3 people came by to keep our table clear when needed, take our order, etc. Overall, this restaurant felt welcoming and I had a good experience. Id come back and recommend this place for people to try.

Beef carpaccio was full of flavour and well presented. Lamb chops were fantastic, tender, juicy, and well seasoned. The rapini was nice. The pear pizza was a little sour for my tastes but my sister enjoyed it. The 100 layer lasagna had just the right amount of cheese and meat. The sticky toffee pudding and chocolate torte were good. My cousin from Italy was a little surprised that they didnt have tiramisu or limoncello on the menu. Italian 75 was smooth with the thyme. The Night Vision was disappointing though, just sour carrot flavour.

This is a 4.5 star place that is great value! Ask for the chef selection menu, which is 5 or 6 courses, including desert that allows you to try a little bit of everything on the menu including the lasagna. In fact, they asked what we wanted to try and adjusted to that. All was good, but there was too much of the salad and couldnt finish. We were stuffed by the end of it. The service was some of the best for a restaurant. Would go back again.

Delicious food at La Palma. We came for the 100 layer lasagna but the star of the show was definitely the chicken liver mousse. It was so smooth and creamy, it almost resembled foie gras. Normally liver has a very strong mineral taste, but the way they prepared it got rid of any unpleasant taste. Highly recommend it The cheese they used for both the lasagna and pizza was also splendid. Wasn t overly rich but very good texture, because it was shaved and only slightly melted.

Went for a nice romantic dinner this evening. The pictures look amazing and that s where it ends. Service was extremely slow. We were seated and customers that came after us were helped and given food. Staff looked clueless and inexperienced unfortunately. After getting attention of one of the staff I was assisted. We ordered the pomodoro pizza which is a flatbread pizza. The sauce was really good. The fritto misto appetizer was good until you realize there s only 5 shrimp in the entire serving. The lamb chops were very flavorless and uninspiring. The order comes with 3 lamb chops. Lastly the rigatoni alla Norma was the only decent dish and the pasta was cooked Al dente and the sauce was great. The portions are small and prices are high. The $5 dollar bread was a decent value. I don t think I will ever visit this place. Shocked at how incompetent the staff was.

Had a wonderful birthday dinner dinner with my girlfriend at this amazing place. The good was very well presented. The pictures can back me up. This wasnt some silly family restaurant where youre gonna eat bubble gum mozzarella cheese pizza and have a heart attack at the front when you leave. This is a open concept and really well designed setting with a great chef who has prepped a seriously well represented menu that pays omage to the classics with seasonal traditional flavours mixed with some savory essence. I was excited eating the carrots. Theyre the multicolored ones, and specially made in a way that is so satisfying. I did not leave a crumb on a drop on any of these six plates! If you get in there make sure you try some of the items from the grill. I did not have the chance. We ordered 5 places and shared it all. You will leave their full but youre not going to be feeling badly the way it feels when you go some some places. I felt pleasantly full and would return to eat here any time.

I typically find that the majority of places that have great food (at a reasonable price) leave you feeling kind of bloated and gross but I can confirm that this is not an issue at all whatsoever at La Palma! Our only regret was sitting near the open windows as the breeze was a bit cool and definitely contributed to the food getting cold within minutes of us receiving it. Aside from that there was a little misunderstanding with the bill as we were charged for bottled water and were not aware that it was an additional charge (tap water is available for free) but our waiter Ellen K, fixed that for us and took it off the bill! Dough was nicely prepared as well 8/10 Rigatoni - this was the star of the show, spicy and deep deep flavours. Pasta cooked al dente as it should be for this dish. Crispy eggplant was phenomenal. Thoroughly enjoyed this dish 9/10 Gnocchi - at first bite tasted bland, but blends well when having all the pieces in one bite. Light and not heavy at all. Very authentic. 7.5/10 Branzino - this was a very functional dish. Lentils, fish and cilantro. The fish was cooked perfectly and tasted fresh - could not tell that it had been frozen. Overrall the dish was very military in a sense, not much going on but was filling and healthy. 7/10

First time dining here with family for an anniversary on a Saturday. The place was easy to find, however, brace yourself to find parking! It took us 30 mins... The food was very delicious, but it lacks portion sizes at a steep price. We loved their roasted potatoes, pizza, lamb chops, and chicken, but both their pasta (gnocchi & rigatoni) missed the mark. The gnocchi was alright, and rigatoni barely had any eggplants...I could barely see or taste it. The drinks were great but very pricey! The service was spectacular and very fast. There was considerable amount of details when our food arrived, such as, type of cutlery for each person, removing old plates & bringing in new cutlery etc. The ambiance was cozy & romantic with a candle light on the table and music playing but not too loud. Vegetarian options: Pizza Pasta Parking: Itll be very hard to find any parking on weekends. Street parking is usually full. You may have to park on college Street and walk about 1 km to the restaurant. Green P parking lot is close by but usually full.

Great atmosphere with a wonderful interior design. The food was great and the kitchen can be seen from the dining area. It was nice to see how the chefs prepare the food and the servers were very informative. Would recommend for an aesthetic night out with good food to match.

We got lamb chops, roast chicken, & branzino. The lamb and chicken were ok, the branzino was good. Side of crispy potatoes was delicious. We did enjoy the polenta dessert at the end. Service could be a bit more warm and welcoming. Ambience speaks for itself. Parking: Green P Parking lot close by
