Toronto's newest destination for unruffled Southern French fare. Located at The Well, enjoy timeless French classics, rotisserie-style cooking, handcrafted cocktails and a hidden speakeasy.
I rarely give a stellar five star review, but I was so impressed by this place! I’ve been several times now, and the staff and service have been so attentive and hospitable and the food is incredible! Must try dishes include the several varieties of tartare, as well as the steak frites and steak aux poivres. They make an incredible and authentic French omelette as well! The cocktails are delicious and they have a wonderful wine menu.
La Plume is a fantastic French bistro where we had an amazing time. The atmosphere is charming, and the service was exceptional—our server was incredibly friendly and walked us through the entire menu. One of the highlights was being able to order a customized drink. The food quality was outstanding, and the drinks were just as impressive. It’s the perfect spot for a relaxed and enjoyable dining experience. Highly recommend!
First time at La Plume tonight and I can definitely say that I would certainly make the trip back. The service from our server and the rest of the staff was great, everyone was super accommodating and friendly. We had the prix fixe menu and every course was delicious, of good value, and came out in a timely manner. Would highly recommend the beef tartare. Thanks for a great dinner!
Obsessed! Reservations always a plus. Atmosphere absolute perfection. Food was 10/10! We ordered the following Starters - Burrata, Salmon, and Bruschetta Mains - Mushrooms on Toast, Eggs Benedict, Chicken Pot Pie, and mushroom burger All delicious and cappuccino was also a must order! Service was great as well.
"The ambiance at this French restaurant is lovely and very relaxing. Unfortunately, the main dish ( Rotisserie Chicken pot pie )wasn't to my taste. However, the side of fries with a tasty dipping sauce was a hit. The chocolate mousse for dessert was a delightful end to the meal and highly recommended."
I’ve been to this place twice now, and I can’t say enough good things! The food is amazing—every dish is packed with flavor. The decor is really nice too. The staff are super friendly and make you feel welcome right away. I’m definitely coming back for more!
We visited on a warm Sunday and had a wonderful experience. ♥️✨The environment was pleasant, and the food was delicious and fresh. We didn't get a chance to try more dishes:) we were too full that day! 🤣The most important thing for us was that it’s pet-friendly—our lovely little friends 🐶🐶had a great time, even though they had to wait for us. They seemed to enjoy themselves in the cozy atmosphere. The service staff were exceptionally nice from the moment we stepped through the door. I definitely recommend this place!♥️Thank you ✨
In a nutshell, while the service and atmosphere were 10/10, the food did not live up to you expectation. Details below: The atmosphere was great and the service was even better. We were celebrating my husband's birthday and I had stated that in our reservation. So they welcomed us with champa which was very thoughtful. We ordered the burata which was the best part of our meal. We also ordered the truffle omellette but I wouldn't say there was much truffle on it nor did it taste much like truffle. The omellette itself was very well-done though, but like I mentioned, wouldn't really call it truffle omellette. I ordered pasta which was great and my husband ordered the 10oz steak which arrived cold!! He originally ordered it with the bernaise sauce which he had also quite disappointed in. When we let the staff know his steak was cold they quickly took it away and made him a new steak, and he asked to have the sauce changed to shallot jus which they did. The second round was much better! They also brought a salad on the house while he waited for his food to be made again, which we appreciated. We ordered their hazelnut cream dessert which was also a little underwhelming, but it was very presentable and they even had a candle on it and had written happy birthday, which we appreciated. Something minor but noteworthy, not all of the chairs had cushions. It seems silly to bring this up but ours happened to the the non-cushioned ones and by the time we were ready for our bill, we were noticeably uncomfortable and kept shifting in our seats. All in all, it was a fine experience. The service really was fantastic which made up for the not-so-fantastic food.
We attended an event. The room was magical and the food was tasty.
Excellent experience! The decor and ambiance are very charming, yet the staff is extremely welcoming and not arrogant as can be the case in fancier restaurants. We dined with our 2 children (5 and 1 year old) and felt very welcome (which is rare in Toronto as soon as you go to little classier places). Restaurant has proper high chair and changing table in the toilettes. Food was great. I ordered the French burger with a glass of Bordeaux Merlot and it was delicious. Thanks! (Ha! And the kids menu is a GOOD piece of chicken, compared to the yucky fried chicken you get in any other kids menu!!!)
This place is really nice.
Very good French ambiance. Very well organized for a group of 6 people. Nice service. Great experience overall
An absolute disappointment. Save your money and avoid this place for brunch. Food appears and tastes mediocre. We ordered almond Crossaints which had stale almonds used. When we told our server she simply say ok and took them away, no apology nothing. Food presentation does not match its price. The pot pie was just ok, grocery stores offer better flavour. Salad lacked lustre. The waffles were the saving grace, however the presentation was not as appealing. Very dissatisfied and disappointed, it did not live up to what is presented on their socials.
My fiance and I came here for our anniversary and we were treated with so much kindness. the food was excellent (the best tartare weve had!) and the restaurant itself was beautiful. we will definitely be back again.
Great restaurant and spaces, did you know they have a Speakeasy!
I went to La Plume on the 30th of November with my partner and friends. Food and cocktails were awesome. Staff was friendly and helpful. We tried the Prix Fixe menu, there are 2 options one with the dessert one just has appetizer and main course ($55 without). We paid $516.36(~130/person) for four Prix Fixe menu, four cocktails and four 8oz wine. PS. There is a very cute speakeasy called Bonne Nuit on the 2nd floor. Nice staff and great cocktails - a must try Parking: Street Parking, GreenP, free after 9pm.
Came here for my birthday and definitely did not feel served. It had a very fast food type of speed and as a result the experience and quality really suffered. Yes I could have said something but I tend to like to go to nicer places so that I don t have to say anything. Part of the restaurant experience is that I m paying for someone to take care of me. Also it was my birthday so I wasn t going to be rude and complain about this in front of my partner who planned it for me. The food was overall passable and I d come again out of convenience only to avoid starvation. Details: - My kid has an egg allergy and when I told the server, he reviewed the kids menu and said everything was egg free. I questioned him as I know the cheeseburger likely uses a brioche bread or egg has a binder and that pasta can have egg in it. He checked with the kitchen and I was correct. Server should not be speaking based on no knowledge - just irresponsible. - my pint of beer was served on a faulty glass that did not stand up well on its own and kept tilting to one side. - bathroom had no paper towels despite restaurant being pretty empty on a Tuesday - the sides we ordered with the mains came out with the appetizers. Had to order another side and ask for it come out with the mains. Our first side became dry and cold. - octopus was drenched in a oil based dressing. I would have called it a salad or some sort. It was very salty and pieces could have been charred prior to being drenched in a dressing to get a little more texture - fingerling potatoes were very soft - baby led weaning level of softness - steak was done proper but it didn t taste like a quality cut - bland or maybe it was bland from my over salted octopus - fries were good - whipped potatoes were dry and hard on top as if it had been sitting premade like at a fast food restaurant. It was topped with crispy potato sticks but it tasted like old oil and was very oily
One of the best restaurants in Toronto. Great food. The onion soup was good, not too hot. The onion burger was INSANE and refined. The fries are super thin and tasty. The creme brûlée was good too though I would suspect they use a premix and not make their own curd. The service was great. They have a free coat check and the tall guy at the entrance was very gentle. Ill go again.
Nice atmosphere and friendly staff, but the food was really mediocre. I couldn t even finish my meal. The cocktail was decent, but overall, not worth a repeat visit.
We celebrated our anniversary and went for dinner at La Plume. It was a really great experience, great food and customer service. We enjoyed it, and would highly recommend La Plume.
Our second visit to La Plume and we werent disappointed. We began the evening thinking we would celebrate our anniversary in another restaurant in The Well. After a disastrous cocktail and appetizer we decided to leave and go to La Plume. We sat at the bar and were served by Hal who was absolutely outstanding. Gracious, professional, filled with suggestions and recommendations and offered two complimentary glasses of champagne when she learned it was our anniversary. We will certainly go back and would highly recommend La Plume for any occasion.
Arrived and took a while to even get noticed / sat down. When we ordered a bottle of wine, it didn t turn up and after asking the server 20 minutes later if it was coming she responded that her manager got busy and would go get it now . 10 minutes later, our mains (which were decent enough) came (still without any drinks) so we had to cancel the bottle and left very disappointed without attempting to order anything else.
I dont want to be too harsh with the ratings because our server was lovely and its a cool enough vibe but their half price oysters are a joke. Sure they are half price but they just charge double the regular price of oysters and then you pay the normal price during half price time. You can go to island oysters and get the same dozen oysters for $33 that are $56 here. I think the happy hour prices are what regular prices should be and the regular prices are just what suckers with company credit cards will pay for pretty average food.
I like it
Went there for the French Onion soup on a weekday. Not crowded. Greeted by the Manager as I walked in. Could pick any of the tables. Tia waited on me. French Onion Soup arrived within a reasonable amount of time. The best Onion Soup outside Quebec. Topped with lots of grilled cheese pn bread! Yummy! Tia made sure I did not want anything else. Very pleasant and efficient. Will be visiting for dinner, soon! Update: Cancelled a reservation to another restaurant with friends. Wife has allergies, so want to ensure she would be able to dine in. 5 attempts to reach them failed! No replies to msg left. Impossible to reach them. Guess we wont be going there for dinner! Sorry Tia, we will not be coning for dinner! Changed 5star to 2 star for service. Was 5 star before update.
Very nice place. Well decorated and pleasant. The menu is diverse and different from what we usually see. I had the Lablabi and I was happily surprised by the taste . The service is excellent despite some confusion at the arrival . I recommend this place
Super average for what I paid 80$
We ve been to this restaurant a few times because it s so close to our home and we really enjoy the food. I am a sucker for French onion soup and this one is very very good.
Very beautiful space and great ambiance. The food is great also
Lovely restaurant with great selection of dishes. I went in for an impromptu brunch with a friend and we had a great time. Food was delicious, our server was great. Definitely worth a next visit.
Have been La Plume many times. French food is so good.
Came here with a friend . Everything we had was delicious . I had a couple of cocktails. The pink slip and a sangria . They were both very good We had the beef tartare . The potatoes . And the branzino - everything was delicious . We had the creme brulee for desert - Im not a big desert person but it was pretty good. Would definitely come back
One of the best French onion soups I ve had in the city! A must try!
The food was absolutely incredible! Had the rotisserie chicken salad & truffle fries. I have gluten and shellfish allergies & they were very informative of allergies and the food was delicious. Dietary restrictions: Gluten and shellfish
Came by yesterday for happy hour to celebrate a new promotion at work, bartender working was such a beauty. Made us some of his favorite cocktails and then gave us a tour of the speak easy. Will come back soon for dinner as the oysters and drinks were amazing! Highly recommend this place.
Small bland portions with expensive price tag. Nothing special about this place but the location. Service was nice though
Always a wonderful time. Happy hour oysters are great!
La Plume, located at The Well, offers a delightful taste of Southern French-inspired cuisine in an elegantly decorated setting that transports you straight to France. I thoroughly enjoyed all the dishes we ordered for Saturday brunch, and highly recommend this restaurant, especially for fans of French cuisine. The Bar menu is quite extensive, and the cocktails I ordered were delicious, though the Quest-ce que cest was a tad bit strong. Brunch is offered every Saturday and Sunday from 11 AM to 2:30 PM, and Happy Hour with 50% off beverages, and oysters from 2 PM to 5 PM. Generally, they offer Happy Hour drinks prices Monday from 4 5pm & Tuesday to Sunday from 2 5pm. The staff here were friendly, adding to the welcoming atmosphere. They also have a patio for those who prefers to dine outdoors. La Plume is a great spot to enjoy the beautiful French ambiance, while savouring delicious dishes. Vegetarian options: Brunch has a few vegetarian options such as omelette, waffle, quiche, and bruschetta Wheelchair accessibility: The restaurant is on street level
Delicious food! Great service and the place is beautiful. Definitely would come back here again
Disappointing. Service is slow. Waited for 10 minutes for my first drink, 8 for the second. The food was lacking seasoning. The bar is not tidied up. Clothes, buckets and other stuff that does not look good.
The service was sub par and the food was overpriced (especially given there was a huge hair on my food when served). Only positive comment is that the atmosphere is cute, with the French themed decor. My friend ordered a non-alcoholic Caesar and it didnt show up until after our food arrived. When our food arrived my dish had a big, black hair on my the side. I told them right away and they apologized and brought me a new plate, but obviously it was less than ideal because a) all I could think about was the uncleanliness of that situation and b) i had to wait longer for my food so my friend started/ended before me. I understand these mistakes can happen anywhere, but for the price point of this restaurant I somewhat expected to be compensated for that terrible experience, but I wasnt. I would say, even without that incident my dish (smoked salmon meal) would be subpar. It was served on a chickpea patty which sounded interesting, but it was dry and flavourless. On top of that, our server kept switching, this wouldnt be a big deal on its own, but on top of everything else it made the experience inconsistent. Overall, poor experience.
I ordered a lamb dish that looked amazing, but it ended up being one of the toughest I ve ever had. The meat was so tough I couldn t even cut or swallow it! For $64, with no appetizer or drink included and such small portions, I expected much better. At this price, there are plenty of other places where I could enjoy a meal with higher quality food. Although I liked the ambiance, I won t be coming back.
This was the worst birthday dinner experience I ever had. I had my birthday at la plume last night with a large table and was very disappointed. 1st, the service was very slow, drinks weren t ordered for 20 minutes even after all guests arrived. 2nd, the steaks were cooked all differently when me and my friends ordered medium rare (it ranged from well to rare) and tried to gaslight us it was all medium rare when sending it back. 3rd, to top it off, they ruined my birthday cake - my cake design was specifically all white and simple on purpose and they took the liberty to add florals which I NEVER requested. I tried to salvage the cake by taking off the flowers but they SCRAPED the design off to add those florals!!! needless to say, I m so glad I never booked a private room and wasted my money. But I would never come back.
Super nice dining experience, pretty interior design, great food and good cocktails
Had family dinner for my in-law 80th. Nicely decorated. Nice staff. Food is a big disappointment. Price is outragely high. Every single dish took 45 minutes to an hour. Including ice cream for the kids. Since everything took so long and we have an infant with us, I ve asked the waitress 3x for my in-law birthday dessert so we can participate singing happy birthday to him. After 1 hour of waiting around with a sleepy baby, we had to leave and COULD NOT share the birthday cake. Huge mistake to spent money and time at La Plume. No longer a fan of O&B Absolutely a no no for family or people who loves good food.
Food was so delicious, drinks were great too. Service is awful though, 3 different servers, no one knew what was going on. I had to read the (third) server the menu item ingredients because she just seemed to blank on them all lol. Honestly we weren t in a rush so it was fine but we would have bought 1-2 more bottles of wine but the service was so slow, we just billed out. Tons of staff working, too - sat with empty glasses for easily 15+ minutes before I asked for the bill.
Our dining experience at La Plume was fantastic! The food was exceptional, and our table especially enjoyed the desserts they were absolutely delicious and a perfect way to end the meal. Our server, Yevheniia, was incredibly kind and provided outstanding service. She took the time to explain the dishes in detail and made thoughtful recommendations, ensuring we made the best choices for our meal. We left thoroughly impressed and cant wait to return to La Plume for another wonderful evening!
The food and service are amazing and the interior is gorgeous. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Will definitely come back and try more from the menu and will check out the speakeasy next time.
Very disappointed for the price, slow service and we were one of the few tables there and food took over an hour.
Great cocktails, experienced and knowledgeable servers (that seem to all be french???). Everything I got was excellent, the crème brûlée is the best I ve ever had. Go to Bonne Nuit upstairs after dinner, Karl and the team will take great care of you. Excellent for a date night or group dinner, I did both and both were excellent
My boyfriend and I celebrated our 2-year anniversary with a reservation, arriving 10 minutes prior. Following a brief ordering delay, we chose French onion soup, grilled octopus, and lobster rigatoni allamatricana. The soup arrived at 8:06, but silverware was not provided after 8 minutes. Our entrees were delayed by almost 2 hours, mind you the restaurant was not that busy either, and we had to request an update from a staff member. The staff neglected to check in on us or refill our beverages. After reporting this, our food arrived 8 minutes later, but its quality did not justify the price, and it seemed to have been left under a hot light for an hour. A manager eventually approached us to discuss our experience, listened attentively, and offered to cover our meals and provide a complimentary dessert. Nevertheless, we will not return to the restaurant due to the poor service. The money wasn t the problem it was the negligence of the service. We came to celebrate our anniversary but got disappointed with how we were treated.
I ll keep this short and sweet - this place is a rip off. If you come here expect overpriced, poorly prepared, low quality and bland food with very delayed poor service.
My boyfriend and I went out for a date a couple weeks back. We had reserved prior to coming. We entered the restaurant and we were not greeted by any staff and there was no one in the area where you would check in. That seemed weird to us because the restaurant did not seem super busy and there was no sign up to notify customers that staff would be back. We stood confused for 3-4 minutes trying to make eye contact with staff. Eventually two separate small groups lined up behind us at which point the greeter had finally returned to the front. We had asked to be seated on the ground floor but when we got to the seats, it was right beside the elevator where there would be likely heavier foot traffic so we asked to move before sitting. They were accommodating and moved us to the second floor. The decor and wallpaper on the walls, floors and ceilings were aesthetically pleasing. We were seated and I noticed our table did not have any candle whereas all other tables with customers did. It seemed like a lack of attention to detail. It felt weird to us because to us this was a nicer restaurant and the experience is a big part of it. I was not a fan of the tables either because of water stains on them. Our server was professional. Service was super slow, again, to us, it did not seem that busy as we saw how many people were in the first and second floor. It took 15 minutes at least for our drinks to come at the start. Drinks were good. Food also took awhile and was very médiocre for the price. We ordered the lobster pasta and steak - my boyfriend did not finish his steak because he ordered medium rare but some of it was rare. In general, if your prices are typically higher at least the food or the experience should be worth it. Unfortunately, neither met our expectations. Personally, I would not recommend this place. Maybe staffing was an issue but even the food was not great.
top notch service and atmosphere, healthy food and tastes great but portions are smaller than expected
We went for my friend s birthday dinner. The place is beautiful however I can not justify going back due to 1) Most of us ordered steaks. We all asked for medium rare. All our steaks were different. Mine was rare, birthday girl medium well, and others medium. When I informed the waiter that my steak looks rare. He took mine and the bday girl s to the kitchen. He came back and said these are medium rare with a bit of an annoyance to his tone. I said sure and just took it. They did not believe us when you could literally see how rare it was. It was so rare you could barely cut into it. 2) They ruined my friend s birthday cake. No apologies, no heads up before cake, and audacity to charge a cake plating fee for a cake they damaged. 3) They did not come around for refills for our drinks. Unfortunately, did not pay much attention to us. Despite it not even being busy on the second floor. Overall, I think there are much nicer restaurants to go for good steak, french food, and celebrating special occasions. They put more effort into appearance rather than customer experience and food. I do not mind spending $200+ for dinners but not worth it here.
Great and inviting space both inside and outside! Servers are lovely :)
La Plume has a lovely ambiance with beautiful interior decor, and the speakeasy is simply gorgeous. The place is spacious, adding to its appeal. the service was on point attentive and friendly .However, the food was not good at all. The steak, in particular, was disappointing and lacked flavor. Overall, La Plume is worth visiting for the ambiance and service, but the food could use some improvement.
Much better than I expected. FOOD: Traditional Beef Tartare: great portion, very fresh meat. Not too salty or too much onion. French Onion Soup: advertised to be chef secret family recipe, cooked in 2 days. I expected this to be crazy good but its nothing different and any other onion soup. Salt Spring Mussels: I rarely like mussels but I love this one. Amazing sauce, mussels were cleaned well so no sand in it at all. Hudson Valley Duck Breast: super tender, very well balanced flavor and texture. Crunchy, tender, soft, smoooth, chewy, everything all in 1 plate. 10/10 SERVICE: cant complain. VIBE: upscale vibe with lots of natural light. The interior is so elegant and european vibe.
I had dinner on the gorgeous patio, and Akshit was my server. The service was flawless he was both charming and professional. I had the Cauliflower Salad and the Rotisserie Chicken; both were amazing, but the salad was my favorite. The chicken was a bit overcooked, but the flavor was excellent and the gravy was delicious. I m definitely coming back for more!
a great time with our server Kelly who took care of us like a 5 star service. The terrace is very nice with very French music. Come for the atmosphere!!!
Visited last week had a good experience Akshit served me really well
Great food, I enjoyed everything that we ordered
The food and service were authentically French, possibly even Parisian. Its unfortunately overpriced and is situated in a shopping mall where the temperature of the restaurant cannot be controlled on the premises but instead is controlled centrally by the building(!) I cant believe Im writing this in 2024.
Been to La Plume several times due to convenience. However, every time I come here it is a different experience. The food is good but the service is inconsistent. The hosts have no clue about what they are doing. The servers are also very inexperienced, they barely come to your table unless you specifically ask them to. No refills on waters, barely any recommendations from the menu. The atmosphere, especially the speakeasy is the reason we keep coming back but the service needs improvement.
Not sure how tonight went so wrong. It was my wifes birthday. Augustin was very inattentive, very dismissive of me. Did nothing special for our table despite the table next to us getting a birthday cake. The tables are super small and have fun dining with the mice if youre on the patio.
Great place . Pricey but worth it. At least you know what you pay for. Beef tartar was especially delicious
Beautiful place, great for a beautiful breakfast w friends or family.
September 2024 - revised rating Customer Service timely resolved issue. Will definitely revisit. August 2024 Had food poisoning after eating here. I had the Caesar salad and onion soup. The onion soup was very salty it numbs my tastebuds.
Worst service and food! lots of attitude from the second we were sitted. Cold coffees, and the brunch order was exactly the opposite as we wanted them to be! Couldn t even finish my food. Really disappointing!
I had an extremely disappointing experience at this establishment. From the moment we were seated, we encountered unprofessional service and a lack of courtesy. Our coffees arrived cold, and our brunch order was completely incorrect, not at all what we had requested. The food was so unsatisfactory that I couldnt even finish it. Overall, it was a deeply unsatisfying visit.
Came here a few days ago for girls night and my experience was excellent from the beginning to the end Was greeted by a lovely host with curly hair - she sat us down in a great spot on the patio and made sure our server arrived quickly Once we were seated, our server (can t remember her name) made excellent recommendations and answered all our questions thoroughly. We ended up getting the tartar and the cavitelli and it was to die for. Hefty price point but well worth it I m hoping to return soon with my husband and kids just so they can try the pasta dish. If you re in the well looking for somewhere to eat this is the place to be
I stopped by today I have to say it was sad I see it always busy and what a disappointment I had looks nice inside that s about it !! My server well not very good manger walking around saw my disappointing face but didn t stop to see why. Coffee is horrible!! My spoon to stir my espresso was almost as big as my cup !! croissants are not fresh frozen in the middle !!! server didn t even check on me. All I have to say good luck.
i came here sunday afternoon with some friends and the host was super accommodating despite it being busy and sat us down outside. & the server came over and was super nice as well. the food was also great but we overheard one of the managers speaking to one of the servers in a disrespectful way and it kind of ruined the experience. the service was great just the managers were kind of interesting to say the least
Must haves include the French Onion Burger/Sliders (sliders come in a set of 3), Steak Tartare, Whole Seabream, Green Bean Almondine, and Frites. Friendly service, Happy Hour from 2-5PM is half off all beverages.
Excellent food and service.
I came in for a mimosa and loved it. Server tabby gave me a tour of the whole restaurant and explained the menu very well. Will definitely come in next time for dinner.
Worst O&B restaurant Ive ever been too. While the atmosphere was quite nice, the whole seating arrangement left you scratching your head. This is supposed be a French restaurant, not a French cafe. The tables are so small you can barely have two plates and two glasses set without practically knocking things over every few seconds. There are very few seats and yet the outdoor seating area in well over 3000 sq. feet. So why not provide more accommodating tables? They are trying so hard to imitate a genuine Parisian street cafe that they neglected to remember this is supposed to be a full service multi-course restaurant . The food is very bland and most items are prepared souvide with little to no seasoning before hand. My steak was watery and had no taste. My wife and I both order rare steaks, neither one was rare and the bearnaise sauce was congealed and separated when brought to our table. My steak was finished medium and I had to send it back. My wife was able to finish her entire meal before my new meal was served. Service was very slow the whole evening. We arrived at 8pm and didnt have our mains delivered untill after 9:30, and I didnt get my properly prepared mean until after 10pm. Theres nothing French about this restaurant other than the name. I ADORE French food and was very excited to try this newish restaurant in The Well, and had hoped for a similar experience to Maison Selby. Another O&B restaurant that my wife and I frequent quite regularly, that serves genuine French food that is absolutely magnificent. I would only recommend this place for cocktails which were surprisingly good and well assorted, the wine list was less than desirable however and was missing far too many regional varietals that should always be available at a French restaurant. Overall it was a very disappointing evening out, I would avoid this place. Unless you enjoy sitting around forever waiting for bland food.
Awesome Sunday afternoon - drinks & oysters can t beat it
Yesterday, I visited a French restaurant, and I absolutely loved the atmosphere! I m really drawn to modern places with a fresh vision where attention is paid to every detail: beautiful furniture, elegant tableware, and even a stylish restroom. That s exactly what I appreciate! And of course, the food was delicious. The oysters, which you can order with a 50% discount during lunch hours (until 5 PM), were a highlight. But the star of the meal was the branzino. I prefer fish, and I have to say, this was the best branzino I ve had in Toronto. Very fresh, a small portion, and an amazing sauce that complemented the dish perfectly. Highly recommend trying it if youre in the area!more information my_new_life23
Our server took our order and then didn t come back, mind you, it was happy hour and I did see her speaking to other tables but she didn t touch our table. I saw her texting on her phone and I had to ask an SA to water us. Another server was wonderful and took our next order before happy hour was over. I don t mind waiting for service but to only have spoken to our server twice is quite egregious. Overall, the food was good, happy hour is good and the restaurant is beautiful but maybe more training is needed. The manager ended up coming and addressing my issues, they were lovely overall and I understand that they were understaffed.
Cant ask for more!
We tried the happy hour cocktails and shrimp. Really good shareable and the Negroni had a little twist but turned out to be fantastic. Fun French place. Sienna served us well.
The service was atrocious. No attention to detail, long waits, missed orders, cold food and rude staff. First time ever at any restaurant we ve been to we decided not to tip. Won t be returning.
A really disappointing evening at La Plume. We spent 3 hours there and only ordered 1 course, we would have liked to order dessert but eventually gave up because the service was so poor. Food was really tasty but lukewarm and my risotto had a sort of film on it as if it had been left out for a while. A shame as otherwise it tasted really good. There was a long wait between arriving and ordering food, receiving the food and even getting the bill and paying the bill. Our dirty plates were left on the table for ages too. Our waiter didn t even check in to ask how the food was and we were virtually ignored after putting in our order. To top it off, when we paid, he kept disappearing in between payments at the table drawing out that process even more so. We decided not to leave a tip because we were so disappointed with the service but instead of asking why we weren t tipping and how the meal was, the waiter passive aggressively reached across for the next bill, circled the tax amount and wrote TAXES across the bill as he assumed we thought that was auto gratuity. All in all, pretty good food bar the temperature, awful wait times and service.
Updated Review: My party of four had a less than desirable experience. Someone named Larissa from Oliver and Bonacini corporate office took it upon herself to call me, deeply concerned about what had happened. She genuinely wanted to investigate the matter further to ensure that it isnt something other guests would experience. She truly seemed to care and I believe she has gotten to the bottom of the matter. While its too late to reverse the experience we had, Im satisfied that the likelihood of future guests experiencing what we did is low.
Immaculate brunch patio vibes at the well. Beef tartare was the highlight of my brunch. Very creamy and vibrant and I love that it was served with various fried vegetables such as lotus root, taro, potato chips. Cocktails were great and well presented. We got the plume star and questce que cest. Both are very similar in taste profiles, citrus and sparkling. The tuna Niçoise salad was disappointing. I couldn t taste any flavour in both the tuna and the salad had to ask for more vinaigrette, which took awhile to come, still lacking in flavour. The mushroom on toast was much much better! Overall great vibes. Would try different dishes and hope it s bette next time.
Our initial reservation was for a Tuesday, however due to historical summer storm that brought chaos over the entire city, the reservation was cancelled due to loss of power. The restaurant offers the possibility to dine inside or outside the patio. We made the online reservation for patio, however upon arrival we were told that the patio cant be reserved and is filled with patrons on a first come first served base. We asked to be accommodate on the patio, however we were told that it may take a bit as they need to both clear and set up the table. Looked that the place was either understaffed or it was a very busy Thursday night as it took a while to get the table ready. The interior of the restaurant is beautiful. The patio was great too and loved that they welcome patrons and their pets. It was a girls night out celebrating wedding anniversaries for 2 of us (32 & respective 34 years of marriage). Weve started our evening with drinks, however one of us managed to spill the entire drink on the dress. We used 2 of our fabric napkins to dab the drink of the dress. We reordered another drink and ask for replacement of the napkins. As I mentioned, the place was either understaffed, a Thursday night bussier than normal or just not quite to the par trained staff. It took about 25 min to bring the drink, that came almost at the end of the meal. The napkins were never replaced. We have ordered duck breast, ocean trout and steak au poivre. Duck breast, and the ocean trout were great, however the mash potato that came with the steak was completely cold and we asked to be heated. We appreciate that the restaurant took the plate back but never expected for them to provide a brand new steak order. By the time the steak was served, the 2 of us finished the dinner all readdy. The food was great but the delays, the unfulfilled requests spoilled the celebration dinner. Verry disappointed of the service, most likely wont go back there again.
We celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary here last night and want to thank the restaurant for such a wonderful experience. From the moment we entered the place up until we left it was all amazing. They were so sweet to give us a handwritten note. Atmosphere on the patio is beautiful. Our entire meal was delicious. Toronto can be very hit or miss with quality but everything we had was amazing here- genuinely impressed. Happy overall and will definitely be back!
Had brunch here for the first time. And really gooood. I feel like i haven t had this good brunch for a while. When I enter I really loved the vibe right away. Super cute atmosphere. My boyfriend really loved it. We insist going out patio cuz inside was way cuter. We ordered food and everything was good! Cocktails were really amazing too. Nothing to complain about. Really had a wonderful day here. Thanks. Will keep going back
Great customer service and ambiance.
Unfortunately the vegetarian options left much to be desired! I found the gnocchi very overcooked (I was eating mush), the burrata portion size much too small for the $19 price tag. the chocolate marquise was just okay! great service though and I very much enjoyed their patio, and that it is pup friendly. Food
We came to La Plume last week on July 25th for a special occasion. We chose to seat on the patio which increase busy for a Thursday night. When food arrived we were very impressed by the presentation. My daughter puree( mashed potatoes) was cold, so we send it back. Then my daughter spilled her drink Ques ca se and we cleaned the table, nobody offered any help, then because we used 2 of ours cloth napkins we asked for new ones, which never arrived. We asked for another drink for her which arrived after we all finished to eat. In the mean time she cleaned herself in the bathroom, the food finally arrived, while we were all done, and by the end her drink arrived. So , to summarize, location is nice, the restaurant is beautiful, but some of the food and service need a lots of improvement. It was quite a disappointment, especially when you pay almost $300.
Disappointing. Expect more from and O & B restaurant. We went for the brunch. I had the La Plume breakfast (bacon, eggs, lamb sausage, and sourdough toast). The eggs and bacon was nothing special, lamb sausage was fine, and the toast was so burnt it was inedible. I asked the server if he could replace the toast, he went away and came back and said the chef wanted to see it so I had to put it on a plate which he took away, and by the time he returned with other toast, I had finished the breakfast. Furthermore, it wasnt toast it was a piece of sourdough that had been put on a grill and burned-- the second time just black grill marks rather than completely torched. And not buttered. Friends had the eggs Benedict and the croque madame crepe-- both said the same thing-- okay but nothing special. We all had an Aperol spritz which was the same price as it is in the Dorset next door (also an O & B) restaurant but half the size and less aperol. For 150 before tip, we were not impressed at all.
My friend liked her steak frittes. The rest of us had very disappointing meals and drinks. The gnocchi was overcooked and not flavorful at all. The burrata was just as lacking in flavour. As a salt lover that oversalts my food, the spaghetti vongole was too salty to even finish. For the price of the ocean trout risotto, it was nothing special. Unfortunately that can be said for nearly every meal we ordered. The peppercorn steak and mashed potatos were so doused in peppercorn it was a struggle to eat. We didnt make any complaints about the food because we didnt expect it to be replaced/with something better. Most of our alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails tasted watered down. The waitress was nice enough to replace them with different drinks when i asked. The tropical fizz and expresso maritini tasted fine. Everyone thought the la coquette tasted very odd/weird. Gorgeous interior.
Came here for happy hour drinks. Our server Jaynie gave us great recommendations for which drinks to get and was wonderful throughout our stay. Drinks were great, the french onion soup was also decent.
My friends and I chose La Plume for a special dinner, as one of us was visiting from the States and this was her last day in Toronto. Unfortunately, our experience fell extremely short of expectations, and we were thoroughly disappointed and embarrassed. We began with cocktails, but found half of them to be watered down (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails) and difficult to enjoy. Although we have never before sent back drinks, we apologetically requested replacements, which our server reluctantly provided. The appetizers were unremarkable: the Belgioioso burrata was unseasoned and bland, the tempura shrimp and vegetables were forgettable and lacked distinction. The only enjoyable appetizer was the beef tartare (the only positive aspect of our experience). However, the main courses were even more disappointing. The steak au poivre consisted of an overbearing, excessive coating of whole peppercorns that took away from the rest of the flavours on the plate, making it difficult to enjoy a single bite (literally MULTIPLE whole peppercorns in every bite of the steak). Additionally, the mashed potatoes were unseasoned and gummy, resembling the consistency of boxed instant mashed potatoes. My friends spaghetti vongole was excessively salty, gnocchi was unseasoned, and the ocean trout was uninspired and lacked refinement. Unfortunately, our server did not return to check on us after the entrees arrived, leaving us unable to address these issues. Given the high-end pricing, we anticipated a superior dining experience, but instead found the food and service to be below average. We had hoped for a memorable dining experience to cap off our friends trip, but instead it became memorable for all the wrong reasons. There are other French restaurants in Toronto that offer better quality food and service at a comparable price point. While we are more than willing to pay a premium for exceptional dining, this experience did not justify the cost. I have always wanted to try the Oliver & Bonacini restaurants, however this visit has left us with a negative impression of Oliver & Bonacini, and we are unlikely to return to any of their restaurants.
I recently dined at La Plume with a party of 12, and while the food was kind of underwhelming, the service from Nanu and Karol was outstanding. They were attentive and ensured we were well taken care of. I tried the beef cheek pappardelle, gnocchi Parisienne, and sweetbreads and mushroom on toast. The sweetbreads and mushroom on toast were the best-tasting dish of the night. The gnocchi was quite bland and disappointing, and the beef cheek was just okay. Overall, the dining experience was saved by the excellent service.
I came here to grab some oysters during happy hour and i loved them. The plume star also was really good. Great service by Nanu. Nice place
Had brunch at Le Plume today, the restaurant is beautiful (great for selfies) our waiter was very friendly and checked in from time to time. The salad was surprisingly delish, who knew olives and beets goes so well together The french onion burger was not bad overall but the patty was a bit dry. The creme brulee portion is large enough for 2 people. If you are not a fan of french food, check out the food court - it is one of a kind (none of the fast food chains). The underground parking is spacious, clean and bright.
Came here for dinner. Overall the food was okay. I m a big fun of tartar but it wasn t something special but with the chips, it was better. The onion soup had a strong flavor but was too salty for me. The steak and chicken was tender but it s not worth it to eat.
First time at this new concept and I was blown away. From the service to the handsome bearded manager (seriously guys, he s a snack) - the French onion soup was next level and the ambiance was incredible.
La plume is a beautiful restaurant,.me and my friends tried the Egg Benedict and croissants must say, I loved everything about it. The service was outstanding, and they really took care of us. Highly satisfied! Our server Nanu Thank you!
Beautiful restaurant, loved the option of the speak easy. Food is a little expensive for what it is.
Excellent service, yummy cocktail! Loved the vibe the of the place. Thank you Noor for taking care of us.
We re very disappointed in the concierge service. At 1:45pm, we were told that there wasn t any available table (which we saw a few empty table inside). And the concierge didn t even offer us the next available timeslot. This is unprofessional.
Yevheniia was a wonderful server, lovely reception very attentive and helpful. Awesome happy hour vino!
What a great addition to the the Well. The food was great. And the happy hour was wonderful! But the service . They was fantastic! Yevheniia (only knew her name from the receipt) was wonderful. Try this place y all. Afternoon happy hour is a must
I came here with a friend for happy hour when she visited from Vancouver a couple of weeks ago at most. We ordered a couple of their house cocktails each and a dozen of the oysters to snack on while enjoying the atmosphere and our time. I politely asked our waitress, who was pleasant and fantastic, if they made their tobasco in house or not. She had to check with a manager which isnt that big of a deal, I understand that this might not be covered during orientation / training. She politely asked a female manager while she was bussing the table. The managers response was tabasco is a brand and we buy it in bulk. Since Ive had years of experience in the industry myself, I was completely baffled by this response. Not only was this completely unprofessional given that this was infront of guests but her answer made it sound like she knew everything and she technically threw her server under the bus. The waitress came back and I had to tell her that tabasco IS NOT a brand, but a chili sauce that is made with tabasco chilis. I gave her the example of how there are different types of Sriacha sauces at the grocery store, but theyre all made by different brands while using their own recipe. The waitress understood the analogy right away and was apologetic. None of this was her fault and like I mentioned, she was great. However, I am baffled how an establishment that is as nice as La Plume would hire someone who has no management etiquette nor common food / sauce knowledge. I wont be coming back and needless to say I wont be recommending La Plume to anyone else in the near future. Such a shame.
Very nice food and service from Anghel!
Overall 5 stars service was great and food was amazing
Food was amazing, alongside the service! Anghel was our server and was so joyous throughout our dinner, while ensuring our night was perfect. Definitely going to come back!!
This restaurant was absolutely fantastic. From the service to the food, it couldn t have been better!! Will definitely be back in the near future!
Love this restaurant to the core. The food is phenomenal, the staff is so warm and hospitable, and the ambience is so tasteful. Their mushroom tartare is so good, I will definitely come again and again and again for it. Thank you for your hospitality, team la plume. <3
Attentive service and great tasting food.
The food is good, but everything takes fooooreeveer for them to do and serve, so you can t really enjoy if all the way you have to wait for getting your meal: line at the host stand to be seated though we had a reservation, my appetizer burratta was brought after my campaigner had eaten the soup, then were waiting for long for main courses, I regretted what order second glass of wine as it took forever for them to bring it... I reminded about the wine, the waiter said the bar is at the first floor and we are at the second It s your problem that you designed the restaurant in that way you can t serve in an appropriate way. Then we waited a bit for a dessert, but much looooonger we waited for two cappuccinos we ordered for the dessert I guess again they couldn t lift them up from the bar One of the worst services I have seen.
Nanu was fantastic and entertaining
Double charged me and told me they would refund...its been 2 weeks and they still have not paid anything back. Wouldnt go back.
I would have given this place a 5 star because the food and atmosphere were fantastic. But I was underwhelmed with the hostess! There is a really cute speakeasy upstairs as most place do have one now. After dinner we asked to go upstairs to the speak easy for an after dinner drink but she said no it s full meanwhile our waitress had offered to take us there . So we had a drink instead at the main bar downstairs. After talking with the lovely bartender at the bar, we asked again if we could go to the speakeasy and she took us upstairs to only to find out that the place had plenty of empty seats!! . I really feel that the hostess wasn t honest with us which is weird cause we were all well dressed sophisticated friendly people and we had just spent money on a big dinner ..
The atmosphere was nice and the food was fine, but the service was questionable. When you pay $35 for eggs and a cup of coffee, you should at least be offered a refill on your coffee. When we asked you use the washroom the staff informed us that it s better to use the washrooms at the Indigo store next door as the ones at the restaurant might not be clean which is a strange and concerning thing to share with a customer. She also shared that the staff is not allowed to use the washroom at the restaurant which, again, is a strange and concerning thing to share with a customer. The overall lack of customer service for high prices is the reason we won t return.
This restaurant is pretty but the food is extremely mediocre, the service is terrible they need to train their staff better and get organized. Save your money so many better French restaurants in the city.
Good for happy hours, the cocktails are great.
Choco marquise was really exquisite. Akshit took really good care of us. A real cute guy. Amazing atmosphere Food
We ordered the dessert Chocolate Marquise which was really delicious and perfect. Our server, Akshit, was incredibly sweet and warm, making the experience even more enjoyable. La Plume is a must-visit. Ill definitely be back!
La Plume is located inside the Well at the Upper ground level or street level. The atmosphere was warm and gives you Paris vibes. Pretty casual so no need to dress up. Excellent service! Our server was very attentive and explained the dishes so well. We had the fois gra on a crepe and sweetbread with mushrooms on toast. I didn t realize sweetbread is actually the cheek of the cow. Tasted like chicken, so good! Our mains we had the valley duck, it was cooked medium rare and was so delicious. Our desert we ordered the chocolate cake with whipped cream and a drizzle of olive oil. The creme brûlée was delicious! Would highly recommend!!!
Super nice French restaurant the decor is beautiful the drinks and the service are good we didnt eat here so I cant speak to the food but I would definitely go back.
Great spot, great flavourful food and they have a hidden speakeasy. Ask the host or server to guide you Our server Akshit was fun and took good care. Food
We had a beautiful evening enjoying the state-of-the -art foods and very nice hospitality. The shrimp Tempura / cauliflower salad and duck breast are very good . Coming to dessert, the Crème Brûlée is fantastic. But more than that , I must say this beautiful energetic and very kind waitress which every restaurant ( even the French ! ), must be proud of having her ! Her name is Iuliana . She made our evening. Thanks !
I tried it twice.. food was so so. Good decor, they just haven t got it right yet.. will possibly give them another chance a few months later when they are more settled in. Food : 3/5
So my initial impression was fine, I guess. The interior was nice. But that s where the compliments end. Once we ordered, we were sitting there for maybe 40-45 minutes. My dad had ordered a medium-rare New York steak. 45 minutes later, the steak arrived well-done. My friend ordered a spaghetti with tomato sauce. Guess what they gave her? A spaghetti with butter. Like, wow. Either they hired a 5-year-old that can t follow instructions for a chef, or the chef is just retarded. I also couldn t help but notice that the manager seemed to just be walking around in circles and going up and down the elevator. The only other thing that was fine was our waitress. This was my first and last time I m going there. Would not recommend.
This is my very first time, and unfortunately my last time for this restaurant. We arrived at about 5 on a Sunday afternoon, the restaurant was almost empty however it took them about 45-50 minutes to prepare our food. I have ordered a $55 dollars worth medium rare New York steak, but see what I got in the picture below!! That was a WELL DONE! Even the kids meal was wrongly prepared, it meant to be a tomato sauce spaghetti and turned out it was butter sauce one. Not to mention the manager was walking around and pretending busy for nothing. Ironically a fly has been circling around our food with no reason. Will I be coming back? Absolutely NOT
As a person who dined here recently, this place is considered terrible. This place catches the eye of many people and looks like a beautiful, delicious restaurant. We have waited an hour just to find out our food was never entered. The food here was overpriced, served small portions. $55 out the window for well done steak which was supposed to be medium rare I ordered a tomato sauced spaghetti only to find out they had misplaced it for an buttered spaghetti.
It really reminds me of a Parisian bistro and cafe, the tiles on the floor were nice, I did find the tables a bit small and chairs are uncomfortable after you sit more than 2 hours. The service, so good and they pay a lot of attention to you, providing new plates and cutlery after every course and wiping the tables. The food, more on the salty side, and it was not timed properly since kitchen is upstairs so the food winds up cold especially the main when it gets to your table. We tried the French onion (too salty, but great flavours and cheese), scallop tartare and it was sooooo fresh with good flavours and I liked the various chips (root, potato, taro) and pickles, the crepe with fois gras and orange sauce was delicious with nuts and orange sauce. Also we tried the trout with asparagus/pea risotto and the trout was crispy on the outside and rare on the inside, the sauce for the risotto was delicious, just not hot enough.
La Plume by The Well is a nice French restaurant with a high ceiling and airy vibe about it. I definitely felt like I was transported to another world of oooh la la. The servers were attentive and friendly. They were happy to cater to our requests and questions. And we barely had to wait for our food to arrive. The cocktails were recommended by our server. I really enjoyed it as it was not overly sweet. We also ordered the venison tartare, the duck, curried mussels, and the branzino. The branzino was lovely without bones. Love the taste of the mussels, but I wish there were more sauce with it. Literally, everything was wonderful. Will definitely go back to try other dishes.
Food was okay but the service was really slow and disorganized. We had different servers coming to the table and doing parts - someone took our main dishes away over 10 mins after we were done eating and it took another 10 mins for us to ask for a dessert menu from a different server who came to our table. From sitting down to having one main and one dessert each for a table of 2, it took approximately 2 hours when the restaurant was not full.
Really tasty food and loved the Creme Brulee. Thank-you for your service Akshit
The food delivery was prolonged; it stinks because of the street repairs! Terrible! Our server, Kaylee, was a sweetheart, but thats it! Only her was worth it Food
Food - Omelette had very little favour and very runny inside, plus the brie on top(which was great) made it extra gooey, I dont like runny eggs, but there was very little seasoning to make it palatable, the shredded hash bits were nice and helped but ya... - the Tartar Crostini was suuuper good, love tartar, love the flavors bread was nice compliment - the iberico was very delicious but SUPER thin so pairing it with the bread heavily overwhelmed the pork. There were these little peppers plated with it that complimented it very well, but you can barely touch the bread if you want to enjoy it. Drinks - we came at happy hour which was soooo worth it because all drinks are half price. I think they really shine with the drinks. We had four (QUEST-CE QUE CEST, ÉPIQUE!, LA COQUETTE, and PLUME STAR MARTINI). - They were all very good, but the questce que cest and epique were divine. (Pics attached) - The Plume star was like a more mid version of the questce que cest Service - hostess was struggggling. We got there at 2 and it seems like brunch is supposed to go until 230 but she seemed very confused about this and just gave us the lunch menu. I asked is this the brunch and she said yes. I didnt wanna press the issue tho our main thing was to come for the brunch, really wanted the eggs benny, which is not on the lunch menu. Then she says later that brunch is only on the weekends? Im still confused. Nor does it say that anywhere. Next struggle was identifying the HAPPY HOUR... the sign outside says 2pm, the website says 2pm, she thinks its 3pm. She goes and asks and it is indeed 2pm, gives us the bites menu which also says 2pm finally gives the half priced drinks deal. - waitress was new, it was her first shift so cant fault her for anything CONCLUSION - All in all, pretty good meal, the flavor range was nice (which im big on) definitely want to try more things on the menu (especially the freaking eggs benny). The happy hour is GOATed for sure and the drinks are INSANELY good at those happy hour prices
I never leave bad reviews, but this time I can t resist. I had high expectations for this place considering its new and beautiful inside, however, our waiter singlehandedly made it the most awkward night ever. I worked in the service industry in the past, so I understand how it is like on the service side. I have never pushed my guests to leave a high tip. As per my understanding the tip depends on the quality of service provided, not just because we have to leave at least 20%. At the end, we were interrupted and reminded that we were supposed to leave a higher tip. We all left a tip on 3 bills - the service was horrible. (Everyone else - the host and runners were great tho).
This is a cool French bistro, located in Toronto s trendy Well development. We ordered a French onion soup, rotisserie chicken and the ocean trout. All of the meals were very good, with the ocean trout and onion soup to be a stand out. Cocktails are served with an extreme attention to detail. We ordered an old fashioned which was smoked and served with a giant monogrammed ice cube. It s the little details. The ultimate star of our overall experience was our waitress. Incredible energy, upbeat, knowledgeable and unbelievably accommodating. She made the overall experience that much better. In fact, I would go there again just for her service alone. She was that good. This is a perfect place to sit and have dinner on a great patio, sipping a glass of wine and people watching.
The best Dine In Experience, the Bartender Brandon made a special drink on request. Our server Olga was friendly and touched the table 6 times to check everything and it felt like a special experience. The Burrata and the Creme Bruleé were delicious with the combination of sparkling Plume Star Cocktail. Definitely a must go place! Overall The Food and staff service is best. Coming here on next off as well!
It s quite disappointing to write this review however I feel perhaps it may encourage some change from the restaurant. I dined here on for dinner on Thursday July 4th with my friends. We were seated on the second floor just beside the glass overlooking the upper balconette where there were tables for seating. Midway through our dinner, I noticed 2 mice in this area and as some may expect, I screamed. When I tried to get the waiters attention regarding this issue, I was met with a response of so what do you want me to do about it? I appreciate in the city this can often be seen however for mice to be roaming around in a seated area of a such a restaurant is not something I would expect. More importantly, I was shocked at the response of the waiter who felt it was okay to not even address or bring to the attention of someone senior. We were the only party dining in this area at the time and thankfully the door between the outdoor and indoor area had only just recently been shut. The food and ambiance of the restaurant was very pleasant however this experience and especially the restaurants response was unacceptable especially for such an establishment. I urge others to pay attention if going here and raise it with the restaurant so some action can be taken. Very disappointed in their response and lack of care.
Une soirée magnifique at La Plume! As a first-timer diving into the world of French cuisine, this place truly captured my heart and palate. We began our evening with the classic French onion soup-rich, comforting, and perfect. Next up, the spaghetti vongole, a delightful surprise with its fresh, delicate flavors. The flat iron steak was cooked to perfection, and the Hudson Valley duck breast, paired exquisitely with a glass of pinot noir, was simply sublime. This was my favourite dish from the evening! We also tried their whole Branzino which was SO delicious! For dessert, the crème brûlée was the perfect mix of creamy and crunchy, and the chocolate marquise... oh là là, a chocoholics dream come true! Highly recommend trying put this place at the Well!
Just an OKAY experience. Came after work for a drink and a bite, we were seated on the patio. Cant say anything exceptional about the service, the beef tartare was quite dry, I would not order it again. The thin fries that came with the tartare main were good with the aoili. Overall, an average addition to the King West / The Well neighbourhood.
I have been there twice. The first time was when it first opened and it was during the Happy Hour. We chose from Bar Bites menu, which was great. The sliders were amazing. Service was also very good. Went again for dinner and was disappointed. For the price, the dinner portions are small and a bit over the top in taste. The service was still good, but definitely not as attentive as the first time. Also, both times there was a strange smell. Not sure if this is due to construction. But the odour was both inside and outside.
I had a shrimp and green beans it was beautifully served by akshit.
First time there, branding and architecture is spectacular. Well, hostess service was perfect, when moved to the table was deviling as the bar was high since the entrance. Hostess was perfect, then first server didn t know the menu (not his fault, that s lack of training). Then, a more experienced server came talking super loud screaming to us was 10min to finish HH (I felt cheap) and she s serving my table so why yell. Well, she was hiper we were tired so was too much but we ignored, were there to rest. Next, she served our wine bottle so abruptly with the same high energy that spilled half of cup there and left, again, all so fast that I was still overwhelmed. And of course got embarrassed to get her attention to that, and, we order appetizers and dinner, another person came with and no appetizers so we asked to cancel. The jumpy first server came back and mocked that appetizer was never pinched it?? Is ok all chilled but again, collecting basics mistake and treating us as pals , soiled wine all over table, didn t clean, no sorry and just chilled mention appetizers was not punch in and laugh? I mean, all cool but not for the price and 20% tips. Besides the servers experience I highly recommend the place, was just a totally different servers personality from the branding and experience La Plume wants to transmit. Server was chill and fun but maybe for a pub. Not there. Incoherent for the experience La Plume wants transmit and it no her fault, it s the recruiters fault
i spent my birthday here last weekend with 10 guests and the service was amazing. we were a larger group and provided a room upstairs and there were no other guests in our section so it felt like a private room. service was great, everyone enjoyed their food, and then i was given a hand-written note wishing me a happy birthday with dessert. we then had drinks at the speak easy bar upstairs and were able to walk right in without a wait. i was also given a glass of free prosecco at the speak easy. everyone enjoyed it and would definitely recommend if you plan on celebrating a special event here!
Cannot praise enough on how great the service was tonight. We were treated with compassion and kindness. We took some friends out for a birthday dinner and our waiter was super understanding. The food was impeccable, especially the rotisserie chicken. The curry mussels could have been more curry-y, if anything, but other than that, everything was great. Will be back for another celebration feast. (This was in stark contrast to our experience at The Dorset, where our waiter was not knowledgeable at all and the food comparatively was amateurish.)
Rotisserie chicken is the star of the show
Love the vibes and we really enjoyed our dishes! Had the beef tartare to start. Our mains were the steak frites (ny striploin) and ocean trout, then finished off with the crème brûlée. Id order these dishes again without hesitation! Everything tasted so fresh, steak was cooked a perfect medium rare and trout was very flakey. Our server was also very attentive and I loved her positive attitude. Well definitely be back!
Dietary restrictions: Very accommodating towards our nut allergies Food
Tenderloin was excellent.
This place has amazing deal for happy hours. The chicken slider is really tasty & I tried the tropical something drink, it was really summery. Will come back to have brunch next time, also our server Akshit was very sweet and caring. Food
Ive been wanting to check out La Plume for a while and finally went in for dinner on Saturday night! I was promptly greeted with a warm welcome from Marcus, who was personable and attentive. He really made my dining experience great and I would highly recommend him as your server. The food was amazing as well. I had the escarole Caesar and the seared branzino, which were done beautifully! The branzino was cooked to perfection and the vinaigrette sauce paired excellently with the fish.
Nice atmosphere not the food.
Very cute little restaurant with a beautiful patio and Wellington Street. Came for the Sunday, happy hour drink and oysters. The drinks we had us a group were amazing every single one of them and even though we didn t get a choice and not oysters, they re selection was flavourful and meaty. The servers were attentive and very helpful. We also had some of the baked goods, and the cherry brioche was the best I ve had in town recommend
Great ambiance and good food.
I particularily love Paris and adore the design of this restaurant. It really is stunning. My Mothers Day brunch experience here was wonderful. We were a group of 7. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the food and the hospitality. The kids (8 & 10) were happy as well, which can be a tough crowd. We were well taken care of. Even with a rather bustling restaurant, we were in and out without any noticeable delay. Made it to the Jays Game with ample time to spare. Highly recommend!
Lovely place, happy hour deal is amazing and the restaurant is gorgeous
Atmosphere was great, but food was very mediocre. Beef tartar didn t have enough flavor. Cocktails were also nothing special. I loved frites the most out of all items we tried.
Had an amazing time at La Plume! The food was absolutely fantastic, and the place looks gorgeous. Loved the beautiful patio perfect spot to enjoy a meal outside. The highlight for me was definitely the hazelnut dessert. It was incredible! Seriously, you have to try it. Highly recommend this place for great food and a lovely atmosphere. Will definitely be coming back!
We decided to visit The Well and as we were walking around, we came across La Plume. We were escorted to the upper floor, to a table with an amazing view. Fortunately, we arrived during Happy Hour and La Plume offers half price drinks and oysters. How could we resist? We shared 2 dozen oysters and enjoyed some delicious white wine. Our server, Crystal A was attentive, knowledgeable and just a joy to deal with. We will definitely visit La Plume on our next trip to Toronto!
I was really looking forward to coming here. Got the oysters and they weren t cleaned/shucked properly and I got shell in my mouth. Mentioned this to my server and the manager gave me a laughable discount to make up for it. It honestly would have been better if they hadn t docked anything off. Won t be coming back.
Had the 1/2 price oysters and drinks for happy hour. Cocktails and food was great. Check out the speak easy.
La Plume has become a weekend spot for us. Amazing service, dog friendly, prices that can t be beat, and A-plus oysters and drinks. Looking for a Sunday spot? Look no further. Drinks and oysters are half off every single day between 3pm and 6pm!
Great patio spot with a truly plush ambiance. We ordered the mushroom wild bread and it was a light, savory appetizer that can fit just about anything. Gnocchi was a miss for me; it was too bland for my liking (I noticed that this isn t one of the main things people order too). Lastly, we were told that the creme brûlée was going to be thick because of the unique cream they use see pic below. It s hard to not like a creme brûlée, but I can say the paris brest might be worth trying first before ordering this. They also have fragrant cocktails perfect for a girls dinner. TLDR; there are gems on the menu at La Plume. Order the popular ones before diving into the others. Ambiance, so far, is the bigger deal. It can get busy; be prepared to wait a bit to get a hold of staff, but the space is new, so I think that s just standard.
Went for Sunday Brunch - Ordered French Burger W Fries. Was up sold on how premium quality the beef is + how it s rare in the middle and it s their best seller. It was a big let down on all fronts- quality, presentation, and taste. Overdone tasteless nothing burger. Stick to the other egg items and baked goods - much more appealing.
The food was really good. The place is Beautiful. Our Server Crystal A was great!!
Waited over an hour to find out our food was never entered.
Very disappointing in many levels but unfortunately that is now common in Toronto for new restaurants. We ordered scallop tartare to start and had to send it back due to the extreme fishy taste and smell. Very off putting. My clam pasta was extremely dry and underwhelming and my husband s steak was mediocre at best. We also felt like we were being pushed out and constantly asking if they can take items from our table. By the end of our dinner we were extremely annoyed and just wanted to get out of there. You definitely do not get what you pay for here. Will not go back.
Great experience. They went out of their way to accommodate our preferences without having to ask. The hostess team was lovely, very appreciated.
Great French onion soup :)
Cut to the chase- food is GREAT and service is just NOT The food here is great! Menu wise they have a great selection, tried 3 of the tartares ( salmon/ scallop/ beef) all were great! The duck breast was AMAZING. And then we had the special- seafood uni pasta which was great! Wine and cocktails good as well. They have a nice patio to enjoy the weather. The only thing is . SERVICE IS HORRIBLE. It might be just because they have just recently opened, but everything was extremely slow and disorganized.. was a group of 4 people but only two water glasses got filled. Had to flag down people to order drinks after 30 minutes. Once order was in it was quick. But then again, when it was time to pay it was impossible to get attention. It was almost as if every waiter avoided eye contact and the table. Been there twice now, and both times the service was not there
Beautiful french restaurant, giving vibes of southern france. Got a chance to try the duck breast & the beef tartare suggested by our server. Loved them both, will come back to check out the speak easy. Also would like to mention our server Nanu for his great service. Food : 5/5 |
Great interior design. Pot Pie was really good! Food
The restaurant is beautifully decorated, food is good. But really need to improve the service.
10/10 brunch! We got the waffles and crepes and both were delicious. I was excited to get the croissant but they were sold out. Service was good. Staff were friendly and attentive. Beautiful restaurant with Parisian vibes
Been hearing a lot about this restaurant and got to try it today for dinner. The place was extremely noisy when I went and you had to really raise your voice to hear your company and even to interact with the staff, which was unexpected in a negative way. Had an impression of this place as being more refined. Our server took a while to acknowledge us, and even interacted with the tables immediately adjacent to us but chose to ignore us until maybe about 10 minutes in that we were seated. Getting our orders taken or even water also took longer - again, interacting multiple times with the tables immediately adjacent us but choosing not to interact with us for whatever reason. It really is a turn off and creates such a negative impression of a restaurant to be made to feel like you re not welcome there or that your presence is not valued. The sweetbreads were fine. Would ve been nice if they had more of a textural contrast and a creamy sauce to go with it. The duck breast was cooked well, and I liked the celeriac puree. The brown sauce had a good depth of flavour as well. I think the place has a lot of potential, but my experience here was pretty tarnished by the service and don t really feel like coming back knowing all the options we have in this city for restaurants.
There are better French restaurants out there. I had the chicken (was it sous vide?) and my daughter had the vongole. The clams were rubbery and looked like they were under a heat lamp for awhile. No broth. Not flavourful. Pasta was dry. I would say it was a miss. My chicken was too salty. The service was ok but after dinner it simply fell off the map. People who arrived after us were enjoying dessert while we just sat there. Cute room though.
I came here with two others on a Sunday morning for brunch. It was a rainy day in early June. There seemed to be plenty of availability to get a table instantly. As I ve noted before, I almost always do not care for brunch and this meal was the perfect representation of everything I dislike about it. I ordered the omelette that had greyer cheese spread across the top. The dish was gross to look at and eat. In addition, the omelette was TWENTY FIVE dollars. I never could have imagined I d be so disappointed in an omelette. The restaurant has two floors and access to the second floor is provided through an incredibly slow elevator. The service was the only acceptable part of this experience. Maybe a meal here is enjoyable another time besides brunch, but I wouldn t waste my money to found out. I would not recommend, and I would not go back. Vegetarian options: Clearly labeled vegetarian options. Dietary restrictions: Clearly labeled gluten free menu items.
Great hangout place with friends. Food and drinks were delicious!! Highly recommend duck breast, branzino and Paris-Brest dessert. The only suggestion I would make is busy time seems not enough server around. It took a long time to finish our dinner.
Classic French style food with a nice atmosphere. Pays homage to the was things were done. French onion soup is amazing, tartar could use come help, avocado toast great dont be fooled by the naming. On the pricy side, great service.
One of the worst dining experiences of my life. Incredibly slow and rude staff, it took 20 mins to get water, and 40 to get a glass of wine. They brought my main dish out 30 minutes before my wifes. I was completely done my food before hers arrived.
Came here with some girlfriends and service started out ok but declined as the evening went on. While still eating my appetizer (as was someone else), they started bringing mains. So I felt like I had to rush and finish since the tables arent that big. My friend had stale bread and chips come with her tartare and it took awhile for our server to pop up. I think she had to waive down someone who wasnt even our server. Our mains were just ok - I ordered the over-priced omelette where I could barely taste the truffle, my friends ordered the chicken and the pork special. Waitress didnt really check in on us after mains were done, which is odd because youd think they would try to get you to order more drinks? Anyways, I ordered the chocolate dessert and it wasnt great. The olive oil in it wasnt a flavor I personally prefer in a dessert. When we paid our bills and left, we walked past a manager, a staff member and 2 hostesses on our way out and no one said goodbye, thank you, nothing. For a French restaurant, they sure do not follow French service. Dont think Ill be coming back.
Lovely service and food! Our waiter was an older gentleman, was super friendly and fun to talk to while we ordered. We started with drinks and appetizers. The eau de vie was really refreshing, and I had a zero proof blueberry and mint drink that was a really nice accompaniment. French onion soup was definitely a favourite, super cheesy and savoury. Can never go wrong with half off oysters (and drinks), and they came with lots of options to pair with like lemon, a red wine sauce, tabasco and horseradish. We then ordered the 7oz tenderloin and the Hudson Valley duck breast. The steak was a little unevenly cooked, however it was still very tender and delicious. The waiter was very apologetic when he noticed, and wanted to make things right, but we didnt mind at all. The duck breast was delicious, a nice break from steak. I loved the fried garlic slices sprinkled on top. Finished with a raspberry sorbet. Its not written on the menu, but thankfully the waiter filled us in on the other options available to try. They really pack their raspberrkes into the sorbet, it was so rich and fruity. Really nice way to end off the meal Minor critique, we noticed crumbs were leftover on the seat from a prior customer and couldve used a quick wipe Otherwise I had a lovely experience and would definitely come back!
Nothing special for the food we ordered. Croque made crèpe, you can t taste the crèpe so thin. Burger patty was bland. Steak so-so. Beef Tartare was ok. Drinks were just fine.
Went during their happy hour. Service was a struggle, waited extra-long times for orders to arrive and had to check in with the waitstaff more than once. Drinks were fine, one of them was pretty watery, though. Oysters were probaly the highlight.
My family and I had a fantastic time at La Plume for Sunday brunch. We chose the Salmon and it was amazing, the service was fantastic and our waiter was very caring. We highly recommend La Plume for their amazing and quality food, ambiance, and service. Will definitely return.
Arrived with my fam for Sunday brunch, delighted to find the place bustling with activity. The enticing array of cocktails and delicious food surpassed our expectations. Nanu guided us well through the menu. This spot is a haven for French cuisine enthusiasts.
If you haven t been here yet, you need to. Food and service is amazing! The space is beautiful and so bright. The speak easy is one of the most incredible spaces I have ever seen. Highly recommend La Plume!
What a cute chic new french restaurant at The Well! Love the patio that gets direct sun late into the afternoon! Some of the best service Ive had in a while too! We tried the french onion soup, scallop tartare with frites, caesar salad, and trout main dish. The soup was incredible and very cheesy! Scallop tartare was excellent, so flavourful and wonderful accompaniments. Caesar salad was not your basic caesar, probably the best ive ever had! The only thing we found disappointing was the trout - it was perfectly cooked but completely bland. Our mocktails were phenomenal, its hard to find a great tasting non alch drink worth the price and this definitely was! Will definitely be back to try more of the menu!
Very good food and drink. Very good Service, as well. Would definitely go back. Rotisserie chicken was the star. 4 stars vs 5 is really just a value question for me. At $95 per person, you get a little too expensive, and doesnt deliver on value for money category for me.
Overpriced, small portions, horrible service. Nice atmosphere, but resembles an overpriced and underwhelming tourist trap.
I saw that they have French onion soup so I had to go try it out. This restaurant has a very cute French vibe. I would imagine itll be a great place to have drinks at night. They had beef tartar on the menu so I couldnt resist ordering that as well. Their French onion soup was made with chicken and beef broth that they make from scratch in house and the onions are caramelized for hours. I didnt particularly love the cheese that they chose but overall, the flavors were pretty great. The beef tartar was rich and creamy and love that they gave me an assortment of chips to eat with it. Would definitely come back to try the rest of the menu.
The French Onion Soup and French Onion Burger are both delicious.
3.5/5 Cute interior. Reminds me of a restaurant in Paris. Spacious and patio is also great. Good wine selections and cocktails were tasty. Nice glassware. Appetizers were good. Venison, beef, scallops, sweetbread were all good. Especially the venison and sweetbread. Mains were okay compared to the appetizers. Not impressive, not bad either. Service was not good at all. They were very understaffed. Our wine glasses were empty most of the time because the waitress was occupied serving other tables. It took over an hour for appetizers to be served and waited over 20mins for crème brûlée. They were too busy. I got mussels as main and asked to pack the leftover to go. Never got my mussels back. One of the delivery guys (brining food out to table) had very strong body odour. This is not pleasant when dining at a restaurant. Overall, good appetizers and ambience but service can be improved much. Maybe I ll go back for a drink but not a whole meal.
Decided to come here as we had the O&B insider discount (when they first opened in April). A modern french restaurant with the interior really brings you to France. Service was good but sometimes wasn t consistent. Some servers introduced the meal to us and some did not. French onion soup- 6/10 Very heavy and salty. It was good, the taste was very deep and you can tell it s been cooking for a long time (3 days according to our server) for the taste to be this rich, but it was very overwhelming by the end of the bowl. Beef cheek papadelle- 6/10 The flavour was good, the beef cheek was very tender. The pasta however, was more warm-cool than hot, which I didn t like too much. The olives were a weird addition to the dish. Underwhelming in my opinion. Ocean Trout- 7/10 The trout was well cooked, crispy but not dry. The risotto was a fresh addition to the dish. Pomme purée- 9/10 Very well mashed, very buttery Overall it was a good experience, but I m not sure if I would come back.
Food was good overall, but incredibly irritated and rude managers inside. Also very dirty and stinky toilettes. Not worth the price.
Nice ambiance . Taste of food was fantastic
you can t beat their patio happy hours - half priced drinks and oysters. cocktails were tasty and the oysters so fresh! their patio was very busy so a bit chaotic amongst the staff (understandably so since they opened not long ago) but the positive attitude from the manager and every staff members made up for their shortcomings. we ordered a bottle of wine (reasonably priced) and steaks for dinner and everything was great!
Amazing dining experience and my friend s birthday felt really special. Thank you!
Me and my wife had heard alot about this new spot at the well and we were excited to check it out. It really lived up to our expectations. They have some exciting selections in the dinner menu. We tried the French onion soup and it was fantastic. For our mains we had the rotiserrie chicken with potato wedges and it was simple but amazing. We would like to come back for brunch next. Thank you for your service nanu.
Great for upscale cocktails, but not a lot of options for regular appetizers
This place is way overhyped. The food was mid at best the French onion soup which was apparently cooked for 3 days was WAY overcooked it was extremely salty and tasted burnt. When I go to many French places I always try the French onion soup to see this place is legit but unfortunately this place was a huge disappointment. Our server was somewhat attentive but food and drinks took way too long to arrive. The interior was cute but the price doesn t match the food quality to be honest.
The place is cozy and very well designed. The mushroom tartare was good but I was given only two pieces of bread with that which was not enough... The fries were really great though, so was the Blueberry fizz cocktail. The variety of plant-based dishes is extremely small and basically just means mushrooms or leafy greens. Even the onion soup is made with beef stock. Please add more food diversity - this is 2024. Its better for your customers and the planet anyways. You can do that without compromising the taste as all modern restaurants do...
