Excellent overall. Surprised this place has a 4.4 star, it should be 4.7-4.9 easily. Seems like this place is new. Their sandwiches are so interesting and so good. Full pistachios in the pistachio sauce. Bougie quick lunch, prime fast food. Heavy on the cold cuts but also a celebration of veggies, which I need. 5/5
Follow @bredgyeats for more food photos! After eating La Morta, I can probably die happy now. The focaccia bread is something that you'd catch me snacking on at midnight, brimming with the fruity aromas of olive oil and a cracker-like crisp on the outside that's contrasted with a soft interior. It's then slathered with a generous amount of pesto, stacked high with mortadella and some fresh mozzarella to tone down the salty bite of the meat and add a touch of creaminess. It took a while until I finally found the perfect egg salad sandwich, aptly named after the konbini that popularized it in Japan. It's the perfect compliment to the crispy foccacia of La Morta as three slices of pillowy soft Pullman loaf, which sandwich between two layers of egg salad made with kewpie mayo. Finally, it's garnished with a glamorous layer of togarashi and green onions.
This spot offers an impressive lineup of hearty sandwiches, with each bite showcasing layers of flavor and unique textures.
First time here… I had the grain salad and my friend had a morning sandwich! Really enjoyed both! I would love to give a 5star but I felt the salad could have been topped up a bit more the dressing was 1/2 the size of the container…
Vibe was immaculate. Bread was fresh and the sando of sound construction. Chips were crispy AF. Service was 10/10. My only gripe is the lack of balance with the sando. Muffulettas are inherently meaty but this needed something beyond the classic olive salad.
great vibe and delicious sandwich. the generous dressings in the sandwich, especially the pistachio, really took it to the next level. The price is fair given the quality and how filling the sandwich is. I would recommend trying out shop out of you are in the area and craving a sandwich.
We came here around 2 on a Saturday and the sandwiches we really wanted were sold out! We tried the good morning breakfast one and the cure (the salmon one). The Japanese milk bun on the good morning makes against the hash brown inside gives you the perfect squish and crunch. It’s also warm due to the contents inside which I enjoyed. The salmon sandwich was a cold sandwich with a delicious dill sauce and packed with salmon. I would’ve preferred if the bread was warmed before the sandwich was assembled but overall still hit the spot. The star of the show were the chips. The peanut butter vanilla sounds kinda whack for chips but holy smokes are they good. I got another bag to bring home.
New samdwich shop in the east end of Toronto with so many great options. We tried the Japanese egg salad and the la Morta both were amazing. I went at lunch and while busy the lines moved quickly and there was room in the restaurant to dine in. Street parking can be found
Delicious sandwiches. Fresh ingredients and good portion. A bit on the pricy side for a sandwich
The best sandwich of your life!
Great Sandwiches and Service!
Ridiculously good sandwiches - La Boeuf is perfect.
Best sandwiches I ve ever had! They are big, high quality ingredients, and cleverly concocted. It s not what I normally expect in a sandwich, and turns out I love it!
Bomb sandwich s - highly recommend
Over priced mediocre sandwiches. Went once and didnt like it despite wanting to like it. Went again but wont go a third time. The sandwiches are just really mediocre, and might even be approaching bad given the less than fresh bun both times. If they were $8-10 it would be a decent quick neighborhood spot. Approaching $20 is insane for what they are. Anyone who thinks this place is good is seriously deprived.
Awesome sandwiches. Love to go there often.
Nice vibes and delicious sandwiches with chips! Highly recommend.
We tried the limited special turkey and stuffing sandwich and it was amazing!! Loved the classic mortadella as well :)
My go to spot for breakfast and lunch. High quality product and great selection !
Soooo amazing! Love this place
Amazing quality very good!
One of the tastiest sandwiches I ve had in a long time. Will definitely be back the food and service was impeccable!
Worth the price for a sandwich. Well made, with several ways to finish (heated, pressed or as is)...
Beef sandwich is fire Cant wait to try the special sandwiches on the weekend
I came here on my boyfriend s recommendation and it is definitely a hidden gem We tried la boeuf and the good mornin veggie, they were amazing!! Highly recommend this spot for a great sandwich experience in the city
Great Variation in sandwiches, Amazing staff and fantastic owners providing exceptional service. Highly recommended!
Best mortadell in the city, reminded me of Italy
Just like how my ma makes, excellent
I recently visited Leslie s sandwiches and was genuinely impressed! From the moment I walked in, the staff was welcoming and attentive, creating a warm and friendly atmosphere. The menu has a fantastic variety, with something for every craving. I ordered the mortadella sandwich and it was absolutely delicious fresh ingredients, perfect bread, and the flavors were well-balanced. Can t wait to go back!!!
The La Morta sandwich was incredible, 10/10 for sure!
Unfortunately, I didn t get to eat the sandwiches right away, and only got to try them after they ve been refrigerated. Still, they were excellent. Wouldn t recommend the Ahi Supreme sandwich, though.
Can t stop thinking about the La Boeuf .
I recently visited Leslie s Sandwich Room with a friend, and it was such a great experience! I had the La Morta sandwich, and wow, it blew me away. The focaccia was soft yet perfectly toasted, and the mozzarella was super fresh and creamy. There were some other ingredients in there that came together so well I think the pesto with the pistachio ? Just the right balance of savory and fresh, and the flavors really popped. The vibe of the place was super chill, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. Its one of those places where you can just tell they really care about their food. We both left totally satisfied and already talking about when we can come back. If youre in the area and looking for a seriously tasty sandwich, Leslie s is a must-try!
$24 with tax and tip for a bland, pre-made, stale sandwich.
Cute place. Nice atmosphere and clean. Sandwiches were great. Good flavour and portion. The sandwich was 2 meals for me. No complaints. Would visit again.
So I finally tried the sandwiches and they were good, but $40 for 2 egg sandwiches is just a tad extreme. The egg salad sammy was average and the green eggs and ham was delicious but the one thing that elevated both was how soft and fresh the bread and bun were. I am curious about the breakfast sandwiches only served on weekends, but maybe not at these prices. Well see.
Hidden gem!
Great variety of sandwiches. Fresh ingredients. Very tasty definitely going back to try other sandwiches. Keep up the good work.
Sandwich was fresh with bread made in house daily. Sandwich was great had the mortadella. Definitely coming back to try others on menu.
Tried two sandwiches, loved em both.
Came here on a saturday (today) to get a couple breakfast sandwiches we ve been hearing about. Really disappointed to receive them stone cold. We live around the corner, so I brought them back to our place and we had to deconstruct them to heat up all the ingredients separately in the air fryer to avoid the bread from burning. It ended up ruining the integrity of the sandwich. If they re not served warmed up to-go, they should at least offer that option to you when you order. To pay $20 each after tip for these - I d expect them to be warmed up or as mentioned before - at least offered to be warmed up.
Great sandwiches- well made from scratch including the focaccia bread buns. Well done !!
Very friendly owner. Give it a try.
Never been here but seen them on youtube. The nicest guy I have ever seen. Very inviting. If I goto Toronto, Canada I would eat there.
Great vibe and feel but unfortunately very poor quality food for the price point. Stale sandwiches and Kraft singles as the house cheese? Repackaged store bought kettle chips? Funds would be better allocated to fresh food and quality rather than just the nice marketing and snazzy names for the gram you can make the same sandwiches at a local convenience store.
Classic sandwich joint with interesting and uniques sandwiches. The only thing is that the price is high, not something I can do regularly! But great taste.
Just saw a video of the owner coming out and speaking to people recording in the street on youtube. Loved how polite and decent he was to members of the public. I decided to go try them out. Fantastic food, great service. Highly recommend
Last time I checked, we still use legal tender in this country. Leslie doesnt take cash. Must be wonderful to be able to turn down customers if they wish to pay with cash. You biz must be booming!!! Selling 20 dollar hoagies, Good for you Service : 1/5
Unimpressive. Bread is too thick and dry, filling is underwhelming. Prices are too high. Go a few blocks east to Lambos for a good sandwich! Food
Sandwiches are very generously portioned, unique flavours and fresh. the chips are also delicious.
My friend and myself came here for a late lunch. They didnt have a lot left but what was available was amazing. They had the steak and I had the smoked salmon. The house made kettle chips were also prime. Definitely coming back.
One of the best sandwiches I have had in a very very long time. I had The Cure (salmon), and my wife had the La Morta (mortadella). Both equally amazing!!
Delicious food, but overpriced for pre-made sandwiches. Vegetarian options: A few salads and a single vegan sandwich. Food : 5/5 |
Very disappointing and overpriced sandwich in my opinion. I wouldnt call a sandwich The Cure, list its ingredients as salmon, then fill it with salmon salad from canned salmon. What a misleading and undelivering deception. Also, just walk around and wipe your tables once in a while. Thats not my job before I sit down to dine...
The sandwiches are amazing the staffs, incredible and super helpful will be coming back again and don t forget the chips!
Ordered this for the boys, 5 sandwiches for 5 guys did the trick. Very tasty huge sandwich s. I would recommend this to all! Support local it s a good business and way better quality/service then chain buinessses.
FYI their sandwiches are 2$ more on delivery apps. Good atmosphere, but I have a hard time justifying $18 price tag for how much protein is on their sandwiches. Lambo/good behavior is cheaper, and puts a lot more meat.
Delicious.
Hm: I ve had to update. We went today and they served us pre-made sandwiches out of the case. It s not that they weren t good, but I m not going to pay $17 before tax before something that isn t made fresh. So which is it? Why did we one day we got them made fresh and then today not? Is it the time of day? I m sorry but I will only come back for the freshly made sandwich. It makes a total difference to the temperature and texture of the ingredients. It takes a $17 sandwhich to a $10 one when you serve it cold out of the case. Original review: I would normally object to a $17 sandwich BUT these Sammies are something special- they are HuGE with incredible fresh ingredients served on fresh and soft focaccia very unique combinations of flavours, I couldn t even finish my sandwich so I consider it a full meal at great value! Will be back for sure!
Got Le Boeuf. Good sandwich, a bit bready, and $2 more than it should be ($18?!?). The sandwich is filling. A combo is $22, to add a can and bag of chips. Outrageous. Hope this sandwich fad dies soon, and prices come back down to earth. Worth a try I guess, but not returning.
Got a sandwich here along with food poisoning right after. Had the mortadella and mozzarella sandwich. Hugged my toilet all afternoon. Food : 1/5
20$ for sammis that are pre-made...Luke the whole sandwiches is cold including g the bread bc they pre make them all...yep sandwiches.... Very sad bc it literally takes 5 seconds to put prepped topping on a piece of bread. The sandwiches were alright, beef was ok, egg salad was dripping w mayo and oversalted. Wished focaccia wasnt cold for the other sandwich or was toasted. Waited for 20 mins with only one other client inside for premade sandwiches. After serving the 2 people ahead the person at the counter then went to do some paperwork at the cash while I stood there waiting (I kid you not!) Before then serving the only other person in the store...me...it was ridiculously poor service and very slow...for premade sammis...20.mins? What!? Seems workers have never worked in a kitchen before. :/ Seems they want to be on trend w a boutique sammy shop but when you look close you see that its all for show to up the prices. Ie. Only sodas are coke and gingerale, no sparkling waters or local sodas or drinks. Condiments for tea are cheap processed billy bear honey. Really bummed as we were excited for this place. Hope theyre able to fix some of the issues.
Pricey for premade sandwiches. They wouldnt or couldnt take any toppings off as a result. Bun was as cold as the toppings inside as everything was sitting premade in the fridge. I would have enjoyed the mortadella sandwich more if the bun wasnt refrigerated. They also dont know how to make grilled cheese sandwiches as the cheese wasnt melted. Service was also slow considering there was only one person ahead of me and nobody else was there.
Good but too expensive for what you get
Great neighbourhood spot with excellent sandwiches. Customer service is top notch and very friendly. Weve tried La Boeuf, La Morta, and & 7 e 11 -- all were delicious! Vegetarian options: multiple veggie options available
We were one of their first customers, and became instant fans! The ingredients are all super high quality. The flavour combinations are unique. So far, La Morta and Nola are our favs, but I really want to try the tuna . Great addition to the hood!
The sandwiches are a caricature way too big to eat like a normal sandwich, unless you are a snake. The sandwiches are also pre-made (like a gas station). If you want a good sandwich in the neighbourhood, try Lambo s or Good Behaviour instead.
PHENOMENAL. The La Bouf and egg sandwich are so good we drove from Mississauga for it today. Chips are on point. Try the peanut vanilla ones. Service amazing. The atmosphere is perfect for a sandwich shop and a great color scheme. Kid-friendliness: Kid friendly Wheelchair accessibility: Accessable
Fresh and delicious! I especially love the tuna sandwich. So happy they re in Leslieville
Great sandwiches, tried the mortadella sandwich with mozzarella and pesto, would definitely recommend.
I can never eat another sandwich anywhere again. 10/10
Deedee is an amazing hostess/employee. Very accommodating and deserves a promotion :) Sandwiches were also amazing ofcourse!
Came here for the first time on the weekend! It was a pretty busy spot but service was quick and staff were very friendly. Doesn t offer a ton of seating but we were lucky enough to get a table! Both got the La Morta sandwich. We ordered the combo which came with a drink and house made kettle chips. Sandwiches are made fresh and served cut in half, every ingredient complimented each other - even bread was super flavourful. Would definitely come back!
Food, service and vibe all exceeded my expectations! I got the egg salad, my friend got the salmon one and both were amazing. The softness of the bread was wow, the creaminess all balanced out so well. Service is also worth noting, the lady at cash was very informative, welcoming and gave us cool tidbits on how the history behind the flavors of the chips. I was initially skeptical about the bread texture but the focaccia bread exceeded my expectations
Wow! The quality of the bread and ingredients has to one of the highest I ve ever enjoyed. I can t wait to go back!
Really good. Bread was delicious and perfect for the mortadella sandwich. I can t wait to try the green eggs and ham!!
The salmon one is so delicious! Not only they have very nice seasoned fresh salmon but also the bread! How come their bread is this crispy and aromatic?! I would definitely try the tuna sandwich next time!
Leslie s Sandwich Room is a great high-end/ chef-inspired sandwich option in Leslieville. I ve had a few different sandwiches from them thus far (The Mortadella & The Prosciutto and Brie) along with two different flavours of their house made chips (don t sleep on the banana ones)! All of it has been delicious, the staff were very friendly, and there has clearly been a lot of effort put into developing these recipes. My only complaint is the pricing, alongside the packaging which feels a bit over the top (albeit very nice). Right now Leslie s feels like something I ll grab for lunch once in a while, when I m getting tired my other favourite Leslieville Deli s/Sandwich options vs. a weekly ritual. If things were a few dollars cheaper (I m sure the packaging is a few dollars on its own), then it would be more in line with the competition! Either way, great sandwiches and awesome people working there.
If I could give this place a 0 star I would I asked to take a topping off and they said they couldn t do it also we had to eat outside of the place because there was no seating inside for us. I thought my sandwich would be warmed up and it was cold 0/5
We had the green eggs and ham sandwich and the roast beef. They were delicious. I am picky. As in, I pick the stuff off I dont like. So the sandwiches are pre-assembled. There were toppings on both that I wasnt sure Id like. But I went with it and enjoyed every bite. Its pricey. But food prices are ridiculous and everything is made in house. Including the tasty tasty bread and the sea salt n vinegar chips(yummy). To me, its worth the money and treat myself. Attentive service at the front counter and this may sound like a small thing but they were generous with napkins and there were more for the taking on the counter. We ate inside. I liked the minimal decor and the music playing was too loud. Definitely will be back
Very tasty sandwiches here! The bread is fantastic and the sandwiches Ive tried are delicious (7-E-11 and one with mortadella). Must try if youre in Leslieville!
Polite staff, fast service and incredible sandwiches. The la morta is my new favourite sandwich in the city.
really loved the tuna sandwich. definitely coming back
Sandwich not so new. Sandwich breads are kinda unhealthy including Wonder bread as they mentioned in the menu. Not worthy for the hype to be honest.
One of the better sandwich shops in the east side
oh my gosh. The sandwiches are 10/10! I had the actually tuna - essentially imagine Tuna Poke in between two slices of THICK focaccia bread. It is truly to die for. the atmosphere is pretty cute - nice vibes for catching up with friends and working. Service was quick considering how many customers were there! I only wish I got to try the other sandwiches as well. its a popular spot and I completely understand why.
The service was knowledgeable and friendly. I m not super into fish and wanted to try the Nola sandwich but the cashier assured me the white anchovy wouldn t taste fishy but just add to the flavour. She was right! One of the best sandwiches I ve had in a while! Loaded up with sliced meats and the olive salad was sooooo good. I ll be back to try some of the other ones. Edit: I asked if they had a espresso machine and they didn t but said I could bring one in from the cafe next door which was a nice touch.
So good. So so good.
Ive been here twice now and will be back again. Sandwiches were great. I got la morta and the cali and both were good. The chips were great as well. Good quality and tasted great. My only caveat was that they were premade and stored in a cooler display so all of the sandwiches were served ice cold. It was okay and still tasted great but would love to see some a warm, toasted or panini style version of their sandwiches so there could be toasted bread and melted cheese.
Gargantuan sandwiches and delicious (made in-house?) chips. The 7E11 is easily big enough for two. Will be back for more!
I had the Nova sandwich . Tasty, but I thought there was too much bread. My friend had the beef sandwich. It was overwhelming
Nice place, had the beef sandwich. Very filling but it s not warmed up. All sandwiches are served cold which I didn t expect.
This sandwich shop is a hidden gem! The menu offers a variety of delicious options, each bursting with flavor. I tried the tuna tartare , and it was a delightful choice. The tuna was perfectly seasoned and mixed with just the right amount of mayo, creating a creamy and flavorful filling. The portion sizes were generous, making it a satisfying meal. Im looking forward to trying more of their offerings!
Over hyped and over priced. Sandwiches were fine. Tasty and large. However they were not made fresh. Pre made and pulled from refrigerator who wants a cold sandwich? Tim Hortons can make a sandwich in front of you, how hard can it be? Bun was cold, tough and chewy. With mediocre over packaged chips and a pop almost $25!!! With tax and tip, close to $50 for two. WOW. 3pm, not busy, sold out of tuna and ham, really? Tables not wiped. Upscale cafeteria vibe. Sorry Leslie.
Respectable size for the price. The wife love the mortadella I love the beef, everybody s happy.
Elevated sandwich menu with quality ingredients. A must try in Leslieville.
Great sandwiches. Pricey. Try the egg salad!
Really enjoyed these sandwiches and will absolutely be returning to try the other options! Tried the Actually Tuna and La Boeuf . Both had a generous portion of the tuna/beef. Sandwiches were pre-made so didn t need to wait long. Loved the sharp cheddar and horseradish on the roast beef sandwich - was a great combo! The focaccia was really good but the bottom was just a touch more oily than my preference - certainly not a deal breaker though! Added chips and a drink to one of the sandwiches to make it a combo for $21. Was a pretty filling lunch! They also have a bathroom on the main floor. All in all, great food and all the other sandwiches looked delicious and will be returning to try them soon!
It was delicious. The amount of meat packed into a sandwich was perfect. The bread matched it all so well and was baked to perfection. Then the salad. I had a side grain salad and i was shocked on how good it was it had a sauce that melded so well with the cheese i want to come back and get more soon. Back to the cheese however the sandwhich had an aged sharp cheddar that rounded out the sandwich so well that i wanna get a wheel of it
I m a garbage man by trade so I tend to eat all over the city trying to support local businesses. This sandwich shop is by far the best sandwich shop I ve ever eaten at by leaps and bounds. Absolutely worth every penny paid. Strongly recommend anyone reading this to pay them a visit !
The food was so tasty and filling!! I loved their cookies as well!! You can tell a lot of effort and love goes into what is made there!! The atmosphere is beautiful as well, I will definitely be back! :)
The La Boeuf Sandwhich is a must try! Great chips too!
Delicious sandwiches, fresh bread, quality ingredients
Only one word to describe this place. WOW!
The 7 E 11 sandwich was tasty. The togarashi was an interesting touch. Ill def be back to try more of the menu items.
Wanted to try this local sandwich place out after hearing about the menu. All sandwiches came in a plastic basket lined with paper, similar to a fries or hotdog place. Tried the 7 E 11 sandwich which I later realized was emulation of Japans famous 7/11 egg salad sandwiches. The bread was fluffy and white, with no crust filled with a balanced egg with mayonnaise mixture. One end was covered in green onions, the other end had togarashi which is a Japanese chili like spice. Wouldve wanted a dip? Perhaps spicy mustard to offset the mayo and egg but delicious otherwise. $15 for a double stacked sandwich. My food mate had Cali which is the prosciutto and with triple cream brie and fig on croissant. Food mate states the sandwich is the bomb. Tasty sweet fig with creamy brie that offsets the salty cured meat. Croissant was fluffy and soft. Meals include housemade chips and a pop. We tried the peanut butter vanilla potato chips. Vanilla was more prominent than peanut butter on these chips. Id suggest more salt on the potato chips to accentuate the sweet vanilla flavour. Cost of combo $25. Service was prompt and patient, received food in less than 5 mins. Seating is similar to a French bistro accented by a vine ceiling giving a pleasant outdoor feeling. Overall, medium price for gourmet sandwiches, will come back for a good sandwich. Feedback: Have a place to pour your own water or a tap for those who arent pop or juice drinkers or coffee is always appreciated. But, Pilot coffee is next door. Really Id say 4.5*
