Hard bop jazz fills the air as you lean onto a table dressed with a freshly pressed white linen while sipping on your horseradish martini. The scent of aged beef grilled in the overfired broiler like it’s 1959 entrances you as it’s placed onto your table alongside a plate of chanterelle blintzes, fries, and a karnatzel. You watch enviously as the pastrami is pulled from the smoker before being hand cut and served to the table next to you simply with mustard and some pickles. The night ends with a piece of warm babka, glass of wine and a reminder of what life was like when cars were made by hand, jell-o cakes were in vogue and rotary phones were the gold standard.
Challah service, chicken liver toast, and pastrami were amazing!!! Steak was inedible (no one at the table had more than a bite and they saw but said and did nothing about it), smelled foul, and a few of the dishes were over salty. Was really hyped and excited for this restaurant but disappointed after our group dinner (we had a set menu they prepared for us). Beautiful inside and the kitchen view is great.
The food was delicious, and the interior and theme was beautiful and vibrant. My most favourite would have to be the restrooms that take you back in time. Loved the vintage inspired radio playing jazz music. Service was good, not the most friendly. Polite and reserved. The bread, pastrami and chicken liver toast was quite tasty. I loved the anchovy zucchini dish. Would recommend Linnys.
The restaurant has such a welcoming atmosphere, and the staff were incredibly attentive and friendly—top-notch service! While the food presentation was great, there’s a bit of room to refine the flavors. I’m looking forward to seeing how they grow; the potential is definitely there!
Wonderful dinner at Linny’s! The sliced pastrami is a must order but I don’t think you can go wrong with anything. All the food we had was delicious. The drinks were also very good. It’s a bit noisy in the place but that’s just the type of people who go there. Overall, very good and highly recommended. We’ll be back!!
This place is just incredible. The second I walked in I immediately felt like I wasn’t in toronto anymore, what a unique experience! We got cocktails, wine, and the $125pp menu to try 10 items over 4 courses. It was spectacular and worth the cost. The fennel and fluke, mini challah, caesar salad, and pastrami were some standouts, but everything was phenomenal. Couldn’t forget the babka either, what a great finish. Will definitely be back- thank you Linnys!
Incredible experience at Linny’s! Hands down my favourite meal this year. The food was all so delicious it was hard to pick my favourite dishes but they include: fluke and fennel crudo sea bass with dill sauce kasha and bows (with the truffle add on) shake and bake chicken zucchini with anchovies bone in tenderloin The quality of the ingredients shines and the preparation of each dish was an innovative take on a classic. Highly recommend doing the chefs tasting. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable and warm. The service style is refined but unpretentious. The ambiance and decor is upscale but feels nostalgic and comfortable. Overall immaculate vibes and insanely good food!
Night 2 of this place being open. Just walked in and sat at the bar for dinner. Had the Friday Night Chef’s menu….. a great selection of what’s on the menu was given. Nothing was a miss. Service was great. Cocktails amazing The pricing was great for what we received. It’s not inexpensive but there was value in it. The decor was truly classic throwback that put a smile on your face with several moments of IYKYK. Honestly, thanks for bringing this place to our neighbourhood. A very welcomed addition!
Staff: so thoughtful and focused on providing the best dining experience possible. They lean in and step back where appropriate, making for an engaging dining experience while also respecting the intimacy of sharing a meal. The uniforms add a special sense of elegance. Food: The steak, as you can imagine, was phenomenal (tender, perfectly cooked, cuts like butter, flavorful). The fluke and fennel was my favourite dish (great fish, excellent balance of acidity). Drinks: excellently crafted cocktails. Super balanced with interesting yet subtle flavors; the house martinis were excellent. Vibe: reminds me of an upscale NYC steakhouse, but without the franticness. Considering all factors, this is easily in the top 5 steakhouses I’ve ever been to
Without question my favourite meal of 2024. Upon entering, you are greeted with beautiful textures and warm atmosphere, a wall of recipes from the owners mother really sets the tone for this jewel of a space. This is a place that celebrates a love of hosting, and every element of the room is geared towards that goal. Simultaneously open and private, this feels like a place you can have an intimate conversation or a raucous birthday party and never ever feel claustrophobic. The lighting and seating is divinely comfortable, walls of burl wood and mirror lend themselves to an upscale feel while the benches upholstered in deliciously soft and retro mustard cord trigger your deep child-brain...youre at your grandparents house, youre 7 years old, theres about to be an amazing dinner and everything is right in the world. The service is next level. Kind, knowledgable, attentive. They are ever-present without being annoying. My glass was always full and my conversation never interrupted. The entire room operates like a dance, well-dressed handsome men bustling back and forth with swirling plates and bottles, fascinating to watch. However. Impressive as this is, look in my eyes when I tell you the food leaves it all behind. Light, perfect salmon on little potato pancake beds. Liver chopped for the gods on toast. Butters and cheeses and sauces balancing the sweet and salt and sour just so. Each dish is beautiful and elegant and somehow so comforting. It is clear, very very clear, that the people behind the glass wall in the kitchen know exactly what theyre doing. When you go (and I strongly recommend you do), show yourself an act of love and order the chocolate babka for dessert. Or even as an appetizer, Im not the boss of you. But rest assured, the next time I am lucky enough to be fed at Linnys, I will order two so I dont have to share.
Go for the Friday Special, no regrets.
Honestly was SOOO disappointed. I went with a couple of friends and we did the chefs tasting menu expecting to be WOW d but it was quite the opposite. Challah was mid, it s better at what a bagel. The prawns were absolutely foul, so much so that we sent them back, couldn t even believe that was served to us, the shrimp was mushy and it had a very fishy taste. The chicken liver toast was good but nothing to rave about. The salad was alright but SOAKED in dressing, I love a nicely dressed salad but this was over board. Pasta was sub-par al dente to the point it was still crunchy in the middle of the bow-tie. Zucchini/anchovies were edible. I ve had much tastier anchovy dishes. Pastrami was good, I don t usually eat pastrami so I can t compare to anything but it was tender for sure. The steak though.. damn. That was awful!!! It was so gamey and seemed unseasoned? Like something was missing or just OFF! First off, we ordered it medium rare, it came out blue rare like it looked like red tuna. Even when we asked to cook it more it still came back rare rather than medium rare and believe me we like our steak rare. Just truly disappointing I wouldn t go back. Fries were good though! Oh and the chocolate bun with ice cream at least filled me up..
Love this restaurant. Best new restaurant in the city in my humble opinion. Beautifully designed room with a really lovely vibe. Pastrami is 12/10. Food is delicious, really nicely aged steaks. Service was on point and professional. Very knowledgeable staff. Would highly recommend!
I ll make a reservation when the front desk girl stops eye rolling
One of the best dining experiences I have had in a long time. What a treat! The service and ambiance is unparalleled. Can t wait to go back.
We went to Linny s for dinner for the first time last night. The restaurant is beautiful. There were six of us so we ordered a number of dishes to try. The food was exceptional and the service was fantastic. We haven t been somewhere that was such a hit for everyone but this place was it. Highly recommend. The chicken liver and Challa were delicious and the pickles were a surprise hit. If they have the creamed spinach it s a must.
Quite possibly the most elevated dining experiences ve had in Toronto, and Ive been to most of the restaurants considered to be the best. The moment you walk in it is clear that this is something different - genuinely feels like from a different era. And of course the food - not a single thing we ordered wasnt a 10/10. Ive also been to Linnys high end deli contemporaries in Buenos Aires (Misheguene), CDMX (Mendl) and NY, and not only is this smoked meat better but the entire menu just hits differently. This is worth the splurge
Absolutely amazing food, service and atmosphere. One of the best restaurants in Toronto at the moment, in my opinion. Must get the pastrami.
Come for the salmon appetizer, pastrami, steaks and the babka and stay for the vibes, creativity, cocktails, and attention to detail. Other highlights - FRIES, shake and bake chicken, cabbage and mushroom sides, Caesar salad (so...everything we ordered). I cant wait to return and try the rest of the menu!
Run, don t walk. Even if it means taking a 530pm reservation, just do it. I cannot recall a dining experience this good in Toronto in ages. The atmosphere is cozy as comfortable, staff are friendly and knowledgeable and the food is spectacular. They offer a tasting menu on Fridays and it s worth every penny. Each dish was more standout than the next and there is not even remotely comparable in the city.
Vibey, thoughtfully designed space. Great food, smoked salmon is 10/10. Excited to go back and try more dishes!
Everything tasted delicious, the service was excellent. A wonderful establishment with exceptional staff
I would give more stars for service if I could - food was amazing and staff was very helpful and nice :)
Everything was excellent, but our server, Maor, made our night even better. Thank you for a great night!
Just finished dinner there and have to say it was asking a lot of us for a $330+ meal for two. We arrived 5 minutes late for our 5 pm reservation, and didnt have enough time to order dessert. When we finished our mains and our spot was cleared we were told we only had time for an aperitif before they needed the table. Really?!! We were told a few times that they needed to turn the table. Food wise, apps were tasty, liver pate on toast was delicious, smoked salmon with latke could have used more salt. We were told we needed to get the pastrami main, which we did. Issue was, the pastrami and the hanger steak 7oz ($48!!!) were served tepid. They were barely warmer than room temp. IMO, the Gibson martini ($26) was not worth it, too sweet would have preferred a classic. They did have a lovely cider from PEC on the menu that was delicious. All in all a solid 7 / 10, again, IMO, not worth the price.
Service was excellent, design choices were great. The atmosphere was impeccable... However I do have to say the food was a bit bland. I get what theyre trying to do and the styles that theyre going for, but Ive definitely had better tasting experiences elsewhere. Drinks were good though! Honestly once they fix that theyd probably be Michelin quality, but before they do, its kinda overpriced for what theyre serving.
Went here for a date night. Food was fantastic. Service was wonderful. Atmosphere was amazing. Cant wait to come back!
Toronto s best new spot. Linny s is home to incredible vibes, service, drinks, and food. Come with your friends and family, share a bunch of things you ll want it all. Our group of 5 enjoyed the challah service, salmon appetizer, house salad, porterhouse steak (we all agreed it was the best steak we ve ever had), pastrami, shake n bake chicken (holy moly, that was good), karnatzel, fries, broccoli, and the babka for dessert (out of this world). I found every dish to be of amazing value. The drink menu is comprehensive and impeccably curated with the best cocktail and wine selections. To top it off, I found it is one of the most hospitable restaurants I ve been to in the city. I can tell that Linny s standards are top tier across the board. I ll be back time and time again! Can t wait to bring more people here and create new memories around the table at Linny s.
Unreal experience. Pure NYC steakhouse class in terms of service, great atmosphere, and every side is worth it.
From the moment I came in, I was so welcomed at the door and had the most lovely time! The bartender Blake was an absolute legend. The fluke and fennel is easily the most refreshing and creatively complex presentation of fish I have had in a long time. I will also be back for that babka. Do yourself the service of visiting Linny s on Ossington and get one of everything
Where to even begin... Hands down the best dining experience Ive had in a long while! From the moment we were greeted, till we left, the whole experience was top-notch! Incredible food paired with phenomenal service. The concept is brilliant and unique with its deli-inspired steakhouse offerings, mixed with Eastern-European touches which was specifically dear to my heart. The beautiful decor and interior adds to the unique experience. I simply cannot speak highly enough of Linnys, congratulations to the whole team behind this astonishing restaurant!
All around fabulous. Food, vibes and service 10/10.
Chicken pate very uninteresting . Fluke and fennel bland and overpriced. Large $150 steak ok it you ll do better at Morton s or Ruth Chris. Pastrami excellent but overpriced. He s a marketing genius. I hate his other two restaurants. At least this one had a nice decor. We paid $200 pp with not a lot to drink.
Went there for a Saturday dinner. Let me tell you one the best atmospheres & martinis in the city. Amazing steak & unreal service, highly recommend
I recently dined at Linnys and it was an exceptional experience from start to finsh. The food was absolutely amazing, wiht flavours that were truly incredible and the presentation was outstanding. The staff was attentive and professional, and the ambiance created the perfect setting for a great evening. I loved all the little touches that represented the owners mom. Linnys has won me over and I will be booking it for upcoming company events.
Can t wait to come back! While there were numerous highlights, I implore everyone to get the pastrami and chicken liver toast.
Fantastic meal at linnys. Congratulations to chef david and the team for killing it again.
The beef pastrami and steaks here are amazing
A first and only of its kind. Perfect in every way. Congratulations chef and team :)
This place is a gift to the city.
Congrats on the opening David! Proud of you dear friend :)
Its not often that a restaurant which is only a few days old can feel like its been around forever. The service is warm and welcoming. The food is inventive, yet simple and delicious and the design is breathtaking. I cant wait to go back.
Loved this new spot! Food was delicious! Do not leave without the infamous apple cake... I dream about this. Definitely will return.
Had an incredible meal at Linnys last week - food, cocktails, service, design, ambiance all on point. Standout dishes were the chicken liver toast, giant tiger prawns & ribeye, as well as the ice cream made in house. Cocktails were knockout (we planned to order wine but were hooked after a round of Tarkuna Matatas). Server knew the menu inside and out, making recommendations perfect for our tastes and even sharing some of the chefs personal connections to the dishes. Hard to believe this spot is so young!
Amazing roasted lamb that was super tender with a side of pickled onion rings. The caramelized apple cake with sweet cream was also flavourful. Service was excellent and loved the decor and vibes at Linny s. Vegetarian options: Caesar salad, mushroom blini, cabbage, pickled onion rings, french fries
Linny s was lovely. The service was incredibly warm - thanks Moar (sp?) - and I was really surprised by how delicate the non-steak food was. Fluke & fennel crudo was fantastic - that fennel oil! - as was the chicken liver toast. Ribeye was cooked perfectly, and the cabbage side was great. Babka was to die for. Overall, a great addition to the Toronto restaurant scene, and a steakhouse for people who don t normally visit steakhouses.
10/10 An extraordinary restaurant. Linny s cares about food from their heart My palate, stomach and heart are pleased. Highly recommended. Challab- the bun was great. Just right texture with sesame seeds highlighted/add-on the aromatic. Jam and picklees, absolutely in love with them. I kept them till the end of meal. Lol Carser salad - simple and yummy! Having chicken skin instead of bacon is clever. Light and companion the steak well. NY steak - oh well, even my friend that doesnt have rawish food LOVE it. Then you know how good it tastes and how skilled their kitchen team is. Forget what my cocktail called, it comes with dill. Why everything is yummy there Yummy food, great service and a warm coziness interior. What else I can ask for
Incredible food and service.
Every dish was outstanding. 5 stars
Amazing cocktails (my favourite was dilly!!) and food. Challah, smoked salmon, kasha, steak & smoked meat were absolutely amazing. So excited to go back
A very special place brought to life by some very special people. Can t wait for my next visit!
Absolutely amazing. Everything from the food, to the service, to the ambience was top notch. My favourite menu items were the Porterhouse steak and the Linnys Cut Pastrami. The cocktails were very very good too! We cant wait to go back.
Had an excellent dinner there. From the food to the service top notch all around. Great stuff.
A great experience in a gorgeous space.
Linny s instantly became one of my favorite restaurants in Toronto. The atmosphere is simultaneously very refined and also cozy. Everything we got was delicious, but for me the highlights were the steak, pastrami, fries, cabbage, and babka. The porterhouse was probably the best steak I have ever had. The fries were idyllic. For dessert the babka was so delicious and big enough to share with 3 or 4 people after a filling meal. The portions were generous, shareable, and good value.
Rarely do I ever review restaurants especially new ones during their first month of opening. But from the service, to food, to ambience, this was one of the best dining experiences I ve had in toronto in years. Looking forward to many more fantastic dinners at Linny s, thank you to the team for the hospitality and welcome to the neighborhood!
Had a great dinner celebrating my husband s birthday! Highlights were the cured salmon and dry aged porter house. Our server was great. Can t wait to go back and sit at the bar!
Jay I think his name was, was very helpful. The food was out of this workd
Linny s Restaurant is an absolute gem that takes you back to the charm of old-world dining with its warm, inviting atmosphere and impeccable service. From the moment you sit down, youre welcomed with beautifully presented dishes that showcase not only creativity but also an obvious dedication to using the freshest ingredients. Every dish felt thoughtfully curated, with a beautiful balance between flavors and presentation. The freshness of the ingredients truly shone through in every course. The portions were generous but still elegant, and the attention to detail was remarkable. And lets not forget the dessert absolutely phenomenal! It was the perfect way to end such a memorable meal, rich yet perfectly balanced in sweetness, leaving us savoring every last bite. Linny s is the perfect spot if youre looking for an unforgettable dining experience that combines classic, old-world vibes with expertly crafted, delicious dishes. Highly recommended!
Celebrated a friend s birthday here. The atmosphere is great. Some of the best steak i ve had in the city!
Simply amazing. The service is fantastic and the food not only tastes so good a lot is prepped in house. David has made another masterpiece . Food
Chef D does it again.
