Mainsha Restaurant in Toronto

This restaurant needs to start accepting debit or credit as a form of payment and not only cash today I went to buy a medium meal. I handed the server $20. She asked me if I had two dollars which I did she gave me back $.50 waiting for her to give me the remainder of the my change looks at me confusing you re good to go. I said you still haven t given me the $10. She said I gave it to you already. I told her no you did not. You asked me for two dollars you checked underneath to see if you had any change you didn t so you went into your personal pouch and grabbed $10 and then you put the money underneath. She started looking at me suspiciously and then handed me the $10 me because you just lost a customer because I m not coming back here when you try to support your own people now I m being accused of stealing money. get a better cash system so you won t have to worry if you forgot to give your customers back there change or not.

Your cashier customer service is horrible...from me and my friend came in your store the black ugly gyal that look like bun up Dutch pot is grilling me with an attitude then seems to not wanna serve people ,like you see two females ordering but you want to only give service for one person, and no one did anything to her, from I enter the store that dark skin gyal watching me like I did her something...its a shame you people treat your own people like garbage I bet you give better service to white people..then that guy bout have to of course tou have to what if I was allergic to the damn gravy ,where I work I cant.bend up my face like that to customers , or im fired.. One thing atkeast the mam seemed a little better but will never go back to this hediot place...maybe if she was getting some dixk that would pit a smile on her face.. how black people suppose to support black business when they always giving eachother the worst look and service...with her bun up Dutch pot self. Amd the dread working at the front, you need customer service skills yourself. If many others are complaing about your customer service, then there us an issue. Soon no one will go there. Its a pity I didnt even take a picture of her and put it on social media cause you guys do not know how to deal with customers...I was going to cancel my order, its a shame I went here from Im in high-school and your food amd service is a times worst. Food sucks ,customer service sucks, that dark skin woman will let your business collapse. Why reply to the reviews and you know there wont be any changes. Just because its a Jamaican restaurant, it doesnt mean to run it like its in Jamaica, with dutty customer service. Only Jamaican people act horrible to each other...well I hope people see this review and dont go. This woman was not trying to serve me, she ask my friend what she wants on her food then assumes I want oxtail gravy, then I talked about it and her colleague the dread guy wasnt any better I can tell they do this on a regular no manners , and to say thats all the gravy you have , why not let the customer know that. Of ypu want horrible customer service amd shifty food then come to this location. They might even spit in the food when you are not looking too....I can only imagine the back of the store ...of they dont appreciate customers then they wont care to sell safe, and edible food. Imagine what goes on there....food probably drop on floor and that one picks it back up. Yea I came in wearing ripped jeans and denim out fit with the lil youth.. smh horrible customer service, horrible customer service

I came today for the lunch special and found a whole bee inside my food. I already took a few bites when I saw it. So disappointing but great price and wonderful service

Will never eat here again!! 11 infractions issued by Toronto health inspectors, one was crucial, five were significant and five were minor. The one crucial infraction was for failing to protect food from contamination. The five significant infractions included not removing garbage when necessary, not maintaining records of pest control measures taken, failing to keep sanitary facility sanitary, and handwashing stations not being conveniently accessible by food handlers. The five minor infractions included the food handling room not being maintained in sanitary condition with clean floors and ceiling, and free from equipment not regularly used.

This place has some serious violations with public health. Just read the article on a toronto blog site. Dam I aint ever coming back to this joint. My belly always used to run after eating here

Mancha is a staple in our community quick on the go great cooked food be sure be sure be sure to get that barbecue chicken with steamed veggies on rice or if youre veggie theres a great veggie meal or a great fish meal too food sells out fast so make sure to get there before closing time

Don t even bother ordering through Uber eats they do not care about the quality or quantity of your order. They have given me meals with missing chicken drumstick and what looks like scraps as if someone was eating the meal and bit up the chicken and didn t want. All that rice plus my coleslaw was mixed in to the rice and pieces of chicken. Terrible I wouldn t even give that to my enemy. On top of that sometimes the chicken is undercooked.

I went to the Dufferin location with my girlfriend on May 6th. There were 2 guys working at the restaurant. The guy who served us was visibly angry and knocking the food cover loudly with the serving spoon. I was informed that they had several infractions recently. The same food server also handles cash without cleaning his hand. Food containers are left open, with no hair net, dirty floors, and the coleslaw is left out on the table instead of refrigerated. To top off, they said the $7 portion of what I ordered is not available but will serve the same $7 portion in a $13 container with no increase to the amount of food. The Eglington location has it available and sells the same portion for $7 after checking later that day. Im not sure if they are now hustling customers, but Ive been going to this location for over 6 years, and Ill skip that location from now on.

I went to purchase food yesterday and let me tell you how terrible the customer service wa.s . The black young lady that was serving the food lacks all form of mannerism her customer service can not be rated because it was just so horrible I can t even find words to described I was yelled at when I asked about the items being placed in my bowl I do not understand why she was extremely aggressive you are selling food providing a service and lacking. If you would like have business thrive this young lady is not going to be contributing to that.

I never do reviews but after eating their food it was only right. Best Jerk chicken meal I had by far. I got a large. Chicken , coleslaw, gravy on the rice all on point. Only thing is to add a little more rice but other than that it was blessed plus price is great.

Simple menu at a good price

Probably the least expensive caribbean food in town. And its really tasty. The location is not fancy, so you will prob want to get take out (trying to remember if they even have dine-in, they might not).

Jerk chicken with the right amount of spice, freshly made coleslaw with the right amount of sweetness and tang and the young lady serving behind the counter was so nice to deal with. Definitely going back.

You will not find amazing quality food like this anywhere for 5 dollars!! The lunch special is a steal and you should go out to grab it. Love the family feel of this low key joint as well.

I used to goto the Scarborough location but apparently its closed permanently. Went to the Dufferin location multiple times (during business hours) but was still closed. Food was out and ready, but nobody home. Its a shame.

The service is fast they have toonie Tuesday, but overall the basics jerk chicken, bbq chicken, fried chicken...rice and peas, coleslaw goat, never had stew chicken. Oxtail havent tired plantains. My friend just put in a order on Uber , had to edit it cuz they where sold out of cola, so we switched it to Dr Pepper ... there was no Dr Pepper in the bag so I did. It end up getting my drink ... we got charged for the Dr Pepper and had to deal with Uber for the missing item ... not the first time something was missing

I just ordered from this place on uber eats....the rice and peas was horrible... how could you make hard uncooked rice leave your kitchen and in the hands of your customers.... calling and they would not answer. Never again!

I come here for the food Ive never had an issue with the service until today. The girl who was working came in late and had us waiting 15 mins they let in a lady that decided not to wait in her car which is ok. I let them know that we were here first as we were on our lunch break she asked again if we were first and we confirmed it. Yet still chose to serve the lady. I just said thats crazy we told you we were here first and yet your serving her first. She replied she was inside so Im serving her you dont have to be served I replied consideting we have lunch break she replied well go to work you dont have to get food So not only was she late but was being very rude and giving poor customer service. I said she must be the boss cause this is crazy as a customer we should not have to be treated like this at any time.

May 2021 centrally located among shipping areas, this place is right near Yorkdale shopping mall and the highway. Nearby, theres Orfus road which is known for its discount outlets. The storefront itself is a bit outdated, but its the food that matters the most. Dont expect amazing service.. first time I was here, I asked for jerk chicken and the girl told me to wait 15 minutes.. 15 minutes later, a few customers later, she thought I had asked for fried chicken. The next time was better. They have a phone number, but during the evenings or busy times, dont expect anyone to answer. Theres usually only the cook and a person at the front serving the food and handling the cash. This place is cash only. Good thing is, they dont deal in change. $3 for a chicken leg. Awesome price. Got the jerk chicken and the food and taste is great. Chicken is nice and tender and not dry. Gravy adds nice flavor. 3 for service, 4 for taste and price.

My favorite Jamaican spot to get barbecue chicken. The food is affordable and tastes delicious. Great value for your money. The chef definitely knows how to cook. The only issue is I cant understand when the server/cashier speaks, not sure if its the mask. Overall great experience!

Owner with a dirty restaurant and attitude. As she put out my food, she had no mask on and was using the speaker on her phone to take an order as she held the phone with her other hand. I asked her not to do that and she told me off. Why would she think I want her spit all over my food it beyond me. No food is worth poor customer service. I left and got something else. As I walked out, I heard her telling everyone under the sound of her voice how horrible I was. Holding dirty phone, no mask on, speaking loudly over my food so the person on the other end can hear her,...but I was in the wrong. First and last visit.

Ive ordered from here numerous times via Ubereats and Mainsha consistently delivers high quality chicken. Both the jerk and bbq chicken dishes taste amazing at an incredible value.

Amazing food at an even better price. We were craving some jerk chicken and found this place on UberEats. For just over $20 we got 3 different orders of chicken (2 small and 1 medium order), rice and coleslaw as well as 3 drinks. $5 for the small order is possibly the best deal weve ever experienced on UberEats and I highly recommend it to anyone for a single meal. If you want to have this for multiple meals, its definitely worth it to upgrade to the medium/large meals instead.

Got Food poisoning...

I m giving Mainsha 1 star because I did an Uber eats order for 1 meal and 3 drinks. I only got 1 drink. This combo doesn t come with a drink, I paid for all 3 drinks separately and still got 1. And the one drink they gave me had a Tyme leaf floating around in it before I even opened it. I tried call multiple times in the span of 30 mins, no answer. I literally opened this app today with the sole purpose of supporting my black people. And I m extremely annoyed right now.

The food is good, but I noticed every time I order Ubereats, they cut back on the chicken. This is my second time and I wont be doing it again. In-store its different they will give you the whole leg 1/4, I was so mad on these two occasions I need what I pay for

This was, by far, the friendliest service I ever received. However, the food has steadily gone downhill since Coco passed. The rice was mushy, the chicken and coleslaw was tasteless. Im sad, as this had been my favourite place for 20 years. Once things reopen fully, I may try it again.

Felt like some inexpensive Jamaican food today! The place was packed with people of all races and ages - anxiously waiting in line. They came for the Twoonie Tuesday special. Just $2.50 for Fried or BBQ lunch! Most people purchased three or more lunches. A guy took away six lunch specials. The food is always good. I would recommend more staff during the lunch hour!

Walked in today and got turned down. They said they didnt open (front door was wide open) until 11:30am. I walked out thinking it mustve been around 11 or something, but it was actually 11:30am when I got back to my car.

Though it doesnt look it from outside the place offers authentic Jamaican food in Canada for a decent price. The staff is very engaging and the quantity of food is more than enough. Some effort can be placed on making the place more aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Not you fine dining restaurant experience but certainly food bursting with flavour.

This place has been the go to for Tuesday deals ($2.50 for fried/bbq chicken with rice & peas and coleslaw). Been coming here for years and Ive never been disappointed by the meals Id have. I do miss their homemade juices which were also very popular back then. Just know for $10 you can feed a family of four on Tuesdays, thats all Im going to say.

One of my FAVORITE spots in Toronto! Its always the go to Caribbean spot anytime Im in the city! Its been around for EVER and never disappoints! Great portions, tastey and affordable.

The food was delicious! The workers are very kind,and friendly. The located directly from the shopping mall. Stop in,and get a bite to eat, you will not regret it.

Mainsha hits the spot every time. Great tasting food at a bargain price. It s quick in and out. They tend to close early depending on how busy it was. So don t go there 10 mins before close expecting a fresh meal.

It was the worst place I ve ever had. I ordered two of items but unfortunately I got just one. I called them to ask missing item but they refused my opinion as well as ain t responsible for that. All of a sudden, the boss hang up the call while I m talking. It was disgusting and unrespectful attitude for consumers. There are many nice restaurant which provides chicken foods nearby there. Hopefully, do not grap here in order to experience unkind service like me.
