Staff were friendly, burek is fresh/warm/flaky/savoury/delicious, and the combo plate with 2 different sausages was amazing (I like the small cevapi sausage more than the longer smoked veal sausage)

My first experience with Balkan-style meat was at a family friend's wedding, when I asked: "What is this delicious meat?" And the answer was: "Ćevapčići" (minced meat kebabs). When I discovered MAK European Delicatessen, this became my go-to place for: tasty meat (ćevapi, pljeskavica, sudžukice), kajmak (Balkan cream cheese), burek (filo pies stuffed with meat, cheese or spinach), ajvar (roasted red peppers sauce), and mineral waters of the former Yugoslavia... even after moving away from the neighbourhood. While revisiting the neighbourhood recently, it was a joy to stop in for a burek and re-live the old sights, sounds and aromas of the delicatessen and grill. I enjoyed the meat burek (beef). The meaty filling had a judicious amount of onion and spice, though the filo pastry was a bit soft (I like the exterior a bit more crunchy). Pleasantly filling. All in all, a really tasty burek. The interior dining area was more colourful and vibrant than I had remembered it - happy to see that the present is even better than the nostalgic past. MAK European Delicatessens is probably the best Balkan deli in the eastern part of Toronto - great selection of Balkan meats, sweets and treats to be had. With a bottle of Pelisterka / Пелистерка mineral water in hand, it was time to continue my journey.
Burek was amazing! Great variety of products and fresh meat. Was also positively surprised with selection of dried/cured/smoked beef and sausages which you cannot find in most (if any) stores in Toronto. Staff is very friendly and had amazing chat with everyone! Will be coming back for sure!
Just bought this pack of Tarhana in the store today and there was live insects and maggots inside. The bag was not even sealed. Do not recommend to buy this type of tarhana, I am disappointed!
Amazing amazing amazing. Was recommended to try the cevapi and it did not disappoint. I tried the Cevapi/Sudjukice combo and a Beef Burek. Delicious! Will definitely be back and next time do a little shopping in the store and stock up some cevapi to make at home.
Really nice European Supermarket that carries some nice unique items and most importantly their famous Cevapi. You can also grab fresh prepared food here as well.
Dropped in for a weekend lunch with a friend. Its interesting to note that the restaurant section is cosily hidden in the back of what is mostly an Eastern European deli/grocery store. We ordered the cevapi sausage combo and the Flatbread burger (I need to remember the name), it was all very delicious and represented incredible value. Staff were friendly and it really has an authentic vibe to it. 10/10 would go back again.
If you have no money travel to Europe, just go to this place and dine in there in amazing build in authentic restaurant

I ordered the mousaka. It lacked flavor,had no eggplant,onions or any veggies. There was no bechaml sauce. Furthermore it contained only potatoes and one tasteless tbsp.of fried beef. The worst part was it cost 10.00! What a waste of money! Definitely not a repeat;( will not return here again.
If you go to the back of the deli there s usually 2 grandmas cheffing it up. Their food is amazing. You ll get a typical Eastern European experience, we can be very direct lol. I definitely recommend the Burek, the chevapi, and if they have zelnik. It s to die for. Oh and get some kajmak for home, it s better than any cream cheese at the grocery stores.

At least 30% higher prices than other Euro delis. I dont know what they are thinking. Nice service though.

It can be intimating to go into a store where EVERYTHING has a different name and several products are labeled in different languages - This will not happen at MAK deli - Sure all the food has names you don t know- Just say whats that? and they will explain it to you. Lovely friendly people. This is where I first found Sremska, Ajvar, and Quince jam. Great food Lovely people
Feels like I left the country for Andrew minutes. They even have a little tiny eatery at the back that serves fresh Cevapi and when you realise how good it is the dont gatekeep it. They sell them in small and huge quantities raw in a fridge. And its reasonable lots of yummy harder to find meats like Shinken... Wish I lived closer its so far for me.

Hi, I didnt like the small ones at all and especially the cakes Horrible, what a fine, what box do you sell me, plastic or wooden, I sent someone to buy it because it wasnt me, alas Samar....oribilll The man misses Romanian food and gets even more angry So the cookies are not even 40 grams Exactly sponges filled with butter cream SHAMEEEEEEE

Great selection of European foods. Cevapi are fantastic, sausages are great. Hot counter available as well. I visit almost weekly in the summer and never disappointed. Recommended dishes
The store runs deep to the back. Nice selection of Eastern European deli things. They have much burek and cevapi - made in house.
Very limited items on the menu. Nothing special for a non European. Interesting atmosphere in the dine-in area. I felt like i was at a local restaurant somewhere in Europe. The female cook with a lot of make-up could use a smile. LOL

stuff is absolutely ignorant, I wanted to pay for 1! item and the lady in the cash told me one minute then she left to deal with some deli meat in the back counter she saw me waiting for about 5 minutes and i only wanted to pay for 1 thing that would have taken 2 seconds of her time but she just ignored me .. i left without purchasing ... if you want to run a succesful business you need to learn you rely on your customers. there are other stores in the area that sell european stuff, I will just shop there.
The Burek is divine!! I haven t tried the hot table yet but I can t wait. The desserts are also delicious.
I love this place, I was working down the street from here and came in because I forgot my lunch, the food was incredible, I had a 5 peice sausage sandwich with amazing cream cheese,I forgot the actual name, but it was insanely good. Will be forgetting my lunch any time I come to this area!
I had a sandwich made of of five small sausages on this light and fluffy bun served with red onion. It was absolutely delicious and filling. The people were genuinely friendly and hospitable. I will definitely be going back there to try other foods and drinks.

They were friendly.
One of the best meals I ve had in ages. The beans with sausage and the roasted veggies with the beef. Tasted like a beautiful home cooked meal with lovely ingredients. Utter delight.

Food was delicious, I had the cevapi and sudjukice lunch combo. I also had a drink, that I dont know the name but it is a brand from former Yugoslavia. The drink taste like a cola champagne drink. I will definitely come back. Great Eastern European food.

Great food, I highly recommend it if you want t9 eat hreat evapi and su ukice. On the pic is combo of 5pcs evapi and 2 su ukice sausages. Very delicious And after lunch I did some shopping. They had everything I needed from back home. Oh yea, happy 20th birthday of this place! :)
It has its euro specialty foods and prices are similar to other European stores. So just call ahead to see if they have what youre looking for and hopefully the line up is not to long to get in.

Terrible experience....they are closing moping the floors 10 min before 5 clock and not allowing customers to buy anything.....the women who mop the floor ignoring people who knock on lock front door even they suppose to be open until 5 clock. Terrible experience and i dont advice anyone to go at this store

Small local shop we frequent. Love finding little European treats here and getting my favourite beef salami. Staff are very very kind and friendly. I feel like there could be more wider selection but you cant have it all!

Well organized store, currently have some Christmas chocolates in for the holidays (Nov. 20 22) always great selections of deli meat, cakes, European foods and plenty of drinks. Have cevapi , Burak ect..
I really like this place good food. But the last time I purchased from them I got home and found out they charged me for 7 items and I only bought 6 things, so make sure you check your receipt before leaving. I really hate being ripped off.
Maks is an amazing old country store. If you have not experienced foods from Bosnia and Croatia, you should visit Maks and treat yourself. The staff are amazing and friendly and the food is great. Food
I am like a kid in a candy store eveyr time I come to this place. Everything looks so good. Ive been coming here for almost 20 years now. Bureks and chevapi here are the best in GTA and Ive tried them at many places. No other place compares and the prices here are very reasonable too. The deli meat is outstanding. Sremska sausage is fantastic, just as many of their other sausages. Baked goodies are a must try here too if you have a sweet tooth.
The food is mostly European meats and Deli Delicacies. I eat North American food so its not really my type of store. But they have exquisite desserts a number of cheeses all kinds of German Meats, specializing in some type of weiner that is used in the Slavic Cpuntries, I believe. There are hundreds pf jarred items all from Europe. Store is tidy, staff very friendly. I bought Swiss cheese and I will be back for the Tiramasu.
