The Annex Toronto will now host its very own, one of a kind mezcal bar featuring the ultimate selection of tequila, mezcal and cocktails designed to perfectly pair with our radiant tapas menu. Mezcalero will always deliver an electric nightlife, a bouquet of events, and delicious food experiences to share.
Amazing happy hour🌮✨ My boyfriend and I love happy hours and stumbled across Mezcalero after being in the area! It was such an amazing find! We got empanadas, margaritas, and the guacamole flight! The pico had different elements to it, and we got the flight with chicaron too! It was so yummy!! The price for the quality of food is so good! We will be coming back again😊❤️
Tony was super humble with me and my friends . The foood was so delicious. Their service was amazing . I enjoyed celebrating my bday there 💞💞. I will recommend trying this place 10/10 .
Food was okay! Servant was attentive, I love the octopus dish but the rest were okay too. Wished they could improve the paella into a better flavor! 😇
I am supposed to give over 4 stars because I like the food there. Only thing disappointed me was the bill was wrong but I noticed after I left. We ordered two cocktail drinks during happy hour time at 17:45 and we confirmed with waiter if it’s still happy hour, and he said yes. But the bill still charged us the normal price. We didn’t look at the bill carefully but we were thinking why is this amount after we left, and after calculation the answer was wrong charge since we can remember every dish and drink’s price. I didn’t take photo of bill or receipt, not sure if it’s on purpose or neglect, somehow it was not pleasant.
A Delightful Experience! The service was exceptional—the staff were incredibly kind and sweet. We ordered the grilled octopus, seafood paella, picanha taco, and pork belly taco. They were all delicious! I especially loved the seafood paella and pork belly taco. We originally wanted to try the Tres Leches, but it was sold out today. Our server expressed his regret and surprised us with a complimentary serving of churros instead. It was my first time trying churros, and they were absolutely delicious. The atmosphere and ambiance of the restaurant were also great. The server even asked us about our favorite songs and played them in the restaurant, which made us really happy. To top it off, the bill came to less than $20 per person for the four of us—such great value! The food is fantastic, the prices are reasonable, and the staff are incredibly friendly! Highly recommended!
Great ambience with outdoor options. The food is a fusion between Mexican and Spanish food. The guacamole is quite special, worth trying! And the octopus is good too. But the paella portion seems small, only enough for 1 person if you are big eater.
This place was a nice little discovery when exploring my old neighborhood from my university days! The cocktails are well made, cold and extremely tasty. Empanadas were hot and the rest of the food was delicious! There was a bit of an issue with our octopus order (which was a reasonable misunderstanding due to my poor pronunciation), but the waitress was very quick to procure the right order for us - no charge. Overall friendly service and good food! Just not 5 stars as our tacos were not hot and were difficult to eat lathered in too much sauce and big leaves of cilantro. We’ll definitely be back, and will adjust the review accordingly! Thanks for a lovely meal! 🙂
I absolutely enjoy the food & drinks at Mezcalero- located in the heart of The Annex! Their cocktails are always on point and so aesthetically pleasing! The food is on fire 🔥 compliments to the chef and the vibes and interior is to die for. Anthony is the absolute best at delivering the best and most welcoming atmosphere!! I cant wait to dine out in their patio. The Brunch menu is a definite must try ♥️
The food is really so good and affordable!! The portion is very big too!
popped in while running errands manager Charlotte and server Grace were super personable, we were served by Charlotte who guided us through the menu and suggested the octopus which was fantastic. Charlottes knowledge about the products they carry and reccomendations were top notch! thanks for a lovely visit!
Attended about a week ago. Charlotte had a strong knowledge of the tequila and mezcal and was happy to make delicious recommendations. Grace popped by and kept the mood light and airy. The mezcalrita was very tasty. The grilled octopus was delightful. I look forward to coming back
This place has it all. The atmosphere is wonderful, great location, beautiful patio, excellent service, and the food is amazing. I cant see why anyone would give it less than five stars. Ive come here many times and will come again.
A delightful brunch with interesting and aesthetically beautiful food! The decor is definitely a vibe and the présentation of food was gorgeous! I had the Pistachio pancakes with a Fruit compote, lovely!
Wonderful food
Great experience
Beautiful place I loved it...It has a very nice staff
My drink was $15 on the menu, $20 was charged to me with no ask for choice of a tip. I then received a 3/4 of a cup of a margarita mix drink which also was primarily ice. I m very disappointed . Not worth the value! The photo I added is what I received for $20, it s not even a full beverage this is unacceptable
Music is too loud the drinks are all pre mixed filled with mostly ice and taste was very sub standard. No coat check for a Canadian venue. Overall I would skip this place in the future.
I have been to Mezcalero several times, and I must say, it exceeds my expectations! The atmosphere is warm, inviting, and perfect for a night out with friends. The drink menu is impressive, featuring a variety of creative cocktails. The service was exceptional; our servers were friendly and the manager Tony always made sure we had everything we needed in a timely manner. Overall, Mezcalero is a fantastic spot for great food, drinks, and a lively atmosphere. I can t wait to return and try more dishes from their menu!
so unpalatable
The happy hour is very good and the patio very pleasant !
Super cool vibe, good food, delicious drinks!
Our wait staff knew little about the menu, told us we d be charged and auto gratuity, then ignored our table. No water refills, no second drink offerings. Food was nice. Small portions.
Went in with a party of 8 last night for a pre wedding party. The portion sizes are way too small despite the food tasting excellent. We ordered several plates for the table along with entrees and I still had to eat what my fiancee didnt eat on account of being hungry. Service was good, there are some very tasty cocktails as I am a big fan of mezcal. I honestly wouldnt get food there again because twenty dollars for 6 thin slices of carne assada (depsite being well prepared) is just way too steep. Maybe we ordered the wrong things but everyone in our party of 8 was disappointed with portion sizes. I would maybe go back for drinks during happy hour, ultimately the drinks and service took this place from a 2 to 3 though. If they had bigger portions it would easily be a 5.
Best happy hour in the city. Spicy margaritas are excellent and really nice patio.
Great patio for brunch. Great cocktails too! Food
Review is not really for food but misleading information. I had a reservation for lunch at 2:15pm on Sunday October 6th, 2024. However when I arrived, they told me it s only brunch menu and then kitchen closes for dinner. I was not intrigued by any of their brunch menu items and specifically came for your other menu. I have requested the waitress to cancel my reservation on their end because your restaurant has a cancellation charge. Please ensure on your website and hours it specifies you don t have lunch or a lunch menu and it s only breakfast and dinner menu. Many restaurants do detail these things.
We had our friends celebration here last Friday and the service was amazing! Tony and I think Kury gave us a special treatment which made our girl feel so loved. Would definitely recommend it to friends
Elevated Mexican cuisine. The guac bar is delicious and the pibil taco was heavenly. I will definitely return.
NO REFUND OF BOOKING FEE When I open up their official website they have a reserve a table tab, and click in, they guid you to choose your table. This will cost you 5CAD/person for a booking fee and THIS WILL NOT BE REFUNDED!!! Aditionally, if I book through google, I do not get the same time slot on their website. To book my time slot, I have to do it through their website. Very MISLEADING and TRIKCY design, and I do not see a notice that I will not get the refund when I process the reservation online. I thought it would be the same as many other resturants, a pending transation on credit card, if you show up at the time, you get the refund. If you have to make a reservation, i suugest you make a phone call. Otherwise you will be charged a lot for not eat anything yet.
Mezcalero is the new kid on the bloor west block and it sure does pack a punch. It s a thrill on the weekends and the food is underrated to a fault. The drinks rank up there with the best in the city. 10/10
A really great value for happy hour, but also just a great spot with decor, good music. Staff and really nice. Would also be a good spot for individual private events!
Cool. Food is really scrumptious ! Will certainly be coming back again with the Mrs.
Phenomenal. If you love mezcal and want the best variety in Toronto, this is your spot. We ordered off the experiences menu and our server put together an outstanding selection of food and drink.
We first visited Mezcalero out of interest to try the mezcal cocktails and were really impressed by the drinks, service, and food. We keep going back because the service is so friendly, the drinks are delicious, and the food is great (the guacamole bar is so good!).
Highly recommend the octopus, seafood paella, pork tacos (the one with raw onions as they have two types of pork tacos) and chicken tacos. Tres leches was a great dessert.
Very delicious! Must try restaurant and affordable!!!
We didnt know what to expect when we stopped at this sunny patio for brunch today, but what a great surprise! The food is exceptional--creative and beautifully prepared. The corn canelles were some of the best things Ive ever eaten, the avocado pancake was unusual and delicious, and the tostadas and Colombian breakfast were excellent. The portions are generous, and the prices are reasonable. We will be back to try the dinner menu. A truly memorable meal!
My partner and I came in here for brunch. There was only one other table and we had good service and enjoyed the food. However, we came back again to try the dinner service. We were really disappointed with the slow service we received despite their being many staff available. When we finally got our plates, we were disappointed by the very small serving sizes. We left hungry and went somewhere else for dessert. However, I will say that the drinks are good. Maybe a spot to drink at over brunch, but not great for dinner. Unfortunately we wont be back due to the service and the small portions.
We recently had a private event here and had the best time ever! The manager, Anthony, was so attentive and clearly had a team that shared his same attitude in ensuring our party was a success. The space is beautiful and cocktails were immaculate, it was hard not to try them all! I would highly recommend not to miss out on their patio.
Really nice experience and food here! Good for dating
Great date spot. Great variety of consignment tequila and mezcal
Amazing South American brunch dishes. Original combinations and great flavors.
I tried this restaurant with my guide and the food was pretty good. Its just a bit cold to eat outdoors, and the food loses its taste after its cooled down. I just happened to come across an indoor bachelor party event. The paella is normal, the taca is relatively large and not particularly tasty, the salad is normal, my favorite green dish, I forgot its name, the sauce is green tomatoes. The wine I ordered was gin and cherry liquor. It wasn t particularly to my taste, but I could drink it once I got used to it. It was okay.
Always a fun time!! I usually go after work for the Happy Hour special, but I went this time for a friends going away party. They did a great job accommodating a large party.
Great spot. We usually go there for the happy hour specials. For sure worth checking out specially on a nice they as they have an mazing patio.
foods are terrible! Drinks are ok beef is super burnt to black and bitter! Rice in pealla is very hard! Won t go again, not recommended!
First time here and highly recommend. Have to apologize for the pics as we kept ordering round after round of food and before I could snap photos it was partially eaten. Vibe was chill and service was very attentive and old school. Our server Cosy went out of his way to make our group feel at home at the GM Anthony also checked in multiple times. Tequila Paloma s and Bourbon Old Fashioneds were on point. The food though , OMG I m kinda drooling thinking of all the dishes we tried including the desserts. The Steak dish melted in your mouth and the Tres Leches Cake was so light you could eat a dozen orders and want more. Highly recommend for solo eating , date night or group functions. I / we will all be back soon.
I have had several great experiences here since opening and the great service keeps me coming back. Fabulous happy hour, for both drinks and food. Our server Elaine (I believe) was wonderful. Kept water coming, kept drinks coming, and ensured are experience was a good one.
I m stunned by the fact that this restaurant dose one of a kind seafood dishes honestly the dish I ordered called grilled octopus with baby potatoes also comes with sauce OMG.i would recommend it to anyone the server told me the chef was from Mexico and he was sponsored by the restaurant owner wow
The worst food ever! The empanadas were not fresh and were heated in the microwave, the ceviche tasted like it was mixed with Clamato. We asked for more limon, salt and cilantro and i tried remaking the food to make it more edible. Never again!
We had a staff dinner here last week and it was awesome!!! I think we ordered two or three of everything off the menu and nothing was left on the table. Service was attentive and gracious, tapas were tasty and generously portioned, cocktails were delicious, flowing. GM Anthony was so lovely and insisted on shots! He made sure we were well taken care of this is a sweet spot for a group, date, solo hang. Super chill.
greasy non authentic mexican food owned by crafty coyote across the street. Response to owner: Focus on the food you re a restaurant. Hire a mexican chef and problem solved. This is not authentic whatsoever hence why highlighting crafty coyote operation. Nice environment but you need to up your food it s a 1 out of 10 if you want to stay relevant. A shame as the resto was done up well but it s only the facade. Greasy, use mayo/aioli base for all sauces, an attempt at real guac, etc.
The Guac Bar is fantastic, lots of tasty sides. Cocktails are excellent too.
Their portion is ridiculous small. Taste is not bad, toco is pretty good. However, definitely not worth given that portion size. Do not recommend.
Everything was just okay, food was meh ( guac bar ) lots of dips, not enough chips or smaller crumbs which you couldn t really eat with the dip or guac. Drinks were fine. Service was okay. 30% tip option on the machine to pay is unhinged for this type of place
Elaine was a great bartender with a warm smile. I had to ask for her name before leaving and she makes great cocktails. Looking forward to visiting with my friends
One of our favorite places! Delicious food and drinks, modern interior and fancy tequila! Food
It s the real thing. Traditional mezcal cocktails, mostly authentic empanadas (cheese has Pimento? But still good), 10/10 experience would go again. Get the Mezcalarita
Stopped to try this restaurant food and I was blown away the way they prepare seafood , I asked the server he said the owner imported th chef from Mexico and this is his specialty wow. Loved everything.make sure to try grilled octopus and few other dishes Vegetarian options: Honestly I found everything just amazing
Solid happy hour and empanadas. I would recommend their happy hour cocktails. Its a great deal.
Highly recommended to go during happy hour and order their beef empanadas, both drinks and gaucamole bar food. Cozy, our waiter, was really friendly and nice. A great outdoor patio that allows dogs and interior space is also nice.
Went there last week for the first time to soak up some sunshine on their patio. The decoration is nice too, but the best thing was Charlotte. I just want to say it out loud SHE IS DOING AN EXCEPTIONALLY GOOD JOB!
When I made the reservation on OpenTable I requested for standard indoor ( not patio not bar) however upon arrival, even though they have standard table empty, waitress told me they can only offer me bar seats since the empty table were reserved, so other reservation is more important than mine. We took the bar seats in the end but no one attended to us for like 10 mins, very hard to get attention from their staff! While waiting for our course to come, we noticed there s a table beside window emptied, we asked a waitress if we can move there she answered it s reserved along with the long tables for a group of 15. We ordered 3 course but left after half finished the first, on our way out the window seats were occupied with 4 ladies, where is the group of 15?! Very disappointed with the service and definitely will not recommend to anyone! On the side note, not sure if we are getting this treatment since we are visible minorities. Anyways will not return and won t recommend to anyone who wants to have a good time.
Foods incredible and drinks are great!
Amazing drinks, loved the palomas. Elaine is a great bartender with good recommendations. Definitely be back!
I love the place and all its mixology, everything is very delicious!!
My husband and I went for their Sunday brunch. We had Enchiladas Suizas, Avocado Pistachio Pancakes, and Corn Canelles. We also tried their 2 for 1 Palomas. The pancakes were dense and flavorful. The corn canelles are like corn pudding. I love the enchiladas!
Amazing food, amazing service. Charlotte was amazing and such a vibe. Will definitely be coming back
Charlotte was amazing. will come back again! food was great and drinks were great
The Paella is a must! Cocktails well presented There are 2 parking lots nearby Food
The food was good but it took 75min to bring our tacos. Waiter just kept telling us kitchen was busy. I think they need to re-manage thier restaurant Food
Great spot and great food. Tres leches dessert slaps
The quality and quantity of food for the price is brilliant. The guac bar and empanadas were pretty much perfect and the tres leches cake was so good I didnt wait to take pics before digging in. Definitely recommend this place for groups, as they have an experience menu which is great value. Will be visiting again for sure Vegetarian options: Guac bar is a great option for vegetarians, they also have vegetarian empanadas and tacos
Nice atmosphere, margarita was great, happy hour specials were good. Food was ok. We visited with a couple of friends who are vegetarian/pescetarian and were surprised to find there were no fish or veggie tacos on the menu. Also found the mayo-based dips with chips a bit unexpected. Service was decent but when we got the bills we found out we were charged a 20% gratuity because we were a group (we were 5 people). Since when is 5 people considered a large group? Might also make sense to mention the auto-gratuity to guests as a courtesy before handing them the final bill.
The casa paella is recommended. Prefer the seafood one. Mez fried chicken is better without the sauce on the side. The drink is liquid luck, good for people who love sour taste drink. A little suggestion could be to ask for preference of cilantro and green onion in case people who is not a fan of them. (which is me) Cuz every single dish comes with them.
Not enough waiters and the food tastes very unique
My friend and I got so excited to try the food we forgot to take pictures of the other great dishes. The octopus...oh, the octopus....spectacular. Tender, thick, and juicy! Ha! A must-try here if you ask me. Grilled perfectly and covered in a sauce like a tartar sauce that was so good. We also had the seafood paella, pibil tacos and empanadas. The pibil taco melts in your mouth. And the empanada dish came with a mezcal adobo sauce. Yeah, exactly....never tried anything like it. On top of that, the staff was super friendly, and just great service. For every reason, will have to come back and try the rest of the dishes.
Have been here for dinner prior but most recently for brunch. Tacos and guac app were delicious, big portions and authentic taste. Guac app was a lot of food for two people. Enjoyed the smoked ham toastada it was very fresh. Service is also so friendly and they have arguably the best patio on Bloor! Would come back.
Good Mexican restaurant in Downtown Toronto. While other Mexican restaurants in this city don t meet the minimum for Mexican cuisine, I can say this one does. Guacamole, chicharrones, empanadas (although not Mexican) were decent. However, you can tell that not all the ingredients were homemade, such us the chicharrones and tortilla chips. Cheese empanadas are stuffed with cheddar cheese and cream, which would not be the best cheese to use. On the other hand, ceviches, carne asada and tacos were very tasty and surprised my palate. As a small critic, the size of the tacos was too small, but the quality and taste of the pibil was greatly achieved. Pork belly tacos were very good as well, having that crunchy taste we look for when ordering this meat. Something to highlight from this place are the drinks. Mezcal here is very good, properly giving the name to the restaurant, and they make some drink called mezcaleritas which was surprisingly good. Staff was attentive and gives a mezcal with pomegranate shot to everyone as welcome compliment of Mezcalero. Overall, this restaurant is good to enjoy a casual Mexican meal. However, I missed some (key dishes, in my opinion) typical Mexican plates such as quesadillas or enchiladas, which should be a minimum in these type of restaurants. Staff was attentive, but service ended up being slow with a long period of time between plates. Price is very affordable and not regrettable for the quality and quantity served.
Octopus was good, pork tacos were good. Chicken taco was not as good, and neither was pan con chorizo. Service was average for Toronto, which is good.
Like other reviews that aren t dazzled by the drinks and location, the food which is the primary purpose of being a restaurant wasn t good. The guacamole was greasy as another reviewer had mentioned. I guess it hadn t been rectified as the restaurant said they would look into it. I ordered some beef tacos and the strips of beef were bitter because they were burnt. I also read in other reviews that they cook this way for the octopus also. Maybe (con carbon) is the way the cook is trained? Anyway perhaps not for everyone as it ends up being bitter. We didn t order the paella but we were surprised to see a tapas sized plate come out for our table neighbours. I had to ask them how it was and they said it wasn t that good. Maybe it s just our palette. The atmosphere was good though! My Sol beer was served to me almost room temperature. It certainly wasn t cold. I think this place is great for atmosphere and cocktails but for food they fall flat. But as for the other reviews that are similar, suggest the restaurant look into this as this is the raison d être of any restaurant. THE FOOD. Also a minimum 20% suggested tip on the point of sale machine is a bit much don t you think? Pay your wait staff a proper wage please and lower the suggested tips to the normal 15%, 18% and 20% that everywhere else has.
Okay the vibes here are IMMACULATE! So aesthetic and pretty, I can t wait to see the patio once it s warmer! All the drinks were super strong which is a plus! Not to mention how tasty their new brunch menu is! I loved the bandeja paisa because you get a little taste of everything which is awesome! Also they gave us these corn cakes and they were so custardy and delicious! 10/10 can t wait to come back for a night out and ESPECIALLY when the patio opens! Here s hoping for warmer weather soon!
Very small portions... The octopus is a bit too sour, and the paella shocked us with the size of an iPhone (and its the regular not the iPhone plus). Maybe good for influencers, but I personally wont recommend it if youre looking for good food.
20 minutes after being seated, was not acknowledged. Im willing to wait when restaurants are busy, but a simple acknowledgement from any staff member to say theyll be with me shortly would do. After making eye contact, being ignored, and then seeing other tables being checked up on, finally walked out.
Good enough. Like the octopus
We stumbled on Mezcalero while looking for a patio on a sunny spring afternoon. It s great their patio gets the west sun since many patios in the area are shaded by the buildings and not sunny. It also happened to be Happy Hour. Half priced margaritas and something else I didn t catch it on the menu. The margaritas were really good and I like how they left some of the rim saltless cause sometimes it s too much for me. We also got the guacamole bar and it was delicious. Great guac, some kind of grilled cheese and a cactus salad with tomatoes. For the four of us we had 5 margaritas, one virgin and two of the guacamole dishes and it was $75 after tax. Great value! The inside is also gorgeous loved the vibe and design.
We had a fantastic dinner at Mezcalero! Delicious and varied food items and an inspired collection of delicious mezcal based cocktails. The service was excellent too, with the bartender Emil coming over to our table to ensure we were having a good time and had everything we needed. Will definitely be coming back again soon.
My friend and I were excited to have dinner here after months of anticipating the opening. We started with drinks and were greatly disappointed. Margarita tasted like dish soap. The appetizer that followed was bland. We left. We will not be back.
A solid 4.5. Maybe a 5 if you can take advantage of their half price margaritas before 6PM. Food off the grill was perfection! We came for their drink and draw, which we were admittedly disappointed in. We were excited for the artist, but this could have literally been run by anyone. No one could hear him speak, and he provided zero tips. Youll have to count on your group to bring the fun. The octopus was perfectly charred and cooked. The potatoes were just extra fried, good but I wouldn t called them patatas bravas on menu. By far our favorite dish. Pibil tacos were ok. They really rely on their sauce to demand all the attention. Guac bar was fun, but would have benefited from better chips and a tad more seasoning. Grilled cheese bits were the highlight!
Great experience
The food was ok and the service was great, but after the dinner my friend and I had stomach discomfort and we both threw up.
Came here for some drinks and we loved it!! Ive never had a mezcal cocktail before and now we cant wait to go back and try some more
Absolutely love this place! The food is delicious, perfect spot for a girls night out. The atmosphere is amazing, and they whip up some seriously tasty cocktails.
This mezcal joint serves up some awesome smoky drinks in a stylish art deco setting. The flavors are a real trip, and the vibe is cool with friendly service. Definitely a go-to spot for mezcal enthusiasts.
All the dishes and service were great! One of the best octopus in the city. Looking forward to checking this place out in the summer to enjoy the patio.
It took 40 minutes to get one drink, and the patio door was left open to serve guests outside in the middle of February. The drink was fine when it finally came, and the food was tasty, but I wouldnt come here if I was actually hungry, or had any time constraints. Food
In the summer, the patio is lovely! Great food! Love the guac bar. Fantastic and unique drinks!
Never had a better tortilla outside of Mexico. Homemade blue corn tortillas almost made me cry from the nostalgia (ratatouille movie final cook scene style). Sat at the bar and Emil took care of us and was a great guide. Tip of the hat to Mezcalero
Amazing kind and attentive service for our group of 6! The fried chicken was our favorite dish and we ll be back for tacos and spicy margaritas again!
A great experience overall. Food and drinks were excellent. The fried chicken and empanadas are exceptional. Great ambience.
Be aware guys, I dont know what is wrong.. But something must be wrong. I was there Feb. 9th, ordered octopus, paella, and cod empanadas, nothing tasted right. My octopus was brunt a bit and it was bitter. Paella was so watery, empanadas was hard as stone. The only part I liked was potato came as side of the octopus. My friend visited here last November and she said its nice. So she booked again for us to celebrate lunar new year. Both of us regretted now. Add a pic to show I was really there.
Fine, fine. Nothing special. The food was good but not worth the price. I wouldn t have bothered to post a review until they brought the credit card machine with three tip options: 20%, 25% and 30%. I clicked custom and calculated 18%, but left feeling cheap. I don t like that. That s on them.
Amazing food Great vibe,/service Everything was perfect! Food : 5/5
Ive been a fan of Mezcalero for some time now, but my recent visit left much to be desired. The Seafood Paella, which used to be a highlight, seemed noticeably smaller and lacking in ingredients compared to previous visits. Additionally, the octopus was overcooked, detracting from the dishs overall quality. However, what truly soured the experience was the service. When I requested more water, the server appeared impatient and asked me to wait, only to return and engage in conversation with other staff members without fulfilling my request. It was a disappointing experience overall, and I hope the restaurant addresses these issues for future patrons.
Decent food and if youre looking for great mezcal, this is the place. We had two mezcal cocktails and a shot and theyre all great. Ask for the tobala mezcal, its pricey but very very good. Service is attentive and food arrives quickly. Will come back to try the other mezcal they have.
Both the service and the food are very good.
My favorite restaurant in Downtown Toronto, me and my boyfriend always date here, the atmosphere is so good. If u have date just bring to here!!!! Strongly recommend to everyone!!!! And it s a nice place to drink with friends too!!
They made me amazing vegan tacos My husband ate the empanada and he loves it Everything was fresh and tasty!! Service was amazing too Thank you
Customer service was really bad. No food no water no napkins. Came on Feb 14, at least 4 or 5 servers around less than 20 tables totally. Always need to wave hands for at least 5 times and there would be a server coming to you. Being waiting for the seafood rice for more than an hour but eventually came cold, very cold. The server took it to the microwave after I told her to do so but still came cold after 5 mins. Doubt if they have any equipment that can heat the food. :) Definitely not gonna come again. Really bad experience.
This place is amazing. I highly recommend. All the staff are friendly and considerate. Daniela is fantastic I really enjoyed my night.
This is a really nice restaurant if you re looking for a good Mexican food experience. Unfortunately, they had no beef items on the menu as they were out of beef? A bit off but as it s the holidays maybe that s why? The drinks are great, the service is great and the guacamole is really tasty! I recommend!
Very great place trying all kinds of mezcal! Amazing foods as well, especially the bacon cheese dates
The octopus legs and strawberry pistachio cake are both delicious, and the indoor decorations are very attractive. The seafood risotto is slightly salty; I prefer the chicken risotto. Will come back
Not many places in the city you can get great tacos and excellent Mezcal. Thankfully there is Mezcaleros. Gracias Dios!
Absolutely love the ambiance of this restaurant! The cocktails were incredible and the food was quite tasty. I must also mention how fairly priced everything is - get the experience if you can! The service was a bit slow but there was one young gentleman in particular who served us towards the end of the evening who was fantastic!
Mezcalero, a sublime Mexican restaurant, transports you straight to Mexico with its vibrant ambiance and exquisite flavors. Among the menus stars are the grilled octopus, cooked to perfection and bursting with sea-fresh goodness. The empanadas, crispy pockets of flavorful filling, are simply divine, and the Regia salad is a refreshing symphony of locally-sourced ingredients that adds a light, wholesome touch. These culinary delights, paired with their expansive selection of tequilas and mezcals, make for a truly memorable dining experience. The service is commendable, with a friendly, knowledgeable staff. Mezcalero offers a captivating and authentic Mexican experience, earning itself a full five-star rating.
The vibe of restaurant was really nice and cute. I got a cocktail but the quality of cocktail was not good just juice and ice. Overall, nice place to just hang out
Our server (Lucas) was attentive and knowledgeable. He recommended us the croquets and they were super tasty!! The vibes of the place were friendly, fun and easygoing. Would definitely come back!
Went with a group of friends this past weekend. The tapas and cocktails were fantastic. The staff were warm, welcoming and attentive. Will definitely be returning!
The food is somewhat tasteless, but its not bad, the skis are a disappointment.
Great time at Mezcalero. Octopus and margs were fantastic. Super cool raised patio looking over bloor.
Wow! Such a great place and amazing renovations!!!! Daniele our server was super friendly and suggested tasty options -from food to mescal !!!! Highly recommend and returning!!!!
Simply brilliant!
food and cocktails were amazing
From the moment you enter, Mezcalero sets itself apart. This isnt just a Mexican restaurant; its a delightful blend of Spanish and Mexican traditions. Their Carne Asada showcases their Mexican flavours: tender beef grilled to perfection. Meanwhile, the croquettes, with roasted poblano peppers are so creamy and are a testament to the heart of a unique culinary narrative of comfort food. Every aspect, from service to décor, speaks to their dedication to an experience. At Mezcalero, its more than a meal its a journey through two vibrant cultures, celebrated under one roof. A deserving recipient of five stars.
Awesome place, awesome people, awesome food. Recommend to anyone whos looking for non-boring restaurant
We didn t eat but the cocktails were delicious! We ll have to come back for a meal :)
Great restaurant, the food was fresh and delicious. We loved the music and the Guac Bar was fantastic. Service was great and the inside of the restaurant was nicely decorated!
Came here after a long day, for my first visit. Service was impeccable, cocktails delicious, and my food was wonderful. Huge shout out to Deniz, kindest server on earth. She made the evening amazing, and I will be back
Such a great place in the neighbourhood to grab drinks, food looked awesome too though we didnt order anything. Our server Daniela was so so sweet, from the moment she greeted us at the door to her consistent service with a beaming smile. Thanks Daniela for the wonderful service!
Great tequila bar in Toronto! Love the atmosphere!
Awesome cocktails!
This restaurant had a pretty long inception date and finally it opened this summer.. first the positives - great location on bloor, great patio space and ambience! I wouldve liked however there to be more focus on the food and the quality of drinks as it was just a tad lacking and not something you would equate with the prices that are being sold here
The service and patio was very lovely and the plating was beautiful. I wouldn t come back for the food. We got the cod empanadas, the ceviche, and paella, as well as a margarita. The cod in the empanada was incredibly dry and chewy. The empanada was flat and barely filled. It just fell open. The ceviche was so chewy and salty, and the paella just lacked depth and the mussel I had was dehydrated af and just sad strings. I wish I had taken a photo of it :( overall so disappointed in the food we had ordered. The margarita however was good and I would recommend it.
Ordered a drink and it was awful, then asked for a replacement and they charged me for both drink
Mezcalero, nestled in the heart of Harbord Village at Bloor & Bathurst, is a culinary gem that left my taste buds dancing with delight. With its vibrant and beautifully decorated ambiance, it sets the stage for a memorable dining experience. The tuna tostada, a generous portion of culinary artistry, was a showstopper. The marriage of the fresh tuna and the crispy tostone was a harmonious blend of textures, while the flavors were elevated by the accompanying sauces. The fried chicken was a crispy revelation, with a flavorful punch that had my palate singing. The sweet and slightly spicy sauce provided the perfect balance to each crunchy bite. The octopus dish, served with tender potatoes and a sauce that was nothing short of sublime, showcased the chefs expertise in pairing ingredients to perfection. Now, the paella, available with both chicken and seafood options, is a must-try. Its aromatic, saffron-infused rice and the medley of ingredients transported me to the Mediterranean coast. Mezcaleros cocktail menu is a treasure trove of unique concoctions that tantalize the senses. Its the kind of place youll want to revisit to explore every libation on offer. In conclusion, Mezcalero delivers a culinary experience that is both unforgettable and highly recommended. From the beautifully crafted dishes to the diverse cocktail selection, this restaurant is a true gem in the heart of Toronto. Visit once, and youll find yourself returning time and again to savor its culinary delights. Vegetarian options: Vegetarian options available. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free options available.
The octopus is super bitter, taste like overcooked and utterly inedible. Waitress said it s how it suppose to taste like, but I ve had octopus in many restaurants none taste that bad. I asked for a replacement and they charged me on both dishes. After complaining about it, it took forever for the rest of the food to come, and nobody checked on our table. We have to ask several times for the dessert and when it s served, the cream was almost melted. Also, we were directed to the patio when we wanted to sit indoors, told us the indoor sittings were fully booked. But the whole time we were there, many tables were left empty. With that kinda service, the tipping option is set to be 20% and above. Disappointing.
fantastic food and the service was great! the food came out super fast and the servers were so friendly
Really nice patio setup, as in an actual patio, not just chairs on a sidewalk which is rare for Bloor Street. Vegetarian options: some good veggie options
Was with a table of 6. Everyone s food except for mine came. I would have asked, but we didn t see the server after he took our order. After about an hour, we asked for the bill, but it was a struggle to pay. As we left, the server who took our order walked by without acknowledging us and took his seat back at the bar.
We ordered the dessert, but they forgot to serve it.
We stumbled upon this place by chance. The drinks and food were well made & tasted very fresh. Also loved the ambiance- they had nice chill reggaeton playing in the background. Overall, its a cute date spot. Would visit again!
My bartender Zeke was superb. Friendly, skilled, and makes delicious drinks. Daniella is also a talented server, and super prompt and friendly. Highly recommend the skull flower mezcal martini. Super refreshing and good introduction to newcomers to mezcal.
Excellent food ,the octopus is to die for ,and the service by daniela was out of this world, really good service
Such a great night! The bartender Zeke was so lovely and welcoming. The mezcalrita was so flavourful. Will definitely come back.
Amazing drinks and fast service. Great place for a group of friends to grab drinks! Highly recommend
Without a doubt the best cocktails in Toronto. The bartenders are the most friendly people in the world. 10/10
i came in for a drink and loved the vibe. Super chill and a great place to relax and chat with friends
Love this place, will definitely be coming back. The service was great, our server Denise was very sweet and gave great recommendations. The cocktails were top notch. Tried the octopus and really enjoyed it. We will definitely be back to try the other things on the menu
Fantastic cocktails, and the food was very very tasty, very well prepared and of high quality. The guacamole bar (food photo in my review) was awesome and felt very healthy too. Well done to the team there. The servers were very quick, professional and helpful as well. A very nice cocktail bar overall.
Such an amazing spot for great margs and authentic food. I come at least once a week!
The tequila is great the flights are delicious and the food is great but the music is so loud you can t hear the person beside you but other than that the atmosphere is sophisticated and chill.
So happy this place opened. It has a great vibe and the food and drinks are even better. It gets pretty bar like around 9 or so if that is your scene terrific if not just arrive earlier for dinner. One note, please turn up the heat during happy hour...we had to sit with jackets and hats on. That is why did not rate the atmosphere 5 stars.
The ambiance at this restaurant is truly inviting, creating a wonderful dining experience. The staff provides exceptional, warm service, enhancing the overall atmosphere. Their cocktails are outstanding, offering a perfect blend of flavors that impress. The food is simply amazing, with each dish prepared to perfection. I particularly recommend trying their guacamole bar its a must-have! Highly recommended for a memorable meal. Bartender: Emil. Happy Hr: Steal. 4.5 Star; they might top it. Experience: Dude, friendly guy. 1min at cocktail creations per customer. Def, returning with friends. Attentive to everyone. Vibe: Hella relaxed & on top. Conversation: Easy going and enjoys sharing experience highlights. Happy Hour. $4 Sol Beer & Guacamole bar (so much food.) $20-30.
WOW - cannot recommend this new spot enough! A friend and I had an early dinner during their happy hour and were extremely impressed by the food, cocktails, service, and ambiance. Pictured below is the Guacamole bar thats on special during happy hour (4-6pm) and was a massive portion with so many add ons. We loved the margaritas (also half priced for happy hour!!) and then tried the empanadas, the mexican street corn, the ceviche, and the octopus. We were pleasantly surprised by all the portion sizes - especially because the pricing was also very affordable. The staff were sweet and courteous, were great at providing recommendations, and we loved how cute the trendy the restaurant was. Cant wait to come back again, definitely a must try and a welcome addition to The Annex! Dietary restrictions: Lots of options for my gluten intolerant friend.
This place is wonderful for happy hour! Excellent food and service!
We had no idea what to expect before we got to the restaurant but WOW! This place is truly a hidden gem. Excellent service, knowledgeable bar staff, and delicious food (huge portions for the price!). Charlotte always checked in and made our experience that much better!
Charlotte is the best! Food is fresh ingredients, sauces are unique and full of flavor, light fare. Tapas style but good portions. Perfect for sharing. Decor is beautiful. Good music
The group I was with tried to get a table at two nearby establishments first before discovering Mezcalero nobody could accommodate our party of 7 on a late night Tuesday apparently but we are so glad we did. The atmosphere was perfect for us to have a quiet and lovely night to remember, the drinks were delicious, and the server was super kind and met every need we had with grace. Thank you, hope to be back soon to try the food!
Awesome vibes and killer drinks & foods at this place! Dogus (The bartender) knows his stuff and mix up some seriously good cocktails. Definitely swing by for a good time! Food
Great vibes, great service, great food and drinks. Come through, you wont be disappointed- Denis was lovely but honestly so is everyone who works here.
we love the food here, thanks Deniz
Deniz is such a good server! And the atmosphere here is wonderful! Love the seafood Paella, will definitely come for it again
Loved the ambiance, the restaurant s aesthetics are top notch and their nachos & guacamole are deliciously to die for a little bit of wait time for food but the wait was definitely worth it on that perfectly cooked seafood paella the live salsa dancers definitely made our night Parking: Affordable Street parking & paid parking lot are across the street from the restaurant like I could figuratively spot where my car was parked right from our sitting table at the patio seating of the restaurant.
Beautifully crafted bar, the drinks were exquisite, and the guacamole bar added a delightful touch. Highly recommended!
I had an amazing experience! Definitely Ill be back. Special thanks to Emil and please try their new octopus recipe!!!
Had a great experience here last weekend! Went to grab a drink with a friend, the bartender Dogus recommended some great cocktails. We had the Mezcalarita and Skull Flower! Enjoyed a few apps...and a few more drinks. Will definitely be coming back here again!
Food was awesome and with affordable prices. Portion is very good as well. Definitely worth a try.
Great drinks and amazing atmosphere!!! Our server Olivia was so sweet too we ll definitely be coming back again
I ve never written a review before but I had to for this restaurant!! The food was amazing, super affordable for the quality you get and the service was 10/10. Specifically, our waiter Deniz was so friendly, gave us suggestions so we could try as many different menu items as we could and noticed that it was my friend s birthday so they brought out a free dessert and a candle!! Thank you so much for a great experience
The decor was great and the food portion and quality were really good.

The octopus was great, especially when it served by Deniz, I was also able to chat with her and she was very kind. She has recommended multiple different options after I told her what I like, and it was so easy for me to decide after. Overall, it was a great experience.
I really had a great experience here, the food was amazing
Nice Cocktails. Our sever, Olivia, was great!
Great balcony space and good cocktail selection. Our server, Olivia, was a great hostess.
Amazing place! Love the Latin vibes
The food here was amazing as well as the ambiance. Our server Charlotte was very attentive and knowledgeable. Totally recommend!
Excellent atmosphere, wonderful service, good portions. Good taste! If there is more meat dishes, then it s a solid 5 for us.
This place is bound to become a big locals favourite. Everything is top notch from decor, to quality of drinks, to the menu. I came here for a small birthday dinner with 2 other friends, we got the Experiences option where you get to chose between 6-10 dishes and 4-8 cocktails. Considering that every dish/cocktail costs $15-20, this was a great deal. Nevermind that the price on its own for the quality was already very good. Similar places in Toronto easily charge $20-25 per dish for this. Btw did I mention how GOOD the food was? I see some reviews pointing out the loud or noisy atmosphere. The three of us were there at 8pm on a Friday, with the place packed, and had zero problems communicating, didnt need to yell once. Must try if looking for a pleasant night out and some Mexican cuisine!
Had a private party here for a birthday and everyone had an amazing time. The food, service and drinks were all excellent, and the guests were quite impressed. Will continue coming back here for a long time. Thank you Anthony and Mezcalero Team
Great drinks and service!
Great drinks.
