Japanese and korean fusion sake bar
The absolute best udon I’ve ever had in my life. Im obsessed with the spicy cream udon with seafood. The maze udon and curry udon are also so good. I think the curry one is only available in the Richmond hill location though. Staff are also great.
My partner and I had an incredible late night dining experience! The food was absolutely delicious, with every dish beautifully presented and bursting with authentic flavors. The maze udon was rich and savory. The ambiance was hip and fun, perfect for an after work hangout . The staff were attentive, knowledgeable, and made excellent recommendations. This is hands down one of the good midtown izakaya I have been to. Highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy a top-notch culinary experience!
This izakaya restaurant is one of my personal favorites. I recently revisited it and was delighted to find that the quality of both the food and service remains exceptional. The culinary offerings continue to be delectable, and the staff's prompt attention ensures a consistently enjoyable dining experience. I highly recommend this place to anyone who has yet to experience its culinary delights. While parking may present a slight challenge, there is parking space at the rear of the premises.
Just an average izakaya. Got the Mikaku beef tartare the ball of (ground beef looking) meat was frozen on the inside which was really really strange. Wish there was some sort of carb to eat it with instead of salad. The salads on the appetizers were regular mixed greens with vinaigrette. Otherwise, the rose tteokbokki was pretty good with a lot of other toppings inside such as vegetables and sausage. Wouldn’t come back but I satisfied my curiosity about this place.
A nice dining experience. This beef tartare is very good, the beef is finely cut and seasoned just right, not salty, not light, refreshing and not greasy, very good. Buta is grilled pork belly, slightly salty, not too much meat, and it feels good with drinking. Spicy chicken is spicy, but there's not a lot of chicken, more Onions. The spicy cream udon is really good, read a lot of reviews recommending this, but the mussel has a bit of a strange taste and the shrimp is not very fresh, but the udon does taste good and I love this dish. In addition, the waiters were very good, always can see what I needed, and the napkins were always added before they ran out. Everyone's face is full of smiles and it feels like they are happy when they are working.
We frequent here often. Best bar food with high quality. But without all the north American garbage in it. We have tried many items in the menu and everything is amazing!
Discovered this place by accident. Wonderful Izakaya. Great to meet kind staff. The food is delicious. The flavors really stood out. I really enjoyed the sliced pork with a smokey flavor. The rose teobbokki had that spicy kick to it. Excellent! Keep up the great work chefs!
My sister and I stumbled upon Mikaku Izakaya on Yonge Street, and what a delightful discovery it turned out to be! The inviting ambiance of this Japanese resto-bar instantly drew us in for dinner, and we're so glad we decided to give it a try. From the moment we were seated, the service at Mikaku Izakaya was exceptional. Our server was not only friendly but also extremely helpful in recommending their most popular dishes. This being our first visit, we were excited to try something new. The dish we ordered exceeded our expectations. It came with a salad and a variety of vegetables, which I initially thought I might not enjoy, as I'm not usually a fan of salads. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find myself savoring every bite of the salad and the accompanying veggies. The secret, I believe, was the incredible sauce that elevated the flavors to a whole new level. It was so delicious that I couldn't resist finishing every last bite.
Used to be a 5 star restaurant to me since 2 years ago but visited recently and they changed the salad dressing on me. Dressing now tastes much more generic, overdressed and does not pair well with their protein dishes. Their previous dressing had a balanced acidic/sweetness that I would have purchased in a bottle. Also ordered their salmon tataki and the slices were paper thin - you can see through them into the plate. They were also doused with sauce so all you could taste was the dressing. The maze udon and tartare were still tasty but I was too disappointed by the salad change
I visited last night. I ordered 8 dishes and all of them was amazing. Every single food was great plating and delicious. I must come back soon !!
The ambiance of this izakaya is similar to nearby spots like Anji or Mokutan. I tried the oden soup and grilled squid with butter. The food was average.
Great hang out spot with friends. Food is great and staff are friendly. Place to chill and chat.
big portions, yummy food. shimesaba, butter squid, and the salad of the tartare were really good
Awful steak tartare
I particularly like their spicy cream udon, highly recommended! ! adore! too delicious!
Good food and attentive staff.
The best izakaya in TRT. Highly recommended, but the wait is quite long. Still worth it.
Wonderful good vibes great drinks
Mikaku-chan It s so delicious
Favourite izakaya in Toronto, my favourite is beef tartare and maze udon
Excellent food. Been to a couple Izakayas and Mikaku have unlocked the next dimension in taste. The spicy chicken was the star of the show for us. Good vibe. Only downside is it can get crowded. Patio was cozy too. 10/10 recommend. Food
I wanted to eat more but my stomach said its full.
Must order: Pork belly and marinated mackerel. Can skip: Tonkatsu and grilled squid.
My favourite Izakaya in the area. The food is amazing and the atmosphere is great at most times. Some patrons get pretty loud after a few drinks but its to be expected. Parking: There is plenty of parking in the back parking lot.
I tried this place for the first time with a friends recommendation and from seeing all the delicious pictures circulating online. This place sports a nice night chill vibe with Korean and Japanese food fusions and drinks. We ordered a lot of items to share and they were all super delicious. My favourite of the night was definitely the Spicy Cream Udon. The sauce lived up to its name and was super creamy and flavourful, I just couldnt stop eating it. Definitely want to come back here again for more and maybe even order a drink to pair with it.
Good food, nice spot to go to if you re looking for a restaurant open during late hours.
Really delicious and creative
The food we ordered was delicious and the service was great! All my foreign friends also enjoyed it.
Been here twice, great experience both times. Great food, quick, and lovely staff.
The food is here is amazing too many great dishes here. If you can handle spicy food get the spicy chicken. The noodles are amazing here.
Absolutely delicious!
What a great spot especially for a light, late night eat! I ve been seeking out spots that offer healthier options for late night eats and Mikaku hits the nail on the head! Beyond that, the serve from Miyoung and the rest of the staff really made our dining experience extremely memorable and enjoyable! The beef tartare and takowasabi were among my favourite! Even the fried dishes such as the yuzu karaage were very lightly battered and didn t taste overly oily. I felt super satisfied after my meal! Definitely adding Mikaku to my list of got to restaurants!
Love this place since I first time visiting! The food never disappoints me but 4star for the uber eat menu doesnt have all the item there, hopefully they put the missing item there then I will put this to 5 star! I personally recommend theirs udon and the poke belly ! And I love the side dish and salad too !
Very good. We will come again!
This place is just awesome! Nice people and very tasty food and open late.
Excellent food.
So good beef tarte feel like i am in japan love it
Hands down the best Izakaya in North York. They dont take reservations (at least on weekends) but this place is definitely worth the wait. There isnt anything about the food to complain about, everything was absolutely stellar. The menu isnt very extensive which makes it easy to choose from. Service can be a bit spotty during peak hours, but that is to be expected. Prices were pretty standard compared to similar places in the area. The intimate environment made mikaku a very cozy and comfortable place for food and drinks with some friends. I definitely would come back.
Excellent izakaya in north york. Atmosphere is great as izakaya. Food is amazing with various selection of sake. I really like the grilled caramari and the creamy udon. The oden soup is abit on the salty msg side.
Good Food and Good Ambience! Excellent place!
Overall great experience. It s our first time trying out this izakaya. We have seen many IG post about this place. We parked at the back parking lot and went in from the back door. Staff is welcoming and we were lucky to get a table without any wait. We were seated near the entrance and the staff was very caring to provide me with blanket and turned on the heater. Food is on the more expensive side for uptown standard and we were very disappointed that the sake we wanted is not available; however, the whole experience/ atmosphere/ service make up for it. The beef tartare is pretty frozen when it was served. We had to wait a bit before we enjoy it. The pork belly is bite size and good for sharing with large group. Grill saba is pretty regular, nothing outstanding. I probably wont order this again.
Tried spicy creamy Udon and beef Tataki tonight, they taste good but definitely are overpriced. The portion is too small for an adult lol
I was excited to try this restaurant after seeing its 4.5/5 rating, but unfortunately it fell short of my expectations. We decided to dine here since Nome Izakaya was closed today. The restaurant was quite empty when we arrived around 7 pm, but quickly filled up after we were seated. The waitress was very friendly and provided good service. For our meal, we ordered the spicy creamy udon, sliced pork belly seared (buta), beef tartare bowl on rice, and chicken karaage. The spicy creamy udon was flavorful and creamy, just as promised. You could taste the layers of the dish, starting with fried pork belly (similar to bacon) layered with vegetables, whole garlic cloves, and cream. However, I found the dish a bit too heavy on umami flavor, which leads me to believe that it may contain added MSG. One downside was the whole garlic cloves, which were a bit unpleasant and could be better with sliced garlic. The beef tartare rice dish, unfortunately, was unsatisfactory. I was expecting a simple dish with just beef tartare, an egg, and a little sauce to bind it together. However, I received a large portion of box salad and gochuchang sauce. The gochuchang overpowered the dish, and I could barely taste the beef tartare. I think a lighter hand with the gochuchang would greatly improve the dish. The chicken karaage had a nice texture, and you could taste the aromatics in the marinade. However, the plate was half-filled with salad, which was a bit excessive for a side dish. While the presentation was attractive, the amount of salad was unnecessary, and I was able to make a full plate of salad from the leftovers from the buta and karaage alone. The buta dish was the most disappointing of all. It arrived when we had already finished everything else, and I was hoping they had forgotten about my order. Unfortunately, the dish was extremely charred and had an overwhelming perfume of burnt flavor. The char was likely due to incomplete combustion of the gas, caused by holding the torch too close to the pork belly. The smell was nauseating and made it almost too difficult to eat. Overall, the dining experience was decent but could use some improvement. I appreciated the friendly service and the creative dishes, but the execution of some dishes could be improved.
The food here was great. We had the spicy creamy udon. It was spicier than they had said so keep that in mind if you dont like spice. The honey butter squid was the star of the night. The sauce was so good that Ill be back just for that. Lol. The pork belly was nice and the yuzu chicken is worth mentioning too. The service was friendly but not very attentive. We will be back.
Food is great and service is outstanding! I highly recommend the cream cheese rice cake, one of my favourite.
Excellent services and foods Highly recommended!!Must go place
Food: the chef seems to think putting butter in every dish will make them taste better. I ordered 3 dishes, cabbage in the unagi was sautéd in lots of butter, the cream sauce for the rice cake also had a lot of butter. I was not impressed by the food. All the meat dishes I ordered had sweetish sauce on them (e.g. sweet cream sauce, sweet vinaigrette reduction). Service: only got one round of water, didnt get a water jug refill even when we asked. So that wasnt great either Atmosphere: standard Asian Izakaya vibe, low key but pleasant.
The fusion style udong bar Ive never tasted in my life. They were seriously awesome! If you are looking for something new and delicious, try it.
Great service but I thought the interior was a little dark. We got the Maze udon, kaarage (meat size could be bigger), tonkatsu, and the ebi mayo with shrimp chips. Sadly, the grilled butter squid was not available. Would recommend this place.
Great ambience for girls night!
Korean style izakaya. The spicy creamy udon: the flavour is very very creamy not spicy at all. The grilled squid: squid was very fresh, but the teriyaki sauce on the top was too sweet. Service: their service is really quick and welcoming. Overall, all the food we tried was toooo way sweet, but would come back again to try other food.
Great food and vibes!
Walk in, order the grilled butter squid, eat, leave a better person. Doesn t matter if you come alone or with others. Honestly the best grilled squid I have ever had.
I am obsessed with the food at this place. FOOD: (menu recently changed) The food is amazing, creative and tasty. Its not at all super salty like other izakaya to get you buy more drinks. I really want to try the rest of the menu and definitely will come back for the food. DRINKS: theres a long list of sake and other drinks but quite pricey so I go with the beer only. VIBE: small area but chill and cozy vibe. SERVICE: decent and friendly
Good
Best izakaya in the area! Highly recommend their grilled butter squid, unagi, beef tartare and buta!
I was excited to try this restaurant after seeing its high ratings. It didn t really hit my expectations coming in. We decided to dine in for a late night snack with some drinking. The restaurant was quite empty when we arrived around 9 pm. The waitress was very friendly! We ordered the seafood platter and it felt very weak and flavourless. We ordered the eel as well and I thought it was too sweet. The pricing I felt kinda expensive for the portions they give.
Food was tasty! My favorite was the udon. Service was a little slow when I went, especially to get the bill.
Recommend their spicy seafood udon soup. It s pretty spicy so care for that. Great service, waitresses were nice and helpful.
Pretty nice Korean Izakaya. Food is a fusion of Japanese and Korean. The staff was very nice and friendly.
Love this place!!!
everything good
Highly recommended! My family enjoyed it very much. Excellent service from Staff & Amazing Food. Definitely, going back to try other dishes in the menu. Looking forward to our next visit. Food : 5/5 |
The food was divine! We got the tartare, grilled squid and one of the udons and we were stuffed! Service also was so friendly and attentive. Will be back! :)
I wanted to leave a really good review because its a Korean restaurant, but I dont think this is the right one, so Im writing this. I feel bad even as Im leaving this. First of all, the workers are really friendly and helpful even though they are busy, and the food is delicious! But I dont think you should be able to receive guests at this place. There were more dishes piled up and they were washing the dishes for over 10 minutes. It was disgusting because it was right in front. The food was so bad and the sound was so loud... I was shocked. All places are good except this one.
maze udon and spricy cream undo are best and all food are good suggest order squid mikaku beef tartare buta
Very nice restaurant. The music is relatively loud, making it a bit difficult to hold a conversation. Service was very very good. Very friendly and also very helpful. The taste of the food was very good. However, the portions are relatively small for the price
Good tasting food, quick service, and atmosphere is cute. The dishes are larger than typical izakaya so you cannot order many dishes. The yuzu deep fried chicken is just karaage with a yuzu sauce on the side.
I go often because the food is generally delicious. The yellow-haired server was so friendly that I felt good while drinking!
The food was great. Rice cake was very flavourful. The makrel sashimi was the best I ever had
Great food! Every dish we ordered was fantastic! Parking: Free parking on the backside. Food : 5/5 |
This place became my go-to place in North York. Their service is wonderful and the food is just amazing! I would recommend this place if you want to try Japanese food with sake!
This place is relatively smaller than others, but the service and the dishes are the best. I love all the dishes I ordered last night, the chef definitely did a good job. Chicken, pork, beef and udon are awesome, basically nothing you should be missed. I think there are some dishes that are off the menu and you may want to ask the server ahead. There are parking spaces at the rear of the restaurant as well and you may access the back door. The only thing I hope for is to have more options of non alcoholic beverages, so that customers could still hang out to the fun while they couldnt drink alcohol under certain physical conditions.
THE place to go for tako wasabi. blows ur head off, in a great way
Best udon in the area!
Food here is absolutely delicious, and the service is amazing as well. Highly recommend their beef tartar, a must-eat every time. Their grilled butter squid is one of the best I ve ever had! Their sake selection is decent too. Even though it s an Izakaya, the quality of the food is extremely high and definitely worth the trip!
Food is great at mikaku! We ordered the pork belly and the spicy cream udon which are both a must get. The pork belly is salty and smokey and the udon is creamy and slightly sweet. Staff are super sweet and accommodating. The restaturant space is small so you might have to wait during peak times for a table.
The cream udon is really delicious... I hope the wait will be reduced as the store grows!!
My partner and I went there for Valentines Day dinner. It was an amazing experience! It was an hour wait but it was worth it to get in and their food is very delicious. The staff are amazing and very friendly. Highly recommended
Be prepared to wait.. but MAN is it worth the wait!!! SO FRICKEN GOOD. I m so glad I came here. Great variety of sake and every single food item was perfect I can t wait to go back and try more of their menu items!
One of my favourite izakaya
This is such a hidden gem. If it wasn t for the reviews, I wouldn t have ever discovered this place. We ordered udon, beef tataki ,squid, pork belly, and kaarage. All were so good!! Definitely recommended.
An excellent izakaya deserving of its high reviews here. The service is very nice and thoughtful, giving us extra details like where the washroom is and that the bar has no seating limit unlike the tables without prompting, and were consistent in checking in with us throughout our stay there. The food too is SO good, I really would want to come back to try some other dishes. The tartar was very flavorful and the fried cheese delicious as well. The creamy rice cakes in the bread bowl was really unique and filling with seafood and vegetables, and the crispy outside bread with the soft cream soaked inside bottom paired really well together. They also dont skimp out on the portions. We also got one of the yuzu sake bottle to share which was refreshing - unfortunately the peach and pear ones were sold out. Overall, definitely worth coming for a good time and good food!
Interesting dishes. Service was good too
Amazing food. Great place for a date or with friends. The small area creates a cozy vibe for a Friday evening.
taste really good and service and price also good just the parking lot is not easy to find
Been here twice and I love every dishes so far one of the best Korean beef tartare (without pear) in Toronto, definitely must try! All creamy udon on the menu are delectable
Amazing service and beef tartare. Best Izakaya in Toronto.
Excellent Izakaya with friendly service and delicious food. Free parking at the back.
Food was very good. Got takoyaki, beef tartar, and creamy udon. Food was well sauced. High quality ingredients used. Flavours well layered. And service was very solid. A bit on the pricy side, as expected of Izakaya. Would recommend and repeat. 5 stars
The entrance is small, so it s easy to miss this popular izakaya if you don t pay close attention! There are not many seats in the store, so I was lucky enough to sit in a small box in the corner near the door. I took off my shoes and sat cross-legged. There was a heater on the wooden board, which was warm and comfortable! There are also many menu choices. It is said to be an izakaya, and the snacks and staple food are not overwhelming at all! [Raw Beef Salad] The beef is not fishy at all, the meat flavor and salad vegetables blend in your mouth, refreshing and delicious! [Japanese-style wasabi octopus] There are many appetizers and snacks available in izakaya, and they are basically good. [Scallop skirt salad] is similar to what you eat in Japanese restaurants, chewy, slightly sour and appetizing. [Spicy Mussel Soup] It s super refreshing to drink on a cold day, spicy and fresh. Although the mussels are small, the meat is tender and juicy! [Cheese Spicy Rice Cake] A very traditional Korean delicacy. The rice cake is delicious when it is freshly made and eaten. It is glutinous and delicious, and the brushed cheese is a bonus! Paired with Internet-famous grapefruit soju, it is fragrant, sweet, ice-cold, and refreshing. The fragrance of grapefruit makes this late-night snack the icing on the cake. Overall, I feel that the popularity is well-deserved, the taste, sales, etc. are quite good, and the atmosphere is good. It s a good place for young friends to meet up, chat, eat and drink. It is very crowded on weekends and is only open at night. Don t come to lunch in vain
Great place, food are delicious. I have been eat out for many years, I don t cook. After many restaurants and dishes, finally there is restaurant that I want to go back.
I don t have anything bad to say about Mikaku. Good service and great food. All dishes were good. Surprisingly for me the beef tartar was one of my favourites. It s packed with flavour and didn t taste like just chopped up beef on a plate like some other places. But I have to say the star dish has to go to the cheesy rice cakes. It was sooooooooo good. Taste like a creamy onion mushroom sauce and comes with a nice crispy cracker. And another memorable dish they do well here is the takoyaki. Even their side pickled cucumbers were really good. Basically all the dishes I had were YUMMM. I will totally come back here and will be bringing my friends along.
food tastes really great.
Discovered this nice spot during peak pandemic with my friends. Drinks and food are top of the lineeeee.
Best rice cake and cream udon I ve ever had
First time visitor. Tried a number of dishes for take out. The raw beef was very fresh. Overall all the dishes were outstanding taste. Very attentive service by the staffs. Appreciate every corner and design of the place. Definitely going back.
Me and my friends waited for 20mins they called at 7:31pm we entered the place at 7:33 then they said the place is gone??????? I wanna know what kinda of place that give their customers so little time to go inside. What a joke.
Poor service!
Very good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Excellent service! Definitely coming back for the spicy creamy udon.
The waiter didnt give me water for 40 minutes and I asked twice before giving it. There is nothing special about the dishes. The portions are small and it is more expensive than the same izakaya. After waiting for more than an hour for a dish, the dishes for the latecomers next door were all served. When I asked what was going on, I was told that the kitchen didnt prepare them.
If its full and youre asked to wait, go somewhere else. Waited 3 hours when they said they expected a spot to open up in 1 hour. I dont think they had a time limit on seating so why even give that estimate? Sat down and got served a pitcher of water with no cups after 15 minutes. Was I supposed to pick it out with chopsticks? Waited for service for another 25 min at which I just got up and left because it was already late. Food looked great, wish I could have had some
Good
Top notch Japanese Izakaya in Toronto!! All staff were nice and welcoming us, food is amazing especially beef tartar and cream Udon!!! They are so flavourful, I would definitely come back for other food and sake!!!
Spicy cream udon is the best!!!!! You have to try it! Service was good and friendly Nice atmosphere Taco wasabi & Beef Tartare rice bowl was good.
Had higher expectations. Staff was nice but food was just okay. Chicken karaage was plain/nothing special. Ebi mayo was also just okay. Garden salad was whatever. Salmon tataki was good but still nothing too special.
Maze udon 5/5 Assorted seafood platter 3.5/5 Yuzu chicken 4/5 Service friendly, nice vibes indoors. I will definitely revisit and try more food
Unable to communicate with the waiter in English. Fluency in Korean are require to dine in. Waiter will skip you on the waitlist after waiting for an hour. And the only explanation you will get is sorry. Waiting in the kitchen is recommended if you wanna keep ur spot and have dinner with your friends there.
Cant go wrong with the spicy cream udon and the deep fried cartilage.
Music is so noisy. Spicy cream udon is too sweet and do not order spicy chicken .
Amazing unagi, pork, and rice.
Visited it twice already. Definitely recommend the beef tataki and spice udon. One of best from their dishes. Service is 4/5. The servers are attentive and passionate. Especially the tall male. But they somehow, when we ordered beer and beans, forgot to add them to our order twice. Not a big deal, just human error. Overall it deserves 5/5
Very high quality Izakaya in Toronto, with so tasty food and very friendly staff!!! Definitely would come again!
Great food
Every time I go, I feel good thanks to the servers! Be kind to everyone, without exception. The food is really delicious too! But I wish the servers would wear warm clothes. Dress cold even in the winter, and its cold in the summer at night.
Easily one of my favourite restaurants in the GTA. Definitely get the beef tartare here. Well balanced and inventive dishes! Also the salad and dressing for it are fantastic.
Nice patio dine in. An interesting Korean style Izakaya.
Delicious food, exactly what youd expect from a restaurant in the Yonge/Steeles area with very attentive and helpful staff. Seating and service was quick! Taste: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Setting: 5/5 Value: 5/5 We ordered the Mikaku Beef Tartare, Buta, and the Spicy Cream Udon. The dishes came very quickly and they were all unique in their tastes and experiences! The Spicy Cream Udon was the highlight of the dinner. The sauce with the udon was absolutely delicious and the cream married each ingredient together very well. The seafood was fresh and well portioned, and it honestly blew most of the other udon bars out of the water. Highly recommend this dish. The Beef Tartare was also interesting and tasted very good, but be aware that the texture wont appeal to everyone! The quail egg added a very nice touch to mix the beef tartare together with the rest of the dish together well, and the sauce mixed in gave it an interesting experience! The Buta was flavored very well and the presentation was very well done - we couldnt wait to dig in! But be warned, the pork is sliced quite thin, so treat this more like an appetizer than a main course!
Food was delicious! Highly recommend the buta udon soup and kaarage chicken
We heard many good things about Mikaku and were so excited to try. Unfortunately we didn t feel the food met the hype/expectations. The food was decent for the price. The squid was nice, but not anything special. The chicken karaage felt more like popcorn chicken to me. It wasn t terrible but I didn t think it was worth the price and I definitely had better karaage elsewhere. The maze udon was okay as well but can t say it was anything special either. The best part of the restaurant was the server. He was very attentive and provided us with great service! If it was just the food, I would rate the overall experience a 3/5 but would give it a 4/5 because of the service.
Get there early or prepared to wait. Everything was pretty good. Best is the udon dishes and pork belly. Portion sizes on the smaller end.
Excellent Korean Japanese fusion that gets more amazing with friends. The cream seafood udon is a must have when visiting this place.
Delicious. Their pasta was fabulous.
It was delicious and had a nice atmosphere, so it was a good place.
It is really amazing. I love their food
I would rate this place 0 if I could. Don t waste your time coming to this place. My friends and I were in Toronto for vacay and wanted to try this place out but when we came in wanting a table for 5, the staff ran to the back and started pointing while laughing at our group. Honestly if you re anything other than Korean or can speak their language they are very unwelcoming and judgemental. Don t even waste your time.
Had these dishes in the pictures and karaage and the food was meh. The portion is about half of what most restaurants eat and wasnt impressed with the food nor the ambience. I been to many izakayas and this one wasnt that great overall, I rather go to another izakaya.
I like this place very much, the atmosphere is good, the food is delicious, but the place is a bit crowded, and you have to line up often. They did mess up my bill once because i didnt check the bill and they charged me for something i didnt order, but still 5 star tho
They were busy even on Monday. The servers and food were great. Nice atmosphere to have some drinks.
We seat there trying to order for 20minutes, the server saw me couple times but did answer at all, it is a good place to waste time.
The renovation and menu look great but don t expect service in the place because they don t provide service to every customer. This is a good place to test your patience. The server won t respond to you even when you yell in the restaurant (pure ignorance).
This is one of my favoire Izakaya in Toronto. Wonderful food and awesome service.
Food is always strong recommend :-), quite nice place.
Friendly and nice staffs. Their foods are the best. I love their foods. I highly recommend this place to all to you guys.
Food is not bad. If you have a party of 5 or more, I suggest you not to go. We were there at 5:30pm when the restaurant is empty. We asked for a table for 7 and we were given a table for 4 only. If the restaurant dont take reservation, isnt it supposed to be first come first serve? They refused to even give us a table for 6. They said their restaurant will be full and have lineup. It turned out thats not the case. How can people eat comfortably with all the food jammed together on the table with no spare table space?
Great vibes and udoon is great
Good
We arrived at 7:30 on a Saturday evening and got seated within 30 min for a table of 2. We ordered grilled pork belly and creamy seafood udon which were our favourite and would definitely recommend! However, we also got the yuzu karaage which was a bit bland and the yuzu is more like a puree as opposed to a dip. We also got the beef tartare rice bowl which was too saucy. Overall, service was great & friendly!
Visited on a Saturday night and I was lucky to get a seat in this bijou restaurant. There was some stools next to the wall because the bar seats were being employed for paperwork, yet there was one table outside. I see there are some heaters available when it gets cold. There is a comprehensive menu, much bigger than the one for the Mikaku in Richmond Hill. In addition, there was a comprehensive sake selection. I went for the ebi mayo and they were very good. Presented on a bed of salad and shrimp crackers, the sauce and the shrimp tasted excellent. Although the menu had a large selection of sake a few were out of stock although I think youll find one to your liking and there is a guide with tasting descriptions to help you. For an entree I chose the donkatsu, it was okay. Served with a salad (which was good) yet, you need to order rice. The menu had some dishes which look very interesting and the beef tartar was a popular choice. I did notice that there was a line up during the evening and I spoke to one person who had an hours wait, so reservations are recommended. The staff were rushed off their feet. They were friendly and efficient, yet, looked short staffed. One interesting feature was inside the door was a traditional low dining table that would have been fun to be placed there.
Food is consistent and flavours are pretty good! Service could be improved but I typically enjoy my visit here.
Food was good but wish the portions were a bit bigger for the price
Their service is perfect.
We called and ask if they have a table for 6. The waitress said yes and all 6 people came. We all come within 15 mins. I know there is a first come first serve policy, but if we called and said we will come, can they at least do a 15 mins reservation? All 6 of us came and need to find another restaurant. An inflexible restaurant won t be a good creative Izakaya. Very disappointed
This place gets quite busy so definitely plan some time to wait. I had to call them back since we waited a while and they said they called me many times and my phone didnt work. I was just glad they were able to accomodate us eventually. Service was good and the food came very quickly. The menu isnt too much which is great so its easy to pick off items from the menu. Food was so good and I especially enjoyed buta and beef tataki! Portions were a little smaller for the price.
The food is not bad but the service is poor. We wanted to sit in the dinning room but all the seats were full at the time. So we sat at the bar first. But after 10 minutes, one spot was empty. We asked to be moved to that seat. The waitress said there was someone lineup so they couldnt move us. But at that time there was no one waiting. Also when we were checking out, they cant do separate bills. The reason she gave was, Sorry, were busy.... Our systems are busy. Thats ridiculous, that reason makes no sense! Although the food is good, I wont come again because of the bad service!
Do not come to this place! There is one waitress is racist . When we asked her for service, she always pretended to be busy and ignored us. At first we sat at the bar, because my friend and I ordered a lot of food, so we asked if we could change seats, but the reason she gave was that there were people lineup and couldn t change for us, funny thing is there was no one lining at that time. finally we had to Sit at the bar where the food is all piled up in a small spot. A very bad time.
The staffs are very friendly and their cream udon is the best :)
Excellent food. Extensive sake menu. Extravagant atmosphere. Entertaining service. Best Izakaya in Toronto
A small and delicates patio ~ recommend to people want to have a drink and small appetizers
Rating on the service, not the food. We called to make a reservation at 7:40pm and no one picked up. We ended up going anyway because my girlfriend really wanted to try the place out. The waiters basically ignored us while we waited in line for 30 minutes where they finally asked us if we have an appointment. We told them we didn t and they asked us to leave our name and they will call us when a spot becomes available (no one in front of us). After leaving our number, we left and waited in the car for another 30min without a call. Eventually we went back because we thought it was weird that we haven t received a call yet. Turns out they started seating ppl without appointments who came after us lol.
This place is lit
really nice place for a couple of drinks, cozy and nice! Food is good too! But remember this place is a Izakaya so their food portion is for drinking snacks size..
One of my go-to places for consistently good korean/japanese fusion foods and delicious sakes. Staff and owner are always friendly!
Such a nice food, drink, service and mood. Im recommending this place to the alllll of my friends! Amazing :D
good vibes, good food (I like particularly like the cream udon); Lily is a fantastic server. just fyi, they dont accept AMEX.
Perfect experience! Love spicy and creamy seafood udon
I wish I could give them more than just five stars! Absolutely amazing place with a great food and friendly staff. While all the restaurants around were empty, this one operated on their full capacity and still all the waiters were very attentive to all our requests. We will return back for sure.
Great food, although a bit pricy, and great service!!
Everything I ordered is so good! I even forgot to take photos. Must try - spicy cream udon, Yuzu fried chicken
Truly exceptional food. Eclectic dishes with top presentation.

Amazing food. Prefect enjoy
Weve been visiting ever since the restaurant opened. One of our favourites in North York! The rice cake dish is amazing, seafood udon is tasty, and service is great. Always a go to place when we want Korean food!
Good food and service at the patios

Nice patio, fantastic for group of friends. Staff are friendly, the food was great. Like this place.
Pretty good
love the food here (their cream udon is the best) but they take a long time to cook the food. the server forgot one of our order last time. I think they should have one more server for patio because they were so busy and it was hard to get their attention
Great food and customer service
Excellent food, entwined with Incredible hospitality.
