Good lunch specials. Editing now years later. So I have been eating here for years. The service, value, quality, of new generation is consistently top notch. Best Japonese restaurant in Toronto! Literally my favourite! I always try and go there at least once a week, and its the highlight of my week. The price is very good for the quality of the food, and the service is just amazing! Would definetly recommend!

LOVED the maki. Big portions. Thanks for the recommendation. Very friendly and attentive. The only thing was that the beef in bento box had some tough dry parts that couldnt be chewn and the taste wasnt just as good as other things on the menue. But overall amazing experience thank you.

The food was amazing and fresh, their miso soup is to die for. A very reasonable price for both food and drinks. I cant wait to go back!! I highly recommend this spot!

I come here once a week minimum. The fish is always high quality. The portions are big and the prices are good. I have yet to find a better casual sushi spot in Toronto. This is also my favourite fast and affordable lunch and dinner spot in the city. The staff is super friendly and everything is super consistent always. They often offer me a free ice cream. Cant recommend highly enough. The lunch special is a great deal.

Another hidden gem on bloor! Their food came with big portion with affordable price and it was delicious! The tempura don was absolutely impressive for me and I d recommend everyone to try it. The most excellent thing about this place is their staff! They served us ice cream after the meal and packed our leftovers nicely! We were all impressed by their service! The female staff with short hair who chitchat with us was so lovely too :) this will be our forever beloved Japanese restaurant in Toronto, a lot of loves from Edmontonians, oilers hehe <3

I have been coming to this restaurant for just over 10 years. The food has always been consistently good, and the atmosphere welcoming. The service staff does well to make you feel welcome. There can sometimes be a line, but its worth the wait. Overall a good place to eat.

The food was good and the service was great and far, we got miso soup and ice cream for free. Our servers were very friendly and patient with us. This place has been there for a long time, nothing really fancy but a nice food experience. One more thing: they should use another brand of soy sauce as the one they have is extremely salty!

I have to highlight that the customer service is definitely excellent, they were always friendly and very attentive, In addition to the fact that the portions are large and everything is very delicious, we ordered sashimi and everything is very fresh and with large pieces. The sushi roll is delicious, I will definitely return to this place and be a frequent customer.

New Generation Sushi is a lovely place. We have been customers for many years and will keep coming back. The food is always fresh and the service is quick. Make sure that you try their salmon roses (salmon sashimi with mayo), they are delicious!

Kind staff. Had the salmon set, was pretty good. The salmon sushi doesnt melt in your mouth like higher quality salmon. The spicy salmon maki was good as always. Miso soup is also great as always. From previous experiences, their don bowls are okay, no intense flavour. Would recommend if in the area craving sushi.

Fresh and delicious sushi, every time! Quality has been consistent for over a decade. Prices are good, staff are wonderful, and everything is tasty. The salmon set is the perfect amount of food for a solid dinner, and the lunch specials are a guaranteed win!

Greatly priced and delicious sushi

Very disappointing, low quality bland food (so as not to call it sushi). I ordered the 75 piece platter, which was mostly single ingredient pieces, like the cucumber roll with big chunks and a little rice you can see. Same thing with the salmon and all the other pieces. I ve had better tasting sushi from the ready made boxes at convenience stores. The sashimis were low quality flavourless cuts and the soy sauce was very bitter and salty. The miso soup was good though, so thankfully my 85$ didn t completely go to waste. Did I mention they offer a free side if you pay cash? The reviews really set the expectation higher for me. I wouldn t eat there again if it was free.

Been coming to this restaurant for years and has been my goto place to take family and friends. Food has become slightly more expensive (but what hasnt?), but at least they dont give you less food like some other places. Glad to report the food quality is still excellent. Ive tried everything on the menu but easily my favourite is their lunch special short rib bento box, which includes miso soup, some California rolls, tempura, short ribs, and rice. The picture below was actually the chicken katsu bento because I accidentally dug into my short ribs bento too quickly . Service is great. Enthusiastic servers who will check in on you and make sure your cups remain full. The atmosphere feels warm and comfortable. 10/10 recommend this place for dates or heart-to-hearts. Also, they have Godzilla on the wall pretty much ever since they opened, which is cool. 10/10 Godzilla wouldnt destroy this restaurant.

I ve gone to my fair share of sushi places, but this one really hits the spot. Beyond the kind and warm staff, every dish is spectacular. The salmon and tuna sashimi especially were so fresh and satisfying. Beef short ribs are also a must. 11/10, highly recommend.

Whenever I want a good Bento Box and comforting sushi, I go here! The Ume Box is usually what I always get! It is one of my most delicious bento boxes and definitely worth every penny. It comes with so much food that I always have to ask for take out boxes at the end of my meal. I always upgrade the sushi for only $2 and get beef maki or shrimp tempura maki. You also get a miso soup and salad all for under $20. The customer service is always great - all the staff is so friendly and if you need anything they are always so quick to get it! Highly recommend eating here for lunch or dinner if you are in the Bloor St area. Theres some street parking and also a green P right across the street.

I have been here many times for lunch. The food is always fresh, presently beautifully, and their customer service is top-notch. Been coming here since 2003, this is definitely the best & the original Sushi Restaurant in the Annex that gives you the greatest value for your money, and theyve outlasted many other sushi restaurants that have come & gone on the strip.

I usually order the green dragon + spicy salmon set for lunch. It is really good and tastes fresh. The set is well priced. The service staff is friendly and I have never been disappointed.

Delicious fresh sushi. Loved every kind and flavor that we ordered: spicy California, spicy salmon, red dragon, shrimp tempura. Miso soup was delicious as always. Panko fried vegetable fritters and Salmon were way too oily. Chicken stir fry bento box was just ok.

Well, it was your typical Saturday night as anyone would expect. Party of 4. Seated. Ordered. Food came out well and delicious and fresh but there was one person that made all the difference and that person was Christine. Her shine and bubbly personality went above and beyond to heights to not only give us her personally stash of hot chilli oil from Thailand, but her down to earth hospitality to provide off menu beverages is astounding and in simple terms, benevolent. I, for one, will never forget this once in a life time experience. And yes, I am talking about New Generation sushi on Bloor!

Went here in the afternoon so they had lunch specials. I tried the salmon teriyaki, the vegetables and the salmon were seasoned very well and were nicely crunchy. For the sushi items I tried the oyster roll, spider roll and the ume maki, they all tasted freshly made. The staff were really friendly and the restaurant vibe was comfortable. They had dividers to separate different diners so it felt private. I think they had an open kitchen concept so customers could hear the chefs chat which was entertaining. Would definitely consider going here again.

We couldnt be happier with our dining experience. The 5 piece sushi (chef choices), beef teriyaki bento, and beef udon were all outstanding in their own right. The freshness and taste of the ingredients truly shone through, making every bite a delightful journey for the palate. If youre a fan of Japanese cuisine, I highly recommend giving these dishes a try. You wont be disappointed!

Chirashi Don was good (freshness, size of cut, presentation). The Spicy California roll was OK; main issue was the artificial crab in all the dishes was a touch dried and string. The special deep fried roll (not on the menu) was tasty and well made. Overall roll craftsmanship was a touch sloppy (uneven pieces, spotty (not even) rice coverage. The red bean ice-cream was nice but a touch on the crystalized side. Overall I did enjoy the meal. It was reasonable for a random drop in.

Been a while since Ive come to New Gen, but it used to be a staple of mine some time ago. Glad to see things havent changed. Prices are still very reasonable, food was fantastic and service was stellar. Unfortunately did not take pics as I wanted my focus to be on the company I brought. Did not catch the name of my service, but gentleman with short/shaved hair. Very attentive but not overbearing and extremely welcoming and polite. Will be back!

I really, really enjoyed my time at New Generation. The service was great and the environment was nice and quiet. The real highlight was the sashimi. It was super fresh and delicious. I actually haven t had sashimi that fresh in a long time. We ordered a couple rolls and the sashimi diamond platter to share, as well as tempura, karaage, edamame, and sake. They gave us a couple miso soups on the house and I believe the meal came with a complimentary scoop of ice cream. This is definitely one of my favourite places for sushi in the Annex. Would definitely recommend!

One of the best sushi places on the strip! The quality and quantity of food is great among the strip of food places near Bathurst Station. The price is decently affordable and also the service is impeccable! During the pandemic (stage 3), New Generation Sushi adapted to the demand and does not do their usual All-You-Can-Eat but went straight to their standard menu items. We ordered Edamame, Makimono Set A (6pc of Tuna, Salmon & California Maki) and NewGen Grill Bento (Grilled short ribs and chicken, gyoza and seafood tempura and rice + 8pcs crunch roll, 2pcs salmon sashimi and salmon sushi). Both came with soup and salad! With the amount of food that came to our table, we were absolutely startled that it was less than $60 total not including tip. With the amount of food we got, we had get our food to-go! The service we got was impeccable! The staff were all very nice, followed up with us constantly and gave us water when we didnt ask. They were absolutely professional and we were served constantly as food came out or they checked-in with us if the service was good. We also got extra plates when they noticed we were sharing (without us asking)! The staff also helped us bagged out food to-go and was very kind and thorough even as we have cashed out seeing if we needed any more water. They also sanitized the tables and had clear dividers (with coloured tabs for accessibility/visibility) as well for protocol.

Cant beat this spot for the best value sushi around town. Ive been going to their old location when I was still in school. Recently went back to this new spot and Im so happy to see them still around after the pandemic. Same great quality Ive experienced in the past. Awesome spot for a sushi meal!

Lunch menu was not at all expensive. Good amount of portions. Staff were very polite. Green tea, miso soup was great. Mostly tried their Maki/bento box. Quality of these could have been better. They didn t taste as fresh as I have tasted in other places. Decor could also be improved.

Got take-out. Seems rather silly that their sashimi comes on a bed of rice....usually people order sashimi because they dont WANT rice. Sushi pizza disappointing....was expecting it to be stacked much higher than it was. Sticking with Sushi California and Zuki....much more bang for your buck.

Cant beat the proximity to Lees Palace which is why we picked it. The sushi was excellent but we were disappointed that they havent returned to all-you-can-eat. They said it was due to COVID but I suspect food prices are more to blame. In any event, the food was excellent. Atmosphere was pretty typical, nothing to really set it apart.

The food was o.k. The portions were small. They announce a 10% discount off your entire order if you pay cash or debit. Once we got there we had to pay in cash to get the 10% discount. In total our order for 3 was in the ballpark of $80. It was not worth it.
