The food and service were perfection! Our server was a delight, he had the best attitude and made the experience fabulous! The pancakes are heavenly, everything you hear about them is true and more. I also ordered a chai latte with a shot of biscoff which was absolutely divine. Some people in our party ordered a meal with eggs and smoked salmon which they said was really good as well. It’s a great brunch spot and I’ll definitely be coming back to try their mac n cheese!
I visited Old School specifically to try their Blueberry Hill pancakes, and they did not disappoint! The pancakes were absolutely delicious. I opted for pecans instead of bacon, and they added a perfect crunch to each bite. The balance of flavors was spot on, and the portion size was generous. What made the experience even better was the service. Our server, John, was spectacular! He was hilarious and made us feel right at home, turning a great meal into an unforgettable experience. I highly recommend Old School to anyone looking for amazing food and top-notch service. I’ll definitely be coming back for more!
Had a great experience with a big group here! They accept reservations which was super helpful. Our server was Daena and she was an absolute sweetheart. The milkshakes are HUGE and every dish we ordered we loved! Highly recommend and will definitely be back!
One of my favorite brunch places in the city. The blueberry pancakes are to die for 🤤 Their Chicken waffles are also good. I tried their Benny with fried chicken recently and I did not like it. The customer service is ok. Altho last time it was a little disappointing.
Ordered the legendary old school blueberry hill pancakes! Absolutely amazing!🥞 🙌 Fiance got the French toast and it was equally as great! We both got the cappuccino and loved it! I got the iced variation and she got it hot. Came with a yummy biscuit on top. We sat outdoors and it was very calming as we could smell the fresh morning air. There was a baby bird beside our table that was really cute and enhancing the outdoor vibes and we witnessed a few bees that liked the syrup🐝. The best way to start our morning before we headed to the ROM. We absolutely loved the outdoor vibes and decorations. The staff was great and everyone we interacted with was very nice!
Had such a lovely time eating brunch. Everything was great from food to service! I was surprised at how delicious the food was although, I wished I ordered a flavoured syrup for my iced latte - would recommend it to add some sweetness! They have patio during the spring/summer season. If you’d like some fresh air while having food, go for it :) Once again, thank you for the hospitality!
Old School offers a mixed dining experience. While most of the food was average, the chicken was a standout—really well-cooked and flavorful. The sandwich also had a nice mesh of flavors that worked well together. However, the waffles fell flat, lacking the spice that could have made them more exciting. The service was warm and attentive, adding to the experience, and the atmosphere was great, making it a nice spot to unwind. If you're craving good chicken and a nice vibe, this place is worth a visit, but some dishes might leave you wanting more.
I had a great time checking out Old School on a busy Saturday morning. The green wall and retro pillows really add to the atmosphere. I went with the smoked beef sandwich, which was all right, but the fries were the real star of the show – perfectly light and crispy on the outside, and soft in the middle. Next time, I've got my eye on the Old School Burger, which sounded amazing. The biscoff latte was delicious. The service was great; I wish I could remember our server's name because she was so friendly and attentive. I'll definitely be back to try that burger!
We sat in the patio with heaters. It was a great atmosphere and the food was amazing too. They have multiple Vegetarian options with at least Vegan option. Vegetarian options: Multiple vegetarian options, at least one vegan option.
Met with friends here for a Christmas brunch and the service and ambiance were very nice, especially considering we were a large group. Coffee was great, and I ordered the clubhouse sandwich which was good as well. I was surprised that the ambiance felt quite modern given that it s called Old School but it was still lovely inside.
This has to be up there in some of the worst service I have received. I came in with someone and when they had to go I migrated from the table I had grabbed a bite at to the bar. I brought my second drink of the night with me (spike cider w Rum), I enjoyed talking to people at the bar for a 45 minutes and ordered one more drink while I was there. When I went to pay my bill they showed me a receipt on the smaller machine possible and I had trusted they did it right. When I got the printed copy I noticed they had charged me 4 spiked rums rather than 3 and raised this with the sever Johnny. I had ordered pretty much all of my drinks through the woman but he toke it upon himself to yell at me to the point where I didn t want the $14 + tax + 18% tip back. The female sever was wonderful and advocated for me but he continued to be rude and make me feel awful. I ended up getting a refund for the drink because of the lovely woman but only the drink + tax and did not receive my tip back. All I can say is I hope she got my tip and not him because he should not be customer facing.
Food s 10 out of 10! Music is 11 out of 10!!!!
It was great that they had a Swiftie discount! Everyone on our side of the restaurant was a Swiftie, so that was kind of cool. :)
Had an amazing brunch at Old School with friends! The service was outstanding our server was friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed. The food was delicious. Great retro vibe too! Highly recommend for a fun brunch spot in Toronto!
My go to brunch spot.
Enjoyed a very scrumptious eggs Benny with truffle fries on the patio. The morning line was a bit chaotic but they sat us down pretty quick and the food and service was great. I forgot to take a photo of my food I was too hungry.
Best brunch spot in Toronto. Delicious food and cozy atmosphere. Highly recommend their variations of eggs Benedict or their blueberry pancakes. Parking: $6-8 parking lot by McDonald s, within walking distance of restaurant.
This was a lovely surprise. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. I was looking for a location that served sandwiches. The BLT was delicious. Will definitely go back. Location was perfect, was 2 blocks away from Toronto Western Hospital.
Really enjoyed the waffles+chicken & mimosas. Staff were super friendly too
Erin was an absolute gem of a server! She was super attentive and friendly! I had the biscoff latte, super tasty, and the lobster Benedict which was also really good but don t expect fresh lobster. We ll definitely be back
Love love love this restaurant! The food, staff and vibes were awesome. I highly recommend giving it a try.
Great place! Best Pancakes
I ordered the old school burger. Its huge and tastes good. The fries were not hot but warm. Might try pancakes next time
outdoor patio is a bit crowded but otherwise a great option for brunch food wise!
Not many breakfast options
Great time! Nachos were the best I ve EVER had, chicken was very moist, well-breaded, and flavourful (Tabasco honey was so amazing), not to mention the gooey brownie dessert. Our server was wonderful Vegetarian options: Not the largest choice range, but what they lack in choice they make up for in taste!
The blueberry pancakes were absolutely fantastic as was the pineapple mimosa. Coming in at $40 for both was a bit steep but ultimately worth it. The inside is aesthetically pleasing as is the patio. Service was fast and friendly.
A great bar, the wait staff that I dealt with was amazing. I asked if they could make a drink that wasnt on the menu, she said she could I gave her the info for the drink, (sorry I dont remember your name, but she had just moved here from Alberta). She took the time to look it up and made a perfect Dave Mathews. Then someone who acted like a manager came out and basically grilled the server for about 3 or 4 minutes about how Old School doesnt make drinks that are not on the menu because it would mess up the count. This typically wouldnt be a large issue to have a conversation about this with a staff member, but we were the only two guests in the bar at the time of the conversation and could hear every word. His interaction with the server made us feel very uncomfortable as we could hear every word and felt bad for getting her in trouble. Once he left the mood lightened and the servers were still amazing and made it so the end of our night was a memorable one. 100% would come back, just hope I dont get stuck with the gentleman employee as he didnt seem to value his customers. FYI For any East Coasters, I assume that Dave Matthews are now officially in the system as they were on my bill by name, and she made an amazing one!
We traveled from Florida and had to try this place. The food and service were great, the only issue we had were the bees. We sat outside and the bees were out of control. And it seemed to be a normal problem, I feel they should have given us a heads up when we chose to sit outside
Pretty disappointed with the fried chicken eggs bennedict today. Chicken was clearly fried yesterday (or older) and was insanely dry. Not even close to what fried chicken should be.
I ordered their top dish, the blueberry pancakes. Very mid, the food was not bad but I also wouldn t order it again if i came back to Canada. The service was good, our waiter constantly came back to ensure we were all right.
Please pack tea cups proper before handover a driver
Over rated. Over priced. Food not up to par.
Casual brunch option. Like the fact that I can reserve a table for brunch. My partner got the blueberry pancakes & liked them (we were amused that the bacon was cooked into the pancakes). I had a bite and liked the pancakes well enough. I had a fried chicken benedict but found the chicken a bit dry and underseasoned. Overall, a decent brunch option in the area. Friendky and efficient service. Music was playing but thankfully it wasnt at a crazy volume and people could still talk and be heard. Id like to come back to try the rest of their menu. Washrooms are in the basement.
The food was very good! My boyfriend had the chicken and waffles, and he thought they were great! I had the Club Sandwich and it was delicious. The chicken breast was juicy, well cooked, lots of bacon on it and the bun had a hint of dill on it. Very enjoyable. The waiter we had was professional and quick! The music was a great vibe. Definitely recommend.
-The coziest little restaurant tucked nicely on an intersection in Downtown, Toronto. The food prices are highly affordable and the amount is just over the top generous! (Some may vary depending on what you order) But the service here is also worth experiencing as everyone was so polite, caring and just overall friendly/ considerate. It s also kids friendly, meaning they have a variety of fun puzzles/ crosswords for kid menues, making the place have an extra layer of warmth. Overall 10/10 would recommend if you re looking for a nice, cheap place to dine out :)
Enjoyed this place for the first time the other day as a single diner. Sat up at the window beside another single diner and made nice conversation. Had a few mimosas and decided to order the fried chicken Benny which came with delectable homefries and salad. The diner beside me also offered me her blueberry pancakes which I happily took her up on and they were also phenomenal. Fun vibe and great music. Nice service. Definitely a spot I ll check out again!
Blueberry pancake was amazing with the butter on top!!!!!! Sandwich bun is nice and soft, chicken juicy bacon crispy!! There s nothing more you could ask for!!!! Everything is done to perfection!!!!!!!
Service was outstanding. Food wasnt bad but wasnt great. I wouldnt go back
Good food and drinks, good prices, and fast service
The brunch was very good, but the dinner...well, I dont recommend it, but I didnt feel that the service was that good.
When you re craving a no nonsense brunch, this is the place for you. Lots of options for food and drinks. Had a freshly squeezed apple juice (which was amazing on the hot day we visited). The portion was good, and I left full but not stuffed. They have a nice long outdoor patio with plentiful of seating inside. John was our server and he was awesome !
Very loud environment for an afternoon brunch spot! Service was okay, seemed like a busy day though. No foul play here! Food was okay. Nothing too crazy honestly. Maybe I m getting old
Old school is a great place to relax and get a big hearty breakfast. When we went, it wasn t that crowded so we were able to take our time ordering. Their eggs Benedict was amazing and I definitely recommend trying their hot chocolate.
Pancakes are a go to! The benedicts were great. Really friendly service and the patio is amazing!
Great little brunch spot! Service and timing of our food and drinks being served was great! The only downside was the English muffin (with the eggs Benedict) was kinda tough and I wish my coffee was served in the same larger mug as my friends tea. Would definitely return to try more
Got the lobster mac and cheese. Very peppery. Lobster us imitation stringy and fishing just plopped in top
Good place for breakfast- brunch. The avocado toast is really good, the only bad thing I have to mention about it is that the bread was super stale when I had it, with that and the bread being toasted made eating it a lot harder. My friend had the pancakes, the portion was big ( understandable for the price) and they looked really good
Went for a date night today and had the best time. Not only was the food absolutely spectacular, the vibes and atmosphere / patio is PERFECT for selfies, but our service was some of the best we have ever experienced. Unfortunately I did one of those things where I listened to our servers name and forgot it instantly but I know her name starts with a D! So shout out to you girl! She was personable and funny, understood our humor and answered our questions about the menu with excitement and passion. Honourable mention to the gentleman also working. We had the date night special which was ribs, steak, mushroom sauce and an apple slaw. Our app was the buffalo soldier bread which had to have been the best BEST BESTIST app we have ever enjoyed together. If your into spicy drinks their Cesar (ask for extra spicy) are un matched. Garnished with beans and jalapeño and a slice of lime. My boyfriend and I had a wonderful experience for our dinner date night and we will be sure to return for their breakfast / brunch menu. Definitely added to the regular spot rotation.
There is a lot of quantity. It tastes good too. I dont know the cost-effectiveness...
Budget-friendly brunch spot and super friendly staff.
I ordered breakfast close to $20 and if I wanted bread or toast I would have to pay extra. Unhappy
My go-to spot for breakfast and brunch, always delicious and always a pleasure.
The Bennys & the jets with fried chicken was absolutely amazing followed by the pancakes and the French toast, mimosas were light and refreshing and a nice iced latte topped it off, the vegetarian burger is a delicious option for non meat eaters, the staff were great and the atmosphere is perfect for a brunch day out with loved ones. I ll definitely be going back to try other items Highly recommend it!
Never go this restaurant
Delicious pancake!
I wont like visit again I well buy some there soon I get paid thank let me used your washroom
One of the best meals in Toronto! The waiter was sooo nice!!
Cool atmosphere, very nice staff. The Gouchujang Quesadilla was the best quesadilla Ive ever had no question. cant wait to come back. Food
Amazing brunch spot! Best friend and I went for food & mimosas. Bright atmosphere and delicious food. When my friend accidentally spilled maple syrup on the table, the wait staff were quick to get us new napkins and clean up Definitely gonna come back to try the other dishes! Wheelchair accessibility: Patio is accessible
Good place for a nice and yummy breakfast!
Great place. Service was really really good and food very tasty. Only complaint that we had was we sat inside and it was stifling hot (29 Celsius yesterday, felt like 40 inside.)
Good food, bigger portions & amazing location! Highly recommend! Food
Great staff good food quick service
The worst service I ve ever received in a restaurant. John, our server, would not even let us finish ordering before trying to take the menus away from us and rushing us. Never came back to the table until we asked for the bill. When it came to paying, my partner specified that I would be the one paying and he just shoved the machine towards me. As someone who also works in customer service this was just very disappointing.
Its all about the pancakes for me and they dont disappoint.
This is a review of DELIVERY from this restaurant. I m sure in person would be even better. We ordered two Benedict s, Mac and cheese, side scrambled, and mango juice. The Mac and cheese was unreal. Noodles weren t soggy, reheated well, super cheesy, and great flavour. Mango juice was a reasonable portion, with an amazing taste. The Benedict s were good. They even slightly over toasted the muffin, which was definitely beneficial so it didn t get soggy travelling. Unfortunately they forgot to pack hollandaise, which is a pretty essential component in eggs Benedict so we were a bit let down. But the food we did receive was delicious. 100% would order again.
The food is go tasty with reasonable price. There are lot of brunch&bev on the menu. Service is excellent. The vibe is good however the surrounding noice is too loud. Very recommend for chilling brunch!
I can not say enough great things about this place. Great food, fun atmosphere, but the friendly staff might actually be my favorite thing about Old School. I promise you will not be disappointed if you spent a Sunday morning or afternoon there. What a great place!
The only thing that needs to change is that they play modern music when their name says Old School. They should be playing oldies music 1960 and before. Otherwise I really like the place.
Everything we Tried at Old School If youre a fan of towering pancakes, juicy burgers, and creative takes on classic brunch dishes, Old School is the spot for you. Nestled in Torontos Little Italy, Old School blends nostalgic charm with a modern dining experience. Their signature Blueberry Hill dish is a must-try: fluffy buttermilk pancakes topped with house-made blueberry compote, crispy bacon, and brown sugar butter absolutely irresistible. We couldnt resist the Finger Lickin Chicken & Waffles either crispy buttermilk fried chicken drizzled with Tabasco honey, served over a perfectly fluffy waffle. Dont walk, run to Old School, so yum! $$ @melissa_foodie.fun
Old School Toronto is a great spot if youre craving comfort food. The menu is packed with classic dishes that hit the spot, making it a perfect choice for brunch. The portions are generous, and everything has that homemade, satisfying quality. Whether you re in the mood for fluffy pancakes, crispy fried chicken, or a hearty breakfast plate, Old School delivers. The laid-back atmosphere adds to the experience, making it an ideal place to relax and enjoy a delicious meal with friends or family. If you re in Toronto and looking for a solid brunch spot, this is it.
Crazy Pancakes!!!
Food and service was amazing Music was so loud but cool interior design. Food : 5/5
Very good eggs benny, they have a great blueberry hot sauce
Great vibe and service! The food OTOH was good. Food
Tried the pulled pork Benedict. Amazing! Sat outside very nice ambience. Only issue I had was the floor had some garbage from the day before. Our sever was happy and very very nice and helpful will come again to try out the pancakes !
Meatball sandwich and caprese salad were perfect. And the donuts some of the best anywhere! Must go back for the pizza..........and donuts!
Great food and vibes. Recommend
We stopped by for Saturday brunch and were thoroughly impressed! The brunch options were outstanding, and the $19.99 burger and beer deal was a steal - absolutely delicious! Our waiter was also hilarious, with a great sense of humor that added to the overall experience. Highly recommended!
Had a classic breakfast and their pancakes - both were so mediocre.
Excellent food, great service, good value. Good location
I had the pleasure of having Zach as my server, and he provided amazing service! He was very knowledgeable on the specials the restaurant provided along with the drink specials and what they were made of. Our party of 3 was very delighted with his service and we will be recommending this place to other friends and will be returning here :)!!!
Great vibes and even better chicken and waffles. The drinks were tasty. Our server was very friendly and super fun to talk to. Highly recommend.
Had a great time at Old School, while I went brunching with a friend. Great ambiance and the food was good too. I tried the Pulled Pork Benny and the Jets. :) Will definitely go back.
Disappointingly Unprofessional and Rude Service My recent experience at Old School left me utterly disappointed and frustrated. Despite making a reservation well in advance and confirming it on the day of my visit, the restaurant managed to mishandle our reservation and gave away our table to someone else. Upon arriving promptly at the agreed time, I was met with indifference and excuses from the staff, who nonchalantly blamed it on mismanagement. Their lack of accountability and refusal to rectify the situation was appalling. Its baffling how a place can remain operational with such blatant disregard for basic customer service. The overall attitude displayed by the restaurants staff was dismissive and unapologetic, which only compounded the frustration of myself and others affected by their negligence. Its clear that professionalism and customer satisfaction are not priorities here. In conclusion, I would strongly advise against patronizing Old School until they demonstrate significant improvements in their management and customer service practices. This experience has left me questioning how such a place can continue to operate while treating customers so poorly.
I made a reservation at Old School two days prior to my visit. They called the morning of my reservation to confirm that I am indeed coming. Upon arriving, the table was given to another group, and the management was extremely dismissive of my complaints while taking no accountability and making no efforts to address my concerns. Would not recommend this place if youre looking for reliable service.
Reserved a spot , through a friend, well in advance for the Football finals on the 14th of July. We were there well on time, but they say those seats have been given away. The dismissive attitude, the indifference and the mere lack of honoring a reservation really put us off. The restaurant called in the morning to reconfirm the booking and STILL were extremely dismissive when we arrived. Left scrambling for places for 14 of us at the last minute. We understand with the finals, this could happen. But your attitude to customers whove planned with you really needs some work.
I recently made a reservation at Old School for a table for 14 people to watch the Euro 2024 final. Despite arriving at 2:50 PM for our 3:00 PM reservation, we were informed that we were too early. The staff at the pub was not ready to honor our reservation and had given away our table without any apology or explanation. To make matters worse, I felt racially profiled when the manager pretended not to work there, ignored us completely, and went to drink a coffee. This lack of professionalism and disregard was incredibly disappointing. I expected better service. I can never recommend Old School for any events.
Came by for brunch and decided to try the chicken and waffles. Chicken was flavoured to perfection, and had a lovely crisp ! The waffle was fluffy and supported the chicken very well. Scrambled eggs on the side were a great touch
I used to really like this place, and maybe this last time was just a one-off experience. The waiter, (the large guy) came off as extremely annoyed right from the get-go, and when we asked for something (2 times the entire meal, one request for mayo and another for syrup for the chicken & waffles) he would sigh or make annoyed noises. They also forgot to include the tabasco honey with the chicken and waffles, and the french onion soup was extremely small and very salty. For the prices they charge this kind of service and food quality is no longer acceptable.
Food was amazing! Service was very fast and very kind! Will definitely be back!
Amazing service, great food. I cant wait to go back. I eat out a lot and this was by far one of the best dining experiences Ive had in a very long time.
Chicken and waffles were delicious. Had them twice now and they are my almost go to s here! Good quantity for your buck!
YUMM love the brown sugar butter, app they make it themselves!
Follow @bredgyeats for more food pictures! Imagine waking up to see an architectural marvel of this stack of fluffy pancakes, covered in a tangy blueberry compote thats a feast for the eyes and mouth and topped with a serving of sweet brown sugar butter. Cutting inside will reveal pleasantly surprising slices of bacon, whose savoriness blends well with the otherwise sweet elements. Plus, as much maple syrup as youd want within your reach. The chicken and waffles are also popular, I believe because of the fragrant hot chilli oil the chicken is plunged in after being fried to a beautiful crisp, bursting with juices once bitten into. The honey on top is a natural compliment to the savoriness of the chicken and waffles.
I really enjoyed dining here. The vibe is immaculate, and the food is good!
Menu felt limited and felt like a spot you pay extra cuz downtown, not because the foods better. Id rather my local diner
Still one of the best Breakfast/Brunch experiences in the city... my fave is the Avacado Toast - but the pancakes are the star of the show in a pinch!
We had a reservation and the main patio had some vacant tables. However, we were first asked to sit in a separate seating (totally separate from the main patio) where there was NOBODY and no music. That was such a bad feeling - why would you not seat us in the main patio? The breakfast menu has 4 items (+1 sweet item). All other items can be categorized as lunch. The classic breakfast does not come with toast (first time I have seen that). Eggs Benny was okay - the compote on the pancakes was not great. When we asked for more coffee - it was not served for almost 10 minutes. We were ready for the cheque and nobody was there to take that request for around 10-12 minutes. NOT a breakfast place for sure. Vegetarian options: Not much. They do not have substitutes for eggs/meat. Parking: Street parking available
Worst pancake ever we received through Uber eats. West of money
Today I went to this restaurant for lunch. We were the only table there. Later, another customer sat at the bar. The waiter was a middle-aged, balding( I don t want to be rude but he did it first, you can see from the below content) , heavy-set white man. At first, his service was just ordinary, nothing wrong. When we were halfway through our meal, he asked us from a distance how the food was. My friend said, Its good, and I said, Not bad. Right after I said it, my friend told me that it might not have been the best choice of words. Im new to Canada and didnt know that not bad might be considered impolite. But I didnt know how to correct myself at the moment. We continued our meal, and then this server, as he passed by our table, with a distance, actually muttered, What a nice race. I initially thought I must have misheard, so we finished our meal and pay for the bill and also a tip. Later, I mentioned it to my friend who was with me, and he confirmed he heard the same thing! This is completely unacceptable! Saying not bad doesn t justify making a racist remark. If I could do it over, I would never have left a tip. I urge all fellow Chinese people to avoid this restaurant that employs a racist server. This was beyond outrageous; I have never experienced anything like this before! --- Feel free to let me know if you need any further adjustments.
Food was good. Not extraordinary but that s not my issues. There was a tall Caucasian girl who was my server sadly she was never to be found when I dined. When I received my dinner I wanted extra napkins, but she left. I ended up eating my entire dinner without her checking up on me. There was no real service. I wanted the check, she was again gone. So I tipped based on her service and she slammed down my receipt
Great atmosphere, friendly staff. Delicious food!
Their pancakes are delicious! A bit expensive but nothing crazy for Toronto! Love this place. Vegetarian options: Lots of veggie options!
Chill vibes. Nice patio the upper part of the patio is photogenic. I really enjoyed my pancakes if Inwas going to be a stickler....I would have like the brown suger butter to be a little more melty...so good with coffee...and ask for crispy bacon! Overall yum.
Too loud, food is meh and service is poor.
Today my family and I dined at Oldschool (13ppl) and our experience was fantastic and this is because of Zack!He was very polite, courteous and made us feel welcomed!!
Stopped in here for Father s Day brunch, had a reservation for 6, but only 4 showed. The hostess had zero issues that we were missing 2 people and seated us right away on the patio. Our server was awesome, super friendly, attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. Unfortunately I did not catch his name, but he made our visit excellent. Food was delicious, we ordered the chicken and waffles, salmon benny, blueberry pancakes and a BLT. Prices were totally reasonable for the area and drinks were not overpriced either. Will visit again!
Nice and cozy brunch spot. Can t go wrong with the chicken and waffles.
The food was good. Better than Sunset Grill by light-years. The server was friendly and professional. I had pancakes with bacon. My only complaint was they gave me 2 strips of bacon while my homey who has scrambled eggs w/cheese, avocado, something else I cant remember and bacon had about 4 to 5 pieces of bacon. Dont do the powdered sugar on the pancakes. Not because it was nasty but after a few bites it was way too sweet for me. S/N if youre from the states, ordering eggs with cheese will give it away
Im sitting in this place at the moment of writing this review. This place is a gem! Zac is our waiter and he is very caring and professional. We had egg benedict and it had the best pouched egg! Also the turkey sausage was very freshly made that you could see the vegetable inside is still green from freshness. Not to mention the vibe, both inside and the patio. Everything is just perfect in this place. A true gem in downtown!
Delicious food. Good atmosphere. Reasonable pricing. ZacH, our server was very accommodating and on point. Highly recommend! Food : 5/5
Stumbled across this place by chance. Lucky for us it was half price wings and happy hour. The wings were uniquely flavored, we had the buffalo flavour and well sized. The amazing server was always smiling when she came by. I look forward to visiting again.
Great spot great food great Prices
Went here yesterday with my buddy. Loved the food and the service. Yes, the staff is a tad sassy but I kind of liked it lol. It really felt old school . Ppl need to remember that their staff talks to over 100 heads a day. Toughen up. The place is called Old School , not Gen Z Safe Space.
Meh food. Rude staff. Crowded place lol
Great brunch spot. Food came out quick and hot.
Food was great. Terrible attention from the servers that I got. And some other servers were just inexperienced, no gratitude.
Love love love! The food was delicious and came out so fast, the ambiance was so nice and everything was clean ! My server was so sweet and fast and everything wad perfect. We came for my partners birthday and everything exceeded my expectations! The milkshakes are so yummy too! They were also so accommodating even when we called to let them know we would be running late. 100/10 would recommend and come again! Thank you!!
My daughter and I had a fabulous brunch at Old School today. Due to an intolerance, I asked for the poached egg to be subbed out for smoked salmon on the avocado toast. The chef made it like it was one of their signature dishes. So fresh and delicious. My daughter said Benny & the Jets was cooked to perfection; very flavourful. The service was exceptional too!
I ate blueberry pancakes! Big surprise with bacon inside! ! Salty bacon goes well with sweet pancakes! They even gave me a second helping of coffee! Friendly clerk!
Were busy place.
The staff are so friendly and the food is amazing. If I lived closer I d be there every day
Burger juicy and good. Don t add any extra topping, you ll break your jaw. That said, they should add a little more sauce. My partner asked for hard fried eggs, both side, no runny yolk, but they brought runny yolk and had to re-do it. They did that fast, but still. By the way, this place is very busy and loud, so keep that in mind before coming here.
Rude staff
Absolutely amazing service! Our server Isaiah was so sweet and attentive to us and ensured we felt right at home. The food is absolutely amazing and the other server that seated us was an absolute joy as well. All around amazing experience
A fun place for a couple of beers and great wings. Great music.
The menu boasts a mouthwatering array of breakfast classics, from fluffy pancakes to hearty omelettes, all prepared with a touch of culinary finesse. Each dish is crafted with care and attention to detail. Whether youre craving a hearty breakfast burrito or a lighter option like avocado toast, theres something to satisfy every palate. The cozy ambiance, coupled with friendly service.
The food is the only good thing here! Full of taste and well-served (though its overpriced for the portion and quality). The location is meh, the atmosphere isnt very aesthetic, and the service was a bit of a letdown our servers attitude was kind of rude
I chose Old School based on location, reviews and their menu. It was very good. Celebrating a birthday with a late Sunday lunch. I loved the vibe of the restaurant. John our server was so friendly and patient. It took a little time for my friend and I decide what to eat and he checked in on us to see if we had any questions often. I went with the Grilled Cheese and Lobster sandwich. Wow! Loved the taste, the crunch of the bread and fresh avocado. My friend had the EZ breakfast with the croissant and thoroughly enjoyed breaky. To top things off, a little brownie with a candle for her to make a wish. The location was a good walk from AGO and worth the visit. Id recommend this choice and Ill look forward to going back again. Thank you John for helping to make our 1st experience a success.
Friendly staff, well made cocktails and the blueberry pancakes with cinnamon butter were amazing
Absolutely Gourgeous
We make a reservation 5 of us and service, food and drinks amazing. All of us love our breakfast. Waiter super nice constantly asking if we need something. My bennies with pull pork were so good .and my friends said the same, everyone loves our dishes. I wish we have more space for the delicious hotcakes with blue berries. We will need to come back.
My glass of orange juice was $8.00! Even with inflation, that price is ridiculous. My friend and I split the blueberry pancakes with a side of bacon, she got an iced coffee, I ordered the juice even though it wasnt on the menu, its brunch. We each paid over $30. A split brunch with no alcohol, that is a lot of money!
Cute little brunch spot with beautifully plated food and drinks! About 20-30$ per person for food, more with drinks. Decent size portions for food, service is very kind and accommodating. It does get busy though, so keep that in mind when coming in for lunch hours. Overall a pleasant experience!
Very average food. I m surprised lots of people are saying that s been the most delicious brunch they had, it s basic and not so tasty.
Yummy! Great lunch with my family! Delicious dishes, I recommend Mac&cheese and blueberry hill pancakes. Excellent service and friendly and polite waiters
The music was so loud, I could not hear the server or any of my colleagues. Asked if they could lower it to no afail. Could not believe it for 11am.. So foolish for that time of day or clientele. Too bad!!!
I always wanted to try this restaurant. I was happy I stopped by this morning for a quick bite to eat. Its by reservation but since it was just myself I was able to get a table quickly! Bonus!! The amount of food is decent. The waitress was extremely friendly. And she sold me on the brownie .. it was the best brownie I ever had. I did get the beef sandwich to go. it was not for me! My husband did enjoy every bite of that sandwich. I would go again!!
As much as the atmosphere is good and the waiters are very nice, the food was barely edible and the prices very expensive...
We were greeted & seated, instantly. We had the steak and chicken and waffles. My gf had a Sangria. Said its her new favourite Sangria. Beating the Kegs drink lol. I had an ice tea. They brew their own. It was ok, not too sweet. We had 2 different shots each. The chicken was decent. A little to crunchy for my taste, but still good. My gf said the squash and brussel sprouts were great. Steak was a little over cooked for medium rare. Was still quite enjoyable. We shared a warm brownie for dessert. Staff were very friendly. Well worth the trip from Hamilton. We will definitely visit again
I have been here on multiple occasions and this place never disappoints me. Food is always hot and fresh. Service is super friendly as always.
What an amazing place to dine in me & my wife enjoyed visited recently for her 30th Birthday. The team made it a very special experience for us & the food was great too. Would love to visit them anytime.
Fantastic food. Cocktails were great. Amazing atmosphere. A must. Go now.
Fantastic place to enjoy a family breakfast while on holiday in Toronto.
I really liked this place from its food to the atmosphere, its service is very good. Great place with good music and food.
always great customer service and good food. one of my favourite breakfast place in the city.
Had a great experience every time I ve been here. Food is great! The service is always friendly, and the music is awesome!
Came in for a drink and ended up staying for dinner. A friendly neighborhood spot. We sat at the bar. Great vibe- will be back to check out brunch and the patio this summer. Big thanks to John & Dana!
Went for Sunday brunch and its a very busy spot, but our table was reserved for us and was ready ahead of schedule. I recommend making a reso, but Im not sure if its required. Had the blueberry pancakes without bacon, and followed it up with mac n cheese. Both dishes were phenomenal and Im looking forward to making the trek from Scarborough sometime soon! It was so good that I took an order of pancakes to go. The music is all 80s and 90s (from what I paid attention to), so overall it was a great time :)
My friends and I visited with our teenager daughters, they were super accommodating to our food requests. The food was delicious but I have to give a 3* the lady serving us was super nice but there was another member of staff being so rude to the other staff shouting and swearing at them in front of us, making remarks about other customers that came in. It was very uncomfortable and VERY unprofessional.
Came for the $4.99 special Thursday night but was told that it was available during the day only when it clearly says Mon-Fri all day on the sign. French Onion soup is mediocre, as is the wings. Flat bread was good.
YUM! And the price is right for me!
While the food, my chai tea, and our server were great we almost left because of how unsanitary things were. I wanted to get a drink from the bar but couldn t bring myself to do so after watching the male bartender (bald with glasses) make others drinks. We had to wait 15 minutes even though we had a reservation. While waiting we stood next to the bar. The bartender had a huge open cut around his thumb nail and was making drinks while the liquor poured over his open wound. He was digging his hand (with the wound) into jars of olives, pickles, etc. A female bartender dropped ice on the bar counter top while trying to fill a glass and picked the ice cubes up with her hands and placed them into the cup. Just throw them in the sink at that point. It was DISGUSTING!!! I had water no ice. And opted out from an alcoholic beverage for a chai tea because it was not made at the bar. When we sat at our table all of our glasses were wet; on the inside and outside of the glass. I asked for new ones that were not wet. I am a server myself and I was repulsed by the ethics used behind that bar. I ve never seen anything so gross. (They canceled my open table reservation probably because they knew I would leave a review but here it is anyways)
Amazing food, service and atmosphere. We were a big group of about 20, they were able to accommodate us in a timely fashion. We commend them for that. The waitress was very attentive and took care of everything we needed. We will definitely be back.
Best Mac and Cheese and Homefries I ve ever had. Also great friend chicken.
What a lovely spot with yummy brunch.
Went there almost after a year today. So disappointed about the food. Had chicken n waffles coz I had that before, it was really good, but today, it was the worst chicken n waffles ever. Never going back again. Server lady was very friendly n great service.
This place has been my go to when I go downtown and visit my friends to have brunch, grate Benedictines , nice , cozy and clean environment. Love the service , the staff are always nice and smiling.
Amazing service, made reservations on OpenTable so no wait time, would recommend doing so on weekends as they tend to be quite busy for brunch!! Salmon Benedict was good, would recommend :)
Ambiance: Stepping into The Old School is like stepping back in time, but with a modern twist. The rustic decor and cozy atmosphere immediately set the mood for a laid-back dining experience. The walls adorned with vintage posters and the dim lighting create a warm and welcoming environment thats perfect for enjoying a meal with friends or family. Service: The service at The Old School is top-notch. The staff members are friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. Theyre quick to greet you with a smile and are always willing to offer recommendations or accommodate any special requests. Food: Smoked Beef Sandwich: The smoked beef sandwich at The Old School is a true delight. The tender, smoky beef is piled high on a perfectly toasted bun and topped with crisp lettuce, juicy tomatoes, and tangy barbecue sauce. Every bite is bursting with flavor, and the generous portion size ensures youll leave feeling satisfied. Its a must-try for any meat lover. Generals Fried Chicken Burger: The Generals Fried Chicken Burger is a mouthwatering masterpiece. The crispy fried chicken is perfectly seasoned and sandwiched between two fluffy buns, along with crunchy lettuce, juicy tomatoes, and a dollop of creamy mayo. Its a delicious twist on a classic burger thats sure to please even the pickiest eater. Benny and the Jets (Avocado): For a lighter option, the Benny and the Jets with avocado is the way to go. This refreshing dish features creamy avocado slices atop perfectly poached eggs and crisp English muffins, all smothered in rich hollandaise sauce. Its a brunch favorite thats as tasty as it is Instagram-worthy. Blueberry Hill Pancakes: No meal at The Old School is complete without trying the Blueberry Hill Pancakes. These fluffy stacks of goodness are packed with plump, juicy blueberries and drizzled with sweet maple syrup. Each bite is like a little taste of heaven, and youll find yourself craving them long after youve finished your meal. Overall Impression: Overall, The Old School is a must-visit destination for anyone looking for delicious comfort food in a charming setting. Whether youre craving a hearty sandwich, a juicy burger, or a decadent stack of pancakes, they have something for everyone. With excellent service and mouthwatering dishes, its no wonder why The Old School is a favorite among locals and visitors alike. Vegetarian options: Also the avocado toast...was very good..
What to expect (at 2 pm): A full (and noisy) restaurant with stylish interior and a bar. The food choices are mostly sandwiches or burgers with fries with a few other options. The food was good, however not mindblowingly so. Definitely on the expensive side. Vegetarian options: Limited choice for vegetarians. VERY limited for vegans. Be prepared. Beverages are available with milk alternatives however.
Best food, Best people, Best experience. A good representation about how is the quality of Toronto.
This was good! It is becoming a rarity to be able to make a reservation for brunch in Toronto without putting down a credit card but this place allowed me to make one 2 days before for my desired time. The restaurant is actually quite big and has a lot of seating. The menu is small for brunch but there were still a decent amount of options. The servers were good and the food came out quickly. The pancakes were good! I don t know that I would say you have to try this place, but it is good food and good service
The coffee is amazing! The Chicken and waffles are delicious!
So delicious! And all the People there is very kind!!
This post is long overdue ! One of the best breakfast spots in Toronto, if not the entire continent of North America. The best blueberry pancakes I ve ever had. Great mimosas, and even amazing assertive staff.
Food is good but the portion sizes are awful. Dont waste your time or money, order from somewhere else.
Good times! A lil cramped but the staff is very friendly and efficient. Would definitely go back, wait this is my second time here! Third time coming up! Also sitting at the bar isnt bad at all, bar keep was amazing.
The brunch here isn t that great especially for the premium price you pay. If you are going here to take pictures then I d recommend it as the restaurants look is amazing. On the other hand the food here isn t all that. There are better brunch spots better in the city, especially for the price you re paying.
Great wings and excellent deals for drinks and food!
very rude server. if u don t tip he starts to pout his mouth and huff n puff . even if the customers are 15-16 years old. i think its ridiculous. expecting a 16 year old unemployed student to tip after spending $30 on food? grow up.
It is a perfect place with a great atmosphere and delicious food. However, its best to avoid visiting when John, an employee who isnt very welcoming to customers, is working. To ensure a great experience, try to schedule your visits when John is not on shift. ( I hope I ve mentioned his name correctly)
tips are already included in the bill but the machine will still prompt u to give a tip. server wont let u know tips already included. remember to check ur bill
Disappointing experience at Old School in Torontos downtown area. Despite being a breakfast spot, the lack of halal options was unexpected. While they do offer vegetarian choices, the overall quality didnt meet expectations. The prices seemed inflated for what was served. Wouldnt recommend for those seeking a satisfying breakfast experience.
Amazing pancakes and ambiance. Friendly staff and delicious food are always a recipe for an top tier experience. Washed it down with a mango margarita Yes Lord! 10 out of 10, highly recommend.
I got benny and the jets and bottle service mimosas. It was good. Service was good our server was attentive and took care of us. She was sweet. Food
Ordered through Uber Eats and will definitely order again! Extremely fresh ingredients and reasonable prices.
The food and atmosphere were incredible but I wish I could rate service higher because they truly went above and beyond. From the moment we walked in for brunch the hostess was kind and attentive. This care and customer service (which was already top bar) only IMPROVED as we were quickly attended to by John. I don t have enough kind words to say about this beautiful human. He was funny, informative and genuine. He provided timely service and excellent insight/suggestions on the menu. He had us laughing from the start and truly took all measures to make us feel comfortable and MORE than satisfied. One of my best dining experiences in a very long time. Food was excellent, drinks were well mixed and tasty, and water refills were consistent. Old School has a special crew and I would 100% recommend to anyone looking for a place that has the full package good food, comfortable atmosphere, wonderful staff. Kid-friendliness: I saw the staff interacting with a toddler who was there with her guardian. They were really sweet and attentive to her as well.
Last week this company sent reps to many companies along Dundas Street in their area, dropping off Promo Cards for a free coffee. 10 minutes ago I dropped in. I asked the server where the coffee shop was, he reluctantly pointed toward the back of the small restaurant / bar area. He didnt seem happy to see me and Ive never been in there before. A rather cold reception in fact. I immediately felt like I was not welcome at this establishment. I wonder if it had anything to do with the free promo card I was carrying? I looked around and there was no one there to place an order with. The server came back to collect an order for the restaurant and left. Still no one. After a few minutes I left. I placed my promo card on the desk by the steps as I exited the store. I dont think Ill go back. On the outside they have a breadboard sign that indicates fresh pastries. On the inside though thats a different story. $4.00 for a butter croissant or some pricey cookies. Not many things to choose from. If they dont want my business well, thats ok, not the end of the World. My advice... If you give out promo cards make sure your service is at least up to par. Im starting to get the impression that many of the places in this area are half baked, just thrown together, barely passed mom and pop operations who are easily eclipsed by Tim Hortons and McDonalds at Dundas & Bathurst street. Its disturbing that the best place in this immediate area is 7Eleven At Dundas & Manning. Ouch.
