We rarely go out to eat fancy, but we decided to try Opus as it was my partner’s birthday. My honest opinion about this place is that it’s okay. The appetizers: fois gras, and the stracciatella were amazing. The maple flavour and the apple slices in the fois gras just made the whole dish better. However, we had run into issues with the mains. We waited almost an hour-and-a-half for the mains. I had ordered the Iberico pork, but it tasted bland and two cuts were provided; one was cooked “perfectly” (looked raw) and the other one was completely overcooked. The tuna that they substituted for the pork was alright, just very peppery, and the mushrooms were bitter. My partner ordered the sea-bass, and it was good. I do understand that the restaurant was busy that night, and can chock it down to their system falling under pressure. Our server (didn’t catch his name) was understanding and was very polite with us, so I’ll give them props for the customer service during the whole ordeal. The crème brûle however was fantastic, and had a super rich and creamy texture with an amazing salted caramel taste. The peaches for us weren’t necessary for the dessert, in our opinion. Overall, I am giving Opus a 3 star rating, as the appetizers and desserts were amazing, but the long wait time and subpar main dish were not really acceptable for a restaurant of its class. I do not think we will return, but we thank the staff for being understanding and communicating as best as they could.

I just had the pleasure of dining at Opus Restaurant in Toronto, and it was a fantastic experience. From the moment we arrived, the elegant yet welcoming atmosphere set the stage for a delightful evening. The décor is tasteful, creating a warm and comfortable ambiance. The food at Opus is truly impressive, both in quality and presentation. Each dish is carefully crafted, using high-quality ingredients that result in wonderful flavors. The presentation of the dishes was also beautiful, making the meal feel special. The staff at Opus were attentive and professional, ensuring that our needs were met with genuine care. Their knowledge of the menu and helpful recommendations added a personal touch to our dining experience. They were always nearby when needed but never intrusive. The vibe at Opus is also worth mentioning, combining a sense of sophistication with a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere.

The food at Opus Restaurant is rather mediocre. Considering the price, the quality falls short in various aspects, from presentation to flavor. It lacks the excellence found in its competitors. Nevertheless, the service is commendable, and I had a pleasant dining experience. If you seek complexity in flavors and top-notch presentation, I recommend exploring other dining options.

A very cool dining experience was had in the private area in the rear of the business including the super relaxing courtyard where we enjoyed appetizers. We had a price fixe menu and I chose burrata served on a cracker of sorts. The burrata was delicious if not a little dryer than most I've tried. I sampled the knudi as well and it had a very light texture, my friend was indifferent about it, I liked it. I ordered the dry aged striploin and was surprised by the cut of the meat, unlike any striploin I had tried before. It was cooked perfectly, however, all of us found the meat a bit too chewy for a truly dry aged steak. The presentation was excellent and I realize it is impossible to cook poor meat quality to any better standard. Still delish even though not as tender as I would have liked. I finished with beignets and was at first disappointed at their small size, but was astounded by their incredible flavour and freshness of the creme and tart berry combo. Overall a lovely dining experience.

Truely 5 star dinning experience with extensive wine list. The service was quick although we waited a bit long for main course to arrive, kitchens fault. They were out of tenderloin at 8 which I found odd!! The owner/manager was nice with regulars or tables ordering expensive bottles but we were okay with getting less attention 😏. All courses were cooked to perfection. My favorite was seared fois gras.

Great ambience and very romantic atmosphere. Amazing experience at Opus Restaurant. The service was impeccable! Staff was very polite and highly attentive. Our server was very pleasant, and definitely very knowledgable about the menu as he was explaining new special items they had. They have an extremely extensive wine list. Their wine selection was absolutely impressive. It took us some time to choose. If you are a wine lover, this place is for you. Every single dish was so carefully crafted and full of flavours that blended together graciously. The presentation for each dish was flawless! The tenderloin especially was very juicy and perfectly done. The seared foie gras simply melted in your mouth and the beef tartar was just amazing good. We tried 4 different desserts and they all tasted really delicious and exquisite. Opus is definitely surpassed my expectations. Highly recommend to family & friends.

We had an incredible meal, which was a six course tasting menu with wine pairings. The food was outstanding and the wines complemented the tastes perfectly. We especially enjoyed the tuna tartar with egg and the tenderloin with the foie gras. The service was highly attentive. Overall a superb experience.

Opus is a hidden gem, where the food is more than food; it s art. Each bite was a blend of unique flavours, and the food was presented in a beautiful way. The service was stellar. This type of service is above and beyond, and I find it s rare these days. Our servers Massimo and Bob were wonderful and attentive, and surpassed our expectations. Bob was with us for the majority of the night and his passion for his job shows. The owner also came by to check on us and he was warm and friendly. He genuinely seemed happy to be there. While I think some of the decor could use an update, I would absolutely recommend dining here for a culinary experience. Must-try. Opus, you will have return customers in me and my family!

We went there for dinner before a piano concert played on a $300k instrument. They were the perfect match. Opus had an adventurous menu of classics touched with contemporary refinements. The wine list is a wine book... and a NYT best seller at that. Looking for a romantic meal, a business conclave or a meal to remember? Trust Opus.

The bartender Luca was amazing the sommelier was spectacular and knew every inch of the list and was an absolute pleasure to speak with not only about wine but also bourbons. The bison special was great. This will definitely be a place I will visit on my next trip to Toronto.

This place is way below average, Im not even sure how it qualifies as fine dining. Service is slow and portions are miniscule. Presentation and flavour are both underwhelming. Its embarrassing. I was here with a group in the private dining room so maybe they just cant handle large rooms but its thats the case dont offer it.

I just want to say thank you to everyone who helped make this experience great. I took my friend here for her birthday and we enjoyed our time very much so. We had to postpone our reservation three times that night due to traffic setbacks, etc. With that being said, they were so kind enough to do so, and still seat us in a private corner booth area. When we walked in, they knew who I was, and I kind of felt bad because I m sure they knew who I was with all the setbacks of the reservation, but they snickered about it, kind of like a brush off the shoulder as in you re here now and everything s OK. They took our jackets elegantly and proceeded to put them in coat check and lead us to our seat. The energy of the hosts and the servers, just in general the whole house staff was really accommodating and kind. We had some oysters for the first time, and they were so kind enough to make a small portion of risotto, even though it wasn t on the menu. My friend ordered a steak and said she absolutely loved it. Overall, I m just really happy about the treatment and the service of this establishment. Thank you for making it a wonderful time for me and my friend on her birthday.

Did not live up to the hype. Went for a BD celebration. Salads were fine. 2 of us ordered Fish. One was almost inedible. The fluke was bland and whatever it was on....couldnt eat it. The other was the Halibut which was just bland. Rack of lamb and Venison were fine... Service was truly mediocre at best. Worst part was at the end of the meal, one of the servers walked by and had clearly been out smoking a cigar...absolutely stunk and carried this through the restaurant. Not the best way to end a meal. For the price....would not recommend

I couldn t believe that the manager here asked us to leave our table when my daughter was just crying a bit in a normal volume in roughly 10 seconds. For god s sake, we are in the middle of our meal and he just came to ask us to change a table? We have been to a lot of restaurants here in dt Toronto, none are as kids-unfriendly as like them. If you have kids, don t come here, they will be super mean to you and your kids. Remeber the name OPUS, a restaurant with hostility because of unknown reasons to kids.

December 21, 2022

Bring my girlfriend to celebrate her birthday here. Really bad service, can t judge if the manager has racist to Asian people or not because we are the only Asians who had dinner tonight here. Really bad experience here, the manager saw we called him but he ignored. In addition, the manager never asked us if we are okay with the food and he didn t serve us any dessert after the entrees. When we were ready to pay, he just threw the bill and post machine on the table and without saying any words. Never gonna come again.

December 21, 2022

Really bad service, the manager here has a serious racial discrimination for Asian people. He had really nice conversation with other western people but just ignored this table. We showed our politeness every time when someone came to serve us. Even we wave to call the manager when he saw us, he chose ignoring us. Some waiters pretend that they don t understand what we were saying, even we don t have obvious accents. I ve been to many French style restaurants but first time in Toronto, won t be here anymore. Also, I will tell every friend of mine don t have meals here.

I had a terrible experience here because: - I came to a friend s birthday which had a pre-set menu. No prices. I asked what s the price? Waiter answered: this restaurant has no prices. ???? - did not allow separate bills - my old fashioned was so bad, I had to send it back - lamb cuts had extra fat, wasn t seasoned well. I had to stop eating after 3 bites. I also usually finish all my food - tartare costs 38? - I told the waiter twice that I m gluten free, he still served me floured cake - waiter served me two sorbets as gluten replacement. Both were the worst ice creams I ve ever had in my life

Bait and Switch! Website advertises a set of prices. Download-able October menu advertises higher prices. At the restaurant even higher prices. For example, the Striploin. On the website, $49. On downloaded menu, $65. At the restaurant, $80. And the beef was overcooked and rubbery! Website also advertises valet parking. There is none! Worst meal we have ever had! Overpriced wine list, poorly prepared food. And dont forget the false advertised prices. Parking: There is NO valet parking!

Great venue, intimate and lovely dining experience. The food was intricate and made superbly, with fresh ingredients and textured blend of flavours. I came with a group of friends and dinner was great. I ordered the venison which was prepared just right, with the sauce not overpowering the entire dish. I started with the burrata and figs which was refreshing and light. One of my friends told me she feels their foes gras is hands down the best she has ever had, including in Paris. Service was detailed, timely and right on the mark. Its really a hidden gem in the city, tucked in Yorkville. I think its a great place overall for date night or a more special work gathering. An expensive let down. We had reservations and our table was not ready upon arrival. After a few minute wait we were seated and informed that 2 of the items on the menu were already sold out for the evening (one of those items were the reason we had selected this restaurant). We noted that the menu is different than the one posted on their website. Food either lacked salt or was a salt bomb. Service started off good and quickly plummeted. Had to ask them to take our main order. Food arrived in a timely manner. Afterward we decided to order a digestif for dessert. The waiter returned with our drink and stated they were out of what we ordered and the one above it was more expensive so he just picked something that was the same price. I dont think that was his call to make. Someone else said it, no wow factor here. Disappointed given the history and location.

A very pleasant and nice restaurant for fine dining. The restaurant itself has a very pleasant and romantic atmosphere which makes it a nice choice if you re looking to take that special someone for dinner ;) Coming in, we were greeted by the host who took our jackets for us, and seated inside by the staff right after. Our server was very pleasant, and definitely very knowledgable about the menu as he was explaining new special items they had and also on any food items we asked about. He made good recommendations as I was looking for a sweeter drink and he offered this martini that definitely hit the spot. We were still unsure of our order but he was okay with coming back every few minutes to ensure we were ready. Their dinner menu as a good selection of appetizers, and main courses that will even suit vegetarians. What they re also really known for is the selection of wine (it s a whole book)! For our appetizers, i really enjoyed the seared foie gras as it came in a sweet apple sauce that perfect blended together. I ordered one of the specials which was red deer meat (which was also my first time trying), and it was quite pleasant. Our server recommended it to be medium rare which I was sceptical at first since I usually order medium, but it turned out he was right! Personally, I thought the portions were just right where you would feel full but not stuffed, so I wouldn t have any complaints. We wanted photos taken and Tasha/ another server helped us take the best photos possible which also made the experience and night even better. Thank you for a lovely night!

There are some elderly grandparents, very gentlemanly people, who come to eat together. Lamb chops are a must! There s no smell at all and it s very tender! Its a little burnt outside. The steak is also good but not as amazing as the lamb chops. The foie gras is also very tender and paired with apples, which neutralizes the greasy feeling. The sweet and salty Carmel tart is rich with black chocolate. The fruit ice is smooth but smooth. The lemon flavor is so lemony !

I think we might have visited on an off night as my experience felt rather inconsistent. Our food took quite some time to arrive and the waiter gave us a very specific ETA which was wildly off. The food was fine, most of it really flavourful, but one of our side dishes was practically untouched because it was extremely plain and flavourless. The server(s) never asked how things were, why we didnt like it, etc and it was just added to the bill without a word. (I think everyones bills were incorrect in our party of 6.) The wine list was great, as were the wine recommendations. From the other reviews, I think we perhaps just visited on an off night and Id be willing to visit again or recommend for a night out, but had to be honest with my experience.

I went to the Opus with my girlfriend, as we visited Toronto. The wait staff were very knowledgeable and attentive. We both had specials. I had the Australian grass fed sirloin, which was easily one of the best cuts of meat Ive ever had. She had the champagne roasted fluke, which was one of the best peices of fish shed had. After, we ordered a creme brulee, and it was very good as well. The price was not out of the ballpark when the quality of food is accounted for. If I come back to Toronto, Ill come back to Opus.

Good food and really attentive but not overbearing service. Had the caviar which was great but the blinks were a bit too thick and took away from the caviar. My fish dish was OK in terms of taste but my partner s was better. Service was what really stood out. Also a good place for those who want to stay low key.

If you love wine and fine dining, Opus is a must. They have one of the most impressive wine collections we ve seen, and each menu item is as delicious as it is beautiful and can be paired with a suitable wine. The fois gras was a first for me, but if you re going to try it, try it here because it s crazy good. Oysters were fresher and better than any I ve had in Toronto to date. Quality food, wine & Service, we ll always be back!!!

Always a great spot for dinner. Until this year I did not even realise there was a back patio, but was pleasantly surprised when I went with a friend who also counts this among his Toronto favourites. I dont know why I even look at the menu as I always order the seared tuna which is perfect every time. I have brought guests from Chicago & LA who were impressed by this hidden little spot on Prince Arthur. Impressive wine list & the perfect spot to take clients or for a celebration or date.

Extremely extensive wine list. The service is luxury to another extent. You truly feel special when you dine here. The staff are well versed on the menu and wine selection. As well the management are very attentive and committed to every guest having an amazing experience. A nice some what hide away in the city when youre in the mood for a fine dining experience without the hustle and bustle of the more mainstream spots in Toronto.

My favorite restaurant anywhere (perhaps with the exception of Frenchie in Paris but thats on a different continent) . Service and food is always impeccable, it just never disappoints. Ive been maybe a dozen or so times over the years ( less lately as I just dont go out as much ) and have only had two different waiters. The wine list VERY large but the sommelier is always happy to help if its overwhelming. Just tell him what you like and around what you want to spend and theyll get you a great bottle. On the food side there is a pretty solid selection without trying to be too overly foodie ( I almost always get the game meat) they do switch it up. Though the foie gras never changes because it it just perfect the way it is... If I could have one appetizer for the rest of my life there would be no contest.
