About

2022 & 2023 Michelin 1 Star Osteria Giulia sprung to life in our imaginations as a tribute to Italian traditions of the past. We wanted to create one simple, beautiful thing. Somewhere outside of your busy life, outside of your surroundings, outside of time. An environment, an experience, an entire evening. Osteria Giulia is intimate, warm and familiar. We’ve reveled in her every detail. We’ve established a rarified menu focusing on Northern Italian cuisine and delicate coastal, Mediterranean flavor. Giulia is a new imagining of what an Italian restaurant can be. It always was the place of our dreams, the reason for our collaboration, and the culmination of—and conduit for—our collective passion. Osteria Giulia is a solid experience with dishes that are very well balanced. Each dish also seems to have one or two elements that elevates it to the next level. The veal carpaccio with the fried capers is one of those examples, crunchy but still has that familiar briney flavor from your everyday capers. Pasta is also lovely with fresh flavors and great texture. However, of the 4 dishes we tried, there’s one dish that we found to be slightly disappointing - The fish platter. While some elements like the grilled octopus was just done perfectly, tender inside with a crisp exterior, there are two reasons why this dish just didn’t quite work for us. 1. The mackerel and red snapper we find to be a touch under-seasoned, and perhaps a touch overcooked to our usual liking. 2. The char flavor from the grill is a bit too bitter and slightly off-putting. The squid while cooked really nicely, was not too enjoyable due to the bitterness. Be great if this could be evaluated. After informing the waitress, she was very keen to understand more and sent us a dessert on them. I think if you are looking for a solid Italian spot with nice little surprises, Osteria Giulia is definitely a go to.

Second time coming here, again amazed at the quality of the food. We came as a large group and got the family style meal. The pasta was fresh and flavourful. The seafood and meats grilled beautifully. Excellent flavour all round. Service was also very attentive.

Follow @bredgyeats for more food pictures! The most polarizing bite of Tiramisu belongs to Osteria Giulia, where the foreplay was equally amazing and delicious. Somewhat like durian, this tiramisu isn't for everyone, but those who love a strong, creamy and boozy bite that's contrasted by the fragrant espresso aromas will rave about a bite that is the perfect ending to a birthday meal. The beginning was amazing as well, as the ultra-tender veal carpaccio practically melts in your mouth and is the best of its kind that I've ever had. It has a clever combination of a rich tonnato sauce, fried capers, lemon juice and lemon leaves for a balanced bite. My favourite pasta is filled pasta, and Giulia just raised my standards even higher. It tastes as wonderful as it looks, with a mellow ricotta filling that harmonizes with the creamy Jerusalem artichoke sauce that's silky smooth with a subtle smoky aroma. Supplementing each bite with springy morels and chanterelles in between for an earthy, umami contrast in textures makes this my favourite dish of the night. The rack of lamb is an indulgent plate that resembles a meat lover's wet dream, seared to deliciousness to render out the delicious lamb fat, with each tender bite bursting with meat juices in your mouth. To go with the lamb are some charred Brussels sprouts topped with umami-packed smoked anchovies that will make ANYONE eat their veggies.

Overall it was a 4-star out of 5 experience for a fine dinning restaurant. Food was expected good, highlight was the one with Tuna cream sauce(?), definitely worth a trying; everybody loves their pasta or risotto so good job there! And the price isn’t crazy for the quality of food, so you won’t be disappointed! the service wasn’t great: 1. For a reservation at 8 o’clock, we didn’t get to sit until 8:17 and had to stand; 2. Wasn’t too much table service as we had to serve our own water as well; 3. Not much intro to the food as this is what I normally expect from a Michelin star restaurant and from past experiences 4. I hope I am not too harsh on this one, birthday cake is not allowed which is kind of a bummer already and no complimentary cake was given ( I might be spoiled by other restaurants where they do free cake so often as no one probably should expect free food) Overall, food is good, service was just fine.

I had my wedding anniversary here with my wife, and it was such a perfect experience. The staff were amazing, especially our waiter Daniel. He gave us so many recommendations and really made the night feel special for us. Food was cooked to perfection and heavily recommend their pastas and their foccacia starter. They also gave us complimentary white wine as well. Hope everyone has the same experience we did.

Truly one of the best restaurant I have been to in my lifetime. I highly recommend sitting at the chefs table - what an experience. The food was exceptional, the waiter was thoughtful and getting to see the meals made was my favourite spot. If you want a special spot guaranteed to be delicious, look no further. This place meets the hype! 12/10 would recommend.

It was a nice experience. Food is delightful and enjoyable. Highlights are the scallop dish with a refreshing flavor and sea bass which is cooked well with a smokey smell but juicy meat. Flatbread and spaghetti are as good as expected. Service was professional, but they forgot to give us back our leftovers (as we were rushing out for the next table to come in) so I have to take one star off. Clean decoration but nothing special.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Osteria Giulia in Toronto for my fiancé's birthday, and it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warmth and genuine hospitality that set the tone for the evening. The ambiance is a perfect blend of modern elegance and cozy charm, making it ideal for a special celebration. The menu is a delightful exploration of Italian cuisine, featuring fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Each dish we ordered was a masterpiece, bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. The handmade pasta was a standout, perfectly cooked and complemented by rich, aromatic sauces. The staff went above and beyond to make our evening special, with their attention to detail and knowledge of the menu enhancing the experience. Osteria Giulia is a true gem in Toronto, and I can't recommend it enough for anyone looking to celebrate a special occasion or simply enjoy a remarkable meal. We left with full hearts and happy bellies, already planning our next visit.

One of the best dinners I ve had in a long while. Everything we had ordered tasted amazing. The anchovies with butter was so good. We both kept saying it was the best butter we ve had. The yellowtail crudo, was light and refreshing with the pomegranate bits. The veal & tuna carpaccio was superb, especially the white creamy sauce that goes with it. The pastas as expected were also great and the side order of brussel sprouts to compliment the lamb chops were just as tasty too! If you re looking to choose which dessert, I d go with the poached pear - for sure. Aside from the food, the atmosphere and service was incredible. The staff took such great care of us and presented complimentary bubbles to start and extra desserts to finish. They also made us drinks based on what we were feeling at the time which was lovely of them. We definitely had such a wonderful experience and I can t thank the staff enough for making it such an enjoyable dinner.

Osteria Giulia offered a memorable dining experience with a few standout dishes. The PACCHERI alla GENOVESE was the highlight one of the best pasta dishes I ve ever had. The CARRE di AGNELLO was perfectly cooked and flavorful, while the MILLEFOGLIE al COCCO impressed with its refreshing tropical twist. The ACCIUGHE e BURRO, TAGLIOLINI al GRANCHIO, and TIRAMISU were solid but not extraordinary. Overall, I d return for the PACCHERI and MILLEFOGLIE alone!

took my bf here for his birthday ! the atmosphere was beautiful, you really feel like its a special occasion and youre getting the fine dining experience. the service was great, our waiter was attentive and answered a bunch of questions we had. to start, we ordered 2 appetizers- the recco focaccia, and the endive and pear salad (as recommended to us by our waiter). the recco focaccia was very good. it was served warm, the cheese was flavourful with the perfect amount of salt, and the focaccia was light and crispy. i thought the portion was a little small for the price though ($28). the endive and pear salad wasnt my favourite, it was too bitter for my taste. for our main, we ordered the seafood platter. my bf loves seafood, and he said some of the bites were the best seafood hes had. im not the biggest fan of seafood, but i could tell that everything was super high quality, and i still enjoyed everything on the plate. the octopus especially impressed me, as ive never had octopus that so buttery and smooth. the seafood platter is a great option to try a variety of different items and i think its pretty good value. for dessert, we got the tiramisu. prettiest tiramisu ive ever had. taste wise, it was pretty good, but i didnt think it was stand out. overall osteria giulia was a nice experience. even though not all the dishes were suited to my taste, you can tell what youre getting is quality

We finally made it to this restaurant we d heard so many good things about, and it did not disappoint! From start to finish, everything was a treat. We kicked things off with the veal carpaccio light yet flavorful, setting the perfect tone. The focaccia was heavenly with its thin, crispy crust and melted cheese. We d ordered Brussels sprouts, but thanks to a little mix-up, we also got cauliflower on the house. Both were great, though the Brussels sprouts totally stole the show. For the main, we tried the sea bass, which was well-prepared, though I would ve liked a bit more punch in the seasoning. The Lorighittas Al Mare pasta, hand-braided with calamari, was as unique as it was delicious. And the Mille-Feuille for dessert..Absolute perfection with its refreshing mango and passion fruit flavors. This place lives up to the hype highly recommend!

I forgot the proper names of the dishes so I ll just describe them: we got the focaccia, the salad pictured, the seafood platter pictured and the tiramisu. I thought the food was great though the portions were definitely on the smaller side for the price, I will say though, that this can be excused by the obvious high quality of the different dishes. I thought the tiramisu and seafood platter were the highlights of the meal and both extremely delicious so I definitely recommend getting them both. The place is designed beautifully and provides a classic and romantic atmosphere, great for dates. One thing that bothered me a little was that I asked if I can pack up the scallop shell as it is a ritual my girlfriend and I partake in for certain restaurants as the shell serves as a nice piece of memorabilia from our dates (we ve not been refused this request at any other restaurant) but we were rejected and then told if we want we can go buy a scallop from eataly and keep the shell from that one. I understand this is a Michelin star restaurant and it was a little bit of an odd request, but again, at other Michelin starred restaurant we ve visited this request has not been rejected. I felt as though the response soured the mood a little and was a little silly considering the price and prestige of the place. Regardless it is a nice place for a date with excellent fresh Italian food.

November 22, 2024

Highly recommend their Lamb Chop, Pear Baba, and Tiramisu. My friend is also a big fan of the Focaccia di Recco. The lamb chops, ordered medium rare, were perfectly executed aromatic and beautifully seasoned. I appreciate the restraint with sauces on grilled red meat, allowing the flavors to shine through. Sometimes, simplicity is the ultimate sophistication. The portions are generous, so be sure to save room for dessert! We encountered a slight hiccup with food running, but their service team handled it promptly and professionally. One small suggestion: it would be great to see a few more options for wine by the glass to pair with the excellent dishes.

November 22, 2024

We had high expectations for Osteria Giulia given its Michelin recognition, but unfortunately, the experience fell far short. The food quality was surprisingly subpar, with dishes that lacked refinement and balance. The seafood platter, in particular, was overwhelmingly salty, masking the natural flavors we were hoping to enjoy. For the price and reputation, we expected much better. Definitely not worth the hype.

One of the few restaurants in Toronto whose interior isnt the only thing good about it. The food was fresh and cooked and seasoned well with decent service (some servers were quite pretentious while others much nicer) and clean interior makes for a great dinner environment. The only thing that I (personally) did not like was how OVERWHELMING and incredibly strong at the alcohol flavour in the tiramisu was. If you like your dessert to taste like literal booze, then its for you Albeit, it all comes at a high price, the food wont leave you disappointed like many other restaurants in the city

We were seated next to the kitchen, so it was a bit noisy and we had people constantly walking past us, so the dinner didn t feel as intimate. The food was alright, the focaccia di recco and the vitello tonnato were standouts. We weren t the biggest fan of the burrata and we found the bread to be a bit stale. The pasta dishes were just average, they didn t blow us away. We did not like the mille-feuille at all. Overall, a pricey spot. Not sure if it s worth the value. It really seems like they hand out michelin stars to just about any restaurant. This place really made me reconsider the luxurious dining experience of a Michelin restaurant. The appearance and ambiance of the restaurant is very nice. The food however, is very sub par. We ordered the foccacia, insalata di pomodori, burrata e cavali and tortolloni ai funghi. The foccacia was bland and flavorless. The insalata di pomodori had an insultingly small amount of ricotta for a dish describing itself having ricotta. The pasta was nothing special. We were also charged for several bottles of water however none of that was indicated before hand. The service was extremely slow. You would think a Michelin star restaurant would have top notch service, and it has been in the past for every michelin spot Ive been to. This place was a sordid disappointment in comparison.

This was our fourth Michelin star experience and were happy to report that this one is near the top in food quality and taste. The Classico Negroni may very well be the best Ive ever had. The Enzo was just okay. The beef carpaccio and focaccia both were fantastic. We were especially blown away by the carpaccio. The lorghittas Al mare pasta didnt look as presentable, but tasted 10/10. The rack of lamb is where its at though. Weve never in our lives had such delicious, moist, tender lamb ever. It is mind blowingly good. It serves 2. The broccolini was okay. Then came the desserts. The Millefoglie al cocco is a dessert on flavor steroids. The burst of tropical fruit in every bite was just mouth watering. The Tiramisu was also very good but may not be everyones cup of tea. Different from what were generally used to. Stronger on the caffeine and alcohol but very soft and delicious. They surprised us with complementary sparkling wine as we were celebrating a special occasion. Our server was great and knew the menu inside out. Gave us fantastic suggestions. The ambiance is cozy but minimalist. The restaurant does not feel overcrowded and has just the perfect amount of seating.

Osteria Giulia was the choice to celebrate my friends birthday. I was a little hesitant because I wasn t a big fan of Giulietta and I know they are sister restaurants. The big kicker here is that they charge you for water per person. If I m being charged for water, I want to see the bottle being opened in front of me. These bottles they use look like they are being reused and just filled with tap water. I learnt that mistake from dining at Giulietta, paying $30 for flat water due to the per person charge. Olive Castelvetrano - They do give a good portion of olives and they are nice to snack on while you are waiting for your dishes. Burrata e Caviale - probably the most expensive burrata I ve ever purchased, due to the caviar. The flavours were subtle, I would even go by saying flavourless. The sourdough beard that it was served with was ok, just a tad bit burnt. Tagliolini al Granchio - presentation was very nice. Not my favourite out of the two. The temperature of the pasta when it was served was lukewarm, which I didn t like. I also preferred if the crab was a little more chunkier I guess you could say, instead of shredded. Tortelloni ai Funghi - probably my favourite dish. This was the pasta to catch my eye. A lot of flavour and presented beautifully. I love a pasta with mushrooms. I was hoping they had a mushroom risotto, but they didn t. Service - definitely better than what I received at Giulietta. The server was professional and well versed on the menu, as well as the wine. I don t like how they have the tip option set to 20% being the lowest. Although service was good, I believe the tip option should start at 15%. Ambiance - I had to wait for my table, and we were asked to stand near the bar area. There s very little room to stand there as it appeared I was constantly getting in the way of the servers. I did like the lay out of restaurant and thought the lighting was good. My friend and I had a good time. I d come back if they bring back the mushroom risotto dish, but a one time visit is more than enough. Vegetarian options: Two vegetarian pasta options. Dietary restrictions: They did ask about allergies and such, so I m assuming they can accommodate certain dishes. I would hope. Parking: There s a parking lot at Davenport and Avenue. Otherwise there s street parking. Parking right by the restaurant will be difficult since it appears those few spots are always taken. Kid-friendliness: Please don t bring your kids here, there s no kids menu and I didn t see any high chairs. Definitely not a kid friendly restaurant. Unless your kid is well behaved and has a refined palette, probably not the place.

The presentation of the food was impressive, but unfortunately, the taste didn t live up to the hype. The Vitello tonnato was the only standout item. The dessert, however, was quite generic and could be easily found at any cake shop. Additionally, the customer service was lacking. Despite arriving early, we were ignored by the staff who simply looked at us a few times waiting outside without acknowledging our presence. The silence was quite off-putting.

The experience started out rocky. I found the staff to be a bit cold. They also talk very fast and quietly, hard to catch the food descriptions. Though towards the end, they seemed to be more friendly and warm. The place is small, intimate but loud. It s a place to socialize not one to have a quiet relaxing meal at. Food wise; flavour was great, though not mind blowing. LORIGHITTAS al MARE - the seafood flavour was prominent but not overpowering. Seafood was cooked nicely as well, not chewy. Pasta was too undercooked. 20 more seconds would ve gone a long way. We found HAIR in this. You will see in the photo, but we moved it to the side. No we didn t tell management because I didn t want the hassle. It shouldn t have happened in the first place. PACCHERI alla GENOVESE - I loved this dish. It was savoury and the beef was so tender. But again pasta was too undercooked. I love my pasta al dente but this was just plain undercooked tbh. I can appreciate however their pasta was made. It didn t cause me any bloating as pasta normally would. So whichever ingredients or method they use is wonderful. CARRE di AGNELLO per due - We asked for medium but received medium rare. Lamb was not seasoned after slicing. A bit of salt would ve done wonders. I get why this restaurant received a Michelin star, but on the other hand I question why it did as well. I had a good enough experience but it was far from Michelin star standard experience. They don t run a tight ship. Consistency and quality are questionable. There are plenty others that are more deserving of the recognition.

As soon as I entered the restaurant, I started to smell a very bad odor, as if the restaurant had been flooded and they reopened the place and started serving without eliminating the smell of dirty water. This disturbing smell negatively affected our dining experience and raised serious doubts about the hygiene standards of the entire restaurant. I do not recommend visiting this restaurant until they fix this issue.

The room was a bit noisy due to its design. The dishes were of good quality, but served at the wrong temperature. The dessert was fine, though the tiramisu might have been too heavy on the caffeine. The pasta was acceptable, but nothing special. The service was somewhat mediocre, even inadequate for this type of cuisine. You have to ask for things multiple times, and the staff cant distinguish between Parmesan and Pecorino. The prices are much too high for a type of cuisine you could easily make at home. $28 for focaccia is simply not justified

Wonderful experience, even on my own. They didnt seem resentful even though I was essentially blocking two spots at the bar. The food was out of this world. The bartender who was also my server was so nice and willing to answer all my questions and chat about the food/drink. Started with the sbagliato Bianco, scallop crudo and the signature filled focaccia (which I dipped into the scallop vinaigrette). Then the mushroom tortellini and the millefeuille for dessert. Would go again to try more!

We had a very good meal at Osteria Giulia for a friends milestone birthday. We ordered a number of items to share (ranging from burrata to seafood to pasta to dessert and more), and everything was yummy. We previously went to sister restaurant Giulietta (this was several years ago, prepandemic), and I personally found that that meal was more memorable, and that the atmosphere and service were more authentic. Service was attentive and friendly. We sat by the bar at the front; my friend booked reservations as soon as they opened up booking for that date, but even then, all the dining room seats had been taken already. It goes without saying for any popular Toronto eatery let alone one with a Michelin star, but definitely book ahead! Street parking is available but like many other neighborhoods, can be busy during peak hours and weekends, so best to plan some extra time to find parking.

My wife and I came here for our 2nd wedding anniversary, and our dining experience was exceptional. Our server Mackenzie was spectacular, extremely knowledgeable, and recommended everything for us. The owner David Minicucci went above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful evening. The service was incredible, and the minimal yet charming decor added to the ambiance. The design was very beautiful. Warm, inviting and peaceful. Hats off to the interior designers here. The food fell short. Had the flavorless Burrata with caviar, the carpaccio with tuna cream which was rich and not a favorable combination, the squid pasta (underwhelming) and the lobster risotto which was great. Their selection of wines was very interesting. Spouse had an Amalfi coast wine that was just fascinating. The wines were actually our favorite part of the dinner. The service was surprisingly sub par. Server has absolutely zero personality. Wine list was taken away before we ordered wine, two dishes came out and I still was unable to order wine and had to flag another server down, had to flag another server down for some salt for the flavorless burrata and caviar and finally; with 50 minutes in our table time, our server comes over while my spouse is still drinking tea (because theres no decaf coffee [so not Italian of them]) and slaps the cheque down on the table but stops herself right before it hits and pulls back; will you guys be having anything else? No, you clearly want us out and want your tip money. If you want really good Italian food that is not pretentious and trying to hard, go to Blu. That place is a good time and around the same price for a better meal.

Like many others, I was so excited to finally experience Osteria Giulia for my Birthday Dinner, but disappointed to discover how average the cuisine is. I found the flavour profiles and textures at times just did not hit the mark. Food was brought out quickly so we felt rushed. Interior design was stunning. There was no single dish that we were overly impressed with. Veal Carpaccio - good but the fish sauce made for an overall odd pairing. Burrata - simple dish, lacked flavour, bread was grilled too much resulting in a charred / burnt taste. Lobster Risotto - our most enjoyed dish. Texture of lobster was perfect, crispy artichokes were a lovely textural component to the dish. Squid Pasta - I found the seafood had a nice consistency but too soft and light for the tough ropey hand made pasta noodles. The flavour lacked depth and was not thrilling as you would expect a unique dish like this too taste. The service is great in general, most staff are anticipating your needs with exception to our server who had no personality, no passion and brought the check out before we were finished (even though we still had plenty of time for our time blocked reservation). The menu pricing does not justified the flavours of the food. would not recommend this restaurant and will not plan to return.

It is a beautifully designed dining area (with a terrible entrance). Upon excitedly entering the restaurant the hostess attitude single handily killed the vibe in addition to letting us to know our table wasn t ready for our 7pm reservation. Seats at the bar would have been appropriate, as it was clearly available; instead we were told to wait on the side of the bar and the hostess put drink menus on the window sill. We dragged 2 bar chairs over ourselves to our window sill seat The bar tenders didn t pay us any attention for a while. I ordered a dirty martini - oddly he gave me an empty glass and the martini in a single serving wine carafe on ice (I poured the martini myself - weird af). The plates we ordered was great, our server was lovely. The sommelier was no where to be found and someone else(who knows who this guy was) suggested some poor pairings like a sparkling rose with veal? Ridiculous to have the same glasses for all wines - blasphemy to pour sparkling into a Bordeaux glass. We were not done our meal, and was advised they needed the table for the 9pm reso - even though we were seated almost 30 min late! I was more than happy to leave at this restaurant at this point. Manager came to our table, was courteous and did the best she could - comped our drinks and some gave us some dessert for the road.

Seafood (shrimp etc) were soooo fishy it didn t seem fresh or they added more fish sauce to the sauce? I m a big seafood fan and was very disappointed. Dessert was okay. Having just been let down by a Toronto staple and realizing that I never shared my thoughts on one of the greatest dining experiences that Ive ever had in my life while at Osteria Giulia, I felt compelled to share my praise today. This meal was over a year ago and I still think about it to this day. The food, the atmosphere, the service - all of it was pristine. I can remeber the entire meal from start to finish, all centred around the incredible Sea Urchin based pasta dish that blew me away. Vibrant and colourful dishes that got better and better with each bite. Stunning ingredients, immense love and creativity have gone into this ever growing menu. My God... the Lamb Chops... I almost forgot about that little bite of divinity! Breathtaking! That said, the food was only the beginning. The staff is without question some of the best in the city and most certainly among the best Ive experienced anywhere in the world. Always attentive but never invasive, always positive and more than happy to assist with any questions or recommendations. The service is so damn good here that youre almost certainly going to be depressed by the service elsewhere in the city after dining at Osteria Giulia. Additionally, everyone seems like a master of their craft here. Be it the table service and the front of the house or the culinary wizards in the back, this is the type of atmosphere where you know everyone is working to improve and exceed expectations with each and every table. Since dining here Ive recommended it to everyone. Ive sent my parents here for a lovely dinner and their praise echoes my own. I get you cant please everyone I suppose. The food is so focused and exemplary. I think of it often. What a great way to explore the Liguria region. Blessed.

We had a wonderful experience at Osteria Giulia, again. Dishes were creative with ingredients that are thoughtfully composed. The ambiance was cozy, boasting contemporary design with some traditional accents. Our sever Daniel was exceptional. After providing a detailed overview of the menu, he made fabulous recommendations suited towards our preferences. I highly recommend this restaurant for a casual dinner or a special occasion.

The food and atmosphere are exceptional. The service, however, really set this restaurant apart and gave us a wonderful experience. We showed up on a busy Thursday night the week before the holidays, and discovered to my horror that I had made the reservation for the wrong week. They then went above and beyond to figure out a way to seat us, thinking a table would free up in about half an hour. It ended up taking almost 90 minutes for a space to free up for us, but we were served drinks, the staff checked in on us regularly and overall time passed quickly until they were able to squeeze us in. It was my boyfriends birthday and I had made the reservation weeks in advance so they really helped save the night and turn what could have been a huge disappointment into a wonderful experience. We will definitely be back

Michelin star presentation and taste of food for sure! We dined in the summer and I took some lovely photos the food was delicious and the atmosphere was fantastic. Steak was good and we thought the fish and appetizers were all so gorgeously presented. Elegance of the food was very satisfying. The atmosphere was dim and set the mood of a very classy yet comforting restaurant.

Snagged a reservation for my birthday and was beyond excited to see if this restaurant lived up to the hype. We ordered to our hearts content as we wanted to try everything on the menu. The must try: the veal carpaccio, the grilled calamari, the rabbit ragu, and the seasonal pasta they had at the time with sea urchin. The ambiance was cozy, clean and intimate. The dessert we ordered was the millefoglie, which we were pretty excited about. However, we thought the millefoglie was 5/10. We think it would be worth trying the other desserts on the menu!

One of the hottest (e.g. Hard to get reservation) and definitely the best Italian restaurant in Toronto. The service is a highlight. The waitress was very professional and great in providing recommendation. Checking in on us without being intrusive and was very kind. Food menu highlights: - Foccacia bread - Seafood platter - Rack of Lamb - Hand braided pasta - Mont blanc dessert Overall per person is just over $200 which is a little high, but justifiable given food quality, finesse, ambiance and perfection.

Food was okay, service was good. We came here with a group of 4, maybe our expectations were high from our other Michelin restaurant experiences but it was nothing special. Food tasted good, but nothing out of the normal. I have eaten at one of their sister restaurants Giulietta which I though was better. Would i come back? probably not, as i have experienced better food and service at other Michelin star restaurants.

Inside appearance is flawless and clean. Staff pay special attention to you as soon as you enter and are very welcoming. We had bar seats, which were great because we got to enjoy the bar staff craft their many specialty cocktails. Menu was thoroughly expanded to us with reccomended dishes for first-time visitors. Starters were quite good. We had the acciughe e burro and foccaccia di recco. For mains, we had the rabbit ragu tagliatelle and seafood platter. Rabbit ragu was good, but not something I would go back for. Seafood platter was very good with high quality fish and seafood. I would definitely recommend it. We finished with the montebianco desert, which was unique and delicious. I gave 4 stars due to the price point. Food was quality, but nothing mind-blowing. 2 cocktails, 1 glass of wine, 1 brandy, with food, tax, and tip was $450. But, hey. Michelin star restaurant in Toronto.

We very much enjoyed our dinner at Osteria Giulia. To start with, the cocktails were unique and interesting. The focaccia di recco and Vitelli tonato were outstanding as were the ravioli doppi and gnocchi tartuffo. However the paccheri genovese was a bit disappointing as the pasta was slightly overcooked and there was not enough of the topping. The service was terrific with the exception of the wine service, where we had to ask to have our glasses refilled more than once an easy solution would be to leave the bottle on the table. Thank you for a very enjoyable evening.

I ve been wanting to try Osteria Giulia ever since they opened, even before they got their Michelin star. I finally got a reservation to come here for my birthday dinner and I was disappointed. TLDR: the service was bad and the food lacks depth and refinement and therefore isn t worth the money - it does not compare to other Michelin restaurants I ve been to. ~ I ve worked in restaurants and also have my fair share of experience dining at high-quality restaurants around the world. I m more than happy to pay lots for good food, but in my opinion this was just pretentious and not worth it. I wish I d chosen a different restaurant for my birthday, especially given the bad service The first thing I noticed when me & my boyfriend walked in was the not so friendly greeting by the hostess. I don t know what it was but the interaction with her was very underwhelming and gave me a bad first impression of the restaurant. she asked us if we wanted to do coat check when we were already at the table - it was a bit crowded and weird that she didn t ask us when we were at the front. Also no birthday greeting (from anyone throughout the whole night) but it was noted on the reservation. Just acknowledging these small details makes a huge difference to the overall experience! But also as a restaurant with a Michelin star, their standards should be a lot more refined with how they treat their guests. The waitress did not come by for a while after we sat, and when she did she also lacked any warmth or friendliness in greeting us, asking us how we were doing, if we ve dined here before or offering to walk us through the menu - she did not let us know about the specials they had that evening, and I know this because I heard another server telling his table when we were already halfway through our meal. This waitress was very standoffish and did the bare minimum. She literally took our orders, and besides me asking what she d recommend as an appetizer, that s the extent of the interaction we had with her. For this calibre of a restaurant she needs to be doing much more in terms of friendliness, making us feel welcome, and showing passion for the food they serve !! The rest of the staff who walked our food out to the table did a good job of explaining all the components of the dishes. I m mostly just very disappointed with the waitress. The food we had: foccacia - this was good. I love all things with cheese, but a little more salt would have made the flavour even better. calamari - this was decent but didn t feel refined based on my expectations for this place my bf had the vongole - he liked how it had lots of flavour lobster ravioli - also lots of flavour and I liked the corn and ricotta but again was missing that refinement I was expecting. it wasn t bad either but it s just not a dish I m obsessed with or would come back for Overall the flavours didn t feel balanced. Food was not bad but not up to my expectations. To be fair, I just came from having meals at some outstanding restaurants in New York and Miami so my expectations are high, but at the same time if you have a Michelin star you need to do better. If I m thinking of Italian restaurants to dine in Toronto, this would not be the first that comes to mind and I wouldn t recommend based on my experience. I could have chosen a different restaurant for my birthday, potentially spent way less, and been way more satisfied. because of the disappointment, we decided not to get dessert. when my boyfriend asked to get his wallet from his jacket in coat check, the waitress brought mine as well as if we were being rushed to leave. not a pleasant experience. on a positive note, I loved the beautiful interior! I feel bad saying all the criticism because I m sure the kitchen does put a lot of effort into their work and I really wanted to like this place but my experience was underwhelming and the food unfortunately wasn t amazing enough to make up for the bad service.

We came here for my birthday dinner the other night! The food is great- however not amazing. We started with the Foccacia, as well as the veal carpaccio (I would say it s one of the best I ve had). The service was good. The server somehow came up to us as the worst times. Of course the servers know the food and make recommendations but apparently everything on the menu was their favorite . The tiramisu was also great! Highly recommend as it s a little different from your typical tiramisu. Amazing ambiance- very dim lighting and a very visually appealing restaurant.

Food was okay, nothing spectacular. Expensive as you expect. Portion sizes are what you expect of this class of restaurant. Beware as they charge $3 per person for filtrated tap water. Would be nice if they mentioned it as sparkling water is the same price. Also, the bar seating is awful when you have people who are waiting for a table having a conversations a foot away from diners.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Osteria Giulia to celebrate my daughters 23rd birthday, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish. This establishment deserves nothing less than a full 5-star rating for its exceptional food, impeccable service, and delightful atmosphere. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and genuine enthusiasm from the staff. They went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and catered to our every need throughout the evening. It was evident that they were committed to providing a top-notch dining experience. Lets talk about the food it was nothing short of extraordinary. Each dish that graced our table was a masterpiece in both presentation and taste. The chefs creativity shone through in every bite, and the flavors were an exquisite blend of textures and ingredients. We savored every morsel, from the appetizers to the desserts. The menu offered a wide range of options, ensuring that there was something to please every palate. It was clear that the kitchen staff took great pride in their craft. The service was impeccable. Daniel our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and provided excellent recommendations. They ensured that our glasses were never empty, our plates were cleared promptly, and that we felt like valued guests throughout the evening. Our daughters birthday was made extra special with a surprise dessert presentation, complete with candles and a heartfelt rendition of Happy Birthday by the staff. Now, lets talk about the atmosphere. The restaurant was beautifully decorated, creating an elegant and cozy ambiance. The lighting was just right, allowing us to appreciate our surroundings and each others company without feeling rushed. It was a serene oasis where we could relax, enjoy our meal, and celebrate our daughters milestone birthday. Our experience at Osteria Giulia exceeded our expectations in every way. It was a truly memorable evening, and we couldnt have chosen a better place to celebrate our daughters 23rd birthday. If youre looking for a restaurant that offers outstanding food, impeccable service, and a delightful atmosphere, look no further. We will definitely be returning to Osteria Giulia for future special occasions and recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone looking for an unforgettable dining experience.

How is this place Michelin starred? The food managed to be salty and yet bland all at the same time. The chef is a tv personality and not even a real chef , and the food is beyond mediocre. The bread is not even made in house. Avoid this place at all costs, waste of money nothin but hype.

Food was ok, service from Fernando was exemplary <3 Boyfriend and I decided to try out Osteria Giulia on our trip to Toronto. Perhaps our expectations were too high from our experiences with other Michelin starred restaurants but we didn t find the food to be anything special. Everything tasted fine; the salad and dessert pictured were delicious but the mains were just fine. With 1 cocktail, 1 glass of (good!) wine, and 1 non-alcoholic drink (plus taxes and tip), dinner came out to around $400 for the two of us which was definitely not worth it. On the other hand, the rest of the dining experience we received from our server Fernando was truly fantastic. He was very welcoming and friendly, and obviously knew the menu very well. The appetizer salad was one of his recommendations and we really liked it. Though the food overall turned out to be a bit of a letdown, he ensured our evening was still enjoyable. Thank you Fernando!
