My experience at Pasaj was, unfortunately, disappointing from the start. When I arrived, I was greeted by an unfriendly girl at the entrance wearing a green sweater, glasses, and piercings. She didn’t smile and gave off an unpleasant attitude, which set a negative tone for the visit. I had the impression that the girl at the entrance was upset that I showed up for my reservation😒😕 Once seated, I waited for 20 minutes without anyone approaching me. No water, no offer of drinks — nothing. Meanwhile, three women were constantly attending to other tables, ensuring those guests were taken care of, while I was completely ignored. When I finally managed to place an order, I was made to wait again — this time for tap water! To make matters worse, a couple who arrived much later than me received their drinks and food far quicker. It felt unfair and disrespectful. I couldn’t help but wonder if the poor service was because I came alone for brunch. If so, that’s absolutely unacceptable. Dining solo doesn’t mean one deserves subpar treatment. It’s disheartening to feel invisible in a place that should prioritize all guests equally. To be fair, the other women who served me later on were polite and seemed more attentive, but by then, the initial bad impression was hard to shake. On a positive note, the food itself was delicious. By the time it arrived, I was so hungry that I finished everything quickly. I sincerely hope Pasaj focuses on improving the experience for all customers, regardless of the circumstances. Great food deserves equally great service.

Come early, this place fills up quick, for good reason! The food was really yummy, I ended up getting the sujuk Benedict and was not disappointed. Also got a cappuccino and they do cute cappuccino art too :) I'll be back for sure.

There ambiance and service at this place is amazing, the food was also good just not something I would personally give a 5/5, just cause I'm not a huge fan of yogurt and the pancakes were topped with it. A plus was that the ingredients tasted fresh.

I have been living abroad since 2006. One of my pleasure and hobby is trying fusion food. Especially in North America. Unfortunately, it is very hard to find fusion Turkish restaurant especially in NA. The pasaj restaurant is well located in Toronto and great taste of Turkish food. Original recipes which i edited from my mum’s recipes:) re great presentation but, I believe the main courses look small :) ( frankly speaking I was full tho.) and the service is a little bit slow but the people are friendly. The table by the glass was so hot need a cutie curtain.:) wish you the best and please keep the quality.

Genuinely enjoyed our brunch visit here. We got the famous pancakes, salmon Benedict, Sucuk Benedict and the Shrimp Benedict. The servers were very nice and accommodating and the food was very delicious. I will say that we were a bit surprised by the pancakes being topped with labneh instead of cream cheese, but it all worked well together. Server confirmed all meats are halal except the bacon (which is cooked separately).

It is extremely loud inside. It’s tough to have a quiet and private conversation. The pancakes are good but the hot hummus is very salty. I couldn’t eat it so they were respectful about it and took it off the bill and offered something else in return but we declined.

Full marks for setting - the wainscoting, the greenery, the decor, and the large windows and high ceilings give this place an airy quality perfect for brunch. The pancakes, although beautiful, just fell short of expectations. The texture was more cake-y than fluffy and made them crumble easily. However, we appreciated that that cherry flavour was subtle and the pistachios and halva toppings gave the dish a nice nuttiness. The creaminess of the labne also complemented the nuttiness. The sucek benedict was great. Serving benedict on zucchini fritters is brilliant. The eggs were perfectly poached and served on a generous portion of sucek sausage slices. However, I found the potatoes to be on the salty side.

The food was good. Would Not recommend the celery root salad. The french toast is on the dry side but we enjoyed it. Would suggest pancakes instead. No pastries or baklava at this location for the weekend brunch

I had a reservation at 1030am on Dec 8th Sunday, happy to get on a call with the management team to elablorate on my feedback. I am the only reservation with a table of 3 people. 1) we waited for 15mins to be acknowledged by our server who is a middle aged blond lady (perhaps she can use some coaching). We tried to make eye contact with other servers and no one wants to interact with us and provide us with some water, we waited and waited and 15mins later we got some water 2) I ordered salmon eggs bene and the fritter pattie was grimy and seedy tasting, I checked the ingredients and its made of zucchini which shouldnt have seeds or grimes in it, hence its most likely not washed properly 3) we were seated inside of the restaurant and we were cold, we had to put our winter jackets back on In summary, very disappointing experience, poor service and bad food quality; I would have mentioned something and send the plate back but I was with guests and didnt want to be that person. Again, happy to jump on a call to discuss further if you are interested in improving your business.

I was really excited to try this place but that excitement died down pretty quickly. We were seated quickly despite not having reservations but were told right off the bat that there was a 90 minutes seating limit. I dont know about you but I love being rushed when Im eating... The joke is, service here is so slow that you might be close to that 90 min limit and still not done eating because your food took forever to arrive. The place is also super loud and its impossible to talk at a normal volume. Our order was taken and we ordered the zucchini fritters, the hunkar and the pancakes. The fritters and pancakes arrived first, but not our main. Thankfully, it arrived by the time we were done with the fritters, which were super oily and nothing to rave about. Also, given the price of zucchini, $12 for 2 meh fritters is steep. The hunkar was surprisingly bland and lacked SALT. Thank God the pancakes were good cause wed given up on their food at that stage. The food isnt cheap here, so if Im spending money at a restaurant, I want to feel like Im getting the best bang for my buck and unfortunately, it isnt the case here so spend your money elsewhere.

We visited Pasaj for brunch with a reservation for 5, it was our first time and we were so excited to try the brunch, but unfortunately, had a few last-minute cancellations. We called ahead to inform the restaurant and offer to move to a smaller table. Although the hostess was kind, the managers behaviour was disappointing. On arrival, the manager reminded us that they usually charge a fee for last-minute changes, despite our prior notification. Furthermore, we were warned that a note would be placed on our file, and we would be charged next time if we showed up with fewer people in our party. This tone was unprofessional and rude. We had already read and understood the cancellation policy, and when providing our credit card details, we acknowledged the potential charges. The managers added reminder was unnecessary and felt confrontational. As we were preparing to leave within our allotted 1.5-hour time frame, the manager rushed us as we were getting our baby ready to go, stating that there were people waiting. We might as well have not been accommodated to begin with if we were going to be treated so rudely. EDIT** after the owners horrific response I wanted to clarify that we have proof of payment that our bill was settled at 12:25 PM (under our allotted 1.5 time slot) and we were being rushed out regardless. I can also confirm we notified the restaurant before arriving we would have less guests and to feel free to move us to another table. We wouldn t have minded waiting, or even paying the fee we agreed to when booking the reservation. The lack of general respect and kindness here is appalling. I have never been treated this way at a restaurant in my life. As a new mom, dining out with a baby can be intimidating, and we will never return here again. The food and server was lovely, and it s a shame that an interaction with their owner has clouded our opinion of this business which we were so excited to try in our community.

Today I was really looking forward to dining at Pasaj with my friends, but unfortunately we left disappointed. All the food that we ordered was cold and lacked flavour. They all were just overhyped and overpriced and didn t meet our expectations. For the price, we expected more generous servings but the portions were surprisingly small. And we all left still feeling hungry. I hope the restaurant considers improving portion sizes to provide better value for their customers. I hope they can improve on these areas because the location and ambiance have a lot of potential.

Went to try the pancakes but I dont think its worth the hype. Looks pretty but It was quite dry. Also tried the kofte and piyaz dish and it was just alright. Nothing exceptional tastewise for both dishes. The restaurant itself is pretty but mind you it is very loud inside and was not the best dining experience. Overall- pretty restaurant with good service. Food average at best.

This Turkish-inspired brunch restaurant has a gorgeous and polished interior. It is quite a popular spot, especially on weekends & holidays, so be prepared for a lengthy wait if you do not have a reservation. We ordered the Poseidon, Kofte & Piyaz (not pictured), salmon benedict, and grandmas pancakes. The food was presented beautifully, but most of the food itself was pretty average. The salmon benedict the most memorable; the zucchini fritters that came with it were great. The bean salad that came with the Kofte & Piyaz was my least favourite item

A Turkish restaurant whose name I heard praised by an Ethiopian chef, showing that Turkish cuisine is not just about kebabs. I was excited to dine here considering hearing rave reviews but was extremely disappointed. Walking in, was told it would be a 30-40 mins wait for a table of 5. In the 2-3 minutes following while trying to figure out elsewhere to go (not wanting to wait that long), multiple large parties got up and left so was able to get sat in 5 minutes but was immediately told that we had to leave in 90 minutes. Loved that the wait wasn t long, however the demeanour of the woman who greeted us, her attitude came across as if we were inconveniencing her by coming in to dine. The service onwards wasn t great, having to call our server over a few times to place orders as well as request the bill - it wasn t busy/packed once we sat down. The food was the worst part. It was actually insulting the meal portions for the price charged and on top of that lacked flavour. Overall extremely disappointing

September 23, 2024

The food here is nothing Turkish or Turkish inspired please do not go here and expect to have anything that is anywhere near a tasty Turkish breakfast. The grandmas pancakes so popular but when they arrived at our table they were cold, hard and lacked flavour. The mucver under the eggs Benedict was raw in the middle. The orange juice was definitely from a bottle. When we ordered our check we waited 10 minutes for it to arrive. And when check arrived we said nothing until the hostess asked if we wanted a box and we said no we didn t like the pancakes. She almost didn t even reply and then simply said no? Quietly and left the machine to me to complete payment rather than wait to finish payment and send us out.

We stumbled upon Pasaj after walking down Queen St. and noticing the stunning, beautiful interior design and inviting patio space, in addition to hearing about it online. The service, food, and overall experience did not disappoint. If you are looking for a unique brunch than what the Toronto food scene typically offers, look no further. Our order consisted of the salmon benedict and hunkar, which provided a very different, hearty flavour profile. The hunkar had a delectable beef stew that was perfectly tender and combined with the charred eggplant was an outstanding pairing for the baked pide. The zucchini fritters (served with the salmon benedict) were certainly worth it for the visit to Pasaj and were described to us by the friendly owner as standard Turkish cuisine. Suffice to say, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this lovely gem in Leslieville and cannot wait to return.

After hearing about Grandmas Pancakes, it was hard to resist going with the latter option, and what I got were three thick, fluffy pancakes stacked high on top of each other with a tart cherry compote and a light cream cheese topping. Who receives 2 email 1 text message to confirm the reservation? You will if you make a reservation in here Who receives there is an hour and half dining acknowledgement at the table ? You will.. Here I am Who will get kid s menu size portions like finger size bowl or 3 meatballs per order for nothing less than $22 for each meal and trust me You will get it here Who will see waitress standing front of you watching if you are putting minimum set %19 tip or not ? You will get it here .. one last thing train your staff to pronounce food names correctly what they supposed to be served professionally If you wanna see what I mean ask them to pronounce Mucver or Hünkar instead of staring at the customer about the tip percentage The way you running this business looks like people needs you and you decide how to treat and approach them Customer has the money and the money is the Boss it was my first and definitely last experience in there .. No Thank you for ruining our Mother s Day Brunch experience One last thing Check your receipt if you drink a glass of wine for $ 13 this people charge you %100 of $13 so they call Alcohol Total . So you pay $ 26 for a glass of wine !! Well done on your hidden robbery for this place oh wow !! This is an embarrassing way of treating customers

Place looks gorgeous, and you just naturally want to eat here with the big glass windows and the beautiful green plants. Weve had brunch a few times here, and they have a good amount of options that are Turkish influenced.. we try the shakshuka and eggs benedict. The food was okay.. the salad was very tiny in a condiment Bowl actually for the shakshuka, and for the eggs benedict, the salad was very not fresh. The eggs benedict were okay, and portions could have been better, and quality could have been better. The seller here is the stack of pancakes that are with pomegranate sauce and pistachio, and that was very delicious... Theres no doubting that! All in all, the experience of being there is great. The food could definitely have a level up in quality for the cost they are charging for sure.

My sons and I treated my wife to brunch at Pasaj for Mother s Day (by request). We were all excited for fluffy pancakes, good coffee and charming ambiance for our celebration. Unfortunately our experience, from the moment of placing a reservation, continuing at our arrival, and throughout the meal, left not something, but everything to be desired. The reservation system was malfunctioning at the time I attempted to secure a table, and two email requests for assistance yielded no response, even after 24 hours. When we were eventually able to make a reservation for Mother s Day, (at a time not ideal for our schedule) the confirmation message Pasaj sent cannot be described as anything less than pretentiously rude. When we arrived (early, due to Pasaj s thinly veiled threats of financial recrimination and dire warnings of reservations being cancelled if a late arrival occurred) our hostess could not find our reservation under my wife s name, despite this being the name I used, hoping to make the experience feel centric to her as much as possible. Fortunately I had retained the (rude) confirmation email, and we were eventually seated at a dimly lit table near the back of the space. Hoping the positive portion of our experience was about to begin, we were further disappointed when the waitress unapologetically misgendered my son, before informing us that the children could not have juice unless they ordered from the children s menu. The coffee, where much of my personal hopes for the experience lay, left me not wanting more, but rather looking forward to my reunion with the tavel cup of home coffee I had left in the car. Once our food had arrived at our table, our waitress abandoned us entirely until we were forced to seek out a member of staff and request the bill. Rather than bringing it however, she and another waitress took turns harassing us to leave a positive review. Good food can of course, gloss over significant acts of ignorance, poor manners and incompetence on the part of restaurant staff. Our food however was inadequate, not only to satisfy our disappointment, but also our taste. The fritters were soggy and cold, the eggs overcooked, and the pancakes a sorry excuse for those so often photographed, which had incited our curiosity. Following such an experience, I would be tempted to say that I will never return, however in this case, I would be more than happy to eat at this location again, should another restaurant, one more able to deliver at least adequate food and staff capable of basic courtesy, replace the clearly inadequate, tasteless and vulgar Pasaj.

Todays dining experience left much to be desired. While the food was passable, the attitude displayed by the manager, Daniela, was a significant disappointment. Despite my polite requests to add an order of pancakes, literally 2 minutes after they told us the kitchen closed, Danielas response was curt and lacking in hospitality. As a seasoned diner with over 500 restaurant visits (just in Toronto) documented on my Instagram account (_2pranta) I ve never had such an encounter. I expect a higher level of professionalism from the manager. Regrettably, based on this encounter, I cannot recommend this venue to others.

Food is mediocre at best overall overrated because of the atmosphere. The kofta is raw inside.

Nice place with a very pleasant environment. I loved the plants at the entrance of the restaurant. We went for brunch and the quality of food was great. However, the service was not satisfying. We had to waif for 25 minutes to get a table although we had reserved. And the waitress pretty much forgot to come and take our orders until we grabbed their attention to our table. We reserved for 12 pm but we actually started having food past 1:10 pm. So I thought everything was so slow but other than that, its great place. Parking: Green P stations are easily found around there.

The manager has super cool face, seems like who owns her 1 million dollar. Say no to all our requests, like no power plug, no this kind of food for takeout. Seems like she s Asian-hate. My friend gives them 10% tips for takeout, not for her, for other service providers. 146$ for three Benedict meals and a pancake. Not worth it.

Location: The restaurant is situated in a quaint and intimate setting with limited seating, making reservations essential prior to attending. Parking: Street meter parking is available nearby. Ambiance: The ambiance can be very loud, especially on Sundays when large groups are booked. Not ideal for a relaxed dining experience. Service: The service was polite and professional. Food: Unfortunately, the food was average at best. Value: Considering the prices being charged, there is room for improvement in portion sizes to enhance value for customers. Suggestions: It is highly recommended to make reservations in advance to secure seating. Dining Time: Our experience was during brunch hours. Overall, Pasaj Restaurant offers a charming location and professional service, but improvements are needed in the food quality and portion sizes to enhance the overall dining experience.

5th time here since they opened. Prices have gone up and the food is pretty basic and everything is $20+. No more takeout either. Shakshouka at Frankie s is better. Poseidon salmon sandwich comes deconstructed (a bit of smoked salmon, simit bagel, cucumber, cream cheese) Also the wait time after ordering was long for a weekday lunch (almost 40min) and our server didn t smile once :/ As someone who used to live on King/Queen West around bustling brunch spots, this place is trendy but quality does not hold up and there are better options in the Leslieville area now. If we come back, I ll be trying the pancakes to hopefully change my mind

Gorgeous brunch restaurant in Leslieville. Stopped in for a quick brunch bite, got a seat by the window which was great for people watching. Lush and green with plants when you enter. Tried the sucuk Benedict, which was zucchini fritters topped with poached eggs, Turkish sausage and a delicious whipped feta sauce. So so good! The Benny was served with crispy oven roasted potatoes and salad. The salad complimented the eggs Benny and the feta sauce was unique and tasty. Would highly recommend. The space is bright and staff were friendly. Vegetarian options: Offers vegetarian options Parking: Paid street parking along Queen st E Kid-friendliness: Kid friendly

Fantastic brunch spot. The sunroom was gorgeous with the sun shining through and the food was amazing. Pancakes taste like old school, made in house jelly filled doughnuts, so rich. The eggs Benedict were so good and get the pastirma, its incredible. Side bagel and hummus were beloved by the 1yr old and the bottomless coffee was good too. Turkish latte better. Awesome service, lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend !

And service/staff was super lovely. Would stop by for a coffee and try a pastry next time - just wouldn t brunch here.

Waiters service was not good, did not seem to care. Waited 40 minutes for the most basic tasting food. Atmosphere: Its pretty, thats all that it is. You are paying for the atmosphere than the food. Also the wooden chairs are extremely uncomfortable, made my wait feel longer. If you go, make sure you get the cushioned seatings!!!

I highly recommend to make a reservation if you dont want to wait for almost 1 hr to get a table. As my first experience, the hostess was irritated and stressed because there was a line up inside the restaurant and there is not enough space so she was asking constantly asking people to move, but there was nowhere to move. Finally we got a table and I found a hair in my plate that was in the base plate, I removed it without saying anything but they should pay more attention to this. The waitress was really sweet and provided a good service. To conclude I would say I wouldnt go again unless I have a reservation.

Jessica is an awesome woman! So kind, loving and patient. She deserves a raise and the absolute best! Grandmas Pancake is what I got. The thing stopping me from giving the Food rating section a full 5-stars, is because they only have an option of the sour cherry syrup, that comes with the pancake along with cherries too as a base taste. For a place like this which offers tasty really tasty pancakes, they should offer more syrup kinds and fruits for the pancake. For me, the cherries taste nice, but I think the cherry syrup itself coupled with the cherries, makes the experience sour. And voids the joy of enjoying the pancake altogether. The Labnah is AWESOME and the Halwa nuts are spectacular! Everything is given in more than enough portions, and it feels healthy too! The pancakes are fluffy and filling, and the smell of fresh eggs can be tasted as you go through it! The ambience is relieving and calming. I just feel the chairs and the tables can be more comfortable and in appropriate levels to the seating position and reach, only to make the experience ergonomic and restful. I personally thought the pricing was fine for the Grandmas Pancake, but the pricing on the espresso can be a bit more affordable and reasonable.

Had 2 horribly racist encounters here in the span of a year. I reached out to them regarding my last visit and waited 3 weeks for them to respond and nothing just read each message on Instagram DM with no reply. They clearly don t care about how customers are treated here. At this point, you re better off going to any other brunch place in Leslieville that actually cares about their customers. Not worth the hype at all.

Although if you want some nice IG photos - sure. Other dishes lacked depth, flavour and originality. The service was nice. Waiting time is too long for what you get. We got there at 1 pm and ordered the eggs Benedict , French toast and a latte . The coffe came fast however the food took around 45 minutes to come if I would have known that I would have left because I was really hungry , i understood because there was only one server at the time . When the food came in I noticed another server was helping . The food was okay , eggs Benedict were good except for the zucchini fritters . I love dill but , when it s the only thing I can taste when I take a bite I m not such a fan , potatoes where good more over they run out of the salad so I got tomatoes and cucumber really plain but nice . Latte was really good . For the French toast it was two big pieces of toast in a really small plate to say that the server dropped a few berries when giving us the plate tells you is not the right size of plate , as for the taste I would say is not a French toast and is more like a toasted brioche bread with a little bit of egg on the outside it was a bit dry to say the least but tasted good. For service I wish I could have gotten a napkin I had to steal a napkin for the table beside me never once asked how everything was going which it was fine at first since it was only one server. It s a nice place with good atmosphere really good coffee . As a coffee lover I would go back for coffee and try the pastries .

Went for brunch with friends and we split our dishes. The shakshuka was too acidic. It definitely needed a lot more feta than what I got to cut the acidity. The pastirma was good. I added some labne from the pancake to my shakshuka and it tasted better. The mucver was good but kind of underwhelming at five dollar a piece. The star is the sour cherry jam pancake. The flavour and texture was on point. Very very delicious. Point deducted for the atmosphere and service. It took an hour for the food to arrive. We got seated indoor; it was extremely loud and over packed. The tables were very close to each other. I could not hear my friend sitting across me unless she was yelling. Until you start talking to let them know yoy exist. Next thing you know after waiting 10 minutes, is that all the desserts are not available. Not a single one of them, even though they are on the menu. Even the waiter said, yeah, they should remove it. Wow. Perhaps the meals are ok but with such a experience, and if yoh respect yourself, why come here? Nothing fancy nor catching.

This place, and I cannot stress this enough, sucks. 1 hour wait for our food to come out after ordering. Only 1 other table of 2 in the dining room was served in that time. Food was meh. My zuc fritters were soggy/raw in the middle. Hollandaise was bland. Pancakes were good but nothing special. Hot hummus also meh. We also ordered the pancakes and they were just a weird texture. I think it was just over cooked. Aesthetically pleasing though- that s about it. The best food items were a small side order of sucuk and the simit. The bread bowl had a couple of types of bread that were just not good. Atmosphere wise, the place is stunning. But they ve whitewashed Turkish culture. For example, tea is served in a white cup instead of traditional Turkish tea glasses. Details like this matter imo. The place is still cute, however they left no time between reservations, so regardless on being sit 15 min late due to them, they reminded us 5 times that we needed to leave after 90min after the original reservation time. It was very stressful and at the end we hadn t finished the pancakes and they basically took the plate away because we needed to leave. Honestly the whole experience becomes stressful and I would like the manager/owner to reflect on whether is worth serving one more table per day by pressing customers with these 90 min - with no buffer in between reservations- and therefore loosing customers who will never come back.

We wish we had asked them to serve the pancakes at the end as opposed to with our mains, as it wasn t warm by the time we got to it. I enjoyed the pancakes but my friends did wish they were a bit fluffier. We weren t huge fans of the labne on top but we liked the cherry jam and tahini halva. They were very prompt to let us know when our 1.5 hr timeslot was up, as there was a group scheduled for our table right afterwards. They also have a counter to the side where you can also order pastries to go!

Second time here. Had to wait a long time for lunch. The food was very good as usual and the service was excellent. Sat inside because the summer patio is now closed.

I m pretty sure this is the second time in 20 years I ve gotten diarrhea from a restaurant. But I write this review, hunched over in pain from the confines of my porcelain throne, violently expunging the remains of my salmon+benedict.

This place is a Turkish delight (even tho my conservative Turkish boyfriend considered it to be westernized Turkish food This is a perfect weekend brunch spot with nice authentic interior, lots of light and delicious food. Everything we tried I d order again and again. DO MAKE RESERVATION if you wanna check this out cause we have waited almost 1hr 30min on the waitlist on a Sunday morning (but it was worth it lol). Last but not least, I wanna thank the lady with the light kare hair who was behind the bar that day for being so accommodating and nice (she was the only one from the staff who reacted on my boyfriends favor to close the blinds as the sun was blinding us).

I had the egg benedict for brunch, one with pastrami and one with smoked salmon - both excellent choices. The servings are big; I couldn t even finish mine. They offer unlimited coffee, which is a better choice than their special drinks I tried the Turkish mocha. The place is beautiful, but there s usually a wait, I really wanted to get to the special area, and that has not happened yet. Despite that, the fantastic food will have me returning to try more.

Beautiful cafe but hyped. FOOD: Pancake: I was disappointed, its so dense like a pound cake. I had to swallow it together with water. I like the berries and lots of cream on top. Mucver Benedict (avocado): this one is good but portion is small. Very small toast with not so much avocado, too much potato. COFFEE: Turkish coffee: the best thing here. Its so good that I couldnt have caffeine but I risked it and took 3 coffee. SERVICE: the waitress was mumbling I couldnt hear a word she said. I was rushed to get out right after I finished my plate. And got rushed again after I got my 2nd coffee. VIBE: cute decoration, but very noisy, very. Its smaller than I thought but full of green and natural light.
