Caribbean meets Asian Soul Food. Tropical Cocktails with a vibrant fun atmosphere. Award winning Juicy Jerk Chicken. Patois is a reflection of Chef Craig Wong’s years of fine dining French cuisine training & Jamaican Chinese heritage.
Patois Restaurant 📍 794 Dundas St W, Toronto, ON M6J 1V1 Nestled in the vibrant heart of Toronto, Patois is a gem that masterfully blends Caribbean and Chinese flavors. One standout dish is the Pineapple Bun Burger, a delightful fusion that perfectly encapsulates the restaurant's innovative spirit. This burger combines flavorful burger patties with the sweet and slightly tangy notes of a pineapple bun, offering a taste sensation that is both familiar and exotic. Caribbean cuisine often doesn't get the recognition it deserves, largely because the most authentic and delicious dishes are typically found in the cozy kitchens of an aunty or uncle, or in unassuming hole-in-the-wall eateries. However, Patois is changing the game by making these rich, flavorful dishes accessible to a broader audience. Toronto is fortunate to have a wealth of excellent Caribbean food options, and Patois plays a crucial role in putting this cuisine on the map for newcomers and locals alike. By offering a menu that celebrates the bold and diverse flavors of the Caribbean, Patois ensures that everyone can enjoy the culinary treasures that this culture has to offer. Whether you're a seasoned foodie or just starting your culinary journey, Patois is a must-visit destination that promises to delight and inspire.
We ordered the feast for 2, and the standout was the moist and flavorful fried chicken—perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. The side dishes complemented the meal wonderfully. However, the jerk chicken fell short for me; it was slightly cold and had overly strong, unbalanced flavors that didn’t quite hit the mark. The lemonade, while refreshing, felt a bit overpriced for what it offered.
This place was an absolute highlight of visiting Toronto. Recommended by a local Toronto resident - I was impressed with this one. The ambiance of the location when you walk in is pretty nice. The myriad of food options we ordered came on a round spinner in the center of the table, allowing us to share food very easily. So we ordered all types of things that were all amazing. The food is a mix of Asian/Carribbean fusion, which was a new thing for me, but I was so full & left wanting more still! It didn't photograph well, but the most memorable thing I got was the cookie butter french toast that was one of the most delicious desserts I've gotten at a restaurant in a long long time. Could definitely do this again.
Heard about this restaurant from Will Lou in one of his podcasts and it did not disappoint! We will 100% be coming back, so many more things to try. You must get the shrimp pasta and caesar salad, the flavour is incredible. Great service and friendly atmosphere. 10/10!
The food here was delicious. We tried the brunch menu (so it didn't have a lot of the most commonly reviewed items) and opted for a Create Your Own Ultimate Brunch with two items and a side ($48). I think that's cheaper than if you bought everything separately, but maybe just by a few bucks? We chose the Patois Eggs Benny and Fried Chicken and Waffles, and the Trini Mac Pie (+$6). So in all, our meal was $54 and around $70 including tax and tip. The chicken and waffles was AMAZING - the cornbread waffles were such a great texture and flavour, and the chicken was seasoned perfectly. I seriously could have had a bucket of chicken. The one issue I had was that the sweet waffles kept attracting wasps, and we weren't even seated outside! We ended up scarfing down our food in 10 minutes to escape them. But other than that, 100% recommend the chicken and waffles. The Eggs Benny was good, but nothing too special. The use of the Jamaican patty as the base was definitely interesting, but it had become a bit soggy. The Trini Mac Pie was honestly really good but it was a bit unfortunate we had to pay a $6 upcharge for it as I didn't think including it in the $48 would be crazy, given the size of each dish. Overall, I definitely recommend Patois. Next time I'll come for dinner and try some of the more hyped items!
Amazing service, l loved the rum punch. Crispy Brussels sprouts were the star of the table. Food is good yet it's not special. Good thing is the serving sizes are big, you won't leave hungry. I want to go back and get their feast to try different dishes.
Four of us went to Patois after seeing the great reviews. The food was ok, everything was fresh and well made but it was missing any kind of depth of flavor or spiciness that you would expect from a Caribbean restaurant, even if it's fusion. The flavor from the jerk chicken was only on the skin and did not get into the meat. The fried chicken had a great coating but again, no flavor in the meat. My favorite dish was the popcorn fried rice, that was pretty good. Wait staff was super friendly and always had a smile on their face.
4.2/5 Busy restaurant with a laid back vibe. They offer Caribbean Asian fusion food which is very interesting. We dropped in early on a Friday evening. The patio seating is on Dundas street, which was a bit too chaotic for our liking so they seated us at the bar, which was okay. The servers were casual but nice. We started with their Island Punch which was delicious. For food, we chose the Short Ribs, Jerk Chicken (half order), Popcorn Shrimp Fried Rice and Jamaican Coleslaw. They were out of the Lobster which was unfortunate, maybe next time. The Short Ribs were heavily seasoned and deep fried. This was a tad heavy for our liking. The Popcorn Shrimp Fried Rice was excellent. We devoured this quickly. It coupled well with the Jamaican Coleslaw which was creamy and sweet. Yumm. The Jerk Chicken was moist with a kick of spice to it. Spicy but delicious. We enjoyed our meal here. I’d return to try some of their other items. A good casual dinner option if you’re in the area!
Nice little restaurant, great food and staff. Ordered 6 or 7 different things between a few people so we could try it all and each dish was good especially the burgers.
Amazing! Great fusion place. If you like Asian & Caribbean food this is a great spot.
Ordered for delivery and waited for 2 hours. Not worth the wait
Fantasiic owner and unique, flavorful dishes! Thank you!
Excellent food with exceptional service!! Amazing experience and delicious food! 5 stars
Just had one of the best dinners of my life. Thank you to the team at Patois. World class food and service. Do yourself a favour and eat here.
Patois is an absolute gem! The food is a unique and delicious blend of flavors, crafted with care and creativity. The service is exceptional attentive, friendly, and welcoming. If you re looking for amazing food and top-notch hospitality, Patois is the place to go! Highly recommend!
Ordered the jerk chicken and rice and peas. The food was bland no taste and overpriced. Payed $52 for some old baked chicken and some rice and peas that tasted like soap and water. Need to better for that price! Food
Most excellent experience. Took a team there for dinner and everyone was at awe at food and service. So much flavor and hospitality! Mike and his crew did so well. This is my new favorite in Toronto.
10/10 hands down. Amazing food and service. Highly recommend.
I had a reservation to celebrate my wifes 35th birthday. She loves Jamaican and we were excited to try Patois. Upon entering the restaurant, the hostess pointed to 2 cramped bar seats at the end of their bar, right by the entrance door. I showed her our reservation which said dining room with the note that we are celebrating a birthday. While we were talking, a table for 2 literally opened up right behind us, which we politely requested, but the hostess coldly told us she could not give us the table without any explanation. For reasons I cant explain, they did not welcome us here. It was humiliating and I felt horrible I wasnt able to make the night memorable for my wife. I would avoid this place, especially if youre celebrating something special.
always good
TLDR: Get the party punch + Chinese pineapple burger Visiting from NYC and a friend recommended this wonderful Jamaican-Asian fusion spot. It s cute little spot with a small, but delicious menu. We ordered the feast for two, but unfortunately they were out of the Trini Mac pie, but I recall the substitution dish they provided was fantastic; which leads to my next observation . Why cant I remember specifically what the substitution dish was? Oh right. WE GOT LIT FROM THE PARTY PUNCH. It comes served in a full pineapple with sparklers and straws on the side. READ THAT AGAIN. This punch went down so easy and the Prosecco fizziness made it feel like you were having a bubbly juice. They say it s meant for two, but can easily taken down one (maybe two) solo. HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend. Okay, back to the food. Beef patties were delectable, but the star of the show was definitely the pineapple bun bao. Simplistically novel but basically a double patty smash burger on a Chinese bakery pineapple flavored bun (aka Bo Lo Bau). The salty/savory patty perfectly marries the sweet pastry bread.
really disappointed by the steep decline in quality over the course of just two years. food is markedly worse, along with slow service. very, very, disappointing. will not be coming here again
Delicious food and amazing presentation! Loved the popcorn shrimp fried rice and the French toast dessert!
Fantastic
We had a friend visiting Toronto for the first time, so we had to bring him to Patois. The dinner for four meal (we added the jerk Chow Mein), really is enough food to feed a group of 5 or 6 people and the price point is excellent. The food, cocktails and very friendly and attentive service was top notch! Everyone took home enough food for lunch or dinner the next day.
As a Jamaica the food was ok. I had the eggs Benedict on top of the patty and I feel that s not a good combo as the patty is too crispy to soak up the yoke. The rice and peas was just ok. There was only one server when I was there so you have to wait a while for the food. Overall it was ok.
Watery no flavor type shit.. Lobster bites had fishy no lobster. Worst oxtail in a life never ever again
Amazing! Great fusion place. If you love Asian & Caribbean food this is a great unique spot. I had the fried chicken that folks at my table thought they stole the recipe from Popeyes. The Dr Pepper ribs were tender and delicious. Must try!
First time here, and wow it was great! Not just the food (which was seriously delicious), but Ranger and Mike made the whole experience even better. They treated me and my cousins from Chicago like VIPs, and we were loving it. The food was amazing, but the way these guys took care of us was next level. Definitely recommending this spot, and you can bet I ll be back soon. Thanks for making our day awesome, Ranger and Mike!
Very average. Definitely not worth the price. Paid $120 for breakfast for two.
LAROYCE WID THE VOICE!! He is a whole MOOOOOODDDDDD! Let me tell you. He definately made our day with his Life is worth livin spirit and is beautiful singing voice! Definitely lifted the already relaxed vibe of the establishment thag much more enjoyable. The OG Fried Chicken! Ah ma Gawd!!! The Trini Mac Pie! The rice and peas! Nice! Rice and peas is supposed to be shelly and THIS was shelly! Dont get me started on the desert! Sweet baby Jesus! Definitely goin back! Thanks for such a great time on a Sunday!
Amazing food, amazing staff. Will definitely be going back again.
Probably one of the best dining experiences Ive had NGL, if you want incredible food just go here
The staff is incredibly friendly, making you feel instantly welcomed and at home. It s the perfect spot to unwind and indulge in some truly remarkable food. Highly recommend! Food : 5/5
Great service and atmosphere with delicious food.
Jerk chicken with rice and peas was great, I can t wait to try the oxtail next time!
We attended a private party on the 2nd floor of the restaurant The food was both buffet style as well as served (finger food) Every one at the party loved the food I want to highlight the Amazing service we received from Ranger our Bartender extraordinaire super friendly amazing Mixologist He was great with everyone. 5 Stars Well Done!
Incredible food, fantastic service! The jerk chicken was on point! Do not miss our on the crispy brussel sprouts - a real Toronto gem!
Nooo wait that shrimp pasta was AMAZING!!! 10/10 guys check this place out. Jay and Austin thanks for accommodating.
Totally mid, way better Caribbean food in Toronto available in many places
Great food. The French toast is amazing and Ranger provides great service. Will be back!
I ll start off by saying, the staff are all extremely nice, and I thank them for their service. I took my mom here for a milestone birthday and the meal was so disappointing I m embarrassed. The food was underwhelming, my salad was overtly salty, the Mac and cheese was not only incredible small for a shareable, it was cold. Our chicken wings were rubbery and the scent was awful. My mom s oxtail was dry. I regret the money I spent but more importantly that my mother had to experience this meal on her birthday.
Amazing! Must. Go. Back.
Brussels salad dish was incredibly tasty!
I am literally not one of those people who writes reviews but I must for this place. I was in town for work and had to try when I saw Asian/Jamaican fusion. Did not disappoint!! The black sesame caesar salad was legit one of the best Ive ever had. The jerk chicken chow mein was soooo good and the portion was incredible. I also got a ginger lemonade which was phenomenal. Also the waiter that helped me was so nice and it just felt like everyone was vibing. I wish I lived in Toronto because I would go here every chance I had.
We got the feast for 3-4 for four of us. More than enough food for a meal. Everything was excellent.
Wowow! This is my second time at Patois and let me tell you, I walked out of that place the first time I went feeling amazing and yesterday, after my second visit I felt the same but even better. First off, their Trini Mac Pie is just addicting!! The hype is real. Secondly, we ordered the Kalbi short ribs TWICE self explanatory. Our server was amazing. I m sorry I forgot his name but he was working the bar as well, and O Shani was also so pleasant! I had the caesar to drink also, with rum which was interesting, and it was a kicker but still held true to the savoury drink that it is. Amazing experience and trust me, this is my round 2!!
Tried the jerk chicken chow mein, thought it was slightly too peppery. Very good portion size and friendly staff.
this place is really good! but the hot sauce is watered down franks and they will give you a small ramekin of it and charge two dollars. kinda silly! otherwise good!
An amazing dining experience. We all enjoyed our meals. Highly recommended. The hype was well deserved.
The coconut was nice and refreshing. Food was good. Service was good. Washroom was clean. Can be pricey though.
I love this place!!
Early last call, 11pm
Honestly very good for both the food and drinks. My only complaint is that they don t have any actual hot sauce. We paid $5 for hot sauce and it had no spice and less than an ounce which is odd from a Caribbean/asian restaurant. I really hope you get some different hot sauce because if we had something spicy like a habanero it was have been 10/10. Drinks were really delicious and the rum punch with the habanero syrup was one of my favourite cocktails I ve had. Service was great too. Would recommend but if you like spicy I would bring your own hot sauce !
Great place the staff A1
High quality Caribbean food with a few Asian inspired dishes! Hong Kong style French toast takes the traditional HK version up a level. Must tries: izakaya shrimp pasta & nori caesar salad Definitely will visit again to try other dishes! Food : 5/5
Dinner was great, drinks were cold. The place has a vibe that is relaxing, staff was friendly.
One of, if not the best meals I had in Toronto! Everything on The Whole Shebang sharing menu was absolutely incredible, and I want the dessert for my wedding cake! Very good price for the amount and quality you get, youd be a massive idiot not to check this place out! 10/10
Excellent food and great vibes! We got The Whole Shebang, plus the sriracha cauliflower, shrimp pasta and buttery potatoes, and even with 6 people, we had leftovers: be prepared to get a ton of food! Everything was delicious: best patties Ive ever had, the shrimp pasta was unreal, but everyone agreed the brussels sprout salad was the standout! And we finished with the incredible french toast! Definitely going again!
Food was alright but really salty. Server was awesome and loved the atmosphere here but they played the music too loud that it was hard to have a conversation with our table.
Amazing food - Brussels sprouts and French toast were the standout dishes, both executed flawlessly. Everything else was tasty as well. 11/10, would visit again.
A must try for some good food and vibes! Everything we had here was amazing. My stand outs were the fried chicken (omg so good), the shrimp ramen, the potatoes and the French toast. Although you really can t go wrong with any of the items on the menu. I ll be back.
Left with a food coma because I couldn t help myself! The food was amazing! The music was great, service was good as well. I need to visit again so I can have the desert! It looks amazing! We ordered: Popcorn shrimp fried rice Chinese pineapple bun burger Jamaican patty double down - no bacon
Great restaurants are their last night Amazing service and food would highly recommend Food : 5/5
Thanks Ranger!
Best dinner I ve had in a while! Great service, innovative food and drink menu! Much love, Patois!
A must when in town!
The food was good but very overpriced when compared to other similar Caribbean restaurants and food joints in the city which offer equally good taste for half the price. Service was very good. It was a pretty hot day outside but there was no AC inside which sucked. The music was too loud and made it hard to talk to people.
A must try! We got the patties, popcorn shrimp fried rice, short ribs, jerk chicken shrimp toast, Mac pie, jerk potatoes. Everything was 10/10 you can really taste the fusion between the Jamaican and Asian flavours. Highlights were the jerk chicken and ribs. We will definitely come again.
OMG - Flavor explosion!!!!
The food is always delicious here. Gotta love the jerk chicken chowmein which is a staple and only served during dinner. The staff are always so awesome. Probably the most fun out of any restaurant I know. Definitely one of my fave places in the city. Update: Came for brunch today and had the Whole Sh-Brunch Feast 3-4 ppl. We were 3 adults and 2 young teens. There was more than enough food and not surprisingly we all enjoyed everything. My favourite was the Breakfast Fried Rice, Double Trini Mac Pie, Double Patois Eggs Benny and the OG Fried Chicken so basically everything! I really wish the kids could have tried the jerk chicken chowmein or popcorn shrimp fried rice, but I guess they ll have to return for dinner one night.
food was delicious. service was slow despite the restaurant not being busy (we were one of three tables). one of the dishes we ordered took 1hr to get to us, 30min after the initial dishes were already finished. Food
Absolutely delicious. Some of the best food and cocktails in Toronto. The lobster bites are to die for, and the Sorrel Ginger Daiquiri was the perfect mix of tart and sweet.
The service left a lot to be desired as our server had an attitude and felt like he just couldn t be bothered to be there, which I get, but don t show that to your customers. We ordered three dishes, the first of which had to be sent back, and the food all came 15-20 minutes apart, which was not explained to us. I would have preferred to get all the food at the same time. The food tasted amazing and the portion sizes of the chow mein and shrimp pasta were huge, albeit expensive.
Super interesting menu, and amazing food and drinks. Also came on a day with some kind of win $10,000 OLG event and a marching band walked in and gave everyone got $100 visa cards.
What an amazing place. Each dish is so unique and well executed. Nothing else like it in the city. Can t wait to go again
I did enjoy being at this a restaurant but the portion is kinda small for the price. The food was good it was a little cold but I think that was because of the cold wind of the patio and the service was good as well. My favourite dish was definitely shrimp toast and I think the jerk chicken chow mein is overrated.
Patois Fusion Restaurant in Toronto is an absolute delight! The moment you step in, you re welcomed by a lively and vibrant atmosphere, complemented by great music that sets the perfect mood. The fusion of Caribbean and Asian flavors in their dishes is both creative and delicious, offering a unique culinary experience. Every dish we tried was flavorful and perfectly prepared. The staff is friendly and attentive, making sure you have a wonderful dining experience. If you re looking for a place with amazing food and a fun ambiance, Patois is the spot to be. Highly recommended!
Coming back to write a review after months haha because I genuinely regularly think about that jerk chicken chow mein!! Those fusion flavours were amazing
Delish Brussels sprouts and vermicelli salad, and gluten free fried chicken! My partner tried the jerk chicken chow mein and loved it as well. Dietary restrictions: Gf options upon asking
Came in for a weekend brunch to try it out and did not disappoint. Had an ultimate brunch combo of short ribs, jerk chicken, eggs benny on a patty, and breakfast fried rice. The short ribs and chicken were great. The eggs benny on a patty was an interesting twist that worked out very well. The fried rice wasn t too special but was a very good carb to fill you up at the end. Their fresh jelly coconut drink was also very good.
The food does not taste good at all and some of the are very rude I would not go back not even for a bottle of water.
Food was delicious but expensive for the small portion sizes. Server was nice but everything took a really long time. I appreciate the concept but I am not sure I would go back.
Interesting take on Jamaican Asian fusion cuisine. I particularly loved the Brussel sprout noodle salad with its big flavors and varied textures from the charred sprouts, silky vermicelli, spinach, seeds and the miso rich dressing. The Beef short ribs were tasty too with good balance of ginger and soya flavor. But the portions were small and there weren t much meat / substance for the price, IMHO. The Jerk Chicken was IMO more reasonably portioned with equally big flavors.
Jerk chicken crispy chow mein and the Hong Kong toast are 2 of the best dishes in the city
Celebrated my wife s birthday with a meal at Patois. We ordered the prefixed tasting menu and boy did it deliver! Great variety in the dishes cooled and you could really see the efforts made to fuze Asian and Caribbean cooking. We especially enjoyed the bo lo bao burger and fried chicken. Washed everything down with a cold bottle of Red Stripe. I almost felt like it was my birthday with how much I enjoyed. Will definitely return to try other items on the menu!
The doubles were incredible and an excellent vegetarian option! My friend enjoyed the ox-tail. Attentive service. Great concept and fusion of cultures.
Very disappointed with this place. I was very clear when I mentioned to the server that I wasn t too hungry yet they did not guide me correctly. They should ve told me that the ultimate brunch and the fried rice as a side was way more than needed for one person. It was a lot of food that was going to be wasted because I was traveling. Pretty disappointed.
Second time here and still fantastic.... Food is delicious, staff are super friendly. Cant go wrong giving it a try.
Great food and the vibe was on point
We went in for a Sunday brunch, the food was simply amazing - the flavours were superb. The way they have designed the combos it s meant to be shared, so I only wish we had gone in a bigger group to try more dishes.
Best fried chicken I hace ever had. Crispy, juicy inside, bursting with flavor!
Patois is such a great spot in the west end. Whether youre coming with two people for a relaxed, quiet dinner; or planning to roll in with a larger group for a birthday or bachelor/bachelorette party, theyve got what you need. A real gem in Torontos restaurant scene.
Authentic and tasty! Excellent cocktails
Very bad customer service. Stated making order when i was already there for pickup.
The jerk chicken was sublime and paired really well with the coleslaw! Great atmosphere and friendly staff
Was disappointed in the food. We ordered the feast for two. It came with a lot of variety, but the food tastes like it had been made hours ago and was just heated up. I don t expect them to make patties and Cole slaw fresh, but the jerk chicken and fried chicken were both cold and tasted like they had been sitting around for a while.
Perfect spot! Food, drinks and service were all 10/10!!
This place is truly a gem in the city located in such a good neighbourhood along Dundas West. I attended a celebration event and the servers were so friendly and attentive, the ambiance, music, and atmosphere was perfect, and the FOOD! The food was the best. This was one example of a seafood pasta dish that was prepared for me and it had the perfect balance of creaminess, spice, and flavour. I was meaning to take it out, but I ended up eating the entire thing on the spot. This spot is an absolute must for anyone looking for a great meal in the city and I already cant wait to go back. Thank you Patois!
Everything we Tried at Patois Patois, where Caribbean meets Asian soul food - a nod to its namesake Patois meaning a merging of great food ideas from various cultures, ensuring respect for the ingredients. Indulge in their family-style dining experience - its always fun to share and pass around platters of tasty food and with an ambiance full of pineapples, floaties, graffiti, and chrome; think Island Patio experience. @melissa_foodie.fun $$
Came for the weekend brunch and was blown away the Hong Kong French toast and the breakfast fried rice are to die for!!! I wish I lived in Toronto so I could come here every single weekend
Honestly, the best meal out Ive had in a really long time. I wasnt sure what to expect of Jamaican-Asian fusion, but Patois delivered with food so good it was hard to believe. We shared the oxtail stew with rice and the pineapple bun burger, with the cookie butter french toast for dessert. It was a taste buds delight and the service was fantastic. Such a nice place!
Food, drink, service is good, will come back
Went with my wife and a friend. I shared the ribs and yakisoba with my friend. My wife had the oxtail. My wife complained about only getting four pieces of oxtail. The ribs were good. The yakisoba was unreal. Just an amazing dish. After my friend and I each got a patty which were very fresh. Overall only complaint is portion sizes and music too loud.
Food is good and so is the service! We got the 99$ course meal for 2 and the portions were huge. Losing points on atmosphere as the restaurant smelled like the sewers when we came in today.
I love going to Patois because I know the food is going to be good! My fave is the Izakaya Shrimp Pasta, the umami in this dish is unreal. The Jamaican Oxtail was delicious and the Trini Mac Pie was lovely. The servers are very friendly and check on you at just the right amount.
Mmm delicious
The food here is fresh and excellent. They were out of a few menu items, but that just shows you that they make everything fresh. We ll be back.
Ive had Patois in my bucket list for 4 years and finally had the chance to try it today. The service was amazing and the atmosphere really unique and lively. The food was sooo worth the wait, technique was basically perfect. Never would I thought a plate of Yakisoba would almost bring me to tears.
I had high hopes dining here. The reviews appeared really great. I liked the idea of two cuisine fusions however I don t think either was represented authentically. Jerk chicken tasted nice however did not taste like it was cooked in drum. I did not like the sauce on noodles. It was too much and gave a soup vibe. Oxtail dinner missed the mark as well. The best thing was the doubles. Good service and atmosphere. Perhaps a bit overrated.
Too noise and a lot of fumes inside the lunch and restaurant areas.
Came here for Brunch on a Sunday and ordered the Feast for 2. Everything was fresh and tasted amazing! That O.G Fried Chicken was so good! Service was great as well and the bartender Jose made our day! Definitely coming back here again!
Maggi ribs are amazing. Everything else is just ok.
The whole shabang set menus make it super easy to decide what to get - you get the best sellers in sharing portions with your group from the pineapple bun burger to their perfect Jamaican patties to their jerk and fried chicken and more. Also the bread pudding was stellar - great rum flavour. Really delicious!
Just came back for a second visit last night. Came with a friend for dinner. The fried chicken is amazing and you should order it. The oxtail dinner plate was good dumplings were a little different then Im use to but still enjoyable. I have to try other items on the menu over some more visits.
Visited with our baby and felt warmly welcomed. The staff was incredibly accomodating. Our server was exceptionally nice and patient, ensuring we didnt feel rushed. This marked our third visit, and Patois remains our go-to spot when showcasing our local dining scene to visitors. The only slight downside is the portions, which are a bit small. Nonetheless, the overall excellence keeps us coming back for more!
Great place. Pricey but tasty. It gets a little dark inside but still has a nice atmosphere.
Amazing food and service.
Had a great time at Patois! The food was delicious. The drinks were great The staff were super helpful and friendly. I wish I had a place like this in my city. Keep up the great work #patois
Came with my partner around 8pm on a Thursday. Was amazing and tasty. We got the feast for 2, very worth it. We even had some for take away. It s a good way of tasting all the classics. It also got us excited to come back and try things we haven t had(lobster). Ranger served us and he was very attentive and caring. Great experience.
Had a wonderful experience here. The food is amazing here. We order the platter for 3-4 people and to be honest it was more than enough for us (party of 5. Three adults and 2 kids). The platter was delicious it had a bit of everything from chicken to burger to salad. It was a perfect combo of variety of food. The server is so wonderful very accommodating for our needs. The vibe here is very relaxing. We went on a Wednesday and it got pack. I will for sure come again. Kid-friendliness: Kids love this especially that Mac n Cheese!
Absolutely delicious!!
Ordered the noodles with chicken cutlet, beef patty and cookie butter french toast...wowww everything was delicious. Despite ordering through doordash, the chicken was still crispy and the french toast is a must have!!! Highly recommend Patois!
I have celiac disease and Patios has super friendly and helpful staff that were able to help me figure out my options. The restaurant has a great vibe and has become a go to for my partner and I. They dont have many gluten free options for entrees but they made me a plate off menu of curry rice, shrimp, veggies, and coleslaw. Their fried chicken is also GF but cooked in the same fryer, I didnt have any reaction to it.
Food was delicious, so many different flavours in the Chinese pineapple bun burger and the staff were warm and friendly. Will definitely be coming back for more and recommending to friends. - Matthew and Linda
Outstanding meal from fabulous people. No sure what to order? The Feast for 2 is a great starting point for a couple. Portions are perfect size and there are a lot of portions in the mix.
Service is great! The place is welcoming and the food is utterly amazing! Would come again 100%
10/10. Everything we ordered was so good!!! The feast for 2 fed three of us. Fried chicken stood out the most. Also really enjoyed the rum punch teapot. Great vibes and service, shoutout to Kaelin for taking care of us!!!
Two ladies had a craving for Jamaican food and were so amused we found Patios . As if I had the most luxurious ramen noodle topped with perfectly fried shrimps in the Izakaya pasta!? OG Fried Chicken reminded me of my own grandmas & moms. The slaw, slayed! We found that all the dishes had authentic, Jamaican flavours mostly from its freshness. Portions and service were served heavy-handed. We will be back to try the rest of the nostalgia & delicious menu.
This place is incredible. The food is amazing and the staff is lovely.
Food was super yummy (we had the feast for 2) and the service was prompt and friendly. The music was a bit loud but playlist was really good. Will definitely go again
Patois is a delicious restaurant for those in the mood for Jamaican-Asian fusion. My friends and I split and ordered the hehe and it was the perfect amount for us as an early dinner. There werent a lot of Asian inspired dishes in the platter we tried (mostly just the pineapple bun in the burger) but the food was still quite tasty. My favorite was the Trini Mac Pie which had a great amount of cheese without being too heavy and a garlicy flavour that reminded me of scalloped potatoes. I also really enjoyed the jerk chicken which was super smokey all the way through to the chicken bone, as well as the fried chicken. The fried chicken was also tasty and had a light crispy batter on top. The atmosphere was cute and had a great vibe with a bar at front and a small more private booth on top, but was a bit dark to my liking.
Such a great experience! Amazing food, atmosphere and people :) thank you Jamil and Christina!!!!
I love it. Honestly It was a good experience. The jerk chicken chow mein is unbelievable I really believe its the restaurant best dish Im sure a lot of people order it and it slaps. I actually got to meet chef Craig once at a function I told him he was my favorite chef and I was hella star struck. Shout out to the chef and the team at Patois for doing a wonderful job. PS bring back the Wha gwan toute I remember you guys had a beanie lol bring em back
Harmonious fusion of Chinese and Jamaican tastes! Reasonable price for a good portion.
Such yummy food and a warm vibe in Patois. I especially loved the short ribs - definitely a highlight of my meal there . The family style service was also such a great touch. Reminded me of family meals that my grandmother used to host. Dietary restrictions: Server was sure to ask everyone at the table about dietary restrictions
The food was good , service was good ! a definite must try!
Good food but not great. We had the jerk chicken, beef ribs and island salad. There are cheaper and tastier places I can go to eat meat that is 90% fat / bone. I also found a hair in my salad that I m pretty sure wasn t mine. Service and cocktails were on point.
Amazing brunch! The fried rice and fried chicken are the reason I keep going back!
Wow!!! The food here is incredible! And theres A LOT of food! Its family style so its good for sharing with a group. Got the feast that can feed 3-4 people. Definitely worth it. The fried chicken was so juicy. And the spices they used had so much flavour. The pineapple bun burger was also so good!! Mac and cheese was very cheesy and creamy. It also came with salad, coleslaw, rice and beans, shrimp and taro chips and beef patties. Im so glad I was able to try Patois. Love fusion food!!! Delicious!!!
Excellent food with some great presentation. Excellent blend of Chinese and Caribbean fusion. Service was solid.
Great atmosphere and decor, but the food was underwhelming - the taste & portion size dont feel quite right for a jamaican joint (or the price!): - Short ribs: caked in flavouring that hid how much of the ribs were just fat (our guess is ~20%). A lot of bites were simply all blubber. - Shrimp: the shrimp may have been put into the sauce too early and the coating was soggy by the time the dish came out (we went for the shrimp first - it came out like this). Love the detail they put in to cut out the shell and tail. - Chicken: great texture, very moist and juicy, but flavour felt lacking (maybe the short ribs was too much of a contrast). - Coleslaw: perfectly sauced - not too much and not too little. Delicious.
Love this spot for delicious Caribbean food! The family-style servings allow you to try several dishes and it is safe to say the jerk potatoes and fried chicken are a MUST. The cocktails were only ok, but I would definitely go back.
Our server was very helpful with the menu, very professional, knew when we needed her and promptly appeared, despite a busy Friday dinner service. She recommended the O.G. fried chicken which was an excellent choice as was the crispy Brussel sprouts salad. The jerk pork belly yakisoba had a little hint of heat and lots of ingredients in the stir fried noodles.
Definitely the best evening out great food, incredible service
This place is chefs kiss! This Jamaican Chinese fusion restaurant lived up to the standards and hype. It s got such a unique range of flavours from both worlds and it s a really unique fusion!
Food is absolutely delicious!! Everything we had was flavorful and well-portioned. The only downside was that the noise level made it difficult to hold conversation.
Food was excellent, well seasoned, Mac pie portion should be bigger but was delicious. Server was great, Id come back!
Patois is fantastic. Chill place with great food. Been around many years and for good reason. Juicy Jerk Chicken is fantastic. Make sure to get the beef patties as well.
My bf is obsessed with the burger here, and I am obsessed with their dessert toast!
Great Caribbean-Chinese fusion food. Ill come here every time when Im in Toronto.
Its a nice place in general. The food is good I was able to try from other dishes that my friends had ordered. I ordered the oxtail with rice and peas with coleslaw. Cost about 28 bucks. Literally only got 6 very small pieces of oxtail. The broth/stew wasnt thick and flavourful. Looking at the plate you as you eat, you cant help but to realize that you are paying 28 bucks for rice and salad. The other dishes in that price range seem to be worth it though. Stay away from the urge to order oxtail there.
An interesting fusion tasting experience that is worth trying. I really enjoyed the fried chicken and the noodles the most.
We went here for dinner on a Sunday. 2 people seated after us got their orders first and 1 table seated 30 minutes after us got their food at the same time. The delay was never acknowledged by our server. Food was okay. I m not sure if I get the hype. I really wanted to like the place too. Music was good.
Super tasty and varied food. The Jamaican patties and pineapple bun burger in particular were amazing.
It s a gem in Toronto. I will totally bring my friends here for another brunch or lunch. Till next time!
One of my favorite spots in the city!! A go-to anytime someone comes to visit.
Sooooooooooo good. Plates are big. You might be able to share with another person.
Great food , great ambiance and service. Is it traditional west Indian food? No, however they did give your typical traditional dishes a good twist.
Good food and service. Got the OG fried chicken and that was very good. Atmosphere is excellent! Consider having reservations since walk-in can have a waitlist.
Mouthwatering dishes and excellent service! Pork Belly Yakisoba is my current favorite food! They play great Jamaican music too
Been hearing lot of hype about Patois: food was delicious, service was friendly, ambiance was great! Wasnt quite Asian, definitely bigger skew towards Caribbean, still pretty tasty! Jerk chicken had a nice spice! Honey & maggi fried beef short ribs were really good, would easily recommend. Oxtail was very tender and well flavored! Between the 4 of us, good portion size to share 4 dishes Would come back!
I was thoroughly impressed by the food and service at Patois. We ordered the sharing menu that serves 3-4 and it was amazing - I absolutely loved the island salad, the Jamaican Pattie s, the fried chicken and ESPECIALLY the juicy jerk. They also have this super tasty and juicy sour beer called DinoSour which is a must if you re into flavoured beers.
Patois does not miss
Went last night and the food was excellent.
Beyond delicious! I got the Chinese Pineapple Bun Burger, and I d say quite readily that it s my favorite burger ever. Do NOT skip out! Also got the Jamaican Pepper Shrimp Toast and the Island Salad. All of them were great and my only regret is not ordering everything on the menu! Patois is a must-try.
Their sh-brunch platter is unmissable! Starting from the quantity to the taste of food and the caribbean twist and turns together make up an incredible gastronomic experience.
The Izakaya Shrimp Pasta is rich and creamy, a wonderful flavour that pairs really well with the shrimp in it. The Rum Punch Teapot is fruity with a noticeable hint of alcohol in it that completes the drink, highly recommended. I received my dish much later than the other people I was with which detracted from the experience a bit. With all that in mind I would recommend that everyone would grab a bite to eat here.
Looove the food and the vibe. I wish they had a location in the east end :)
Had the prefix dinner with a group of 8. The food kept coming and it was great! The beef patty sandwich was an amazing appetizer! Jerk chicken was nicely seasoned. The rum punch was great.
One of the best restaurants in the city. The food is imaginative and delicious.
