Laid-back watering hole serving Haitian grub & rum cocktails in a narrow, muraled setting.
My friends and I went for drinks here, and we loved it! The atmosphere is super cute, but what really stands out is the service. Kenya and Tyler went above and beyond with their hospitality, making us feel so welcome and taken care of. We’ll definitely be back for the great vibes and even better service! The 10 years I’ve been in Toronto I’ve never received a service like this - great people, thank you both!
I came to this place with a friend back in 2019. We just walked in, no clue about the place. Sat at the bar & ordered a drink and some food. The best food by far I had in 2019 at a place other than home. Chefs are in the corner doing their thing, I had to look over and give two thumbs up. Thank God I took a picture of my plate with the menu in the background, my friend and I can finally go again. The perfect food to pair with drinks. Flavourful , really made with passion you could taste.
First, on a positive note, I do love the ambiance of the restaurant. I appreciated the decor and representation of Haitian culture. However, as someone who has Haitian blood, this was a huge disappointment to me. I was hoping to have traditional Haitian fried chicken which is cooked completely different than what I was handed to me, it was giving KFC crispy chicken with a bland taste. Not to mention, the macaroni was like standard Mac and cheese. Haitian macaroni traditionally has peppers and does have a delicious coat of cheese that has been broiled. I was overall appalled by what was handed to me. The only Haitian part of this dish was the spice factor in the macaroni. Just goes to show that just because the chefs are Haitian, doesn’t always make a restaurant an authentic Haitian restaurant. Please, don’t let this be your last impression of Haitian food. Our food has so much to offer!❤️🇭🇹
Rice and beans that were part of the cashew chicken were my favorite. But the meat feels too dry. Too cold to be seated outside and I don't think I'll come back.
10/10. I’ve been wanting to try Rhum Corner for a while now (everything Jen Agg creates is gold so my expectations were already high). We went here for dinner after a few beverages at Cocktail Bar across the street (a sister spot to Rhum/Vendetta). We started with the Salt Cod Patties and knew we were in for a great dinner. We followed with the salad, the griot (holy this is fantastic), the oxtail and a few red stripes. By then we were so full (we had a few other food stops earlier) so we got the fried chicken with rice and beans + 2 more salt cod patties to go. The fried chicken was some of the best I’ve had and I could eat a mountain of the rice and beans. What a fantastic menu, great portions and so much flavour. Can’t forget the pikliz!! We piled that on every bite and even bought a jar to take home. So much flavour and spice. Do yourself a favour and try this place out. Incredible food, reasonable prices, big portions! What’s not to love?
Overall decent place. Really loud party vibes inside and a chill patio perfect for people watching. The griot was delicious, which came with tostones (my fav). Very well seasoned juicy morsels of pork. Recommend. The oxtail was just ok. The drinks were also hit or miss. The passion fruit margarita was tasty but the rum punch.. meh. For the best rum punch, oxtail, and party, I’ll be going back to Chubby’s.
I’ve never tried Hatian food before and so was very excited to try this place, and the food does not disappoint! Got the salad, griot and boulet and everything was very delicious. The salad was very refreshing and the griot while labeled under appetizer actually comes with some fried plantains and is more of a main in terms of portion size. All the dishes were unique and the cocktail was very tasty as well. Will return in the future to try some of the other dishes on the menu. Other highlights include the wait staff who were very attentive to refill water even during dinner rush hour. Also I was going to order rice and peas but one waiter explained that the boulet already comes with some rice and suggested that I skip. A lot of times, wait staff will just simply take orders rather than provide helpful input so it’s another plus. If you’re in the area, make sure to try them!
Was in town for the Caribbean Festival and decided to give Rhum Corner a try. We were able to be seated right away on a Thursday evening. The food was good, the service was decent, and the drinks were the best! I will return on my next trip to Toronto.
Delicious food. Oxtail is amazing
Great food and amazing drinks will definitely come back when I return to Toronto
Ive been going here since it opened and it has NEVER disappointed. The food is always exceptional, fresh and so so so delicious. I pretty much only get the griot bowl with banana frites...I could eat that everyday and not get sick of it. The drinks and music are always top tier as well. I really hope they bring the Hemingway slushie back!
Beautiful space with excellent food and warm service. Delicious rum cocktails too. Highly recommend the fried chicken and macaroni. I will definitely be back to try more items!
cocktails for two revolutionary
Been here twice now and it has not disappointed. The griot and fried chicken are both amazing, great cocktails. I dream of the hot sauce and pickled cabbage and carrots.
Rhum Corner is pure magic - from the moment you step inside. The food is delicious, bursting with bold, authentic flavors that keep you coming back for more. But the real magic happens in winter, after one of those long dark nights after work. Picture this: the powdery snow falling outside, while you re cozied up at the bar sipping one of the best piña coladas you ll ever have. It feels like you ve stepped into another world, far from the cold streets of Toronto. The atmosphere is unreal, the drinks are perfection, and the experience is unforgettable. A true toronto gem.
Cool decor and the oxtail the was the best Ive ever had.
Walking in the restaurant gave me so much nostalgia from the music choices to the food quality. My girlfriend took us here for our anniversary and everything I ve had tasted like my mom s cooking. I loved the experience and I will certainly be back in the future.
Visited in Sept 2024. Amazing service, and experience. The food was incredible and packed with flavour! I had the opportunity to try - Rhum punch (A MUST) - Salt cod patty (my personal favourite!) - Macaroni au gratin -Albacore tuna ceviche - Haitian fried chicken Its very cozy and a welcoming atmosphere! Consider me a returning patron!
My favourite restaurant in the city, always good vibes, good food and drinks. Shared plates makes for easy opportunities to try lots - recommend the accra fritters, Mac and cheese, and oxtail! We love to sit at the bar, but theres no bad seat in the house.
The food was sooo good! A little pricy but we left full and satisfied. The saltfish cod patties, whole fried fish, and oxtail were delicious. What a cute spot too!
The food is always perfect every time I been there. One of my favourite place to invite downtown.
This is one of my favourite places to go to. The oxtail is absolutely delicious, it falls right off the bone and I tried their spicy passionfruit margarita, it was also amazing. The music and overall vibe is great too!
The food was top notch. The service impeccable. The patio sublime. A friend from out of town came in and suggested we check this place out... ...and am I glad she picked Rhum Corner. We shared a few platters of the griot. 3 of them, to be exact. One after the other because it was so good. Coupled with the hot sauce, the beans and rice, and a dark and stormy, the tantalizing medley of flavours made my palate dance. Staff were helpful, pleasant, and they were able to accomodate our group that grew at the last minute. Overall a fantastic experience and I look forward to going back for more griot.
Wonderful ,just bit of a cramp place
Hard to beat this place if you like rum
10/10 food, cocktails, service, all at reasonable prices. Everything is obviously very thoughtfully and expertly curated, lovingly crafted, and COOL. Cant wait to come back and try the rest of the menu!
Delicious food, but a bit on the pricey side. Would like to see them lower their food prices.
Love the menu ! Great rum bar
Incredible food at affordable prices. I couldn t believe the price of the cocktails. Love this place, consistently great.
amazing food and rhum based cocktails. the hostess who had a British accent (dont know her name) is really great! lot of special attention given to each party making sure youre well served and taken care of. 5/5. will definitely return!
The staff was nice but the music was so deafening that it hurt. My friends and I decided to leave after our first drink because it wasnt possible to hear each other. For context, I regularly go to EDM concerts and have dined in trendy NYC restaurants with loud music. The music at this place was straight up shrill it was so loud. The food looked good though!
The tuna ceviche and the oxtail are both incredible
Amazing service, even better food
Exquisite and yummy food. Loved the ambiance. The music was really loud though. I feel like the volume could be adjusted to a more comfortable experience.
Great ambiance. Great staff! Amazing food & drinks! The Gyro is a must have
10/10. The food first and foremost, delicious. Just delicious. Also portion was very sizeable (esp for Toronto standards). Ordered the salt cod patty and griot, both were so delicious. The griot will be a repeat. Can t wait to go back and try the rest of the menu. Service - nothing wrong about it. Friendly and not in a fake service way. Atmosphere is perfect in my option. Chill, cozy, not pretentious but not sloppy in any way. Oh also the cocktail was delicious. Only thing I suppose I would ask for is more beer on the menu, but hey it s part of the experience I get it. Will be back!!!
Service was really good and ambience is nice. However, The rum and coke was just coke and ice mostly.
Music a bit loud, everything else was great
Food was delicious, service was good. Only wish there was a bit more light. I understand wanting to create a particular ambience with the lighting and decoration, but the lights were too dim. Had to take out my phone and turn the flashlight on after the food arrived to be able to look at it.
One of the few places in the city where youre guaranteed to hear good music. Sometimes its a little loud but still great tunes. Plus some of the best cocktails and snacks you can get for a reasonable price for how hip it is.
Excellent Haitian restaurant with a great cultural ambience in the layout.
Amazing food! Tasty, flavourful! Buzzing cocktails! Friendly service! Great cozy atmosphere! I will definitely be going back over and over again. The music does get a little loud the later in the evening it gets. But everything else is impeccable! Servers are friendly and knowledgeable! See you very soon Rhum Corner!
Website says dinner until 1am on Friday, but we arrived there at 11:30 and everything has been shut down. There s not even a phone to contact ahead of time so people don t waste their time coming all the way out here
Food was good. Atmosphere is cozy. Could be a wee bit brighter lighting but still cool.
Went here for my birthday and had a great time. The food is amazing and the service is fab. Would eat here again. Kid-friendliness: What kid does not love Carribean food?
Atmosphere was the best, as was the service, and the food... delish!
Amazing. Great vibes, great food.
Wish we could comment on the food. We showed up at 8:15, and were told that it would be 45 minutes for a table of 4. Totally understand that Rhum Corner does not take reservations, so it can take longer than expected to get seated. We showed back up at 9:30 to ask about our table, and were told it was taking longer than expected, and it would be another 20-30 minutes. Keep in mind we were planning on eating dinner, so at this point had not eaten. We came back back 30 minutes later, we were told it would be another 20 minutes to be seated, and that the kitchen would close at 11. Completely ruined our dinner plans, since we were trusting the information we had been given by the host. So it took two and a half hours and we didn t end up getting a call from the restaurant about actually sitting down to eat. I ve never had this happen before, and it totally impacted our dinner plans as a group. Even for Toronto it felt a bit ridiculous.
I hardly remember to leave reviews but I had such an amazing experience at rhum corner I had to share. Celebrated my birthday here with 7 of my friends and we ve been talking about how amazing the food was non-stop since our visit. This was my first time trying Haitian food and it was absolutely amazing. Every dish was consistently great. we tried 80% of the menu and not one dish missed. The Service was amazing as well. The sever was quick and attentive, and the rest of the staff really took care of our table. They even brought out celebratory shots for my friends and I. Overall, I would 100% reccomend and come back. Happy I chose rhum corner for my 28th!
Wowow what an experience! The food is out of this world, the drinks are amazing. Thank you Tyler for the amazing service, making sure I was aware of the vegan options available, and bringing me extra pikliz. Everything was perfect, so much flavour and deliciously spicy. Highly recommend.
Tasted just like grandma made it. Authentic and super flavourful
It just doesn t get any better when it comes to do with anything to do with anything to do with restaurants and good food and good service and good drinks - very vibe, great drinks, good range of options on the menu and I always have 2 servings of the desert
Best pina coladas!! Perfect vibe.
Excellent food and drinks!
An excellent restaurant, the drinks are sublime, the food typical and excellent, the atmosphere is perfect. I highly recommend for a good time with friends. If you like Caribbean food this is the place in Toronto.
Salt fish cod patty was to die for. Spicy coleslaw for the table was delicious and definitely try the hot sauce!!!! Also fried chicken is so crispy and tender. Drinks are 10/10 environment 10/10
Drinks sooooo good
The atmosphere and drinks were great but I was most shook by the food that was REALLY GOOD - try the banana fritters when youre there- the bartender (sorry dont know her name) was super nice too so it made for a fun night out :)
The Griot is amazing!! And the drinks are delicious. One of my favourite spots in Toronto.
This continues to reliably be one of my favourite Toronto restaurants. I ve had lots of Hatian/Creole food and they consistently do it soooo well. The DJ was absolute and the service is always so nice. The menu isn t huge and I can guarantee that anything you get will be
Rhum corner is becoming a staple of the area. The cocktails are great, the food is tasty and somewhat affordable (my standards for affordability might be going down too though )!
Steven was an awesome server and everyone was nice, the food and drinks were amazing too
One of my favourite restaurants in the city. Food is delicious, drinks are really good, and vibes are immaculate.
Burnt fried chicken and overpriced drinks and food, you can go to kost for better experience and it will cost you less. Spent 70+ for two food items and one drink lol. Dont go for food, even the staff dont wanna be there
I do not know why you called haitian restaurant food presentation was terrible one of the worker don t even speak creole for me 0/0 Vegetarian options: No good
Great service and amazing food. I love this place. Only Haitian restaurant in the city.
The best oxtail I ever had - it was so tender it practically fell off the bone. The griot was tender, juicy and seasoned perfectly. Macaroni au gratin was very unique. It had a nice spiciness to it.
Words can t describe how good the food was this is truly a 5 star restaurant and it s 100% deserved .The staff is super nice and so is vibe and music in the restaurant .Would definitely do a trip from montreal to Toronto to eat here again !
Only restaurant in the gta that serves real hatian rice not to mushy like other Caribbean countries , authentic hatian food
Proud Haitian here. My partner and I absolutely love this place. The environment is warm, and the staff is friendly. I love hearing Haitian music, and catch myself dancing while eating. Oftentimes, the Haitian co-owner is spotted in the corner mixing the beats. You can tell he is passionate about the restaurant, and enjoys seeing others appreciate it too. Many of the arts in the bar/restaurant are by the co-owner. There is even merch available to purchase on display. As for the FOOD, it all tastes like my mom and grandmothers cooking. The kitchen staff are Haitian. The flavour, presentation, and quality are consistent with every visit. I love the specialty drinks and the availability of Caribbean rums, specifically Haitian Barbancourt. During the holiday season, they serve traditional drinks and meals, like Kremas and Soup Joumou. Honesly, if you havent gone, you should. Whenever Im missing my familys cooking or am looking to vibe downtown, Rhum Corner is the spot. I recommend: Griot (fried pork) or the fried chicken, the macaroni au gratin, the rice and beans and/or the plaintain/Bannan (haitians do plaintain the best). Everything is good on the menu...I have tried everything.
Rhum is the place to go when you want to have a good time and know what youre going to get. Its reliable, knowable and the staff keep it feeling like a friends house. Its a fav
I had the fried chicken, and the macaroni au gratin. It was so good! The spices in the chicken batter were interesting and a little different, a little heat but not overpowering. The mac and cheese was so good. My dark and stormy was also delish! The staff are super friendly. Id def come back here!
Gets better and better every year with only modest increase in price. Takeout from here got us through 2020. Love the tangy pikliz. Love the plump & toothsome oxtail. Looking forward to getting some merch. Even the bathroom has greatly improved!
Great food and ambience. We waited a long time for our food, but they reduced the bill as an apology, which was greatly appreciated.
Had the salted fish patty and it was so good. Overwhelming with flavor and served with a really great hot sauce. Huge fan.
All dishes are yummy
Restaurant closes 11? No phone number listed.
I recommend the griot!
A lovely place. Jack Food : 5/5
Really cool spot in the city! Great cocktails. Want to go back for a meal.
Nice feel in there and great food. Had the nicest bartender/server on NYE (going into 2023) she took such good care of my mom and I, but RC is PRETTY pricey especially considering the portions that are served. The food is great and tasty though! Went in there recently to buy some Kremas(2 bottles for $180 ) and there are more non BPOC workers now but no such expectations from a non-BOB.
11/10 Haitian food Personally thanked the chefs because it was only right. Will definitely be back!
Excellent!!!
Very friendly staff. Island vibe, great food and satisfying beverages from Haiti and neighboring countries. Great atmosphere!
Came here for cocktails with partner. I got the piña colada sulshie and he got painkiller No 3. They were both so good! Well be back
Simply excellent.
Pina coladas...thats all I need to say.
A great Caribbean vibe! We enjoyed it
Awesome cocktails and food! Great service to boot!!
Bomb food and drinks.
Enjoyed this place. Nice vibe. The chicken and Mac&cheese was great. Great cocktails too.
Great food great cocktails chill vibes
Great food and ambiance
The cocktails are really good! The food is nice too, a bit spicy so careful with that. Service was good and toilets were clean.
First time at Rum Corner, great experience , great food, great ambiance, TY our server was the best
My fiancé and I love this place. Good cocktails and service. The ceviche is Can t wait for lockdown to end so I can go back again!
This was my first date spot for years before I met my husband. I am amazed at what theyre able to do is such a narrow space. It feels comfortable without being cramped. The food is simple, interesting and structured in a tapas style menu. Its a good spot for some after work drinks and bar snacks or a group outing. The drink selection here is astounding. They have rum from pretty much every corner of the earth. Not to mention the cocktails are fantastic. This is a great choice for quick dinner on a hot summer evening or a night cap on a cold winter night. Cant recommend this place enough.
Amazing cocktail selection, cant wait for indoor dining to open up.
Delicious food, great vibe!
I couldn t love this place any more than I do! I miss the vibe of dining in, but the music recos on their takeout have me dancing home. The food is phenomenal - I m a sucker for good griot and the sos pwa (bean sauce) is too good for words. It s silly how happy their food makes me
Orders takeout, it was amazing! The frost chicken was incredible. They included a list of suggested songs to listen to while eating, which helped us to created an atmosphere at home!
Great summer patio just steps from Bellwoods. Oxtail plate was so delicious, and the best summer drink menu! Really friendly servers too
Perfect date night spot. Im in love with this place. Cozy, intimate, and fun!!!
Been here a few times and it s always a great choice. Fantastic cocktails for a reasonable price (try the pina colada slushie, I have dreams about it), and great food too. Service can be a bit slow sometimes but is still always friendly and helpful.
Kind people, great vibes, great food!
I have to resist the urge to order out from here every weekend. Go for the Accra and Griot, stay for literally everything else on the food and cocktail menu. It s that good.
Simply one of the best places to go for a cocktail in Toronto. We sat outside on the patio and everything was wonderful - perfectly crafted cocktails, friendly servers and great ambiance. Will be back to try the food ASAP!
A nice place to check out. The menu is okay, but nothing to get excited about, beans and chicken kind of thing. The server was swamped and trying to manage 7 tables by herself and the kitchen was noticeably slow. The cocktails seem to be their signature here.
Good cocktails and the salty cod patty was my favourite thing on the menu! Any of the meat was well seasoned and cooked. Was hoping more flavour on some of the other items like the banana fritters.
One of my absolute favourites, as with all of Jen Agg s restaurants.
Very good food. Real Haitian cuisine.
Amazing food, really good drinks and cocktails and great service! I m so happy they ve made it through the pandemic because we would have lost a gem in the city of they closed down.
Great drinks, try the griot bowl.
Great (and strong!) tiki cocktail, very good food, and excellent service.
Amazing service with equally amazing drinks and food
Fantastic food, fun atmosphere and great service. Try the rhum negroni for something different, and the salt fish patty is to die for :)
Best Pina ever trust
Great food and.drinks you wont regret the chicken
Love this establishment. Amazing selection of rum from around the world with decadent eats.
Warm atmosphere, a delicious taste journey into childhood and travel memories.
Ordered a cocktail while we waited for a table at another restaurant. When our drinks came, I got a call that our table was ready! (They told us 45 min but it was way earlier than that). We had to quickly chug our drinks and pay the bill in order to get our table. This made us all drunk at dinner but the cocktails were delicious and we will definitely want to come back and drink at a more leisurely pace!
Yum yum yum I likes the rum
Awesome place ,staff is awesome. Good cocktails and food.
It is just my favorite restaurant in Toronto ... Food is exquisite...cocktail is wow...
Fun place, great drinks, great food.
Best haitian food and vibes
Great food. Had Haitian cuisine for the first time and I loved it. Meat and vegetables all had some nice unique flavour. Cocktails were great too..
Good value place, ncie setting, friendly staff, i like the lighting and atmosphere.
A hidden gem. Food is amazing and the selection of rum and rum cocktails is unmatched in Toronto.
Amazing service, great drinks, and even better food.
Very intimate setting for a date night, great hatian music played all night. Drinks are stiff but thats how I like it. Great spot!
Be warned, once you walk in time will move very quickly and it will be 1am in the morning and you totally forgot you had other night plans! Seriously, nothin but great vibes and memories here!
hey jalil
Too small and too crowded at times hard to walk through when you need to.
Great vibe and the best rum selection in the city!
Awesome cocktails and service! It almost had me thinking I was in the Caribbean! The venue could really benefit from a second set of doors or a curtain to block old man winter from entering!
Loved the food!
Great energy, delicious fare.
The food was excellent
One of my favs in Toronto. Big fan
Superb place!
Beautiful atmosphere. I only had drinks and it was delicious. Tried many of the drinks on the menu and my favourite was Fresco ! Can t wait to go back
Like the vibe and flavors. Strong but smooth tasting cocktails. Only tried a few snacks on the food menu but they were solid.
Their food is incredible! I always DIY my order to get griot, rice and plantain. Never disappoints. The drinks are everything. I think Ive tried every single cocktail and they are all very layered in terms of flavor. All these interesting notes. They are generous with the rum too. My only criticism is that the restaurant doesnt offer delivery. I think I would order weekly if they did.
Before the pandemic the food was on POINT. Griot and Mac Cheese is sensational. Just ordered some take out yesterday and it was mediocre. Cant wait for this pandemic to end or calm down and the regular chefs come back.
