Roywoods Bay Street in Toronto

I had the most delightful brunch experience at Roywoods! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, perfect for a relaxing weekend meal. The food was absolutely delicious. What truly made my visit exceptional, though, was the outstanding customer service. Marie, one of the servers, went above and beyond to ensure everything was just right. She was incredibly attentive, friendly, and made some excellent menu recommendations that I loved. If you re looking for a place that offers amazing food and service with a personal touch, this is it. I can t wait to come back!

Stopped by today to grab some lunch and was served by Yasir. He was nice, quick and got my order right. It was a pleasant experience and I will be stopping by again.

I went to this place around 1pm on December 16th to get Jerk Chicken to go. Everything was okay till something happened to the to-go bag. FYI, It was a paper bag and I was walking home. While I was walking suddenly the bag got ripped off because of the sauce or chicken juice leaking from the container which I found out after the incident. My clothes and the shoes got instantly stained. The food and pop soda got dropped on the ground in a second. I never did swing the bag around, all I did was just normally walking. I was 100% sure that It was poor packaging. I went back to the place and tried to give them a feedback that they should change the way how they pack foods due to this type of situation. The person who packed it said it never happened before, she closed the container well and I still dont know why this happened to me. She was very defensive and sounded like it was my fault just because it never happened in the past plus she believed that she didnt do it wrong. I told her that I want either refund or get a new one. She said she can give me a new one but when she done packing the new food she didnt give me a drink that also got dropped on the ground (I wasnt able to pick it up cause it was damaged. I asked her again to give me a drink as well. She said she cant. At that point, I was really upset that I genuinely couldnt understand whats going on with this lady. I had to explain and complain again that it wasnt my fault. After she told me that she has to confirm it with her manager over a $2.50 drink. I was really disappointed and very upset at that moment I ended up telling her that I will buy it. I really didnt want to spend more seconds in there. The worse part is that she kept telling me that its not her own business so she cant give away anything to the customer and also she didnt want to take a responsibility about it. This is the reason why she had to call her manager. This was definitely the WORST customer service Ive ever had. It was my second time visiting there 2 days in a row because I really enjoyed the food. But I dont think I will come back in the future ever again.

I was so let down with this location! The Bathurst and Fort York location serves the fresh, good portion and the food is always delicious. Unfortunately the Bay Street location does not measure up. I ordered jerk chicken, but they did not have this available so I ended with the BBQ chicken instead. The chicken portion was less than the regular portion I am use too, again because they were running low. The chicken was was so burnt and dry I struggled to cut through the meat most of it ended up in the garbage. The vegetables was less than the normal proper serving, because they ran out and I got the bottom of the pot or what was left. I asked why are the portions so small. He replied it s was the end of the night eh ?? it was 6:30 pm they close at 9pm. This was not a good representation to Jamaica cooking and an a bad reputation to the name Roywoods unfortunately I can not recommend this location! Big disappointment!

Bryan s customer service was terrific!!! AND the food tastes so unique & amazing! Definitely a must visit!!

Decided to give this restaurant a try and it was a complete waste of time and money. Curry goat is supposed to be yellow not black. Head chef needs to go take cooking classes, this is disgraceful.

Customer service and communication is terrible, when I tried to address the miscommunication I was ignored. Even though the food is somewhat ok I would not recommend this place unless you like mediocre service and food.

Food was awful! I ordered on uber eats, the rice was soggy the oxtail had no flavour and they forgot to pack the coleslaw that I paid for. There was also pieces of plastic in my rice. I ve eaten at many Jamaican restaurants and this is by far the worst one I ve ever ordered food from. I do not recommend! Very overpriced for their portions. To avoid getting food poisoning, please don t eat here!

Went by this business to support local. It was around 5 and everything looked meh. The server convinced me the Jerk chicken was the way to go. The rice was clearly sitting there from lunch as the jerk chicken. For nearly $15 bucks the portion of the serving was child like and the food was cold as hell! Cmon guys if you are going to stay open till 9 at least refresh your damn warmers!! Cold food, small portion, top dollar - I pass!!!

This restaurant sells Jah-Faking food. The food taste terrible. Theyre not even close to the flavour. This is a huge disappointment.

Upon entering the restaurant, the service and atmosphere were good. I ordered an Oxtail with rice and peas meal. However, when I got back to work and opened the container, I immediately knew it wasnt what I wanted. The dish lacked seasoning, flavor, and spice. Additionally, the rice was too soft. Overall, I did not enjoy the meal and ended up throwing it out. I hope the Roywoods Bay St. location sees these reviews and makes the necessary adjustments. Parking: Location one street up walking distance.

The OG jerk chicken sandwich is sooo good! I totally forgot to take a photo but I ll definitely make sure i take one next time. For anyone that goes there - definitely recommend the sandwich and I can t wait to try the rest of their food

Maybe this review will change when I get a chance to have their jerk but man was the patty an utter disappointment. It was a gelatinous filling with no flavour. The worst beef patty filing and flavour to date. Where was the spice!? Why would you offer or serve something this bland. Even the frozen variety does it better with their flavouring. Service was friendly, shop looked fresh and clean. You fooled me once, hope I m not fooled twice with the jerk.

I been coming for years but won t come back anymore. They keep letting me down. Had the curry chicken, the curry itself was bland but what was even worse was the meat which is very weird it didn t taste like chicken more like pork and also was undercooked. I really tried to eat it but had to throw it away.

The food and service was outstanding! Glad to see this restaurant expand. The ladies working on July 14th, 2024 around 2pm were amazing! Will definitely be back

The customer service here is exceptional! We called as it was our first time ordering and we wanted to know the options we had for sides. We spoke with Brian who had the BEST energy, very cheerful and helpful. When we went to get our meal we were welcomed with smiles from all staff. They happily catered to our requests and we got Jerk chicken, Fried chicken, festival and coleslaw. 10/10 for everything, the food was indeed flavorful! We will for sure be back. Big up unnu self everytime! p.s @ my fellow Jamaicans the staff speaks Patois!

I work near this location and decided to pick up some jerk chicken on my way home. Having been to the Union and Yorkdale location, I thought I was in for a delicious treat. Boy, was I wrong. Very disappointed with the 1lb jerk chicken I bought for $25. There was no flavour at all, the blandest jerk chicken Ive ever had. I dont know if this was an off batch but I expected much more from Roywoods. The person packing my order was pleasant but I cant get over how awful the chicken was. I will not be back to this location.

Grabbed the jerk chicken sandwich today. The coco bun and the slaw are unmatched. The chicken is flavourful and super tender. The owners are really nice too! Great great new spot for takeout. Can t wait to try the other items on the menu

At this point I think my co-workers and I have had everything on the menu. We really needed a proper West Indian spot in the area. Ola & Marium are the best we always get great service

I work nearby and so when I saw they were setting up their new location here, I was SO EXCITED because its actually so hard to find good Carribean food in this area of downtown without having to spend all your money. I previously ordered from their union station location and had a good experience, so when I saw they finally opened I immediately had to go. Theyre takeout only, no seating available. Its located in the unit that uncle tetsu used to be in before moving across the road, beside the donut store. During my 2 visits on weekdays between early to late afternoons, they seemed to still be installing new machinery but overall had a solid menu available. There was no other customer ahead of me and so the wait was a maximum of 5 minutes. The staff were friendly and helpful in answering my questions. During my visits, I ordered the Small Oxtail plate ($14) which comes with a small container almost overflowing with rice and beans, and oxtail, and then a side of coleslaw or stir fry vegetables served in a separate container; I opted for the vegetables. There was so much oxtail served I ran out of rice and they filled it to the brim that when you unpack it, it almost overflowed which was great! Unfortunately the vegetables were super salty. It reminded me of what I make at home but someone dropped a pile of salt on it. Also ordered the festival $2.50 and plantains $6. The festival unfortunately quickly turned very hard very quickly and I ultimately couldnt bite into it. The plantains were GREAT and I will definitely order that again. I seem to be experiencing some bad luck but Im still gonna keep visiting to see which dishes work for me.

It was my first time trying Caribbean food and this place did not disappoint! I got the large jerk chicken platter and it was plenty. I got it with a side of veggies. They were very generous with the chicken which was cooked to perfection and so flavourful. The staff were also extremely kind, polite, and professional. It was overall such a good experience coming here. I was so excited to try my food, I even forgot to take a picture! Disclaimer: this restaurant is for take out only, there is no place to sit and eat your meal.

1st time visiting and as a born and grown Jamaican, I m impressed! I had the oxtail with Cole slaw and a chicken soup and everything was seasoned to my liking. The serving sizes allow for sharing if you choose the large sizes. I will be returning again and again.

Super friendly and easy going staff with super delicious food. The oxtail with rice and peas was beyond good. Such perfect gravy and meaty ox tail with very little fat on the meat. Delicious. Rice and peas was on point wow.

Just visited Roywoods new location at bay and Dundas. Got a small order of goat and a small order jerk chicken. Food was amazing!! I will definitely be back.

I remember seeing Roywoods inside Yorkdale and Square One. I have always been curious to try it and I was glad to see theyve opened a storefront location on Bay and Dundas. This is truly one of the best jerk chickens I have had in the city and I cant wait to go back and try other stuff on their menu.

Amazing jerk chicken and curry goat. Even though I got a small, they really loaded up my dish. The lady at the counter was lovely and so patient with us while we decided what to eat.
