1133 Yonge St, Toronto, ON M4T 2Y7, Canada
Seasonal, internationally inspired American cuisine served in an elegant, black & gold room.
Friend suggested we try this restaurant. The service was not consistent - waiter came promptly, took our wine order, then shared the specials, and didn’t even give us a moment to order the burrata, then served other tables for 15 minutes before we could order our app. My Nebbiolo was served from the bottom of the bottle with all sediment, and they did provide a few extra ounces in its stead. The other awkward aspect was that the staff served us a happy anniversary soufflé and right away we said we didn’t order it and then they realized it was for the other table behind us…. Poor delivery and the other couple noticed 🤦🏽♂️ Food wise, the 10oz strip loin came out medium rare as I requested but I bit into something crunchy mid way… they also served it with a rosemary stalk that was charred. The Keg has a better quality steak at a better value. The onion rings were decent but way too much batter that you can’t taste the onion. My friend ordered the masala short ribs and she enjoyed it and it came with a rice/broccoli dish. The value for food and drink was way off. Maybe this was a good restaurant at some point but I didn’t see it.
The most incredible culinary and sensory experience! By far my favourite restaurant in Toronto. Sash is a genius and he and his staff make dining the most delicious symphony!
Back again for another incredible dinner. Truly outstanding. We had an absolutely amazing dinner. The food was spectacular and the service excellent. Loved the fois gras and the tenderloin. The chocolate mousse was superb.
Incredible dining experience from beginning to end. We ordered 3 species of fish, Dover, Med Seabass and another bass.. All exceeded expectations. The jumbo gilled shrimp stole the show and a must have (imported from Japan). This was a reunion dinner with my brother and wife who I haven't seen in years.. The service experience was incredible. Thank you Sash and Dustin!
Came in for lunch with my brother. We were seated and greeted promptly. The hostess chatted with us a little bit after we asked how long the establishment has been open for and got a brief overview of operations since opening. We ordered drinks and our food off of the summerlicious menu. Everything was great and timed well. Special mention the crostini’s with the tartar were DIVINE! The only minor docking in rating was for the lack of seasoning for the burger but was still very good. The burger also didn’t come with an accompaniment so we ordered fries to go with it, and the didn’t charge us for it. THE BEST TASTING FRIES IVE WVER HAD IN MY LIFE! And I like to think of myself as a fry connoisseur! The food runner and our server were both kind, professional, accommodating and prompt. The icing on the cake was being seen off by the chef and owner bidding us goodbye as we were leaving. That is very kind and thoughtful! I hope Sash sees many successful years and keeps serving amazing food with quality service! I will definitely be back! As someone who always takes advantage of the liciousto promotion (summer and winter) this dining experience will definitely bring me back again and tell all my friends!
Wow! This restaurant is incredible. We celebrated my wife’s 40th here (Aug 2022) and what a fantastic evening. Party of 10. Every single part of this night was perfect. Location and dining room were excellent. Service was unbelievable. Cocktails were legit. And the food was among the best bites all 10 of us have ever tasted. Sash Simpson (of North 44 and Bymark) is not just the name here. He was working his tail off the entire night, visible through the open kitchen. Every dish that went out to the dining room came through him. And it shows. Everything was absolutely perfect. To cap it off, Sash made a point to visit with the tables around the dining room at the end of the night. A very genuine and kind person, he loves making people happy through his food. So grateful for this restaurant. A true gem for our city for what I hope is years to come.
Excellent dining experience every time. Order anything on the menu and I can bet you’ll enjoy it. The ambiance and interior design is also very refined which makes it perfect for both an intimate dinner or entertaining with friends.
Sash, a new restaurant name after the chef, Sash Simpson, located in mid town Toronto. Valet parking is available for $15, and I believe it is the only way to park your car. The restaurant is at the second floor and separate into two sections, a dining area and open bar area. The dining area has a modern and warm design. Once we sat down, our waiter came quickly and introduced some special of the night. We did get the clam chowder soup (special feature of the night) and ahi tuna three way (regular menu) for starters. The clam chowder is creamy, and instead of chopped clam meat, the soup comes with 4 big pieces of fresh clam. The tuna three way is an art piece, beautifully presented. There are 3 different tastes of tuna, and comes with avocado to refresh my mouth after tasting each style of ahi tuna. For the main course, we ordered pan seared scallop (special of the night) and roasted lamb rack (regular menu). There are three large pieces of scallops, well seasoned, and cook perfectly. The lamb rack is juicy and tender, and it has a nice combine with the mint apple chutney. Finally, we had the souffle for dessert, however, it is so small when souffle was brought to our table. A little disappointment from the size of the souffle. Overall, i would come back to the second to try their other items from the menu.
Wonderful mains; very attentive staff. Great for celebrations.
Unbelievable food, top notch service. Not sure why more people don t know about this place. 10/10.
Incredible food and service.
Saw born hungry before going to restaurant. Great story, great restaurant.
OUTSTANDING! The whole experience last night from start to finish! Beautiful resto, wonderful knowledgeable wait staff, the food was delicious ~ seasonal young greens salad w: apple white miso black cod w: Dungeness crab ravioli; USDA prime New York steak w: rosemary butter, and a side of fab mushrooms .and then the Grand marnier Chocolate soufflé . And then to the kitchen to give Sash our personal thanks for a truly lovely meal and evening! THANK YOU to everyone at SASH!
Went for the first time last night. Undisputed best meal I ve had in the city as far back as I can remember
Good restaurant
Best food in the city!!
The food and service is always great!!
Sash Simpson is an artist. Always delicious. Great place. Great staff.
Food was solid (as it should be with their prices!), My complaint is about the drinks.. not only did the server fumble the orders, but my drink (mule) came only about 2/3 full. If youre going to charge over $20 for a drink, the least you could do is fill the cup all the way. Between the huge amount of ice, and small pour, I was literally paying about $5 a sip (drink was finished after 4 or 5 sips).
Very average restaurant, no special or uniquely tasting food, just an extremely overpriced restaurant. The waiter was nice until the bill came around, and was strongly insisting on an 18% tip.. $750 for dinner for 4 with 1 wine bottle not including tip. If it were $400, the rating would be a 3.5.
Spectacular food and service.
A wonderful experience with Winter licious at Sash. Flavouring was spot on, portions were enough to satisfy one s appetite. service was great, and the atmosphere was beautiful.
I had dinner last night at SASH -- Im a fan so go often -- but thought it time to post a review because the place is spectacular! White tablecloth, staff efficient, very friendly and know their stuff, but its the food every time. Cant believe Ive NEVER been disappointed! My very fave? Fois Gras !! Lorol
Went for winterlicious and the food was nothing special. Salad was very acidic and fish super plain. Also I asked for no pine nuts in the salad because Im extremely allergic to them but the staff forgot. Which is fine, it happens but my waiter denied twice that there are pine nuts in the salad and only on the third time when I pointed them out he took it back to the kitchen. Music was at good volume, didnt have to tell. They have coat check which is nice
Best restaurant in the city, hands down. It s not cheap, but it s is fresh, tasty and has great service.
Good food, service, and ambiance. Ordered endive salad: Expected more vinegarett. We also tried the shrimp for appetizers, which was very good. For main course, I had chicken and my wife had lamb chops. Both were excellent. Chicken was tender, juicy with a subtle sauce. Wine was a bit on the expensive side, but very good.
Had a wonderful evening here. Food was great, very happy with the wine list. Service was a little slow (too much time between our apps and entrees) but understandable given a jam packed Saturday night. Would recommend the shrimp carnaroli risotto. Our friends loved the dover sole. And all the patrons were dressed so nicely!
5 stars. You won t regret it. Got to meet the owner/chef and his story is truly incredible. The food and service left nothing to be desired.
One of my favourite restaurants in the city. Everything is delicious, always. From start to finish.
Delicious food, good service. Very good experience overall. Definitely one of the better restaurants in the area. Staff are very friendly and the food is superb.
Mains were yummy (black cod and lobster risotto). Rock shrimp left something to be desired- not enough sauce and heavy breading. But service was great and atmosphere was lovely- bit of an older crowd for sure. I am sure we will return
good food
I visited this wonderful place for my dads birthday on Saturday and had an amazing experience. The food was exceptionally delicious, and the ambiance exuded upscale elegance. The staff were incredibly friendly and professional. Chef Sash was present, and his warm, humble demeanor truly elevated the entire dining experience. I cant wait to return soon.
Amazing service, staff were very attentive and polite. Food was not only very delicious but also beautiful. We attended a wedding and I had the beet and brioche salad, the Sea Bass with pakoras and crispy okra. Dessert was a fantastic pumpkin tart perfect amout of sweetness. The late night bites were great as well. Siders, fries and cookies were all very tasty. I will definitely be coming back sooner than later!
Great staff and atmosphere, not greatest value
Wow, this restaurant is a real treat! Atmosphere, great. Service, great. Food, outstanding. I had sea bass in some kind of curry sauce with vegetable pakoras that was SO DELICIOUS!!!!! And a crispy artichoke salad that was extremely fresh and flavorful.
Outstanding!
Truffle fries are a must!
Beyond amazing service! Sash is a total gem! This was my first time at the restaurant and it is now my go to! Can t wait to visit next week!
Considerate service, great energy, and delicious food to boot, whats not to love?
I have now dined at Sash twice. Once pre-Covid and most recently this past Valentines Day, and unfortunately both experiences have been disappointing. On my first visit, I have to concede that the meal was excellent. However it was ridiculously expensive and I was extremely fortunate to be a guest who was not paying. Most recently, on February 14th. 2022, my guest and I received an indifferent reception at best and for lack of a better description were then regally ripped off. Two average Steak Tartares at $36 each, to commence, followed by a far from fresh Dover Sole that my guest could not eat and returned. To give Sash credit they did not charge for the returned Sole and its a good thing that they didnt, because I was absolutely shocked when I received my bill and discovered that the single portion had cost $120 ! More fool me, for not enquiring what MP (market price) was...but such larceny is beyond the pale, Covid or no Covid. And I cannot see how Sash can survive, charging such prices for their food and wine...viz a 5 oz glass of Chablis setting me back a mere $23, with a bargain 9 ozs offered at $45 ! Once bitten , twice shy, the adage goes. So I guess Covid has fogged my mind? But as I exited - $302.00 for 2 starters, one main course and a 5 oz glass of wine (incl. 18% tip), I made a mental note to not even chance a third strike.
Sash is truly the best of the best. From the quality service, to the gorgeous atmosphere/setting, and the truly incredible menu (both food and drinks). I will always recommend Sash to anyone looking for a fantastic lunch or dinner/night out.
Great food and good service
Wonderful service by Nick on May 27. Thank you for the hospitality.
Another wonderful meal at Sash. Delicious, elevated food in an elegant yet relaxed atmosphere.
We love Sash! We just enjoyed a great lunch on their beautiful patio. It Felt that we were on VK in the South of France or Italy :-) absolutely wonderful !!
Small station the station is under construction for a new design.
First time dining at Sash last Friday evening. Outstanding experience all the way around. Service was excellent, from start to finish. Menu well crafted and food was high quality, exceptionally well prepared. Really comfortable, contemporary setting. Highly recommended.
AAA
Vegetarian options: There were 2 or 3 vegetarian options Parking: Street parking only
sorry to be doing this but I have had a great meal at Sash before the pandemic but last night was not good. The waiter was below average. The servers were good but the food was very expensive and frankly had very little flavour. we tried a variety of dishes and all in out party of 6 thought it was quite poor. we see no need to spend that kind of money and have a waiter with attitude and bad food
The food is amazing. Staff were great. Delicious cocktails too. Have been back a couple times, definitely going back again.
After a long flight, it turned out to be the best welcome dinner we could have.
Very friendly and attentive staff. The food was delicious. Would definitely come back.
A 5oz glass of wine more expensive than the entire bottle st LCBO. A 9oz glass is almost the cost of 2 bottles. And $110 for corkage? Better to just not offer it than insult your guests this way. Theres a fine line between markup and gouging and this firmly crosses it! The only other restaurant I ever remember being that bad was North 44.
Best meal we ve had all year. Just incredible - the service, the food, the ambiance - all of it!!! Will be coming regularly to enjoy this special place.
high prices and bad food beware
Yonge street seating kinda busy but food and service are excellent.
Most terrible experience, it was Friday night about 10.pm, the atmosphere was inviting, we wanted something light and a cocktail. Poor service. When asked to take home our leftovers, manager said sorry we broke the plate. After complaining we were given a generous $15.00 card.
Great food and great setup.
Go-to finer dining for the Yonge & St Clair crowd, which the neighborhood badly needs. Im about a third into the menu and the favorites are the scallops and ostrich, in that order. Its all absolutely delicious. Fine cocktails, great service, better portions. The food really speaks for itself.
Sash is a MUST! Someone call Micheline star, because this restaurant deserves such status!
Perfect in every way.
I brought my family here a few weeks ago for a surprise dinner. We arrived for an late evening meal, and definitely felt as though we had been bothering the waiter. Not to mention, when we felt rushed, we asked to take the rest of our meals home. Only one dish made it to a take-out bag, the other meal, Unfortunately we dropped your plate. Sorry The manager is actually the one who mentioned this. With an awful, disrespectful, and out right rude attitude. As in we dropped your plate, and all the food you wanted to take home, but please pay full price, and thanks for coming feel. This was to my utmost shock. They weren t wanting to compensate this mistake at all, until I had expressed my frustration. With my mentioning to the manager of my frustration, she ended up giving us a $15.00 gift card to the restaurant. Such a shame. For a restaurant like this, in the specific location, and knowing the crowd that attends a place like this, I would suggest to dine elsewhere. 1 star given for effort in the gift card approach.
Great food and very nice selection of wine and cocktails. Great service.
Absolutely superb! Top-notch food, interesting menu with flavours unlike others I have seen in Toronto. Fabulous service. Loved the oysters but in hindsight should have gone for one of the usual and delicious appetizers that I could not get elsewhere. Seabass was fabulous and a banana soufflé to die for
Nothing short of spectacular, period.
Fantastic dining experience. The seafood platter, steaks and souffle were exceptional while Bobby Sultan and Nick provided excellent service. We also met Sash who is clearly a very talented chef. Pricey but worth it.
Went there Sat night for my Birthday. Food and service by Shawn and team was awesome. Thank You Sash!
As the former executive chef at North 44, Sash had a lot to live up to in his new venture - and live up to it he did! The food speaks for itself, updating some favourites and offering many seasonal choices, the menu at Sash has delicious options for everyone (my favourites are the rock shrimp, lobster (if on the menu), steak with truffle risotto and any of his fish dishes). The staff are just the right amount of attentive, providing great service without elaborate napkin folding or interruptions. Its fine dinning, so expect higher prices, but worth every penny If you are a true foodie.
Fantastic restaurant for anyone who appreciates fine dinning - never disappoints.
The food was spectacular and the service was next level. Open concept gives it a really cozy atmosphere
Food is great... I just find it a little pack in the restaurant.
Awesome food and awesome service. What more can I say?
Excellent restaurant! Very pleasant experience. Sash & his team are extremely attentive to their customers needs.
Totally outstanding, service, food and ambience...its about time Sash did his thing, his way...our first visit was better than expected and will not be our last!! Congrats to Sash and his team
What a meal. Great resto, wonderful service, food to die for. Fall off the bone meat, excellent texture risotto and everything you hope from everything else. Coffee was also quality.
I really enjoyed my meal, i had the halibut and chips. The service was great. Will definitely be going back to try their dinner menu.
Alway special. Thank you to everyone there for executing perfectly.
Excellent!
Wonderful meal, stellar service.
There is few places like this one in the city. The food is ridiculously good, the drinks are so well executed, the service is something from the old school where people felt pride as to how well they did with their customers, and to top it all up, the chef comes to your table and asks how was your meal wad and stays for a drink. This place is a gem, and whoever understands quality of service and food should be making their way over there as soon as possible. We wish Sash all the best and hope to see him soon.
Best restaurant Ive ever eaten at!! Not only is the food to die for but the entire experience is so memorable. Spectacular service, beautiful ambience, and absolutely delicious food. Next time youre hungry, Sash is your place.
Great food and wine and lovely decor. Bison tartare and roasted squab was tasty and desserts of lemon pie and chocolate soufflé was delightful. Highly recommend it!
I have had the immense pleasure of dining at this restaurant. The food is fantastic, the service is impeccable, and the ambiance is warm and inviting!
On the suggestion from a friend, I chose Sash restaurant to celebrate my wifes birthday. We made reservations for a Saturday night in mid July. The food, absolutely fantastic, from cocktails to desert. The service was a 10 out of 10, what one would expect from a 5 star restaurant. At the end of our evening, we had the great pleasure of meeting Sash, the founder/owner. I simply cant say enough good things about this evening. We will definitely return soon.
Creative dishes. Loved the tempura zuchini as appetizer.
Perfection in a neighborhood restaurant
A wonderful, memorable dining experience. All the staff were friendly and professional and very attentive. My guest loved her oysters and I thoroughly enjoyed my shrimp tempura, crabcake and white asparagus appetizer. My guest was very pleased with her Nova Scotia Lobster and its wonderful accompanying flavors. My seafood which included shrimp, scallops and clams were perfectly cooked. Dessert did not disappoint. The chocolate souffle was a taste I still savour and the three scoops of different flavored ice creams were a nice finish. This restaurant is sure to be a huge success. Our server Ayron helped to create the perfect mood.
Delicious food, great service
I was celebrating my birthday dinner with my wife here. They made us sit in a corner on an L-shaped sofa seat facing the window glass. Sometimes the waiters forgot that we existed. That is definitely not a fine dine experience. Main course was OK, but personally, if you want to feel special or make your loved one feel special or treated well on their special day in a restaurant setting, Sash is not the place. Extremely Disappointed.
First time at Sash. Heard a lot about the Chef and knew him from North 44. Here are my thoughts: in summary, food is made toward a high end crowd, a little bit costly but some of the dishes were delicious some were ok. In detail, fist ambience was very nice, music not too loud like other reviews indicated and not disco music. Service was great, minor slips here and there, Manager is very attentive and tried hard to catch everything. Cocktails, excellent. fantastic. Wine menu, smaller but i did enjoy what they offered. Appetizers, simply delicious especially Crab cake and Tuna. Incredible. The Sea Bass another delicious dish, lamb, a touch on the boring side. Steaks looked divine and overheard other customers loving them. Deserts, again fantastic. I would give 4.5 stars, some slips on the service side, one of the mains did not deliver, and a bit too pricey. Otherwise, great new place and we will go back. Management and Chef seem to function as a great team.
Food was excellent. There is a good variety of offerings. Bison tenderloin and grilled seafood were both outstanding. The atmosphere is relaxing... It sounds busy but not too loud. The wait staff need some training...but the place is still new and they have the right attitude. Owner/chef came to the table near the end of our stay. A nice touch. Prices are reasonable for what you get. They have some excellent wine selections particularly the wines from Castello Di Ama.
Incredible food, great service, and very friendly staff. Worth every penny. Looking forward to going back again sometime.
Amazing service and delicious menu.
Theres nothing special about these types of restaurants. Theyre all just about the same. They put on an aura about themselves. The one thing I like about all of them is theyre priced to keep the riff raff out. It was a very nice atmosphere, tables and booths were spacious. We ordered different items from the menu. My Bison steak was extremely salty - thats not healthy. It was served with what resembled 2 potato crisps, some spinach, and whatever else. Now the meat was well cooked and very tender, but just too salty. When I sit down to eat, I want a wholesome, hearty meal, not some Mickey mouse fancy, kings new clothes plate. The chuckle for the night was the waiter - claimed to be from Brazil but hes from Bangladesh, gee whiz. For those few morsels it came up to $341.47 , who cares, money is no problem. The good part about that like I mentioned before is its priced to keep the riff raff out!
Very good place. Would recommend to anyone. Definitely returning. Ambience is great, service is excellent. Waiters and staff are all friendly. Nothing else to say. Great place, great food!
Spectacular dining experience. Love this place, stunning restaurant, and most importantly, chefs that are really passionate about food. Ill be back.
Amazing decor, excellent food and unique menu items.
Amazing food and owner!
Exceptional
The food quality is out of this world. Delicious.
Wonderful in every way. Frank & I have our own restaurant and having the time off to dine is rare for us, so we carefully pick and choose where we want to go. This was such a treat. Thank you Sash!
Disappointing experience. Ate at the bar when a drunk from the street came in and sat beside us. The staff kept on apologizing and then the drunk threw his glass across the bar before leaving. I was shocked that nothing on our bill was compt. Poor management decision. Won t be back.
Have been for two functions and this has quickly become a favourite. Fantastic service, impecible flavours, stunning decor. Am coming back asap.
We visited Sash for the first time ever with a small group of 6, for an intimate birthday celebration dinner. Service was exceptional! Our servers were incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive; felt truly authentic. At the end of our meal, the Owner Sash spent time to speak with our group, bonding - over the trials and triumphs of being a restauranteur - with Bernard and Manon who also operate a charming little French restaurant in Whitby #NiceBistro. Ambience was elegant, well laid out and adorned by a beautifully lit Christmas tree. The window seats had an air of magic and romance, hugging against the curved floor-to-ceiling windows and overlooking the cityscape below. Our group sat at little more group-friendly layout, which was equally wonderful in its own way. Food.... was delicious. Every item we ordered was mouthwatering good, from the first to the very last bite. The aroma, flavours, colors, textures, presentation & plating... We started with a variety of appetizers; all of which were gobbled up - they were so good! For main I had the Chilean Seabass with Madras Curry served with vegetable pakoras and fried okras - what I can only describe as a delightful symphony of flavours, colours and textures that caress the tastebuds and sights. We also had few sides including one of the best tasting Risotto I ve ever tasted. Finally finishing off with the most decadent yet light and fluffy serving of warm and freshly made Chocolate Soufflé, accompanied by servings of milk chocolate and toffee sauces . Even sweeter, to our surprise this dessert was on the house as a small treat for the birthday boy. I wish I had taken more photos but we ravished it all so quickly there was not enough time for photos. HIGHLY RECOMMEND
Everything was above expectation, the ambiance, the wine, the charcuterie with truffle foie gras... The photos do not do it justice. The food was incredible and we were fortunate enough to meet chef Sash, such a genuine passionate man. We could not have been happier with our dining experience .
Incredible experience all around. Hat off to you SASH! Since it has opened I have had the privilege dining twice at this 5 star restaurant. The service is impeccable and the food is to die for. So far ive tried almost everything on the menu...2020 goals=to taste it all.. Well done Mr. Sash Simpson, see you soon...
