Simba Grill Restaurant in Toronto

I ordered Pilao last night - was the worst Pilao I have ever tasted - the meat was scarce and it was full of potatoes that were not well cooked - the Pilao was cold and had no taste of Pilao at all - I was very disappointed - Simba Grill you should do better that was not an East African Pilao - I make better Pilao myself - I wanted to taste your Pilao and was very disappointed especially that you packed it for a very long time - when picked up it was very cold and tasteless - Please do better - we dont pay money to get tasteless food -

incredible beef mishkaki - i ve never tried it before coming to this restaurant, but they ve created a craving in me for it! wouldn t recommend the salad as it s just veggies w no sauce, just ask for extra fries instead. i can t wait to come back again, i ve already been suggesting it to all my friends!

Overall a great restaurant to visit. The new owner did a really fantastic job with the place. Food OMG it was fresh hot and delicious all at the same time. I couldnt have asked for a better service than this. Owner is friendly and kind along with the staff as well. I would recommend this place for any occasion.

Simba Grill is my go to spot for tea and mandazi. Forget about Tim Hortons, the tea here is 100 times better. Nothing beats East African style chai. Its also a great spot for other great East African snacks and dinner/lunch meals. Dont forget the dessert! Probably the only spot in the city with Kasata which is a dessert made with ice cream, chocolate sauce and nuts (you can get it without nuts too). Dietary restrictions: Halal

Amazing East African Food. Ribs are soo yummy and Nundu Masala; mouth watering!! They do an excellent job at catering to our needs. They also have excellent customer service. Shout out to Elayz he works extra hard to keep the quality to the standards!

The best Samosas around. All other food is also awesome. It is just like my mom s cooking. I only wish the prices will go down to pre Covid level. The pricing has increased too much over the past few years. I would eat here more often if the pricing was more affordable. I will still indulge; as the food is tasty enough. A treat place for east African Indian food.

Best Place to go for East African Foods I love how soft and delicious their Ugali is and how well the Beef Curry compliments it. Add to that the Fresh Mandazi, Vitumbua and Mabuyu. Guaranteed to brings wave upon wave of Nostalgia. Parking: Easy to get parking in the evenings.

I stopped in because I live in the area. This was my very first time trying african food. It was a truly incredible first experience. I ordered the donair and fries. It was a good portion. I also ordered a vimto it was very refreshing

If you are looking for a taste of East Africa look no further! The Kebabs are the best I have had in Canada ..a must try for everyone who visits. We had their ribs, grilled chicken and mishkaki(pic attached) ..we ordered the nyundu and it was just like home. Everything we had was just amazing! If you are looking for additional spice just ask them for the real hot sauce ..note that it is extremely spicy so do try a bit before fully commiting to it :) Will definitely be visiting again and this time to try their Fish

Simba Grill catered for a birthday party for me last Sunday. I ordered the chicken mishkaki, vegetable samosas, chicken samosas, and rice.. Everything was well seasoned, the price was really good especially with the price inflation going on.

This is my second time going back, first time I went I got the combo platter for 2 and everything was absolutely delicious. Second time I went back for a large order of their samosas. Hands down the best samosa I ve ever had, thin and flakey but decent size and very filling. Staff there is very warm, friendly and welcoming. They treat you like family

Sorry this review is long overdue, visited this place with family for dinner few weeks ago and had a great experience. The owners are excellent hosts and had a great time talking to them. Coming to food we ordered the meal for 2, pili pili ribs, nylon bhajia, kababs, beef cutlets, samosas and tea. The pili pili ribs were excellent, well marinated, tender and moist and tasted great. The masala fries were great as well as the kababs and mishkaki. Very unique and homely taste and feeling. Enjoyed the atmosphere and food. Would love to visit again soon. Thanks for the wonderful food and experience.

I have not had Tanzanian food this good since I left Dar. Took me back. My only suggested improvement would be to sprinkle pili pili on the mogo

This is a very cosy restaurent. Food is very tasty and the hosts - Karim and Karima are an amazing couple. We had a serving of Mogo (cassava fries) beef ribs and mushkaki (beef and chicken on skewers. Portion was generous and yes I had a sudden craving for ugali (corn dumpling) after 40+ years. Price is right. We will be back there!!

Great place friendly owners and excellent service

I want to give this place 10 (hint hint Google). The service speaks volumes. Karima and her husband ooze warmth. It felt like we were having dinner with family. The two of us ate and packed the rest for the next day (see picture of our takeout. Huge portion). Beef Samosas, Mogo (Cassava sticks), Kabab, Chutneys to die for (I will definitely feel the effects of pili pili mbuzi tomorrow ). Dinner is not complete without good ole fashioned pop (bottles), masala chai and CASSATA . The food was so delicious, we preordered Fried Red Snapper and Beef Pilau for the next day. This review speaks volumes. I am very nitpicky so if I say it was delicious, believe me it was DELICIOUS! Don t take my word, try it for yourself. What do you have to lose?

First time going to this establishment and I had a great experience. Im not very familiar with African cuisine but I immensely enjoyed my meal of Ugali with Chicken curry. Also appreciative of the Owner and the waitstaff for their hospitality.

I have been coming to this place for years. Previously there was this older man who passed away his rest his soul he was such a gem. Now there are new owners and that s changed everything. Firstly my husband bought an African delicacy they charged him triple he returned it on the spot. When week before there own workers charged him what he was paying. Secondly their food dishes quantity are very less. It s not your money s worth. The couple there talk very sweetly to you then con you with a bill that sky rockets. I ve seen variations in their price but before never said anything. At least give people proper portions we ended up having to buy McDonald s for our kids too because the portion was so less and we were charged an arm and leg for each item. It really shows on their character as humans. I m also considering reporting them to better business bureau because my husband has seen they give people they know large amounts of food. I would much rather go to another restaurant that at leasts gives you proper portions and doesn t rip you off by changing different prices each day. Please be mindful unless you plan to spend hundreds of dollars for 1-2 food items.

I spent around an hour in the restaurant and felt like I was in a restaurant in Tanzania, I ordered a bowl of chana bateta and chicken pili pili, the portions were quite reasonable in accordance to their prices. The food was a 4/5 and the host was very humble and quite happy to see someone from his home country.

We were there yesterday just as the New Management had taken over. Newley renovated, Delicious East African Indian food and amazing quick service. A must try for everyone. Thank you for a great experience. All the best to you.

The menu is extensive with a number of great options, but I found amazing value with the combo options which allow you to try some of the top items at an excellent price. The new ownership has done a great job freshening up the decor inside, and the incredible food is only outdone by the top-notch service. I will definitely be making a return in the near future as there are many more unique items to try, made even better by the smiling faces who serve them. Enjoy!

Under New Management ! Ordered a variety of items from the On the Side Menu so we could share. Beef Ribs & Masala Chips portion sizes were good. Mogo Pili pili was great! All Chutneys are made inhouse and were delicious esp. their coconut chutney. The husband wife and their chef Annie were very hospitable. My wife also took Vitumbwa which were the freshest and most delicious. They also sell other savoury items which are not on the menu. For those looking for Mbuya/Ubuyu/Bongo, they have them available. We will be visiting them again for sure. :)

Came in Simba Grill thinking a Normal Barbecue place.. This family business is run by Gorgeous family. Warm welcome is their Normal way of receiving their Guests.. In no time we felt at home.. You dont have appetite??? No worries.. Food is so delicious and freshly served that you will eat feeling the taste buds getting activated and in no time you will start filling yourself to the maximum. Ive been going to this restaurant for about 10 years and each and every time Im drooooooling over their butter chicken. ABSOLUTE BEST EVER! its so creamy and flavorful. The wait for food can be long but I think its made when ordered. The portions are HUGE and well priced. BBQ Wings are amazing also. The staff are so nice and attentive. A Top 5 Faves of mine for sure!

We ordered takeout shrimp pili pili curry among a bunch of things. The rest of the food tasted good. But the shrimp was woefully inadequate and doesn t justify the $22 price tag! Virtually no curry and shrimp was overcooked (chewy). All the item prices have gone up drastically. I feel the owner is getting a bit too greedy! Be very specific when you order because similar items exist in the Apps & Mains. Beware the owner might give you the app and charge you for the main!!

Went for dinner which was OK. Food got cold while eating so didnt enjoy that much. The stuff they were selling on the shelf were way too expensive. Prices were OK. Lots to choose from the menu.

Typical East African Cuisine. Food was good, but obviously not as good as the homeland. Owner was old school guy, so dont expect the same type of service & hospitality as other restaurants. But none the less, my family had a great time. Small little place in North York. Clean as well. May come back if we are in the area.
