The food was not good, the waitresses were very rude, the billing system was very tricky, and not logical. Whenever you feel like having a good Ethopian meal experience please find somewhere better . This place is not worth the hype!!
The food is a 10/10 Ethiopia dish expirience. Flavorful, well served and satisfying. The portions are good too. The interior could use a little work match the food and service.
We arrived at the restaurant around 8:30 PM, and our experience was unfortunately disappointing. From the moment we were seated, the service was extremely lacking. Despite the restaurant not being overly busy, our server did not acknowledge us for an extended period. We eventually had to ask her to clean the table, which still had plates from previous diners, and it wasn't until 8:50 PM that this was addressed. The server’s attitude throughout the evening was unacceptable. She was consistently rude, dismissive, and inattentive. We felt like we had to practically beg for her to take our orders and address our requests. We frequently had to flag her down just to get updates on our food and drink orders, which made the entire dining experience frustrating and uncomfortable. Moreover, the server never once smiled or showed any warmth, contributing to a cold and unwelcoming atmosphere. We are regular customers who have always appreciated the quality of the food here, but the service we encountered during this visit was so poor that it overshadowed our usual enjoyment. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this restaurant, and I will not be returning.
My recent visit to this restaurant, an Ethiopian dining establishment, was nothing short of a complete disaster. From the appalling food quality to the unwelcoming environment, rude owner/manager, ignorant waiters, and extensive waiting times, this restaurant failed on every front. I strongly urge you to steer clear of this place. Let's start with the food. The dishes I ordered were a far cry from authentic Ethiopian cuisine. The flavors were off, the quality was subpar, and it was evident that little care was taken in their preparation. The meal was unappetizing and left me feeling utterly disappointed. On top of the disappointing food, the atmosphere of the restaurant was unwelcoming and lacked cleanliness. The ambiance was dull, and it was clear that the upkeep of the place was neglected, making it an unappealing space to dine in. The behavior of the owner/manager was equally disheartening. Their rudeness and lack of professionalism were truly astonishing. They showed a complete disregard for customer service and failed to address any concerns raised about the food or the overall experience. The waiters were no better. Their attitude was appalling, and their ignorance of basic customer service principles was shocking. They seemed disinterested and inattentive, adding to the already dismal dining experience. To make matters worse, the waiting times were exorbitant. I had to wait an unreasonably long time to place my order, and receive my food. The inefficiency and lack of organization were frustrating and unacceptable. In conclusion, this is a place to avoid at all costs. From the unpalatable food to the unwelcoming environment, rude owner/manager, ignorant waiters, and extensive waiting times, there is nothing positive to say about this establishment. Save yourself the trouble and look elsewhere for a satisfying Ethiopian dining experience.
Great place. Had the platter with Beef strips. All tasted great and they even had Gluten free ingera (made from Teff flour). Not spicy, could have been a little more bit. The meat strips had great taste but were really not a good cut of meet. Tons of fat and tendons because some prices I couldn’t even tear apart. The coffee tastes good and it was strong. Overall good place. It’s small but cozy.
Discovered this gem and I was pleasantly surprised with the amazing food. We had veggie platter and the spiced tea. Both were amazing. The service was a little too slow and had to wait for over 20min for the food when the restaurant was empty. Other than that, it was great
Very nice Ethiopian Restaurant! We really Enjoyed the food! Definitely will come again! 😋👍😉
Great food, great music, great people! A jewel of Toronto indeed. Consistently delicious, executed superbly and reasonably priced. Our group had lamb, chicken and beef, and also ceremony coffee. All perfection.
Amazing Ethiopian food. Service and atmosphere was also very welcoming.
The food the waitress the weather everything is amazing
Best restaurant in Toronto. God bless the suppliers
Good eats
Maybe they have good food but place is not inviting. Needs updating and friendly customer service
Nice food and good service
They offer the best vegan Ethiopian dish!
I had Kornis [meat combo] to go and it was absolutely terrible. It was just siga firfir, 2 tablespoons of cooked kitfo, 1 tablespoon of gomen and 2 teaspoons of cheese. The sora that used to be is no longer there. It was just horrible
Excelente experience! First time customer but I ll be back !
The food was not good as will as services. Music is too loud. If you are the vegetarian you are not well coming to this restaurant and the owner of the restaurant not respect the customer even, he dont care a bout the business.
My best restaurant of Ethiopian food in Toronto
The restaurant industry thrives on the patronage of customers, yet its all too common for establishments to overlook the importance of treating patrons with respect and serving quality food. A customers experience is shaped not only by the taste of the meal but also by the level of respect and attention received. When a restaurant fails to meet expectations, its not just a disappointment; its a direct threat to the businesss success. It seems to me this restaurant has forgotten that the customers make or break their business.
I had the best food feels like home
It is Fantastic but they dont serve Salad
Was amazing love going there food amazing
Best authentic Ethiopian food in Toronto!!!
Excellent Service and Delcious Food.
Great food
The cuisine is delightful, and the service, especially from TG and Yodit, is attentive and friendly.
I suggest everyone to try there amazing food and service.
This place is so best, beat food, best service with good price. Parking: Its in-front of the restaurant. Food : 5/5 |
Food
It is good indeed
Great food and great service.
Authentic and genuine. Amazing food and service.
Delicious and great atmosphere, kind staff and lovely music
Was un Experience was better than I expected. Good people and good service. Cant wait to come again.
good Ethiopian food
Sora is an absolute gem & well worth the wait. The fact that it s often packed with locals on a strip full of Ethiopian restaurants tells you everything you need to know. Service is generally good but if they re slow take the opportunity to soak in the atmosphere & be transported to Ethiopia. Portions are generous and very fairly priced (especially the platters).
Great Ethiopia authentic dishes. Keep good work.
Amaizing food I love their Qiqil, great service .
Vegetarian options: Amazing vegan food Dietary restrictions: Vegan friendly Food : 5/5 |
Best Ethiopian food
I appreciated the service and quality of the food
The food is so delicious, but customer service is zero.
One of the best restaurant in the city of Toronto
Amazing and delicious food, great customer service
The worst service ever and most disrespectful servers Ive ever encountered.
The food is good however the service is terrible. they dont accept debit or credit also they dont want to answer calls I asked them why they said they do it purposely not to accept orders.
Keep it up. Still in my opinion they provide the most delicious Ethiopian food in town. Ambience have improved. A good place to come if you want to enjoy authentic Ethiopian dishes.
I like the lamb soup it is so good try it...
Amazing and delicious food
The food was okay. The portion was pretty much.
The food was great, service was bad. It took a while for someone to ask us what we want to order they seem to be serving only people they recognize or they don t even come greet you. It s sad to see such a nice business go down the hill because of lack of service. That s it for me.
Finest food, very nice staff members, regularly excellent atmosphere.
Good service
Amazing food! Owner is super nice!
Home like food we are happy with every thing thank you.
Great food the service from the waitress wasn t what it could be but I think it was because of the language barrier but besides that nice place to eat nothing fancy with rich and delicious food.
Got take-out a few times from here and really enjoyed it. Consistently great food. Its cash only so be aware of that. I drive 30-45min to go here, and its worth it.
The food is amazing
White guy eating Ethiopian food. Good stuff!
Im vegan and they have the best firfir and veggies I absolutely love, love the food, customer service excellent, I wish they decorate the place more make it fancy but I understand they might not have the budget for it, running restaurant isnt easy, definitely going back with some friends I got let them eat good food
We live close to the Danforth, and after checking out a few of the Ethiopian restaurants there, we recently discovered Sora. So far, I have to say, Sora beats all others. The food is absolutely amazing!!!
Good food
Grate Ethiopian food and good service.
I really loved the food at sora but the customer service is not as expected, plus every time i make a take away order I have to wait 20 min . Even though I came to pick up the food on time . Sadly
Ordered to go while waiting for my order one of the waiters gave my order to someone else. Waited for 1 hour what a joke restaurant
Best Ethiopian cuisine with fair price.
I live in the neighborhood and an Ethiopian Uber driver recommended Sora. I have found it to be the best in the neighborhood and our area is full of Ethiopian restaurants. Ask for the injera from Ethiopia. It in flown in daily and is the authentic stuff made with teff. Its worth the extra couple bucks. The Sora platter has a nice mix of meat and vegetable options even for just one person.
Poor customer service,
I LOVE the food and the customer service. Will definitely come back!!
This place generally has really good food. Their food is what keeps people coming back, and myself included atleast from time to time. However, customer service needs help. There are two waitresses who do a great job, however there is one that really doesnt care all that much. Most recently, I got take out with the e.t injera that looked like left overs after I specifically asked for injera made in Canada. This is the second time the switch was done, leading me to believe they had wanted to clear out the Ethiopian injera before it went bad at night. For that reason, you loose a *.
Food was really, really good.
Best ethiopian food on the block..
The food is on fire and waiter are very polite
The food is delicious. Especially if you looking to have an authentic Ethiopian/Eritrea food this is the best place to be. The staff is professional and polite!
The food is delicious.
Tasty cha cha, coffee was great! Would go back
Its a place where you can find authentic Ethiopian foods!!
The best taste of Ethiopian traditional food!
Very nice
Geat food
Decent price. Delicious food and excellent customer service.
Too slow. Had to wait a good 20 min to get attention. Mind you there were 6 people in the place. Food was not as good as it used to be. The tibs they served was runny and seasoned with far too much salt. Attitude of the servers, abominable! Will I ever return? Hell No. I hope the owner is reading this. We live in Canada, customer service is essential. Last year this time, the place was full of people, today at 10.22 4 out of 9 tables is occupied. What does that say? Shame on your customer service Sora Restaurant! Posted on Feb 1, 2019
Authentic Ethiopian food. Very good taste and also good portion. I highly recommend SORA.
Exceptionally delicious, clean, and more supper healthy than others in the area!
The food here is great, I usually get the meat platter for 2 and it is way more than enough for 2 people. I really like the mix of veggie and meat dishes everything has a good amount of spice and sauce.
Good food and Coffee. Will definitely visit again!
Best ethiopian cuisine!
Best ethiopian authentic meals
Good food and prices. Service is quick. Food quality wise, this is the best East African restaurant on Danforth.
Delicious Habeshas food
Very good food and service
Sora Restaurant is amazing number one in North America
Good food and great service
Best restaurant in the city amazing service and amazing food, thanks sora!!!!
Best Ethiopian restaurant in Toronto by far. Must try if you are in Toronto. Delicious food, great service and amazing price
Been going there for years now. Best Ethiopian food in Toronto! Always same food flavour and amazing test. 1st class service and friendly as well. Highly recommend, they won t be disappoint you!!
Sora Restaurant is a great place with many Ethiopian platter options. The portions are large the food is excellent, the atmosphere was relaxed, and everything is fairly priced. Sora Restaurant is a great location for lunch or dinner; offers food for vegans, vegetarians, and meat eaters; and has an outdoor seating that looks out towards Danforh Ave. I highly recommend Sora Restaurant for anyone with a taste for Ethiopian food! The waitress are very kind and made some great recommendations so do not be shy to ask. I always bringing my friend and family and never disappoint! The beef tibs were soooooooo delicious! The veggies were perfectly cooked and the beef tasted as if the flavor was infused into it. I am not a big fan of the salad but I always enjoy the salad very much. The food is more like mild and flavorful. The Sara restaurant creates a unique and authentic experience along with the coffee ceremony. I would definitely recommend this place.
Good food
Sora has the best food in Toronto. Great portion and amazing price.
Great food
Very good
To be honest, even one start is too much for this restaurant, lets start with the water and the food, the water was not CLEAN as used to be, Second, i think the owner of the restaurant was serving us that why she was showing some bad acts, maybe she was thinking that she doesnt have to show some respect for a customer or behaved toward as used to be because she is the owner of the restaurant. Without a doubt, she is a kid, like a baby kid.
Good food&service
Once Sora opened up on the Danforth, I refuse to return to any other Ethiopian restaurant. Sora is by far the BEST place to get Ethiopian food in Toronto! Their food is exceptional and unmatched, price is very reasonable for the portions, and their servers are beyond words. You must check it out to try the best authentic Ethiopian food in the city, you will not regret it!
This is the best Ethiopian food restaurant in Toronto. Their platter with two different meat and three veggie set is very affordable and incredibly delicious! I have taken all in my family there to try and all ages like it. If you dont like spicy or have children with you simply ask for a mild version and they will make it for you. Again! You must visit this place!
Poor service Nd disrespectful waiters
Good food and great service! Thanks Sora!
Best Ethiopian food in-town and courteous staff .
I felt like I was back home the food is so delicious.if your looking for an authentic Ethiopian food SORA is the place to be BLESS.
If I could give this place more stars I would! Amazing food, exceptional service, stunning decor.
Are up to a traditional food that is spicy and freshly brewed Ethiopian or Eritrea coffee, you are in a right place.
I love this place! The food is so flavorful & delicious, you get your money s worth. The staff is amazing. If ever in Toronto this is the place to be!!
Nice food test
The best Ethiopian food in town
Very good restaurant
Best Ethiopian Ive had in Toronto. I chose the veggie platter and its so flavorful. Ill be back!
BEST CHA CHA, SHIRO AND KITFO!!! Our waitress was also super nice!
I wish I could speak to the quality of the food, but I WAS REFUSED SERVICE. I entered and was not immediately greeted by the server, which I brushed off considering she seemed to be working alone and could have been having a bad day, etc. But, after crossing wordlessly in front of me three times, the Hi, she tossed over her shoulder seemed... dismissive. But that was nothing compared to the woman who looked me in my eyes and told me there was no dinner to be had! I assumed we were somehow misunderstanding each other so I repeated my Table for one, please, request. She tossed me a menu and when I indicated that I wanted to stay and eat -as opposed to take-out(?)- she told me No. I said, So you all arent serving dinner right now? Dinner? I just want to eat. She kept mumbling something I couldnt hear, but very clearly articulated that dinner was not an option for me. I am still incredulous. But, I went across the street to Wazema and had a lovely meal. So, I dont know on exactly which basis Sora discriminates -Im a queer black American woman- but dont go in there expecting to dine (even if theyre open, and other people are dining), because you simply may not be served. #jimcrow
My experience in sora ethiopian restaurant was awesome the take out and dine and how they serve u regarding time and 5star service so i prefer every body should try this beautiful ethiopian restaurant
When i go to sora restaurant the food i eat , its like back at home. Very beautiful and tasty food. Keep it up.
