Sunnyside Pavilion Cafe in Toronto

I spent many summer days on this patio this past summer and sought out Nomiki. This is one of the very few patios in Toronto with outstanding views and a great casual vibe. Nomiki provided the most outstanding service I ve had in a long time. She s personable, and offers great energy and conversation while serving guests. I grew to really adore her! Hope to see her next year!

I was here the day of the air show, the waitress was extremely friendly, I ordered a burger which was quite large and accompanied with potatoes, I recommend the pineapple smoothie, it is delicious, I will definitely return to this place

What a shame to have such a beautiful location and not care at all about food or service. I had a bite of a clearly defrosted and then burnt pizza and when I tried to give feedback, I was told I was no longer welcome there. Our bill was $80 and although the pizzas (there were 2, both horrid) were not itemized it seems outrageous that the 2 beers and 2 shots we had came to that. No one even tried to be helpful, they actually just argued very aggressively. if I could give negative stars i would. Ghastly food with ghastlier service

Really nice place to sit by Sunnyside Beach on the boardwalk. they oddly didn t have any red wine when I was there.

This restaurant does not have any gluten-free options. The waitress isn t very educated. Also, the other issue with this place is everything is frozen. Their hamburgers are frozen and not handmade. The location is great, but unfortunately, this restaurant is horrible.. will Not go back

Came here with my mom after a long walk along the lakeshore to cool off. My mom is vegetarian so we had the strawberry pecan salad and the Mediterranean flatbread. Food is surprisingly good, but overpriced. The umbrellas dont turn or bend so if you need shade make sure to sit in the back of the restaurant. Our server Lauren was great. Really appreciated her helping us move to a shadier spot when it got too hot and for recommending the Mwxican bulldog cocktail. Definitely will come back for another one of those!

Honestly very impressed. Came for the frozen cocktails (Miami Vices, anyone?), stayed for the service, wowed by the food! Shared the Caribbean Flatbread and the Summer Salad w/ Chicken, equally impressed by both and SHOCKINGLY well cooked and seasoned chicken on the salad.

Pay more, get less? No thanks. A friend and I dropped by here yesterday for lunch, based on positive past experiences. While the patio still had the chill vibe with comfy chairs and the service was amazing, unfortunately thats as good as it gets, and this is due to very disappointing menu changes. We discovered that the portion sizes had been severely reduced, while the prices had increased considerably, across the board. An order of calamari served on what was essentially a side plate, in terms of proportions, cost just under $20. So-called upgrades were not cheap, either. If you want to switch out fries for a basic garden salad, expect to pay almost $5 for the privilege. Its bad enough to encounter shrinkflation at the grocery store, especially in todays economy, and now its happening here, too. Needless to say, we left feeling hungry and dissatisfied, and unless this restaurant makes the decision to produce good value for your money, the way it used to for so many years past, we just wont be back.

It s 7.15 and online shows they will close at 8 p.m . Not even allowed us to buy a beer for takeout saying they are closed.

My wife and I were passing by Sunnyside Café recently. Shes seven months pregnant and urgently needed to use the restroom. We were shocked and disappointed when the staff refused to let her use the restroom, stating it was only for customers. This lack of basic compassion and understanding is unacceptable. We could have been potential customers, but after this experience, we wont be returning and cant recommend this place to anyone. Treat people with more kindness and empathy, Sunnyside Café.

The location is fantastic. The food is not bad. But the staff always seems to be overworked. They need more servers here. The food isn t that cheap but it s a bit of a monopoly here. Not a lot of other options around. It s probably not the kind of place I would frequent, but it s enjoyable once in a while. Parking: Free parking only during weekdays office hours.

a calm, peaceful place

Very very slow service waited for ages for our order to be taken and for the food to arrive as well. Dogs are not allowed even to a patio, had to keep our dog with us but outside the fence. Atmosphere and location is amazing though!

The server Tegan was incredible. She got the order right, the food was pricey but delicious and good portions too.

The new manager was very unprofessional when I wanted to give him feedback and walked away without showing any interest in what I have to say he also made unprofessional comments to the staff in my presence making the atmosphere and environment very unpleasant and charged with negative energy None of my family and friends from the neighborhood are interested to visit this place again It used to be friendly professional inviting with lots of fun plants ,green palm trees decor and plants now it looks like a dumpster with no life or ambiance

Went here after a long day at the beach, the host at the pavilion cafe was disorganized and lacklustre. They had no proper reservation system , didn t take phone numbers or names instead had a specialized system and said they would call us after 20 minutes. Checked back in after 20 minutes and he wouldn t let us because according to him we had to stand in front in wait? No clear instructions given and it felt like he had no idea how to do a job.

Cute patio with amazing views of the water. Food was pretty good and service was excellent.

Do not order Caesars they don t know how to make them. I paid $45.20 for 2 double Caesar s and they were horrible. We got a cup full of ice with a splash of Clamato and some booze with barely any rim. The Caesar s didn t have any Worcestershire, horseradish, Tabasco, salt, pepper. It should be a crime to serve terrible Caesar s on a patio in Canada.

Host was rude and server was dismissive

Almost over the sand. Very nice people attending the tables. The prices are affordable. Very nice atmosphere. Its such a lovely place to eat and drink with a special one.

Nice place to sit down and relax watch the beach and does waterfront and forget about any stress

Went by today as the pavilion said it was opened online, only to find it closed. It s a shame as it s sunny and 23 degrees and we drove all the way here to have a nice bite to eat. Please update your hours of operation should you decide to not open your restaurant as it can confuse people like myself.

Hidden gem

We have gone to this place for lunch, dinner and drinks. Excellent outdoor patio on the beach. The menu is reasonably priced, good selection of mixed drinks and Canadian food, wings pizza, burgers. One of the best restaurant along the lake. The bike path is in front of the restaurant along with the volleyball courts. We have kayaked to this place in the summer. I would recommend trying. Parking: Lots of Green P parking. Great place to walk or bike to.

Nice to sit here, you have the feeling that you are sitting on a beach. Nice terrace and nice to eat an ice cream or a waffle

This place is nothing like it used to be. Before, I was able to order a burger and fries for a fair price. The food was great and the fries were some of the best in Toronto. The prices were raised crazily and the food quality dropped significantly over the years.

It s a nice patio on the beach but the food & drinks are super mediocre, there s not many options for food & service isn t great. Also they are not dog friendly even tho their patio is right on the beach. The only good thing about it is that it s on the beach, lol.

Called to get information on a corporate event but the voicemail says theyre open and dont take reservations. That was it, then the call hangs up immediately and theres no option to talk to anyone. Its too bad, looks like it would have been a nice place.

The strawberry salad is so delicious

Good place! We found out its not that common to find a nice beach cafe/restaurant in the area. We just went for a drink. The ice coffee could have been a bit stronger, but was ok. Appreciated this spot a lot, mostly because of the nice view at the beach, people walking by and because its a nice stop if you are going for a bike ride or hike along the water.

Nice outdoor place to eat near the humber bay park. Interesting drinks and very tasty pizza. I suggest to try the upside down beer drink in the photo.

This place never seems to open on time. We went at 11:10am today and were told they wouldn t finish setting up until closer to 12. Such a wasted opportunity in a prime location

I have lunch few times every summer as it s my favourite spot and first thing comes to mind when weather gets better love the strawberry salad with grilled chicken.

Need to update your hours. Just came on a Monday at 6pm and the place was closed.

A little gem of a cafe, in fact its more than a cafe with an extensive menu serving full meals and drinks. The location alone is worth the visit, Im only sorry Im not a Toronto resident so cant take advantage of this lovely place. Best chicken caesar salad in Toronto, in my opinion, with reasonable prices.

Does the job it needs to do. Nice for a summer time pint on the water.

Sunnyside Cafe a summer must visit. Good, service and view the best. Try the Mexican bulldog drink. Yummy. Parking: Monday to Friday parking is free until 5pm. Parking located on the east side of Sunnyside pool on Lakeshore Blvd. Paid parking after 5pm and on weekends. About a 5 to 7 minute walk to the cafe from the parking lot.

Machine is a little suspicious as I selected 18% but it added 20%. Total $13.56 but it added $2.71 instead of $2.44

I love the atmosphere, perfect location however our food was burnt (it didn t taste bad) and they don t do pitchers :( but the service was good!

The service was not good. The attendant didnt offer or explained anything about the order. They cleaned out table with a smelly piece of cloth, splashing us in the meantime. They didnt dry the table properly. We have to ask for tea cup to be changed twice, as it was dirty with pink lipstick. The pottery was old. It wasnt worth the money spent. The place has a very nice view.

Pizza was yummy. Drinks were great! Friendly and tentative service. Hope to be back!

Great view and decent service. When asking questions about drinks, they dont have much knowledge and zero gluten-free options (according to our server), aside from salad. Dietary restrictions: Cant accommodate

My girls came across this little hideaway over the weekend and we had a wonderful lunch. Enjoyed the food the scenery the staff and the atmosphere. Great way to spend a summers afternoon

The owner has a horrible attitude. Did not help a bystander when they had fainted and did not provide and food or water even though the bystander was willing to pay. Owner simply said we are closed, while he kitchen was still open. WORST, will never waste money here or rent their hall upstairs!

What makes this place worth the trip is the lovely view you get when you eat! During the Summer, it feels like you are transported to California with the beach views, and the all the outdoor activity that surrounds the place. Although the food is average, the service has always been amazing. Highly recommend for the beachy enjoyable experience!

Great location, good food. A simple menu but I have always enjoyed its food and sizeable, comfortable patio. The service is generally good depending on who is on duty. Management needs to be on top of whom they are putting on host/hostess duty, the young lady on Canada day looked miserable and had no business being at the front of the house.

Good food! We had the Calamari, the BBQ Ribs, the fish and chips, and the pepperoni pizza. Great place to chill out in the summertime.

Not good food. We came here because of the great reviews but were completely disappointed at the quality. Everything we ate tasted like it has been frozen. Especially for the price, it is ludicrous that the quality was so low. We struggled to complain to the waiter about it because its not her fault, or even the kitchens fault. Management needs to step their game up.

A wonderful place to sip a hot cup of coffee or chocolate and watch the world go by, at this Ontario Lake Shore historic Cafe. Menu items are little pricey but the food is tasty and the service is impeccable. Definitely will visit again. However, though they claim that the Cafe is open 7 days a week, 11 am to 9 pm, it actually stays closed very often ( I have seen this on my walks there) so it is better to call and then go.

The food is absolutely not worth the price. The pizza and calamari taste like they have been frozen. Given the prices, youd expect a lot more and its not worth it at all.

I had a great experience at the Sunnyside Pavilion. I had the seafood pizza for dinner and a Pina Colada it was 10/10. My server Tegan made the experience even better and look forward to coming back.

The pina coladas were delicious and the fries were AMAZING!! They were incredibly well seasoned, didn t even need ketchup

Lakeside views, shaded seating. Service was great, menu was reasonable and tasty. Chips were excellent - perfectly cooked and seasoned. Can recommend the Southwest Burger, although would have liked a chicken Burger option

This place is Torontos hidden paradise. If you know, you know. There is beach, lake, sand, pool, showers and most importantly, GREAT VIBES!!!

Ive been here to see a couple of DJs doing their sets pretty amazing place beautiful in the evening all lit up with their beautiful lights especially outside on the inside outside if that makes any sense its beautiful :-)

The restaurant has a delightful view to the lake, and is located in a gorgeous historical building, its patio is huge and doesnt feel crowed at all . Friendly staff and good food! Highly recommend it!

Sitting with an awesome beach view

Location is amazing, outstanding Lakeview. The service was great and the food also good. Some improvement suggestions: 1. More draught beer options (no IPA at all) 2. More fries on the Fish & Chips (way more)

I visited over the weekend and I received very poor customer service. I have been coming here since I was a toddler. Our waiter did not check in with us about your ur food, water or condiments. He gave us attitude asking us for water. Also, instead of seeing what he could do to accommodate my friend he told her we cannot do any of that and rolled his eyes. To be honest his poor energy and attitude ruined our time. When the bill came he said he could not divide the bill and we have to do it ourselves. He didnt offer to help us. At the end we said thank you and he coldly walked away. I got an awful stomach ache from the food. I will sadly rethink about visiting again. One of the worst experiences

Nice view, poor poor service. I ordered a drink and it was unbelievably watered down mojito. I told the server who questioned me beyond belief making me very uncomfortable. You should just believe your customers why do i have to prove it to you. I asked for a replacement drink and the server kind of mocked me by saying well you know this kind of drink will definitely taste watered down. Again invalidating my original complaint.the replacement drink came and tastes like there was no alcohol in it, i have noticed another reviewer say that as well. I refrained from saying anything to our server. Once the bill came the watered down drink where i had one Sip of was on the it i asked to confirm with the server and she just responded by saying yup it is. I had to press her to connect with her supervisor. Finally was taken off the bill after push back. The server then started being nicer as i had the machine for the bill in my hands i still tipped but i will never be coming back. Such a shame for such a prime location. DO NOT COME HERE there are better places in Toronto

The food was ok but the customer service was terrible!!! Server Melissa had total attitude when we asked if there was any alcohol in the drink as it tasted water downed and no taste of alcohol whatsoever. She took the drink away with attitude shaking her head all the way back. She came back with the drink and said yes there is alcohol in it. So we chanted drinks. We complained to the manager and she then brought us our change and through the folder with change on the table. So disrespectful and will never go there again. I ve been going there for 20 years! Don t waste your time going! It seems like even the manger didn t really care!

Food was so good! I had a beef brisket sourdough sandwich with horseradish sauce. It was excellent and the fries were the best Ive had in a long time.

Excellent facilities, but the kids running the place seem to be on some sort of power trip. They lack manners, and should get some manner training along side their life guard training. It s the closest to where I live but I chose to go elsewhere to avoid clashing with these immature kids.

Great service, everyone was so friendly and efficient. Only a few minutes wait for the patio, inside would have been cooler, and the garden inside is beautiful. Theres a secret back patio Ill try next time. Great food, will definitely be back, very reasonable prices also.

A very happy place to while away an hour or two when youre walking the boardwalk or cycling the trail. Youre there for the draft beer, sun, the lake, the beach, and occasionally the beach volleyball, so you dont really need good food besides. But they give it to you anyway. Very laid back.

everything was perfect with them until somebody got idea to install volleyball playgrounds on sand next to it, It is just to dusty to eat or drink there.

Excellent location to enjoy with fun drinks. Can t go wrong being right on the sand with stretched views of the Lake. We had a pizza and it was not the greatest. For a wood fire oven pizza one looks forward to the fresh charred dough and if you end up getting the manufacturer s chewy pre-made crust it s quite disappointing especially when you pay $24. For kids it s a great treat and the toppings were actually very good. Pls consider changing the dough. We dint order any other food that s why the 4 star. Other dishes looked great would like to go back and try. :)

Average beach cafe but great location and views, could be amazing with improvements. Disappointed Some Staff in kitchen area don t wear masks. Several people including the expo/ dish prep girl standing over prepared plates without masks handling food. The food was good - had the beef brisket sandwich and the fish and chips and liked both and would recommend if you visit this place. To the owner: The beach-facing patio can be so much better if the owner just invested some time and money to clean it up, get the spider webs off the table, get some music on the patio and get some more quality/sophisticated food. It would be a massive hit. Perhaps a glass fence vs metal railings to not disturb the views too. Also, the menu online and the menu in restaurant don t match as the restaurant version is missing lots of options shown online.

Biked from Brampton through to High Park and stopped at the Pavilion afterwards. So lovely to have a beer on the Lakeshore. We got a beef brisket sandwich with a side of fries (approx $20 each). Our server was great and the food came quick! Keep up the great work.

I ve been going all summer and it s been great however my last experience with the rudest waitress!!! So much attitude!!!! We actually left before the food came :/

Love this place

Went here after a long bike ride was seated after 10 minutes. Patio is spaced out and the staff were very quick and polite. We had the Mediterranean flatbread and roast beef sandwich, both were great! This place is right on the boardwalk off the beach.

Seafood pizza - amazing! Ribs - amazing! Pina colada and Mexican Bulldog - awesome! One of the best places I ve eaten and had a drink from in Toronto. The ambiance is great too, it s right by the beach where you can enjoy the view and some sunshine. Only sad I discovered this place by the end of summer.

The best pasta I had in Toronto was at this place. Weird I know but it was so satisfying! That too a vegetarian pasta! Delicious. Nice view as well. Tried to give me a half a glass of prosecco, but when i questioned them, they stated the bartender had walked away and the server thought the drink was ready, so they did top it up. However, taking one star off for that. Def recommend!

This was alright. It is beautiful venue and the service was good but the glasses they served drinks in and the tables were a bit too ghetto for my taste.

Good family hot cold fast summer food for my Gkids and their mother from Nana (me).

I came here on a date with my bf and it was perfect, we had a view by the beach which overlooked the citys skyline from another side. They had a very romantic vibe to the place. I would recommend coming here in the summer because when we went a little too late in September and it was really breezy. Their burger patties were phenomenal and their shrimp and linguini pasta was one of the best tomato sauce based pastas I had in a while. I paired it with a mango daiquiri and it was just a vibe to sip it by the beach. We hadnt had the chance to look into their dessert menus but they had some interesting desserts which we would try next time.

Came here with my best friend, she got the Caesar salad and I got the calamari. We both got pina coladas. Food was top quality! And it was right on of the beach so the view was great.
