Tea lounge specializing in afternoon tea and tea cuisine.
The staff were incredibly accommodating to our needs as first time parents and went the extra mile while they had a packed house. The food was amazing as usual. Thanks again for making our special day extra special!
Nice high tea place. Every sandwich was distinct and no repeats, pretty tasty. Scones were luke warm but acceptable, not dry or stale. I was going to say the service was good, and that the server offered to explain the items and refill our pots. But the afternoon set was supposed to come with a flute of sparkling tea according to the printed menu and we never received it! I only realized it at home afterwards. Not sure if the menu was outdated.
We recently had Afternoon Tea for two people at T-Buds. The sandwiches were not great. But the best bite was the mushroom puff pastry. Scones were just fine (no proper clotted cream here for the scones sadly). Sweets were shared between two guests and very small. This venue is small and hot in the summer. There are A LOT of tea options here so maybe go to enjoy a cup of tea!
Super cute and delicious afternoon tea. Amazing tea selection, scones with cream and jam were to die for! Very friendly staff and a small cozy space. Great place to have a quiet relaxing afternoon tea that is surprisingly very filling as well!
Went for the mothers day brunch. The 'hot' foods were not quite warm. The scones were hard, the bread did not taste too fresh, and the quiches were a bit too salty for me. The macarons are too sugary, and no flavour I could discern. The dessert was too sweet for us, with the caramel flavored cheesecake, with caramel pieces on top and caramel sauce beside it along with candied pear, would be nicer if there was a pop of tartness. Service was a bit slow, not all tables were filled, but they might still be understaffed, we asked for a take out container 3-4 times before we got it. They were friendly, but not very attentive. We tried another high tea place the next day and my mother preferred that one. Don't think we will be returning unfortunately.
Alli (I'm not certain of the spelling, sorry!), was absolutely amazing with his knowledge of tea. Who knew that certain teas were good for making meat rubs and gravy??? I won't say which - you have to go in, have a cup or three of tea, and be pleasant ☺ The servers were all very courteous, polite, and watchful without being annoying. They knew all the food offerings and ingredients, and were very patient with my group as we tried to figure out substitutions and such. Our fault for not calling ahead to ask. The service was impeccable, and appropriately timed. The food and tea are made as you order, so it isn't instant. The tea is steeped for the appropriate time (if you prefer a lighter or heavier brew, tell the server when you order! They will change the brewing time as needed). The lounge is small, so the atmosphere really depends on who else is there. A large birthday group = very lively and loud. Mostly couples = quiet and more intimate. You do have to do up a set of stairs to reach t-buds, and there isn't an elevator or lift option. It's Toronto so parking can be a pain in the tush, but there is paid street parking all around that area. My group went on a Sunday, and parking was easy and close. No idea if there's free WiFi, but it's a tea lounge. Enjoying the tea, food, and company is the goal. I'm very impressed by everything t-buds offered, and will definitely be back! Thank you Alli for chatting with us and sharing your tea knowledge. It really was an amazing experience. ☺
My friends and I have been going here for almost 2 years now, it’s a lovely place for halal afternoon tea :) I really enjoy their afternoon tea service, the sandwiches are amazing and have a lot of flavour. My favourites are the chicken mango chutney tea sandwich, the eggplant tea sandwich, the quiche, and the mushroom pastry. We prefer black teas, and our favourites are the Ceylon mountain valley and the Ceylon spring valley. The atmosphere is lovely, they have a great tea selection, and the staff are very friendly. The scones are very delicious- they’re sweet and buttery. I think we have been here about 20-25 times in total, never really had any bad experiences, just positive vibes :) I’ve been to a lot of afternoon tea places including the ones at big hotels to more indie shops, but t-buds is still my favourite, and the prices are extremely fair ($40-50 per person) and much more worth it and more delicious compared to the hotel afternoon tea places (which are priced at about $80-100 per person) :) anyway a great place for halal afternoon tea in a warm and cozy atmosphere!!!
Visited for the afternoon tea experience. Prices are affordable and service was friendly, albeit being a bit absent. All of the savoury items, the teas and the scones were delicious, even if the sandwich breads were a bit on the dry side. The sweet items such as the cakes and macarons were fair.
Polite, friendly service. Tasty food. Clean store. Will happily return. Vegetarian options: Available with prior arrangement. Parking: I parked a few hundred metres away and walked.
Everything was delicious. And the staff was very nice. The price was affordable
I was very excited to book this as an afternoon tea with my partner, however, it was quite disappointing. There were many, perhaps too many, tea choices, I think about 75+. The food menu was very confusing, as you book different meals of food at once, its not an a la carte menu. So there was no choice in what was served, except for dietary restrictions. There was a large quantity of food, but only the scones were good, with a mascarpone/whipped cream mixture to spread. The layout was quite strange, and where we were seated you had to ask 2 tables to move to get out. Because of this, our server did not return after giving the plates of food, so there was no opportunity to order anything else or get a tea refill. With tip, it was $75 per person, which you would expect from a place with better service and food quality Kid-friendliness: This location is not kid friendly, with no high chairs or kids menu Wheelchair accessibility: A very narrow set of stairs, and not enough floor space when tables were full, means that even a cane user would find this location inhospitable.
I took my sister there for a special occasion and was a little disappointed in our second visit. The first time I was impressed but not so much yesterday. After our appetizer of chick pea salad and a tart, my plate was never removed even after I said I was done. So I ate the entire afternoon tea off this tiny little plate. I thought it was a bit ridiculous, so I just brushed the crumbs off onto my saucer. Also, we only got a small pot of tea between two people which is not enough and when we asked for the pot to be refilled. The girl went in the room and continued to chat to her other colleague instead of tending to her customers, which was also very rude. She only came back after a long time and by then we just wanted to leave. Also they never checked to see if we would like anything else in between courses. This tea was not cheap, I paid close to $105 for two of us. It just makes it way to high for poor service. I will not be returning to T-buds in the future.
Food: 3 Stars Service: 3 Stars Ambience: 4 Stars Value: 3.5 Stars Overall: 3.4 Stars Walking into T-Buds, I was immediately struck by the warm and inviting ambiance of the tearoom. The decor is reminiscent of a traditional English tea house, with soft lighting, elegant floral arrangements, and comfortable seating. The tearoom is small and intimate, making it ideal for a small party or an intimate gathering with friends. To begin with, one of the highlights of the high tea experience at T-Buds is the pot of tea that comes with the tea service you choose from the menu. As a tea enthusiast, I was thrilled to see the wide variety of teas available to choose from, each with its unique flavors and characteristics. From classic black teas to aromatic green teas, fragrant floral teas to soothing herbal infusions, T-Buds has something to suit every palate. I opted for the Organic Tie Kwan Yin buds tea, a classic oolong tea literally translated as iron goddess of mercy . it has a sweet, floral aroma and a light, smooth, delicate flavour. The tea leaves were of high quality, resulting in a perfectly brewed cup of tea that was aromatic and satisfying. However, one of the best things about T-Buds is that it offers an affordable high tea experience. Unlike some other high tea places that can break the bank, T-Buds offers a reasonably priced menu without compromising on quality. The high tea menu is priced competitively, making it accessible to a wider range of tea lovers. This is definitely a big plus for those who want to enjoy a high tea experience without emptying their pockets. The service at T-Buds was friendly and attentive, though there were a few minor hiccups. The teas were brewed to perfection and served at the right temperature. However, there were a few delays in getting our food, and we had to remind the server a couple of times. Nevertheless, the overall service was satisfactory, and it did not significantly impact our overall experience. The taste of the food at T-Buds was enjoyable, though not outstanding. I ordered the Chocolate Afternoon Tea. The finger sandwiches were fresh and flavourful, with classic fillings such as cucumber and smoked salmon. The scones were warm and crumbly, and the clotted cream and jam were a delicious accompaniment. The pastries were well-presented, but I felt that they lacked the wow factor in terms of taste. They were pleasant, but not particularly memorable. I would have liked to see more creativity and innovation in the flavour combinations and presentation of the pastries to elevate the overall dining experience. My overall experience at T-Buds with my friends was pleasant and enjoyable. The cozy and inviting atmosphere, extensive tea menu, and affordable prices were definite highlights. The service was friendly, though there were some minor delays in getting our food. The taste of the food was enjoyable, though not particularly memorable, and I would have liked to see more creativity in the flavours and presentation of the pastries. The variety of options and accommodation of special dietary needs were commendable, though there could be more diverse options for those with specific dietary restrictions. Despite these minor areas for improvement, T-Buds offers a charming and affordable high tea experience that is worth considering for tea lovers who are looking for a cozy and intimate setting to enjoy tea with friends. kellychan360
Enjoyed afternoon tea with my husband. Tea host(s) were very friendly and obliging. Hosts were knowledgeable and accommodating of our dietary requests (veg & pescetarian), and requests were seamlessly accommodated. When our food arrived, our order was correct. Service was paced appropriately for afternoon tea service (remember folks, this is afternoon tea, a ritual/experience, not a Tim Hortons drive-through). Food was good. Tea was good. Atmosphere was comfortable smart casual. We both really enjoyed it, and we both agreed, we must make it a more regular habit. Vegetarian options: There are plenty of tasty vegetarian options. Tea sandwiches can be selected per preferences. Most all other items served with the afternoon tea are vegetarian friendly.
Food is good, but tea is extremely subpar.
Absolutely delicious. Highly recommend. Mini cottage pie and the pavlova were my favourites. Much better value that pricy hotels downtown. Also very friendly and helpful staff who gave me samples of tea
Ordered from T-Buds for a baby shower. The food was fantastic and delivery was prompt. Staff were responsive and easy to work with. Thank you!
This is a superb tea experience! The customer service is excellent and the food is delicious. The owner is a tea sommelier and the teas are proof of his expertise. We are coming back!
Cozy little tea lounge, bright decor and delicious treats. I had the Tea Tiffin and it was a lot of food, almost too much for one person! The little sandwiches were amazing. I had Earl Grey tea and it was like no tea Ive had before - maybe due to their multi-filtered water. Would come here again.
Great service!! It s quiet and relaxing place. This is my second time here. The server even gave us another pot of hot water, so we can fill our own tea pot. My first time here, I love it, that s why I m back. First time I ordered the chocolate afternoon tea set, food was better, savoury pie and sandwiches were so good, this time I got savoury cream tea, I think the sandwich s are pretty good, but alittle drier than I remember. But still yummy. I think I want to give 4.5 stars.
I wanted to love the afternoon tea experience more, though the service soured the whole experience. The layout of the restaurant makes it challenging to support any significant number of tables, which seemed to be too challenging for the staff of two servers to stop by the corner table often enough to check in. The dining experience felt cramped, like a crowded picnic with no ability to hold a personal conversation. The staircase to access the restaurant on the second story seemed to be a challenge to navigate. The tea selection seemed very immense, though more description on the tea varieties would have been helpful, such as comparable selections or pairing suggestions. The selection of foods for the afternoon tea stack were mostly good, with the scones and mascarpone being a great highlight and the petit fours and vegetarian options disappointing. The sparkling tea was embarrassingly bad. The price for two for the afternoon tea service was around $140, which was much too high for the quality and service that was had. Dietary restrictions: Allergies and considerations were asked upfront without prompting, with assurances of no issues noted. Wheelchair accessibility: A staircase limits second storey access, and the seating arrangement challenges space for mobility.
Great tea. I cant recommend them for anything else though
We have picked up two high tea boxes for Christmas (Holiday & Classic) and everything was delicious!--sandwiches, scones, petit fours, etc. The oolong milk tea was amazing (best tea weve ever had), and we will definitely come back for more!
Got a wide variety of tea, good for tea lover. Tea set was 90% sandwich, not worth the money.
Very calm and cozy place to invite friends meet here for a close chatting. The scone is amazing, I will rate the scone 5 plus stars! The tea is as good as I imagine, I tased the black tea from the owner s homeland Sri Lanka, it was collected from high mountain. It is very authentic afternoon tea place to taste tea and some tea pastries and enjoy the peaceful environment. I strongly recommend!
What a find! A fabulous selection of teas carefully chosen by the proprietor, who travels to Sri Lanka and other tea growing locations to source excellent unique teas. Wonderful scones (we took two extra boxes home) and perfect tea service. Wheelchair accessibility: Sadly, it is on the second floor with only stairs for access.
Attended on a Sunday afternoon with a party of six. Each of us ordered the classic afternoon tea. Sandwich assortments were strange. Two individuals shared a tower for a total of 3 towers at our table. Each tower was varied despite us all ordering the same thing, it was not consistent. The sandwiches themselves were noticeably stale. Several in our party did not finish. Service was definitely an issue. Our server did not check in on us, never asked how the food was, or if we needed anything. After we left we realized we were not even served the sparkling tea that came with our service. This was something we were looking forward to as a group, but the food and service was so disappointing that we genuinely forgot and left. The server made no mention of any remaining course. Would love to give this service another shot, but it honestly wasn t a great vibe.
Lovely tea place! This setting brings afternoon tea to a more casual and homey setting. The price is much more reasonable ( ~$38 per person) than most high tea places. The food is good and there are many nice tea options. The sparkling tea was a nice touch to the classic afternoon tea. The place does seem slightly understaffed, so its best to request a pot of hot water upfront to ensure you all dont run out of tea. We also didnt have time with the waitress to ask what each sandwich was (but we deduced 1. Sundried tomato and cheese, 2. Lox/ smoked salmon 3. Chicken 4. Lamb (or eggplant if veggie) 5. Egg 6. Cucumber. There were different desserts for each person which included a fruit tart, a chocolate bonbon and a lemon tart. Overall a pleasant experience for someones special day. Vegetarian options: They were able to substitute the beef sandwich with an eggplant one. Parking: There is free street parking 4 blocks away.
A quaint, mostly-hidden gem on Yonge street offering affordable afternoon tea. I visited on a Sunday afternoon right when it opened at 12pm. On the second floor of an uptown shop is T-Buds. They have a lengthy tea menu and some great options for afternoon tea. I chose the Tea Tiffin option which came with six small sandwich triangles (good!), a mini quiche (okay), two scones with clotted cream and jam (excellent!), and a macaron. Really good value compared to what other high/afternoon tea menus will cost you in Toronto.
A Beautiful quiet place to have a lovely cream tea with a friend! Amazing to look at an entire menu of different teas to choose from. A very talk set of stairs to get up to tea shop make this not accessible for mobility challenged individuals. Food
We have tried the t-buds for the first time and it was a marvelous experience. The food was well made and exquisite. My favourite of the day was the mushroom pastry. We had the puerh cocoa caramel tea which was mind blowing. We are definitely coming back.
I went only for the Cream Tea as I was missing a bit of Britain. The scones were fresh, light and really delicious. The jam tasted homemade, also very good. My only ask would be to have real Devon cream to make the experience 100%. They do make their own crème fraiche which went very well with the afternoon tea. I had Earl Grey tea which was also wonderful. It also came with a little macaron, exquisite!! Very reasonably priced.
love the big cup of coffe everything soooo good
Got the classic tea service, it was wonderful. I think the best thing about t buds is that it is consistently good food and excellent service.
The chocolate high tea was lovely. Staff were very knowledgeable and made good tea recommendations Dietary restrictions: Staff asked if there was any restrictions when taking our order
Had the chocolate afternoon tea and it was great. The finger sandwiches were good and I loved how chocolatey the scone was. The mushroom pastry, mole empanada, and another savoury appetizer (forgot the name but it was a flower shaped puff pastry with mole in it) was delicious. The chocolate desserts were yummy (especially that triple chocolate mouse cup), not too sweet other than namino bar. I appreciate how the desserts weren t all chocolate related like the macaroon as it gave a good break between the chocolate. The meal finished off sparkling tea which was a first for me. This is only my second high tea so I can t speak of authenticity but I quite enjoyed the meal. It was a really reasonably priced and we left quite full. The waitress was very sweet and gave us tips and recommendations on how to enjoy our tea. They have a huge tea list too. Would love to try their other teas and scones if I am ever in the area again.
One of the best high teas in Toronto. Very delicious and worth the experience. The food was fresh. Our server was sweet and patient. For teas- we tried emperor and the other was province - both were exceptionally good. One tea has almost 3 helpings (cups). The pasties were decent (only the lemon tart was a bit off). The jams and scones were fresh! Their sparkling tea was different and delicious. Unfortunately they don t sell this separately. We tried both the chocolate and afternoon tea and recommend both (probably the afternoon one if you don t have a big appetite or don t like too much chocolate). Bonus they accommodate vegetarians 5/5 for the service, ambience and the food
beautiful
Absolutely loved this experience! Quick tip: I would suggest getting the tea tiffin and adding something chocolatey like cake. Its a bit more affordable and you still get tea, pastries, and sandwiches. But by all means if you want the full experience you can splurge and get the afternoon tea package. My friend and I came here on a Saturday afternoon and splurged and got the Chocolate Tea experience. Everything was so lovely but I have to be honest I got full quite quickly and didnt end up finishing a lot. The tea I ordered was a Mint one from the oolong side. It was so wonderfully steeped and delicious. The sparking tea was also quite cute. I would definitely reccomend this to anyone who wants a fancy time with their friends! Dietary restrictions: They asked for any dietary restrictions ahead of ordering Parking: There was a lot of parking on the side of the streets available on the weekend. They are green P paid and about $3/hour Kid-friendliness: Super cute and sweet space
Visited today. Highly recommend. Very yummy savoury food, hot tea and sparkling tea, all the way to desserts. Would go back! Our server was really nice as well. So thank you!
Its pleasant place to have a get together, staff were really sweet. The scones were delish with jam. Plenty of tea options
Delightful little place on Yonge Street near Lawrence Ave W. I would not recommend for those with mobility concerns as there are steep stairs to climb to get to the cozy tearoom. The soft jazz music playing in the background helped to create a relaxing atmosphere. Mom had the Spa Salad consisting of arugula, feta, and berries. The classic tea tray had an assortment of tasty sandwiches. If you dont have a sweet tooth, the preserve jam and the macaroons are sweet. Loved the selection of teas.
Cute and quaint place. A lovely place for high tea, but looking for parking on Yonge Street or the area can be challenging.
What a lovely find!! Took my Mom and friend for Moms high tea bday. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. Prices were great. The service was wonderful and they even brought mom a special birthday scone with sparkling tea for all of us. The staff were so kind and we will definitely return.
Have been wanting to try this cute little place for forever. Since Id be in the vicinity today, I ordered the Afternoon Teabox a couple of days in advance (to go) which included 6 mini sandwiches, 2 scones with preserves, 2 petit four, small fruit cup, mini quiche, and the most delicious mango pineapple tea. From placing the order, to communicating the time of pick up and preference of payment everything went well. The server I interacted when i was picking up my order was extremely pleasant, and when I asked for a takeout cup of hot water for the tea she didnt hesitate and got it for me very fast. When I got to my destination, I opened up my lovely prepared box and indulged. Value was well worth it, and would love to come back another time and dine in. Vegetarian options: Assortment of vegetarian sandwiches, quiche.
Lovely quaint place makes you feel like you are in the U.K! Dietary restrictions: Had halal options Food : 5/5 |
Quaint tea shop on 2nd floor. Warm atmosphere where one can sip tea and savor time. Extensive tea menu with several options for high tea. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Wheelchair accessibility: Not wheelchair accessible 2nd floor with a flight of steps up.
This place has gone downhill in service and quality. I am so disappointed. I saw a Workperks and Groupon offer so I tried to give him a chance again. They refused to honour the offer! I tried to straighten it out with them and Workperks and they just plain refused. So disappointing because I used to like this place. Wont be back. Ever. Nor will I recommend this place to friends. Update: I see a response from the owner accusing this of being a false review. This certainly reflects their current attitude. Rather than try to resolve the issue, toxic comments are made. I did reach out to T-Buds by phone and my calls were not returned. I also worked through WorkPerks to resolve the situation. After a long period, I was told T-Buds was removed from the discount program.
Its slightly expensive for tea party but good service and food makes it all worth it!
Excellent tea collection. I loved their rooibos provence tea. Every single sandwich was insanely good. Also all their meat is halal!
My husband and I went here for the classic afternoon tea option. I contacted them ahead of time to ask if they accommodate a vegan diet and they said they can with 48 hours of notice. The food they made for us was incredible! We had 4 different kinds of finger sandwiches, scones and two different kinds of desert, it was very clear so much thought and effort had gone into preparing the vegan option and making it just as good and enjoyable. This will be my new regular tea spot. The staff was also wonderful. Highly recommend.
FOOD POISONING ALERT!!! 6 of our group of 7 adults got food poisoning after eating at T-Buds this past Sunday. 4 people, including our PREGNANT friend had extreme symtoms of aggressive vomiting and diarhhea. And 2 people had bad diarhhea. This is very dangerous and unacceptable! Do NOT eat here!!!!!! We all couldnt work for 3 days now, but most importantly the risk to my friend and her babys life is inexcusable!!!! I deeply regret going to this place and will never go here again.
Gluten free options were 5/5 but the vibe/space is veryyyy small and needs to be updated.
Very cute little place for a small party for high tea. The atmosphere was nice/relaxing. The tea menu is very extensive and the high tea menu also has lots of variety and best of all, it doesn t cost an arm and a leg! My friends and I enjoyed the taste of the food. + it s halal!! The service was good but the only reason I left one star off is because of the wait time for the food. We came for 3:30 appointment and I think we finally got our food around 5. I think the reason is because there didn t seem to be a lot of staff and there was one other party than us at the restaurant (we were only a group of 9 girls)
We took over the entire restaurant to host a Queen Elizabeth Platinum Jubilee High tea on June 2nd. The tables looked great with white linen tablecloths and maroon cloth napkins. The service was quick, and perfect. The food was really good. Best macaroon l have ever had. Many of our guests had never been there before, and vowed to come back with family and friends. That is the highest praise for a restaurant. I did not mention that the price is so reasonable for high tea. We will be returning.
Spoiled by Bridgerton and Downton Abbey, Some of us curious Desis wanted to try the experience of a Hi-tea and I totally get it now, this place served the best experience we could have. Regardless, the Indian in me will never understand the puzzle of pouring cold milk on to a cup of black tea. But thankfully they had Masala tea so that was a Plus.
Tea was amazing. Very impressed with the strength of the taste without it feeling over-steeped / bitter. 1 star less as food was average - good but not great. Id return for just the tea!
Good selection of teas Kid-friendliness: not for children 10 and under- mostly women and girls mid teens and up looking to sit with friends for light conversations. Wheelchair accessibility: Not Wheelchair accessible long narrow stairs to access this business
The sandwiches were awful. We left most of the food untouched. I will spend a few more dollars next time for tea at an upscale hotel or country B&B.
Im a huge fan of afternoon tea~ usually I love going for dine in service but sometimes I like to get it to go as well. Craving afternoon tea to go? t-buds have some amazing ready to go afternoon tea boxes that travel so well! They have a variety of sandwiches, scrone are pretty fluffy, macarons texture was on point and also loved the cream of Earl grey tea! You can order for same day or future pick up and they also deliver and can also cater for events as well!
Small space but lovely High Tea service. Reservation required.
The classic afternoon tea menu ($38) begins with a hot pot of tea selected from an extensive two-page listing. I stick with a traditional black tea that allows me to include a splash of oat milk into it without drowning out the tea flavours. If you re waiting on a guest, look through their tea descriptions. Someone poetic crafted them; such the description of how black Ceylon spring valley tea leaves are created through warm sunshine following tropical monsoons with cold nights . As the tea tower is prepared, a two-bite leek quiche and simple caprese salad tie us over. If you re the type of person who skips breakfast and lunch before heading to afternoon tea, you ll appreciate these pre-tea light bites. However, if you re like me and never skip a meal, I d forgo the microwave re-heated quiche to save room for Tbuds amazing scones. They have a lovely crispy crust that breaks easily to reveal a soft fluffy centre and aren t overly sweet so you can slather it with mascarpone cream and jam. Too bad they are so stingy with the condiments, providing enough for two scones at most. In fact, if anything we need more of the mascarpone cream as it s lighter and less buttery than traditional clotted cream. Their sandwiches each incorporates an herb and a creamy element. We loved them all: the egg salad is enhanced with a bit of chives, the cucumber sandwich is sliced paper thin and uses an herbed cream cheese, the curried chicken includes a refreshing chutney, and even the sun-dried tomato and cheddar combination surprisingly works. With six sandwiches to a person, it makes for a filling meal. The tower is capped off with fresh soft macarons that have a vibrant fruity flavour and luscious cream. The other petit fours a fruit tart and ultra-decadent salted chocolate square are less impressive but nonetheless decent.
I ordered a short notice catering for a work function. I wanted something unique and it was; however, in my opinion it was overpriced finger sandwiches. If you want to try this place I think you definitely need to go in person and experience the tea service or else it s quite expensive for funeral sandwiches but the mushroom hot pastries were incredible.
Great spot for high tea. They have an extensive tea menu and provide a wide variety of sandwiches and treats.
Possibly the most delicious scones in the city! A great hidden gem for afternoon tea, with unique and delicious tea options, creative finger foods, and very cozy chairs! The service was friendly and willing to accommodate my friend who couldnt eat bread/wheat (dietary restrictions). Also incredibly good value for money - affordable!
Always loved T-buds and try to spread the word of this treasured little tea boutique to everyone I know! Great selection of teas and their food and scones are out of this world as well. Most of all, love their team and owners, so kind and full of knowledge. Can t wait to re-visit for afternoon tea when covid is over, in the meantime, Ive placed online orders to stock up on teas and the process is very swift and quick for pick up. Thanks again!!
If you love traditional scones, you need to go to t-buds! Best scones I have had anywhere in the city!!
Just ordered ahead and picked up 8 Classic and Cream high teas to enjoy via Zoom with a group of friends. T-Buds could not have been more helpful in customizing individual orders. Each box was clearly marked and we all loved the delicious selection of sandwiches, quiche, scones and dessert items. Our chosen tea selection was put in a bag and added to the box. Great experience.
Picked up their Classic Afternoon Tea this weekend for a special occasion. The chicken and apple sandwiches and the quiche were very tasty. Hope to be able to visit once in-door dining is allowed and order those again.
Beyond the fact that the tea is amazing, the sandwiches are great, and the owners are knowledgeable and kind and perfect, here is what I love about t-buds: it s both a special occasion spot and a great spot to catch up with friends. I have had my university graduation party there but have also showed up on a random day with a hankering for scones.
Ordered the afternoon tea boxes for mothers day and it was a hit! Service was great!
Very nice spread for an afternoon tea. All the little details were great - from the fresh fruit, to the small tomato bocconcini salad. Sandwiches were excellent. Would have gone with 5 stars, but the scones were quite hard, so either stale or overcooked, not sure. Everything else was very good.
Absolutely worth it! Loved the cozy, homey yet elegant experience! The wide selection of sandwiches was delicious and the scones are a must! The employees are kind and courteous!
OK real talk tbuds is the only place Ive seen that actually takes social distancing seriously and I really respect that. They really spread out the dining area and I can tell that they are prioritizing everyones safety over revenue. Tea sandwiches are lit. Staff remembered that my homies are lolitas. Will be bringing the crew back. I love you guys and I hope a dog smiles at all the staff today.
My fave tea place!!! Always a great experience. Scones and sandwiches are amazing. My fabulous tea is the vanilla roobios!
Amazing tea and sandwiches and scones. Fit for a king or queen.
Lovely, intimate spot with delicious afternoon tea service and friendly and attentive staff! Great for dates and catching up with friends :)
This place is an absolute gem! Went a couple weeks ago for my birthday and we were warmly and promptly greeted and seated. Every person working there is a delight. Very friendly, knowledgeable, and funny. They did the absolute most to make me feel special on my birthday. The food was delicious and the presentation gorgeous. My mouth is watering just thinking about those sandwiches and scones. There is a HUGE selection of very tasty teas. I came hungry and left full (and I can eat!) Thank you so kindly for making my birthday an unforgettable experience. This was my first visit but it will certainly not be my last.
Absolutely scrumptious ! Highly recommend for catering . They will make your event magical . So beautiful and tasty. The flavours they use elevate the classic afternoon tea experience . Thank you t-buds !
A Lawrence park neighbourhood gem! We ordered the classic and chocolate afternoon tea for two people (who haven t eaten all day) and it was absolutely delicious and very filling. The tea selection was vast and the tea I chose (puer cocoa caramel) was amazing. Quality on par with some of the high end afternoon tea places. The afternoon tea came with a starter - I got a quiche with caprese salad and my partner got an empanada with the same salad. We will be back!
An afternoon tea place with actually good food as well!
Amazingly tasty food, affordable prices, great staff!
Great amount of tea choices and pleasant location.
This is a wonderful little tea house. You could not ask for better service, food and atmosphere. The sandwiches were very tasty and well presented. Your choice of teas is incredible. The service was prompt, but not rushed. The price is right and better than higher priced downtown hotels. We will definitely return.
Slightly pricey BUT a great place, afternoon tea was excellent, good welcoming staff and a lovely dining room, just the right size. Unfortunately upstairs so may not suit everyone
It was awsome afternoon tea
Excellent service and the afternoon tea was perfect. Cozy atmosphere.
A great experience of delicious tea, sandwiches and desserts
It was overpriced for the quality of the food. I purchased a bag of tea to take home but they packed the wrong type. Wouldnt recommend.
We really enjoyed their takeout scones and sandwiches. Glad this place is in our neighbourhood and looking forward to having tea there once Covid is over!!!
A beautiful snack! What time we arrived/Wait time? Arrived on a thursday at 4pm and it was busy. I think it is because of the groupon deal they are having! Atmosphere? It is small. It is definitely NOT high tea. It is an afternoon tea... the tea and food is more upscale looking than the place. It feels more like a cute living room and very homey. Service/Staff? Service was so fast and amazing. The girls were so kind to explain all the flavours and were very sweet. Food/Menu/Pricing? The sandwiches were amazing. We got the 12 mini sandwiches (salmon, tuna, egg, chicken) with the quiche, fruit bowl and tea biscuits with cream and jam! I absolutely loved it. I paid for two afternoon tea sessions on groupon for 55$. I love that they filter their water x4 so you get the truest tea taste.
Very good experience
Great little spot! Appropriate ambiance for afternoon tea, excellent tea selection and absolutely delicious food (we ordered the chocolate high tea).
Bread was stale, desserts hard as a rock. Very over priced for what you get. Place is also small so when a larger group is beside you it is very loud. The red pepper cheddar paprika was awful. Their curry chicken and apple was amazing!
Delicious and endless tea choices!!!

REVISED REVIEW: I deleted my former review because my friend convinced me to go back to T-Buds after really terrible service over Christmas 2 years back, and Im really glad I did. They got rid of that really terrible waiter (who treated me and my guest like like he was feeding street children!) and Im happy to report that I have never been treated that way again. The food is really good and so affordable while still giving you a luxurious high tea experience. The Savoury Tea is my favourite because its really difficult to find afternoon high tea in town that will give more savoury options than sweet. My complaint with most high teas is that there arent enough sandwich options, but not here. The sandwiches are delicious and the scones with clotted cream and jam are enough to satisfy whatever sweet cravings I have. The tea selection is immense and Im never disappointed with a single one Ive had. The service has also been really wonderful ever since I came back. Our servers have been kind and have never tried to rush us away and even let us stay back to talk while they prepared to close the shop for the day! They are never invasive or overstep but take care into delivering a luxurious experience. This place is Torontos hidden gem. Im glad I got over myself and gave them another chance. SO WORTH IT!
Bought this experience from Living Social. What a great atmosphere and the food was amazing.
Always impressed with t-buds. High tea yesterday but have gone to their food and tea pairings and they are wonderful! Great food and knowledgeable staff
Always the top afternoon tea local for me. Ive never had a bad cuppa or poor meal here. Thoroughly enjoyable every single time. Our server today was a young woman with an accent whos name escapes me but was attentive but not hovering. She went through the afternoon tea tiers very well and was knowledgeable about the tea menu when I asked for one to aid with digestion. Made my birthday a very pleasant one. Thank you T-buds!
Ive been here for afternoon tea a few times. There are different options available if you would like a full tea with quiche or a more simple tea with scones and a small selection of sandwiches. I like that you can choose different sets of food. There are many teas available and the milky oolong is amazing. The service here is friendly and you dont feel rushed. You are able to purchase loose leaf teas here as well. The tea experience here is more casual but perfect to catch up with friends.
Called to inquire about the menu and possibly book a group reservation and the staff member was quite rude and assertive assuming I had knowledge of how the menu worked - if I knew I wouldn t be calling. I expected to receive kindness in customer service especially as this is a tea shop but was left feeling on edge. Won t be visiting, can t make a first impression twice.
Pleasent experience although the place is smaller than i would have expected
Mango tea is the best
Afternoon tea service and food was perfect! Everything was affordable, really nice place to hangout
Beautiful tea house with lots of selection and great scones!
Great experience, intimate/cozy atmosphere. Prices are quite high, but the teas are foods are great.
Delicious lunch and friendly service. I will come back for the high tea
A very underwhelming experience. We were the only customers there but the waitress didnt come to take our order for 15 minutes. She forgot the milk for the tea, cutlery for the food and then disappeared for another prolonged period when we wanted to get the cheque. The darjeeling tea was good. The scones were very small, sweet and flakey like a biscuit, not at all like the British scones I was expecting . My local cafe has better scones. It just really wasnt worth the trip there.
Wonderful high tea and the service was attentive and warm.
I bought a coupon on Wagjag and decided to try this place out. I took my sister here for their afternoon tea and we both really enjoyed it. The tea sandwiches, scones and desserts were delicious and the tea was lovely. I would visit again!
A bit pricey for what you get, but the food was quite nice. For parties of two I recommend splitting a larger order and a smaller one to share. I didnt like how leaky the teapots were and this place didnt have candle warmers to keep the tea hot.
This place is small and cozy. The staff was very friendly. The food was alright. The sandwiches were pretty good , but otherwise nothing special. The presentation was pretty normal. The scones werent very flaky or buttery and were very dense. The sweet desserts didnt seem fresh. The biggest complaint that I have was that my cup still had lipstick on it and was not washed properly!
Lovely spot for an afternoon tea and to get loose leaf. :)
Very cozy location. Kind and friendly staff, great selection of teas and wonderful food. I got the classic afternoon tea and my husband got the brunch; both were delicious. The curry chicken with green apple sandwich was fantastic, as were the scones and quiche. The yogurt parfait and croissant with brie and green apple (from the before noon brunch tea) were wonderful. They even came to ask us for feedback at the end, which showed that they cared about you and your service, and were open to modifying food based on customer feedback.
We come here from far away and the person at the front 1st said let me clean up the table and suddenly said no we dont have space although we could see 2 table empty he didnt offer us any courtesy or anything just simply said no we dont have space for you. Very rude and incompetent staff
A tranquil yet elegant and delicious place for brunch with friends. The white rose tea, jam and tea scones and lovely tiny variety of sandwiches u can choose from make u feel like your in a really classy environment. A place youd wanna cherish and certainly return to .
Love High Tea here. Cozy and yummy
Our group booked the whole place for a few hours one afternoon for our Festivi-teas (capacity for 26 people). It is a cozy space with a welcoming atmosphere. The staff were great and the teas and food were lovely. One thing to note is that since you have to take stairs up to the second floor to access the tea room, it is not accessible to people with mobility issues.
I enjoyed this place had a pleasant high tea with unique sandwiches
Good service. Great selection on teas. Cheaper than your typical high tea spots.
I love everything about this place
Great food, especially for the price.
Incredible fun.. Delicious tea, fantastic sandwiches and desserts.
Went here for bridal tea party, The food and Tae were really good I dont mind going again with the girls
Incredible High Teas, and you can buy there Incredible Teas either at the location or online after!! Great experience the first time and Alot of Selection of Organic Teas.
I love this place! I dont know about the bad reviews a few months ago but the service was amazing and the food/tea was the best in So many different sandwiches especially the smoked salmon!!! Best scones in the GTA hands down. Baked fresh daily!
Charming place for High Tea at great value. Extensive selection of wonderful teas. They do not have alcohol licence, if your guests wanted to switch after their tea to wine. However, nice touch with the non-alcoholic bubbly at end of meal. Sandwiches were so yummy.
I am addicted to their teas! Its a lovely, quiet place for a tea luncheon. But I keep going back to supply my at-home tea addiction. I love the Black tea with Ginger and Peach Blossoms. There are actual bits of ginger in the tea. And the Green Tea with Strawberries has bits of strawberries inside. I have tried other tea places that are closer to me, but they all seem to have artificial flavours in them. The location is a bit hard to find. And there are stairs to get up to it, but its worth it. We discovered t-buds through a groupon a few years ago, and Ive been buying their teas ever since. I have also ordered the tea online, when I just couldnt get there.
Poor, slow, confused Service. She started off by telling us most of the menu was unavailable, only to realize what day of the week it was and that everything was available...ok. Had to ask for cutlery and water and figure out how the tea service works on our own while she looked at us confused. 40min for the tea to come, over an HOUR for the tea service and sharing plate (which is not enough food for 3.5, despite what they told us). We were one of two tables there at that time and the other one was just finishing their tea. As a few more tables came I noticed they too waiting excessively long to get their food. Presentation was pretty but taste was just ok. Ambiance left lots to be desired.
Very sorry and shocked to learn today that crepes are no longer on the menu. Eggs, sausage, bacon? No, thank you.
We hosted a Bridal event and it was first class at T-buds! Thanks Marissa and staff!
WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. When making the reservation we clearly stated our dietary restriction: no meat and no eggs. Prior to ordering at the table we repeated no eggs and no meat. The server acknowledged that there was a note left for our restrictions. She then served me SALMON and I bit into it (first time ever in my life). When I questioned her she said Its seafood. Then she said it must be a miscommunication because our menu serves 3 different types of vegetarian. Not sure how much more clearer I could have been after repeating myself before and after ordering in English. Your menu does not clearly state the different levels of vegetarian foods anywhere. Although it is common sense that fish is an animal! You claim to serve guests with dietary restrictions, heres a wild thought...TRAIN YOUR STAFF. The best part of the evening...the server increased the bill by $2 and took if off to show she compensated us. I know this because this was not my first time there. I am writing this review in hope that maybe youll value your other guests.
Average - when you can finally get a spot. We tried to come to this location probably 10 times in the last 4 months. 9/10 times they were Closed for an Event or Closed for a Holiday or otherwise just locked. Not really sure how the rest of the reviewers were even able to assess their food to begin with. The one time we were finally able to go inside, it was a little bit disorganized and some of the items were missing from the menu. We were rushed inside, rushed to order, rushed out.
Delicious finger sandwiches, and very fair prices for high tea. Really happy they are halal!
Awesome tea. Pastries were okay.
T-buds is a lovely little place just north of Lawrence on Yonge. Great selection of teas and a decent price for high tea. The sandwiches and scones were delicious and served so nicely.
Great spot for high tea! The sparkling tea at the end was better than expected.
Wonderful selection of teas. Friendly, knowledgeable and considerate servers. The food was amazing and the tea (Sahara mint tea), ever so refreshing! If I could, I would give them 10 stars out of 5!
Dont let the entrance put you off. Up the stairs and find a Lovely tea room with beautiful tea service and excellent service and food.
This place is close to where I live so very convenient. The server was very nice and attentive. The scones were warm and delicious. They also bring out hot water for tea refills. The only thing that is stopping me from giving this place five stars is the tea sandwiches. I felt they were soso only. Not very tasty. They need to improve on those. Everything else was delicious.
Made reservations- small location, would recommend that you do that! Had a lovely tea with plenty of tea choices and a nice spread of food.
I LOVE THEM!!!!I ALWAYS go there for the afternoon tea.. my girls and I always go there for a time out!!! And relax
Its okay for a cup of tea
For my first time going for afternoon tea, I didnt have high expectations but this place was just horrible. The sandwiches were stale and not fresh and there were fruit flies flying around the fruit. The only good thing was the scones. The waiters hinted for us to leave 2 hours before they actually closed. Finally they just outright told us we had to go even though they were still open for hours. I would not recommend this place to a friend.
High Tea @ $24
EXTREMLEY UNCOMFORTABLE AND UNWELCOMING. We saw their sign and were intrigued by the idea of authentic crepes. We walked up and saw the place, while no one was there to greet us, so we had a seat closer to the back. There was no indication that it wasnt seat yourself or that it was reservation only. When the waiter noticed us, he turned to the other coworker to say some random people just sat down, I wish I was making that up; he grabbed menus and essentially threw them in front of us on the table along with the tea cups. He went into the back after not saying anything and started complaining about us to whoever else was back there. He did not care of us whatsoever and made no effort to let us know anything or to tell us that it wasnt okay. It was unbelievably rude and we had to leave. I will never go back. This was absolutely one of the worst restaurant experiences Ive ever had. I would give it 0 stars if I could.
Great place, amazing food and fantastic service.
Fun little place for a light lunch
First class place for tea and a meal. Weve been coming here since it opened. Great menu and great service.
Good portions. Nicely presented.
This restaurant does not deserve more than two stars. We waited far too long for someone to greet us when we walked in. The food was subpar for the price and the service was poor. Our waiter was dismissive and not friendly in any capacity. I will certainly not return. Its only redeeming quality was the calm ambiance.
The perfect place for afternoon tea with many tea varieties and delicious miniature food items at a reasonable price! I went on a weekday afternoon and it was pretty empty, which means more personalized service.
Love it here! Been a few times. First one was with a Groupon. The best sandwich was the shrimp brioche. Wish they gave more clotted cream to go when I packed my scones though! Tea set is quite filling. Nice and quiet environment, only just 2 staff usually from what Ive seen bit its a small place so its okay!
Lovely time !
Wonderful and tiny restaurant to have afternoon tea at
Got the afternoon tea set. Pricey for what it is.
Took my mom and my sister here for Mothers day and it was absolutely wonderful! The atmosphere is so relaxing theres lovely smooth jazz playing and the seating is comfortable; it was almost as relaxing as going to a spa. The food was amazing everything was delicious but it was a lot of sweet stuff so be prepared to bring your sweet tooth. There are a couple of things they needed to brush up on such as customer service. It was not that crowded and we were not asked if we wanted more hot water for our tea until the end of our meal so we were drinking cold tea for most of our meal. Yet we saw other tables being asked multiple times if theyd like more hot water. Also despite the fact that we orderes 3 full meals/trays and paid full price it came on 2 trays and was missing a couple small things that would have been there if theyd brought three separate trays. For example there was a tiny bowl of jam and Marscipone cheese for 2 scones on my tray and the same amount for four scones on the other tray. When we said something we were told we had to share which I know sharing is caring but when youre paying full price you definitely shouldnt have to. Other than that the place was great and I will most certainly go again.
Great service and a large variety of tea flavors
Great place
Cozy little gem of a place. It didnt seem like a lot of food when we ordered it, but it was actually more than enough. The service was excellent and food and teas delicious.
Reasonably priced afternoon tea. Not to crowded. Great for close friends to get together catching up. (I went there a few months ago.)
Very cozy tearoom, great menu selection, fabulous selection and variety of teas
A little small but cozy place. Friendly service and a wide variety of interesting crepe choices. And everything in the menu is claimed to be halal.
Had a lovely date with my mom here!! Awesome tea selection and yummy food. Staff will help with tea pairings. Book ahead to be sure to get a spot!!
Delicious, affordable, hi-tea experience.
The sweets are good but the savory (my favorite), the tea selection and service are fantastic!
We were with some of my friends and we had amazing Teas and Lunch at T-Buds. Lamb was very soft and had authentic taste and the scones with home made butter cream and jams were terrific. Many Nice Varieties of crepes were impressive also ! Service was great I will strongly recommend anyone who loves speciality teas to go to this place and try all the different varieties of teas and food.
My girlfriend took me here for afternoon tea. Nice date place. Large selection of teas. The afternoon tea itself is reasonably priced.
Purchased many tea gifts for friends and family here. Good prices and nice teas
A nice tea shop with a reasonably priced afternoon tea. The tea selection is overwhelming but the staff is knowledgeable with excellent suggestions. The food is prepared and presented nicely. The atmosphere is relaxed and quiet.
Great food, fair price...sadly not so great service. Waiter seemed quite annoyed and disinterested at any request made. I wouldve normally brought this up in person but didnt want to ruin a happy occasion. Too bad :(
My wife and I loved our afternoon tea here. The interior is charming and clean with very comfy seating. I dont have much vocabulary for tea but our waiter suggested something perfect based on my vague description of my preferences. The petit fours and sandwiches were scrumptious and you get a lot of variety. Very impressed with the freshness of everything served, as well as the service.
What a lovely neighbourhood gem! So many tea service options including high tea and lunch foods. Loads of tea varieties and the staff are very knowledgable. Pretty and quaint decor inside and great service. Enjoyed several hours just relaxing with some soothing tea and delicious scones. Wonderful experience and I will definitely be back! May just have to bring my little girl for some mommy and daughter bonding time.
This a quiet little place on the second floor offering afternoon tea and crepes. Its a cute casual environment for little get togethers and lunches. The staff is friendly, and the food isnt bad.
My sister-in-law whos very picky with food highly enjoyed her tandoori chicken. I had the afternoon tea (first time ever) and the scones with cream and jam was delicious. The sandwiches were good too. Wide range of teas to chose from. Small, cozy atmosphere and although server was busy the space was small that you could quickly call for him. He checked up on us too; asked how everything was. I would go back again. Green P available 1-2 blocks south which was convenient.
Tea service was excellent. Space is a little cramped.
Went for afternoon tea with some friends today (Nov 26, 2016). Atmosphere: Really liked it, a small space, but very comfortable and nicely decorated. Service: Our waiter was very attentive and helpful with our questions with the menu. Food: Delicious. The portions were perfect, the food was presented nicely and there was a large selection of tea. Tried some of my friends teas, it was very good and aromatic. Reason for lost stars: A female waitress was heard loudly mocking something that was said at our table from the kitchen. Made the atmosphere very awkward afterwards. As someone who has worked in customer service, I understand that venting about troublesome customers is a thing that happens, but it is rather rude to do it within earshot of other customers. I dont believe our table has caused any trouble to warrant this, we made some comments about the restaurant being smaller than we imagined but we had no issues with the size. Overall, pretty okay experience. The price and food was good.
