The Alpine is a lively bar located in Toronto's Junction area, offering a cozy and rustic ambiance paired with an energetic vibe. My companion and I visited on a late Saturday evening and were seated right away. We tried the Steak Sandwich ($26), Honey Garlic Wings, and Tuna Ceviche ($16). While the steak sandwich was acceptable, the tuna ceviche felt a bit too watery, and the crostini was a little too hard for my preferences. The honey garlic wings, though decent, had a very mild honey garlic taste. Our server was friendly, and efficient. She checked in on us just the right number of times, making the service feel attentive but not overbearing. The Alpine isn't wheelchair accessible. The main entrance is narrow, and there are a few steps to go up before reaching the seating area. A fun note is that they offer karaoke every Friday night from 9 PM to 2 am. Overall, The Alpine offers a great atmosphere for a casual night out, but some of the dishes could use a little refinement.
What a wonderful surprise. In what used to be a dive bar, the Alpine is a charming restaurant with comfortable booths and really great food. The service is excellent and did I mention the food is really great? Not only is it great but it’s different and interesting. I’m really impressed.
Always have a great time coming here. The staff is great and always accommodates our fairly large group. Food is always great, and the beer list is amazing. Love the steins. The prices actually include tax, which they should mention as everything's slightly cheaper than it appears!
Good atmosphere, neat little bar in the junction of Toronto. Wide selection of drinks and cocktails + seasonal specials. Did not have food but from the other tables it looked delicious. Cocktail I had was a play on a Caesar, with habanero and a few other items, wasn't my favorite, but still was presented nice Friendly servers, looking forward to coming back.
Big portions , best fish and chips , love the kale salad and the margaritas delish..Adrian the server is funny, friendly , the best…that have live music , karaoke and there play list is awesome …
My first time here. Met an old friend for pork schnitzel which our server Monica recommended over chicken. It was delicious and so was the local citrusy beer I had. Service was very friendly and I walked out full. Looking forward to my next visit here 😊
Sunday brunch at the Alpine was good!! We ordered the chicken + waffles (really tasty), classic eggs benny with bacon, eggs benny with fried chicken (so good) and the waffle fried chicken sandwich. The portions were generous and the food was delicious. The hollandaise sauce had a hint of lemon and dill - amazing flavours. The potato wedges were seasoned perfectly. The food could have been hotter, and was probably sitting on the counter for awhile. The price is right, each meal was less than $20. The restaurant decor was tasteful, modern and cozy. The service was okay, felt like they checked in us on too many times that it was a bit awkward. I dont think they meant to rush us, especially since it wasnt busy but it was just awkward. I would still return because the food was really good and the price was a steal.
We sag outside today then ordered coke, steak salad, fries, chicken schnizel. The size of the potion is large, awesome since we were hungry. The fries were excellent and tasty well seasoned. The chiken was well cooked and tasty, the pasta bits were ok but blend. The steak was tough but since this is a skirt cut (that was expected) on the other hand the salad was excellent the blue cheese and beat tasted amazing. We will be back to taste their selection of beer and other food ...
Food not really good and there was cockroaches (((
The schnitzel plate was fantastic. And the pierogi were to die for.
Awesome beer selection. Food is top notch, most definately not your usual bar slop. Cosy modern and a great atmosphere. My new junction go to!
Nice service and place but I was sick after tasting my dish. I had pierogies and the cabbage gave me a stomach ache. Unfortunately I do not recommend this in any case, not for this dish.
Love this place! Food, cocktails and beers are fantastic. Service is always amazing. Andrea is a great bartender. Very accommodating, friendly and makes a great drink.
We waited outside for a seat in the patio and sat down on a table that hasn t been cleared yet because it was the only available table and we were tired. Server comes and yells that we can t be sitting down before he cleans the table. Not a very welcoming experience and so we decided to go across to Hole in the Wall instead. A very off putting and disrespectful experience so don t think we ll be coming back again.
Burger was bland and I recommend against anything that is not fried. Beet salad was mostly spring salad drenched in oil and white vinegar. There was an attempt at fancy by including pickled rhubarb, pickled too long in cheap vinegar. Roasted beets tasted like boiled beets. I m posting this just in case i think of the restaurant again.
Our experience with Alpine yesterday was amazing! The Pork Schnitzel and the chicken sandwich on the previous day was amazing! Highly recommended! The service and atmosphere is top! Thank you guys!
We found this place by fluke, but couldn t be happier. We are absolutely coming back! The Alpine board was delicious. German food with a flare, and so well done. Absolutely worth the trip. Adrienne was our server, a spectacular energy and person!
Servers n workers were so sweet n kind! Amazing vibes.
Came here randomly to watch the Argentina and Canada game and was pleasantly surprised by the food and the amazing service. The Brussels sprouts were bomb!
Slow service and overly aggressive on tips starting at 20 percent. Food is ok. Staff below average.
Got the board for two on Uber eats. Every single bite was so delicious. Delicious meats, fantastic pretzel and sauces and sides were all so good.
We ve been here a few times over the last year. Great, friendly service! The Schnitzel is delicious and a very generous portion. Unique cocktails as well!
The one star review is purely based on service. I came here with a group of friends on a Saturday night for drinks. We were made to feel unwecome from the moment we arrived, with the server saying the kitchen was closed. After being seated, we asked to switch from one large booth to the other as the speaker was too loud above us. Our server gave us an overt expression of disapproval. Mind you, the establishment was practically empty at that time. When taking our order she numbered us from 1 to 8 and made us say our number before placing our order so she could keep track. Im sorry, isnt that your job? It made us feel like school kids. And to top it off, i needed a moment to look through the menu as I stepped away to use the washroom just before she came to take our order. Instead of giving me time, she stood there watching me. We were made to feel like we were inconvencing her, as paid customers. Its a shame, cause we actually really liked the cocktails, but with the way we were treated we wont be coming back anytime soon.
The servers are amazing! Super conscience. Food is exceptional. Obvious care placed in the preparation of the dishes. Cocktails are well crafted and the rotating taps are worth the visit. Monica Adrienne Danny and all the gang are wonderful staff who make the patrons feel at home. Vegetarian options: Harvest salad is large and filling. The veggie burger is off the hook! Dietary restrictions: My partner has some sensitivities and the kitchen is very helpful. Kid-friendliness: Staff are kind and patient and happy to make slight food augmentations for fussy eaters.
First started coming in last year a bit after lockdown for brunch dates with the boyfriend and thought it would be great to introduce my friend for drinks night and yummy pretzels. Good staff, good food, good atmosphere and great service. **update Mar 23, 2024** Had the steak sandwich special with the boyfriend... Nothings changed. The food, staff, service and atmosphere is still best. Every. Visit.
I was a patron at the comedy show a few weekends ago and by extension a guest at your restaurant. One of my friends were the comedians on the show, and I was very excited to see him perform the for the first time as he always invited me and Im always too busy to go, so I surprised them and I went this time, during my time I was sitting at the table with some unknown guests, and one of the servers came up to me. His name is Hamid. He asked if Id like something to eat or drink. I said yes I would like the chicken wings and I told him how I liked it and he said to me theyre not too spicy . I just have to dump them in the ranch sauce if I find that they are too spicy, he didnt give me any options or ask the kitchen to do any adjustment. Before my food comes he brought me a bill for the food & I was a little confused as Ive never had a situation whereby I paid before eating. So I told him and he yanked machine and bill from my table, in a very angry tone he said buddy I need to have a credit card. at the time I had my debit card in my hand and I said to him that Im not paying from a credit card Im using debit, I just wanted to clear the air because he mentioned he needed to have a credit card and I know some places only accept credit cards. He walked away very angrily because I said I refused to pay for food I didnt receive / eat. I was being very kind and patient with him while he could have explained to me the reason hes doing this, but he didnt. Im never the type to break rules , Im basically telling my server how I feel as a guest. When I received my food he came back and slam down the card machine on my table again while everyone was looking at me wondering why hes behaving like that having me looking & feeling embarrassed , I gently took up the machine and paid from my debit card. I took my time to place the machine on my table while I kept calm , he then yank the machine up again and said see you have a credit card eh in a very angry tone of voice. I said nothing other than thank you to him and the food runner. Nasty service! Terrible first impressions !
This is our go to spot in the Junction. Great for family dinners. The appetizers are all delicious. Lots of main course options that are fresh and tasty. They serve nice cocktails as well. Service is good too.
Had a fun night downstairs last Thursday. Live mike bluegrass music. Looking forward to their next event.
Nice bar, friendly staff, and great sound
The staff here at The Alpine are the most hospitable you ll find on the Junction. When a 3rd party delivery service failed to deliver all our food, I went to the restaurant to find the rest of my order. Unfortunately, the delivery service had screwed it up, but the staff sorted me out with our meal and a drink on the house. (Massive shoutout to Jeff!) 11/10 would recommend - their service was fast, supportive and above all, really friendly -and the food and drink tasted fabulous in the end!! Happy St Paddy s Day and thank you!!
Fantastic spot for food, drinks or a party. Over the years we have been coming here for dinner, calibrations or just a drink. We have never had a bad experience! Food is always fresh, hot and comes out quickly.
We had a big dinner party at Alpine this past week - 16 of us took over much of the back room. Staff was very patient with us, as we were moving around a lot and chatting - basically not really sitting so they could take our orders. Finally we settled in and were treated very well by ask staff. Attentive, respectful and settling the bills was completely painless. The Alpine Board is incredible and should be ordered at every sitting. Be aware - it s massive.
A decent restaurant with a nice draft beer list. Too bad they re not open for lunch through the week. Unfortunately very little in the way of vegetarian and vegan food options plus essentially nothing for those with chili/ pepper allergies.
Really, really, really delicious food. Super friendly staff. The Mac and cheese is insanely good. Caesar drinks were amazing. Highly recommended!
One of the best restaurants in the Junction. Cool vibe, great beer selection on tap as well as Niagara wines.
Love this place. I recd giftcard for Christmas and then took the family. So much love and care in the food they serve to the staff that check up on us at the table.
The pierogis are perfect
Great service and food. Excellent value. Want to try other dishes.
Great food and impressive selection of craft beer and tasty cocktails.
I went here for sunday brunch with my boyfriend and was seated immediately. I got the mango mimosa which was delicious but then I had to wait about 1hr and 15 min for the food to come out. I got the schnitzel benny and my boyfriend got the fried chicken benny. The food was good but the wedges were a bit under done (I like them more crispy). the benedict s were great. I do not think it was worth the wait which is what gave the 3 star rating. The staff later told us they were training kitchen staff which is what caused the long wait time, but I think they could have prevented that by choosing a less busy time to train them.
The two ordered a platter, which included two types of sausages, fried pork chops, smoked thick bacon, potato salad, lye bread rolls and some side dishes. I ordered a glass of draft beer. Because I didn t know much about the types of beer , I asked the clerk to recommend something lighter and sweeter. He recommended Henderson. As soon as the cup was handed to the table, I could smell the strong aroma of malt. It was very good! It tasted exactly what I wanted and I experienced the charm of draft beer ~ I like it The sausage and coleslaw are my favorites on the platter. Both sausages taste good, the dark red one (I guess it is beef sausage) is especially delicious The meat is rich and fragrant ~ coleslaw is very fresh, highlighting the crisp and sweetness of the vegetables, and well neutralizing the effects of barbecue of greasiness. The pickles are served in thin slices, which I also appreciate. A whole pickle in other barbecue restaurants always makes me unable to eat it I feel like my teeth will be sore after just one bite...Thinly sliced pickles The portion of each bite is just right The smoky flavor of smoked bacon is very clear and delicious~ It would be great if the fried pork chop could be paired with spicy soy sauce (this is the way I am used to eating Shanghainese food). I wonder if the store prepares Worcestershire sauce hahaha~ The alkaline water knot is really as written on the menu, very soft, but the texture is dense when you bite it, just like freshly baked, I like it
*edit back patio is no more but the seating out front has made up for it come to colder months - enjoy the indoors !!!!! Great patio out back - and quality selection of music downstairs ! Chicken sandwich is recommended.
Excellent place, good variety of good beer, great food, everyone had a great time! The burgers are fantastic.
Went there for the first time with a friend for his birthday. Super pleased. Food was perfectly cooked and you could tell that they dont go for lower quality ingredients, the marble on my steak was amazing. Some of the best wings Ive had in a while, and the carrot cake they brought out for my friends birthday was incredible. Not a drinker myself, but the beer selection is very unique and the staff were very knowledgable and super friendly. Up there with La Rev for some of my favourite spots in the neighbourhood. Highly recommend.
I hosted my 30th birthday party at the Alpine in their private room. It was an excellent experience from start to finish. They ve got a varied drink menu, affordable and delicious appetizer platters to share, and friendly and accommodating staff who kept the energy light and fun! Myself, my friends and my family made some great memories that night. I d highly recommend hosting your event at the Alpine.
Excellent service and the poutine is to die for. Do it!
A bit of a middling experience. The restaurant was pretty quiet on a Sunday afternoon for brunch. Upon entering, the restaurant had a noticeable musty smell of a bathroom. It is an attractive restaurant with comfortable booths and a clean overall decor. The service was friendly but the food took forever to come out (more than 30 minutes). I had the Chicken and Waffles. They were ok, but a bit cold and the plate was 2/3rds home fries. I think this place is better suited to a bunch of beers with friends, with snacks on the side.
Nice place
Awesome Cesar, great food. Was able to get in for Sunday brunch without a lineup.
Great food Great interior, good music
Great atmosphere, fun music and fantastic food and drinks. We shared the Alpine Board for Two, which probably could have fed three. Delicious. Oh... fantastic service to top it off.
Relaxing place to grab a drink
Great place, much improved from the last establishment. Had the sausage rolls and a Stein. Recommended!
Loved the pretzel !
Shared the board for two. Was very full and satisfied. Make sure you try the junction spur if you are looking for a very yummy cocktail
Cant believe I walked by this place so many times without going in until today. A lovely bar, clean and contemporary. Staff were good, had the lamb sausage rolls as a snack and they were great. Will definitely be back
Delicious food, beautiful atmosphere, great service.
Shout out to The Alpine Dundas st W Toronto. First time here. 30th BDay. The employees have gone above and beyond. Super friendly yet professional. We feel at home. Cheers to this incredible new home to us. We highly recommend you just try it once. Food is so delicious. We will put the Alpine on our MUST COME AGAIN SOON.
The Alpine is an excellent choice for a night out. The restaurant offers a great selection of beer and cocktails, with a delicious menu that caters to all tastes. The staff is friendly and accommodating, and its a relief to know that they take reservations on a busy Friday night. Overall, The Alpine is a great choice for anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience.
Great place to catch the game let s go TO!
Unfortunate Food Incident - food poisoning. I dined at this restaurant with my friend on the evening of Thursday, May 18th. Our choice for the evening was the Alpine board for two, which we shared. The meal itself was enjoyable and service was great. However, the following day (Friday) took an unexpected turn when I fell seriously ill during the afternoon. It escalated quickly, with violent episodes of vomiting and a high fever in the evening. My friend also fell victim to the exact same symptoms. We are both now just feeling a bit better, but Ive spent the whole long weekend bed ridden. **Edit from May 29 2023 in response to owner** - I didnt mention that my partner was also present and had her own entree, and she did not get sick. The only items she didnt try from our shared board were the coleslaw and the sausage. I highly doubt it was something in the air that made us sick, and Im absolutely sure it was caused by the food you served. Regardless of whether it was Norovirus or not, Ive eaten out countless times and have never gotten sick like this before.
Excellent schnitzel and the tastiest dumplings I ve ever had. Tasted like they were cooked with butter, mmmm! The mushroom gravy was pretty good. Worth every bite. They have large servings, good for 2 or one seriously hungry person. We had the harvest salad (big portion as well) and the dressing was perfect too. Highly recommend.
Meals were very good quality but portioning could be better for the price on some of the dishes like the perogies.
Delicious food. Rverything on the menu sounded super good so we decided to shared 3 appetizers between the 2 of us. They were all were very good. Service was good. Ill be back to try one of their burgers.
Great food and tons of beers and sours on tap. The food is high end pub food and everything is made fresh! The homemade Mac n cheese, fried chicken sandwich and fish n chips are a must try. I am never disappointed eating here
Looove, love, love this place! Good vibe, great food and awesome service. Im a big fan of their Ceasar salad, their burgers and the brussel sprouts. Honestly, all the food Ive tried here is good. Plus, the beer selection is on point. I highly recommend stopping by The Alpine if youre in the Junction!
Very, very good food!
I order schnitzel to go and Im floored. Cant wait to return and dine in. Thanks for putting something delicious together. Mustard sauce is not easy to forget
Went for the dnd event, it was really great. Great staff, friendly and helpful demeanor. The food was really good, big serving size, range for alcohol was good from what I heard. Neat that they host events like this.
Service was not good as expected!! Server doesn t know how to treat customers !!
My tennis friends and I had a great, wonderful evening here! Enjoying food and beer, watching the US open mens finals! This is a great place to hang out with friends! Comfortable environment, delicious food, warm service, I will come again!
My friends and I felt very uncomfortable with the terrible service we were provided. The Asian waitress made us feel so uncomfortable to the point that we asked for the bill and left the place without having our drinks finished. You should avoid this place if you care for decent customer service.
We came for a birthday dinner. Good German beer and food. Really enjoyed the schnitzel and they sat us in a nice booth right at the front of the restaurant. Would definitely come back.
We had our parents 50th anniversary party here and we were not disappointed. Food and service were amazing! Danny and Harriette went above and beyond to make sure we were well taken care of. We appreciated their attentiveness and friendliness. The food was delicious. A heartfelt thank you to Jeff and everyone who made this event fantastic for our family. We highly recommend planning your event here or stopping by for a drink and some fantastic food and a fun atmosphere. Thanks The Alpine! Well be back.
Complete lack of service. Attended a comedy show last Friday, sat at the bar with a friend with ZERO acknowledgment from any of the waitstaff after a whole hour, so we left. No eye contact, nothing! Everyone else around us got served menus, drinks, the works. Just making folks aware!
Lovely comfortable atmosphere and friendly service. I had the fried chicken which was very greasy and covered in sweet syrup. The chicken gravy was served room temperature as was the coleslaw.
Great brunch and very tasty steak
Always so good!!! Salmon Benny was delicious.
I have found myself at The Alpine three times in the last month and it seems I still have unfinished business with them because I m already planning my next visit. The cocktail menu looks amazing and I see artfully constructed cocktails passing by but I keep getting wooed by their craft beer selection and affordably priced wine list. I shared the Alps and Mushroom Swiss burgers with a friend the first visit. Who knew that pickled zucchini was addictive?!?! Perfectly balances the oooey gooey cheese. Tackled the Alpine Board the second time with a Harvest Salad to start. We ve all had a goat cheese salad but this one is different. The dressing is bright with a good hit of acidity and the unique toppers really make it stand out. We thought we could easily tackle the Alpine Board as we ve been accustomed to sharing plates being expensive and small. This was not. Piled high with juicy sausages, impossibly tender schnitzel, melt-in-your-mouth pork belly and delicious sides, we tried and failed to finish it all. The hat trick visit had us sucked into two of the specials: Jalapeño Popper Soup (What?!?!? Yes!!!!) and a perfectly cooked 22oz Double Pork Chop. Needless to say, we still haven t tried any of the cocktails or a number of very appealing menu items, like the Beef Ribs and the Beer-Brined Fried Chicken. See you soon, Alpine!
Reaply unique and delicious food!
Great staff, great food, a little pricey but market priced
Been to the alpine many times over the years and have always had a great experience. Went to get some celebratory drinks yesterday and the waiter got two of the drinks messed up - we fixed this by swapping drinks and letting them know. When we ordered the next round the same mistake was made but when we informed the waiter he insisted it was the right one (it wasn t - we had another at the table to compare) then openly took a sip from the drink and handed it back to us. Can t believe that kind of service is acceptable. Give this place a miss and go to indie next door or the hole in the wall across the street.
Love that there is a European restaurant in the JUNCTION! A rare find and long over due .We had the schnitzel and the burger, both were amazing! Cant wait to try more from their delicious menu. The service was top notch, keep up the great work! Well be back ;)
The best drinks! My sisters favourite burger in the city.
Awesome place to grab a drink.
Ive been blown away by the quality of the food and service every time Ive come to the Alpine. On NYE, I brought my family here including my two young kids and the service was top notch. Our server was funny and friendly and my kids loved the overall experience and of course their food. Thank you to The Alpine for making our last night of 2021 a memorable one!
Way better than Indie Alehouse!
I had a delivery from UberEATS. Food was satisfactory, but I cant say it is outstanding. Schitzel was bland, cold and tasteless.Plus, overall quality was very low
Went for dinner and everything in the menu sounded so good it was overwhelming to pick just one. Went with the fried chicken and HOOOOOLY $#!+ it was delicious, huge portion. The Mac and cheese side was also fantastic. The gravy was a super unique flavour, my friend practically drank the thing. The margaritas was a litttttttle too spicy for me but I love a tajin rim. The server made us an off-menu digestif cocktail because I was so full I couldn t move. It was nice flavour and actually helped. Anyway, yeah, I d 1000% recommend here. Going back for sure.
Exceptional service and food. We had reservations for a group of 7 and had such an amazing time. Highly recommend their Alpine Board (attached picture), though it was meant for two it was fantastic to have it as an appetizer. Everything on the board was delicious and well prepared, but next time well add another pretzel cause its THAT good! Big thank you to our waiter (sorry I didnt get your name), he was very attentive and ensured we were all satisfied with our dining experience :) well be back!
My husband and I decided to go on a date and stopped by the alpine and we are so glad we did! Our server Stuart was excellent, he kept checking in on us, made us feel welcome, he even recommended two beers that were perfect. Were already planning our next date night! Thanks for a great evening!
Very disappointed this place is still enforcing the vaccine passport. Don t support this type of control!
Excellent food. Wonderful service and atmosphere. Superb beer selection.
Amazing place with delicious food and beer ( German beer with real german glass Service is amazing and nice crowd!!!
Best bar staff in town.
Terrific beer selection, great menu -cauliflower fritters! The pretzels! The brisket sammy!- and lovely staff. Really professional and safe approach to the crazy challenge that covid has presented to bar/resto mgmt and staff; we appreciate how thoughtful & careful theyve been, and the great communication along the way. Cant wait to return !
Will not be spending my time or money in a place where virtue signalling is more important than following science and the guidelines set by our local health unit.
Always great food and awesome staff. Highly recommend the alpine board, great to share with friends.
The food here is excellent! Especially the sausage and the mac and cheese. Ive also really appreciated the ongoing care for their clientele. Fabulous staff too. Keep doing what you do!
Great place that cares about its clientele and its staff. Random losers in Kelowna or London leaving 1-star reviews would never have gone there in the first place. Keep it up!!
Yummy food and great atmosphere!
Great food and beer selection! Definitely a neighbourhood favourite
Love this place, great food and drinks, awesome staff
Amazing food and exceptional cocktails! Can t wait til we get to go again!
Not only are the food and drink top level, but the staff is among the best-looking in the whole city of Toronto.
Been there for private functions, as well as casual drinks and good. Great fare, staff, and atmosphere. Disappointed to see the freedumb crowd attempting to one-star the place bc theyre keeping Vax passports for a month.
Great beer selection, the fish and chips were stellar, staff were friendly and professional. Will be returning.
Amazing food, awesome service!! Love this place and cannot wait to go back!! Highly recommend, 2 thumbs way up
Great food, great service!
The staff is incredible. Love the food, drinks and atmosphere. Highly recommend it.
Great food and service, and have been comforted that vaccine passport is still checked. Cant wait to come back again soon!
I know the owner and the ambiance and the food is great. Love the staff
Stopped by for dinner recently to see my friend Dan, who draws the most awesome billboard signs for the place. Had an avalanche fries and a classic burger, couple of pints. Nice to see the place still asking for vaccine passports, so I know Im not dining next to some plague rat. So glad to see a place that cares about their staff and customers.
Really great food and my server was charming as all hell.
Amazing food and the staff are so friendly and caring!
Favorite bar in the city - great staff (chill, knowledgeable, and great to chat with), great beer list including a lot of fantastic local brews, and awesome food. Its a place that legitimately cares about its staff, its customers, and the overall experience - there arent many like this place, cant recommend it highly enough. (Try the back patio if you get a chance - its a weird little Toronto back alley oasis.)
Wish I could give more stars. I was just so perplexed as to why I was asked to show my vaccine passport. Apparently, keeping this practice until April 1st? What is supposed to change by then? I got rid of the app as soon as I was able to and then had to scramble at my table in front of people while the host just stood there and waited for me to find my records. Super awkward for everyone involved. Sadly, will not be back.
I grew up in the area and I have never had such a bad experience in my neighbourhood. Firstly, my friend and I walked in wearing masks. Secondly, the vaccine mandate for restaurants was lifted. We walk in and nobody was at the door, so we went to sit at the bar. We reached the bar and my friend took her mask off. A server then comes to us and rudely snaps at us about how we should have waited at the door and then he snapped at my friend for not having her mask on, even though we were already at our seats. We then moved to a table to avoid being served by the guy who welcomed us. We only ordered drinks. I had a stout and my friend had a cocktail. She finished her drink and I was still drinking my. The new server came to the table and asked if we wanted anything and we said we would wait until I was finished my drink. We had asked the server if he could make Paper Planes (the cocktail) and we mentioned that when I was done my drink, wed order two to enjoy them together. While I was still finishing my stout, the server brought a Paper Plane to the table and placed in in front of my friend. We looked at him funny because we hadnt ordered yet, we werent ready to order yet, we wanted to order together and we were actually shocked that he made the drink and casually plopped it in front of her. The only time you should bring a drink to a table that didnt order it is when it is complimentary. Some might read this and think it isnt a big deal, but it is because we could have decided we didnt want one and now we were forced to pay for it. In the end, I actually didnt feel like another cocktail and yet my friend had to pay for the one she didnt order. Yall need some customer service and emotional intelligence training.
Great up or down gastropub. Their Junction Sour is one of the best drinks Ive had in the city. Very friendly staff too.
Food speaks for itself.
Fantastic! My Partner and I have seemed to have made a habit of coming here once a week. We try something new every time and have never been disappointed. During our most recent visit the drinks and food were great as always but it was Freddy s attentive and friendly service that really completed the experience.
Wonderful cozy vibe! Stopped by as I saw the sign for Karaoke ( Misread it, Karaoke is on Fridays) HOWEVER the cocktails were fantastic and the wings supper yummy! Wish I could give a higher rating!! Very lovely staff as well, will be back! (On the real karaoke night this time)
If you love side dishes then you got to try their platter for 2. Comes with a pretzel, potato salad, pickled onions, pickles, coleslaw, 3 sauces including a cheese one and a whole bunch of pork. It s heaven on a plate, one of the best meals I ve ever had and I eat out a lot lol. Service was great too & loved the ambience, will 10000% be back.
Delicious drinks, tasty food and amazing staff!
Stuart (sp?) was wonderful. He made us laugh and he suggested beers when we weren t sure what we wanted. THANK YOU STUART- you rock!!
Amazing food, better service, great place to catch a game but the food and beer selection is worth it even if that isnt your thing. Its been around since before the pandemic, but since time has no meaning anymore it still feels like one of the best additions to the Junction in years.
Great food, atmosphere, and staff.
Definitely I will back! Good quality, good service, and also has non alcoholic beers!
Really enjoyed our time tonight, our server was excellent(Franky, if I m not mistaken), and super sweet to our pup. The food was great and so were the pints. Absolutely recommend.
Amazing delicious food and great music! Will definitely visit again.
Attended a munch here. Owner and staff are super pro all around. Great selection of original drinks and dishes. Check it out
Good burger. Great beer selection. Staff are very easy to get along with
My girlfriend and I went for the first time and this week and absolutely loved this spot. I was very impressed with the selection of beers, perfect for whatever mood you re in! I got a beer, she got a cocktail, and we shared the wings and everything was delicious and reasonably priced. Really great service that was fast, friendly, and helpful with all our needs. Bathrooms were very clean. 10/10 would recommend for your next dinner and/or drinks venture! We ll be back!
Went for only wine, which was good. The waiter seemed like he couldnt be bothered.
My friends heard good things about The Alpine and wanted to check it out. As we were entering the bar, one of the staff (we think they might have been the owner) stopped us and told us we couldn t come in because my friend was too drunk. My friend was not drunk - he had a knee injury and walks with a different gate. My friend tried to explain it was a medical condition and he hadn t been drinking. The staff rudely said something to the effect of I ve been doing this for a long time, you can t fool me. We left, haven t been back, and have no plans to go back. People s Pint has the same beer and is a much nicer place with much nicer staff. I don t often give places a one-star rating, but the not-well-informed and rude behaviour of the staff (owner?) who wouldn t let us in qualifies and there was nothing else to review because we didn t get to go inside.
Love the food here, and has a great beer selection. Somehow always have a great sour beer recommendation! The schnitzel is great and they have some really cool specials. I had a beef tounge sandwich one time which was really cool although they have more traditional stuff as well haha
My friend Dave rebuilt this place and it is perfection. Bravo to Jeff and the team for the sweet menu and beer selection!
I try to go every Sunday for live music. The Ole Fashion (the band) is SO good, and the drink selection is always on point.
Friends rented the basement for a private party. Food was excellent and so was the bar tender. Great work!
Any joint that loads up your plate with fries has a special place in my heart. My partner and I walked by and saw tons of patrons enjoying the sun in front of The Alpine, so we decided to grab a table. Im so glad we did because the service was on point, the food was on point, and the beer was on point. My partner who ordered the fried chicken sandwich said the crunch was one of the best hes heard in a long time. Definitely try their potato salad as a side if thats your jam. My burger was incredibly juicy and the fries just sent me to heaven. Despite dining outside, our server checked in on us multiple times so we never felt forgotten. We look forward to coming back!
Had a great time here, Jeff was great taking his time to share his knowledge on all the different craft beers. Really appreciate the hospitality Will definitely be coming back
Great place! Absolutely a breath of fresh air from the other bars in the area. Jeff is a great guy makes you feel very welcome. Everything is newly renovated and fresh. Definitely a spot to check out.
Great food, nice spot
Alpine is the best bar in town. Awesome food, great beer options, efficient and fun servers, good music and beautiful decoration.
Awesome place, great food. Nice dining room setup. Had the Chicken & Waffles, which I dont usually order in a restaurant. Why? Because generally its served with a type of honey mustard sauce, or something like that. On this brunch menu (which is served on weekends), it is served with Jalapeño maple syrup. Very very good, nice home fries as well. My wife had the same thing and loved it.
Alpine is a local gem. Beet salmon bennie can t be beat.
Amazing food, incredible service, gorgeous decor and outstanding drinks. The place o go when you choose The Junction!
I came in with a large group and everyone had a great experience! The food is delicious and so was the . Treat yourself to the shareable board! Totally worth it
An amazing local to have. Great food, more than enough screens, and first-rate service.
Great local spot for craft beers, dining in, and takeout. The host, Jess, is super and goes above and beyond with service. Five stars
Came for an event hosted in the lower level and only had drinks, but the staff were great hosts.
Pretty good schnitzel! That pretzel is very tasty too.
We were there on a Friday night that was very busy and we were very well taken care of and not rushed. It s first come first served for seating, we were there before 7 and only waited about 10 mins but it looked like the line was a little bit longer at the peak right between 7-730. Portion sizes were generous, quality of ingredients was high, and prep and presentation was great. I got the Swedish meatball sub, which was exactly as advertised (when you think about it) and delicious. Wife got the fish and chips and she was very happy with it. Very positive experience and we shall return!
Great experience at The Alpine, first very original menu, second the food was delicious very well prepared, third the staff was great, a really cool bunch. I recommend the Alpine board if you are hungry for $54 you eat!! Really great servings, add few pints of their selected beers and you are in for a good time. I will be back for sure and that Swiss and gruyere dip! Killer
Always great food, great service and really great beer
Great food, great service!
WOW amazing food and great staff. Lovely quiet patio in the back!
Had an unacceptable experience yesterday. My wife and I supported this place throughout the pandemic and decided to try the patio. Hammed (I apologize If I dont spell this correctly) was originally our waiter A very nice guy who knew how to talk to customers. Unfortunately the service was slow. This is not why Im writing . I understand that sometimes restaurants can be understaffed but my wife and I went 30 min without even being checked on. When my wife politlely notified the other waiter Danny that our drinks were running low he gave her attitude. For starters we were confused if hammed was still our waiter. Another 30 min go by without being checked on and I raised my hand to let the waiter know that again we could use a drink. This time Danny was insanely rude and rolls his eyes and said you dont need to raise your hand. Lets be clear. We did that once in a polite way. Not a frantic wave. Service every 30 min or more is not the greatest but this isnt even why Im upset. All Danny had to say was sorry we are busy I ll come when I can and this review would have never been written. Even at that point I was still going to tip .. Generously I might add. But when I spoke to Danny about my concerns there was only rolling eyes and rude comments. On the other hand Hammed was very good at communicating and knew how to be polite. In a city with thousands of restaurants it will be hard to come back. Again it is too bad because Ive been really trying to support restaurants as I know it has been a tough time however Danny made the experience terrible. Being slow sometimes I can accept but not rudeness.
Amazing food (large portions) and the staff were all very friendly and attentive. Beer line up is great and regularly highlights local Toronto breweries. Great experience, would recommend to anyone!
Me and my two girlfriends came for the one girls birthday dinner, our experience was pretty 50/50. Great selection of beers/cocktails/wine. The interior is pretty and trendy and a great turn around from the space that used to occupy it. We seated our selves which it totally cool, just wish there was a sign that said so. The food looked great when we got it! but we were disappointed with our food. I got the brisket sandwich with a salad and my two friends both got the fried chicken. We all agreed that the cornbread tasted like vanilla cake and was way too sweet. They also said the chicken the chicken was overly salted and breaded. Our food took a while and they must have been waiting on the chicken because my sandwich was cold and the cheese had hardened again. My salad was bland and the brisket was really saturated to the point of the bottom bun being too soggy to pick up. Honestly the only thing I could really taste was the cheese. Our server got her break half way through our visit and was eating at the bar, I dont mind but our other friend noted it was unprofessional. I may check it out again because there were a few more beers I wanted to try but overall we werent hyped on this place.
What a cute place! With a really nice front and back patio! We shared the platter for 2 and everything was amazing! Very friendly service and the vibe is so good!
Edit from my previous review - the service was a lot better this time but still a little lacking we waited quite some time for food and we had to flag our server down twice for drink refills. We really wanted this experience to be better as we are in Toronto once a month and have friends that insist this is a great place as it is there local haunt unfortunately it just hasnt been a great experience for us.
Accommodating and welcoming proprietors, solid selection of taps, and a strong menu. The wings are excellent!
The friendliest staff, cutest back hidden patio and I could eat my body weight in their soft pretzel & dips.
Love this place! Great drinks, delicious food, super lovely staff. Overall a great vibe, everyone I bring here falls instantly in love.
Only had a pint and will definitely be back. Raging we hadnt visited sooner. A fan of these guys from Mugshot. The place is lovely and service is well above par. Looking forward to getting back and having many pints and food and checking out the music venue downstairs - that looked delightful! See you soon.
Delicious as always I m boring- I always have the fried chicken dinner - not a fan of the honey drizzle but I mask it with the hot sauce. The Mac and Cheese is fantastic.
Chill atmosphere, good beer selection.
Good food, great music and excellent service. We ll be coming back.
Get the schnitzel! I haven t had anything like that since I was in Germany. Great atmosphere, beer and wine . Love it all there. See you next time.
We ve had take out several times and enjoyed each meal. The staff are really friendly and knowledgeable. Most recently had the veggie burger and it was absolutely incredible. I LOVED every bite and the flavors and texture were delish. Highly recommend!
