Located at Toronto’s The Well, indulge in comforting coastal flavours and contemporary British fare in a cozy and charming atmosphere.
Fish and Chips were incredible!!! Proper chunky chips, the curry sauce and crispy batter all sooo delicious!!! 🙌🏼 I’m from Devon, living in the city and they surpassed my expectations! Fish is haddock. Quite possibly the best plated F&C in the city! $28 is very reasonable for the quality, location and experience! Highly recommend!
Our service was 10/10 from Andrew. He was extremely pleasant and attentive to details! We celebrated our anniversary last night and had the tasting for $130. Overall nice food experience, personally not a huge fan of the main meat dish for our taste buds as it reminded us a bit of dry turkey meat. However , everything else had refreshing flavours. Would return!
Love love love this place!!! Think refined upscale British Pub. This place is gorgeous!!! Not sure many people know about it yet because it was very quiet when we went for brunch. It looks small from the outside but it is massive! The decor is beyond stunning! 2 stories with a terrace dining room and seperate Private event space. Would be amazing for corporate events! Brunch was fabulous!
UPDATE: Enjoyed breakfast so much we decided to try dinner. We certainly weren't disappointed. The staff were very attentive and the food was divine. I've tried to do the dishes justice with my photos. We all enjoyed the food and what a selection we had. They even brought me out a birthday cake BREAKFAST REVIEW: Here for breakfast. Full English & an Eggs Benedict Food was lovely & the bacon was so much nicer than what we get in the UK.
Had a good experience here overall and wouldn’t mind trying their other dishes. Their food was pretty impressive in terms of taste and technique with the dishes that we got. Some could have used a bit more seasoning, but we had some great dishes. The barbecued lamb for example was a bit bland. The smelts also could have used a bit more salt. The citrus cured bass is a pretty memorable dish for me. It was bright with the citrus and refreshing. I haven’t thought of having fish with berries but all the flavours and textures worked really well together. The service was good for the most part, but we were waiting quite a bit sometimes particularly at the start of our visit to order our food. It wasn’t busy in the dining room, and it was pretty much empty by 8:30pm on a tuesday evening.
We enjoyed dinner, especially the daily appetizer feature fish cakes. The salmon and mini potato pancakes was very good. The different rooms are all interesting, with great artwork. Service was fine, nothing remarkable. The prices are high - the cost of a 5oz pour of wine ranges from $15-20, which is getting over the top ridiculous. Happy I tried the Dorset but not high on my list of places to go back to.
We had a great time at the Dorset on Sunday. Second time at the dining room but 1st time to try the Sunday menu. My dad got the lamb and my husband got the rump of beef. Both are amazing! My Cornish chicken was overlooked initially, but the service they provided was amazing. They provided the fries while I’m waiting. The new one is perfectly golden fried and juicy (forgot took the photo). I can see they are striving to make everyone happy and have a great dining experience at the Dorset. We’ll come back again for sure.
Ryan Lister, the executive chef, is killing it here bringing the taste of Dorset England to the Well! My expectations were definitely exceeded, everything was done to perfection and the menu has some really fun takes, for example the fried melts, delicious! The vibe is elevated, but so is the food even though we are used to seeing similar foods in pubs, this was no pub food. I was shocked to see three different renditions of fries in the three mains we ordered, impressive. A favorite was the scotch egg but I loved ghe roast of the day as well. Don't skip desert the toffee pudding is amazing!
Crew of 3 came by. We all agreed that the fish & chips was the best. Not that the other plates were bad, but fish & chips for 3 will be our next order.
As someone who lived in England and hasn t had a Sunday Roast in over 12 years this was a welcome throwback. The Yorkshire pudding was fluffy and perfect. As was the steak and the roast potatoes and carrots! The atmosphere reminded me of an upscale pub and the open concept dining and kitchen was a fun experience.
The food is tasteless, the service unfriendly and overpriced. They overcharged us for a glass of wine and made us pay the wrong higher price. It is not worth it for the food, i couldn t even finish it it was so bad. The wine was not a good enough quality for the price either. Would not recommend.
Decor was nice but the service was awkward. It started off well enough but went downhill after that. Staff didnt seem to pay attention to customers and dirty glasses were piling up behind the bar. Just seemed sloppy and like they didnt know where to go next. We got a glass of wine and it ended up with a fruit fly in it. They very nicely replaced the glass but not long after another fly flew into that one also. This might be an indication of poor cleanliness. We didnt get another glass after that.
went in with my team for a holiday dinner and the place did not disappoint; very well put together, food was great (Brussel Sprouts app was amazing) and the vibe was classy and clean.
My friend and I had a lovely experience at this restaurant. We ordered the mushroom falafel which was so delicious and our fav dish. It was served with lentils on top and a delicious sauce. The drinks were phenomenal and the service was impeccable. Our server Dillon was very polite, made great recommendations and had a great sense of humour. We will definitely be back!
Was here for a company Christmas party and cannot say enough good things! I have food allergies and this place made sure that I was well taken care of. Would highly recommend!
Excellent food and execution by the chefs. The fish and chips were perfect, the curry katsu-esque was a surprise next to the usual tartar sauce. Crisps were nicely baked. Usually don t go for British but this was a very Canadian take without being too fusion. The salmon was cooked to perfection. On the other hand, I wasn t a fan of the beet risotto but that s a personal preference. Wish we had room for desert but we were stuffed after the main and falafel starter. There are happy hour drinks and apps before 6 pm. In terms of service, it was welcoming and attentive. Friendly and approachable. The decor felt like you were in a grand British estate. Would recommend and come back!
Such a great spot for a nice family dinner. Food was incredible, service was great, loved the decor/design of the place. It was a little expensive but worth it for the experience and quality of the food. Would happily go back for another falafel app and risotto!
Everything I got was good. Only thing fish and chips were too bready. Oysters were very fresh and amazing. Desserts were also good
Lucky to dine here while in town for the Taylor Swift concert! Started with a cocktail at the bar before sitting for dinner upstairs. Both spaces are beautiful and the experience was 5-stars from beginning to end. Food was amazing and service even better!
A Wonderful dining experience from start to finish. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, the staff are friendly and helpful, the food is out of this world. Well worth the trip to downtown.
Elevated British fusion. Loved every dish
Was in Toronto for a night and the Dorset came highly recommended. Needless to say we were not disappointed, from the greeting upon first arrival to the final bill. I would like to highlight that the scotch egg and rabbit cavatelli were particularly delicious. The dishes are refined yet approachable and worth every dollar spent. A trip to The Dorset will be memorable dining experience that will leave you wanting to return. I can say that I am already looking forward to my next visit.
I recently dined at Dorset at The Well in Toronto with friends, and it was amazing! I had the Rabbit Cavatelli as my main dish, which was delicious. The rabbit was tender with fresh cavatelli, sweet butternut squash and pumpkin seeds. The portion size was perfect. The service was excellent. The staff were friendly and attentive. The cozy atmosphere made our night even better. I cant wait to go back and try more dishes! Highly recommend!
Loved this place! Amazing decor, great spin on traditional British dishes and amazing service. Food
Came here for my birthday rude hostess /server we left. WILL NEVER COME BACK
The restaurant has a lovely ambiance with well-thought-out decor. The food was excellent, we had the cornish pasties, fish and chips, steak, burger, and cottage pie. All were well-prepared and highly enjoyable!
Had a fantastic dinner here the other day. Amazing food, drinks and service. They had an interesting and elevated take on British classics. Highly recommend the salmon and its caviar - it was exceptional
We visited for lunch over the weekend. The decor was nice, and the restaurant was quiet. We were seated by the window, and the host brought our menus and poured water for us. Unfortunately, that s where the positives ended. We ordered the Full English, a burger with chips, and fish and chips. The burger was average, and my friend thought the Full English was just okay. However, the $30 fish and chips were disappointing overly salty, with fish that lacked freshness and had a gritty texture. It seemed like it had been repeatedly thawed and refrozen. No one checked on us after our meals, and our glasses were only refilled after we settled the bill and left. Overall, the food was subpar, the service was lacking, and it felt overpriced. Kid-friendliness: They have high chair
Enjoyed absolutely everything about this place! The food and drinks were exceptional
Great staff, great food and very nice atmosphere
This is the best Restaurant so far in Canada that we have been to on our holidays. We went for Sunday lunch. The staff are so friendly and the food was excellent. The restaurant was lovely and airy and the tables spaced out so we didnt feel cramped. Great menu, great choice of drinks. Well worth a visit.
Ordered the Sunday roast and was blown away! The roast pork was luscious and it even came with the crispy crackling. It was my first time pairing apple sauce with roasted pork, and its now a must-have for me. The triple-cooked potatoes were shatteringly crisp on the outside & fluffy on the inside, and the Yorkshire pudding was the best crispy yet soft enough to soak up every bit of sauce, rounding off an unforgettable meal. Highly recommend!
The food was tasty though less traditional British than I was expecting. The tuna tartare was amazing, would definitely recommend. Cocktails are decent but lean a little sweet for my liking. It is a beautiful modern space, however it is all brought down by the disgusting smelling bathroom soap you would expect to find in a McDonalds, that awful creamy pink that stinks and lingers on your skin.
Came here yesterday and was shocked how badly our food was prepared. The hake for the fish n chips was bland and dry and not seasoned at all, the Halibut was very dry and overcooked, cottage pie again was bland, rabbit cavatelli was ok. Everything did look great when presented, issue was definitely the taste. Nothing was worth what we paid for and seemed like we could get better food at any other pub. Also, at 9pm when we were there, the lights were so bright inside, felt like a mall or cafeteria not a restaurant.
The pork croquettes, the smelts, the salmon, the sweet corn risotto paired with a fresh beer and a glass of côtes du rhône. This was what Andrea helps us to choose and was delicious, Thank you Andrea! We will go again for sure now to taste the Sunday s Brunch!
We had a fantastic evening, wonderful service by everyone but shout out to Andrew who took the time to explain in detail our wonderful dishes. We loved the (complimentary) soda bread with salted butter to start. The pheasant was spectacular, fish and chips so crispy and served with a curry dipping sauce. Highly recommend this place
Great date night out. We had reservations and sat in the bar area in the most wonderfully comfortable chairs, meant for long lounging. Stunning decor in the bar area and a completely different equally gorgeous upstairs dining room. The food was spectacular. The service was very attentive and to the point; but our server locked warmth. We didn t see a smile on his face until he was surprised by our generous gratuity. He has the raw material to be very good and earn a very decent income, but he needs to learn to put a happy face on. We will definitely be returning. This might be a new go to for me, I just hope for a little more warmth from our server next time.
Cozy space upstairs, Sunday Prime rib on point. Attentive staff. So cozy could settle into reading a book here.
we came here for thanksgiving - usually i dont like turkey but this turkey was so tender and juicy that i must leave a review. the yorkshire pudding and the veggies are perfectly cooked too. the pumpkin cake is delicious. we had salmon here several months ago, and their salmon was also cooked perfectly tender and juicy.
Second time at The Dorset. Perfect as always My hubby and son had fish and chips and cottage pie. Fab. Highly recommend Also just had their roast lamb. So flavourful. Staff so nice and we have become regulars for both dine in and take out Love ir Food
Such a beautiful restaurant located right in The Well. Have been a few times now and the food is always on point and amazing cocktails too. I had the cottage pie which was delicious! Don t skip out on the desserts either. Tried all of these last time I was there
If i could give a higher rating i would, this place is genuinely the best english fine dining food i ve ever had. Me and my partner live in Toronto and are originally from the UK, we come to the Dorset often, and have had an amazing experience every single time! My parents are visiting from the UK for my Dad s birthday and we came here for his birthday meal, the team at the Dorset made sure the entire night was perfect, they went above and beyond to make the night so special, i cannot thank the staff and kitchen enough (the mini colin the caterpillar was literally amazing), and would recommend this place over any other restaurant in the area. the food is on another level it s absolutely fantastic, and the service is so personal and just so lovely, thankyou to the whole team at the Dorset for making such a memorable night!
Loved the Dorset burger!
I definitely want to come here again, I ordered duck and it was incredibly delicious. I like the paintings on the walls, many different rooms, a traditional bar, this is the best place in Downtown if you want to experience a classic English atmosphere. Unfortunately there are no soups. I love reviewing interesting places in Toronto.
Incredible experience! The Dorset is one of the best kept secrets in the city. The food is exquisite and matched with impeccable service from friendly staff. They even accommodate for Vegans!! A++ Vegetarian options: Vegan and vegetarian options Dietary restrictions: Vegan
The interior was cute, I thought I would like it, but some details of the service made the experience unpleasant: 1. Some waiters, I am not saying all, did not treat man and women equally. Mostly only talked to man, and ignored women somewhat. Like they assumed guys are the host, the dominant, even though we actually split the bill, and it was the lady made the reservation. Also, putted the sharing dishes much closer to man, so far always from the ladies, like women do not need it. Even though they knew this dish was for sharing. Every time when they add water, they did it first to the man, and then the ladies. I am not saying ladies should be the first, but why EVERY TIME guys were the first, on many other things, too. I am not gonna list all the men first things happened in this dinner here :) Besides that, they have a little dessert for free which came with the bill. And they only gave it to men. I mean, I don t care about this free dessert, I rather you do not offer this dessert at all than ignoring ladies. If you do offer this free dessert, why only offer one and only to guys? I think the manner was obviously very rude. I haven t seen a restaurant like this for a long time. 2. When the waiter hung up my coat, she dragged it to the floor. My coat is very difficult to clean. Next time please do coat checking carefully.
The best fish and chips in Toronto by far. Great team. Andrew was a gem. Great spot if you want elevated British pub food. We came for our anniversary and it was pretty dang special. Food
Slow service. Gave drinks to wrong people. Gorgeous interior. Horrible outdoor patio furniture.
Lovely Experience. Had their Sunday Roast! Scotch Eggs for appies! Deliciousness galore. Huge portions. Super authentic, having sampled this a few times in other authentic places. The acot
They are new, despite it is owned by a large group, they still need to make progress . Waiting times for the food are too long. I guess they are not yet organized for Fridays or the week ends. The kitchen looks like has still some organization problems, food was also cold. One very suprising fact, the menu is so narrow, the choices are limited Gorgeous place, high ceilings etc but until they solve their service quality problems, mostly stemming from the kitchen operations ( waiters and especially manager are exteemly kind ) I would chose other ones more established with their kitchen operations. Price do not justify the food selection, and kitchen service, and quality. I am sure they will work on these as an exeprienced restaurant group but until then I will go with other choices, Le Select Bistro is fantastic across the street, La Plume ( same restaurant group ) has a better menu. No feedback from the management in 90 days
Beautiful ambiance. Solid food. The Scotch duck egg is particularly yummy.
Its expensive for what it is.....happy hour is def worth it!
Came here for brunch couple weekends ago with a friend. I got the full breakfast and a cappuccino, everything was amazing - highly recommend. Our server was super friendly and the manager even came out to chat a bit and tell us about their happy hour specials to check out. Will come back to try the eggs Benedict as it looked fire.
Been here for dinner before but recently came in for a pre dinner meeting for drinks and snacks during happy hour. Love their happy hour deal!
From an Irish person missing a bit of homey foods in Canada , this Sunday roast was amazing ! Service was excellent staff were amazing from as soon as you walk in the door ! I never usually have dessert but omg the solero dessert was unreal and happy hour drinks too I was loving life ! Will definetly be back here next Sunday
Wow what a building, The Dorset is absolutely stunning. We visited 3 times during our visit to Toronto. Our 1st visit was for drinks in the bar, a very comfortable space where I had a fabulous Aperol Spritz. My partner was particularly partial to the Guinness that he said was Gooooood Our 2nd visit was for brunch on the patio. We had the Eggs Benedict with perfect poached eggs and particularly delicious bacon, and a great Full English. The triple cooked chips we had as a side were crunchy and tasty. Really friendly and attentive service. The Dorset Martini certainly packs a punch. Our 3rd visit was for dinner in the spectacular upstairs Chesil dining room. The service was fantastic, and they couldnt do enough for us. We wanted to sample a few starters, so they cut them into 3 as we were dining with another friend. The homemade Treacle Rye Bread & Butter and the Wagyu Tartare were such a treat and the Waldorf salad is to die for. Mains of Mallard Duck Breast, Scallops and Lamb with the little delicious lamb hotpot were all scrummy. As we were celebrating a birthday the kitchen sent us a complimentary Chocolate Caterpillar Cake with a sparkler in. This was a lovely touch and nod to the English M&S (if you know, you know!) We also shared the Strawberry Trifle dessert, a delicate interpretation of the traditional version, and the Solero that is an absolute triumph. We cant wait to visit again next time we are in Toronto.
The Dorset serves British food in an elevated setting! The decor here shows attention to detail. We had a reservation on a Saturday evening, we chose indoor seating but requested a change to the patio after we saw it was quiet there. There are two floors and a large patio. Servers are so friendly here. Unfortunately we got a wobbly table, it took a while for the servers to come fix it. We ordered the Scotch duck egg, pork croquettes, cottage pie, treacle tart, and solero. The duck egg was served with a beet ketchup, it was definitely interesting. The Scotch egg was well seasoned, and on the salty side. The pork croquettes were topped with anchovies and cornichons - delicious and also on the salty side. The cottage pie was cheesy and well seasoned. The treacle tart was served with clotted cream, very authentic and tastes like molasses (if you dont know what treacle is) Solero was very sweet and small but refreshing. Overall the food is expensive for what it is, but well done.
I was excited to try the Wagyu tartare and eggs Benedict but left disappointed, especially given the price range. The tartare had an unexpected spice, not mentioned on the menu, which overwhelmed the flavor. The hollandaise sauce on the Benedict was barely noticeable, and the fries were grossly overpriced ($14!) for the portion size. Overall, I do not recommend and won t be returning.
Mediocre food for very expensive prices. Tasteless waste of food. Waited almost an hour, on a Wednesday, for food to be served for 4 people!!! 4 other people in the restaurant only drinking. No apology or at least a heads up from the manager or whatever he thought he was. They gave the scallops dish 50% off because the main dish composed of THREE scallops for $49. Nice interior. Probably a good place to have drinks when it s happy hour but wouldn t bother spending my money at this place again. Huge disappointment.
Beautiful atmosphere, incredible service and delicious food. Favourite was the cottage pie and the wagyu!
Full English is boss lad. Would like two pieces of fried bread if possible, black pudding is great needs a bit more salt and pepper imo. 4.5 stars for that.
Good food, service. The fish was fresh in the fish and chips. Not big portions and the music bit loud but so many options, will come back again
I called and told them I was 2 minutes away and could I please reserve a table or join a waitlist, they told me they had space and there was no need. I arrived within 2 minutes and they told me people arrived and occupied the free table, and would I like to join the waitlist. The wait was expected to be 15 minutes from this point. Really unprofessional management of the booking system.
It was dreamy .
First of all let me begin by saying wow, just wow like wow, honestly the atmosphere here is so great and relaxing . We had the steaK and fries and I might say it was delicious!!! Some white wine and some cool cocktails. I loved it
Such amazing food, service, and overall vibes! The interior design is so beautiful and the dishes definitely match
Great ambiance, good service. Good food but felt the appetizers were better. Mains underwhelmed a little. Great spot for drinks and appetizers
Nice new spot in Toronto if youre up for British cuisine. The fish and chips were delicious, especially with the curry dipping sauce, but other items such as the roasted scallop werent worth the price in my opinion. The sticky toffee pudding flavour is good, but needed more sauce and would have tasted better if it was served more heated. Service was extremely friendly, however in some ways, the dining experience feels like its trying to be more luxe than the food actually is.
Had some drinks this afternoon during happy hour. Good - Solid value cocktails, particularly the Mezcal based ones. Service from our bartender was great! Nitpicks - While the cocktails were good, they weren t particularly inspired. Would like to see some refreshed signature menu items next time.
Food was fun and the service was great. Will come back when in the vicinity.
I don t usually leave reviews but, this was a huge contrast to another restaurant just a few doors down. There was little to compliment about this experience. The initial cocktails for the table took far too long (25+ minutes and even water service was lacking) my entree of halibut was dry/overdone and the service was sub par. If it was a busy night this might explain things, but it was not. It s a lovely place, I just wish it lived up to the price.
This restaurant is difficult to find as its not really in The Well. Its on Wellington Street. It has a cute spacious patio. Happy hour items were a good deal with lots to choose from. Very tasty and enjoyed my non alcoholic G&T..The other menus also look good.
Great service by Andrew.
Such a beautiful restaurant with a wonderful staff. Andrew was really caring and the entire team took great care of our table. Also the fish and chips and the cocktails are fantastic.
Mediocre food, bordering bad, and for too much money. We had the halibut, lamb, and beef tartare. Very good service and nice atmosphere.
The patio was packed from happy hour so we had to sit inside but it s beautiful inside! The beer choices were fair but not broad enough. We had some nice beer bites here. The bread was delicious. I only took a star away because of the volume of the music. It was loud and did not fit the scene. Wheelchair accessibility: No stairs to get in.
We had the tasting menu and this seasons dishes had sour flavors which isnt my preference but it was still good. Food tasted fresh and well made. The night definitely ended on a sour note when the waitress commented on the tip we left. I would hope that for such a high price on their food that the staff would be compensated properly. Any tip at all should neither be guaranteed nor expected.
Amazing experience overall!
The lobster dumplings were to die for! There happy house half price wine and cocktails even by the bottle! Our server was Lionel he was so friendly and amazing!
If you love British food you have to check out The Dorset. I tried a Scotch Duck Egg for the first time and loved in. This spot is in The Well and they have a dog friendly patio so you can bring your fur baby too! Wheelchair accessibility: Very accessible
My recent visit to The Dorset was absolutely perfect The ambiance was amazing, especially the quirky artwork. The menu offered a a lot of unique items that you wouldnt see in other restaurants. Scotch Duck Egg was amazing Tamarack Farm Pork was very buttery I cant wait to go back!
$55 prime rib was more fat than meat. Horseradish was cut with yogurt, had zero flavour. Service was fine, plus one star for that. Did O&B get bought out by Cara Foods or something...? All their restaurants seem to suck now.
Disappointing food. Service was nothing to write home about. Decor was fantastic - why do the other elements not measure up? My pork dish was tough and contained lots of chewy bits, it was sliced so thin yet it didnt help. Not pleasant at all. It offered 4 thin slices however one was entire fat. I thought it might be the jowl part where you could get some texture but no, all fat and not edible. It also contained some string for good measure. I especially loved (sarcastically) the rock that was placed on top of the bill - that def was a head turner. Ive seen establishments of this calibre provide a sweet to weigh down the receipt, something complimentary.. but no, its a rock.
Our dining experience started off on a high note, but unfortunately took a sharp turn for the worse towards the end. We visited during Happy Hour on the weekend and thoroughly enjoyed the triple cooked chips and Cornish pasties. However, the scotch duck egg was a disappointment; it had an unusual sour taste that deviated from the standard scotch egg flavor profile. Things went downhill when we noticed an oversight at the bar. It became apparent that the bartenders were neglecting to wash their fruits and vegetables, particularly the cucumber used in cocktails. My girlfriend ordered a Pimms Cup, which arrived garnished with a sliced strawberry and mandolin-sliced cucumber. We shared our food and drinks throughout the meal and felt fine; it was only after consuming the strawberry and cucumber from her drink that I began to experience severe stomach pain within minutes. Lesson learned - I should have listened to my girlfriend and not touched the garnish lol! Regrettably, it seems that this lapse in hygiene led to a bout of food poisoning for me. I experienced vomiting and the other unpleasantries associated with food poisoning shortly after. My girlfriend, who consumed the same items and shared the same drinks, remained unaffected. Given that it was our first meal of the day, we believe the improperly washed produce was the culprit. While I chose not to address the issue with the staff on-site, it marred what would have otherwise been a pleasant dining experience. 7/2/2024 - Restaurant responded telling me to contact their team. I contacted their team to only not receive a response back. Seems like they do not care.
Visited The Dorset for a pre-concert meal and flight of cocktails. Incredible attention to detail in the service level and food. Service was impeccable from the front of house, bar staff and at our table. Pricing especially for the quality is reasonable. Recommended for a cocktail with friends, business meeting or for a nice meal before a concert or game. I enjoyed the Waldorf Salad and Cottage Pie. Delicious (although my bad for getting a comfort food like cottage pie on a hot July day). Thank you to the entire staff at The Dorset for a great experience.
The Dorset offers a dining experience that stands out from the rest. Located in the heart of the city, it boasts a captivating ambiance that immediately draws you in. The décor is a blend of elegance and comfort, with dim lighting and tasteful artwork creating a cozy, intimate atmosphere perfect for any occasion. Service at The Dorset is exceptional. From the warm welcome at the door to the attentive service at the table, the staff goes above and beyond to make you feel special. Our server was knowledgeable and provided excellent recommendations, ensuring that our dining experience was flawless. The food at The Dorset is nothing short of spectacular. Each dish we tried was a testament to the chefs skill and creativity. We began with the wagyu tartare & a scotch egg, which were perfectly cooked and paired with a delicious sauce. We then shared the lamb, pork and halibut for our main course. All were delightful, bursting with fresh and vibrant flavors. The cocktails and wine were also spot on and added to the wonderful evening. In summary, The Dorset excels in ambiance, service, and cuisine. It s a place that guarantees a memorable dining experience, making it perfect for any special occasion or a delightful evening out. Highly recommended!
Have been waiting for The Dorset to open its doors for some time it was well worth the wait! Every level of service was top notch, from the perfect martini at the downstairs bar before dinner to the absolutely incredible dinner and wine experience upstairs. The tartare with cheese quavers was a cheeky nod to English snacking, which we loved. Croquettes, Hake and Chips, mackerel and lamb next level. Waldorf Salad with that brown butter crunch made us all smile. We even had an incredible bottle of English wine! Can t wait to visit again next time we are back in Toronto. Thank you to the whole of the Dorset team for an unforgettable experience!!
We dined at The Dorset last weekend with a group of friends, and WOW, this restaurant blew me away. The ambience and decor is so unique and inviting, the service was impeccable, and every single dish we ordered was delicious! The meal very well could have been the best experience at a restaurant I ve had when I think about the flavors, service and care, ambiance, menu choices and overall quality of the dishes. Definitely will go back!
Got a taste of the British coast and countryside at the Dorset and absolutely enjoyed ourselves Here s a closer look at what we got to indulge in during our visit there: - Roasted scallop - Curried sweetbreads - Fried oysters - Salmon & it s caviar - Tamarack farms pork - Barbecued Lamb sirloin - Cornish Game Hen Kiev - Strawberry trifle - Sticky toffee pudding When I tell you each of these plates hit major flavours I mean it my favourite for the apps was definitely the scallops, so sweet and juicy and perfectly roasted I cannot pick a favourite when it comes to the mains I genuinely enjoyed it all lol the salmon was perfectly cooked and complimented perfectly with that delicious creamy caviar sauce! The pork was singing with those fresh roasted apple flavours, the lamb was so tender and juicy and the chicken kiev was so loaded and tasty too The desserts were the perfect end to our feast, absolutely loved the fresh fruity and light strawberry trifle and for something a bit more decadent their sticky toffee pudding is perfect They also have a happy hour drinks and bar bites menu that we took advantage of, the drinks we tried were all so delicious and hit different notes For something more tropical go with the sand banks and if you want something more luxe then solitaire is your go to! We tried a few more as well but those stood out to me lol Overall we left with lots of leftovers and happy bellies, thanks to our server April for the outstanding customer service and amazing recommendations we will be back They ve also got a summerlicious menu I believe so make sure to check them out y all This one is highly recommended
Went there for brunch. Try the Dorset Martini and the steak and chips.
Great service and beautiful dining room upstairs. The Wagyu tartare was was some of the best tartare Ive had in the city! Wheelchair accessibility: There is an elevator to the dining room and bathrooms are on the main floor
I would come here again! Food was very good, the cocktails in particular were a nice surprise and the place is gorgeous.
I went for dinner yesterday with my friends. The space is beautiful, as soon as you walk in you can tell the space was carefully designed and decorated. Lovely paintings and decoration across the restaurant. We were greeted by a pleasant host. We requested to sit in the patio since it was such a beautiful day. However, our request was declined as the host said that since one of the people of the reservation were already seated, they couldn t make any changes or moves. Our first friend who arrived didn t even ordered anything, so it was kind of confusing to understand the reason as to why we couldn t sit outside since there was space available. It seemed like an easy customer request that could have been fulfilled. Food was just OK. The portions are quite small and pricey. Wine selection is good but unfortunately the food did not match the restaurant s vibe and expectations. Portions are very small and were lacking flavour or main ingredients. For example, we ordered a steak that was supposed to have blue cheese, there was literally no blue cheese whatsoever. Small details like that are important, specially given the upscale vibe this restaurant has and the price point they have. I expected more. Service overall was good, but I don t think this place it s worth the money to be honest. I don t think I ll be coming back given that there are so many new options in the area.
This is a real gem. The most beautiful restaurant inside, with fantastic food and impeccable service.
Great atmosphere at Private Room. Best Service from Manager Andrew really patient and professional!
**The Dorset: A Taste of Authentic British Cuisine in Toronto** Nestled by The Well on Front Street, The Dorset stands out as a premier destination for those craving genuine British flavours in Toronto. As someone who grew up in the UK and went to school in Cornwall, I can attest to the authenticity and high standard of their culinary offerings. My recent visit left me thoroughly impressed, from the warm ambiance to the impeccable service and, of course, the outstanding food. **Ambiance and Service:** Stepping into The Dorset, I was immediately struck by its inviting ambiance, elegantly combining British charm with a contemporary flair. The staff, attentive and knowledgeable, made us feel right at home. Special mention goes to the manager, whose helpfulness and professionalism enhanced our dining experience. **Culinary Excellence:** The menu at The Dorset features a range of authentic British dishes prepared with meticulous attention to detail. We started with the Cornish Pasties, which transported me back to my days in Cornwall. The pastry was flaky and buttery, and the filling was rich and flavorful a true taste of home. Accompanied by a house-made ketchup that perfectly complemented the pasties, it was a stellar start to our meal. We also savored the Duck Scotch eggs, expertly cooked with a runny yolk encased in a crispy sausage meat and breadcrumb coating. The accompanying dip added a delightful tanginess, elevating the dish to another level of enjoyment. **Drinks and Dessert:** The drink selection at The Dorset is as impressive as its food menu. We enjoyed expertly crafted cocktails that balanced flavours beautifully, enhancing our dining experience. The attention to detail extended to dessert, where we indulged in traditional British sweets that rounded off our meal perfectly. **Homemade Touch:** One of the highlights was the homemade bread, which was a testament to The Dorsets commitment to quality and authenticity. Freshly baked and served warm, it was the ideal accompaniment to our meal and reflected the restaurants dedication to using the finest ingredients. **Conclusion:** In conclusion, The Dorset exceeded my expectations in every way. From the authentic and top-quality food to the warm hospitality and inviting atmosphere, it is a true gem in Torontos dining scene. Whether youre craving a taste of Britain or simply seeking a memorable culinary experience, The Dorset delivers on all fronts. I cannot recommend it highly enough and eagerly anticipate my next visit to savour more of their delightful offerings.
Great Fish&Chips, drinks and atmosphere. The team is very nice and responsive too!
Great service providee here! Food we only tried the hake, which was very different but it tasted good. Fries are really good but a small portion. Drinks are good and half off during their happy hour!
Beautiful restaurant, fantastic food. Really enjoyed everything about my visit.
Nice place with good atmosphere and good food. Our server wasnt aware of the bday celebration note we left on the reso which wasnt ideal. He asked the bday person if it was really their birthday so host staff, please relay any reso notes to the servers to avoid any confusion Food
Elevated British cooking. Great deals on happy hour 3-6. Never thought I d taste Peas this flavorful.
Beautiful space, good service and food. A new O&B classic.
I recently dined here and found the experience to be quite average. The cocktails and food were both decent, but the service left much to be desired. We had to wait 15-25 minutes for each food and drink order, which was quite frustrating. Overall, it was not the best dining experience.
Hmmmm. Food wasnt that great and the salmon image they flaunt so much isnt even on the menu. It s a new spot so i hope my review pushes them to improve. Shocked that the side salad with the burger was legit huge pcs of lettuce. no effort to even cut and make presentable. Idk this place is a fail for us. Sorry :((((
I dont know if its because Im by myself on the patio in the middle of happy hour but service hasnt been great, Im assuming because a single patron doesnt equate to a big tip but getting served is like pulling teeth to the point another server was observant enough to ask if I wanted another drink. Getting the bill has taken another 30 minutes after Ive already finished.
We came for the Sunday roast at lunchtime but we were also tempted by some of the appetizers.Firstly the atmosphere and rooms are beautiful and appealing. The server was very professional friendly and helpful. We had the soused mackerel, pasties and soup to start. The mackerel was fresh and perfectly prepared and the texture of the dish was amazing. The pasties were meaty, delicious and the pastry perfect. My wife had the soup which she said was silky with a subtle cheesy flavor. I had the roast pork belly with a yorkshire pudding side for main, my wife had the rump roast. Both were just perfectly cooked and presented and reminded us of home (we are from Dorset originally), like a great home cooked roast but with the flavors amped up and the cooking spot on.We had a wonderful relaxing time with our son and highly recommend this place.
The light and airy, coastal decor was so beautiful, and the big windows made for great lighting. The service was friendly, drinks were delicious, and the food was impeccable. The menu is really great if you are looking for something different. I could eat the Waldorf salad every day. Im already planning my next visit.
We order salad, oyster, pork - delicious, but fish was under seasoned. Other than that, wait time was a way too long, while they were not busy
A friend and I decided to try The Dorset as our first dining experience at The Well and we had a lovely time. The decor and atmosphere is 10/10, couldnt have designed a cooler interior. I wanted to take every painting and piece of artwork home!! Although the cocktails were excellent and the food was tasty (smaller portion size aside. Huge shoutout to that bread and salted butter though!), what elevated the experience was the service. Our server (Andrew, I believe) was clearly invested in not only providing wonderful service, but being personable, thoughtful, and ecstatic to share the story behind the dishes we were being served. His charism really added to the dining experience and made us feel like home in a luxurious feeling atmosphere. Thank you for making our dinner extra enjoyable!
The atmosphere was alright. It looks like it was based off of British pubs, so that was a plus. The service were nice but My server over-apologized for the delay in the food and it took about 20 minutes. When I finished my first drink a lady came and took it and didnt ask me if I wanted another. I got theyre a catch of the day, Which was a little expensive. The server didnt know what it was when we asked. All he knew was that it was scallops. Although that sounded good, when I received my plate, it was one scallop, which was very small, cut into 4 pieces, served under a bed of rice and peas. I was very disappointed and it tasted meh. My wife got her cottage pie, and although I do like beef pies, this one was subpar because it felt like they stewed the beef for too long, so all we got was mashed beef, which wasnt saucy enough, so it felt a little dry overall. Without appetizers and just one drink each, our bill came to about a $100, which might be the standard nowadays. For me, based on the overall experience, it definitely wasnt worth it.
Party of 3 came by for some food. Restaurant was 90% empty, which should ve been a sign but nevertheless, we stayed and ordered food. We got 1 Dorset Burger and 2 Full English Breakfasts and a drink for everyone. Nothing was wrong with the Burger but also nothing special. The 2 English Breakfasts were very mediocre at best. The eggs were ordered as over easy and came out over hard. The best part was the tomato on the plate. The sausage was dry and rather bland. The beans tasted like it came out of a Heinz can, and hard as if they weren t cooked. It s also odd that it s only 1 egg and half a slice of toast. The drinks were also mediocre and not worth the money they re charging for it. Regardless, the dining experience was pleasant, despite the food being subpar. Nothing bad regarding service and atmosphere, however, we definitely would not be returning and it s disappointing for an O&B establishment.
Every aspect of my experience at The Dorset was phenomenal. My partner and I each ordered the tasting menu, along with the wine pairings. The dishes were wonderful, featuring local ingredients and a coastal British flare. Each wine pairing was done carefully and thoughtfully. My favourite wine was the one that accompanied the sea bass, however the red that paired with the duck is a very close second. The atmosphere and service were both excellent as well. The art around the restaurant put a smile on my face multiple times.
I recently dined at The Dorset and had a memorable experience. The food was absolutely amazing every dish was prepared to perfection and bursting with flavor. The service, initially, left a bit to be desired as our waitress started out not being so friendly. However, by the end of the meal, her demeanor had improved significantly, making our dining experience more pleasant. The atmosphere of The Dorset is also worth mentioning its cozy and inviting, adding to the overall enjoyment of the meal. Overall, a great place for delicious food and a pleasant evening out.
Great happy hour 3-6. Cocktails were good. We liked the mezcal and rum combo. The falafels were our fav.
Just popped in for a snack, couldn t stop ordering! Devine.
There is so much to love at Dorset! From the quirky artwork, the different dining rooms, the service, and of course, the delicious food. We dined on the upper floor where a more elevated experience is offered (tasting menu available Wed-Sat) and was not disappointed. The prices are not bad for 2024 for the quality and taste. For a more casual experience, the dining room on the main floor (aka Dorset Bar), offers a more causal menu and I would definitely go back to try that at some point
Went for Fathers Day dinner and unfortunately had to wait over an hour for our food. At this point we asked about our food status many times and was told it was coming. A table who came after us got their food before us so we left. Very very disappointed. Not to mention the manager had no sympathy and basically couldnt care less that we were waiting over an hour for a simple meal... on a Sunday evening. So many other better options here at the well. This type of service is just not acceptable (for the price you pay too!) I dont recommend this place at all. Sooo many better options nearby.
We booked our table for 7.20pm and were seated around 7.15 - and till around 9pm our food never arrived. Interesting we saw the food that we ordered being served to another table who actually came much later. We had to walk away hungry ! Very disappointing experience !!!! Don t recommend anyone who want their food within half an hour
Favourite was the cottage pie and chocolate dessert. Food and service were amazing!
What a place! Beautiful decor, stunning food and wonderful service. The salmon dish is a must try, as well as the solero dessert - absolutely delicious. Cannot wait to visit again. Thanks to the team at The Dorset!
Worth the visit. This new restaurant has a lot of potential. Lovely space and friendly staff. We ordered the wagyu tartare, fried smelts, hake and chips as well as the shrimp and avo salad. 3 out of 4 were excellent. Must try the wagyu tartare - phenomenal flavours. Hake and chips, the Hake was crispy on the outside, flaky and delicate inside. The chips were huge I prefer to have it crispier but it was good. Smelts were delicious. The salad was a bit confusing kale was nicely dressed but then it was also served with a thinker rose sauce which didn t go well with the rest of the plate. Anyhow, I m curious to try more items on the menu.
My experience here was spectacular. Service was impeccable. I arrived knowing my guest would by at least 30 minutes late and not for 1 second did I feel awkward. The timing of everything was amazing. Jack our server quickly anticipated the delay and adapted. Knowing to offer me a drink while I waited with no pressure. The food was amazing. I sat in the bar but was also offered the upstairs menu just incase there was something off that menu that I felt like instead. First dates, old friends catch-ups or even business meetings this place intuitively provided an exceptional experience.
Food was mediocre, service was standard.
We reserved a table for 6 of us for lunch. Not a single complaint! From the drinks to the mains the experience was well worth the trip downtown. The roast of the day (chicken with curry mash), and catch of the day (Ling Cod with oyster/mussel chowder) were fabulous. The tuna tartare app was one of the best I ve had. Great selection of cocktails, beer and wine. We will be back. Thank you to Chef Rob and the staff.
Sat for dinner with 3 girlfriends on a Friday evening. Overall, the food was tasty and service was okay, I would eat here again. The portions were a bit small on some things. The cottage pie for example seemed more like an appetizer size than a main. I highly recommend the tuna tartare. I believe they recently opened and have some kinks to work out in terms of service. At one point we waited 15-20 minutes for our server to return to our table. Each time someone came around to fill our water glasses, they would interrupt our conversation to ask if we wanted more water which we thought was weird and a bit annoying. In higher end dining, just refill quietly when you see a water glass low. One of my girlfriends ordered a glass of wine and was brought a cocktail, which she did not want. The server said it would be trashed and asked if anyone else would like it so we said sure, you can leave it, but then she tried to charge us for it at the end. They bring your receipt on a shell, which is cute.. but we all laughed at how strange the rock on top was. A regular old garden rock. But of a weird touch to finish off a nice meal
Excellent dining experience. Thoroughly recommend a visit. Service was very good and the food in the upstairs dining room was exemplary.
Amazing mangalitsa pork, ham hock & foie gras tart and solera dessert at the second floor of The Dorset. There is lots of seating with attentive service. They also have happy hour with drinks and snacks half off from 3pm-6pm. Vegetarian options: Turnip and radish salad, cauliflower steak, triple cooked chips
Went there with friends for dinner. Booked downstairs...sat in the bar area. Great vibe. The downstairs dining area also looks amazing. Upstairs a bit more formal but very bright. They also have a private dining area. Cant wait till they open the patio or the upstairs patio room. Great cocktails menu. On tap Beer menu was limited...one English beer (Fullers London Pride) and no Cider. Bar, Downstairs and Upstairs menus offer great choices. The food was fresh, hot and very tasty. Great desert options. A bit of a twist on some classic English options. The staff were attentive and proud of this new restaurant. Had a great evening and will go back again.
Had a lovely time at The Dorset for happy hour - incredibly warm welcome and the service was outstanding. We very much enjoyed the smelts, scotch egg and tartare appetizers - very generous servings too. Lovely room and the patio will be terrific. We shall return! Wheelchair accessibility: Husband uses walker - excellent accessibility and kind help
The service was extremely slow
Nice atmosphere with traditional hake and chips and delicious mussy peas. I asked for a drink recommendation but the staff didn t seem too knowledgeable about the cocktails.
Had an amazing meal here. The food is definitely worth its price. My family usually doesnt like modern restaurants, however, the portion sizes and great food made all the difference. For being only 3 weeks old, this restaurant is operating at an excellent level! In some moments the service was a tad slow, however they were always very friendly and quick to address our needs. Will definitely (9 try more of the menu.
The food quality is mixed and the service leaves much to desire. Given the options in the area, the experience and price point, I won t be racing back. The interior is nice but it goes down hill from there. The halibut was quite most and tasty, but the Stargazy pie base was dry, the fish inside was overcooked and the smelts were very bad. Having lived in England, this dish was disappointing. The Resteraunt was about 20% full on a Saturday night but we still waited about 20 minutes for drinks. The service was not personable. Our server did not ask if we had been to the establishment before, did not build any rapport, and opened the window next to us on a cold night. We closed it and our server reopened it. Another server came by later and asked how we were doing and we asked if the window could be closed and he said we could do so then walked away.
New resto at The Well! 4 ppl- cocktails excellent, eggs benny great, hake and chips great- side of gravy amazing! 2.5 weeks open no hiccups or bumps felt. Will be back. Bar looks great- will be back to sit at the bar with bar bites
Great food and amazing service! Best new spot in the city right now. Staff overheard we were celebrating a friends engagement. And came out with a surprise gift for him. It s the attention to detail that makes this place special
We came here on a Sunday night and the restaurant was not too busy - the decor and vibe of the restaurant was really nice and comfortable. The servers were very attentive and friendly! The best dish of the night was the tamarack farms pork - the flavours were delicious and a good portion size. I was most disappointed by the lamb s portion size and flavour - it wasn t really there and a little gamey too.
We had a fantastic time at The Dorset. Knowing Chef Ryans pedigree, we were very much looking forward to this opening and it certainly surpassed all expectations. The beautiful interior takes you back to a British seaside country house. The food, of course was nothing short of perfect, and we had the luck of having Chef Ryan talk about some of his dishes. The soused mackerel was to die for. Crowned with a great service, our night was truly memorable.
Best fish and chips ive had in Canada. Also beautiful decor and vibe
The Dorset won t dissapoint you. Wellington street is so nice now here then what it was in the past. Restaurant is new. Staff is still learning but the manager knows his stuff. Food was amazing. Great taste on the tastebuds.
Hearty comfort food that s done up to impress. Love the ambiance here, it s upscale but still very cozy and welcoming. Would work for a quiet date night or a larger group - good vibe and you don t need to yell over the music. Stand out dishes at our table were the turnip and radish salad, roast of the day and the stargazy fish pie - will come back for the croquettes.
Excellent food and service! Loved the vibe
We love everything we had here. Highly recommended!
We started our dining experience upstairs and enjoyed watching the kitchen as we tasted the menu. The food was incredibly delicious and the presentation was beautiful. The Fried Oysters were amazing, the Roasted Scallop was cooked to perfection, and the Braised Beef Crumble was rich and savoury. The Wild Halibut was perfectly cooked and had a unique flavour that I had never tasted before. It was the winner for me! My friends and I had a great time, and we enjoyed sharing a lot of dishes. After dinner, we went downstairs and the bartender did an amazing job with our cocktails. You could tell he was having fun, which made for a great experience. I used to travel around the country opening restaurants and I know this one will succeed!
I had a delicious meal at The Dorset! What I liked the most was that while other nearby restaurants switch to a bar bite menu from 2:30 pm onwards, The Dorset still offered their brunch menu until late, which I appreciated. The ambiance when entering the restaurant gave off a very gentlemanly barbershop vibe, with all the servers sporting pomaded hair and wearing smart suits or neat dresses. The seating area we were directed to had a Harry Potter-esque feel to it. I often pay attention to restroom interiors when dining out, and even though The Dorsets restroom was unisex, it was exceptionally clean and each cubicle seemed well-maintained, so I didnt feel uncomfortable at all. We ordered the HAKE & CHIPS and eggs Benedict, both of which were delicious, but the portions were disappointingly small. The portion of the HAKE & CHIPS was especially lacking, but the chips that came with it were so tasty that we ended up ordering the TRIPLE-COOKED CHIPS later they were really delicious! When ordering this dish, be sure to also order beer its a perfect pairing! The smoked back bacon in the eggs Benedict was unexpectedly flavorful, and it was a bit disappointing that unlike traditional eggs Benedict, it came with grilled sourdough underneath, which paired really well with the smoked back bacon and poached egg. However, while the dish came with two poached eggs, there was only one piece of grilled sourdough, so it wasnt easily shareable. Oh, and the side salad that came with it was so delicious that I wanted to order it separately! The dressing had a unique flavor. Overall, our server was incredibly friendly, making it a very enjoyable dining experience! Im looking forward to trying out other items on the menu next time!
I visited The Dorset with my family for lunch right after it opened and found the whole experience fantastic. The atmosphere/decor is classy, the staff really attentive (and accommodating for my restless kids). Most importantly, we loved the food. As an Englishman living here in Canada, It was great to have some classic, authentic dishes (Roast of the day and Cornish Pasties anyone?) as well as some delicious cocktails - I recommend the Solitaire (comes with a unique playing card). We ll be back soon, for sure! Kid-friendliness: Good kids options like chicken nuggets and cheeseburgers but done with great ingredients and delicious for even my picky eaters. They have good kids colouring stuff too.
My siblings and I were in the area and were intrigued that it was English style cuisine - and honestly I am beyond happy that we chose this restaurant to try. Exceptional service from our server, and I ve read reviews about their cocktails being the best? They are. I ordered the Dorset Martini, smoothest Martini I ever had. I highly recommend. For the meals, I ordered the Catch of the day, which was halibut fish cake with slaw on the side - the fish cake was soft and flavourful, while the slaw was fresh and light, not too saucy or strong in acidic taste like other places. My sister got the roast of the day, and the lamb was cooked to perfection - so tender. My brother went for the all English breakfast, you can never go wrong will English breakfast. For dessert we tried the trifle, we were expecting it to be rich, but it was well balanced. Overall - we were incredibly happy with the food and service.
Amazing
I had a great experience at the Dorset with an amazing meal and a very friendly staff. We enjoyed everything we had and the place has an amazing ambience.
Beautuful restaurant, great food, great service!
We came here for a Mother s Day dinner! We had 5 people in total so we basically ordered everything on the menu. I was a bit surprised with the portion size. The fish and chip was small I was expecting the Sunday roast to be huge but it was just enough for one person. Overall the taste was good - just slightly on the saltier side.
Food is good , and all the server are incredibly friendly. I will definitely come back for more
Beautifully designed & decorated restaurant. Food was outstanding! Favourite dish was the soused mackerel.
Food and service was amazing! I definitely recommend trying it!
Amazing service and loved the falafels!! A must visit in the Well
What an amazing place in the heart of downtown! O&B is really doing an amazing job. Really liked the food and vibe! Food : 5/5
A very beautifully designed & decorated restaurant, fabulous food and great service! Dinning there is a wonderful experience!
Another 5 star restaurant from the O&B team. Great food, atmosphere and service. The cocktails are some of the best Ive had in the city.
The Dorset is a must visit. Exceptional food, delicious cocktails and very attentive service. You will not be disappointed!
Absolutely loved my experience at The Dorset! The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, the food was outstanding and the drinks were delish. I sat downstairs but took a tour of the restaurant and cannot wait to come back and try the menu upstairs! Thank you for a fantastic evening!
Had such a great lunch here! We were a party of 6 so we ordered most of the menu to try everything. Favourites included the split pea falafel, Cornish pasties, scotch duck egg and cottage pie. Our server was extremely knowledgable giving us recommendations to our taste. Can t wait to come back for dinner!
Went into the Dorset for some after work nibbles and some drinks. I loved the Skyfall cocktail and the pigs head croquettes were so good! Also, dont sleep on those triple cooked chips!
Such a great spot! Loved the chips, scotch egg and drinks
I took my family to The Dorset for lunch and they LOVED it! An amazing new spot for all British favourites! Food : 5/5
Great lunch experience! Drinks, Food and Dessert were delicious. Highlight to the dessert Solero, it was a delightful mango and passion fruit explosion.
Restaurant Review: The Dorset My recent dining experience at The Dorset was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we stepped through the doors, we were welcomed with comforting hospitality that immediately set the tone for a wonderful evening. The team at The Dorset went above and beyond to assist us in getting seated, especially with our young son in tow, making us feel truly valued as guests. As we perused the menu, I couldnt help but feel a sense of nostalgia as the flavors of the dishes took me back to my British roots. The crab and pea dish was a delightful starter that perfectly captured the essence of British seaside cuisine. The freshness of the ingredients shone through, and each bite was a taste of pure bliss. The beef tartare was a standout dish, beautifully seasoned and expertly prepared. The flavors were bold and well-balanced, showcasing the chefs skill and attention to detail. The salmon entree was another highlight of the meal, cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. Each bite was a testament to the quality of ingredients and the culinary expertise of the kitchen. To top off an already memorable dining experience, the elegant spin on the classic British trifle was truly remarkable. The layers of sponge cake, custard, and fresh berries were a symphony of flavors that left me wanting more. It was a delightful conclusion to a fantastic meal. Overall, my experience at The Dorset was nothing short of extraordinary, and I cannot wait to bring my family back to enjoy another fantastic meal. The combination of impeccable service, exquisite flavors, and a welcoming ambiance make this restaurant a true gem that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a top-notch dining experience.
Stunning new restaurant! The staff were friendly and very accommodating of my celiac allergy, I felt very comfortable dining. The food was unbelievable, I can t wait to try their brunch items.
Went for bar bites after work and it was amazing. Their cocktails were very tasty and they had some great bar bite options. Highly recommend this place.
I had an amazing experience at The Dorset! Food and cocktails were excellent and the service was warm and friendly. Can t wait to come back!
Best place that has opened at the Well so far! We will be back!
Recently opened restaurant in Toronto. Inspired by English cuisine, but no exactly offering traditional english plates. The quality of food was excellent, specially the hike and chips, which you can tell the fish is very fresh. I would recommend ordering 1-2 appetizers and one main per person for a meal for two people. Atmosphere was very tranquil, elegant and inspiring fine dining. Service was attentive at all time. Price is very affordable for the amount and quality served. Overall, a very good restaurant to enjoy fine dining in a growing area in Toronto, and a place where brunch seems to be tasteful as well.
Great place!
exceptional food, and welcoming service, made for a memorable evening
Loved.my experience at The Dorset! Food was delicious and our service was amazing. Will definitely be back!
We weren t event aware The Dorset was open yet. It s a good thing we walked by and doubled back. We walked in on a whim. To our delight, they had a table available. We were greeted by Mac, our server. He was immensely humorous. Read the room, felt our vibe and gave us such an incredible personalized experience. The scotch egg, the cocktails, the Guinness poured perfectly was absolutely on point. I told my wife, if you took a picture and told me this was a place in London. I would definitely believe it. Another absolute gem added to The Wells growing ambience. We loved it, and we will be coming back!
An absolute delight of a meal. From the fantastic food to the beautiful decor, every minute spent at The Dorset felt like cherished escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Fantastic food in an incredibly beautiful restaurant. Will be going back soon!
Such a great dining experience! The scallops, lamb and brown bread were exceptional. Will definitely be back again soon.
Had a great experience at Dorset! cocktails were phenomenal and the food was absolutely fantastic. the Wagyu Tartar is an absolute must. Servers were extremely knowledgeable on the food and beverage. A not so hidden gem in The Well. Dietary restrictions: Servers were extremely knowledgeable on the F&B!
The Dorset at The Well is an absolute gem in Toronto! From the moment you step in, youre greeted with a warm and inviting ambiance. The decor is stylish yet cozy, making it the perfect spot for a casual meal or a special occasion. The menu is a delightful mix of classic dishes with a modern twist. Each dish is beautifully presented and bursting with flavour. The Tuna Tartare was the best Ive ever had. I particularly loved their signature cocktails (we ordered the Lily Collins and Skyfall), expertly crafted and the perfect complement to the meal. The service here is exceptional. The staff is attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. They go above and beyond to ensure you have a fantastic dining experience. Overall, The Dorset is a must-visit restaurant in Toronto. Whether youre looking for a romantic dinner or a fun night out with friends, this place has it all. I cant wait to come back and try more of their amazing dishes!
Definitely my new favourite brunch spot!! The falafel was to die for. Loved the ambience and the service.
Had an excellent experience here. Honestly, when you think about British food, you dont expect anything too flavorful or creative, but this place just smashes those stereotypes to the ground. I was really blown away. I had the turnip and radish salad to start. Very fresh, crisp and the granola was a delightful surprise. A unique way to add texture to a salad that was actually really lovely. For my main, I had the califlower steak - also excellent. Earthy, flavorful and surprisingly filling. For dessert I had the custard, which might have been the best part of the meal. A bit flakey and messy to eat but incredibly delicious and obviously made in-house. My friends had the wagyu tartar and said it was incredible. They also had the pork and strip loin, also giving it 5/5. I look forward to coming back again and trying something new. Ambiance is also elevated but relaxed, making for a great date-night spot. *chefs kiss*
Amazing dinner Saturday night at The Dorset. Such a beautiful space as well. Must try the fried oysters!
Good food, good vibes - beautiful space!
Came for dinner with my family in the upstairs dining room - the coastal chic design is the perfect setting for a relaxed, elevated dinner. To start, we shared the wagyu tartar, soused mackerel and roasted scallop. The roasted scallop was definitely a stand out - the large scallop came carved, and the charred cabbage and creamy cucumber sauce added so much texture and flavour to the already-sweet scallop. For mains, I had the King Salmon and Its Caviar - the salmon so silky and buttery, and the potato pancakes paired perfectly with the texture of the salmon. I just wish the sauce was a touch more reduced, but still delicious. My family got the Black Angus Striploin and the Wild Halibut. All dishes were delicious and thoughtfully plated, which we all appreciated! For dessert, we ordered the strawberry trifle, the solar and rhubarb and custard. The attention to detail was charming and delightful, and my favourite type of dessert - not to sweet ! Cant forget to mention the friendly and attentive service :) Can t wait to swing by again!
One of the greatest dining experiences the city offers!! Amazing 11/10
My husband and I went for dinner in the upstairs dining room before a show. The food is outstanding, the staff is incredible and it has a wonderful atmosphere. Chef Ryan came to our table with delicious bread and organic butter with sea salt from Dorset, England where Chef Ryan is from. Each dish was explained to us. Between the two of us, we had the roasted scallops, BBQ lamb sirloin, the wild salmon, strawberry trifle, solero, and rhubarb and custard. Everything tasted great and all of the staff were friendly. We are looking forward to going back.
Delicious cocktails and somewhat creative take on traditional British pub-type food.
