My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our delicious dinner with amazing service. Lily is the amazing chef and owner of The Spicy Ethiopian which is a great addition to the neighborhood. Cant wait to eat downstairs where it looks so cute and cozy. Thank you!

I ve always wanted to try Ethiopian food, but found it hard since I have a nut allergy. However, The Spicy Ethiopian has no nuts in their menu, making it super accessible for someone with my kind of dietary restrictions. Super friendly staff and owner, making you feel at home. Food is a must try!!

As an Ethiopian, I always struggle to find aesthetically pleasing Ethiopian restaurants in Toronto. While the food might be nice, I often don t feel like sitting and eating at most places. However, This place has my heart Hands down to the cutest, coziest, and cleanest little Ethiopian restaurant in Toronto! The food is absolutely amazing, and they probably offer the best customer service I ve ever experienced at any Ethiopian restaurant. Just go and experience it for yourself, you ll love everything about this place! Try the traditional honey wine as well among with your meal!

What a delightful unexpected gem. My partner and I dropped by for a meal last night and left with full bellies and hearts. The owner Lily whipped up an incredible Ethiopian meal. We shared the vegan and meat platter which were both SO delicious that we re still thinking about them. Lily came out personally and chatted with us; she is beyond warm and lovely. The service was 10/10. Nestled across from Moss Park, the restaurant was nothing short of inviting and cozy. Felt like I was comfortably enjoying a home cooked meal. I wish Lily so much success and I can t wait to come back. Thanks for having us

The team running this restaurant was absolutely amazing! They hosted my friends and I for a great dinner - the food was perfect and drinks were great too. They re super accommodating and can adjust for many different dietary requirements as well. Definitely coming back here soon!

We are visiting from out of town and when we told her how hard it was to find different varieties of food back home, we were given a care package so we could make some delicious Ethiopian at home!

Can t believe I forgot to submit my review for this amazing Ethiopian Restaurant! My family and I travelled to Toronto for a photo shoot and decided to eat here for lunch. We are Ethiopian/Eritrean ourselves and usually stick to the Danforth/Bloor for habesha food but saw this place recently opened and decided to give it a try. Soooo happy we did! The service was amazing, never had an appetizer at any Habesha restaurant but we did here and loved it! The main dishes Tibs and Kitfo was sooo flavorful and delicious my family and I were so satisfied and absolutely intend to come back if we re ever in the city again. The owner was very sweet too making this place an even more special treat.

Cozy, inviting and intimate spot on Queen East. The flavours in the mixed vegetarian dinner were bright and fresh, and while the portion isnt huge it is satisfying and filling. This is the best Ethiopian food Ive had in Toronto since Ethiopian House on Irwin back in the day.

After trying several Ethiopian restaurants in Canada and U.S, our meal here was hands down the most delicious! We had a vegan and a meat combo, everything was perfect. The decor is gorgeous, and the service kind and welcoming. We will be back!

Our nonprofit board had the best working supper meeting last night at The Spicy Ethiopian. Bravo to Lily and her team who treated us to amazing hospitality. My sister and I stopped by for dinner and had an absolutely wonderful experience! The food is incredibly delicious- we shared their vegan sampler and nech tibs- such a perfect meal! Service was so kind and welcoming. The atmosphere was top-notch, beautiful decor, calming lighting, and great music. We can t wait to visit again.

This place is a must if you want to try or are a fan of Ethiopian food! Lilly who is the owner and chef of this establishment is one of the warmest kindest hosts I ve had the pleasure of patronizing in this diverse city of Toronto. The food is not spicy however if you can t handle spicy at all Lilly can make you amazing dishes at request, that being said the work and effort she puts into the more traditional dishes that take hours to make it would be a crime if you don t at least try them! and yes they really are that good! Vegetarian options: Ethiopia is known for their vegan cuisine so literally half the menu is vegan and delicious. Ethiopia is one of the few places I wouldn t mind being vegan, they don t try to make veggies into meat substitutes they just make really good veggie dishes.

I just ordered the shiro wot for delivery (I live quite far) and it was absolutely delicious. The presentation was adorable, both the shiro and injera were delicious, and as it was the only thing I ordered, it was the perfect portion for one. Excited to try something else from here again or the shiro again, I won t be able to resist.

I am always down to go to an Ethiopian restaurant. I went there on the Ethiopian new year and there were these nice ladies that came in dressed in traditional dresses and started singing. I had a good time.

I have never experienced Ethiopian fare before. The staff went over the menu, we got the meat and vegetarian share plates. The meal is served on a Delicious teff wheat, Injera bread like base and eaten with the hands and hand fed between friends! So charming

I was told by a stranger that when I go to a big city I MUST try Ethiopian food. Boy was he right!!! This was the MOST flavourful and wholesome food, the vegetarian and vegan options packed such a punch you wouldn t even know you had no meat, and the chicken??? FANTASTIC!!! I tend myself to be on the weaker side with spice, but this spice packed so much flavour, it had a slight heat but much more enjoyable and palatable then your typical spicy food . I d say more flavour than spice. getting the vegan and meat share platters are the best way to try it all. 10/10 would recommend. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free!! Vegan and vegetarian options

So happy to discover an amazing new Ethiopian restaurant! We ordered the meat combo and the vegan combo, and everything was delicious. (And I mean every single thing.) Such a hidden gem in the city of Toronto. Me and my husband both love Ethiopian food but this place has so far the best Ethiopian food we ve ever tried. The owner/chef is the most lovely person who shares her passion and love for food with us and gave us some really amazing suggestions. We ordered meat lover platter and a sunflower seed drink, both are very unique and absolutely delicious. We will come back again.

The food was delicious and its presentation was beautiful. The chef was very helpful in explaining the various dishes and their spice levels to us. Its an intimate restaurant with lovely decor, comfortable chairs, and quiet ambiance. The service was impeccable. Also, we were not rushed but were allowed to sit and chat for quite a while after finishing our meals. Ive eaten Ethiopian food at other restaurants and I found this one to be the best. What a find, well definitely be back!

Best Dora Wat! I have had Ethiopian food in LA, Washington DC, Dallas, Houston. This is the best! Very reasonably priced. Owner makes it all herself.

This is the best Doro Wot I have had. The spice on it is rich and flavorful. I have had many different Doro Wots across the States and this is the best. The lamb and beef tibs are very good too. She cooks very traditionally and that makes a load of a difference.

Food was very flavorful, rich, and (not surprisingly lol) spicy. Very intimate and modern elegant ambiance, and friendly service. My only suggestion would be to serve slightly larger portions. The portions were still reasonable for the price, but had they been a little larger (even for an extra dollar or two) it would have been a really memorable feast.

I came here for dinner with my girlfriend on July 21st I believe? It was my first time eating Ethiopian and I was very impressed. Not just the food itself but the experience that comes with it. The service was perfect and the restaurant itself is very clean and beautifully put together. I would recommend giving this spot a try.

The food here was so good! Its a brand new restaurant, and very cozy inside. We got a vegan sampler mixed plate and it was delicious. The service was excellent and the owners were so nice and friendly. They opened the restaurant after running a food truck. They even gave us a sample of the lamb curry, which was so good. Highly recommend and well be back!

A hidden gem! We got a vegan sampler for two. All dishes are great (especially the split pea stew to the left), but well-balanced to create a very wholesome meal. The injera is mellow and not overly sour (we got the regular injera though I found gluten-free injera tends to be more acidic which some people might not enjoy as much; they do have it on the menu though). We were surprised by an appetizer that came before which was two crispy injera with dipping sauce that looked like it came out of gourmet restaurant (not in photo). Overall great atmosphere and great service too. Vegetarian options: Excellent variety: its Ethiopian food after all!

After reading great reviews online we knew we had to visit. And oh my god it did not disappoint! The head chef/owner was there and gave us the most incredible hospitality. We had the vegan platter for two and came super hungry, it was beyond delicious, and even left with some leftovers! After our lunch she offered us coffee which she roasted the beans for, and was amazing. I can t say enough good things about the quality of the food & the hospitality- you can tell how much she loves to cook & share her cuisine!

We came as a group of 4 and shared the vegan platter for 2 and meat lovers platter for 2. The food was DELICIOUS, plentiful and reasonably priced. The chef was so lovely, and she has a great vision of introducing Torontonians to a wider variety of Ethiopian cuisine than we re typically exposed to. I can t wait to come back!! Such an authentic place to enjoy Habesha meals. The owner is friendly and respectful. The house has a natural refreshing woody look up to the washroom and a unique way of serving the meal. I had Kitifo and it was good.

Craving for our home country food, my friends and I visited this restaurant during our short stay in Toronto. We were happy to find a relaxing atmosphere in the restaurant and were welcomed with warm smile . The food... was fresh, well spiced, and tested amazing. We got the vegan foods since everyone was vegan and the place provides multiple options for vegan/vegetarian food. We enjed each flavor of the nine foods that we tested In addition to the amazing food, we were surprised and amazed by the details that were put for delivery service. Randomly passed by this restaurant during one of our evening walks, and the decor caught my attention. Never had Ethiopian food before, but it s so delicious. So glad we discovered this new place! Perfect date night spot.

Had the opportunity to eat at this new restaurant and the place was amazing. The service was impeccable. I love the new feeling of discovering a really new and nice place with great food and at a fair price. Ive eaten Ethiopian food all across Canada and the US, but I love the spicy Ethiopian more than any place else. I recommend it to anyone who loves great food, increadible atmosphere, a nice owner and a good time.

My husband took me here for lunch because hes been wanting me to try Ethiopian food and Im so glad he did!! It was SO delicious, I enjoyed every single bite. We got two entrees to share (one chicken and one veg) on one plate and it was the perfect size. I was nervous about the spice (I dont do spicy) but we asked for mild and it was barely spicy, just a hint which was perfect. The women who worked there were so kind and the chef/owner was super enthusiastic and eager to talk about her food, which I loved. She even gave us a sample of something new she was trying! Ambiance: The restaurant has a cozy and authentic atmosphere with traditional decor and Ethiopian music, creating a warm and inviting setting. Service: The staff were very friendly and attentive, offering helpful explanations and recommendations. Food: We started with Doro Wat, a deliciously spicy chicken stew. The soft, tangy injera was perfect for scooping up the dishes. Drinks: We enjoyed aromatic Ethiopian tea, which complemented our meal wonderfully. Overall the Spicy Ethiopian exceeded our expectations with its excellent food, service, and ambiance. We highly recommend it and look forward to returning soon!
