Wild Chicory in Toronto

We enjoyed our night here found this place cozy and down to earth but with also some flare. We found the owner more passionate and engaging when discussing the menu and dishes. We found the rack of lamb extremely successful, cooked to perfection, juicy with a nice crust, and the parsnip puree was lovely. The lobster & scallops over a crispy rice and bisque pour was elegantly presented like a painting, I appreciated the creativity of the dish, although the scallops were overcooked. They also had a few options for desserts but alas we will need to come back with more space in our tummies next time for that.

Great neighborhood restaurant with nice atmosphere and service. Menu iincludes the well executed standards and a couple of seasonal specials (in our case). We had the non-alcoholic negroni, omg, amazing. We will be back.

Cozy place with lovely food.

We had our dinner at Wild Chicory tonight. Everything was fantastic. The restaurant was cozy. The food was delicious. My favorite dish was duck. The owner came to my table and gave us his recommendations. Our server was lovely, welcoming and attentive. Our family had a great time. We will be back.

We went for my sons birthday last night. Best Paloma cocktails, food was sublime . Yes try the calves liver, not how your mum made it! Great atmosphere and the owner Tony obviously cares. Highly recommend

Intimate and cozy restaurant with very good food and excellent service. Alexandria was an amazing server who did everything with a smile.

Food was very good, beautifully presented and excellent. HOWEVER ! My wife made reservations and was asked if there is an occasion, and she said yes, wedding anniversary. We arrived , got seated and thought even just comment to recognize the occasion would be nice...nothing. Service was ok, servers were pleasant and tried very hard...it was busy. I was disappointed in my appetizer, bison tartare...meat was had cut, but very uneven and gristle on the bottom...taste was good, preparation seemed sloppy ,presentation was very nice...We will go back for second try, especially when I went in to enjoy Venison Tomahawk steak..( was not available this day ). Overall good food , but hospitality and service not there , just not paying attention to details...did not even get thanks and good by when leaving.

This is a wonderful gem. Walked past so many times, always thinking we must pop in. And so glad we did. The food was splendid. The service stellar. Really lovely space. We loved every moment. Well be back (again and again ... and again)

We had a really tasty dinner, dinners actually. The duck breast on mashed potato with Tahini sprouts was mouth watering. The gnocchi definitely homemade rich and tasty. A real Cesar salad. Not covered in thick store bought dressing with lovely bits of pancetta. Service was fun and let us eat and talk. We will be there again soon

Overall...The food experience was very good. But the reason for our visit was to celebrate wedding anniversary which we noted on our reservation and wanted to enjoy their venison dish. Venison was not available and no interest of our reason to visit. Restaurant was getting busy and service was scattered all over the place. The food we had was nicely presented and very good...except the bison Tartare appetizer . Meat was not cut up properly and found grizzle at the bottom...should be tenderloin cut which does not have this grizzle. Disappointing. What was missing is the hospitality and attention to guests. Our server was very nice and she tried hard. After paying we left and did not get any thank you for coming or good bye...

Found this place on OpenTable when looking for places in the midtown area and tried it for the first time tonight. Wow! It did not disappoint. The food was unbelievably flavourful from the apps to the main, service was super quick and friendly, and atmosphere is ideal for date night or group gathering. You can tell they take pride in what they do, we will be back again soon!

Went with my partner today, and it was spectacular. The atmosphere had a warm feel, when we walked in we were greeted by our waitress and the owner, and they were lovely. We had the burrata and Ceasar salad. Boy was it delicious we got the short rib gnocchi and tomahawk and both were delicious. We can t wait to be back to try the other things on the menu.

Husband and I had a wonderful dinner here. The food is excellent, service was friendly and helpful. Atmosphere felt very cozy and warm. Another thing, we did not feel rushed, like we needed to eat and run. It felt like we could stay and really enjoy the food and take our time. Will definitely be returning to try other dishes!

My fiancé and I dined here on Valentine s Day, and we were quite impressed! The waitresses were very attentive. The menu had a great selection of delicious dishes, as well as cocktails! The owner (Tony) picked an awesome red wine from California for us which was great too. We are definitely going back for some more tasty dishes!

Disappointed. Came for my birthday which wasnt acknowledged. Wait staff seemed rushed and didnt give off a welcoming vibe. But obviously I came for the food and it did not do the reviews on here justice. Asked for a medium bison steak, got medium rare, my friend got the medium rare and looked more like rare. Would have been fine with that but the meat was a little tough unfortunately and not very flavourful. The side it came with was under-salted. The sauce saved the dish but for the price the main elements should have been more elevated. Lobster ravioli was a very small dish for the price ($40 for 5 or 6 pieces) and lacking in lobster flavour, honestly could hardly tell there was lobster in it, no chunks of lobster more like mashed up? Sauce for this was also underwhelming. The tiramsui arrived as if someone dropped it and then threw it on a plate, not pretty...but tasted pretty good. Overall wouldnt come back.

Wild Chicory is a (not so hidden) gem in the Mt Pleasant-Davisville Village area. The food is beautifully presented and is absolutley delicious. Its warm and inviting atmosphere make it a unique spot that could play host to many occasions, whether that be a date, a casual buisness dinner, or a night out with family or friends. I went to Wild Chicory for the first time on the recccomendation of my brother. He insisted I try the bison tartar, calling it the best tartar in the city after he and his collegues had been on a tartar tasting of 15 restraunsts around Toronto. I had mussels three ways, and have not had mussels that good since I was in Nova Scotia in 2022. We both had the burger, which was cooked perfectly as per my instructions. Wild Chicory is a wonderful addition to the Mt Pleasant/Davisville scene. The owner is usually behind the bar, and is always happy to chat. Hands down the best dinning experience Ive had in months.

An excellent varied menu. We were a party of two on a Saturday night and had the octopus and cod for mains. Both dishes were fresh and delicious, but the pistachio cheesecake stole the show. Service was great. Wild Chicory is a true hidden gem in the neighborhood and I wish I had visited earlier!

Had an incredible night thanks to the welcoming staff at WC. The X (mystery) cocktail was divine. Both Seans (server and head chef) were super attentive and only had incredible suggestions. The Striploin and Bison were tremendous. A must visit for anyone in mid town.

Absolutely amazing food. Gone here several times over the past few years and it s always been a great night out for cocktails and top-notch dinner! The owner is really personable and clearly cares deeply about the restaurant, it shows in the food and service. Looking forward to my next visit :-)

The flavours of the Seoul chicken ($16) were decent a combination of sweet, sour, and spicy but could use more gochujang for heat and less rice vinegar as it was a tad tart for my taste. Crispy and juicy, these would have been even better if it arrived hotter. My husband hypothesized that the chicken likely got cold as they were waiting on the rice nuggets in the crispy pork belly ($17). Indeed, they were searingly hot, very crunchy and addicting the best part of the dish. Disappointingly, the pork belly wasn t actually crispy. Perhaps it s because the big chunks of meat are difficult to render and the dish would be better served as slices so there s a larger surface area. More likely, there could just be too much hoisin sauce covering everything, which I did find overpowering and would have worked better smeared on the plate so diners can adjust the amount they want on the pork. The problem with such strong-tasting starters is that the mains feel bland in comparison. A special that evening was the beef rib ($28) that was prepared to tender but not too soft. However, a thick piece of beef needs liberal seasoning to permeate into the meat. When I was having it au natural, it tasted plain. Luckily, the dish did come with a creamy sweet corn bisque and barbeque sauce, two things to dunk the beef into. What impressed me most were the sides, a light creamy potato salad that was bursting with flavours and a crispy and fresh coleslaw. In the coast to coast ($38), only the scallops were seasoned perfectly, the bit of salt enhancing the beautifully crusted seafood that arrive just cooked through. The salmon was okay, not overly flavourful but at least had a lovely crispy skin. If it was done a touch less it d be even better since the dish doesn t come with a sauce and the fish tends to dry out quickly. Meanwhile, the leek and pea barley was too mild and so over powered by the lemon foam that it started having a bitter undertone. Perhaps, it could have been saved with salt. Maybe I was lucky I didn t finish the barley as it left me room to share Wild Chicory s tiramisu ($12), it was delicious the perfect balance of soaked lady fingers and mascarpone laced cream. Shaving chocolate on top was a nice touch, but I d still add a touch of cocoa powder as its bitterness would better balance the dessert. Consequently, the tiramisu s sweetness did go particularly well with an espresso martini ($17), which had a slight bitterness that diluted the sugariness.

Decent place to hang out for drinks and an afterwork snack with friends or colleagues. The food is tasty, but our appetizers came out cold, and we were only 1 of two tables who were seated. Mains also seemd to sit for a good amount of time before making its way to our table. This boils down to service being just ok...Friendly and professional staff, but just not a ton of experience it seemed for a good flow for this type of restaurant. When it came to pay, there was a long delay as it seemed only 1 point of sale device working. I really like the atmosphere, but a few things to work on. We will return and I anticipate it will improve.

We had a wonderful dinner at Wild Chicory last night. The food was delicious and service was exceptional, the owner was there and he was very welcoming and we had a wonderful time. The menu has a lot of options, we had oysters, salmon, scallops and cod , so lots of seafood options there. We loved everything, didn t get to dessert but pistachio cheesecake sounded very yummy. We also enjoyed the ambience inside. They have a patio but it was nice and cool inside and felt better to stay inside on a hot evening. Will definitely be back!

Wild Chicory is an amazing restaurant with exceptional service, delicious food, great atmosphere, and absolutely the best owner, Tony. After dining there the first time, we were able to talk with Tony and set up a private lunch event and he was extremely gracious and accommodating. It made for the most wonderful experience and we look forward to dining at Wild Chicory regularly. All of our guests loved it too and said they were looking forward to visiting again! I cannot recommend this restaurant more... it is the flawless combination of amazing food, service, and atmosphere, with an absolutely lovely owner and staff! Thanks Tony, and we look forward to coming again soon!

I regret taking so long to try this place cause the food is stellar! I got the octopus croquettes and watermelon salad to start, and the coast to coast as my main. Everything was plated beautifully and tasted delicious, especially the coast to coast, which was the highlight for me. We also had the crème brûlée trio for dessert which hit the spot and was great for sharing. My only criticism is that the pave potato as a side was smaller than I expected. Service was quick and courteous, no complaints there. We ate in the dining room which was warm and inviting. Prices are fair for what you get. I would call this a neighbourhood gem and I will be back! Kid-friendliness: High chairs available. No kids menu.

Wild Chicory has quickly become a staple of mine. It is a midtown gem. Very kind staff and extremely fresh food. I ve enjoyed every meal I ve had - always full of flavour and it s evident that the ingredients are high quality.

I brought my 2 month old and they gave us the front table which had room for the stroller and a bit more privacy. I really enjoyed all of our drinks and food. Service was wonderful too. It was my second time but the last was 3 years ago. Our third time definitely wont be too far in the future! Dropped by for dinner where I ordered the seared scallops appetizer, short rib gnocchi and a hibiscus lemonade. Everything was really delicious and the service was very welcoming. I can t wait to come back to try out items from the menu. Would definitely recommend making a reservation as this restaurant seems to get busy on the weekend, even early on for a 6pm dinner.

What an amazing hidden gem! Everything was delicious and the staff were awesome. We had the sourdough, beet + goat cheese salad and I had the short rib gnocchi. Soo good. The cocktails were great as well. I can t wait to go back!

This is definitely a hidden gem. The food is phenomenal and they have a good selection of wines and cocktails. The atmosphere is cosy and a bit casual in a good way. My favourite to go to when I want to treat myself or someone else!

Wow! What an experience - Tony, the owner, might be one of the warmest and most welcoming people you ll ever meet. Their fall menu is incredible - our spread consisted of the Bison Tartar, Beet & Goat Cheese Salad, Venison Tomahawk, Bison Sirloin, Short Rib Gnocchi and Fog Island Cod. As you can see from our plates, the food did not disappoint!

We booked this place late on a Saturday night and were honestly surprised with the service and quality. The place is decorated in a rustic yet chic manner. We ordered the burger, the lamb and ravioli, which all deserved 5 out of 5. Portion were big and appropriate to price. We d definitely come back.

While strolling a nice spring evening in search of a bite we were so fortunate to come across this gem of a restaurant. We received exceptional service from our server Victoria and dish after dish was presented beautifully. Everything was delicious. Highly recommend the cod.

What a Fathers day treat! Wild Chicory is a true staple in Davisville village. Everything was on point from the drinks, the Himalayan Margaritas are a must try. The apps are so flavorful the octopus croquettes were just fantastic. For the main, the grilled octopus with chorizo, the AAA Burger and the Fogo Island Cod all done to perfection. The chefs choice deserts are divine especially the raspberry white cholate truffle cheese cake with mint...oh Mama!...To cap it off the service is just phenomenal. When in mid town this place is a must visit!

What a lovely place for dinner! Exceeded my expectations fully. I took someone to celebrate their birthday. We each got a cocktail, appetizer, entree, and shared a dessert. The cocktails were wonderful. We had the salmon tartare and fish cake to start, cod and bison as entree, and tiramisu. Every plate was wonderfully presented and delicious. Will definitely return.

Superb food, superb steak tartar, superb bison steak, superb service, superb everything. A must try.

Exceptional service, delicious and high-quality food, glorious drinks! At first, I fell in love with the design - that brick wall with a watercolour chicory is a must to take a photo of. Then, we came for dinner gosh where do I even start I loved the variety of options, from something fun like a compressed watermelon salad (it s like eating summer) to something traditional like mouthwatering Caesar, from the freshest oysters paired with their unique New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc to intriguing bison that you ll try once and will always come back for. The list of not-your-usual-boring-cocktails is mind-blowing! The ingredients they use are fresh and simple, yet the dishes feel so multilevelled and sophisticated. Now, the service I can go on and on about how above and beyond the staff (and the owner!!) will go to make sure you have the best time. So, ya, we did have our wedding at Wild Chicory, and ALL our guests came to us to say how AMAZING the service was! Many many thanks to Tony, Cora, Alex, Shawn, and the rest of the team who made our wedding day unbelievably wonderful and surrounded us and our guests with care and lots of deliciousness! If you haven t been to Wild Chicory, you re missing out big time!

Went here tonight for the first time with my husband. Highlights for me were the oysters and steak tartare. Cocktails were all fantastic ESPECIALLY Aunt Hazels cherry pie cocktail. A simply outstanding experience. Went last night with my sister and her friend for my sister s birthday dinner. The service was fast, warm, friendly and contributed to the evening. The owner Tony, is so welcoming and is most definitely a talented culinary artiste. The beef cheeks, and duck were beautifully prepared and mouth-watering, the desert was finely crafted and the cocktails were ingenious! This was a very memorable dining experience in a simple, welcoming atmosphere that begs for a return. Highest recommendation.

I hosted my party at wild chicory last night and it was a 5 star experience on all parts. The staff are kind and thoughtful, and you can just tell that the owner cares about people having a good time. He created a group menu for us a week beforehand and everything turned out perfect. The cocktails are on point and the food is EXCELLENT! All of my guests were raving about the food. Thank you for the sexy Sicilian (a must order cocktail!!!!) and a night to remember! xx

Impressed with everything about this hidden gem: the charming location, the incredibly delicious plates and the impeccable service. The mushrooms toast appetizer is a must try. I would also go back anytime for their short rib gnocchi: so creamy and flavorful, yet fresh and not too heavy. Amazing cocktails too. We will be back.

Went to this gem for date night with my husband. The ambience is so inviting, the place is decorated beautifully, the food was honestly amazing and everything tasted fresh. First we ordered the mussels and Frites, this was so good and then I had the cod and my husband had the short rib gnocchi, simply to die for. Plated beautifully and made with love. Dessert was also delicious we shared the crème brûlée and chocolate torte - both were delicious. Oh and can t forget the drinks they were so fun and the beer was from all local breweries. The staff and owner here are amazing and welcoming and make you feel at home. I would definitely recommend and will definitely be coming back very soon to try more items on the menu.

Walked in with a friend on a beautiful Friday night and were lucky enough to be able to get a table. The food was spectacular and it was my first CafeTO experience. We will be bringing others here. Probably the best fish and chips I have ever had and they do a nice twist on a very common item that elevates it way above a similar plate at other restaurants.

Warm, friendly, outstanding food. They opened just a month before the pandemic and have stayed open through their perseverance, welcoming atmosphere, and consistently delicious food. Just one block south of the main strip of Mt. Pleasant dining, this place is a gem. They have been our first visit at the end of each lockdown! Come, and lift up this wonderful team.

Went for dinner with my wife, our two sons (9 & 11) as well as some other relatives. We sat outside on the patio. Menu selection was great. Everything we ordered from the menu was of great quality. My lamb chops were a little overcooked but still super delicious and flavorful. Service was impeccable. My son found the fried chicken sandwich too spicy so they made him a new one which was a great touch. We had a great evening overall, thanks!

We have dined at Wild Chicory quite a few times and each time it was an amazing experience. The food, service and atmosphere are all top notch They make amazing cocktails too!

A delicious night out. Drinks hit the spot, and the food was delicious!

I went to Wild Chicory on the first weekend it opened and it was an absolutely wonderful experience from the service to the vibe and especially the food. The décor is rustic but contemporary and the space has a cozy feel. We were immediately greeted by staff and had great service from our server and the bartender. The cocktails were all great, but the Smoked Manhattan was a total showstopper! They also have a great beer and wine selection. I cant express how delicious and beautifully plated the food was! The four of us ordered a couple different starters including the beef cheek and freshly baked bread with homemade compound butter - yum! The caesar salad was amazing and a good portion too. I had the Wild Chicory Burger, which is ground in-house and had great flavor. I loved the attention to detail with the lightly grilled brioche bun that still had crunch when I bit into the burger. It came with fries that were lightly crispy and still hot! The steaks we ordered were cooked perfectly and the fish was flaky and fresh. We thought we might be too full, but Im so glad we got dessert! The sticky toffee pudding had great flavor and my favourite of the night was the creme brulee with blackberry compote. I could go on, but Ill finish by saying that Ill definitely be back again and highly recommend this new gem in the midtown neighborhood.

Fabulous addition to the neighborhood - weve been watching them renovate for a few months and hoping it would be a new restaurant! The interior decor with lots of gorgeous wood, moose antlers, and a lovely fireplace will make any hipster happy (as will the drink menu with smoked whiskey). We had melt in your mouth beef cheek and a beautifully plated salad to start. After cocktails, a delicious smokey steak with tempura mushrooms that I could have ordered as a main, and perfectly done duck with crispy kale (my kiddo devoured my last pieces after finishing off her ground in house burger with beautiful perfect salty frites). Polished by friendly staff and overall great vibe. We will be back.

This restaurant is quite the hidden gem. The cocktails are phenomenal from the smoked old fashion to the rspberry mojito which will be amazing in the summer! The space is very aesthetic and features lots of wood and even a pair of antlers on the bar! The Wild Chicory Salad is already my favourite, the hand pressed yogurt is enough to keep me ordering it again. My friend got the burger and I got the duck which were both well received and delivered in flavour and portions. The service was prompt, friendly and genuine, never needed to flag down a server for water! Outstanding for their third week open, a must try!

My husband and I held our wedding rehearsal dinner at Wild Chicory, and the word impressed would not do justice for how we felt about this restaurant. The customer service was great! Everyone working there was so friendly and helpful. The food....the food was delicious! We had a group of more than 20 people. Not only did they accommodate for us, but the standard/taste/presentation of the food did not waiver. Whether you are looking for a date night restaurant, a catch up with a friend restaurant, or a larger group gathering restaurant...Wild Chicory is the place to go!

The food was amazing, and the service quite friendly! Good craft draft beer selection, and everything we ordered was very tasty and well portioned.

Food is fantastic, vibes are on point and the aesthetic is rustic and comfy. Definitely a great place to grab a drink and some good eats! Will be back again :)

Nothing but good things to say about this place. Had a wonderful experience dining there with my wife. Service was fantastic... friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Everything is plated beautifully, and tastes even better than it looks. Happy to have Wild Chicory in the neighbourhood.

A welcome addition to the neighbourhood. Truly the best meal Ive had in the neighbourhood in a very long time. We were served by the owner who was professional and friendly. He was also very patient with our young child who accompanied us. We will be returning soon, and often.

Really fantastic food and drinks. The street patio was comfortable and well distanced. I m a bit disappointed that our service wasn t as good as the other reviews on here, but I ll definitely be back for more.

First time going to Wild Chicory and I had a fantastic time ! The food was delicious, the service was great, and the cocktails were fantastic o.o! The butterfly julep cocktail I got was outstanding. Extremely balanced, herbal, and delicious, though it might be a bit too booze forward for some, but I loved it and ended up getting 2 XD.... The beef carpaccio was great, Im not usually a horseradish fan but the emulsion was light, delicious, but not overpowering at all. The tuna nocoise was extremely fresh and bright. It was not something Ive eaten before, which is why I chose it, and I was not disappointed. Would definetly get it again! All in all I had an amazing time at Wild Chicory and I will definitely be going back again.

Great apps and main courses. Courteous service. Didnt like the daily mussel sauce and it was exchanged immedietly. Second choice was a delicious pasta dish. Good Choc torte dessert! Interesting wine choices... Go indulge!!!
