We're a casual open space designed for communal dining, a hangout for beer, cider, and wine aficionados, for families, work friends, and sausage/schnitzel/fondue lovers of all ages. We make great sausages with over twenty five options; along with our delicious porchetta, schnitzel, pretzels and burgers. Like fries? We have regular and duck fat (all Belgian style). Also, WE LOVE VEGETARIANS = 4 Plant based sausages. We also offer Schnitzels, decadent Cheese Fondues and our classic WVRST Smash & Juicy Lucy Burgers. We have 24 taps that we clean every two weeks. Our draft list is constantly rotating, but always focuses on home grown craft beer and cider. For our bottles and cellar we seek the best from around the world.
Fantastic schnitzel, warm atmosphere, and an expansive drink menu! There are plenty of food options (and sharing plates!) to pick from—we passed around some tasty pretzels and fondue, but they also feature a wide collection of sausages. The inside is very open with bench seating and a comfy beer hall vibe.
Loved the taste of the food. The sauerkraut was alright but the meat was amazing. The duck fat fries were quite underwhelmin.
Very delicious food is being offered here! It has been some time since I’ve visited this location specifically, but they used to have really exotic options including alligator sausages. My go-to now is the bison on a bun and their duck fat fries. They have great beverage options to pair well with your food as well. Definitely recommend this spot!
I really enjoy this place. Lots of super interesting game meats to try, delicious cheese fondue and great German beer! You need to try the Hefeweizen. Oh and the pretzel, can't get me enough pretzel. The atmosphere is great, I kind of like the self-service dining experience that they offer and it's quite kid friendly here. We enjoyed our visit so much we ended up coming back a few weeks later.
Friendly service but you have to come to the counter to order and pay before getting food. Good quality sausages with many options. We went there during Euro season and they showed a match on big screen.
I recommend it 100%! I had a green salad with perfectly fresh ingredients! The dressing was excellent! I loved the ambiance and the service was so welcoming and attentive! I enjoyed my experience here and will definitely be back! We sat outside, it was a little warm and sunny, but inside it was perfectly cool.
We were curious about the good overall reviews - so we had to try the place out. First the positive things: I like the design and also the fact that people sit together - reminds me a lot of Oktoberfest and some German pub gems (Frankfurt etc). The wait time for food was pretty decent and the selection of music was nice aswell But. First when we arrived we were ‘stopped’ by a sign that said “wait to be seated” - as we did. It was two of us and overall there were 8 people waiting. After 10 minutes of standing the 4 people in front of us left and we didn’t want to wait any longer so we just went straight up to the cashier (its where you order) This is the first time that someone of the staff noticed us and asked whether we were first in line (because we didn’t wait at the door) … After a quick explanation of the menu we ordered (our favorites were sadly not available) The sausage was pretty good - but not 15CAD good … the sandwich (see photo) was interesting but full of fat - like honestly full of fat so I had to remove a lot of it to be able to eat it. No cutlery was provided and no one ever even cared about asking us whether we liked it or not (since we already paid when ordering we were not interesting enough?) I don’t know maybe it was a bad day, maybe it is the concept but we didn’t enjoy it as much as we should have according to average reviews and will probably not come back since Toronto is full of awesome food places.
We made the trip to eat at this place as many people had mentioned it to us. Vibrant, spacious but still warm. German inspired beer hall that is welcoming by the staff. Great service, delicious food and got to have beers that I have only had in Cologne, Germany. 🇩🇪 so I was very happy.
Just an amazing spot with amazing German inspired food.
It is the WVRST place I have ever been to, great sausages and atmosphere, and friendly service ! Kid-friendliness: Very children friendly and welcoming staff.
A unique experience. I like the way seatings are arranged. The presence of benches and long tables encourages you to share your space with others.
Aaabsolutely disgusting...everything literally soaked in oil. Waaaay too much salt and its hilarious how after ordering an item you get told 20 minutes later that its not available as they have ran out (early mid day with not a single customer in the actual place).... Never again Do have to give where its due though: rustic looking place so it looks pretty good.
I like the place and I ordered a beer with fries and the beer was hot and the fries were very salty. But or good place.
Great night!!! Kaia (not sure if i spelt that right) was a great bartender/server! Very kind and awesome! Great energy of the bar and amazing service!! 10/10
For sure one of the best without any doubt
Best sausages ever! The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the beers are excellent. You truly feel like youre in Germany for a while.
Bar tender was an amazing host. Great selection of sausece, duck fat fries were amazing, and beer selection was great.
Ordered the bratwurst and italian sausage currywurst dishes. Good flavour and smokiness from the italian, perhaps expected some more juiciness from the bratwurst. Duck fat fries had a nice flavour but quickly lost their crispiness. Bartender was friendly, good casual experience.
The duck/foie gras sausage was meh. Others are pretty good.
We got the fondue, and that was really great. There were 3 or 4 issues with our meal, and our server kept coming to tell us bad news, but were easygoing and happy to enjoy our drinks. When our correct sausage came, it was obvious the first 3 had been sitting and getting cold for a bit before we received them.
Decent collection of beers but some of them were out of stock. Food was basic and could have been better. Location is good.
I recently won a contest on Instagram @WVRST - we met another couple at the restaurant and had a wonderful meal, great beer and awesome atmosphere! The manager even brought us a dessert! We will definitely be back- thank you WVRST@King
Came in for a late lunch without any expectations and this place delivered m. We had smash burgers with duck fat fries and salad. Everything was really good, including the salad which was fresh and crunchy. Lots of beer options, I imagine it s a great spot in the evenings.
Its a good bar, I recommend it to go have beers. For food I dont recommend it very much, its bar food, so its not very good. Service is self-service, it takes a while. But nice place, I liked it in general.
Good food but the service is poor and rude at times. Not really worth it considering how many other interesting places there are close by.
The food has a good quality-quantity vs price ratio. The service, correct. The atmosphere was nothing special, perhaps because we went in summer, it was quite empty inside the place.
I wanted to celebrate my big 4-0 on September 7 with 25 of my closest friends and knew that WVRST would be the ideal spot. And I was right! They were SO accommodating, as my party size had changed a few times with additional guests confirming. They even had Happy Birthday signs on the table for our party :) The food was great as always, ambiance was fantastic, and it was refreshing to be able to move around a bit instead of being stuck at your seat as is the case with the more typical birthday dinner event. Thank you to the Staff, you guys made our night !
We really enjoyed this location and menu. For the Octoberfest menu they had Sweinhaxen, which was delicious and had a great crispy skin. Beer was also excellent. A new favorite restaurant for us to visit when in Toronto. Thanks.
Nice food.
Went there one Saturday night and the pretzels and vegan sausages were great. The service was even better. Athena was my waitress and she was very friendly and attentive.
Everything was good.
Delicious food, nice place to relax
The sausage is awesome. Nice spot to have some kool weird sausage and beer. But the service wasn t really kool. Asian server was putting our fries down and litterally spilled my drink on the table and some actually came on my pants . She didn t say sorry. Didn t even ask if she should replace it for me. Just wiped it off the table with straight face and left.
Meh. Pros: large beer hall, selection of sausages. Cons: self serve, order they bring it out to you via # system. Get your own water. Lots of pressure to tip for Im not sure what. Expect a sad/ rude face when you dont tip the self serve counter. At the prices they charge for a quick/ self serve food & beer they can afford to pay their staff.
Communal style seating arrangement which was an interesting change!
Meh. It was okay.
Bad service, wouldn t recommend
WVST was truly the worst! My partner and I were so embarrassed because a friend of ours spoke highly of the restaurant, and we were excited to check it out. Unfortunately, the experience was a complete letdown. First off, it wasn t busy, yet the service was slow. We could have overlooked that if the food and drinks had been amazing. However, the sausage was mediocre something you could buy from No Frills and bake at home. The sauerkraut tasted like it came straight from a Presidents Choice jar, and the duck fries were most likely McCain. The portions were tiny and tasteless for the price. We left hungry and ended up eating at Wendys. To make matters worse, my Negroni tasted like water. I then ordered an Aperol Spritz, which was even more watered down. After asking them to remake the drink, it was just okay. Paying $100 for this tasteless meal was unfortunate. We would have been better off at Wendys.
Its OK - I think the sausage combos are quite expensive considering only one sausage and size. Duck fat fries just taste like regular fries but the dips are good.
Being an ex-pat of King West means that we love to stop in here to see whats up and whats new whenever we are in the neighborhood. Things of note: The classics havent changed and the menu is solid. The taps are *always* in top tier condition and everything on tap is the best youve had it. Seriously. Yes, you absolutely have to try the duck fat fries. Get the maple dip with them. Its like a mini trip to Germany without the cost of a flight.
My favourite place to have a few Cold Ones on King. Vegetarian options: Four choices of vegan sausage! And theyre delicious! Food : 5/5 |
Excellent service period of the staff was friendly and food was great. The atmosphere is well decorated and the place is very well cupped. Would recommend sausages and beer
The WVRST tastes good!!!
Grate service all around
Food was delicious. The elk sausage is insanely good. The beer hall vibe isn t as awesome when it s not very busy but during peak hours it s a great atmosphere Parking: Not very much places to park nearby. Have to get lucky on King street. Public transit will be your friend. Right off a streetcar stop
First time here! The Bratwurst sausage in a bun with sauerkraut & roasted peppers blew my mind!!! The pretzel was delish! The duck fries to die for!! The mustards!!!! We were checked on at least 4 times to make sure we were enjoying. To see if things were good. To check if we needed anything! Loved the communal tables and atmosphere! Clean. And just delicious!! Thanks Vegetarian options: They had sausages that were vegetarian! They looked good too!
Well..... Good. Sausage
Great selection of food and drinks.
Kas ! Try this one
Nice true German beer.
This place is amazing! The staff is wonderful and the food is delicious! My boyfriend and I were served by Mikayla who was warm, passionate and so personable. I highly recommend this place!
went to watch Germany game we won had the bison sausage very tasty good food and service
While exploring the area, we discovered a hidden gem that totally exceeded our expectations! We were impressed by the variety of food options, the great selection of beer, the lively atmosphere, and the friendly staff. We highly recommend this place - 100%!
I like this place, they have a good selection of beers and sausages. Only wish they had more comfortable cushioned seating options.
Great selection of both beer and high quality sausages!
Service was great! Beer was good too. Atmosphere is open and inviting.
Such a warm, welcoming place to come have a bite and some beer. My wife and I tried the Schnitzel and it was delicious. They have a wide variety of beer to try. Additionally, the staff was very friendly and attentive.
Too loud!
if you love sausage and you want to try wild/different taste, I would suggest this place. I love the original beef/pork sausage taste but I dont mind to have something different time to time. and when that happen. WVRSY is my option A. the staff were super friendly and helpful.
Dirty
The food was great, as well as the service when it came to being served what was ordered. The only slightly odd thing was needing to line up to put your order in and pay on the spot. Other than that, Wvrst was a great place to eat!
Excellent curry wurst!! Just like Berlin. Had a very nice server too.
Not a fan of the King West scene but this isnt a bad spot for some happy hour fare.
Its ok. Its expensive like everything else is Toronto. An i know its the style but i dont like how you have to go up and place your order. My husband and i went the last time for our friend s birthday but we would not go back.
WVRST serves up juicy, flavorful hot dogs that are sure to satisfy any craving. With a variety of toppings and a friendly atmosphere, its the perfect spot for a quick and delicious meal with a lovely vibe!
Great variety of drinks Fondue Amazing hot dogs Great fries Food : 5/5 |
Really chill place with unique meats and atmosphere. Though food and drinks tend to be overpriced
Food was good, bartender was horrendous and took almost 20 minutes to serve me, serving others that came to the bar after me.
What more can I say but dope sausages and a great selection of beer.... Like bro do you need another reason to try it?
Food isnt great but you can always get a table for a larger group.
Duck sausage was lovely. Especially good dipped in the curry ketchup. Yum.
Great food at good prices! The duck fat fries are a must!
Delish food and friendly service!
Love going here, interesting sausages and amazing fries. Staff are also so helpful and nice.
Pilsner Urqell on tap and wild variety of sausages
Great quality food at all locations. I can t wait to go back.
Although somewhat short staffed when we were there (even the employee admitted it) he did an amazing job of running the bar and front of house. Food, beer, and service were great.
Pretty good place for beer. Food was ok. Good place for average Canadians who want to try German-ish sausages.
Great beer and home made sausages . Duck fat French fries a must!
The sausages were so dry, it might as well be sawdust. I would recommend people buy the sausages and cook them at home because the sausages themselves arent terrible. But whoever is cooking them at the back does not know how to cook. I went on two separate occasions and both were dry beyond belief.
Our craving for veggie hot dog and beer was fulfilled after visiting this place. Thank you and we will see you soon Vegetarian options: Veggie Chipotle Sausage
Nice casual place to hang out with friends, good selection of beers and ciders, I had the kaas sausage and was great, but the fries always come soggy which I don t like.
So much good meat, so little time!
What a fun place!! The food was awesome!! They have an amazing choice of sausages and 3 different cheese fondue ! Plus Pretzels. Need I say more? Ok how about the drink menu?? So much choice!! So good! The guys there were great, took great care of us as it was our first time. Even if one of them was a Celtic FC fan... Go Rangers!! A great place for a date or familys . Reccomend trying it out!
Went here just before the New Year and I can honestly say I haven t come close to a restaurant in Toronto as good since, from their house made dips( try the dijon), pickled veg, duck fries to the schnitzel sandwich & sausage sampler This restaurant is the perfect spot to bring a loved one, friend or family member if you re looking for a genuinely good time and experience. You will leave smiling from ear to ear from not only the food, but the servers as well. The Willibald Seltzers are absolutely delicious, we tried the Pina Colada & Fruit Punch and both were so good i had to google the company (based here in Ontario btw!)
All of the food was amazing, I highly recommend the sausage sample platter to get to try a few different types of sausage. The atmosphere was pretty cool and lots of fun. The service was a bit slow, but it was a busy Saturday night and they were understaffed so I can t blame anyone for that. I would definitely go back!
got the chorizo hot dog! pretty good and loved the unique bread- kinda pricy though, came out to $16 plus tip and tax
I recommend the duck fries and the veal sausage
The sausage platter was okay. Only like 2/5 of them. But those duck fat fries, oh my! 10/10. Could be an 11 if we had a sauce to pair it with
Really good!!!
Been here twice and would very much likely come back! Great food, great atmosphere and its really a nice place to go with friends or family. One of my fave spots in Toronto!
This was a stop on a date because we had a little extra time and it was so good that we decided our next date would devoted to spending an afternoon here. Amazing snacks, beer and staff.
The hot dogs are great, but honestly the fries are some of the best Ive ever had! Get the duck fat fries, theyre excellent.
Great spot. Staff could do a bit better but overall a great spot. Large menu.
Amazing sausages. Huge selection of beer. The fondue is to die for. The service both times I went wasnt great but Ill always go back for the food. Parking: No parking at the location. There is a Green P lot down the street, a short walk away. Kid-friendliness: Not a family restaurant. Its more of a beer hall.
Honestly food is fine. Its filled with a bunch of google intern wannabes and people who own moose knuckles. The service is the WVRST. Its 9 dollars for a beer and no one will look you in the eye. Make sure you puke on the sidewalk. This place was great once. Those days are dead. God help us all. May God forgive us for what weve done.
2020 - This place deserves its hype. Fantastic variety of interesting meats with an even more impressive beer selection. Cool atmosphere thats good for mingling if you feel extroverted enough. 2024 - Returned to this place after a few years and oh man it has fallen from grace. The food is about the same but the atmosphere and service have plummeted. First off, there was no music playing - giving the place a very dead feel. The worst aspect was the staff though - they were just dead inside and you could tell not a single one of them wanted to be there. It came out in all the interactions we had with them. Beer selection is still awesome and I like the game meats, but the staff here really needs some pep to bring this place back to life.
Its got a fun atmosphere and a unique menu. But after all that I had heard about this place I was fairly disappointed. The suasged were very dry and the toppings were quite bland. I was hoping I had found a place to get sausages like the ones in Germany but it was nothing like that. There was a birthday party going on and It was very loud no complaints about that but our server was impossible to find and they would hang out near the kitchen and not very attentive.
This has been our monthly weekend brunch place while our dog gets a bath !! Food is always well prepared, delicious and great quality. Service has always been excellent and a big selection of hard to find beers. Parking: Plenty of street parking and couple of indoor parking lots
Very interesting beer and cider selection. Sausages (wild boar and Italian) were disappointingly dry. Sauerkraut is of the bland variety I prefer it to have more acid bite.
I like it for the variety of sausages you re not going to find most other places and the German beer hall feel. The selection of beer is impressive. Can be a bit hectic and that shows up in the service, through the staff always appear to be doing their best with what they have to work with.
The best selection of beers in Toronto hands down. The food is also great and the staff are friendly
Easy serve yourself spot, nice selection of sausages and beers, no min. spend and no deposit for organized events, friendly staff
Great beer hall feel and the food is awesome.
Great restaurant, getting married here soon. Great beer selection and great food!
Wvrst (pronounced verst) is a popular restaurant in Toronto known for its modern take on traditional beer hall style sausages and craft beer. Variety of Sausages: Wvrst offers an extensive menu of sausages, including traditional, game, and plant-based options. Craft Beer Selection: They have a wide range of craft beers, catering to both local tastes and international varieties. Unique Sides: Their duck fat fries are particularly popular among patrons. Wvrst in Toronto is generally well-regarded for its unique approach to sausages and its extensive craft beer menu. Its a great spot for those looking to experience a modern twist on a traditional beer hall. However, the atmosphere can be quite lively, so it might not be the best place for a quiet conversation. Ambiance: The communal seating and beer hall style gives it a lively, communal atmosphere, making it suitable for gatherings.
Munich beer hall inspired seating, great hot dogs (venison) smoked gouda onion with duck fries - quality beer on tap
This place is okay, but it s really a shadow of its former self what was once a true unique gem of king west seems to have turned into any generic trendy Toronto restaurant. I used to frequent wvrst pre-covid - the counter service and seat yourself style of dining at long communal tables made it have such a wonderful social atmosphere- many impromptu connects made among groups. In contrast, the new table service setup just takes the charm out of the atmosphere- much more formal and less social. Additionally, the vegetarian sausages were once the best in Toronto in my opinion, but have since been replaced with imitation meat. There is no draw for vegetarians to dine here, as the vegetarian options can be found in any grocery store for much less $$. I understand a pub using imitation meat, but this is a specialty sausage place where everyone should be able to find something unique and delicious, as it once was I can t bring myself to rate this establishment below 3 stars, because there are genuinely good things about it. The meat options are plentiful, and were enjoyed by the omnivore members of our group. The service is a little slow, but friendly, and the establishment is well maintained. I would not recommend this place to vegetarians, or small groups looking to socialize with others, but I could see how it would be a good experience for a large group looking to eat some good sausages and socialize within themselves. Just sad it s not what it used to be Vegetarian options: Sadly the delicious vegetarian sausages of their past have been replaced by imitation meat, I would not recommend this place to vegetarians.
One of my favourite cozy spots to visit when Im back in Toronto. Great staff, awesome food, fantastic beer lineup
Best sausage Ive had in town. Will definitely recommend it to anyone. And omg, i loved their side of kimchi
I love coming to eat here and I dont eat meat. So that says a lot. They make an amazing veggie burger, omg. When I crave a good burger and fries this is the place I always come to. Also, their bar is amazing. Their drinks are the best. Love their service and their energy here. Also the vibe here is insane. Its so much fun. Because the tables are the long wood tables with bench seating its almost like eating at a food hall or cafeteria but wayyyyy cooler. Vegetarian options: One of the best veggies burgers Ive had hands down!!
WVRST is a great place for delicious german bar inspired food and drinks. They have a huge beer selection from many places around the world. Other options include ciders and seltzers. The food is creative and really well done. I got the danger dog with duck fat fries and it was very tasty. Lots of mustard options on the table. Usually the busiest for after work drinks.
Good food. Good chill atmosphere.
This place used to do bar service which was excellent for getting service exactly when you wanted it. It also worked really well for large groups, as everyone can pay their own bill and there was never any drama over splitting cheques / folks missing paying for an item etc. It was great, such a gem. However, Wvrst has recently switched over to table service and our recent visit was really lacking 1. table service was slow. I think each of us in our 11 person group would have had 1-2 more drinks throughout the night, but for long periods of time it was impossible to get any server s attention. This group has been going to Wvrst almost monthly this year and we were disheartened at the change. Everyone at my table was discussing how much easier it was before to pop up to the bars when we needed something. It took one server to take everybody in the place s order! And the floor staff were able to focus on running food/drinks to tables and collecting empties. 2. When items were brought to our table, empty plates and glassware was not taken away. We were stacking these items to make room these were items we were clearly finished using but we had to move things to adjacent tables or onto the bar ourselves. Heck, when there was bar service I didn t mind taking my empty glass back up there when I ordered, but if I can t also get a new drink in the process it s a little irritating :) 3. Wvrst s only non-alcoholic beer option is not very nice 4 of us ordered it at some point in the night and nobody enjoyed it; quite sweet, almost like Rice Krispies. We discussed at the table all the delicious non-alcoholic beers available now, including from Bellwoods Brewery right here in Toronto s west end. Once the bar got quieter we got more attention but by that point half our party had left. The staff themselves were friendly and pleasant! It just felt like perhaps someone made a bad decision about how to manage customer service, and we are hoping it s only a test which might switch back soon. Fingers crossed!
Food sausage and great beer
On par with what youd find near Viktualienmarkt in München. A must eat place in Toronto.
Had the currywurst style bratwurst. It was tasty, I liked the ketchup! the duck fat fries were very good.
Interesting selection of sausages! And cool atmosphere. You need to get help from the staff otherwise it s hard to choose (not an ordinary menu as you can guess) Also the space is big and suitable for big groups
The sausages are very decent but the atmosphere is nondescript. Quite good beer selection, though.
They got dogs
Had a great experience at Wvrst with my team, the service was great and the food was awesome. Being vegetarian I was skeptic that there would be anything I could have besides pickles, but I was pleasantly surprised that they offer beyond meat options that were excellent pickles were also 10/10. Would recommend especially for large groups as they offer long table seating. Vegetarian options: Beyond meat
Food? On point. Ambiance? Pretty great. Beer selection? Worthy of a thirsty person. Where they fall way short is that I attempted to pay for my meal in cash, and was informed that no change will be given. So I m either forced into leaving an extra large tip (my tip was already generous enough), or forced into using a credit card that I didn t prefer to use. At best this no change given policy is a curious head scratcher, and at worst (pun intended), a very big miss. I ll be taking my future business elsewhere where cash is invited and celebrated properly.
Found this place randomly and became one of my all time favorites!! Amazing find!!
Staff was very helpful and friendly food was excellent
Awesome spot, always a great selection on draught and cant be beat for sausage and pretzels. Highly recommend. Vegetarian options: Great vegetarian options, including both Beyond products and several in house options.
One of the best sausages, pretzels and beers!! My all time fav spot
I had the sausage and dirty fries. The sausage was overcooked, incredibly dry, and put on a stale bun. The dirty fries were near burnt. The servers were nice, but the food was awful.
Forgot my order three time. 13 people table and we order 16 food item including appetizers. Order only came in for 10 out of 16. Asked about rest of the 6 and got 5 of them. Something about printer not printing full order.
Highly recommend for small and big groups alike, love the dining hall atmosphere and absolutely delicious food. So many choices with inclusive meat alternatives. Extensive drink menu with lots of options on tap. Great for shared eats and individual meals
First time visiting g this location and service was top notch. Great beer selection and wellnpaired food.
