Yu Seafood Yorkdale in Toronto

my review and my experience and express my disappointment with the experience my group and I had during our recent visit to YU Seafood restaurant . The level of service we received has left us feeling unsatisfied and concerned about the practices within your establishment. Upon visiting your restaurant with a group of five individuals, we were taken aback by the total bill amount presented to us. It was alarming to discover that an 18% gratuity charge had been automatically added to each of our separate bills. As per our understanding, the removal of HST by the government until January should have been reflected in the total bill. This unexpected imposition of gratuity without prior notice or consent is deemed as unacceptable from our point of view. We firmly believe that tipping should be discretionary and based on the quality of service provided. Moreover, our dining experience was further marred by the unavailability of certain menu items. It was reported to us that the chef had concluded their shift at 4:00 pm, dim sum not available most of food we are planning is not available resulting in limited options for those dining later in the evening. This lack of transparency regarding the operating hours of the chef has led to dissatisfaction among our party, who expected a full menu selection during our visit.

Updating my review. The place is so disorganized and the service is horrible. Everyone here is running around like chickens without their heads. We arrived less than 10 minutes EARLY for our reservation and they couldnt even figure out a table. Whoever is the man at the front desk is not handling things well at all.

The dim sum was delicious and generous in portion size and the waitress was very accommodating. This a great dining experience!

Given the prices at this restaurant - the food was universally mediocre to outright poor. From tasteless fried rice, to gelatinous beef, it wasn t even good enough to qualify as cut rate food. Service wasn t much better. Definitely would not return.

If you want it slightly average dim sum for above average prices, this is the place to go. To be fair, it is in Yorkdale and there are no other options for Chinese food in the area. The restaurant itself is quite nice and comfortable, with well spaced tables and attentive waitstaff.

This is an upscale restaurant and you have to have deep pockets to try it. The dining environment is elegant and the meals are exquisite. The waiter KA YAN serves warmly and attentively. For dinner, we have a table of ten people. Ordered the blue grouper and lobster set meal for four + roast duck for three. The portion size was just right, but the ordering staff emphasized that there were only four portions of soup and four portions of fried rice, which made us worry that it was not enough, so we added some fried noodles and finally had to pack away the leftovers.... Steamed lobster with garlic is awesome ! When eating lobster, you must choose steamed lobster to taste fresh and sweet. Four pounds of lobster must be enough for ten people. The ordering staff asked if I wanted to increase the size, and my answer was no. The Steamed Blue Grouper is also great ! It was as delicious as the fish we just caught from the lake. There was no 1.5 pounds that day, only 2 pounds, so we had to increase the size. We ate them all, including the fish head. Three Eats of Roast Duck: Features 1. The chef cuts it on the spot 2. The skin of the roast duck cake is extremely thin 3. There are three kinds of dipping sauces (I like plum juice the most, and the yellow the least) 4. The ingredients include shredded green onions, cucumbers and cantaloupe. Thoughts. The roast duck was average overall. I felt special that the third dish was presented as nigiri sushi, but I didn t think it was delicious. The rice was too sticky and the texture and taste didn t match! The soup is watery, not much ingredients, nothing special. The ordering staff reminded me that there were only four portions, but luckily I didn t add more... The sliced barbecued pork is super delicious , a must order when you come to the restaurant. Dessert-Yangzhi Manna is very smooth and the children like it very much. Adding some sesame ice cream is not bad! Overall experience: The food is carefully managed, and the seafood meals are fresh and delicious . Since I didn t order Hong Kong-style dim sum, I can t comment. The tip on the bill is 18%, which is about $100 CAD. You have to be mentally prepared to dine in the restaurant. Verdict: This is an upscale restaurant that you have to have deep pockets to try.

This place is exceptional beautiful. I took my girl out for lunch there for her birthday. It wasn t planned ahead and was spontaneous but the waitress there made me look exceptionally good when I told her please don t let the birthday girl pay, not only did she help with that but in the end gifted us a chocolate pup dessert with the words happy birthday written on the plate. Restaurant was amazing and the food is amazing. We got the lunch set (Dim Sum) lunch for two. It was very filling and a lot of food. Portions were good. We couldn t finish it and packed. Great deal. Been to this location a few times, and had great experience every time. The service is always impeccable and love the atmosphere, very stylish and elegant, most importantly, not over crowded or noisy so that you can actually enjoy your family and friends without shouting at them to have a conversation. The food is Cantonese seafood, authentic but with a contemporary twist, always nicely presented. The only thing is that it s pretty expensive for the amount of food you get. Overall, a great choice for a nice dinner out with family and friends. Parking: Mall parking

Fine dining dim sum. Its definitely a place to go to if you want to impress someone but Ive had better dim sum. The Xiu Mai was probably the best Ive had but the other items were ok for the higher price tag. You can tell they put a lot of care into their service and atmosphere which was a nice change from all the other dim sum restaurants. If anyone knows what soy sauce they use, please let me know. Best soy sauce ever.

Food was surprisingly tasty. Exquisite service (especially Felix), welcoming staff, pleasant ambiance, and a respectful crowd. It is a nice getaway from the hustle of the mall, and the prices reflect it.

Very fancy Chinese Restaurant in Yorkdale Mall. We were a group of 10+ so we ordered the set menu. The food was great. These are the type of food that you don t get to eat everyday but you got to try at least once.

My wife and I had a fabulous dinner tonight. The food was amazing. But what really made our dinner was our server- Ethan. We did not know what to order and how much. He made recommendations that were perfect. He knew everything about the menu and the drink menu. We will definitely be back

Wife and I went for wedding anniversary dinner. Super happy with the food quality and atmosphere. Will come back for special occasions.

We ordered a 6-person set menu, and at the beginning, we were told the bass weighed 2.25 pounds. In the end, they told us the fish was gone, with no service at all throughout the meal not even informing us about the dish names. Yet, they automatically added an 18% service charge to the bill. If the food were good, we wouldn t mind, but it was far from that. Every single dish tasted awful. Towards the end, they probably noticed how unhappy we were and sent over 3 puddings for a table of 6. How were we supposed to split that? It became a brain teaser for after dinner. When we went to settle the bill, they even overcharged us for an extra bill. We called the manager, Sam, who walked over while chewing food, didn t even apologize, and handled the refund while still munching away. Extremely unprofessional. The meal cost $135 per person money spent on nothing. If you ve got money to burn and don t care about the food or service, this might be the place for you!

We ordered the Peking Duck Combo for 6. With fish, lobster, and duck in the combo, the veal was probably the best . The combo includes an 8lbs lobster, but we were told that its sold out and were suggested to get two 4lbs ones instead, which honestly cant be compared with one 8lbs lobster. We were informed at the end that the fish was sold out and got a refund of $55, which was 1/10 of the combos price. Creativity was expressed through duck sushi and cheese butter lobster (or lobster poutine), and they werent good. Before cooking the lobster, he showed us that lobster is not worth the life lost Water and dessert were left in the middle of the table. The service was ok but does not deserve the mandatory 18% tip. We werent asked about our dining experience. The server did not introduce the dishes and sauces. Upon receiving the bill , we were overcharged and the manager, Sam, did not apologize or directly communicate with us. Instead, he stood before us and let the server Lala communicate and apologize. Maybe it was because they only spoke English, Cantonese and Spanish and not Mandarin.

Surprising to find dimsum that both tastes AND looks amazing. Would definitely recommend as a cute date spot, a place to take your parents, or just casual dimsum time. Our server Cindy was super friendly and helpful! Our favorites were the scallop dumpling and hargow. The Shu Mai was a close third (stuffed with pork).

Yu Seafood is so good! Not talked about enough, we only just learned this place was here. Our server, Ethan, was so awesome! The ingredients are fresh, and the Jiugongge (nine-grid) plating is exquisite. Each dish has its own characteristics, with the sweet scent of osmanthus and the fragrance of basil. However, the downside is that the edges are a bit tough, but the custard is very delicious. The service at the restaurant is excellent, five-star rating.

Finally, I had the opportunity to check into the fish restaurant. It was my first time here and I didn t know how to order. A ka Yan service girl was very enthusiastic and helped us introduce popular dishes. The roast duck she recommended was good, and the wagyu sashimi was amazing! I will try the morning tea next time and hope to meet this young lady again.

The Peking duck here is pretty good. No duck is perfect, but this is probably the closest you can get without flying to Beijing, China.

I absolutely love the Yorkdale location! best quality Chinese food Ive had so far. Dim sum is available until 4:00 pm daily. I enjoyed the atmosphere, and the food came out quickly Food I ordered: - Har Gow - Sui Mai - Grouper Dumplings - Fried Beef Ribs - Chinese Kale with Garlic I highly recommend the Sui Mai and Fried Beef Ribs.

Excellent service and food are very fresh and delicious

Overall, great experience and will come back again. The service staff were attentive at the beginning, the sashimi was amazingly fresh and the presentation was very nice. The Abalone fried rice was also done very well. Not a huge fan of the seafood udon, flavor was a bit bland and the lobster was served lukewarm.

Yu Seafood is my favorite dim sum spot in North York. The service is impeccable, and the food is always delicious, with generous portions. My favorites are the steamed spareribs and shrimp rolls, and their sauce is always served piping hot. The chili oil is flavorful and perfectly spicy. Consistently a 5-star experience!

After getting bombarded by their $1 oyster special ads on Insta, we finally gave this a try! But Ill say that if you came here specifically for the oysters, youll be disappointed - they were so small! You can get much better value oysters elsewhere. That said, Im still really glad we came here! We ordered a variety of dishes and they were all solid! My personal favorite was the red scallop rice rolls. I also recommend the jasmine pear bellini cocktail - fresh, flavourful, and well balanced. Dont bother with the Tuesday special (sake fizz) - it just tasted like sugar water. Our table came away very satisfied on $40 (before tip and drinks) per person. Its a fancy looking place that wont break your bank, and very Chinese culture friendly. All the staff seemed fluent in English and Mandarin or Cantonese. They offered to review the bill with us to make sure everything was tallied up correctly, and were upfront about skipping the tipping option on drinks (I actually dont know why they skipped it but I appreciated it lol). Its a very classy place, while also being very transparent with pricing and portions. I think this is the perfect place if you want to impress your Chinese elders on a budget. Odd that there werent enough menus to go around, they kept taking our menus away because other tables needed them lol. I feel like this can be easily solved with a QR code to access the menu on our phone.

Dim sum were beautifully presented and tasty with good quality ingredients. Tea charge is $3.50/pax. The first tip suggested was 18%.

It s my first time to come to Yorkdale s fish restaurant. I have to say that the service is great and the waiters are all so young. It feels like it s the first time in so many years since I ve been in Canada that I ve received such a sincere smile. I have to say that the quality of the dishes and the service attitude are much higher than the morning tea in Vancouver. Got a rank! And the most important thing! The price is really not expensive

We had some of the most delicious Chinese food we ve ever had here. Their mud crab was delectable and their table side Peking duck 3 ways was quite the experience! I would go back in a heartbeat. The waiters could use some more training. Most of them are kids.

Celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival in a private room. When changing the disc, accurately turn the sign with the name Yishenfang to the 12 oclock position, open the bottle of red wine, decant the wine, change the brand of red wine and change the wine glass. The owners training is good in every detail. The order of serving needs to be adjusted. The dishes maintain the standard of Cantonese cuisine. Attached is a photo of the sign on the exterior wall. Park closest to the sign at the West 2 entrance of the mall when you see it.

Great selection of vegetarian options! Food was delicious. Love the ambiance and service. Ipad menu for dim sum really elevates things. Ipad always kept clean and disinfected too!

Food is ok, its hard to compete Chinese cuisine in Toronto especially being so close to Markham/Richmond Hill. It is also on the pricier side but what makes the restaurant well in my opinion is the service and atmosphere. We celebrated my moms birthday and Karen our server/manager was amazing (5/5 stars for Karen). Would come back to try their Yumcha/dimsum menu

I had two meals during dinner time at this restaurant. The first time experience was not that good. We were a group of five and ordered lots of food. The booth table was not big enough for placing all the dishes. I had my second dinner on the past Sunday. I appreciated the lady named Verine resolved my doubts promptly. She was willing to communicate and help us to get a bigger table for dinner. We had a lovely dinner under the server named Yan. We enjoyed our meal so much this time.

Had dinner the other night with my friends and it worths the experience. Our server, Celia, was the greatest one we have ever had. She took care of us so well and of course, we enjoyed our night more than expected. Food was delicious, and I would recommend the Peking Duck, my favourite. Definitely come back and hope to meet Celia again!

Today we went for the first in this restaurant and our experience was so good that we want to return. The food was good, the Dim Sum (WOW!), and no words for the service! Our attendant Karen was so kind and ! Five stars for Karen! Thank you for our experience!

We (2 people) had a very nice late lunch, lobster dumpling, ha kau, fish dumpling, fried quale, stired sea cucumber with king mushrooms, stir noodles with wagyu beef. Total price was about 208$ + tips. The food is good. When i say food, i mainly mean just the dim sum. The reason why I didnt give 5 stars is because they have very limited menu compared to other Chinese restaurant, and the stir fried noodle wagyu beef as well the stir fried sea cucumber have too much msg. My mom usually have reaction on her throat when there are a high level of msg. I was also very thirsty after eating those dish and I could also tell there were more msg than usual. I can tolerate a bit , but a high-end restaurant shouldnt use so much msg to enhance thr flavor! For those 2 reasons, I give a rating of 3 / 5 for food. Our waiter Kenny is very nice and extremely professional. Kenny has a very good sense of observation. The fact that I ask 3 bowl from the start when we are only 2, he knew that the third bowl was to be used to wash all the cutlery and cups. He concluded that I have a very high standard in terms of hygiene and food quality. For example he made sure our tea is extra hot. Kenny is a very food example of someone who cares for customer service. We will definitely come back mainly because of the excellent service. The price is much more expensive than other Chinese restaurants for dim sum and I will say the food is comparable to Pearl, Casa, etc but I would still come here only for dim sum because of the higher service, but Yu Seafood needs to tell their chef cook to put less msg for their dishes! and also have a greater menu comparable to other Chinese restaurants.

The king crab and duck were our favorites. You could tell that the food was prepared with care and passion. this place has my heart. great food, service, everything was amazing. i love the decor here and it the food was amazing. i will be coming back, but i will say it was overpriced!

The dim sum I tried was well-presented and visually appealing. The dishes tasted good, though nothing stood out as particularly special. Service was attentive and the restaurants interior was nicely done, making for a pleasant dining experience overall.

When I went to eat today, it was different from before. The overall experience was not good. When you enter the door and go upstairs, the floor is sticky. I ordered Kung Pao Chicken. Not only was the presentation not as good as before, but the sides of the plate were also broken. There was no service during the whole process except for pouring tea and serving food for the first time. I had to wait for a long time to pay the bill.

I had dinner at this location with my family after my graduation. Our server (Jonny) was great. He was friendly, and he took excellent care of us during our meal. The food was great, and the Peking duck course was extremely tasty. Great service, great atmosphere, and great food. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants fusion food with amazing service and food.

I recently dined at Yorkdale Yu Seafood and it was an extraordinary experience from start to finish. The ambiance was warm and inviting. The menu offered a wide variety of dishes, each sounding more delicious then the last. The Peking duck was hands down a show stopper. I will defiantly be recommending Yu seafood to all my friends and family.

Outstanding Chinese food and service...really nothing else to write!

We were curious about Yu Resto and initially thought it was a small space, but we were amazed when we entered. The restaurant is spacious, with large tables and friendly staff. I love the cleanliness of the place, especially since you can see the food being prepared on the ground floor. The food was delicious, and the service was excellent! Karen, thank you for all your assistance and excellent customer service :-). Jenny always greeted us with a smile while bringing our food. Karen and Jenny make a great team and with the other colleagues! Thank you to all the staff for making our visit memorable. We love the place and will plan to be back.

Food was good compared to other dimsum restaurants. But for the price point, I expected something outstanding. Service was above average, the waitress was very respectful, patient. When my friend paid the bill, she was kind of disappointed about the tips my friend gave her around first and then asking for what she should deserve (imo) in a very polite way.

We have such a nice dinner and got to say thank you to our server Celia, very respectful and a nice young lady. Service is 10/10 and 10+ for the experience!! We will absolutely coming back!

Fancy and excellent dim sum in Yorkdale. We had a great first experience with my family, most (if not everything) is homemade. They handled very well our 3 tables. I definitely recommend!

This is my favorite morning tea snack I have eaten in Toronto. Although the variety is a little less, it does not affect my good impression of it at all. It is a true Cantonese-style or Hong Kong-style morning tea!

I went to celebrate my birthday at the restaurant as I was craving for some elevated Chinese food. The food was fine and the portions were adequate for the price. However, what should have been a good experience turned out to be something else to say the least. Cleanliness issue We arrived on time with the restaurant quite empty. We were made to sit in a corner which was a tad bit gloomy but we asked to be seated on the patio area where it felt more lively. As soon as I sat down at the table on the patio, I noticed that one of my plates was not clean. I asked the waiter to change my plate but then my relatives noticed that their plates were also dirty. There was even rice under one of the plates. The cleaning and sanitation left to be desired. The dishes were not cleaned properly. I had to ask the waiter to change everything at the table. Service issue Another waiter came afterwards to take our order. The food came quite quickly but the drinks never came. We had to ask multiple times and we were told that the drink orders were not properly punched in on their system. Payment issue I thought this would be it with the incidents when the waiter graciously offered me a free birthday bun when he heard it was my birthday. He said it would be on the house. However, we got charged for the complimentary birthday bun. We had to get refunded and redo the payment again. It was whole ordeal. I have seen much better upscale restaurants. The decor is nice and the food is ok. I would not define this place as upscale with all these flaws in the service and the customer himself having to pinpoint things out for them to do something. The waiters seemed to be doing an effort to make this experience a good one but it fell short because of the different issues during the night.

We had a really great experience with the Yorkdale Yu Seafood. The food is even better than their original location at Beaver Creek, and the atmosphere is really appealing. We especially appreciate for being attentively cared by Karen. Will be back for sure!

Vegetarian options: There are some vegetarian options Kid-friendliness: They provide high chairs and childrens utensils, plates, and cups. If they have open tables you can speak to them about choosing one that is more spacious and accommodating for your child. There is an elevator to go up to the second floor. There is enough space between tables/areas you can bring a stroller. There is a change table in the accessible washroom. Food selection is very limited for younger babies/toddlers. Especially during dim sum. We brought our own food and gave little bits of meat from some dumplings and meatball to our toddler. Wheelchair accessibility: There is an elevator to get to the second floor. There is an accessible washroom.

Yu Seafood is my go-to restaurant in North York, especially when I need to host a group. The food is absolutely delicious. I dont think Ive had a single thing there that I didnt like. Would also recommend their speciality cocktails like the Jade & Tonic. I most recently booked the VIP Room for a private event and service was excellent from the time of booking all the way to correspondence via email afterwards. I have tremendous respect for the owners and servers because the service is always outstanding. I have yet to find anywhere that provides such an upscale experience for this price!

Worst customer service ever! I used to like having dim sum here. But not anymore for sure. The waitress serving our table was very impatient. I decided not to order any tea, so I said hot water please. She was questioning me, what type of hot water????? When I had an issue with my card while paying, I asked her for help. She just stood behind me, impatiently saying wait wait wait wait, im busy with other things Her tone was very unfriendly. I really wish I hadnt left any tip.
