Good prices on their subs. Traditional style subs buy their claim to fame in bacon. They use a lot of it and it's the real stuff, not that tiny thin stick of goo Subway uses.
Small place, very good fresh ingredients, went with my friend we each tried a different sub and both were very good .
This place is an institution. Rarely do I feel compelled to write reviews but this place is just special. The whole wheat bread excellent, the cold cuts are the best you’ll find, and the vegetables are crisp and fresh. I dare you to come to this place and even try to set foot in a subway again
Back in the old days, Toronto had many deli shops in downtown neighbourhoods. Belly Buster is like one of those but in the modern way. The service is good, the food is good. No BS and no pretentious attitude. The “small” assorted sub I had was equivalent, in size, to the other sub franchises everywhere else. The sub was excellent and big enough to be tie me over until dinner. One appreciates this in this time of reduced sizes at other places.
Solid sandwich shop with quick and friendly service. I got the pulled pork footlong and it had a good amount of meat inside it. And best of all, they offer mushrooms as a topping! Definitely better quality sandwiches than your other typical sandwich chains.
The subs here are great! I didn't expect much here but for the price, it's better value than a Firehouse Sub and better quality and taste than Subway. The staff were friendly and I'll definitely be coming back!
The Subs here are good. The bread is soft and the ingredients are fresh. The Chicken Sub was very tasty! It’s one of those sandwiches that sandwich dreams are made of! Keep Up The Good Work!
Agree with everyone else, this is a classic quick service sub shop. Bread was fresh, plenty of meat and the mayo ratio was good. I'm picky with my pickles and I really liked the ones they had here. Clean store and good pricing. Waited less than five minutes to get my assorted sub - I'll definitely be back!
Terrible food and service. I spend $40 and they wouldnt even let me use their washrooms. Low quality subs and the people working there are no better
Great sandwich. Would come back again if in the area
I gone to the belly buster at 389 King Street West and I have to admit the service was astronomical. The lady was extremely polite and very courteous and patient. The sub Id ordered was an assorted super Sub and it was huge I could not eat it in one sitting.
Best sub in place in town! Love coming here when I m in Toronto.
It really pains me to give a bad review of this place but I feel something should be said. Ive been going to Belly Busters for over 20+ years and have never had a reason for complaint until now. A couple of orders ago I noticed the bread was different. I actually thought it may have been stale. Odd because the bread has never been off. It put me off enough that I didnt order again until 2 months later hoping that it had just been a fluke those last times. Sadly I was disappointed once again. The bread has been changed?? It used to be soft and a perfect compliment to the contents inside. I had even spoke to others who were Belly Buster fans and found they had the same opinion. The bread just tastes stale and ruins the sandwich overall. Maybe a new supplier?? Bottom line, all the elements that use to make this sandwich great are now lacking. One small change can make a HUGE impact and very begrudgingly I think my days of ordering a Belly Buster sandwich has come to an end. I have since found out that they do make their own bread there now, as opposed to having it brought in. I will say that yes it s nice having fresh bread, but it is still different from the original sandwiches that we as a family have come to love. It s still good, but it s not what we fell in love with.
Excellent food! Been coming here since 1990!
When I used to go there 40 years ago, to the location on Yonge and Lawrence, a chap named Mario worked there and he was the best. Took pictures of the customers and was super friendly.
This is a decent sub. Good value.
I got the turkey bacon and it was such a delicious fresh sub. Also loved the crunch of the onions. Will get again.
Been going for many years...guys always serve up a great sub! Bacon Combo w/ extra bacon for the win!
Not a ,bad sandwich place
Thomas and Chris is are absolutely gems. This spot has been a family favourite of ours for years, and tonight, Thomas made our night. Such friendly customer service, very personal, and he has a great smile. Fantastic food also!
I gotta tell you, this sub I had in the city was absolutely amazing! Seriously, youve gotta check out the photo I uploaded. It speaks volumes on its own.
I normally go to subway as it is closer, but the turkey bacon sub was great and you can actually taste the cheese unlike subway.
I havent been to this shop in ages and it was the same as always. Friendly, fast, and delicious.
I would give it 3.5 stars if that was an option. It s not bad, not great either. The staff are nice but for the price and quality of food, I d go to Mr. Sub instead. Food : 3/5
Belly Buster is an institution I grew up with. They always deliver fresh, perfect sandwiches. Also, they just generously provided 3 massive platters for the local high school (Lawrence Park) for my daughter s conference. I will always buy / support this fabulous local business!
Awesome subs!!! And great service!!!
Kid-friendliness: Very fresh food! Excellent service from Dimitri Food
Was driving around looking for a washroom and a bite to eat... not specifically in that order but thats how it happened. Ordered an assorted cold cuts sub. It was pretty ordinary to be fair. Nothing fancy, nothing to justify the BellyBuster sign, honestly nothing different to Subway or any other generic sub shop. Not saying it was bad, far from it, it was tasty but I expected more and the wow factor wasnt there. Lots of people behind the counter not much in the way of communication. Washroom down in the basement was in need of a facelift.
Excellent on all fronts. Thank you for the 5 subs. Haha. I ate them all ®
Hadnt been here in years. Had the bellybuster sub. Will be back.
First time at Bellys in a long time after noticing their quality suffer after new owners years ago. I cannot begin to express how disappointing and disgusting the Turkey Bacon sub I just tried to eat. After 1 bite, no flavor, 3 bites in the garbage. This is very not good for $15. The place was dead at 12 noon. This place used be very busy. Im assuming delivery apps have kept this place afloat over the years because anyone who grew up with it will see how bad it is now. Its even edible.
Quick and friendly service with a perfectly crafted sub. I mean it was put tougher neatly and beautifully and quickly. Theirs subs are always delicious and somehow always more filling than meets the eye best subs I have had in Toronto!
Terrible customer service . What is that ?!
Just ordered a sandwich in person 30 mins ago. Everyone seems distracted. The person taking my order answered the phone in the middle of the order. The person making the sandwiches slapped down the wrong ingredients with no regard. I ve worked in hospitality for a long time, and this is not how business is done. I ve been to other belly busters locations dozens of times, and rarely get this kind of service and delivery. Edit: I would add that the person taking the order for all the sandwich ingredients was not the same person making the sandwich. I ve never experienced this before at another belly busters location, nor is this the practice at other sandwich places like subway or Mr sub. It made it very easy for the order to get made wrong, and it was unclear which sandwich the sandwich maker was making so I was not able to stop them from putting the wrong ingredients on despite being in person.
We ordered through Ubereats. Fresh and tasty subs. Thank you.
Great place for an old school sub.
Stale buns veggies was not fresh first time eating here and the last
Staff were very nice but we weren t offered all topping options as they started to dress our subs. Amount of meat is decent but stingy on toppings, including unripe tomatoes, tasteless pickles and sauces that were forgotten. Sadly overpriced, dry subs.
Staff was super friendly and the good is always amazing.
Best subs in the city!! Everything on the menu is amazing and delicious. Very fresh ingredients and the bacon .. soooooooo good. Vegetarian options: Great veggie subs
9 out of 10 times I go into this place I kinda wish I didnt Im not to sure how they got such a good star rating but these guys are a like drill sergeants and I actually feel like they are doing me a favor by taking my money or at least thats what they think I think its fair to say that most places suffer from this same problems these days some call it lack of customer service I call it plain old ignorance, what ever happen to putting on a smile real or fake when it comes to customer appreciation I honestly leave this place laughing all the way to the truck at how bad 9 out of 10 of these guys are at quote customer service unquote, I think that this world is failing miserably and its literally heart breaking to be apart of . I dont wanna have to lick the meatballs of the table just to enjoy my submarine guys please take this for what it is SMH.
A Toronto staple that everyone must frequent at least once. Incredible food, atmosphere and memories.
Amazing quality, always too notch.
I have been having BB Subs for 20 years every time in the area I pick a couple for the family. Yes all the subs are good
Best subs around!!! Staff was very kind. Ill definitely be back, you should go and try it for yourself!!!
This opinion from a former old school Mr Submarine master. Belly Buster is about the best submarine place in the city since the old Mr Submarine days of the 80s. Back then Silversteins bakery (McCaul St), used to supply all of Mr Submarines buns. And, they were amazing buns! Not the in-house baked nonsense you see now (first introduced by Subway Sub in late 80s early 90s). But, everyone loved the smell of fresh baked bread when they walked into the store. And the choice of white, whole wheat, honey oat, all that was good. But, the bread quality was and still is pretty much garbage. Also, back then you had a dedicated 6-in bun (which was actually 8 in). Now, both Mr Sub and Subway just cut their 12s in half. Subway first introduced multiple toppings for free which Mr Submarine immediately adopted. That was good (Mr Submarine previously had limited toppings and used to charge for extras). Also, all their meats were pre-cut and pre-portioned. Perhaps worst of all was that their lettuce was also pre-cut off-site and shipped in. Sadly, this is now the industry standard. The lettuce served at Subway and Mr Sub is vacuum packed in nitrogen and, can be weeks old by the time it gets to your plate. I digress. Wisely, (and thankfully), Belly Buster cuts their own lettuce daily. Not too crazy about the purple onions - Vidalias would be my choice. The one thing that could truly elevate the Belly Buster sub would be to source a bakery to supply their buns. For that, they would get 5 stars.
Classic subs Turkey-bacon or bust! Food
Excellent subs. I enjoy the service of the weekday crew compared to the weekend but I will always go out of my way for BB
Truly, the end of an era. I have been going to this location for ~10 years. I have picked up subs during the daytime, or from the same 2AM night crew for ages. Stacked microwaves. Vintage booths. Classic photos. Turkey Bacon. Im not sure when exactly things changed, but it definitely happened after franchising. Okay, so the vibe is different, but the food is the same? Not really. Today I picked up the classic Turkey Bacon - it let me down. The magic is gone, the party is over.
Super fresh and tasty@!!
Great place. Have always heard good things about this restaurant. Gave it a try yesterday, did not disappoint in any way. Sandwich was well made with lots of meat.
Best assorted subs in the GTA ( 3 years ago when I posted this first review).. now I will not go back , was almost charged 3 dollars extra for my sub , only caught it when the math didnt make sense in my head... Tried to charge me for the most expensive sub on the menu when I got an assorted.... The worst part is I get home to find none of the toppings that I asked for on it (mushrooms and pickles) instead to my dismay.... Loads of hot peppers( I dont do spicy) ... I dont normally complain but thats just unacceptable it was 1am and no one else in the shop... What a shame which is sad Ive been coming here for years and years and would always stop when in the area... Again... I wont be wasting my money
Great place and awesome service always a great sub
I got a beef sandwich today, I recommend it
Horrible! Use to love their bacon turkey...Use to be the best. Today we spent $31.62 for 2 of tye worst subs ever...would have been happy to pay this price if it was as good as it use to be...is it under new owners???
Certainly a cut above other chains and feels more like a traditional Italian deli. Fresh ingredients, quick service, and well staffed.
Wanted to try a different sandwich shop so came here. I was really pleased with my meal, I had a small bacon combo and a drink. The food was fresh and super tasty, and the staff were welcoming and friendly. There isnt much in the way of seating but what is there is fine for a quick lunch. Would definitely recommend this place instead of Subway!
I have been coming here for the past 16 years. This place is a staple for a quality sub, hands down! Turkey bacon so yummy!
Good for a quick craving, and theyre fast but I didnt realize they panini press the sub and use fake cheese... so that was a disappointment but overall it Okay.
Its subway with hype, extremely disappointing with all these reviews. I think its all nostalgia with these folks since its an old location
I mean, this is a hard review to drop. I love this place and the subs. But these news hours are absolutely crazy. From open late to now closing almost every day at 2:30pm means they only want lunch crowds, so I guess Ill never be able to eat here again since I dont work in the immediate area. If you work near here, its great subs. @Owner - I even called and the person confirmed it was 2pm. That said, I see youve changed your hours back to a time when people can go
One the best subs place in Toronto!
Subs are pretty average, owner was very nice, customer service was pretty good
Had chicken bacon sub Love it so much especially with bbq sauce , was soo good. Price is reasonable. Definitely a place to come back soon
Their subs are the best.
Great subs!! Recommended
:D You are so wonderful for the cookies! It brightened my sad and stressful night I was having seeing cookies appear in my bag. You guys rock and the turkey sub was great! God bless you! and Thank you, Thank you, Thank you again!!!!
Ive been coming to Belly busters (this the original location) for about 35 years. I was a little concerned on a recent visit as it was my first time there in about a year. (easily the longest Ive gone without a visit) It was renovated and seemed to be under new ownership. Ill admit, it was kind sad to see the old sign with the one last flashing bulb still blinking no longer there. I loved the nostalgia of that place. Anyway, I just wanted to pop in here to say despite the reno, and seemingly under new ownership, the sub tasted the exact same thank God. (I always get the bacon sub) I was also wondering if they still gave out the loyalty cards as I just redeemed my old one on my previous visit since I had 12 stamps. Indeed they do still give them out! I got a new card and looking forward to filling it up as I love Bellys.
Is this place under new management? I have been coming here for the past 10 years and today was treated VERY rudely by a staff member when ordering lunch. As one staff member was about to wrap up my sub, I pointed out that she had not put in any bacon as ordered. She replied that it was in there, and politely replied that I didnt see her put it on. The white male coworker who was putting on the veggies rudely replied yeah, yeah, we got it. The female worker double-checked and indeed the bacon was still in the microwave and not on my sub. She then corrected her error. No apology was given by the male coworker in how he spoke at me. Not sure if it was the colour of my skin that triggered the white male, or perhaps being female, or that I was wearing a mask, or if he was simply just a jerk. With so many other food options in this city, and with the food here becoming more average and overpriced over the years, I will definitely be taking my business elsewhere. As a female POC, I will not be returning. Oh, and this whole interaction occurred in front of my 2 young children standing beside me. So at least it was an opportunity to teach 6 and 8 year old girls what rudeness looks like.
I got take out. By the time I got home, which was about an hour drive, the sides of the bread on the sub was soggy This isn t the same sub, I remember.
I LOVE this place! They put care into their work and really made me feel (over many, many occasions) valued. I ordered delivery and they had to make a substitution for my orangina (they ran out). They tried to call me and left the sweeteat handwriiten note. Honestly just the beat fplks around. Delicious subs, best in T.O. Every. Single. Time. Many thanks!!!
Best subs in Toronto, great staff.
Will never eat at Subway again .after eating at this place Vegetarian options: Amazing selection Food : 5/5 |
Belly Busters Sandwich, hands down, serves some of the most scrumptious sandwiches, but what makes the experience truly outstanding is Benu. Benu is the best! The dedication and skill put into crafting each sandwich is truly exceptional. If youre looking for a delicious meal with top-notch service, Benu at Belly Busters is the way to go.
Decent but I do wish they would toast the bread.
Pretty OK subs, somethings missing but dunno what
Amazing restaurant, amazing people.
Courteous service. Delicious sub sandwiches. Competitive pricing.
My new favorite place just simple with good vibe
Barely any meat, no flavour. The man running the till was touching the sauce bottles the woman making the sub was also touching without washing hands.. gross all around.
Best subs around!! There is no doubt about it. WOW!!
Friendly people but I wouldn t go back. Very underwhelming subs and a waste of money
Nothing like it used to be.
We finally remembered to go here and Its Damn good!! Real ingredients unlike those other two big name sub places that are questionable at best! The bread here is a real standout for us, soft but with a tasteful quality to it. Crispy bacon and their deli meat isnt slimy and tasteless like those other places are. Really nice people working inside and the menu is classic and rustic, the way a sub shop should be in our opinion. The lettuce is shredded and gives an air of nostalgia to the sandwich along with the other toppings you choose to put on. They even write your order on the back of the sub bag to ensure quality assurance! Brilliant and Classic through and through!! Well be back!!!
So good and I love how they re open super late. Went there well after midnight on a Thursday night and it was practically the only spot on Yonge with the lights on. As well, the quality did not waiver. It was delicious as always, quickly prepared, and reasonably priced.
Surprisingly deceptively delicious subs. Seem basic but taste amazing. Update: changed from 5 stars to 3 stars. Remodelled the inside and changed how they assemble the subs. Most of the magic is gone and now its just a below average $14 sub.
Nice new store renovations but the old school charm is lost. The once legendary bacon combo sub now lacks thick and crispy bacon. The drink variety has gone down but that isnt an issue for me. I miss the OG bacon and drunk pictures on the wall. My review is 3 stars but ill give 4 out of respect to this once local legend.
Best subs in the city and the staff is awesome
Amazing spot. Dont miss out these subs are the subs our city deserves lol.
The turkey bacon is to die for.
Consistently good. Very clean and staff is always friendly. Service is quick. New renovations looks great
A classic
Hands down the best subs in Toronto. Old school Mr. Sub. Will definitely be going back often!
Classic sub. Nothing to complain about.
One of the top 2 sub places in the city. Try the bacon turkey. Its awesome!
You kidding? What are you doing here reading reviews? Just get to bellys now for the most fresh, delicious sub youll ever try. Crispy bacon, shredded lettuce.... Bellys is the stuff that dreams are made of
Food was good, service was friendly.
First time here today and the everything in the sub taste soooo fresh!!!! I love
Best subs in Toronto....Hands down
Love this place long time but STOP FORGETTING MY CHOCOLATE MILK WHEN ORDERING SKIP! Best subs in town.
Yes. My belly was busted.
Great place for an old fashioned sub. Always fresh bread. Ingredients are fresh and good variety as well.
Always fantastic, fresh bread, plentiful fresh toppings and lots of meat.
My favorite sub place, have been going for 25 years. Turkey/ham/bacon is my go-to. Fantastic perfect old school delicious
Toronto GOAT subs. Nothing else to say. The best.
By far the best subs in Toronto and probably that Ive ever had. Been going to Belly Busters for over 20 years! Fresh ingredients, fresh bread, great quality meat and incredibly friendly staff. Thank you Chris and Team! Highly recommend
If you are looking for the perfect sandwiches - they are here
Its that sub you remember from long ago. Finding one is like discovering dino remains! Ive never had issues with the deli meat or produce here, which I cant say for Subway locations.
Fantastic classic spot for sub sandwiches. Theyre incredibly efficient here given the crazy number of call in, and Uber orders. Prices still remain competitive considering everything that you get.
Nothing special here, rude workers , I ordered a breaded chicken sub. The pieces of chicken were so hard I had a hard time breaking them apart with my hands let alone actually take a bite into it . Wouldn t recommend this place
deeeeelicious! The super assorted is my absolute go to! Mr Sub or Subway don t come close! Simple and delicious subs made quickly and cleanly while you wait! There s not too ,Amy of these shops left, so when one does come around enjoy it while you can! The toppings are abundant and the meat is mouthful. Anything and everything is to go for the most part. The only issue is the lack of parking to grab your sammie, so you may struggle! But it s worth the 30$ parking violation fee for this sub !
A sub institution for the neighborhood highly recommend
Subs. They do the Belly Buster right.
Its great, still as good as I remember it when I went here when I was in high school.
Yummy old school subs, love it!
Absolutely loved it.
The Turkey sub is the best !!!!! Love this place
Awesome subs and big servings Great service
Always excellent service and exceptional taste, fresh ingredients
Best sub in town
Classic neighborhood spot and family runned, worth the travel to. Been around for decades, love places like this.
Super him
The turkey bacon sub is always a hit
Ordered here first time and it was great. Second time - food was completely off. Uber eats driver gave me the wrong order. Can you guys at least make it easier for the drivers to know which food belong to who, like other fast food restaurants staple the receipt outside the bag, not shoving it inside the bag.
First time! Great place! Amazing food, fresh and tasty
I love this place. Classic subs done right. Friendly staff. My go to is the turkey bacon.
Probably the best sub place in the city. I usually get assorted cold cut. But everything Ive had here is incredible.
The beef belly buster is the classic! And they have Brio!
They got our order wrong but they make a tasty sub.
Good sub owner was very gentle and friendly
Super fresh old school sub. I got the 12 super stack and it was piled high with turkey, ham and salami. Much better than anything I ve had from the chain sub spots. Will definitely be back.
Classic sub place thats been around forever. So classic they still only accept cash
Great price, tasty subs! Wonderful!
Love these guys man. Straight up homemade subs for the right place. Cant go wrong with these guys
I like this place
If you haven t tried these subs, you are strongly missing out! I m a huge sub-girl, and nothing hits the spot like Belly Busters! Awesome service, clean place and delicious subs. They never cheap out on toppings, unlike other places! Definitely recommend!!! Thanks for the delicious food always
Fresh and filling
I ve ordered here many times, tried the turkey bacon, meatball and tuna sub, they re all great.
Always have a great experience at Bellies. Love the staff.
turkey dbl bacon. good proportions. I enjoyed it
Fresh ingredients and pleasant staff
Do yourself a favour, next time you ve had a couple of drinks or a newly legal substance, safely get yourself over to Belly s. Order a turkey bacon. Get extra bacon. The guys are quick and the food is well, it s nothing you can t get at a store but they ve gotta do something to it that makes it WORK. Best enjoyed after midnight. Or any time.
Cheap with the meat and the bun was old
If youre into the old school family run sub shops this is the place to go. Very friendly staff to serve us and help us decide what subs to get very clean facilities and very quick. The city is swamped with franchise and corporate sub shops but these mom and pop home shops are the best. Always support local business as much as you can and good job to the team at belly Busters for making me a fantastic turkey bacon sub.
Decided to stop in for lunch. Picked up a corn beef foot long. Sandwich was just aight. Nothing special. A little to much pickle juice that ended up soaking my entire sandwich. The 4 microwave heat up method is classico.
Outstanding subs, one start deducted because it could use interior and exterior upgrades.
The lettuce is finely chopped - the way I like it. It may seem a small detail but I think it makes a big difference for me because it shows how theyre focused on providing good ingredients for their subs.
I am not going to compare Belly Buster Subs to any other subs in the city because I think Belly Buster is just a touch different. You can hit this spot super late, and get a high quality product. There are not a lot of late night joints that can claim that. That being said, nothing should stop you from coming here during the day for a sub, these are great subs. I would say the bread was a stand out here, the consistency and density is just so perfect for a sub. If youre looking for some crazy fancy sub this is not the place, but if you are looking for a rock solid, high quality, awesome sub, this is the spot. This place is absolute rocks.
The SUb Kings Best sub in Toronto. Add the bacon it s worth it. Old school clean sub. Thomas and Mike are great, way better then subway
The best breaded chicken sub! Fresh ingredients, yummy taste and decent prices. No complaints, only compliments and one recommendation: if you could get the sub grilled, the subs are going to be irresistible!
Bacon combo with gravy!!! Best sub around!
Best for the past 30 years and still going
The staff does not have gloves when they prepare the sandwiches.
Best sub shop hands down I would rather support their shop over the many franchises in the area. Staff are very friendly, and often give my pooch a little treat when we come by. Ingredients are fresh and I have never encountered a stale bun, and am always satisfied. The turkey bacon is my absolute favourite. Theyre always open late and make a great late night snack.
Had the Stacked sub, and a milkshake. Both were great. Good portions and meat, bread was nice, and milkshake was tasty. Great place to try
Friendly staff. Great subs. Recommended
Their cold cuts are really good. Best late night munchies. They need a grill tho
Just ordered through under eats 2 large subs 2 drinks and 2 chocolate bars only got half my order called them and they said I could come pick it up if I could of I wouldnt of ordered it through uber eats . This is the second time this has happened and I will not waste my time or money here again.
Old-school and very cool subs place. Really enjoyed my sub here.
Very disappointed. Read many reviews about the Turkey Bacon sub that were great. None of them mentioned it only having 2 thin slices of turkey on it...for $13 for a 12 inch, 2 thin slices of turkey is a huge rip off. I will never be ordering from here again. Warning to all, very small portions.
Curbs my sub craving!!
Amazing subs! Fresh bread and quality ingredients. Delicious!
Great food, great service with great prices
Used to be a five star, but it looks like the prices have doubled??? Miss the after hour bar place to grab a sub that was affordable!
A Toronto institution.
Better the subway thats for sure
Tasty food, they make it very fast
