Had a delicious falafel sandwich served by friendly staff. And Orangina in a BOTTLE - hard to come by these days. Only problem is it was freezing in there!

Waited half an hour for a sandwich disappointed

Local neighborhood spot that has the best made to order sandwiches in the city. During peak lunch hours you may need wait...but all the good sandwiches places are like that. If youre in the St. Lawrence area...please spot by and give them love. You wont regret it.

Sean is a gem and the Philly cheesesteak has the most tender meat compared to a lot of them in Toronto these days. He s put a lot of care into his cafe and it shows

Exactly what we wanted it to be. Shared a club sandwich and a Philly cheese steak and they were excellent. Great quality and incredible value for money.

Honestly, the nicest folks youre ever going to meet! PERFECT croissants and they offer non-breakfast sausage sausage with their breakfast menu options. The pastries TASTE made in-house and made with love. DEE-lish!

I stopped by Berkeley Cafe for some breakfast and a coffee whilst waiting for an appointment. I was warmly greeted immediately, and when ordering I was provided with great recommendations to ensure I had the most enjoyable breakfast. It s unfortunately not as common to receive great service anymore, and I can honestly say the gentleman went above and beyond - even with just serving me a breakfast sandwich (simple and delicious btw) and some coffee. I ll definitely be paying the Berkeley Cafe regular visits from here on out!

This is a my favourite neighbourhood cafe. I like their excellent coffee, freshly made croissants and pastries as well as their sandwiches. All that with friendly service. worth the visit.

We stopped here on our city trip and had sandwiches. The good reviews are absolutely justified! The Ham & Cheese and the BLT sandwich were great and the service was really nice.

This cafe has the best Nutella-filled croissants. The croissants are flakey with generous amounts of nutella inside. They also make a solid iced Americano. Highly recommend!

Delicious cold brew!!!!!

Very nice place, delicious coffee, but I was very disappointed that they serve those delicious coffee for dine-in into the disposable cups. This is not so big coffee shop that they couldn t handle to wash few coffee cups especially when we saw that a server wasn t so busy. At least there could be this option for customers to choose cups -peace and think more about our environment ;)

Such a superb spot. Everyone here is so extremely courteous and respectful. It s such a breath of fresh air to go into an establishment and feel like you re treated just like everyone else. Now that I ve discovered them and feel so safe because of their kindness, they ll always have a customer from me and every single person I know! Love love love this cafe.

Popped in for breakfast, cute non pretentious place. I got an egg and cheese croissant and a soy latte. the croissant was EXCELLENT and made to order, and the latte was really smooth and enjoyable. The staff were also kind and efficient, and on top of that everything was really well priced. $11 for a really great breakfast. I would definitely recommend this place Vegetarian options: the egg and cheese croissant is a great vegetarian breakfast option

Berkeley Cafe catered a business lunch meeting for my company and did a wonderful job. The sandwiches, salads and desserts were delicious. Sean was amazing in getting everything done on time with little notice and was very helpful, accommodating, and flexible. Will be using them again and definitely recommend! What a wonderful experience! Incredibly kind staff, and delicious food. We had the Philly and Chopped Cheese - and both were *chefs kiss*. Some of the best sandwiches I ve ever had. The pastries are also a must try - the cherry danish deserves to be in a hall of fame. And very good coffee - we had excellent lattes. To top all this off with some of the most courteous and welcoming service in the city, wow! This cafe is a must visit.

What a gem! After a disappointing traipse through the entire Distillery Winter Market finding nothing for a warm, sit down, leisurely breakfast before 10AM, we turned to Google and found this quaint cafe and a warm welcome from Sean? Shawn? manning the counter (As overheard from another customer). Obviously a neighbourhood favourite! After assurances of croissants made on premise, we tucked into delicious buttery egg and bacon; and egg and sausage cheesy sandwiches. Topping the meal off with hashbrowns and a hot chocolate for the niece and Americano made just right, we were fortified to wander the opening market. Everything was portable too if you re on your way to the office from the east end of downtown! Charming and hit the spot!

I come here for lunch almost everyday all their sandwiches are amazing! They have specials for lunch as well I have yet to dislike anything from here. The owners are so nice and friendly. You could tell they use quality ingredients. The pastries are also really good! And they are house made. Can t recommend this place enough. Also their breakfast sandwiches are really good and they have a large selection of teas that I love! Don t hesitate to stop by you won t be disappointed :)

The perfect spot for straight-up good vibes, and delicious snacks & coffee. I came here to do a little work, and was so warmly greeted. I really loved the interactions with the regulars and the owners. Non-stop kindness in every direction from helping with the door, making sure everyone had a napkin, wifi if needed... everything you could imagine from great hospitality and then some! My first time of many more in the future!

This place, the owner/cashier and the food deserves 5 star. I will visit again. Also, it seemed to me that it is a self-serve place but it is not :) which is great! The owner serves you at the table.

Ive just moved downtown and have been looking for independent businesses that offer excellent food (flavour and ingredients), a warm space, friendly service, and great drinks. Berkeley Cafe serves up this combination as effortlessly as its incredible croissants. So far, Ive had their drip coffee (thats what I always have), their breakfast croissant with bacon, egg, and cheese (the croissant was incredible), and their Philly Cheese Steak sandwich (pictured). The owner is kind, patient, welcoming, and knowledgeable. He also clearly cares about the food, which makes you care about it too. I see myself being a regular, unlike Berkeley Cafes excellent fare, which is a fine exception to bump into unexpectedly.

This is the best breakfast and lunch sandwich place in the neighborhood. Ive tried half the menu at this point and everything is good. The chicken sandwich, breakfast croissant, philly cheese steak, cob salad in particular are very very good. Nice coffee machines. The bread is made in house, the chicken is nicely marinated, its just good quality ingredients and great recipes. Decor is classy and relaxed inside and its a family run place. Prices are fair. Whats not to like? This is a good business to support.

Sean is a master!!! He remembers everyones orders, and the food is to DIE FOR!!! The Philly Cheese Steak sandwich is a major hit, and Im going back for more!!! Coffee superior to Starbucks as well as the pastries are always fresh! The raw sugar danishes are my favourite!!! You SERIOUSLY are missing out if you dont swing by for your morning caffeine fix! Vegetarian options: Though Im not vegetarian, I appreciate their sensitivity to those who are, as well as their appreciation for minimising their carbon footprint by recycling!

Berkeley Cafe is definitely a local favourite! Ive tried most of their sandwiches and can say that you cant go wrong with any - though the chopped cheese and philly cheesesteak are probably my favourites. Everything is fresh and homemade, and the owners are lovely and attentive to each customer!

Ive been going to the Berkeley St Cafe (on the Esplanade) for over a year. I sometimes meet friends there for coffee or lunch and the proprietor Sean is very welcoming. The coffee is always good - and not expensive! And Im often surprised by the menu, which offers a variety of delicious light and hearty dishes. Its well priced too. I recently enjoyed a coffee from the Berkeley during a warm day while sitting at one of its outdoor tables. From under the shade of a tree, I could see an outdoor photography exhibit, put on by the arts hub next door, and hear in the background kids laughing and playing at the nearby school. Highly recommend this spot!

What a gem! I had an Iced Americano and shared a croissant with my 1 year old daughter. We love the location, right next to the park!

The BEST falafel sandwich Ive ever had. Breakfast options are also great. Only complaint is that their to-go cups tend to leak (especially with tea). I was working nearby for a week and it was my favourite spot to grab breakfast or lunch. Vegetarian options: Falafel is the only vegetarian lunch sandwich but its so good, I had no issue with eating it several days in a row. Egg and cheese croissant is also great. Pastries etc. are mostly vegetarian.

I had the falafel sandwich in a freshly baked baguette. It was so fresh and delicious, with a special home made sauce. Super friendly owner who makes you feel at home. A truly unique experience.

An absolute gem of the neighbourhood. I walked in for a bite to eat and work and fell in love with the Cobb salad there. This is definitely loved by the locals as the owner knows all the regulars names and orders. A great place to work, people watch, and just enjoy.

I like this spot. It s conveniently located close to the Toronto Distillery District and they have a very nice front patio. The atmosphere of this sweet spot is very pleasant and the moment you walk in you re greeted with the pleasant aroma of what must be delicious food. All I had was a coffee, but I got to say, the server was courteous and considerate. He asked if my buddy and I could wait for a few minutes while he made a fresh pot of coffee for us. Service, right?? Now that s what makes a big difference in business. I highly recommend this spot and as Arnold would say, I ll be back.

Lovely cafe with very friendly owners/workers. Ordered the chopped sandwich and almond cookie which were both delicious. Service does take a bit longer, but I don t mind as it reminds me to slow down. Will definitely be coming again!

Came in for a very late lunch and it was pretty close to closing. Thankfully the staff was super accommodating and made us a sandwich despite the kitchen being closed. I chose this spot based on reviews, and it absolutely held up to its 5 star rating! Popped in for lunch and had one of the best sandwiches Ive ever eaten! It may have been a simple ham and cheese sandwich, but everything from the fresh tomatoes to fresh, daily, in house made baguette made it the perfect comfort food. Impressed by the quality of ingredients and care put into every order. The owner was incredibly personable and welcoming. You know its a great place when several locals come for lunch and the owner knows them by name and order! Great place! Highly recommend!

Popped in looking for a tea and a place to sit before a meeting. Found a great little Cafe in this part of town. The tea was excellent. Theyve got the standard Higgins & Burke, but theyve also got this lovely selection of imported herbal teas and you owe it to yourself to try one they are absolutely delicious and I cant wait to come back and buy a box! Grabbed a bagel as well while I was there, no complaints, I got it hot and fast and the cream cheese was the perfect amount and texture. Interior is cute, and theres a nice little seating area outside under a tree for some shade. Cant wait to come back again next time Im in the area

I absolutely love everything about this cute, cozy local cafe in our neighborhood. They serve the best, freshest, and healthiest food. The Philly steak sandwiches are incredibly satisfying, and their macaroni salads, desserts, and coffee are all delightful. The prices are also incredibly reasonable, making it the best imaginable deal. This cafe is definitely my new go-to spot!

Lovely neighbourhood place for coffee, snacks and takeout lunch

The BEST sandwiches! Fresh baked bread and pastries everyday! My favourites are the chopped cheese, grilled chicken, egg salad (on an everything croissant) and the feta, egg and Kalamata olives on a croissant! I am so lucky to work so close to such a great lunch spot.

I ve been coming to Berkley Cafe for about a year now. I work in film and we were filming a documentary next door to the cafe for several months this past year and we ordered sandwiches and soups almost every day for the cast and crew. Even when we would offer the crew the possibly to switch up the lunch spot, their favorite spot was always here and we continued to order from them 4 out of 5 days of the working week for like 6 months until we wrapped on shooting the show. Since wrapping I still stop by here myself for the chicken sandwich and Philly cheese steak. Also occasionally I go out of my way in the mornings to pick up the feta egg and Kalamata olive croissant breakfast sandwich. Shawn the owner is amazing! Super accommodating and would always hustle to make sure our meals were on time and hot. Also they are all super friendly here and offer a great selection of in house made sandwiches and soups. There s also a cute sitting area outside and nice park across the street to sit at and eat your meal or drink your coffee. As you can tell, I Highly recommend! Thank you Berkley Cafe / Shawn!

I recommend the chopped cheese and the ham and cheese or the BLT!! You can t go wrong with anything you choose!! They also have sweets to soothe your sweet tooth and the cozy vibe is so inviting!! I ordered a Philly cheesesteak sandwich. It was quite good. Could use just a little bit more seasoning. And it would be best to put the bell peppers after the sandwich has been warmed up to add a little bit more freshness and crunch.

Its my first time coming here despite hearing so many good recommendations, I finally gave it a try, and I wasnt disappointed. I had my breakfast there, had a very simple yet delicious crispy croissant with egg, cheese and Kalama olive. I decided to try their hot chocolate, it was a perfect balance of chocolate, milk and sweetness. The cherry on the top was the excellent communication skills, the friendliness, the good vibes which led to fantabulous customer service experience. The guy was patient to give me the key and direct me to the washroom and said that I can pay later when Im back! Thanks!

Berkeley Cafe is a real gem. you pay for quality, fresh food and on top of that it is yummy. So far, I only used the delivery app to order but looking forward to meeting the super cool owner and thank them for their work. It is a business like this that restore hope for this city

This is a lovely local spot between The Distillery and St. Lawrence Market. Great desserts and pastries. Popular for lunch. If you dont feel like spending $18 on chicken fingers and French fries in the Winter Village, do stop here instead! Parking: Limited street parking

It was my first time at this coffee shop today. And it was wonderful! The staff were super friendly and accommodating! The breakfast sandwich was delicious and it was a great treat to get a cup of Persian tea! Cant wait to be in the area again to return here!

Everything about this place is amazing! From the moment you enter, the atmosphere is welcoming and comfortable. Sean suggested their breakfast croissant and it was delicious! Ive also tried their Philly cheese steak sandwich and it was out of this world! I try to stop by whenever Im in the area. 10/10 recommended

My friend and I went into Berkeley Cafe during lunch hours on a Tuesday and the place was already packed with people making their orders or waiting for their food. We decided to both try out the grilled chicken sandwich and iced lattes. Since there were too many customers, the man (not sure if it was the owner) who took our order told us to get a seat while they make our food. We were a little nervous that they might have forgotten our order but we only had to wait for around 10 mins before he took the food to our table. We were quite surprised because this was the first time where we ate before we paid and we weren t even being rushed to finish our meal. The man was so nice that he even asked us how our food was. I think this cafe is definitely a local favourite as people were coming and going the entire time. The service was impeccable and we also felt very welcomed during our visit.

We accidentally came across this place while looking for somewhere outside the Distillery District to eat. It is clear this cafe has regulars that appreciate the great food and service, as I watched the owner greet and assist many customers by name. The food was delicious and reasonably priced, and the service was wonderful. A very warm and welcoming cafe. I will be back.

Love this place! The barista is incredibly welcoming and open to give recommendations, the coffee is great and everything is at affordable to cheap prices.

Had a latte with the grilled chicken on a warm baguette with pickles and mushrooms. Absolutely worth stopping by if want top tier snacks and coffee. Owner is cool as well. He was busy yet treated each customer with positivity and careful attention which is not super common these days. Will be coming back.

Made a larger order for a small workshop event at work. Sean was patient and helpful with my requests and the order was delivered punctually. The food is very fresh and a great option for a lunch that is filling but doesn t weigh you down. Really great vegetarian options on the menu (like the falafel sandwich)! Would definitely recommend
