“Zee Grill” has been proudly serving fresh fish, seafood and oysters in Toronto since 1981. Starting off as “Phebe’s Oyster Bar” we were the first “Oyster Bar” in the city. We’re located midtown in the Yonge-Eglinton neighborhood on the “Mount Pleasant Village” strip.
We had a very beautiful moment at Phebe's celebrating our special occasion. I really appreciated the French touch in the decor. The ambiance was divine, and the food exquisite. Though we were sitting in a very high traffic area, we did appreciate the constant checking and service regularity. I personally ordered fish as my main, and it was beautifully cooked. Each bite really did feel as if the world was our oyster :). I highly recommend it and bon appétit!
Zee Grill is an exceptional dining spot for seafood lovers, offering a memorable experience from the ambiance to the flavors. Known for its fresh and expertly prepared dishes, Zee Grill stands out in the Toronto dining scene. The menu is diverse, featuring oysters, lobster, and a variety of fish options that are cooked to perfection. The seafood is impeccably fresh, and the restaurant also offers unique twists on classic dishes. I tried oysters and were beautifully presented and full of flavor. The wine selection offered excellent pairings for each course. The atmosphere is intimate and cozy, with a rustic yet elegant decor that adds to the overall experience. Service was outstanding; the staff was attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and very accommodating with recommendations. Pricing is on the higher end, but the quality of food and service makes it worth it. Zee Grill is a perfect spot for a special occasion or a refined evening out. I’d highly recommend it to anyone seeking a top-tier seafood experience in Toronto.
Amazing selections of seafood. I can’t believe I’ve never been to this place even though they are in my neighborhood.🤣We got oysters, crab cakes and smoke trout pate. Every dish was insanely good! We like that they gave us plenty of bread to eat with pate. Sone restaurants don’t provide enough bread for pate but this restaurant was very generous in amount.👏👏👏👏I’ll definitely go back again in near future. Highly recommend this restaurant.💖💖
The staff are informative and answer questions on the menu. Zee Grill served an excellent New England Clam & Corn Chowder with plenty of clams! A terrific starter for seafood lovers. The Roasted Half Lobster was great, served with fries and lemon aioli to add more flavour. The reason we drove one hour across Toronto ( at RUSH hour ) was for the Flourless Chocolate Cake that is accompanied with a separate chocolate & separate raspberry coulis if you like to add those too! We didn't have oysters but the selection from Canada was impressive at Zee Grill Oyster Bar.
I will start off with the fact I’ve been to this restaurant a few times over the last couple of years. Everytime everything has been great from food to service… but today… the experience was different. I had booked a reservation for 9:30 and arrived 7 minutes late due to issues with parking and traffic. The second I arrived the owner who is the most passive aggressive woman I’ve interacted with made a comment about us being the late reservation… lady it’s 7 minutes, most grace periods are 15 and if you don’t want to take people at this time don’t allow late reservations. She continued by rushing us to order within the next few minutes or else we wouldn’t be able to get food. I would have completely understood that we needed to order if the kitchen is closing… but you could be polite… you’re literally the owner??? Anyways the food is extremely delicious and the staff are all so sweet and personable. But to the owner you really need to change your attitude… genuinely embarrassing… people dining shouldn’t be subject to passive aggressive comments, hearing you talk about other tables and micromanaging your more than competent staff. Anyways my final thoughts - food is definitely worth coming for and the staff are all great… but to the owner please get a reality check and learn manners from your staff.
Im actually mad at myself for living in the area as long as I have and only discovering this place now. The food, wine, ambience and service were excellent. Best lobster sandwich in the city by far. Check out the intimate and adorable secret patio at the back. Will def be coming back soon.
Excellent seafood in a cozy space. There's a nice selection of oysters and they come with a really nice chili sauce. The raw bar menu looks good but is a little pricey. I quite liked the crab cakes. They're too small to share in a larger group but great for date night. The hand cut fries were good, though not particularly noteworthy. I recommend coming here in a small group and sharing a few dishes for the best experience.
I’d heard a lot of good things about Zee Grill. Didn’t disappoint and food was delicious. Lobster roll was much like the ones you get in PEI; lobster was excellent, as were the oysters. Service was top notch, and the ambiance was perfectly suited. A great experience all around and a nice treat for a special occasion. Side note: a few years ago I saw the owner receiving a shipment of fresh seafood and carefully inspecting the merchandise. He returned some of it because it apparently didn’t meet his standards. This discerning attention to the quality of the food showed me how seriously they care to provide only the finest seafood to their patrons.
Great atmosphere, excellent service and presentation. The lobster was delicious, the tuna was a little bland. I will be going again to try their other dishes!
This was our first time for my date and I and the food was spectacular. However, the service was awful considering anyone who dines here will be spending a good chunk of change as we did. We came in Saturday night for our reso and was seated promptly. Our server came to our table, never said, Hello, or Welcome, hows it going, nothing. She just asked, You know what you want to drink?. I asked for a cocktail list and she seemed annoyed. Never introduced herself once or even cracked a smile the whole service, tbh, she didnt seem like she wanted to be there. We ordered two cocktails and oysters to start. Then when it was time to order mains, again, rude and brash, Do you know what you want?. The server assistant, Cecilia, was absolutely amazing, she came and explained everything to us, super friendly, approachable, and accommodating. We ordered the Sudado and the steak. The Sudado is more like a stew, so needed a spoon. Never got the spoon or the steak knife, had to ask Cecilia. We only saw our server once near the end of our meal before asking for the bill. We spent almost $200 and then she cracked a smile. Service is what drives guests to return. We will not be returning.
Oysters fabulous . Wait staff same - a wonderful evening- one of our favorites over 30 years!!
Great dinner and great service. One of our favourite restaurant labin the area. highly recommend
best seafood restaurant in town - very friendly crew
This is our favorite restaurant! Every time we go, the seafood is amazing, the chefs prepare everything to perfection, and the service is exceptional. I can t say enough good things about this place. As a life-long seafood lover, this place is perfect for me, and it even helped convert a long-time seafood skeptic in my wife!
Look at the size of these oysters!!
Great seafood. Lobster roll was fantastic. Probably best I have ever had. Oysters were fresh and tasty. Scallops were also excellent. Service was cheerful. Nice neighbourhood vibe. Room is rustic and could use a bit of an update. Definitely recommend if you like seafood. Will return.
Great staff great food. Would be nice if the menu changed time to time
Twas a good experience and will definitely come back for more .
Good service to go with the delicious cuisines, trout pate, lobster roll, oysters and fish stew were all spot on.
We had a really nice dinner. The food was perfect ! Tuna and sea bass were a great choice!
I love oysters in Zee Grill! They are fresh and yummy! My favorite genre is Lucky Lime, which is more sweet than others. It is worth to be tried!
The best seafood I have had in Toronto, comparable to New Brunswick. Dietary restrictions: Great GF options Food : 5/5 |
Really great seafood and oysters!
Amazing place, nice food and will visit again for sure
This place is a gem! Absolutely smashing!!! Established since 1981 and no wonder why this place still standing strong! The ambiance. The food. The regulars. The service. And most especially the STAFF!!! The head host/server, Carlton, was nothing short of exceptional. The other staff were attentive, respectful and happy. It is my partners birthday today and we had dinner there. I had Sudado seafood stew and it was succulent. My partner had the scallops and it was cooked to perfection! We also had the Mer Bleue Oyster from Richibuctu New Brunswick and it was spectacular!!! Creme Brulee for dessert and it was the best finisher ever! I highly recommend this place.
Great food , pleasant environment.Highly recommend
Great meal at Zee Grill. Joined friends for a night out. We shared calamari , tuna tartar , poke bowl and crab cakes. I had the scallops for a main , just delicious. Our server Rhiane was so good and he was doing the cocktails too. He was gracious and made the evening special. We will be back. 10/10 Zee Grill
Recently had our date night at this restaurant. My husband had the lobster while I had the sea bass. Both were cooked perfectly well - evenly seasoned and the sides balanced the main entrees very well. Will def be coming back again!
Visited this place many times! The food is great! The service is excellent! Highly recommended!
Loved our experience. Five stars on food, service and atmosphere. Will be returning!
Had a great dinner here! The fish is so fresh & expertly prepared. Staff was very friendly & helpful. We actually went back the following week & they recognized us. Dietary restrictions: We actually dont eat shellfish but there were lots of delicious options for us. The smoked trout pate was outstanding as an appetizer with wonderful toasts & caramelized onions!
We walked pass it a few times and wanted to try this little joint in Leaside. The interior decor was nice, rustic with exposed bricks and has a vintage feel. The food was mediocre+ at best, they came in small portion, smaller than expected anyway. The price points were okay for that particular neighbourhood, wine list was comprehensive and priced reasonably. However we were still hungry after spending $100 each of us.
We have become regulars! Love the atmosphere, the people and the FOOD !
Felt like our first real date since Covid. The other places were just rehearsals. Loved the food. It was tactile and delicious. Excellent service - attentive and on point. And the atmosphere was actually noteworthy... enough interesting stuff on the walls o give you something to talk about but not so much it feels junky. Love that we could see the kitchen without feeling like we were in the kitchen. See you again soon!
I dont eat seafood so I ordered the steak frites. It was one the best steaks Ive had at a restaurant in a while. Cooked perfectly rare. Atmosphere is good. Server was great when he was around but he didnt check up on us during our meal or ask if we wanted a refill on drinks. Despite this it was still good service.
Loved it
Not very good for the price, over cooked sea food just isnt good. Rather disappointed with the quality of food for the price. We will NEVER GO BACK. I am Portuguese l know how sea food should taste.
First time here, servers were nice and very welcoming spot. I enjoyed the grilled calamari and oysters. My friend had the seabass and loved it! Overall, solid seafood spot in midtown.. will def visit again! Food
It was all right nothing really fancy though what we ordered was a little overpriced and the section of the muscles werent good either, it was a seafood spot I needed to try, and I tried it didnt exactly love it, it was alright besides being a little overpriced. The drinks were amazing tho.
Excellent seafood and service at a reasonable price and in a nice casual atmosphere.
The service and food was just amazing!!!
Try different oysters from different part of country. They are v nice. The atmosphere is also v nice. Looks like a London bar than Toronto bar Food
This is our favorite place to dine in the city!!! The atmosphere is chic and intimate. We always sit at the bar and the service by Riaan is excellent! The food is fresh and made from scratch by an amazing Dutch chef Jack. We have brought friends, clients and family here and they always rave about their positive experience. Don t delay make a reservation and experience Zee Grill today!
The food and service was incredible, the flavor was amazing and the oysters were as fresh as they come. Could not have asked for a nicer spot to enjoy some seafood in toronto!~ Food
We started off with a bottle of white wine per recommendation of our server with a selection of Oysters. And they didnt disappoint. Oysters were so fresh and nice, with no strong finish, just so pleasant. For main food, we had the grilled calamari and roasted half lobster. We liked both. The portions of main courses were relatively small, but the taste made up for that. We liked the interior of the restaurant with rustic look and sea/ocean theme. Our servers were very helpful and nice. We would definitely go back
Tonight was our first visit to Zee for our monthly date night and it did not disappoint. From the appetizer (crab cakes) to the mains (seared tuna and panko-breaded halibut) and the dessert (sticky toffee pudding), the food was top notch, fresh, and the portions were more than generous. We were also impressed with their wine selection. The service was attentive and friendly and the atmosphere was romantic - were looking forward to our next visit!
Food, service, and ambience were fine. The reason for the low rating is due to the fact that I witnessed a woman who appeared to be in some kind of management position absolutely berate one of the young girls working. As someone who worked in hospitality for a very long time, I was appalled by this behaviour and it kind of ruined the overall experience. If this is how management treats their employees, I have no plans on returning. Do better.
I ve always walked by this restaurant and neon sign and cool fixtures outside pulled me in. Decided to make a reservation for my birthday and while it wasn t a bad experience, wasn t the best either. Decor inside is cute but they played radio 40 s pop music which felt a little off. Food tasted fine but was disappointed with portion size of crab cakes. Menu has all food on one page so wasn t aware that s they d be appetizer sized. Lobster was fantastic but fries were similar to McDonald s. Service was friendly
Great food, amazing staff!
Crab cakes are $24 for sweet potato with a lil crab
Food is good but the serving is very small cant fill you up.This will be the first and last.
Delicately seasoned and delicious seafood. Great wine selection.
We had such an amazing meal. It wasnt planned we just popped in and luckily got a seat for 4. The tuna tartare was incredible. The fried thinly sliced plantain chips were the best thing Ive ever had with tuna. The oysters were all amazing and were a hit with the table! Tried my first white Rioja and it too did not disappoint, great pairing indeed!! The place was busy and even tho the kitchen was short staffed they managed to handle the volume extremely well. The staff were all so pleasant and on point. Definitely going back here!
Bland food. Not terrible, but very pricey for what is just mediocre. Some oysters very tiny, which you don t expect for $4 each. Sticky toffee pudding is their marquee dessert and it feels like they microwave a piece of cake. The seafood stew barely has any seafood. They use haddock (a bottom feeder) fir all their fish dishes. It is a nice looking place with good service and if it was cheaper it would be 3 stars. But for this price I d expect Rodney s level seafood and this just isn t it.
Been to the restaurant a few times. Service has always been fantastic. Food quality is also great!
2nd time i went there. Grilled calamari as a starter were very good ($24..). Hallibut as a main was ok, nothing extraordinary ($38). We also shared a few deeserts, the floirless chocolate being my favorite. So all in all food is good but a bit too expensive (ex: 4$ per oyster..)
Amazing place. The staff is incredible. Highly recommended.
That was incredible. My wife, daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this wonderful restaurant. Cozy atmosphere, great choice of dishes, wonderful service - this is not a complete list of all the advantages. We will definitely come here again.
I ve probably (more than likely) reviewed before but again the dining experience here did not disappoint. All the meals ordered were wonderfully prepared and all were delicious and very much enjoyed. Our server Chris was quite attentive, helpful and charismatic. Where as the seating could have been a tad more comfortable, a small price to pay for an enjoyable dining experience. Definitely worth another visit.
My wife and I wanted to try this restaurant. She has lived in the neighborhood for years about 10 and she was excited too. Initially upon entering it felt like a bar but it opens up with cozy tables and the back unfortunately there tables seated near the trash which my wife was not too pleased. We decided in the middle of the restaurant. The food was subpar but the shining star were the oysters ! They were clean , fresh and delicious! They were locally sourced. I had the fish and chips and it was a huge let down. The fish was more like supermarket battered fish and the fish were Carnival style thin fried. My wife had the tuna tartare and it was good Otherwise it s a good place.
It s our go to spot!! Never disappointed. Always leave looking forward to our next visit.
Overall great food. Steak and fries are amazing. Oysters are amazing. Only issue is that they have limited menu items.
Best oysters I had for a while and each kind is very fresh! Othe dishes are pretty good too so a 5 star is definitely warranted.
We love this restaurant, they are so friendly and every meals that we had this restaurant have been so so great. This place reminds us restaurants somewhere in Europe, they let you take your time to enjoy your meal from the begging to the end. Highly recommend!
Crab cakes are delicious, if you love seafood you will love this place
Fabulous experience at Zee Grill on Mount Pleasant, in Davisville Village, this past weekend. Started with their fabulous selection of oysters, then had the sea bass with veggies just cooked right & an awesome cauliflower purée. Everything was fresh & delicious, lovely wine, laid back atmosphere, a neighbourhood spot that delivers big flavours.
Hands down the best seafood place in town. Try oysters, Zee salad and grilled calamari.
Must have the smoked trout pate and the seafood soup! Yum
Great place and amazing food
Oysters were delicious and the best fish ordered. Lobster was overcooked and duck with sauce wasnt very good.... Great customer service though. Price for 4 adults with a bottle of wine was $320
Amazing food Best, great service. Best steak Ive had in years. Cooked to my exact specifications. My party enjoyed the fish and chips as well. Delicious meal
Delicious! Food was incredible and service was even better. Great little gem.
One of the best sea food! Fresh and delicious!!
Great food, we had the grilled sea bream and loved it. Our only complaint was the washroom. My date said it was more like a pub washroom.
Amazing oysters and drinks. Great atmosphere.
Everything was amazing! Ordered oysters, the zero salad and the stew. Children had the fish and chips. It was one of the best restaurants we have experienced in the city!
Has been my go-to seafood restaurant for years. High quality fish and shellfish cooking, and abundant raw fish/shellfish selections. (Also a couple of non-marine dishes for those who want them). Their fish taco appetizer, poké salad, Asian style ahi tuna, and delicate cones of thin French fries are to die for. A good wine list to to go with it, and some pleasant desserts. Quiet but cheerful ambience and friendly professional service - the waiters are good at recommendations.
Great food but whats with the names?
Excellent spot for seafood lovers.
Great seafood and oysters all around! Excellent service by the staff as well!
The waiter Alex was great. We initially were going to order the half roast lobster. Then Alex told us about Surf & Turf which was beef tenderloin and shrimp. We asked what the cost would be if we could substitute the half broiled Lobster for the shrimp. Alex said they would do it but then came back and said it would be an extra $39 which actually was the cost of a half lobster. Interesting thing so the shrimp had no actual value. Very disappointing so we order the boiled and roasted lobster. In summary not sure who manages this place!
This is officially my favourite restaurant in Toronto. Everything taste amazing on their menu! I try something different each time I go, and Im never disappointed. I love the pleasant, non-pretentious atmosphere of the staff and coziness of the restaurant. It is like finding a hidden gem in your neighborhood. I was not even a fan of seafood until I found this restaurant. Zee Grill made a seafood lover out of me (sorry Red Lobster).
Delicious food and drinks
Celebrated a friends birthday here. Had a great time. Waiter was very personable and made great recommendations. Unfortunately they did not have the platter that I saw in the picture which was one of the reasons I wanted to go there. Loved the selection of oysters. Had the crabcakes but honestly, they werent as good as I expected and for the price they were very small. For my main, I had the Ahi Tuna while my company had the Half Lobster. Overall, the meal was good. I would return!
What a great place for seafood and oysters! Super nice well decorated. Delicious food and great service
Great dining experience. Lovely patio setting. Food was excellent as was the service. Had a couple finicky eaters with us and all efforts were made to accommodate.
Always great.
A most enjoyable experience. Great ambiance. Great seafood and service. Excellent value. I will return soon. Recommended.
Very tasty oysters and seafood. Service was indifferent.
Amazing service with tasty simple but tasty sea food! If you like seafood this place is a must in your list.
Very good place.
Liked the food and service, and will recommended it to everybody.
Really loved the Oysters and Champaign! Great place to go for a fun girls night (especially on the back patio). The Trout Pate is a must-try!
First time eating here, did some take out and it didnt disappoint. Highly recommend and will definitely order again.
Delicious food! Thoughtfully prepared and packed for transport, we throughly enjoyed our takeout meal and look forward to having an opportunity to dine at Zee Grill in person next time.
We had a reservation for 6 (one family) and they told us to come in for the patio (covid). When we arrived, they said we had to sit at two separate tables even though the provincial protocols say that you can have more than 4 seated if youre all from the same household. Maybe stay away until everything opens back up.
I was here last weekend and the experience was meh I ordered every type of oyster offered on the menu and they were quite fresh and tasty but expensive! I had a lobster roll that was so small and underwhelming. What really threw me off was that literal chips were just thrown on the side like not even fresh fries which is what I expected. I won t be coming back as there are so many better options around.
Incredible food, friendly service, and an awesome vibe. Definitely will be back for those oysters and the ahi tuna!
Food was great! Highly recommend the ahi tuna which was delicious with the ponzu soy sauce and the vegetables.
We had Zee Grill in our to go list way before the lockdowns and, we were just lucky to get a patio reservation a few weeks ago. Overall the food was very good, tasty and fresh. We ordered Fresh Oysters, New England Clam Chowder, Crab Cakes, Bouillabaisse and Fish & Chips. Surprisingly, the portions were actually filling and reasonable for the price. The service was very friendly although a little erratic at times but, we think that they were just getting the cadence of the oopening patio.
The Sea Bass was perfectly prepared. Crab cakes were also delicious. Sudado seafood stew was also quite good. Eating on the streetside patio was comfortable.
Great service, beautiful patios, nice wine list, and fresh seafood made with care. Ill definitely be back.
We had dined here many times before COVID-19. Tonight was the fist time other than take out since COVID-19. Great food and great service. My wife and I both had the calamari appetizer and tuna as main. It was great. What was missing is perhaps some bread.
Had a fantastic dinner here. The sea bass was cooked to perfection: crispy skin and buttery soft flesh. My partner had the seafood soup which was also incredible. Good wine, great service and a sticky toffee pudding to cap it off. Best seafood we have had since our last vacation
Fresh oysters
Great seafood place! My husband and I enjoyed tasty oysters and I had perfectly grilled calamari. There was a large selection of wine and beer. Love the location. The staff was quick and friendly. A must try!
If you love sea food you definitely need to try this place out. I loved it!!! The food was phenomenal, and the service was absolutely excellent. Saving this place as one of my favorite in town.
Still best seafood in city! Bravo Jack
Fine food experience -- excellent calamari and Peruvian seafood stew. Wine list pricy -- triple mark-ups.
Great food.
Excellent food and nice atmosphere
Great food, service and outstanding chef. Seafood is the freshest. Fantastic wine list too.
Our experience, contrary to the Google reviews, was not great. While the restaurant was busy, we expected the service to be slow, but what we didnt expect was our sever to not even make eye contact when our food/drinks was delivered and constantly having to ask for things like salt & pepper, extra napkins etc. There was almost no communication whatsoever from the server - other than when the bill came. Our meals were also disappointing. The fish and chips ($27) was so over battered, I couldnt tell it was fish. The grilled sea-bass ($35) was tasty but over done. And our request for bread to start never arrived. Perhaps they were just having a bad night but at nearly $200 for two meals and a bottle of wine, this was a poor experience.
In one word: Perfection ! Oysters, grilled calamari, lobster and seafood stew. Fantastic flavors and surprising combinations. Great cocktails Will definitely come back
Very cozy and ambient environment
Ive been going to Zee Grill for a long time now and its consistently one of the best seafood restaurants in the city. The food options are nicely diverse, the menu changes often, the oysters are always great, and most importantly, the food is spectacular. Too often seafood restaurants are shy about sauces and sides but Zee just goes for it and they nail it every time. Great service and nice atmosphere for sharing laughs. I docked one star for the wine selection - some improvement can be made there.
This has been one of my favourite restaurants for 25 years. In fact, we went on Friday night to celebrate my husband and my anniversary. As always, it was an enjoyable experience with good food and service, aside from one negative issue. The next day, my husband called and spoke to whoever answered the phone to let them know about the issue. The response given by the employee seemed like he was rushing my husband off the phone. However, what was amazing is that when the owner of Zee Grill, Jac, found out about the the issue and the following inadequate response, he searched high and low to contact me and my husband to apologize (apology for the mussels wasnt necessary -but we appreciated the apology for the response). He really impressed me. Jac went so above and beyond to find us to try to make things right and he succeeded. Thank you Jac!
Initial impression: not the warmest greeting by the staff, but we let that slide. Appetizers: the grilled calamari is a must. So fresh and tasty, the dipping sauces served with them were tangy and the calamari was well grilled and super flavourful. The oysters are a must too, super fresh . I highly recommend trying the sun seekers ! Mains: I personally had the scallops and I found them to be perfectly seared, though a little lacking in saltiness. The mashed beet was great as an accompanying side too. My friend says his halibut was pretty good too. Dessert: the creme caramel was light, perfect to end off a meal. The pressed chocolate cake was definitely very rich, and if you re having a chocolate craving - this will definitely do it s job. Overall: service was ok, food was good
Came here for the oysters and enjoyed the special for the night as well. Great atmosphere and the decor was nice. They have a back patio. Unfortunately I was there in the winter, but it looks like it would be enjoyable in the summer. The service was casual but he was attentive. Good selection of oysters and they were fresh. Highly recommend on a date night
Unfortunately the scallops were a little gritty and over done. The fish and chips were under seasoned and a very small portion for the price.
I had a take out lobster. It was delicious!!
my wife and i went there prior to our visit to reserve a table at their patio for a birthday party. when we arrived a few days later, we were 5 minutes earlier, we got greeted by the same person who took our reservation (in person) and was informed by her (she was the manager) that the table we booked is occupied and will be for the next HOUR ! and if we want we can be seated curb side on the main street ! We have explained to her that this is a birthday party, an important event for us, and that we booked a specific table, we also reminded her that SHE was the one who promised us that table. She replied by it is what it is and theres nothing she can do. This caused us great embarrassment with out guests and obviously ruined the night for everyone involved. We have never encountered such disrespect and degrading treatment as clients (especially at times when restaurant NEED their client the mos). We will NEVER return there and would recommend everyone we know never to eat there ! there are plenty of restaurant in Toronto (and Im sure better ones too) that treat their customers with RESPECT ! Do not take your business to a place that disrespect you as a client.
Delicious dinner and dessert. Nothing to complain about.
Food was fresh and tasty
Service excellent, food could be better!!!
This place is great if your expectations are low. No ambiance music, mediocre wine list, wait staff with an attitude, food of was lackluster. My partner and I had a hard time conversing because we could hear everyone elses conversations. The place seriously needs some acustic paneling. Not one dish was impressive.
3rd visit, never disappointed.
Great seafood restaurant near mt pleasant and Davisville. Small and home-like feel inside. The service is outstanding and the food even better. Oysters are the best in the city. Roasted lobster was great too. Not cheap but you get your moneys worth with quality. Highly recommended.
Wonderful fish restaurant!
Excellent variety of fish seafood and very good quality.
Lovely staff, great food. Relaxing!
We have been living in this area for a while, and only recently discovered zee grill! The food is absolutely amazing, very fresh and the service is fairly quick. Every time we have been there, the restaurant has been packed, even on a week night. I am not a huge seafood fan, but I never hesitate to try anything from their menu, as it always wins me over! The selection of oysters is great, the peruvian fish stew and the daily specials are some favourites of ours. The chef has been out to chat with us every time following our meal. Will definitely be back several more times!
Always amazing food and service. Wish portions were a bit bigger. But i guess u get what u pay for
Unfortunately we did not have a good experience. And partially because we didn t realize that the place is absolutely not child-friendly and we had our 2.5 old with us. So note to all parents with toddlers- this is not a place to bring your kids to dine with you. They don t have high chairs- AT ALL and that means they don t really want little ones there and will not accommodate you. The staff was not friendly when they saw us with a child and put us at a table right in the middle of the dining floor ( the worst place ever to sit with a busy toddler)! When we asked to be moved to another table somewhere away or in the corner the answer was no even though they had lots of open tables at the time we arrived ( apparently they were reserved for other people and they couldn t accommodate us at all). We decided to stay anyway (our mistake) and ordered the drinks and food. Our son started being restless since they didn t even bring any bread fast enough until I reminded them and we waited forever for drinks to arrive but they actually never brought them since the waitress simply forgot we ordered them!! We ended up taking our dinner to go and leaving anyway. The only nice touch was the kitchen staff who were super sweet and added a piece of delicious chocolate cake to our order when packing our food. We ate the dinner at home and it was good, but in any case the evening would go much better if we would go somewhere else where the staff understands and supports parents with yonge children who just want to have a nice evening out. This is just not the right place for us and I would not recommend going there with young children.
First time at this restaurant. Great ambiance, service and food. Well be back!
Very nice place, very friendly staff, food is delicious. My favorite one was lobster! Just amazing! Recommended!
5 stars for the oysters, 4 stars for the other food, 3 stars for the service. The oysters were all fresh and delicious, we ordered 3 different kinds and they were all absolutely top notch. We had a special appetizer that was grilled octopus in a tomato sauce with some mashed potato underneath. I didnt really get that dish, the octopus was perfectly cooked but the sauce was kind of boring and the mashed potato was nothing special, it all kind of detracted from the octopus... We had the scallops and the sudado stew, the scallops were perfectly cooked and everything else in the scallop dish was good. The stew was also delicious and had jicima and mote and lots of seafood but the broth couldve used a bit more kick, as the name implies... The server was kind of dry and unenthusiastic, which made the whole experience kind of lackluster. The atmosphere was nice and the kitchen staff were friendly. Good wine list, not many options by the glass as I would like but still a great selection.
I really enjoy this place. Not a lot of options if you dont eat fish or seafood but if you do, you will enjoy it. I really suggest some oysters for the table as they always have a nice selection and fair prices.
My wife and I had a wonderful meal here!!!! My Uncle Tony had contacted me after some time of not seeing him so when he wanted to get together he suggested we come here to Phoebes. I was excited to introduce my wife to my cool Uncle T, and I love seafood so it was a win, win situation. And I mean I really love seafood, for example the other night I ate a massive family sized frozen fish dinner by myself it was intense I started sweating and got bloated went a bit numb, even had some physical tremors. Come to think of it I think I had mercury poisoning, but I digress. At the dinner with Uncle Tony he started to tell my wife and I that he was going to England soon and wouldn t be returning. Apparently Uncle Tony was a gay man and was beaten in England for being gay and the result of the beatings caused a blood clot in his brain so he was going to go back to England and kill himself. (Which I mean is a bit dramatic, like what is this a Wes Anderson film?) So he went to England and the next thing I know my Uncle has been murdered by being stabbed through the heart and then was thrown into a river. I think someone murdered him for being gay and used the old 14th Century English method of killing someone in the time of the Bubonic Plague via stabbing then through the heart with a spike and then tossing their bodies into a river. Kind of like that movie Black Death with Sean Bean. Anyway some detectives came from England and questioned me and I didn t tell them any of this for some reason and Uncle Tony s murder case was never solved. But it was a wonderful dinner and the scallops were HUGE!
The food was full of flavour and absolutely delicious! Service was great too. Its a cosy, causal place. Highly recommend for seafood lovers.
Great place, I really like how they had fresh fish and shellfish. Also, the chefs did a great job preparing the food, it was delicious and well thought of. Thanks!
Zee Grill is a cozy little place. Love the ambiance and the music selection :) They offer an oyster bar and I had 3 oysters all fresh and delicious. Had the fish of the day which was well cooked, sauces were great too. Would definitely come back again. Prices were quite reasonable as well.
I love the salad, and its grilled calamari. If you seek for seafoods related dinner in midtown, then this is the place. The only thing is the service is kind of slow.
Exceptional high quality of seafood ..

Great food great service, cozy atmosphere.
Atmosphere great..service great but did not rush us...food fantastic and prices reasonable. Had the halibut fish and chips..it was the special for 24.98.
One of our favorites.
Delicious food and great service!
Very nice ambiance, great service and excellent food
Consistently great food and service in a cozy atmosphere
Service was great. Location is great. Oysters and mussels were amazing. Lobster was a little bland but other than that, everything was great.
Eh... Great, mostly friendly staff, but everything else is just eh... For seafood bar - oyster selection is blah, entrees are delicious but extra tiny. Felt like tapas... & I am not into massive plates, but had to eat once I got home - a first for me & I had both an appetizer & main... Atmosphere is nice but again BUT... Somehow you feel rushed out ...& as a cherry on top - overpriced for tapas. & then there is decor... Scary turtle is not my prefered focal point to look at the entire evening. Will not be back, but glad I tried it once, as for what we tried - it was indeed delicious, if super small - with exception of fish & chips that was uncooked.(! What?? Isnt this a seafood place??? it is fish & chips, no? It was taken off the bill, but kids went home hungry since that is what they ordered...) Just felt ripped off a bit. Felt like this place is just content with being open & didnt really care... Oh well. I guess regulars will be coming here, no need for new business, right? Good luck. For each their own. Maybe I missed something. Will not recommend. Sorry. P.S. we still ended up having amazing time - but that had to with the company, not the place unfortunately.
Pricey but great seafood and service.
Service is always best in class. Food is delicious and great selection of wine. I highly recommend this place for a fine meal.
