Kiro Sushi in Toronto

I ve been here a few times because it s very close to the library and I really liked the food here. However, when I was eating the eel avocado sushi today, a fish bone was stuck in my throat. Honestly I ve never thought about the risk of an eel bone getting stuck in my throat since usually they are negligible. The place just offered to cover the cost of my meal today when I asked if there is any good way to get rid of the bone in my throat and did not provide any explanation or suggestions. It s a little unprofessional I feel. Then I refused the offer because if I were going to see a doctor it would cost a lot more than that because I m not a resident in Canada. After I left l, I tried a few ways but couldn t get the bone to move, so I went to an ER at night and it cost me $750 to take the bone out.

Good food, very generous portions, staff super nice! The restroom needs love tho. Food : 5/5

We came for lunch and the food was exceptional. I brought my daughter and we both got miso soup and it was already amazing my daughter ordered the california rolls (great too) I got the tuna salmon don and the meal was perfection on top of that the decor is very nice 5 stars amazing place my advice is to go as soon as you can

The food was decent. I didnt find the service good so i didnt tip. Then the server gave really bad attitude, and questioned why i didnt tip.

Thick pieces of fish that were fresh. Eel roll had bones in it which made it inedible. Service was quick but customer service wasnt great. I dont think Id try this place again.

Came here during a 1 hour lunch break. Waited 40 mins to get our food. Barely had a bite and had to go. Also there are fish bones in the sashimi and flies bugging us the whole time.

The staff had come in several times to take away the empty plates but didn t seem to notice or care that our cups have been empty. We eventually had to ask and waited to have them refilled :( sushi and sashimis were still good but everything else was mediocre. Never had much service at this place but this time was exceptionally cold. There were flies flying around.

Wonderful, so much of the quality of sushi is quality of the fish, at kiro the sushi and sashimi melts in your mouth and the flavours are excellent. It was very busy there on Saturday night but thats obviously a testament to how good it is. They also deliver by Uber and Door-Dash, but Im not sure if they are on skip the dishes.

Amazing service. Toronto sushi is generally good excellent, but I came expecting a normal hole in the wall but it was authentic, good quality, and very great attention to detail. I came back again twice and it was exceeded expectations both times. A true gem

The quality of the sashimi and sushi here is excellent for the price. I have visited this spot around 5 times now. As others have said, the service could be improved, but it is really a great little spot to go on the weekend.

Takes way too long took them over 20 minutes for a ice cream and 20+ minutes for udon

Food is really good, but its hard to explain the service. The staff is really friendly and works really hard, but they seem scattered so it was hard to get their attention, but its not that they are lazy, they are working so hard and running around and packing orders. Might need to have extra staff to take care of online orders.

I take out roll combo B and sashimi deluxe today (Oct 22) I found plastic wrap in my mouth while I was eating UNI. SO DISAPPOINTED!

Rude staff and mediocre food

This is the sushi spot for higher quality sushi that doesn t break the bank. Service can be slow but the sushi really is fresh and rich!

Small place near our hotel. The sushi was actually really good and the kitchen dishes were tasty. Portions were larger than we expected. They were very busy so we had to wait to place order etc but the staff was very nice.

Thought it was good sushi. It has hot plates and bento boxes too at a reasonable price. Id go back.

Sashimi was delicious, katsu don was not, the katsu breading was way too salty. Staffs are nice, but spilled soup over the table when was here, also didn t hand me soya sauce until called.

They have terrible service, they have denied us service 3 times now with more than 30 minutes left before they close, I think it would be better if they modified their schedules instead of denying service to their customers

Today I was picking up an order from the restaurant and my food wasn t ready upon arrival. I was waiting a few minutes when I saw an employee walking out of the kitchen with a plate and a tempura piece fell off the plate and landed on the ground. The employee picked it up went behind the curtain and put it back on the plate before serving to the customer.. disgusting never coming back

I found a hair in the sashimi deluxe that I ordered. This not only ruined my appetite but also raised serious concerns about the hygiene and quality standards of the restaurant. I expect that the sashimi served to me is prepared with the highest standards of cleanliness. Finding a hair in my food is unacceptable and has led me to question the overall hygiene practices in your kitchen. I won t come back again and I will told all my friends don t come to your restaurant

Reasonably priced and great quality sushi and sashimi one of the better ratios in the area.

Yum. Went here for lunch today and was pleasantly surprised with the very reasonable prices for the top quality food provided. I also loved the presentation of the rolls. Top notch! The atmosphere lost a star due to a bothersome fly and hornet/wasp that was buzzing around our table. I knocked a star down on service as we struggled to ask for our bill (it was a weekday / workday lunch and would assume people are in a rush) as we didn t see our server, and when the bill was brought, it was one bill (they didn t ask if it should be one or split). Live and learn. Will DEFINITELY go back for the food here. Recommend!

Decent sushi, woeful service

I ordered Sashimi deluxe combo via Uber. Before that, I always ate sushi, so I didnt know much about it. The composition is good, but the fish quality is the worst. It seems to be ripened right away without any post-processing after oroshi, but it doesnt seem to be doing well, because its overripe, so it smells and becomes soft like fish meat. This is my first time eating salmon sashimi that is less delicious than supermarket salmon sashimi. Owner JSAN SUSHI I hope to try it once and start doing business.

Amazing quality sushi! We ordered tuna tartare, sashimi and edamame. Quality and presentation was incredible. Only downside was the B.C uni was quite bitter so wouldn t order that again but everything else was outstanding!

Food was amazing when dining in, but for take out the quality is much more discounted. I went there for dining in last weekend and ordered premium sashimi platter, it had lots of varieties. But for todays take out, the variery of sashimi in the platter was cut in half or so. Still ~45 pcs or so, but most of them are cheap ones.

I went with my Japanese friends and they also agreed that it was delicious haha.

Usually quiet conistent but had some extremely salty kastu curry last time I was there.

We have been loyal customers since 2018, but todays experience was deeply disappointing. The tuna sashimi was clearly NOT fresh and had a strange odor. When we asked one of the staff, they simply replied, the tuna was bought today so it s fresh, without checking with the chef. There were no apologies or attempts to address the issue. When we brought it up with the manager, he took the entire plate away without a word and handed us the bill. This level of unprofessionalism is unacceptable (note this place is not cheap to start with!) We will not be returning.

I love Kiro and have been coming here for a while now. However, recently, I ve realized they are just understaffed, particularly for peak hours. Food takes too long to arrive; there is no personal attention whatsoever. This is not on the servers; its just on the management to not staff properly. The servers are great!

My favorite sushi place in Toronto, never disappointed once. The servers can be too busy and forget to refill water though.

**Avoid the vegetable udon soup. This place has a nice atmosphere and the people working here are very friendly. I ve came here twice in the past and the food I ordered tasted great. I came here a third time yesterday and tried the vegetable udon soup. That was a big mistake. Half way through eating it, I tasted a mouthful of something extremely bitter. I asked a server what might be the cause and they seemed confused. My guess is the zucchini in the soup had sat too long in the fridge

Yesterday I went with a friend and we didnt like it. It took us a long time to give us a seat and they didnt take us to seats far away because we wanted another place and there was only one other colored boy in that place where they took us. We got up and left since it is a rasista restaurant

Best Sushi in Toronto!

I visited with friend for lunch time. They looked busy even on Tuesday. We waited for a while for ordering food. Serving food was not quick too but it was okay because we weren t rush. We chose lunch set. It s affordable price and taste good. All lunch set comes with salad and miso soup

Terrible service. I ordered 2 Udon Soups with Tempura but one did not come with mushrooms. When I asked the waitress about it, I was met with attitude but was told that she would go check. A few minutes later, I saw her continue to greet customers and clean tables so I asked again. She let out a very loud and rude I will go get a mushroom. The other waitress that seated us and gave us our bill was curt and showed no care towards the customers either.

Bento box for only $23. This is good value for your money.

I had the uni sushi and the sashimi bowl and my friend had the katsudon. I personally wasn t a fan of what I got but that probably comes down to personal preference, I do think that the 1 slice of toro (I was hoping for more because every other fish had several pieces in the bowl) was cut too close the fat (?) it was pretty much inedible, it felt like I was trying to bite through rubber which is a shame because I was really looking forward to trying that. My friend loved her katsudon and I m sure I would have loved one the rolls, sadly I made the wrong decision for me. The miso soup was phenomenal though! I will say that while the food got to us rather quickly the service was terrible. We were given small cups of water and even though the restaurant was not full I could not get the server s attention to get more water which sucked.

Good portions. We ordered a sashimi don and a salmon ikura don. I would have preferred the rice to be more seasoned, but otherwise, we were satisfied with our order.

Food was excellent, ready promptly, beautiful presentation. Should have taken photo of the medium Sushi & Roll platter and Grilled Beef Ribs appetizer (already ate half before we started eating! Sushi made with very little rice (great!), ginger is yellow (we don t like pink ginger) and wasabi piped into rosettes, which we really appreciate! Hamachi Kama appetizer very good. Price reasonable and good value for $. Thank you Kiro Sushi! We recently ordered another medium sushi & roll platter, and 2 chicken teriyaki dinners. Very tasty, thank you!

Insane quality sushi, the best in Toronto for the price. A little more expensive than the cheap sushi options in the city, but SUCH a hidden gem. They never skimp out.

Absolutely will never go anywhere else for sushi. The freshest fish, the the best fish to rice ratio and I love their special soya sauce (its a bit sweet!) Their Philadelphia roll is unbeatable. The staff are very friendly and the venue is very very cozy.

Came here on a public holiday. This is the only restaurant that opened around this quiet area. Much appreciate this restaurant opened in a cold winter on a public holiday. The food is better than my expectations. Deco and service are good.

My favorite sushi restaurant

This has become my favourite downtown sushi restaurant. The fish or other chef selections are so soft and melt in your mouth. I didnt know it could taste that good! Also the Maki doesnt provide filler rice to offset small inside ingredients... its full of the meat of each Maki set. its a little pricey for lunch but I always have to take 4-6 pieces home because they are filling.

Wide selection to offer. It was pretty busy when I went but happened to have a table available when I walked in. Definitely think about reservations if you want to come. The food was great, nothing out of the ordinary. Would visit again!

Ordered a bunch of take out recently based on a recommendation. I wanted to like it, but I didnt think the food was that great overall. Biggest items from our order were maki rolls and the sushi boat. I thought the sashimi was too big of pieces! Id rather have those cut in half. They were too much for one mouthful. Same goes for some of their rolls. The ratio of rice to fillings was out of whack .Usually places put too much rice ,and here they do the opposite and barely give you any....

Got dynamite roll for takeout. Great price and tastes great too! 8 rolls is also perfect.

The food is delicious... some things were missing from the order... and unfortunately they were also not on time and I had to wait almost an hour after I arrived until the order was ready and this is after the time stated when placing the order.

Superb quality sushi! We ordered the Osaka boat and it was excellent.

They have a wide variety of vegetarian sushi, my favourite is yam and avocado. Their bento boxes are perfect when you are very hungry and want a bit of everything.

I only ordered delivery from here but the food was great (beef udon/agedashi tofu). I also want to thank them for the care they put in customer service. I had a horrible experience with my Uber delivery driver who didn t show up and had to place another order. When my order came, I found a note attached explaining that the restaurant tried to call me earlier because the first Uber driver pressed pick up but never showed up. I missed the calls but I really appreciate that they tried to reach out and left the note. Will be a returning customer :)

Very good sushi for a reasonable price. Wouldn t go as far to say it s cheap but compared to other Toronto places, you definitely get a good portion of good quality food. Our waiter was there to take our orders and to bring our bill but he was very kind and quite efficient in his timing. The restaurant itself was very cute. It wasn t very large so definitely recommend making a reservation but it s a lovely atmosphere. Definitely give it a try :)

This place has the best black sesame ice cream in Toronto! The sushi is great too, always fresh and delicious; I highly recommend the lobster roll. Plating is also stellar.

Today my boyfriend and I planned to visit another place, but there is onework schedule on the Internet, and being already there, disappointment happened, because already standing at the front door we see that they are closed on Mondays, and we really wanted sushi we decided not to be upset and choose another one and this place was five minutes away from us, force majeure is my life, and I thought that without reading a lot about this place, I was afraid that it would be tasteless and you know what? So far, this is the most delicious sushi. Everywhere I could, I tried my favorite sushi philadelphia and california, and they have them so excellent .. The ingredients are the most tender, fresh, everything melts in your mouth and the presentation is even more refined the menu is also very convenient, with a photo and a description of what is included in the sushi itself, I took specific ones, but for people who still don t know what they would like, this is for you! My boyfriend ordered beef udon The only drawback was that the noodles were too dense and big for him, I would like thinner, but we didnt ask if it was possible , but despite this, everything was eaten) I also want to add for rolls Philadelphia, it was a discovery for me to see that the salmon not only lies on top, but also inside very unusual and very tasty. Until the end of the meal, my smile didnt leave me, so much so that I didnt peer at the price, because it was no longer important. Kiro Sushi once again, thanks a lot!

BBQ short ribs bento was kinda pricy but delicious (came with 8 pieces of short ribs). I didnt get a spoon for the miso soup and I didnt see other people with spoons for theirs either.

Amazing sushi place! I came across it when leaving the library and decided to give it a shot. The sushi was SO fresh and delicious. I tried the spicy salmon and the dynamite roll and they were both so good. The dynamite especially was elevated compared to other sushi spots. I love that they have lunch specials. Service was also excellent. Definitely recommend.

Excellent customer service and good food quality.

I love their ten zaru soba! Once I tried some of their sashimi dishes which tasted good but they ended up giving me VERY bad stomach problems. I had to go home, and I could not study for the rest of the day due to the discomfort. Service is nice, restaurant itself is nice, music is soft. All I am saying is: proceed with caution when it comes to the raw fish and PLEASE TRY THEIR TEN ZARU SOBA YUMMMYYYY!

They have lunch special even on the weekends. Fish was very fresh. My husband loves their Katsu Don. We are so happy to have discovered this sushi place.

My favorite sushi place in Toronto. I live about 30 mins driving from this place, but sometimes I crave their sushi so bad that I don t even mind driving. Always the freshest ingredients and great service. AMAZING!!! Side note for cream cheese roll lovers. Try their Philadelphia roll and ask them to make it with regular salmon instead of smoked salmon, IT S ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!!

One server seemed to be having a hard time because he was handling so many tables, but it was still delicious, so I go there sometimes when I feel like sushi.

Cute sushi place, and the price isnt too bad! 10% off if you pay in cash. We got a roll (super delicious), and 2 udons and their broth was really good! Tempura udon comes with soo many tempuras. Udon was very chewy and full of mushroom flavour.

Amazing sushi restaurant in Toronto! I had a sushi lunch here today. I remember real Japanese sushi if I got Kiro sushi:) I went after 1 oclock on a weekday, but it was past peak time, so I was seated without waiting. I ordered Sushi set #1. You can choose two types of rolls from the menu. (Ordered dynamite roll and salmon avocado) The lunch set also comes with miso soup. The nigiri sushi has a small amount of rice, which is good!However, the toppings are very large and feel fresh. Apparently not all of the fish is ordered from Japan!

Ordered for pick up and they take their time to cook like your order is not that important. If it says that your order is ready for pick up it is supposed to be Ready for pick up Since you re in downtown you should keep up with the fast pace. Regardless of how much the order is treat it all the same. Rather a big order or small order treat it all the same way.. Been disappointed so many times. Terrible customer service not even an apology that the food was late. Never going back here

My friend recommends this restaurant! So I went here with my friends. I had a Sushi Regular, which has 8 sushi and 8 dynamite rolls. The taste was fantastic. I like sushi but I haven t found a good place. Finally, I think I found a great place! The amount of sushi rice is small so I really like it! And the quality of the sashimi is awesome I feel it was melting on my tongue. One of my friends ordered Beef Udon soup. It was also great! The price is reasonable! If you wanna try great sushi, I recommend this place I really like sushi, and this place is really delicious. The sushi rice is not that big and the quality of the sashimi is so good that it melts in your mouth. The salmon is also really fatty and delicious. Its like eating at an expensive Korean sushi restaurant, but the prices are really good. The beef udon is a bit like nabe eating. feel? It tasted like beef nabe with udon and it was delicious! They also sell rice bowls, so it s okay to go with people who don t like sushi! Be sure to try it

The place has nice atmosphere. The food is good, not wow thats good but good. Server are friendly. They always have alot of to-go order. That makes the server extremely busy with to-go order. So dine in could take sometime.

New review (Sep 2023) We have been visiting this Japanese cuisine for a while now. They have been so great in service and food thus far, which has made me to update my review. I now believe they deserve a 5 star. Highly recommended. ======== Old review Ive been to this place once and ordered from them last night via Uber. I have to say the food quality was actually lovely the first time we dinned in. But, the service was not satisfactory. There was nobody to take our second order, and we had to wait really long for the order to be ready. They almost forgot about us!! So, we decided to order online. This time, though, we did not like the food at all. The salmons smelled terrible, and the veggies were just okay.

This sushi is amazing, highly recommended.

Yummy salmon bento box, endless green tea refills, great chill lounge music. The perfect solo serenity lunch just north of Yonge and Bloor.

Food was okay but the service was embarrassing. After paying for our food, a staff demanded us to tip as if the service was exceptional. They literally just took our order and never even asked how we were or how the food was. We also had to wait for a long period of time to get our bill. Tipping is a nice way of showing appreciation for the service provided. However, when it is imposed on the client it is no longer considered a tip, but a fee that should ve been included on the bill. Very disappointing customer service definitely not coming back.

Always fresh fish and fantastic roll options. This is the only place in whole Toronto that consistently exceeds expectations. Very fresh, great execution, great service, fair prices, lots of options - hands down the best sushi restaurant. 11/10

A wonderful place, the food is really good

Ambiance perfect for a date or evening office dinner. Service is generally abysmal (practically absent, waitresses have no clue about their menu lol) but the sushi is always extra fresh, served at perfect temperature. Red and white tuna, salmon and prawm was melting in the mouth. Sake is ok, miso is amazing. Not too busy, theres always free tables. Dietary restrictions: Il est possible de demander lexclusion de certains ingrédients.

Great location in Yorkville. Quiet street. Difficult parking, not wheelchair accessible. Small restaurant. Take out is best option but late lunch the staff wont rush you out. Ive been a client for years... everything is fresh, well presented and well prepared. Call ahead for big orders. Weekends are busy. Vegetarian options: Huge selection and always fresh fresh fresh. Dietary restrictions: They are extremely careful with gluten issues and shellfish.

Generous portion sizes with the sushi. Our server offered us cold glasses for our beer, which was very thoughtful and made the experience that much more enjoyable. Definitely recommend if you are in the area. The view outside the window is the Toronto Reference Library which is really nice.

Terrific sashimi - very large and fresh. Pair it with butterfish rolls and you have a five star satisfying lunch.

The sushi was delicious and the udon soup was also tasty. A little too salty in my opinion. But I would go back for the sushi for sure. Decently priced as well.

When I want to eat warm soup, I come here to eat udon. Please try the beef udon soup.

Worth the price

We ate here many many times with friends and family before. But we never will come back anymore. We been here at 5 pm today, no busy time and not too many customers there. But my family didn t get any greeting from the waitress. After my quickly question, we got her impatience and we thought about maybe she was moody today? So we left immediately and never come back.
