I have ordered here before and it was fine but black avocado and the entire meal rancid is unacceptable. The inside of the bag it was delivered in was soaking wet with water ? Hope so
Had to toss everything after finding a fly cooked into the rice. Picked up 2 bento boxes - one with pork katsu and one with teriyaki beef. The meats were both incredibly dry, hard and overcooked. Instead of using thin strips for the beef teriyaki, big chunks of hip, innards, and other tough cheap cuts were used. The pork cutlet was so dry the crust was peeling away from it. And to top it all off, we found a fly in the rice halfway through forcing ourselves through the meal. The miso soup and the tempura was also abysmal, the shrimp tail was entirely black and rotten - even if this was the last meal available on Earth, your digestive tract would never forgive you.
It's so tasty.. I tried it for the first time and loved it. fresh ingredients, quality and good flavour. good price, I paid 2 for 1. there are many promotions on uber eats..
The dining experience at this establishment leaves much to be desired. The food disappoints with its lackluster quality; the protein, ostensibly meant to be the highlight, arrives cold and lacking in substance. Even the tempura, a dish known for its crispy texture, falls short, arriving soft and devoid of the desired crunch. Service is notably absent, adding to the overall dissatisfaction. Customers are left to fend for themselves, with no staff present to attend to their needs or address any concerns they may have. The atmosphere only compounds the negative experience. The loud and incessant chatter of the staff disrupts any hope of enjoying a peaceful meal. Moreover, the tables are left in a state of disarray, with dirt and debris detracting from the dining environment. Overall, this establishment fails to meet even the most basic expectations for a pleasant dining experience. From subpar food to nonexistent service and a chaotic atmosphere, it leaves patrons feeling dissatisfied and unlikely to return.
Original review (5 stars): Food: 5/5 Ordered takeout from here, and honestly, I don’t know monkey sushi is consistently rated low on Yelp. From the sushi joints I’ve tried in Toronto so far, albeit not many, this is my go to. For the perfect balance of bang and buck, with their Uber specials, you honestly can’t go wrong. I ordered take out but the aburi salmon is so tasty, same with the salmon sashimi, and the salmon avocado roll. Not sure this is a popular opinion, but I do love this place! Edit on February 24th (3 stars): Used to love this place, but the last 3 times have not been the best honestly. Got it for takeout, so service and ambiance don't apply. Aburi sushi: 4/5 Spicy salmon: 3/5 Salmon sashimi: 3.5/5 The pickup / Uber deals are amazing and so worth it... so honestly, it's still worth it overall, but I feel like the quality used to be significantly better. Still going to order it once or twice more and post a follow up review, if it’s berter again!
Absolutely avoiding this place from now on. We have had their rolls and sushi before. It's not WOW, but it was good. We got a delivery and you can see yourself presentation can be misleading. This is what was wrong with our order: -First couple bites in, food tasted bland. -Started feeling full on a bunch of nothing. 70 percent of the rolls is tempura batter and more tempura bits. (Literally just fried crumbs) -Stomach was feeling icky. -Checked their shrimp inside rolls (they were undercooked) -Certain parts of the rolls felt and tasted STALE. -AGAIN, we got more tempura batter than shrimp.(Pictures as proof) TL;DR : Undercooked, stale food, filled with tempura batter to make it look appealing/larger size. Had to toss to the garbage more than half This wasn't a cheap meal either. $65
I had the pleasure of trying multiple times the sushi at Monkey Sushi and I must say it was good! The sushi was fresh and the quality price was fair. The staff was friendly and helpful always. The atmosphere overall is relaxed and inviting. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to have a quick and affordable dinner. The sizes are larger than expected. Quantity over fineness but I always enjoyed it.
Unbeatable value for mediocre quality. My judgement is based on one-time UberEats delivery. Price-wise, the quantity of food for the price is absolutely unbeatable in the Yonge/Eg area. However, quality-wise, their rolls are mediocre at best. Salmon tastes weird and their rice is not good-quality. As is the case with most things in life, you get exactly what you pay for. If you want better quality maki and sushi, you'll have to pay more. Personally, I recommend either Fukui Sushi (1612 Bayview Ave) or Kintako Sushi (214 Laird Dr #101)
delicious sushi party trade and good price * yummy
A decent sushi place, you get what you pay for.
we ordered salmon lovers poke bowl and spicy salmon and loved the taste and quality at a good price! Also loved the rice options--I ordered half brown rice and half sushi rice.
I order the salmon teriyaki at the Bloor West location as well as here, and there s a world of difference between them. I have to say, the one here has a strange smell.
Horrible food!! Don t go!! So many better options close by with fresher food and better prices! Food : 1/5
The Sushi Roll had more rice and less meat. Tasted decent! The Soy Sauce they serve when you ask for extra of it is not the best. Ruined the taste in the end..! I m sure you ve had better Sushi elsewhere!
Good price, really fast but the smell of the place isn t good (smell fried food)
WORST TERIYAKI CHICKEN EVER! The chicken felt like it was a few weeks old. Threw after one bite. Dont risk your life here
Food was horrible! We had chicken fried rice and Teriyaki chicken. Chicken was so bad, it had a fowl smell. We believe it to be very old. Sushi was okay though. My advise: Please don t go there.
Sushi here is great and affordable. I had a sushi and sashimi combo with miso soup. They are quite fast too, I waited less than 10 min for the food and ordered both to go and to dine in.
Amazing sushi, soft, tasty, and you can pick which rolls you want in the Monkey Party Platter!
Do not expect the same quality shown on the images, not worth for the price, however, staff is nice
Would give zero stars if I could
Sushi was acceptable overall but the spicy tuna roll and yam roll were horrendous- tuna was incredibly fishy and the yam roll was soaked in oil and flavorless. Not great for the price
Avg
They always forget something, especially the extras that you pay for.
They literally so cheap on the eel and salmon look at this is what I got for the dragon roll lover
Sorry but that was the most bland meal I have had. The tempura tasted like the oil was old and needed to be changed. The tempura sauce was brown water. No flavour. Annoyed I paid for it when we threw most of it out.
Terrible sushi. No taste whatsoever. There s a reason they re doing buy one get one, it s the only way anybody could be convinced to make the mistake of having this wretched, torturous sushi
Good food, great prices
The smallest salmon sashimi
Great for ordering in but not a sit-in. They don t serve in plates (it just comes out in takeout bags) and there aren t even customer washrooms (refusing even for children) Pretty misleading to call this place a restaurant. It s more like a ghost kitchen useful for pickup or delivery only. They should probably just close the seating area if they aren t going to treat it like one Kid-friendliness: Not kid friendly at all since there aren t any washroom
Terrible compared to the Bloor Spadina branch. Better teriyaki there.
Quick, fast and cheap. Monkey Sushi isnt going to win any Michelin stars, but for a Thursday-night treat, its got everything youre looking for.
I used to like it but i was very disappointed last time i won t reorder
Had the poke bowl, good selection of ingredients
Ordered sushi from here and all of it was spoiled, getting both me and my girlfriend really sick. We ordered eel rolls and they were burnt and had a strange, bitter taste. Tasted almost like liquid smoke and butane. The salmon we ordered was pale and had weird grey streaks in it, and had an overwhelmingly fishy taste, and the tuna was mealy, and had an even stronger fish taste Their shrimp tempura was undercooked as well After eating, the entire room stank like dead fish, and my girlfriend started getting sick miso soup was ok tho Do not buy from here, they will sell you rotten fish.
Ordered $50 worth of food using uber eat. They goes straight to the trash. Its so painful to do that in this economy. All the salmon are spoiled, they taste sour. Reading the reviews here it seems like this is a common problem. I would love to support local businesses but food safety should be taken seriously.
While you can sit this is mostly take out. Very popular and very busy. Order in advance for pickup. Lots of variety
Respectful people. I love Japanese
The sushi falls apart very easily and the lack of actual fish is crazy. Service was good but not wasting my money here again
I purchased 65 dollars worth of sushi the salmon lover tray to be exact and the guy wouldn t give me more than one little container of wasabi or soya sauce without charging me 50 cents each sauce. Totally pathetic especially when I ordered I specifically said I wanted extra.
Best Sudhi
Sushi for a good price! I generally order from Uber Eats and the restaurant offers the bogo promotion.
Ordered $100+ worth of food from this place (monkey sushi castlefield) Sushi rolls were ok. Ordered 2 salmon poke bowls. On mixed greens. With 8 choices of toppings, all I got was a bunch of mixed greens, lots of onion. Almost no salmon and very little avocado as well. HUGE RIP OFF! Do NOT order here ever!
Rice with salt water instead of soy for $50, plus they gave a package P.S there is no toilet
Used to be a good value, but their prices have continually gone up the last two years, with no end in site. Theyve gone up about 40% on their party trays, and the amount of fish used has gone down.
All is good except for the customer service. I clearly said NO cucumber because I m allergic to it and half my order is full of it ! I said it twice!!!! And this is not the first time that happens. Was on purpose!
Decent if youre looking for an affordable quick meal. their strength is in the tempura, and im not the best judge of this but the fish tastes good and fresh. the rolls are decent but the avocado is very obviously not fresh, i ended up poking them out of my food.
***!!!AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!!! *** This restaurant gave us spoiled fish. We became very ill and we cannot receive a refund although offering to provide the majority of the food as proof. (Atleast 90% if not more) Food : 1/5
I used to order all the time from this restaurant, but my last order was HORRIBLE! The miso soup was clearly gone bad, as it did not taste right. I called the store and the girl who picked up said there is nothing she could do.
Food was stale and old
Neat tables and average prices. Not a lot of veggie options tho
Party tray (no meat)- Decent price . Fresh. Food
I ordered Red dragon role on Uber Eats. In all other places it always comes with a salmon on top, but here they put tuna on the top of the rolls. I can t stand tune, so had to throw my order into the garbage bin. They didn t put any description that it supposed to come with tuna. Also the delivery guy told me that he was waiting a long time for the order that s why he delivered the ordered only in 1 hour 30 minutes
I ordered pick-up tonight. I got the Sushi & Sashimi Diamond (28pcs) combo. The pick-up time was super quick and the service was nothing above and beyond, but they were nice. However, please do not make the same mistake as I did, ordering late on a Monday night because the food was terrible. I hate to say this word, but the fish was rotten, tainted, spoiled. Whatever word you want to use to describe the type of fish you should NOT eat. It was a long day and I was hungry, so I ate a decent amount before realizing that it was the quality of food that makes you write a google review perched on the toilet at 1:29am on a Tuesday. I have ordered from Monkey Sushi Bloor many times and I have always loved the level of quality and service I have received. I am honestly surprised that there is such a difference in quality between same city chain restaurants. Truly disappointed and I will not be ordering from here ever again.
Its kind of like a fast food sushi place quality is not so good, but it is relatively inexpensive.
Hostile staff to drivers
Love this cozy place. The trays that come, look STACKED. Come hungry. I had the chicken bento box.
The food is delicious!! I went there many times already, and I have never been disappointed. I have never sit down to eat, always taking to go, but the place looks very bright and spacious.
Easy and quick if you need something for pick up. The staff are friendly and helpful as well. The quality is definitely not the best but it is also much more affordable then other places. The biggest piece of feedback I have is to give more wasabi.
My first time trying this place, I got the lunch bento box and was pleased with the food portion for the price. Very affordable. The beef ribs had a good flavour but were a little chewy. Would try this place again.
Their paper thin salmon sushi is not worth it. You can see the rice doing a peek-a-boo act. Rice is also plainly flavourless tasting...
Ordered some maki. Rice was over cooked. Spicy salmon maki tasted like breadcrumb maki. Spider roll had a pieces of salmon scraps on it. Save your time and get sushi somewhere else.
Ordered the chicken and pork lunch bento boxes. I wasn t expecting much from a $12.95 bento but I was surprised with the portions and how much food it came with. Even got free gyozas! The staff are friendly and the store looked clean.
Variety of great food, including soups, lunch, and dinner meals. Sushi is fresh, nicely arranged on a plate, and theres plenty of combinations for everyone. Staff is very kind and the most important, prices are affordable.
Dont order their take out. Really bad quality and unfair price.
My go-to sushi shop when Im in the area. Really good value for the price. The sushi is large and delicious, service is so quick, staff are extremely efficient and nice. All around a really good place. Eat the sushi though. I had some teriyaki salmon and I regret it, it was pretty tasteless. Despite the teriyaki, Ive had so many good sushi experiences that Im giving them 5 stars all around. Eat the sushi and youll be fine ;)
The worst sushi Ive ever had. I didnt like the taste, and Im very disappointed, because for the price I paid (80$ ) I expected something with better quality!
Loved the ambience..food is delicious. I tried vegetarian sushi platter, which came with salad and miso soup, it was really amazing. I will definitely come back for some more. Vegetarian options: Good range and taste of vegetarian options..
Amazing food and deals
Gross. Dont eat this sushi. Portions are large but its terrible fish. Large portions of gross fish.
Honest and affordable sushi, but it seems they got so used with only working with takeouts that forgot how to serve food for people dining in the restaurant.
Tonight, I went to pick up my order from Rock Sushi, but the store was dark and vacant with a piece of paper on the window including a phone number and the new address. When I called, no one answered me and when I followed google map to get the new location, there was no restaurant there, it was actually a police station. I got very confused, and I tried again by entering the zip code to get the restaurant. Finally, I reached Monkey Sushi restaurant and my order was there !!! I told the lady about the unanswered phone call, the wrong address and the amount of time I had to spend to get there, but she rudely asked me to call Uber and tell them about the inconvenience. The answer does not make sense to me, and this dish was not worth all the confusion and time.
Good spot for a quick bite or take it to go. Food was good, big menu, very reasonable prices.
Their sushi was not great but okay for the price. But now? Its not even cheap enough for the price. Quality is still far down there. And use very small pieces of sashimi for sushi and rolls.
Ive been here in person and Ubereats delivered (Eglinton location). Its sushi at its best value. Huge menu and many combos. Here I got the Monkey Special Set 3 of salmon sushi, premium nigiri and eel sushi. Got miso and seaweed salad (free). Tasted great! Rice-sushi ratio was good and sushi rice was perfectly soft. The party tray salmon sushi quality is meh but the salmon sashimi are good. As seen below. Got free fish roe sushi :)
EDIT: I hate to edit my 5 star review, but this place has really gone downhill. The last 5 or more times that Ive ordered from here have been unpleasant. Spring rolls are ice cold and soggy and Ive never gotten a yam tempera roll that was crispy or warm. Everything is usually cold and soggy. The sushi always looks sloppy and falls apart. Whenever I order any veggie rolls, theyre almost always contaminated with Tobiko. The miso soup tastes weird. I dont know what happened to this place. I only order from here because of the price but I have to stop. Its not worth it. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Original review 2 years ago: Just tried this place for the first time last night. It was AMAZING! I ordered the Veggie Bento Box and some other rolls. The prices are great, food is fantastic, portion sizes are awesome, presentation is beautiful. I hadnt had sushi in a long time due to every place in the area being too pricy for me. Very thankful that my friend recommended this place. This will be my new sushi place from now on.
Terrible customer service, absolutely awful! Wait times are so much longer than when it says it will be ready. Pointless to come here, avoid this place.
Prices are alright. Bento box was dull and lacked taste. Food overall lacks flavor. Miso soup was ok. Udon bowl didnt impress. Veg Sushi rolls were ok
The worst place ever. The chicken was raw, and the oil used for the tempura had a bitter taste, and was likely stale. Way better options for sushi and japanese cuisine in the area than this place.
This place is a joke. The food is terrible. Don t go here.
Prices are great. Food is great as well
-Rolls will always fall apart and land in soy sauce... :( - Taste and presentation is hit or miss. More likely a miss than a hit. -If you order on Uber eats, expect to regularly wait at least an hour for basic avocado and cucumber rolls. I dont believe they have a customer washroom so I never go there to sit down and eat. Its affordable tho....
Price Increase Alert! Their Prices have gone up and their portion sizes have got smaller. I would try another place. Were done with them as quality of food has diminished. Found a large piece of hair in my shrimp tempura.
Ordered a sushi set there was hair in my food, I call for assistance and I m told they don t see my order, absolutely disgusting. I looked at the reviews beforehand and didn t believe em until I m pulling out a piece of hair from my sushi roll. Not to mention the nasty tinfoil taste on my sushi. If you can go somewhere else I urge you to do so.
Excelent food, very good atmosphere to dine in, fast service, fair price. 100% recommended.
The sushi is not very authentic and I found it to taste more like Bento or supermarket quality. Okay just to grab, but if you really like traditional flavours this likely isnt the spot for you
Fan of the first Monkey sushi in Annex, but now its finally a bit closer to home.
Their poke bowls are a joke. Its basically 5 cups of sushi rice with 5 tiny cubes of salmon and a couple of edamame and corn tossed on top for good measure. If you are craving plain sushi rice then go ahead and order the poke bowl and enjoy! Their rolls were also not great.
A very good sushi place
Food has worsened significantly recently. Prices have gone up, portion have gotten smaller however the quality of the food has honestly been inedible recently. Rice isn t sticky and the salmon quality is much worse. Will not be getting takeout from here anymore sadly.
It is a kind of fast food of Japanese food in Eaglinton east. The combos are good and a interesting price.
You get what you pay, and this place is no different. Food is cheap, but bland, and so is the interior. The servers are nice, but I saw one of them wearing long false nails and touching and scratching himself in the face and neck while handling food items. Personal hygiene is essential in food business, but it seems they take a backseat in this place.
I really liked the poke bowl. Lately it is hard to find a poke bowl that is not priced incredibly high, so I am happy they kept their prices low. I also loved that is not dripping in sauce, it was the perfect amount.
We had some good times with friend. Sushi was fresh
I usually like their food. I didn t give 5 stars because, out of nowhere, they stopped giving those free fried wontons with my order. And sometimes their salmon, avocado, and cream cheese roll has 80% of avocado.
Cant beat the value. The salmon is sometimes not great and avocado is a bit inconsistent depending on the season but everything else is excellent. And the prices are fantastic.
Bento box lunch special is great value.
Ignored instructions. Money went to waste.
I love monkey sushi. Peace Stay Safe. Merci beaucoup. Miigwech. Vegetarian options: Super yummy. Kid-friendliness: Kids love rice and tempura Wheelchair accessibility: All on one floor.
Garbage
Great for a quick cheap casual lunch. I feel like the fish is very fresh because they have so much business.
Weve ordered sushi last week. 3 sets in total. One of them was super fresh and nice and the rest was not fresh, dry. I did not have courage to eat it.
Soured miso soup for my lunch and this is red dragon roll
Incredibly poor customer service by the manager, placed a larger order for pickup, forgot to check the bag before leaving the restaurant (My mistake) but once I got home and opened everything up they had forgotten to include two rolls. I called the restaurant to try and correct the issue but the manager angrily insisted she had packed the rolls herself and they would not remake the rolls for me to pickup. Thankfully I had placed through Uber eats and was able to request a refund through their portal, manager was hostile, rude and quite frankly dense. I highly recommend you order from other sushi restaurants in the area before Monkey Sushi, if you must order from them check your bag immediately upon delivery or at pickup before leaving, and use Uber Eats, at least they will help you correct the issue.
Easily the best bang for your buck when it comes to Sushi. Uber eats always has promotions for this place which makes it cheaper to order on the app then calling the place. Seems odd but its true, even with their fees. Portions are reasonable and sushi is cheaper than most other places. I wouldnt say its the BEST quality, but Im quite happy with it. If Im looking for a nice date, I wouldnt come here, but its a great option for lunch.
Don t go. Not clean
Their service is top notch and the food is phenomenal. Properly priced and really puts attention to detail when specifics are included for orders. Try them and then try them again! Love them!!
You have to consider price vs. quality, and for that it is 5 stars. Satisfying takeout.
Last night I ordered food from the Eglinton location through Uber eats. Not taking to count that it took them a very long time to prepare our small order, the chicken in the Ume box smelled off and upon closer look the chicken was raw! So did the fried golden sushi. Ive been seriously sick eventhough I only took a bit. Raw food specially poultry is serious health hazard. How can you so carelessly serve it?! Never Again!!!
Great quality of food and the prices are very reasonable. They use fresh ingredients, the portions are good with a nice presentation. I usually go for their combos and never regret it. I strongly recommend.
They got my order wrong after I specifically repeated it multiple times
Not only is the sushi excellent, but they have the best deal in town on Uber eats. You get 12 rolls, a handroll, and a miso soup for 21 dollars........and then you get ANOTHER ONE FREE. Seriously, my girlfriend and I eat this every time we dont want to cook. Staff is great. I foresee myself picking up from here once a week for as long as I live in the area.
Ordered takoyaki today but it was not like last time that I ordered from here. And the miso soup gone bad. Disappointed
I ve been consistently dissatisfied with the sushi ordered from here over the last 3-4 times. Never seems to be fresh, ratios are all off with overloading of rice, and there s no flavour in the sushi really. It s just an overall disappointment for the price point.
I ordered the Teriyake Beef Don. The teriyaki sauce was not flavourful at all and the worst thing was that most of the beef wasn t thoroughly cooked. Only 30% of the beef was cooked. Also, the portions were not great since it was 70% rice and 30% meat. Was really excited to eat here but now I m utterly disappointed.
Awesome! I just ordered for the first time. Well packed, quick, hot food came hot. Very fresh, properly prepared and tasty! I will definitely be ordering often. As of today, I now have a new place to order from. I needed this new change. Thanks Monkey Sushi! Were in a relationship now
Miso soup gone sour, tako sashimi definitely not fresh anymore. Strong fishy smell just like dead fish from many days ago. Worst sushi ever! Very disappointed. Complaint to Uber already
Update: the food quality has declined over the last few months. Salmon feels like it was just frozen other fish does not taste fresh. Miso soup is bad. Great sushi for this price point. They have good combos and specials and the food is great.
Terrible fried rice. Decent prices.
I think for the price of the party tray, it was ok-worth it. But the sushi were really mediocre, and you can tell that they dont really pay much attention to details. The unagi was kind of fragmented and ripped. The tobiko were dumped on a few maki instead of spread out nicely and evenly. In short, the sushi werent wrapped nicely, as if an amateur did it. Its a good place to fill yourself up, but Id rather spend my calories quota elsewhere.
ordered sushi and a rice dish that both tasted very off, and became violently ill an hour later. their prices are cheap but comes at a huge cost. never again.
Delicious. We always order green dragon rolls, our last order wasnt very good but we decided to try again. The staff are always polite and friendly, I wish they had a system that remembered our previous order, other than that its a great spot for Sushil.
Incredibly small portions and tasteless. My dragon roll came with dime size portions of salmon on top
Bad, very bad experience.
Pretty stingy with the fish, the fish on top of one of our rolls was laughably small. Wish I took a picture. Flavor was okay.
Stopped here on a whim and was absolutely delighted by the vast menu, friendly service, and great prices!! Lots of vegetarian options. The rolls were very fresh, and we got quite a lot of food for what we paid. The place was clean and very nice inside. I will definitely be back!
Used to order only from monkey sushi. Sushi was very mediocre and disappointing. Salad greens were wilted and brown. On line order exptected 15% tip. Will be looking for a different sushi restaurant in the future.
It was just ok, nothing exceptional. No vegan dedicated items but only vegetarian portion of the menu. I generally just order sushi else where if they have dedicated vegan menu, but was not within the reach of that other Sushi restaurant.
Don t waste your money here to make you sick. There is a reason for lots of negative reviews. All of them are 100% correct. Worst of worst sushi in my life!!!
Worst sushi/roll/maki I had in years!!! DO NOT go there. Don t waste your time or money. Never going there again. Too much rice compared to any other ingredients. Some didn t even have salmon in them. The maki was empty when you turn it upside down and see from the bottom-up. Fried dumplings were souggy and hard to chew. The tempuras were hard and tasted stale. Found fish thorns and skin in between the sushi.
The quality of food is not very good. Their torched rolls are cold and not very good. I asked for extra ginger and they gave me a ketchup pack of ginger and they did not want to provide without extra charge. I also noticed that on 2 occasions we had missing rolls and food. The staff at the restaurant were friendly though.
I don t know how this place is 4.7 on Uber review. Don t make the same mistake as I did. Save your money.
First time in my life I couldnt finish sushi . The quality of the rice felt like too much water from a rice cooker and wasnt the appropriate grain. The salman was sad. I cant explain how the salmon sashimi presentation looked very handled and unappetizing. The rolls were ok. The salad and miso soup were ok. Ended up throwing out 3 pieces of sushi sadly .
i literally always order from here & i love it
Its okay. You can definitely get something cheaper at a grocery store with the same quality, if not better.
I work across the street from this place and I came by on my lunch break. I ordered a spicy salmon roll and a shrimp tempura roll. Pretty underwhelmed, it s mediocre and doesn t taste that great. I noticed the tempura bits had a stale taste. Not gonna come back here.
Good service, recommend the cooked foods. Someone I know got Fish Tapeworm Parasites after constantly eating the cheap raw salmon sushi from here.
All the rolls just broken so we ate with our hands. 8 pcs salmon sashimi which all sashimi different sizes. I know its cheap but this is went too far. Too much low quality and the price is too high with this quality
This place is not the same anymore. 2 weeks ago, we found a piece of metal in our miso soup, and today we found this extra protein layer. Weve had enough! I dont know how I got a bug on my soup but Im definitely not ordering from here anymore!!! PS: The Sushi Monkey at Rosedale does it better with no extra disgusting surprises.
Friendly and super helpful staff!
Good sushi place, tasty and fresh. 4*.
I was so very disappointed. The food of poor quality, poorly packaged and they obviously missed some ingredients.
Easily some of the worst sushi Ive had
The worst take out from Monkey sushi outlet. I usually like the quick take out from Monkey sushi and I order the usual salmon lover and specials. This time, they really downsize the portion of their salmon and cut it so thin and small. The miso soup is so bland and also the roll isn t torched properly. It s not worth the money anymore.
The quality of the food was very bad. It was tasteless, absolute no flavour. Worst Sushi Ive ever had. Dont waste your money.
First time in the place and felt super warmly welcomed. Sue the cashier has the best customer service. Took note of my allergies and what I was looking for for dinner! If Im around again, Ill be back!
I just ordered uber. Worst japanese restaurant ever. Sushi rice is not marinated at all so you need extra soy sauce for sushi and maki. Miso soup is more like water no favor. Ginger smalls like a mop. Never order from here.
Best sushi place in midtown area!
I want this place to be my go-to favourite place... But I wish they properly make their rice. There is no seasoning in the rice. It is so poorly balanced when it hits your palatte...your tastebuds get coated with a mush of flavourless mush and it sticks to it so you cant properly enjoy the other flavours of the fish or toppings. Their sashimi is sliced thin and small...what would typically be the size of what you pay for 1 piece is cut into 2-3 piece. Overall, this entire party tray is super overpriced and not worth it. The party tray was $60. If you want a quick fix for sushi, dont bother getting anything with rice. But you end up paying huge premiums for their sashimi.
literally the worst sushi i have ever had do not order from here
The rice was soft and overcooked. The salmon in the maki was basically non exisitant. Very skimpy on the fish, which was also poor quality (or old?). They also had a buy 1 get 1 deal on uber eats. Which was double the price of the a la carte. But because of the buy 1 get 1, it looks like a good deal when in fact you are paying regular price. Very shady. Awful sushi. Please work to increase your quality and stop trying to scam your customers.
Red Dragon came with almost no salmon - should have been named dynamite roll. Also gross unfresh avocado Food : 2/5
So much sushi for $40! Amazing stuff!
MONKEY SUSHI!!!! i love thé soup and
Treated myself to the dragon lover combo, it was a lot of food. I could barely finish my meal
Lots of food at a decent price. Rice to fish ratio is probably 20% too high.
Best sushi place for price and quality.
The portions are huge, but the problem is the quality of the sushi. It s not always fresh nor it tastes like one. The greed dragon roll doesn t even have any shrimp in it, instead they use fake crab meat.
Shouldve paid more attention to negative reviews and chose something more expensive but better quality. Totally disappointed. Pictures speak for themselves - its supposed to be 52 pieces.
Amazing service from Monkey Sushi Eglinton. Ordered 25 bento boxes and the portion was huge. Friends were happy with their food. Rose, the manager was so accommodating.
Pretty great quality of sushi considering the price. They are always generous with sauce and seaweed salad :)
Delicious
Really tasty and generous portions. My go to place for sushi.
Sushi was not good. It didn t taste fresh at all. Furthermore when I went to collect (after pre ordering) I had to wait for 15mins (despite being told my order was ready). A clear lapse. Decent price point though.
Amazing! Ordered pick up with uber eats. Delicious food, great portions, and lovely people.
If you were comparing this only to all you can eat restaurants it would fare pretty well, but if you compare it to other high quality sushi restaurants 3/5 is a much more fair rating. Rice was very dense and under seasoned, Poor quality seaweed used for hand rolls.
Good quality sushi and very reasonable prices
Pretty good sushi for a good price. I used a buy one-get one deal from Uber Eats to get sushi. It was a lot of food for a very good price for sushi. If I had paid full price, I dont think I would have been as pleased since the fish looked strange but it was a good deal for the price and tasted good. Id eat here again with another good deal.
This is frequently out go-to place for sushi. Terrific balance of quality and price, my partner and I will just grab a tray and can make four meals out of it easy. They have also been great every time when we ask for modifications due to allergies (gluten free).
Attractive price but no more than an ok sushi. If you are low on budget, go for it, but if you can pay a little more, there are other better options in the area
Price is super cheap in terms of what you are getting. $18 for a full-sized bento, free gyoza, tempura, miso soup, salad and 5pc nigiri, dragon roll and sashimi set is just a fabulous deal. I hope they will consider opening a location in North York center area then I wouldnt need to order delivery and I would get take out everyday!
Such a good deal and the sushi is very fresh
I ordered it via Uber a while ago... I usually dont leave restaurant reviews, even if its too annoying, but this one... The salmon wasnt bad, but the miso was too bland, probably because it was just colored, and the beef and broccoli werent seasoned well. All the dishes were not seasoned at all. The beef is so tough that it hurts my jaw. I asked for chopsticks as well, but there are two dishes, so why did they give me only one chopstick..
One of the best sushi places in town! Ordered it for the first time this summer, and didn t get sushi anywhere else ever since! Great fresh ingredients, fast preparing of the orders! Will be your regular customer for sure
Monkey Sushi has become our regular place to order sushi from. Good-sized tasty rolls at great prices - seriously, some of the SkipTheDishes deals are ridiculous!
This restaurant was so good when it first opened. Their fish quality went downhill since then. Last time I ordered from them I could smell how bad fish was. Unless this improves with the restaurant I cannot see myself ordering from here again.
Good quality and good price. This is now my favourite sushi spot in the area
Great spot, not the quickest service but the good sushi deals are here. Also spicy mayo is free! Unlike the distasteful trend of charging for spicy mayo that other establishments have started.
Salmon is fat and they didn t cut the skin clearly. It s gross
I got takeout lunch specials here twice, two weeks in a row. Service okay. Prices pretty cheap. Quality meh. The first time, the rolls were decent and the sushi was just okay as the rice was a bit dry, and unseasoned and the rolls as in plain as heck. The rolls are not great quality, but okay for the price if you want plain tasting. If you want tasty sushi go elsewhere. Second time, same as above except they messed up my order. I ordered the exact same combo, but they gave me a different roll, but when I called to advise they immediately took action and advised that I d get a replacement on my next visit so that made up for their error. The rolls however weren t that great this time. Normally, food is good in quantity, but the rolls were too enormous stuffed with rice that it took away from a good quality roll. Rolls have too much rice and are too dense, not flavourful, and it makes me wonder if they re not using sushi rice or mixing sushi rice with regular rice...something is not right. This place seems okay if you re not looking for amazing rolls and want to be cheap, but you won t feel satisfied you were stingy. Update: I got my replacement today. It is only a replacement of the roll that they messed up. Again quality is meh AND based on my last experience, this time when I called to order pickup and they said it ll be ready in 10mins, I told them that I ll be later. I wanted my food to taste fresher, but it didn t seem to matter for the quality and the girl also didn t ask them to delay making it. They still made it quite early so if ordering do not order too early. I ll go back to my regular sushi joint (more satisfying!) unless I want a cheap lunch special.
My go to for takeout! Huge portions and great price
