Sushi Rock in Toronto

I m not a picky eater, but the food tasted horrible. We couldn t even finish our meals. Maybe we just ordered the wrong items, but I won t be going back any time soon.

Ive done take-out & delivery here. They have really great delivery specials through DoorDash, lots of food. Always really fresh & well packaged for delivery. The lady who answers the phone is really kind also (I had a couple questions about bigger orders). Theyre fast, & the food is perfect every time.

I m a sushi enthusiast and know what good sushi tastes like. I placed my first and last order through Uber Eats, and I cannot express how disappointed I was with their tuna roll. First of all, the rice was mushy and thick; on top of that, it wasn t proper sushi rice at all. The sushi roll was huge, definitely not the standard size. The soy sauce didn t even taste right it felt like it was diluted with water. I also ordered chicken katsu udon, and everything was mushy. Honestly, I couldn t even finish the meal because it just wasn t it. Unfortunately, I don t recommend this place. Although it may seem the restaurant have good deals, but even then don t waste your money.

Suggestion: preciously sweet and sour fish was so much better (not so deep fried) - would looove to see it back in the original recipe! Rock shrimps still rock

I ordered 2 chicken teriyaki via a delivery app for nearly $30. The chicken was dry and had barely any teriyaki sauce despite me requesting that they add an adequate amount. The rice was flavourless.

I am a sushi buffet, and this was by far the best sushi I ever had, super fresh, huge prices, lots of fish, amazing tempura and a great location.

They charged my credit card twice. When I showed them on my statement they told me they would look into it, took my number and I never heard from them again. I went back and asked and they said they will call me back never heard from them. Had the charge reversed by my cc company. Food was sub par at best. I won t return

Terrible quality. The food was totally expired and I was poisoned for three days. I I highly recommend not to order anything from this store if you care about your health.

I ordered the Dragon sushi part tray and miso soup. The sushi is not as fresh, the rice of the sushi tasted so soggy and mushy! For the tempura sushi, they only gave me the ends of the tempura which had no shrimp. The miso soup basicly tasted like water. I wanted to give this store a chance despite the reviews but i guess it really disapointed me. I dont even feel good after eating the raw fish, im having a food poisioning. I had left overs and i couldnt eat them because the next morning the tuna/white tuna sashimi gone brown as well as the sushi rolls rice turned pink which mean it gone bad. Ive ordered many sushi stores and they stayed fresh no matter what, this explains how this sushi rock is not fresh. Overall I dont reccomend.

The salmon sashimi was soft and it was delightful and I highly recommend the Black Pearl Roll.

They had my entire order wrong. I ordered party trays for a large gathering. The entire order was wrong and we couldnt even finish the food because most of us didnt eat raw fish.

They have decent vegetarian options! I visit this place almost weekly for their Yammy Roll. The yam tempura is almost always super crisp and the mango sauce is delicious. Pieces are quite large too, this order comes with 8 pieces and I am usually comfortably full in 4 pieces! The staff is very friendly, always remembers my order, and lets me do takeout in my own container. Service can be slow in evenings and on weekends, but I ve not had issues during weekdays.

I have ordered food here, eaten here, etc etc. Me and my siblings really like their dumplings here. It s my little sister s favourite. I personally like their sushi tho and their short beef ribs I like the ambiance here. Peaceful and everything s really nice. The servers there are also very nice too! overall, I had a great experience and I really recommend yall to go here.

Ordered off Uber eats and I am very happy! I don t give out 5 star reviews easily but they exceeded expectations. The miso soup was amazing and it was only $1, the salmon teriyaki was well cooked and flavourful along with great portion sizes. The tempura shrimp and veggies were sooo good. No negatives, you have to try!!

DO NOT Order from this place! We just received our order through Uber Eat, instead of spicy tuna roll, they literally sent us rice rolls with mashed semi-cooked/rotten tuna with cucumber. They seem have scrapped the tuna out of a leftover plate. So sorry for the owner who thinks people are stupid and don t understand the compromised quality. We also had ordered beef teriyaki, the picture presents a pinky fresh meet, whereas we received chewy black plastic. I had a refund by Uber Eat, but wanted to make sure everyone are aware of such a low-class sushi place.

Worst service ever, it s really bad, I placed a pick-up order and it took 40 minutes for them to deliver it to me. They are too rude and never gave me a reason the multiple times I asked about my order. What a bad experience and bad food.

Been awhile since eaten here and its moved further north , north of Broadview... Had 2 torched rolls, just smelled torched and smothered in sauce. Again tempura shrimp not the lightest crispiest batter, and the sizzling beef was drenched in sauce and way too much pepper so all you could taste was pepper to cover the blandness of the meat. I do not think I would bother going back, as many more sushi options in the area. Disappointed. Waitress could have smiled and seemed a bit welcoming...I felt like we were annoying her. Usually do not like to give bad reviews, but was disappointed in the food and service. Just my opinion. Prior visit review when it served as an all you can eat...prior 2023 Good choice of items, fast and friendly service...sushi not amazing but not the worst. Eel sushi was not slathered in sauce but marinated which was nice!! Short ribs very good...tempura batter bit thick if lighter and crisper would be better... Got given someone elses order...of roll which added more to our oder that ee had to eat even though advised that we didnt order it but other than that a good exoerience overall.

Really great platter! This is the salmon lover party tray and all of the fish was super fresh! The rolls were also bigger than I thought so definitely brought a lot of this home!

The special roll I ordered, the amount of ingredients really shouldn t be too small. There is a lot of rice wrapped in scallops and very little sauce. All in all, I, who am not very particular about food, found it tasteless and not worth it! The taste and amount of ingredients are obviously much worse than what the boss made five years ago!

I ate a salmon roll, but the rice had a plastic texture. I couldnt chew it, so I just spit it out. Oh, its inside the Toronto airport.

We had a nice dinner here tonight. They got plenty of food choices. Four of us had Hakka chow mein, beef in hot plate, shrimp and sashimi and some spicy rolls. Food is fresh and tasty and big size, it s a good place to go when you wanna try more kinds of food.

One of the most average places Ive ever been. Nothing was worth it. Its also odd because it seems to be a dim sum restaurant and a sushi restaurant, both with different names, that somehow exist in the same place.

Soggy, not fresh sushi. Rice is Soggy, overcooked. Fried shrimp in dragon rolls were chewy, not fresh and crispy, same for the tempura bits. Dont order from here. Mido soup is watery, like broth. Not worth the price.

You get what you pay for. This is one of the more affordable sushi spots midtown. The sushi rice was so mushy and over cooked and lacked flavor. I think I would just stick to ordering salmon sashimi if I come back again. It s only incrementally better than gas station sushi. You get what you pay for.

I think the staff is inadequate. Because when I go to pick up the order, there are too many people waiting like me. The order is too much and they cant deliver it.

Our inaugural experience with their sushi left much to be desired, prompted by a tempting discount on the delivery app. Despite the seemingly generous portions in Party Tray B, tempura, miso soup, and hot and sour soup, the overall quality fell short. The sushi exhibited a lack of freshness, with a noticeable frozen taste in the fish meat and an uninspiring sushi rice. While the tempura was passable, its temperature hinted at pre-cooking, unlike the piping hot soups. Speaking of soups, the miso soup and hot and sour soup landed in the realm of mediocrity. The hot and sour soup, in particular, lacked the expected array of ingredients, diverging from the customary richness of this classic dish. Despite my fondness for hot and sour soup, this rendition proved so dissatisfying that I couldnt bring myself to finish it. The only redeeming quality was the substantial portion size, but alas, each dish failed to meet expectations.

Its the worst sushi place Ive ever seen in my life. The problem is not just that there were bugs in the sushi we ate, the employees are absolutely disrespectful, unsmiling and rude. I will never go here again. Your bosses need to teach respect to the employees working in this business.

Got the beef bento box. Beef was so dry I couldnt eat it. Gave it to my dog instead. The staff was pleasant, and helpful, I was offered a remake on the order, but as it was horrible weather it was difficult for me to venture back out to replace it. Which was disappointing cause this was my first takeout order in 3 months and I was looking forward to it. Wont be going back.

Staff were very kind. Sushi /Sashimi was very well priced and fresh. The place itself is not well maintained and the bathroom looks like a bomb went off.

Ordered 2 Super Rolls for take-out ( Miami Nice & Rainbow Dragon) : absolutely tasteless! The impression is that you eat all the ingredients separately ( raw fish, avocado, cucumber, etc.) Completely disappointed, will not be ordering in the future.

It is affordable w/ good portion compared to other sushi places but I wont recommend still. Imitation crab meat isnt something you should consider using for sashimi and sushi.

This is definitely some of the worst sushi I ve ever eaten. I ordered the lunch dragon combo and it left much to be desired. Not sure if it s because it took over an hour for delivery but the fish did not seem fresh at all and made me hesitant to eat it. I ended up only eating the sushi that was cooked and throwing out the raw fish. Side note: their eel sauce is just thickened soy sauce and is SO salty it is inedible.

This place is delicious. I think it should have more stars than just 3.8. Really good and the price is reasonable!

Lazy to go out, then we ordered delivery on Sunday afternoon. We ordered Sushi Combo A my gracious the sushi is a big slab slice of full of tuna, tempura & other stuff like cream cheese. 3 sushi Im already full plus beef teriyaki, hot & sour soup. Plus they gave us extra 3 spring rolls, 2 salad and 1 miso soup for me. We cannot even finish the 32 sushi together with my husband were so stuff. We already recommend to our friends and family but I forgot to leave my best review to Sushi Rock. Thank you so much for sumptous delicious meal. And also for Dasher delivers my food on time.

Ordered through Uber eats. Received a call from the restaurant because I requested no tempura bits due to celiacs (gluten free) and was told no. I tried to works with him politely and try to find other sushi options that didn t have tempura but he wouldn t work with me. I told him thank you and I would cancel. I see now that I was charged the full $61.86 Definitely won t be even looking at the again or recommending. Dietary restrictions: If you re gluten-free for any reason, do not bother with this place

Have been ordering take out from this restaurant once a week, every week for years. They were mediocre but consistent + affordable. There has been a rapid decline in the last year, and our last three orders were just completely unacceptable. Last time on top of the whole order being sloppy and not fresh, they sent a bad imitation crab roll instead of the spicy salmon that was ordered, and did not include the spicy mayo (that is now $1 extra per container). Today, I got a wonton soup with what tasted like raw, grainy flour where the chicken and shrimp should have been. The sashimi was off colour and definitely not fresh, and the other two rolls were falling apart and overall poor. Couldn t eat any of it so that was a waste. The best thing in today s order was the ginger condiment. RIP, won t be ordering again.

The sushi and rolls here are fine, 4/5 for the price. But do NOT order the beef teriyaki bento. You will receive the driest, most unseasoned cut of meat ever. The photo says it all.

Ordered two salmon avocado rolls, ALL throughout the roll has this miniscule amount of salmon in it. They increased the price of the rolls but somehow drastically reduced the amount of salmon they put in it and stuff avocado slices in it to fill the rest of the space. Really disappointed, they used to be great for a pop in meal but their quality has gone down the drain.

Change the picture of Dragol role on Uber Eats. Its misleading. The picture you have for Dragol role is the same as Dragon on fire, I only ordered because I thought its Dragon on fire. Very disappointed!

After the new management took over, the quality of the sushi has gone down dramatically. We used to order this platter a year ago and the pieces of sushi actually had a decent amount of salmon in it and tasted good. Now the sushi is primarily rice and minimal fish. Called for delivery. The phone line kept cutting out. I repeated my address at least a half dozen times in the first call. They called back to clarify the address and I repeated it another half dozen times. They still delivered to the wrong address. The person at that address was good enough to call me and we worked it out over the phone. By the time the food arrived it was cold and I was in no mood to enjoy my dinner. The time between placing the order and the food arriving was 2 hours. Im never ordering here again.

chicken tereyaki is just a failure, a waste of money

Very rude staff and poor customer service. I went there to pick up my order and staff was very rude for no reason. After waiting there almost 30 minutes for pick up order which was pre ordered so I don t have to wait, when I asked the staff I have been waiting from last 30 minutes how long does it gonna take? Staff member said another 30 minutes with very rude tone. they should be trained properly how to talk to the customers. M taking my business somewhere else. Thanks

The chicken teriyaki is so bland, it is like eating unseasoned chicken. We have to make our own sauce just to have flavor. The takoyaki isnt good as well. False advertisement. Do not ever order in this restaurant. Waste of money. I was hoping to have a good dinner, end up regretting buying their food. Your restaurant do not even deserve one star. What a disappointment. This was my first time ordering from Sushi Rock and I would never ever order from here again. There was no spicy sauce on the spicy dynamite and nothing spicy about the spicy salmon. There was only a small smear of cream cheese on the Philly roll and the salmon on top was about one millimetre thick, almost white and looked like it had been run over. I didnt even try it lest I get food poisoning. Horrible experience.

Gave me food poising, reported to the city. I knew something was wrong when the salmon roll looked and smelled not right. Strong chemical odour coming off it. Didn t eat a lot of it so I wasted money, and the small amount I did eat made me very sick. I ordered off Uber eats and they didn t refund me so beware when ordering from here.

Sushi Rocks new location keeps the taste just as good as the old one. I tasted quite a few improvements too, the fish is a lot more full bodied, their spicy mayo has a much clearer taste and doesnt overpower the fish. Highly recommend if you enjoyed the previous location.

heard the expression jack of all trades, master of non? it would fit the concept of this place, serving foods from across east and south east asia. in execution (quality and taste) this place is jack of non, master of who?. horrible tasting foods through and through, from the pho to the dumplings to the fried noodles. enough tasteless and clueless people buy from this place to keep it afloat and its sad to see.

I recently ordered from a sushi restaurant via Uber Eats and I was pleased to find that they offer a good portion size and a variety of options on their menu. However, I encountered a couple of issues with my order. Firstly, the size of the salmon on the roll was much smaller than what was depicted in the restaurants pictures, which was quite misleading. Also, the quality of the rice did not meet my expectations; it was excessively sticky, which negatively affected the overall enjoyment of the meal. While I appreciated the portion size and menu variety, these aspects of the food quality were disappointing.

THIS IS NOT A JAPANESE PLACE DONT GET FOOLED!!!!! Its run by some bunch of inexperienced people for some pocket money, and no sense of responsibility. How do I know? Read below.... People working in the restaurant are extremely rude and have ZERO understanding of customer service. You will never hear a welcoming voice on phone or a smiling welcoming face at this restaurant when you visit. This is my second bad experience with them in 6months, they tried to cheat us by not packing one of the items. When we called back, they accused us of lying and said the item was packed. When I asked to show CCTV recording if it was packed, another person apologized and gives us the missing item. You cannot accuse a customer with a proof, 1st rule of running business. Always respect customers, they are the reason you have a job. Word of advice to the management: please get some customers training for your employees, this is by far the worst customer experience ever. They dont understand orders, dont give right orders to chef, unwelcoming and extremely rude tone on phone. Looks like its run by inexperienced people who care nothing about customers or loyalty. How do I know? The same mistake cannot happen and the service cannot continue to be pathetic.

My boyfriend Colin and I order DoorDash from this place ALL THE TIME. Probably 3-4 times a week!! I love this place, the pieces are SO HUGE!! Also GREAT prices! This is my go-to sushi place to order in and I do love dining in ( though that has been intermittent given all the lockdowns the last few years). I love how they always throw in something extra with the order... spring rolls or gyoza or treats at Christmas, and I also love how they serve the spicy mayo on the side. Really good and reasonably priced sushi but ALWAYS fresh.

This used to be my favourite sushi s place in Mid-town Ordered 3 trays of Sashimi last night for dinner both of us got sick (nausea), shivers and the runs. Management, please check the quality of the fish you re serving. We ordered platinum and gold sashimi trays.

THE WORST SUSHI EVER IN MY LIFE First of all, Fish wasnt fresh which can be very dangerous as it is RAW!! Rice was way too sour. Experiencing bad quality of fish, I am sure that sour flavor wasnt even from adding too much vinegar in rice. Would NEVER EVER recommend this place to ANYONE. Horrible!!! I ordered chicken yakatori, sushi, shrimp tempura thru #doordash. The restaurant is right around the corner from me. The chicken was VERY dry and inedible & cold, the shrimp was cold, the spring rolls as well! BAD.

There is a reason for the rating. I ordered 3 different kinds of sushi. The salmon and avocado was fine. The salmon sushi was also okay but the red dragon roll was just bad. There are definitely better options in midtown for eating sushi. I give 3 stars because they were nice and added a lot of free goodies including spring rolls. The actual quality of food and the taste is probably a 2.

Entered 9:10pm we ordered party platter. Platter full of low quality rolls (stuffed and full of cucumber, thin shavings of salmon) maybe the chef was in a hurry to leave. Tasted sample and objected, waitress offered we pay 50% for the bad quality, later said owner only agreed to 20% off. We left the platter, paid for the drinks and left So sad the new managent dragged this place to this inferior state

Lots of delicious food for not a lot of money! Great Japanese restaurant that has stood the test of time! Excellent location in Torontos Yonge and Eglinton area.

We went Sunday 8:30pm, in a city where almost everything closes 5 or 7, it is really a gem. All tasty, fresh and very well done. The team is super nice, too! Recommended!

Affordable sushi that doesnt disappoint. The ambience is a bit hectic but this only adds to the flair. We were offered some really yummy free appetizers and the waitress was very nice. Will return!

I ordered one of the UberEats Specials from this place for the first time and was very happy with the taste and price. They even threw in some spring rolls for free! I will definitely be ordering from here again.

Not the absolute best sushi in town, but the food is still pretty good and the portions are large for a reasonable price. Cant go wrong with the sushi combos generally, but some of the specialty rolls are meh. Some items are definitely better than others. Dont order through uber eats because its too expensive. Dining in is great and the staff provide excellent service.

Went there for the first time tonight and I won t be back. I asked for a spicy dynamite roll and one order of spring rolls. Got two orders of spring rolls for some reason which explained why the price was higher than I thought it should be. My spring rolls were freezing and my sushi was not fresh, I watched them grab it from a ledge that s been sitting there. The tempura inside the roll was not crunchy, indicating that it wasn t fresh. This is more like a fast food sushi joint.

If I could give less, I would! My guests and I all got sick within an hour of eating our sushi. The salmon wasnt very pink, the avocado was browning and the sushi wasnt holding together. Was the sushi old? Sitting out? Bottom line. Never again!!!

Not a bad place to eat - the menu is not as expansive as some of the bigger sushi places I normally visit but they have a unique fusion section. Overall, tastes good and decently priced for a midtown location.

I order from Ritual for the first time and not only were the staff super friendly and my order was waiting for me but the food great! I order the Kani salad, tobiko sushi, and the soft shell crab roll. The rolls were a large size with just the right amount of rice. Everything was extremely fresh and tasted awesome, I was not disappointed!

Sushi Rock is my go to sushi take out place. The prices are incredibly affordable and all the food is super fresh. The portions are great and service always is fast. Would definitely recommend if you re ordering delivery

The food is good and fresh, and I love the way they decorated and packed. Definitely a must place to go. Btw their milk tea and fruit tea r yummy too, they have a combo and a lot of promotions that you can order from Uber, love ittt.

This has become the go to Sushi place for my family. Fresh, consistent, and great portion size at a good price. Its not exactly gourmet sushi, but its not far off. Its a high volume restaurant, so service isnt their strong point, but Ive never had an issue.

I just order by accident I meant to order from Healty Sushi last week I order chicken terakey very dry the salmon teryaky not presentable their food quiality has reduced since covid I am hopping this time is good. Home manager see this and improve & last thing I live closer to them the food was cold.

I ve been searching for the best sushi in Toronto for years and this is it. So delicious. Great prices. The portions are generous and they gave me enough soya sauce! Thank you. Keep on being awesome

Worker is not good behavior

Honestly, from several places that I ve ordered before, sushi rock has the best food in town. Always ordered through delivery apps and always had a little gift from them. One time I got a bubble tea as a gift! Can t go somewhere else! They are my favourites!!!!

The rice is a bit soft but overall the food is decent and affordable. I ordered the Sushi Rock Combo which came with salad and miso soup. They gave me free dumplings too!

Takeout. Sushi was not fresh. Funky smell and taste to every roll. Fish had congealed to the rice because Im almost certain the sushi was not made to order and instead was premade and stored in a fridge for long periods of time.

I dont understand why they only have 3.6 stars but Sushi Rock is my standard when it comes to having the best sushi. I ordered three different dragon rolls and an assorted tempura for delivery through Door Dash. Food was delicious and the rolls were HUGE. They even threw in an order of gyoza which was a nice surprise for my daughter. The food wasnt anything spectacular, but exactly what I expected. Would order again.

Ordered a party tray from this place last night through DoorDash. While the presentation was okay and the free dumplings were nice, the sushi was tasteless (likely unseasoned) and didnt taste super fresh. It was also half an hour late. Luckily we got a full refund from DoorDash. Wouldnt order from this place again.

They have buy one get one free today and this is what I got. I think based on the taste and appearance of this dynamite sushi it migth have been sitting in the shelves for a day or 2. If you guys can t provide fresh food for your promotions don t do it.

I have never bought sushi here, but this is why I only buy sushi from metro grocery. Would be even better if metro served miso soup too

At normal sushi places, sushi is $1 a piece and bubble tea is $4-5 Here they have a set of 6pc Maki 2pc Sushi 3pc sashimi 1 hand roll 1 bubble tea For $27 before tax. That amount of food should cost $18-20. Crazy.

Dinner was excellent. Rolls were all very fresh and they even provided a complimentary appetizer. One tip - Dragon on Fire is much better enjoyed inside the restaurant instead of for take out.

Their food is good and the price is very fair for the portion, there were times were they had really good deal on ubereats. What i really applaud them is their customer service. I have never had any problem, pick up was always on time and easy, they have also been giving random free stuff occassionally, like bubble tea. Shu yi bubble teas are really good too!

The sushi here is way too big to even be enjoyable. It s the size of a tennis ball and honestly I wasted so much of the food because everything was just made too large. Sushi is suppose to be small and mouth bites, these definitely take 3 bites. The breaded shrimp in the dynamite rolls were also too soft and not crispy and fresh how they are normally made at other restaurants. I won t be ordering again.

Great take out sushi menu and always fresh! They often give a free item with pick up orders (bubble tea, spring rolls, dumplings). Everything is packaged to stay fresh. Spicy mayo and eel sauce comes on the side so rolls don t get soggy.

ALLL THIS PLUS A SALAD FOR 15$!!! The restaurant threw in the spring rolls as a surprise !! What fantastic servings and look at the sashimi! Now that s a beautiful cut!

Have ordered from this place many times. My go to are the rice paper wraps, and the cucumber salad rolls which all contain crab meat. They definitely switched up their crab meat provider because the quality of the meat was literally like the cheap grocery store kind. And when I called to let the restaurant know I was not satisfied with the crab meat they admitted that three days prior they had received crab meat from a different distributor and would not credit me but just told me to deal with it with Uber eats. In addition to that the chopsticks were awful quality and very splintery, which I also complain to them about. They said they are also going with a new distributor. So it sounds like this restaurant has started to cheap out.
