Authentic Syrian dishes made fresh everyday. Family owned authentic Syrian cuisine in Toronto, Canada
Everything was absolutely delicious and service was great. We got the makdous, red hummus, chicken shwarma plate and ayran. Everything was super delicious. Our server was very sweat and friendly. Everyone in comments mentioned about portions being small, but its pretty filling for one person. We paid almost $40/person for everything.
Wanted to try this place for the longest time and finally managed to. Portions of main courses were very small We had kabob in black cherry which was interesting but there were a couple of seeds in the stew that you could break your teeth We also had a lamb shank dish which was surprisingly came as a black piece of meat. It appeared to be sitting in their freezer for a long time and warmed up and it was disgusting. I honestly couldn’t eat it! I like to support local restaurants that offer cultural food from other countries as they enrich our living experience in Toronto but this was absolutely disgusting Also our waitress seemed to be upset to accommodate our special needs although I called in advance and asked if we could be accommodated! One of the waitresses is nice though
We really enjoyed the service and atmosphere, it was warm and inviting! The fatteh, kebbeh, burning fingers, and sojok sambousk were absolutely delicious and our top picks. The chicken shawarma was high quality but could use a touch of refinement in presentation. The vine leaves, though flavorful, felt a bit too soft with slightly overcooked rice, and the leaves were tougher to chew than expected. Overall, it was a good experience, and we’re excited to return and explore more of the menu!
My experience at Zizfoun was really good. We called them and could easily book a table for 9 people . They had good foods, nice staff and great atmosphere. We ordered 4-5 traditional foods and all were delicious including Fatteh Makdus, Kebbeh Labanyeh and Burning Fingers. Overall, I do recommend this place if you want to tray traditional foods.
If I could rate this restaurant higher, I would. Went with family to celebrate a birthday and I could not have had a better experience. Our server was extremely friendly and pleasant the entire time. The food and drinks were absolutely incredible. The kind of food you tell your friends about. Our server made friendly conversation with us while checking in and even provided us with some complimentary desserts after we mentioned that we were celebrating, which were divine of course. There is not a single bad item on the menu with a variety of vegetarian and meat options, you are sure to find something you will fall in love with. I 100% recommend this place to anyone considering it.
My experience at Zizfoun Syrian Cuisine was a mix of highs and lows. First, it took quite a long time for them to prepare the food. We ordered drinks expecting homemade beverages, but they turned out to be overly sweet, syrupy drinks. Additionally, the portion sizes were disappointingly small. I ordered the Fatteh Makdus, which was very flavorful and delicious. However, my husband's Makloube was a letdown. It consisted of bland rice with ground beef, lacking flavor and not resembling the picture in the menu. The tomato sauce was minimal, just a single spoonful. Overall, while some dishes were tasty, the slow service and disappointing portions left much to be desired.
we were excited about trying their food and maybe we expected alot but Food was mainly tasteless, as if there was not much spice was used in the food, specially on the chicken and kebabs. Generally the service was nice and the waitress was friendly but at the end after I paid they started asking questions about the food and services and when I gave them my honest opinion this made me uncomfortable. Generally I won't be visiting there again. I know there is a hype around this restaurant but imo wasnt the best experience. Drink was nice, the appetizers was also great but the main dish was not to my standard of middle eastern flavourful.
I have been to Zezafoun many times and I have never been disappointed. The food (and I have tried almost everything on the menu) is always flavorful and well presented. If you are tired of beef and lamb, try the Moloukhieh, my personal favorite, which is chicken with a super tasty leaf (kinda similar to vine leaf). The drinks are definitely interesting, a bit on the sweet side. The atmosphere and service is also amazing.
Incredible Syrian food, charming staff, wonderful atmosphere steeped in Syrias rich history and amazing culture - we are so glad we discovered this gem of restaurant. We hope to return soon!
Such a cute place!! The staff were so nice and attentive, the food was delicious, and the decor was so cute. Would definitely recommend!!
Worst service ever. I have never been treated this bad ever. Left without eating. Rude ill mannered girl kept as a server. Never going back.
Very friendly staff, great food and great service. i have ahd brunch, lunch and dinner at this place and always had an enjoyable experience
The vibes are super cute at the place. The server is not the friendliest. Everytime I ve come there she loves telling us that they close at 9 and we should eat and finish fast, despite us being there well over an hour before closing. She also just gestured vaguely at a table for us to sit and the whole interaction from the moment we entered was incredibly awkward and unwelcoming. Interacting with her is like interacting with a mean girl and you have to be humiliated a little to get a seat and meal. I was nice to her regardless and we had some chitchat but yikes that really struck me, and the fact she did it multiple times to us is concerning. The food depends on what you order. It s not all fresh. Overall I d say average except for the fatteh which is great. Like other reviews mentioned, it is definitely overpriced. And no one gives you an itemized bill. With little improvements this place can really provide more. And the server can learn some people skills.
Coming from an Arab background and all of my life in the Middle East, maybe the food can be a little improved. Chicken shawarma might improve if fried a bit. Good atmosphere and service in other aspects!
Update: went there with a friend, the restaurant is beautiful but the food wasn t as good; the chicken shawarma was dry Good middle eastern food. I got a chicken shawarma and an order of falafel. The chicken shawarma was decent, I felt like I was eating homemade Syrian food. That falafel was very good! I was a bit surprised that there are 3 pieces in an order but not complaining, definitely not overpriced. I d go back to try more things from their menu.
We went with the recommendations from the server and it didnt disappoint. All of the dishes were delicious and so were the desserts. The Syrian tea has a free refill which we really appreciated and the kiwi drink was a very good surprise.
I had a wonderful experience at Zezafoun, and after just leaving I already can t wait to return. The restaurant is small and family owned and operated, and the food is made and served with love and care. The food is excellent and tastes homemade, and is only rivaled by the personalized and considerate service. I look forward to having the privilege of dining here again in the future.
This is probably one of the best dining experiences Ive had in Canada. The host who runs the place is as captivating as the menu. The food is perfectly done and the ambiance is original and unpretentious
A very cozy and welcoming restaurant. The food was amazing and the service was top notch. The server was so friendly and offered to give us half cheese and Sujuk burek to let us try more things. The kunafeh volcano was tasty and a lot even split among two people! They were so generous with the pita and tea. Too many things to rave about here that makes it such a pleasant dining experience.
We ate here 3-4 times and we love the place! Food is always delicious, cozy atmosphere and the owners are such friendly ladies its always a pleasure chatting with them. Vegetarian options: There are a lot of vegeterian mezze options. As a main vegeterian dish, fatteh tisiyeh is my favorite.
Shawarma tasted like boiled chicken with no flavor. Post script to reply of the restaurant: FYI I didnt come in any group and also no photos were taken around in the restaurant. There is barely any corners to take photos. Plus barely finished the food
AAAAAMAAZING . Literally the best food I have ever had in my life. I will come here all the time . 10/10 would recommend .. YUMMMMYYYY
Very cozy family restaurant. All is delicious.
Small lively restaurant with amazing food and very friendly attentive staff Vegetarian options: Extensive Food : 5/5 |
my favourite spot in whole town. beside the most authentic and delicious Syrian food, the warm vibes make you feel right at home. EDIT: it s too bad that Google doesn t allow you to write more than one review. I ve been coming here for more than 4 years. practically it s my home now. never once I tried something I didn t like. never once I recommended it to others and they didn t like it. to maintain this level of quality over the years is almost impossible, yet they do it. I can t remember any restaurant at any level makes me instantly happy and warm like this place. Vegetarian options: plenty of vegetarian and vegan options. well highlighted in their menu.
The best, loving staff and they pay attention to your orders. I had such a great time at this place. Will be back soon!
We ordered food via Door Dash. Avoid this because their salad and pita bread gets soggy. The delivery service/driver also made an extra stop which made the food even more unappetizing. In general, for what we paid, we did not have the best experience you may have l have better luck if you dine in.
One of the best places in Toronto to eat and hang out.
Friendly environment, amazing food and very clean and generous
nice service,Food, drinks ,and nice owner but the quantity of food is not enough Food
Never dissapointing!
Amazing food, super friendly people, great prices, and awesome books and artwork!!!
Incredible flavours and a beautiful setting and service. Thank you
An absolutely delightful experience! Their story is beautiful and was the reason we wanted to try Zezafoun. It does not happened often that the ambiance, the food and the service in a restaurant all deserve a 5* review. Zezafoun does! A cozy little gathering place with flavourful, homemade Syrian food. The vegetarian Burning Fingers was recommended; a combination of unique and tasty ingredients served in a bowl. The non vegetarian dishes the other people in our party of 6 ordered were an equal treat to their palate. Highly recommended.
I went for brunch on a Sunday. The food, the service, the atmosphere everything was excellent! I plan to return regularly. Vegetarian options: A lot of veggie and very tasty options!
Fatteh Makdous 5/5 Kebab platter 1/5 Food
Thank you for caring this much about serving these beautiful creations. Your cooking brought back such fond memories of family cooking and love. What a wonderful dining experience. One of the best in Toronto. Thank you again.
Got a referral from a co-worker to come here so we stopped by for an early dinner after work and was not disappointed. We ordered the kabab karaz which is a dish containing cherries. Surprisingly not that sweet and tasted great. We also ordered the makdous fatteh which was also delicious. Would like to come again when in the neighborhood to try different dishes!
Intriguing flavors and menu.
Very accommodating and friendly, amazing food and service. They were very kind to me and my friends and turned what had been a very long and difficult day into a fantastic one. Thanks so much!
Sat outside on a wonderful October day. Great food, charming service. Im going to tell everyone in Rhode Island about this place.
Best fatteh ever
Amazing food and amazing atmosphere. Great staff.
decent place
Very good. Had a great night with family. Food is fantastic and fairly priced. Would go again 10/10
Cozy and warm family restaurant, with beautiful natural light coming through. I was visiting for TIFF film festival and finally got to try it after hearing so much from local friends. It didn t disappoint. Tasted like home. Tried the Kabab Karaz, Beef Kebbeh, Mutabal. My only regret is not having a friend with me because these plates are meant for sharing. The highlight of my visit is meeting the chef herself.
Easily the best food Ive had in toronto, if not canada, as a whole. The portions are amazing, and the food tastes beyond incredible! As a homesick Middle Eastern who misses his food everyday, I feel so lucky that I happened to find this place!!!
I absolutely love this place. I found it just walking by and I had never had Syrian food but it was sooooo good!! The serves are so lovely too!
The food here is delicious! Very authentic and super yummy. The vibe is also amazing. I love how they play traditional Arabic music, it really creates a nice atmosphere while you enjoy your food. Highly recommend trying the Syrian tea, and mezza plate if youre going for breakfast. People who work there are also wonderful. Marcelle, the owner, is a very interesting person with a kind heart. Definitely recommend dining-in :)
Everything from the food to the space was absolutely fantastic. The authentic homemade food was really great with such new and interesting flavours. Ive tried a lot of middle eastern food in the GTA and I was so happy to find such new and interesting flavours again.
We called for veg food. Not sure if thats the reason why we didnt have a good experience here. The falafels were not fresh and very dry. So was the case with another potato based fried item. It was very dry and my stomach was spoiled because the food was not fresh. I will say that their desserts were good but generally 4 veg items that we called for were not at all good from a taste perspective and were not fresh. The owner is fantastic though. She is kind and hospitable!
Great food & great service! Definitely will be back!
Amazing food, lovely patio area to eat and the staff were really friendly too!
Good atmosphere, great food, slightly overpriced, mediocre service. Everyone had different dishes amongst the 6 of us, the lamb dishes are definitely worth a visit, only Middle-eastern and South Asian cusinies do lamb good justice. We had a reservation at 1pm but were told to vacate the premises by 2:30pm on a Saturday afternoon, and were rushed throughout our meal which wasnt very nice...
It was an okay experience. Not the tastiest Syrian food I ve had, but ok for a yuck bite.
We loved our experience here! Delicious food, very welcoming ambience and friendly people! Food
I love this place! I had a very good experience with my family We ordered Makdous Fatth and it was very very delicious! The design of the restaurant was very cute and our servant was very kind Highly recommend!
Had dinner, food was excellent service was great Parking: There is paid parking at the back of the building and along the street Food : 5/5 |
Simply exceptional!
Any time I have friends or family in town, I take them here. My favourite restaurant in the neighbourhood! I love the stewed cherries and beef as well as the Mediterranean cotton candy. The lentil dish is really great and people seem to enjoy all the rest of the food.
Food was not up to par , I tried Syrian food before and what they serving is no Syrian food , was very disappointed with the food , the molokiah was not fresh those leafs supposed to be vibrant green I think it was frozen leafs, it was over all bad. The best thing was the Maza plates all three of us hated our main course, service was very good the price was for that kind of food was very expensive three people almost $250 and no alcohol jus 2 glasses of wine, it was bad experience, I think I ll stick with other middle eastern restaurants. Parking: street parking
Great authentic food! Service was very friendly!Great spot for brunch
A wonderful Syrian restaurant with incredible food and a lovely staff. We ve been here 5 times, and keep going back for more. The food is just so good! And the Syrian tea is just so fantastic! Best tea I ve had. The owner is also so lovely.
I dont know how to start describing the experience at this restaurant, this is one of the worst restaurants overall It was our first time visiting this place after checking the reviews that were really overrated, the food was disgusting and so overpriced for the small portions, also seems like old food The waitress was really unfriendly and unprofessional with customers, talking with attitude If you have extra money to waste try this place!
As a Syrian searching for delicious syrian food that i used to eat in my hometown that was the worst ! Like do you call this stuffed vine leaves ? even a first time cook makes better than this We ordered kebab and the meat came uncooked and for me as a pregnant woman I can t eat raw meat , i asked them to replace it and after waiting for the meat to come again it was the same without any adjustments and i told them again it was raw and the unprofessional waitress said like yh you are pregnant you can t eat raw meat maybe you have to order a chicken ! What a professional answer! Also if you read the way that they respond to people s honest reviews you can tell that how unprofessional they are ! By the way the food was barely edible and not delicious at all but when you pay that much and you are hungry you eat what you ordered but you don t enjoy it at all You probably are gonna respond to this email in a non professional way , thank you in advance
This place was a wonderful cultural trip through incredible flavors and textures of an outstanding dining experience. The owners and staff are top notch, the whole place is clean and overall A++ experience. Everyone in Toronto should eat here at least once. Food
Went there for a dinner with friends. Unbelievable delicious food. Everything was perfect. Fresh. Excellent customer service. So friendly and polite. It felt like we were dining at a family house not a restaurant. Loved their bathroom, extremely clean and it looked like a bathroom at someones house not a public place. Amazing experience
The best place ever to eat the real Syrian Fatteh. The service is just perfect I cant describe how happy I was going there. Thanks a lot people. Food : 5/5
Amazing vegan options!! The taste of the coffee just made me genuinely happy. Staffed and ran by absolutely lovely and caring women. Vegetarian options: Vegan appetizers, main dishes, and a brunch dish. Havent tried the pastries, but probably some vegan ones also.
First time to try Syrian cuisine. Very tasty with its special sauce.
The most flavourful food and wonderful service
Loved the cuisine and the hostess
Friendly service, fast takeout, excellent, creative food. The appetizer dips are compelling and could make a meal on their own, the falafel crispy and nuanced, the meat dishes complex and substantial
made a reservation a month before for my wifes bday. I received conformation from the staff but when i got there, they didint had me in the list and they didnt know who i was.. I still sat down but they took too long to serve us, Left to a mexican restaurtant across and it was a better experienced for me. You should take care of the customers
Lovely place, friendly staff and great menu + coffee. Highly recommend. We will be visiting again!
Stumbled upon this place when we were in the area. The ambiance is very inviting and the staff is extremely polite. They gave good suggestions for food too. We ordered the Molokhia and Burning fingers. Burning fingers was very tasty and a warm hug of flavours. Only note would be if they served the crispy crackers on top on the side, they wud stay crispy for longer. The Molokhia was tangy as was explained by the staff, and while it was tasty, it became too much of the leaves and less of chicken. The side of rice was nice but not enough to balance the tang and the veg portion. Do pay them a visit, very good value for money. Vegetarian options: Lots of Vegetarian options Dietary restrictions: Vegan n vegetarian options Kid-friendliness: Yes Wheelchair accessibility: Yes, but not sure about the washroom
This place is just amazing!
Nice place with friendly staff and good food. The place is cozy though was able to accommodate 9 people on a weekday night. I had the maldoum which was tasty. Same with the Syrian tea (had it iced) - sorry not picture - boo Staff was friendly.
We went there with my toddler, who is not a big fan of sitting and eating. The staff were so kind, especially Marcelle & Joury, and provided crayons, papers and a toy truck to keep him entertained. They even served him one generous piece of Barazik (sesame cookie) as a snack after the meal. For me, the atmosphere took me back to my Grandmas house in Syria. The attention to details is evident in every corner of the restaurant. The kebab karaz was my absolute favorite, and also the labneh which stirred a lot of nostalgia mixed with warmness inside my heart (and belly). Home made food products are what make this place unique, I am amazed by how much they produce. After the meal, we had a nice cup of tea that made our evening perfect. I will definitely come back real soon!
Tasty, authentic Syrian food, and great customer experience.
Great taste, excellent service with a smile. The appetizers are delicious. Cherry kebab is a must try. The lamb shanks are unique. you should definitely try
It one of the best desserts i had!
The most delicious authentic taste of Syria you could have without leaving Toronto. Their Fatteh is made to PERFECTION. Elegant space and presentation, creative drinks, great service, warm atmosphere and top-notch dishes. Youll be hooked!
Food was good! Service could ve been better.
Beautifully designed and quaint. Excellent menu choices, the lamb was perfectly cooked and seasoned and the deserts were out of this world! Very informative staff
Family run restaurant by women. Casual fare restaurant with excellent service.
Came here based on the reviews I read. I was sorely disappointed. Food was barely edible, lacked flavour, did not seem fresh, and was overpriced. The muhammara tasted like a can of tomato paste was emptied in a bowl and served, falafel was simply not good, even the white rice was mushy and overcooked. Best part of coming here was the cookie place I discovered across the street.
I just had my second meal at this absolute blessing of a place in Toronto. This is a family-owned restaurant with mother in the back and daughters in the front. There was something magical about this place both times we were there. It was less like an experience in a restaurant and more like being in the home of an auspicious host. The food is amazing, and almost perfect except when driven above the perfect score possible by the hospitality offered in this beautiful place when you enjoy a meal. Everything, including the way the bathrooms are laid out says welcome, stay awhile and let us take care of you. After hearing how much I love this place the first time I visited with my wife my three daughters organized a Fathers Day luncheon for me and we did not eat, but rather dined on the fair and hospitality of this wonderful family. The dishes are apparently truly Syrian, with a Damascus style Flair... You cannot go wrong with this place
This place is the best thing that ever happened to Toronto. Brought simple delicious and healthy food to midtown, I see people come here from all over Canada and the states, clients see the value as they see their children eating healthy, cooked food with their parents and loving it, gave vegetarians chance to eat real vegetarian dishes and feel appreciated and valued, it brought back amazing memories to many allowing them to feel the presence of their moms and grandmas, brought tears to many as it reminded them of home wherever that was because the food is cooked by the most loving Mom, the owner of the restaurant. When you come to this place, you will taste home. This place is for authentic people who understand and appreciate true value of life.
Absolutely loved it! A very cutely decorated restaurant with super friendly staff and of course tasty food! Everything was flavourful and refreshing. Look forward to returning again!
The food is amazing, we came to brunch and its highly recommended if you want to try something new, and the staff is really welcoming.
Cozy, little restaurant tucked away in a sidestreet a few blocks south of Eglinton. Very homey atmosphere and welcoming staff. We had the Fatteh and Freekeh with lamb shank. Both of the super delicious. The Fatteh is something I had never tried before and I am a fan! Amazing. Small patio available in summer. Will go again!
Good food. Reasonable prices and portions.
This was one of the best meals I ve had in a long time and I will be recommending this restaurant to everyone! Every dish we tried was incredibly flavourful and delicious. The staff/service was also very kind, attentive and proud of their food & establishment. I I will definitely be going back.
Amazing family business empowered by women. great atmosphere and food options
The food was amazing, and the staff were very nice and polite, amazing ladies
Had dinner on a Sunday night. Overall Great food, portions too small for the price. The mezza is great, but overpriced for the very small portions. Loved the muhammara and the beef kebbeh The falafels themselves are great, but the falafel plate is just falafel with a small amount of salad. Quite disappointing, adding at least more salad would be a start. Fetteh and Makdous Fetteh were great as well, and the portions were more reasonable. Lovely service! Our server took the time to explain the menu and provide tailored recommendations
Staff is friendly food is delishous. In going back there is more I want to try.
Their dessert is so delicious!! Great decor as well, will definitely come back
Lovely business, amazing fries, great service and selection of veggie meals Vegetarian options: Vegan kebbeh was great Food : 5/5 |
Really good vegetarian options. Food was amazing!!
Great service, authentic food, and cozy environment. Thanks for having us.
We had a great experience today at Zezafoun - the food is delicious and the atmosphere is amazing! I wish I took the waitresses name but thank you for your kindness and hospitality!
I got invited to his wonderful place. A delicious taste of Siria in Toronto. And let me tell you Toronto, youve come a long way. Zezafoun is a definite come back. We ordered a shared dish that was super sufficient to satisfy our brunch hunger.
This place was my favourite Arabic go-to restaurant in Midtown Toronto, but unfortunately not anymore! The food is still good, however the service is painfully poor. The lady is not professional at all, she was arguing with us what we re gonna order and based on that if she can give us a table. She asked every single of us if we order something!!!!! And once we got a table, she said there is a time limit for it! I understand that time-restricted tables are very common in busy/famous restaurants but her approach was very unprofessional and rude! Hope she learns that customer service is a must for any business!
Rude waitress whom couldn t accept one meal and one desert with tea (which was as expensive as most of their meals) for two people.
Very nica and unique interior design and atmosphere. Very good food with delicious desserts. Dietary restrictions: Vegan and gluten free dishes are available
Cute little Seryian restaurant, loved the vibe and the food is good
Very beautiful place, very friendly people loved it
I stumbled upon this restaurant while I was scrolling for something new Ive never tasted before. And I was blown away by how flavourful and tasty this food was. I ordered one of the specials that included cherries and beef, but once you try it you will realize that these 2 ingredients were meant to be together. The cherries were the STAR of the show. It was not at all tart but sweet and savory. It made the beef wrap even more tasty. My partner got the chicken special and that was also delicious. Ohh and we also started with some meat and cheese patties with some Syrian coffee. We ended the night with a cake desert which was also my favorite. I highly HIGHLY recommend this restaurant to try out next time you are in the area!!!
Authentic delicious Syrian food. Everything we ordered was amazing!! Definitely coming back again. Atmosphere and staff are awesome. Thank you Food : 5/5
Wonderful experience!
My wife and I came here for lunch and found this to be a gem for good home cooked food. We were not familiar with Syrian food and our hostess, Marcelle, patiently explained everything and recommended some dishes which were all excellent, tasted heavenly. Wonderful experience all around. Highly recommended. Vegetarian options: They do have a few veg options Dietary restrictions: They cater to dietary restrictions
Kabab ziara I m not sure about the name But very delicious Food : 5/5
Walked in with my family, waiters were very rude and very unwelcoming , don t eat here! If you value self respect
Make sure to leave room for desert
The atmosphere was lovely but my chicken shawarma was cold. Everything was delicious and thats why I gave 4 stars
We went there for dinner, the staff were incredibly friendly and the atmosphere was cozy. I loved the decoration in the restaurant. It really added an extra touch of authenticity!! The food was very delicious. Highly recommend visiting Zezafoun !
intimate service in a small SY resto. needs some non-purée (solid) appetizers and more choices of small dishes. delicious rice but too large main courses. ouzo/raki choices must complement arak. fair Q/P
The best food, service, and atmosphere, highly highly recommend it
A rare treat in Toronto. Totally authentic, family run, charming place. We were there for dinner but I hear the brunch is legendary. Dont worry of you dont know Syrian good. The staff will guide you. A delight from the moment you walk in the door.
I went there twice, and I had the ultimate syrian brunch. It is delicious and has a lot of variety ! The staff is really nice and takes time to explain what they serve. They did a great decorating the inside of the restaurant, it suits the cuisine perfectly !
First time to Zezafoun -- and wont be the last! Cute space, incredible food, fantastic service. Need at least four trips to try all the food I wasnt able to get to this time. Yonge-Eg neighbourhood is lucky tp have it.
Ive been here a few times and its always fantastic. Worth noting that Ive never been here when it wasnt pretty dang busy, so get a reservation/expect to wait Food
We had a great experience and the food was delicious!
What a fantastic place! Unique flavours with friendly and knowledgeable service. Loved the coffee and accessories Food
Lovely family restaurant serving delicious food. Very friendly service and relaxing place to enjoy dinner with friends and family. They were accommodating for dietary restrictions. Couldnt get enough of their hummus and mutabbal. Will definitely be back!
What can I say but wonderful on all counts? The food, the service, the atmosphere...everything was perfect. My sister and I had come to Zezafoun for an impromptu dinner meet up. The hosts were so kind and patient with our questions, and requests for small substitutions (due to a few dietary restrictions). We wound up ordering (and devouring) a full menu of items, each one as delicious as the last. Im so glad we stopped in. Well definitely be back!! Dietary restrictions: Theyre so good about finding accommodations for dietary restrictions. Theyre very open to answering questions about the ingredients in their food.
Great food, lovely owners, an absolute gem of a place. I ll definitely be coming back here many times
The food was delicious. Service was excellent. The portions were great. My friend said her coffee was one of the best shed had in a while. Their tea was so good I almost asked whether they sold the tea leaves. Definitely coming back next time!
The food was average, no exciting flavours - but maybe because I know how Mediterranean food should taste like, and I expected better tastes. The service was really good, and the place was super clean. Food
We came here for my aunts birthday and they surprised her with a tasty slice of pistachio cake, which was a really sweet touch. For our dishes, we ordered the Ultimate Syrian Breakfast, Jaz Maz, and Makdous Fatteh and all of the dishes turned out to be super tasty and busting with flavours! The atmosphere and environment is also really beautifully crafted together. Its very quaint and unique. Really loved the food, experience and service here and will definitely visit sometime in the near future!
Zezafoun is a cozy and wonderfully welcoming restaurant. The food is amazing and tastes homemade. The prices are reasonable and reflect the quality of the food. The service is top-notch; the staff are friendly and make you feel right at home. Highly recommended!
As a Lebanese man with Syrian grandparents, this is my favorite place to go to in Toronto for the best authentic comfort foods Syria has to offer!
Food was very good - Kabab Karaz and the appetizers were marvellous. The shank was okay, needs more cooking I guess. Waitress was very helpful and nice Although it s a small place, but the atmosphere was really cozy and nice.
Authentically Syrian eatery in the heart of Toronto. A simple unassuming establishment with delicious, flavorful home cooked dishes. Highly recommended for a very satisfying dining experience. Priced right, which means its a must visit, over and over!
Atmosphere is nice. Nothing much spectacular about the food and service.
Great food, pleasant service. You should eat here.
Omg I will come back again and again and again!
This place is such a gem! It was our first time here, and we absolutely loved everything about it. The food was amazing. The service? Top-notch. Friendly and attentive without being overbearing. And the vibe? So warm and welcoming, all thanks to the wonderful family that runs it.
everything was more than good. homemade food tastes Mama s home.
Amazing brunch place ! So tasty !!!
Authentic high-quality cuisine, beautiful atmosphere, service is more than excellent, I love this place
The food away very flavorful and the ambiance was very cozy. We ended up sitting there for 2-3 hours just eating and chatting. We ordered the dip platter, beef kebbeh, chicken shawarma plate and majudara
My gf and I came here for a date and we were amazed by the experience. The waitress was very understanding of our lack of knowledge on the culture s cuisine and gave us a rundown of what to try out. All of her suggestions were top notch and the food we got was immaculate. We got to try out so many different flavours and I would definitely recommend it for anyone who wants to go out of their comfort zone with the foods they usually have. Ask the servers for suggestions and they will make sure that you have an amazing time just like us!
It s like going to a Syrian Grandma s place amazing granny food, the love is there ))
The food was so amazingly delicious that it made me angry Ive lived so long and never had fatteh before today. Tahini, chickpeas, pita, pomegranate, all the best flavours in one comfort dish. Edit: it is one year later and this is still one of the best overall dishes in the entire city
I think the restaurant is over hyped, the food is mediocre, didn t find any wow factor or flavour profile. We ordered kabab dish in cherry sauce, it was a bit too sweet to my liking, there was no flavour balance. And the lamb dish we ordered didn t taste fresh(the meat that is) and it was pretty bland. Muhamara was not good either, I had better elsewhere and falafel was okay, had better at shawarma places. I had authentic syrian food in Montreal which was just freaking delicious, so I thought this would be the same. Just a bit disappointed :( ps. We packed our food at the end, not because the food was delicious, but because after spending $100 on mediocre food, you are bound to take it home.
Food wasn t bad but nothing special, was a bit disappointed. The meat lacked tenderness & flavour, it was not fresh tasting at all.
The food was good
Really good home style Syrian food. Highly recommend the Kunafeh Volcano! Best middle eastern dessert I ve ever had!
Lovely different place.
The greatest and coziest arab/Mediterranean place with tasteful and colourful dishes. Awesome family, welcoming, and respectful. Make sure to tase Kabab Karaz. Love to visit the place again and again. Food
The best restaurant in midtown hands down! Their falafel is my favourite in the city! Everything is so fresh and always delicious. And everyone who works there is so lovely. Would definitely recommend!
Zezafoun is an absolutely delightful restaurant offering superb cuisine! Were consistently impressed with the delicious appetizers, delectable main dishes & desserts, and refreshing drinks. This has become our go-to spot, and the welcoming atmosphere and consistently excellent food ensure well keep coming back for more. Highly recommended!
I tried Kebbeh Labanyeh and it was super delicious.
Delicious comfort food! The waitress was especially lovely taking time to explain parts of the menu to us!
We joined friends for dinner at Zezafoun. We were blown away with the terrific, welcoming vibe. The food was flavourful and plentiful. Several of our guests don t tolerate food with lots of garlic and were pleased with the light hand the chef took with this prevalent flavouring. We will definitely return soon!
I freaking love this place! I love the food, the service and the place and its decor. Been here few times now and still loving it and will be going in the future!
Comfy place, empathetic staff and yummy food Kid-friendliness: Very sweet to my two year old. They had crayons, a special pillow to make the high chair more appealing and built a wonderful rapport with my child Food : 5/5 |
Zezafoun never disappoints and is a true gem of Midtown Toronto! Weve been regulars ever since they opened in 2018 and for good reason. The food is top notch, interior cozy and the staff always welcome us with a smile. Today, we ordered the Syrian Mezza, Cauliflower and chicken shawarma platter. Everything was delicious!
Overall great experience, a bit pricy for what you get though.
Super cozy little family run Syrian restaurant just south of Eglinton subway station. The food was amazing and the owner/staff are super friendly and welcoming. And the food was amazing!!! So so good!! Need to go back so I can try the rest of the menu. I highly recommend.
I ordered in with DoorDash and had a delicious, cozy, filling meal that definitely resembles home cooking. Ive been ordering from Zezafoun since they opened back in 2017, and Ive tried several dishes ranging from vegan to chicken to fish, breakfast to dinner, all of which were consistently high quality meals. Tonight I tried the chicken chickpea stew with rice for the first time and it was the perfect dish for a cold evening. The stew was made with high quality broth and the chicken was so tender it fell off the bone. The chickpeas were cooked to perfection and really nicely complimented the chicken stew. The dish came with a side of fluffy brown rice also cooked to perfection, and it sopped up the stew nicely. Zezafoun also makes the best chicken shawarma and falafel in Midtown. I am so proud to support this small family business, and I hope to do so for many years to come.
One of our absolute favourites in the area. They have great vegan options and the food still tastes amazing. Authentic and delicious cuisine, staff are warm and friendly. Our go to for a good meal and a great business. Vegetarian options: Lots of vegan and vegetarian options. Not just substitutes but also different meals.
Incredible food, and even better service! Such sweethearts, and the food is always fresh. My favourite falafel in the city, and all of their appetisers are can t be missed
Portions are a bit smaller than expected. The fatteh was quite nice. Kebbeh and Molokai was ok. The one I enjoyed most is the Kunafeh Volcano dessert.
